Coney Island Amphitheater in Brooklyn
It was a cold and windy night. However in the theater was actually not windy at all.We were all very impressed. The seats are very comfortable and spacious. (Just a pity that the seat numbers are not easy to find)The music and sound was really good, especially for an outdoor theater
Easy to see right off of the Boardwalk servicing Coney Island and the adjoining areas of Brooklyn. Wheelchair accessible entrance. Moderately clean facilities. Public Restrooms. Free concerts throughout the year. Great staff. Close to the water and restaurants. We will definitely be going back.
It was very nice. You can see from the front and the back. There were seats with cup holders. The exits were easy. Heads up if you use a lot you will pay up to 30 bucks. Parking on the street is better but less convenient.I didnt get a chance to see the bathrooms but there are two in either side. The sound is easily clear and ot doesnt echo. There is easy access to the beach because it is on the boardwalk. The only thing that bothered me was the dried sea smell.
Great spot for any event . This place can become a gem for Brooklyn (...The arches need painting - seats are way to crowded ( stuck to rails that can be modified) if you want to get up and move- the whole row has to get up.... Would return. The mayor needs to do his speeches here and stop going to Kings Theater
Went to the hot 97 On the reggae and soca tip there. My second time there and I had lots of fun. The staff is friendly, and I had no problem entering the venue. Drinks are really expensive. 2 beers were $30 dollars, and one shot was $12. The only thing I disliked was that I found out that people were able to view the concert on the boardwalk meanwhile I paid over $100 per ticket not to mention a skip the line addon price for everyone outside to enjoy it for free. The venue has a roof, but it is an open roof venue. There is also a lounge upstairs.
Its a nice venue, very nice location, but the prices of refreshments and beverages are absolutely unreasonable. They charge $13 for a domestic beer, thats just too much... We are not coming back here again - this place tries to take advantage of the patrons with these gouging prices.
I love watching shows here! You can run into the bands and when you go to the bathroom you end up parallel to the stage so it almost feels for a moment like an all access pass. Ive seen some truly great shows here. I wish the quality of the seats didnt suck but if the band is good you wont be sitting down anyway.
Very nice concert venue. The acoustics were great! Not overpowering - even in the 1st section near the stage. The seat rows are nicely spaced allowing for ample room to stretch your legs out. The bathrooms were clean and there were enough stalls so that during intermission there wasnt an unreasonable wait. If possible, purchase parking ahead of time through Parking Panda as there isnt a lot of on the street parking. Very good overall experience.
The show was great...only problem Is theres only one interest which is held up because they also which is a good it took us 30 minutes to get inside the theater the ternative to that would be to pay an extra $20 to $40 to go through the VIP area which also had a line because the checkpoint. staff was great very helpful getting you to your seats keeping the areas clear I enjoyed myself
This is a nice venue right on the beach! You can literally spend an afternoon kicking it in the sand then just roll up to a show. I LOVED the location. While it’s obviously far from uptown, it was very easy to get there taking the subway. I saw a free summer concert and was amazed at what was out together for the community. It really shows that they back up the locals. I’d highly suggest checking out a show here.
Lovely Historical Ford amphitheater building restored in 2017 Live music performances by famous singers. Inside the Historical Ford Amphitheather is now a Trendy Upscale Restaurant and Bar called Kitchen 21 . Gorgeous ocean views from second floor open air dining and bar area. Ocean , beach, local entertainment right in the Heart Of Coney Island Boardwalk.
This is an outdoor theater that is covered, but the left side of the theater is exposed to the elements. Its right on the boardwalk so it may get cool depending on the time of year. Every seat is a decent seat. The security check is extensive so give yourself plenty of time to pass security and not miss any of the show. There is street parking but again you will have to ride around to find a spot. There are several parking lots that you can utilize. The seats are very close and tight. I saw Gladys Knight & the OJays here. The sound system was great for Gladys, not as good for the OJays. They have big screens for you to see the show as well. I would attend another event here
My sisters college used this place as their graduation venue. They check bags upon entry. It rained that day in the morning but the venue has roofing to keep you dry. Great place! Great addition to Coney Island. Restrooms were clean. They sell food/concessions also. Seats were okay.
Went there for Freestyle Concert. Nice space but acoustics for mikes when artists were speaking werent very good. Couldnt really clearly hear them. Website stated event doors would open at 7 but actually opened at 6. Guidelines stated that vaccination proof was required but they never requested it. Line was long but went very fast. Bathrooms were very clean even at end of event. Again, space is nice but they need to work on sound. Good views no matter where you sit.
Great location for a concert. Lots of food choices with clean bathrooms. Staff was polite and helpful. I took off a star because there was no planning by the City to assist getting out of the parking lots to Surf Avenue. At Cyclone games the City Police control traffic flow to assure a safe and orderly dispersment from the concert.
Great venue. Clean restrooms. Courteous staff. Food and drinks available ($6 hotdogs, $8 nachos, $19 double cocktail etc.) Not the biggest venue-so every seat is a good seat. Semi-outdoors; like being in a giant circus tent with open walls. Hope this answers questions for future visitors.
Small venue, you can see the artists (with good vision) from most seats, unknown for bleachers. 2 monitors are large and good clarity. Outdoor venue with a tent over the top which protects from rain and sun. Parking is OK, expect to pay higher rates than normal for lots, do not expect street parking. Seating area is at a mild grade. Its tough to see over peoples heads, especially if they are tall. Aisles are poorly designed. Drinks are super expensive but match the prices at msg. Bring a koozie if you plan on drinking beer or seltzer, etc as they all come in cans. Bathrooms are roomy. Exits are convenient, but they close some before the show is over making it less convenient. Not sure why, its an inconvenience for anyone near the stage. Staff is friendly.
I saw trippie red and this man killed it. The amphitheater itself is nice too but not as cool as trip. But if you happen to get floor seats for a concert of any kind you better be ready for loud music. Im talking next level loud, modded 99 civic with 2 subwoofers pulling up to the beach loud.
The amphitheater is a welcome addition to a neglected part of the Coney Island boardwalk; offers local jobs and provides affordable entertainment to the community. I do have to mention the good and some things that need improvement (coming from someone who has managed event venues for dozens of yrs):-Security - entry lines and security checks need to reconfigured. Many times Ive seen ppl jump ahead in line or sneak into venue.-Ushers - use Lead ushers as a second set of eyes at entry points & in orchestra area, where many bleacher ticket holders sneak into.-Audio - not sure if theres a consistent tech director / A1 but the sound is always awful.-Lighting - Same thing, not sure if touring shows use house plots or bring their own the the board operator always defaults to strobes so bright you can see the stage. I didnt pay to come get my retinas burned.-F&B - you HAVE to teach these kids how to get slammed and work together to get drink lines moving. Last nite took my hubby over an hour for 1 beer.- Restrooms - theyre always clean and pretty well stocked, thank you!- Staff - everyone Ive encountered on the FOH end has been very polite and courteous. The rooftop is a hidden gem, should be used for VIP meet and greet moments w talent instead of an expensive add on to a ticket. The view of the ocean is free, why would I spend Extra $$$ to see it from the venue? All in all, great addition to neighborhood, B+!
Went to see La India concert. You have to go early by 1pm to line up. Great DJs they had two . One before the show he was great played a variety of music. La Brouhaha the poetry artist recited a very deep poem. La India performed very well & did a duo with Adrienne from The real.
Had a nice time but the ticket seats didnt really respond to any actual seats. We had to rely on other concert goers to explain that to us. There wasnt much choice in refreshments if you didnt want alcohol or soda, not even an iced tea or lemonade. The views were good from almost all over the amphitheater with only a few obstructed seats. The sound system was great.
Very cool layout. Staff super friendly security pinpoint but not over barring. Beverages overpriced. Two sex on the cocktails were like $38 bucks. The sound system, was totally off during the performance the artist sound muffled and the bass was just overpowering. The engineer may have been new. Overall, great show by one of the greatest hip hop groups of all time
For looks, size and location,, I give 5 stars!! Its A BEAUTIFUL, LARGE building! The ORIGINAL BEAUTY was kept and restored!! I havent been to a concert there, but the theater is very large and has great sound (the way it was designed)! The restaurant seemed a bit pricey, looking at the menu, but the food choices seemed interesting. I will definitely be checking it out!
I went here for my Birthday Last Year!! It was Great ; if You Had to go to the Bathroom During the Concert you Could Still See The Show, Because They had little Monitors on the Walls💖 So I Didnt Miss a Thing , Now About The Food Prices they Were High, and the Drinks Were Outrageous, ( I Dont Drink ) But a Can of Coors Was Like $12.50 but other Than that a Great Experience!
I work here at the ford Amphitheater. Even though its a seasonal job. I enjoy working here. I get to see the concert and music artistes perform on stage. The only sad part was that we didnt open up this year because of covid 19. But GOD willing we should be open next year for all our fans to come out and enjoy to concerts.
It was fantastic. The theater holds 5,000 and there are concession stands...2 by the stage and 3 in the lower level including restrooms with air-conditioning. VIP rooftop with bar. No A/C inside the theater. I had a great time...Frankie Valli and the four seasons were awesome.
The theater is a great place to visit. I have been there several times and enjoyed it. The staff is extremely helpful and bathrooms are always clean. The only thing is the waiting for food and drinks. The cashiers double as servers also that slows down the line very much. Other than that I would definitely recommend to come to a show here.
The concerts I attended was awesome. The view no matter where you sit is amazing and you can clearly hear the music/songs. The drinks are good too. The fact that Luna Park and the boardwalk and beach are a few steps away makes this one great experience. You are guaranteed to have a great time here.
Music could have been adjusted a little too loud and unbalanced. The Entertainers was great. And the concert was long. Just have to watch out for some of their ushers they try to get money under the table in an attempt to get you a better seat. But I went back to the box office stand and upgraded my ticket.
Great venue for watching shows. I have seen plenty of great concerts at this place. Good seating and sound. Wheelchair accessible. Food and drinks are priced at about what youd expect. Bring your wallet. There is no free parking. Youll have to pay unless you can find somewhere outside the venue.
Best place for a concert venue! Coming here during the summer is a must. This is a five thousand seat venue and I believe theres not a bad seat in here. There were some audio problems at the concert I went to, but when it was sorted out, the sound was fantastic. Bathrooms are also large enough so there isnt that much of a wait. Ill definitely keep an eye out for future concerts here
We saw a free summer concert here. The sound was great and the amphitheater was in excellent condition! They have stands where you can buy snacks, beer and cocktails. The staff was super friendly. Since its open to the air it can be quite warm in the summer. Great spot to see a show!
Great theatre, Ive sat 2nd row from the stage & last row in the back and each time you feel like youre getting a great show. Drinks are really good. Got a fishbowl that lit up on the bottom and it was DELICIOUS. Crowd tends to be friendly as well which is rare. Bathrooms/concessions are never far away which was great!
Love that it has a local feel but their drinks are crazy expensive. A 24oz bottle of beer can cost you roughly $15 (ouch). Also arrive early. Their line to get in can grow so the wait can be a while.Love that this theatre is near Coney Island beach so it has a nostalgic feel to it.As far as set up, the crew can improved. Too much technical error and the wait for the next performance can take time.
This place is okay. They have to turn up the volume because the Amphitheater is not fully enclosed. The seats are plastic and very uncomfortable if sitting for a long time. But, they have enough standing room to stretch your legs. Also, they show too many alcohol advertisements on the video monitors up front. Not good for people who are trying not to drink.
Saw shinedown here 2016sound was good, pretty good location on the boardwalk. One major issue was there was no air circulating through the venue it was an extremely hot day and it was gross how hot it was in the venue. No breeze off of the water. Would still see a show here, but they need to get fans up top or something
So about last night...I must say I had an AMAZING time at the Big Daddy Kane 30th Anniversary Concert. So many artists came out that I used to (and still do) listen to. Easy check in process with security resulted in no problem getting in after the show started. Great crowd, great atmosphere and some of my favorite music! Couldnt ask for anything more. Gonna check out the calendar of events this Summer and definitely go back!
Went to watch the freestyle concert in September. While the venue is nice the speakers are not the best and they can use some fine tuning. As well the security officers their pick and choose who they allow to smoke in their seats and who they dont. Which i wouldnt mind if they let me smoke...lol overall its a nice venue and the fact that its local makes it great!
Zero communication, employees seemed like they were on their first day on the job. They had no idea how to check us in, and had no information about timing. Concessions were a joke; they were out of everything. Could not buy a glass of wine; had to buy a bottle! Whaaa? It was as if they were surprised that a concert was taking place. And the sound in the concert was just awful. They get points for booking interesting acts. On the plus side, I was with my husband, whom I adore, and we still had fun despite the amphitheaters shortcomings.
Had a Great time there for the 2017 Saturday Night Fever Celebration! We danced (in the aisle..front theater. .back theater...on the steps..in the elevator.....) we had GREAT seats....we also had V.I.P. access.Wonderful Amphitheater in Coney Island. That was my first time there. Prior to this event, I didnt know about this place. I WILL definitely be going to other events there!
This was my first time going to The Ford Ampitheater and I must say had a great time. Went to see Wu-tang Clan and the crowd was revved throughout the night. The security was friendly professional, and helpful. The ushers were as well, even when at first wrong direction was given, a young man came and corrected it with a determined smile on his face.(Thank you!!) The venue is spacious enough for all to have a good time and not feel crowded. Find an event to see and ENJOY!!
Very nice facility, not too large, so i think views from anywhere are great. New facility with some growing pains evident. Our row was missing a seat, which resulted in people being moved to empty seats, only to be moved again and again. I thought the sound was great from section 101 center. Concessions were limited from what I saw. Booze selection was decent.
I gave it 3 stars because its nice having concerts nearby & theater size is decent. But- lines to purchase food/drinks are ridiculous! Drink selection is small & theyre beyond overpriced, (never bought food but assume overpriced as well), if it rains you will get wet, seats are uncomfortable and not leveled properly. They need to increase staff & security. Improvement is def needed..
I came here twice to see a concert. I saw Beres Hammond both times and he was great, the seats are ok. It depends on where you sit and how much you pay. It is a really big theater and holds a lot but it’s also a open theater so it can get very hot in the summer. I kinda liked it, it’s not too confusing to find seating but I think they may change the set up depends on the concert, I’m not too sure. The sound was good and they have screens on the side of the stage so you can see if your far away but again I’m not sure if it changes. But it’s a cool theater overall for the location right next to the boardwalk of the beach on Coney Island.
Went to see the Beach Boys here on July 4th and had a GREAT time. If youre going to attend any show here, know that backpacks, coolers, drinks(alch. and non) and food are NOT allowed. This is the same as most venues in NYC, so not a big deal, so if youre coming from the beach, try to consolidate what you have. I had a tote, towels, and beach umbrella all of which were given the OK. There are drinks and snacks you can buy inside, theyre a little pricey but very good. The space is really nice and right on the boardwalk, the interior has a space for dancing which is what everyone did last night. There are plenty of stalls in the restroom so the wait for the bathroom is really short. The staff was great. Super friendly and danced with us as a way to clear the emergency aisle. They also bounced a few beach balls with us which was super fun.Anyway, I highly recommend coming here to see a show. Great place!
We went to a concert here yesterday and thought that the bands played well but were disappointed that the large screens on each side of the stage werent showing anything. All the other amphitheaters Ive been to would show the band performing on the screens during the concert. Not here for some reason.
Met with two of my dearest and mist dramatic friends in my world and we had a ball!Never encountered such a HUGE bar and the food was not bad!!!! The service was good and the bathrooms were decent, in terms of cleanliness, working toilets and and not a long line for the restroom only to enter a dungeon of slime, bacteria, urine pools and no toilet tissue.Had not been to Coney Island in years and the Ford Amphitheater was a Welcome ComebackGreat place to meet up with friends and a lovely seguey to the broadwalk and the beach.Thank you...
Its a covered, outdoor venue. I guess there would be some protection from the rain, but Im not sure if youd be completely dry. We had a beautiful night. Mosquitos were a problem. We didnt think to use repellant, so be aware. $20 for a double shot of premium liquor. I guess thats about average for arena type concession stands. My first time at this theater and an overall great experience.
Im not sure why people are rating this venue without actually having been to a show there. We were there last night for the Beach Boys. We sat in the next to last row with tickets we won from CBS FM . We also ate there. Food choices are hot dogs, pizza, and popcorn, lines were long and slow. Theyre still working out the kinks, and construction is still in progress. This will probably be a good venue when completed, but for us it really wasnt the best experience as far as the theater goes. My advice would be to spring for good tickets, and eat before you go in.
The feeestyle concert was awesome but the security really sucks... I was sitting in the second row. And there were people smoking cigarettes in front of me there were people on top of me no personal space drunk and drowning drinks around and security couldn’t handle it:.. it’s vwry dangerous cause there was no type of control security was arguing with people and they were no help ... this theater definitely needs better security.... if they still have the same security next year I’m letting everyone know DO NOT GO... it’s very dangerous I DID NOT feel safe!!!!!
First time here for an awesome Coheed & Cambria show. Pretty awesome basically being in an outdoor tent seeing a show while it downpoured out. The set up for concessions was honestly a nightmare but it didnt impact things much. Security was actually incredibly helpful, I bought a hell of a lot of merch and didnt want to tuck it under my seat for various reasons. There was a strict no reentry policy so instead security escorted my boyfriend to the car and back with no issues. Im still fairly shocked the guy did all that. Id be interested in going back for another show in the future.
Went for Wu-tang, they were great... but venue not so much. The line to enter took over an hour because the security team is slow and needs more access points, the venue is pretty flat (barely an incline to the seats) so if you are not in the front section good luck seeing anything in front of you. I couldn’t see a thing the entire night. The sound is horrible, you only hear bass, and high notes and it’s not clear whatsoever. Wu tang actually mentioned how bad the sound was while they were on stage. The visuals were off a Mac computer and you saw the persons desktop as they were loading different ones - super amateur. Paying $400 for tickets I expected a proper concert experience and got what felt closer to ‘karaoke’ in a dive bar sound & visuals. Next time I’ll stick to PNC or Jones Beach
Located on the boardwalk. Parking is horrendous. This place is not fully enclosed, its a huge tent with screens on the sides. If theres a concert & you dont care about actually seeing the performers you could do what tons of others did & bring your chair to enjoy the music from the boardwalk.
Although it is in a beautiful setting - right off the Atlantic Ocean- the ventilation is terrible. The tent like structure traps the heat and you will be melting within 30 minutes. The acoustics are also terrible - someone needs to visit Jones Beach and get some information on their sound system. I wish I could say more positive things because I was so excited when I first learned about the amphitheatre in my own backyard, bur I cant.
My wife and I went to see Australian Pink Floyd. ( I never go to tribune bands but I will always make an exception for these guys. ) Unfortunately you cant see the original band anymore so this is the next best thing. Australian Pink Floyd has been playing together for 31 years and they put on a fantastic show. They even played for David Gilmore and he liked them so much, he gave them the inflatable pig from the animals tour. If you are a new fan, or never saw them before, please go and experience your favorite songs live.
Venue was pretty good, sound quality was great, the security and live nation staff nearly ruined the concert for me. Half of the staff was just hanging out directly in front of our seats, and standing directly in my way preventing me from seeing 1/3rd to 1/2 the stage for the majority of the concert.
I saw Taking Back Sunday and Coheed and Cambria here. Nice, clean venue. The seating could stand to be at a bit more of an angle so you can see over those in front of you, and the foot traffic gets pretty clogged at the concession and merch stands. Overall, not a bad place to see a show.
1st and probably last time I go to this venue. The seats are ncomfortable and piled together. With everyone standing you wont be able to see who is on to be stage. Please note that its a tent not a closed theater therefor do not expect airconditioning. The rest rooms are not clean. The food is expensive. What I did like was the NYPD and FDNY presence it made me feel safe.
Ive been here a few times but this time I was disappointed. The staff serving food (hotdogs) was so slow it was a shame. I wanted to go back and help her. This was before the show. Not enough dogs cooking. Beer and drinks were cold. Any venue should be prepared. Have the refrigerators on before hand. No organization. Ill be back for shows but no eats or drink. Also they were only selling CD and no tshirts. Disappointed, like my tshirts.
Most negative comments are absolutely true, starting with the antiquated system of entering. Sound was mostly highs and reverb from bass, with feedback and distortion from the mics. The stage was also very dimly lit with no spotlights or anything. Wu-Tang deserved a better homecoming to BK.
Open air, fully covered amphitheater. Its on the water so the ambient temperature under the tent is susceptible to what ever the ocean breeze is blowing in on a given night. The first night we went mother nature hit us with high humidity and a spawning of midges (non-biting). This didnt bother Bryan Adams and his band tho. Great atmosphere plus great sound equals a great show! Four stars for now because the area surrounding the theatre still needs work - empty lots, cracked sidewalks and a bit far from good eats.
I love seeing shows at the Ford Amphitheater but it falls short and continues its fall. This was the 3rd season since opening and the shows seem to be getting less often and of lesser quality. Started with Sting and downhill from there. Perhaps the new park planned on w15th street will bring more traffic to what is now a bit far from the rest of the regular Coney traffic? Nice bar too!
No ac, no breeze from ocean.Tent-like venue. Most outrageous concession prices in the World. $5 for bottle of water, $16, Yes $16, say it again $16 for a beer. Seats are spread out wide from stage, less than optimal sight line. On the other hand, watchable from boardwalk for free, through screen or holes. Even saw folks with chairs
Went to an event here and the place really has potential. Easy to get to on the subway, with location on the boardwalk and opposite the beach. Open air venue with fixed seats and a large stage. Looks like it seats a few thousand, though the event I went to was much more sparsely attended. Has a small park-like area adjacent to the west which is part of the property and permitted some smaller alternate stage events. There is an old building adjacent to the east with pretty cool exterior but which is nearly a ruin. It appears to be getting refurbished and will be part of the site. Otherwise, its strictly outdoors, so season limited to warm weather.

2021-09-17Solid venue, just 5k seats. Bleachers in the back are still a fine view.I saw Foo Fighters in September 2021 and lovedOverall its really far but a great option when major bands come throughNote - part of one side is open air, the entrance, but the other 3 sides are closed entirely. This was so disappointing. It got sooooooo hot in there, and was only 70-75 with clouds outside. And given Covid, extra airflow would have helped.

2021-09-06Loved the hot 97s concert!Great atmosphere in the restaurant and rooftop bar. When you spend $40,- or more in the restaurant youre allowed to go the rooftop terrace, youll get a shine golden bracelet to grand acces.

2021-09-15I saw a Trippie Redd concert here on September 10, 2021 at 7 pm. It was awesome. The drinks were a little expensive but who cares youre trying to have an amazing time. Would definitely recommend this establishment and return in the near future.

2021-09-14Its a nice spacious arena. Easy access to the restrooms and concessions. 2 large video monitors to easily see the performance, but you can also clearly see the stage.

2022-06-28My third time there. Saw Jill Scott and Erykah Badu previously. Saw Stephanie Mills this weekend another amazing show. Stephanie Mills voice transcends time! Love the venue intimate enough to feel close but spacious enough to not feel claustrophobic.

2022-05-17Good test: I still liked being in this crowded, huge, unusually-designed space after a 4-hour family members graduation following a long slog from Manhattan. The soaring, kite-like cover protected us from rain and mist, there were huge video screen views of the stage, great acoustics, clean bathrooms. The large trained staff kept the large crowd orderly and moving. Easy parking nearby.

2021-09-07I love their concerts. What I love more is that its located in Coney Island close to home and after the concerts I can go out and enjoy a nice long walk on the boardwalk.

2021-09-29The foo fighters concert was just amazing. First time seeing them and going to the venue. The staff and security were very polite.

2022-06-23I was very impressed at a recent graduation. Beautiful venue with a lot of restaurants and much to do in the vicinity. The staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating. Next time theres a concert I want to see in the area, I hope its playing there. It was a pay for parking lot across the street as well as handicapped spaces. The facility is ADA compliant.

2022-06-19Great open sides, top covered huge place for graduations, concerts. Good during good weather. Even though there are 3-4 levels. However the very first couple of rows do not very visual friendly for being too close and low to the stage.
