Went to a birthday party hosted at the pool here. Wonderful location and the lifeguards were amazing. Not only did they watch out for the kids (parents were there too) but they got in the water and played with them. The party had the pool for a little over an hour and then two reserved picnic tables outside the pools gate for lunch.
A great place for bringing family/friends for a picnic or a quick walk around. Available covered pavilion for big gatherings with picnic tables (reservations requred). Pool should be open during the Summer. A paved path around the lake provides a good bike, run, walk route. Most parts of the path may not be shaded though.
This is such a fantastic park and we feel so lucky to live near it! We really enjoy walking the path around the lake which is such a beautiful walk. My toddler loves the playground and the indoor gym (and vending machines of course). And out of the three pools available to clarkstown residents, our favorite is the one at congers because it is never crowded and it is very laid back.
When I compare it with my local park I see that there needs to be more sitting arrangements in children playground for parents.Really beautiful place for jogging/ taking a walk. The water is extremely dirty! Needs care, because there are big fishes and its also a fishing area. Non-edible since the water is dirty!
The off-gassing of the rubber playground mat is quite noxious and it heats up the playground area by a significant amount versus the surrounding grassy areas. There are nowhere near enough benches around the playground. Other than that this is a very nice park, only open to residents.
It’s the most rude person I have ever saw as a park worker, just when you arrive to the parking this guy ask my ID, by the way I never met at google map or any other resource that this park just for residents of this area. I wasn’t ready to get so many angry from some park worker when I arrived just to walk at the park. Hope no one will get in same situation as me.
Least inviting place Ive ever been...signs everywhere, literally every entry way saying residents only and must have ID Proof when requested. And all the people staring at you with disdain because they know youre not from the neighborhood. Last time I go there or that town again.
A wonderful public park for Clarkstown residents. Usually beginning Memorial Day weekend they begin checking resident IDs so be sure to have your license with you. A three-mile walk/run/bikeway around Congers Lake is the absolute highlight here, taking folks around a nice nature trail on which a variety of birds, fish and even turtles can be seen and admired. The path winds through the woods and over parts of the lake, and occasionally a freight train barrels by, which is a wonder in and of itself. Plenty of basketball courts (though most of the hoops have seen better days), an outdoor hockey rink, baseball fields, a tennis court, racquetball courts, a playground and indoor rec center can also be found here, along with two dog runs (one for big, one for small pups!). The sunsets are glorious from a lakeside bench. One of Rockland County’s jewels!
They really did it up nice over the decades. Wooden walkways, reminiscent of parks in South Florida, surround the lake. Seating, benches and one firepit are placed about. You can watch wildlife from catfish (yum) to Eastern painted turtles, deer, and groundhogs. Many use it to jog or bike around. Id give it a 5, however some youth have vandalized and thrown cones over the wooden walkways into the water. So cameras should be mandatory to prevent crime. Also, i do think cyclists (mostly teenagers and children) should be confined to the playground. The reckless cyclists and scooters have marred the wood. Off peak hours are best to go when its less crowded and peaceful. Saturday mornings are a fine time. It is a gorgeous place, aside from the building at the far end, opposite the town of Congers - which just ruins the nature feel, it feels out of place. Despite, there are seating areas of bemches where one can relax and enjoy. There is also handicapped parking in a couple locations. (One large lot, the other less than 9 parking spots near the town) If your in Rockland and have time, enjoy the beauty if youve already seen Harriman lakes. Congers lake Memorial is usually relaxing when not crowded with walkers or families of 8 with bicycles. Also, you can walk to town from the park, its right there. Enjoy some pizza, a cold beer or ice cream.
LOVE this park, and LOVE the beautiful board walk that provides the entire community with a safe, clean and lovely place to get in close to 3 miles, without having to worry about traffic. It even is wheel chair friendly, and for the kids, there are Poke Stops along the trail! Thank you, Congers for this lovely park!
Meh, I came here for a family picnic yesterday. My family has been coming for probably 15 years and we usually rent the site with the two grills. The lake is beautiful and the new walking trail is great! Where this park really loses it for me is with the cleanliness. There was bottle caps, straws, trash, and litter all around our picnic site that has probably been there for years and gets worse and worse every year. I also dont know about anyone else but no dogs??? Are you kidding me? Everyone has a dog and as long as they pick up after their dog and keep it on a leash there shouldnt be a problem. Also the men who drive around emptying the trash cans every five seconds should pick up trash on the ground after people use the picnic site. The bathrooms could also use some cleanliness attention. For a park that has a brand new walking trail, simple maintenance has been overlooked. Please reconsider cleaning the park litter up and the no dogs rules, this is 2017, dogs are allowed in bars and restaurants but not in an outdoor park?
Beautiful park unfortunately the staff are extremely racist. If you’re brown they will harass you multiple times to see your ID even after confirming you are a Clarkstown resident. They lie and say you can’t take photographs in the park when that is not even policy. This happens every time we visit with our family to the point where it’s uncomfortable to go but we won’t be intimidated.
The Hudson Valley is a wonderland of parks, trails, and paths available to everyone. I wish there was a way to keep the inhospitable people of Congers off of these, which our donations and taxpayer dollars help pay for. In the meantime you should avoid this trail, and the businesses that surround it, as Congers has selfishly closed their path to anyone but their own residents.
Love! Great little park for my 22 month old, shaded areas, walking trail near water which is visible from all areas. Basketball court... it has everything spread out wonderfully in one place so you can watch your kids play (and play with them of course!) while seeing the view of the water.
I come often with my children we love it here just be aware of the wasps that keep returning to the kids playground section. If your kids are allergic to bees make sure you have your epipen ready or just avoid that area all together. The park is huge and you get a spectacular view all around.
Its a unique path over the water, like a curved boardwalk. Swans have replaced last summers ducks and geese.A family, mun, dad and noobie swan were together (aww). Havent spotted the turtles, though. 2.6 flat miles. Parking in 3 spots. I use Ricks, always room. Nice to get out.
I had been going to this park for about two years. I absolutely loved it. The park is well kept, has great structure and is absolutely beautiful. I would often come here to jog, walk, or just chill out and relax. One day I brought my girlfriend to the park and was akwardly greeted by a man asking for our IDs to check if we were residents of Clarkstown. Admittedly I knew the park was for residents only, I just managed to sneak in through side entrances just as a precaution. Usually nobody would bother me, as I minded my own business and was just there to enjoy the atmosphere. When the man asked for our IDs it seemed like he already got the hint we werent from Clarkstown. Ive never been a person to say I have been profiled although my girlfriend and I are both minorities, but this man (an old white guy) was making it painstakingly obvious. I told him I didnt have it on me and he told me that just this once we can go around then we gotta go home. I felt so belittled by his comments as if I was a second class citizen, not to mention I didnt even know who he was! I just decided to leave and never went back. I understand they may have their reasons for not wanting certain people in their park, but in 2019 this is ridiculous especially as a taxpayer living in Rockland County. One of the most beautiful spots in Rockland is barred from the general public thanks to a few entitled old men. If the park is not open to the public just put up a big fence and give Clarkstown residents a card to get in and out. That way unsuspecting and curious citizens wont have to be humiliated and belittled the way we were...
We found this park on the way to our kids school. This is a nice park and we enjoyed the walk there until someone showed up and required ID from us saying that the park is for Clarkstown residents only. This is ridiculous. Never thought this could happen in the U.S.! Why not setting bars and asking for tickets from visitors so that nobody would feel offended!
Not a bad Park but Nasty people. We found this park on Google & planed a barbecue there, the park was half empty there was just one loud party 30 feet from us, we were in middle of eating when someone started taking pictures of us. We thought just another creep & ignored him. Then someone came over & asked if we are town residents cuz Park is for residents only. We told him we didnt know about it we will finish up & leave soon. Within 5 min Police showed up & we told them same thing. We checked on the park website & there is no mention that the park is for residents only, but not interested in making a scene we packed up & left! The towns men were trying to convince the police to fine us...! Who feels threatened by a family trying to enjoy a August afternoon in an empty Park?! I guess the arrogant towns men of Clarkstown feel that this stupid Park is a private country club! Stay away & let them hold on to this stupid Park of theirs! (BTW we belong to a minority community thats how they were able to profile us as non residents...)

2022-02-13I visited this lake on my way back from Stony Point lighthouse and saw so many of white swans in this lake. They were visible in the water from the distance but they were in the water which was surrounded by swamp. I wish they were in some part of lake which was closer to railway track or closer to parking lot. I wish to go back someday and see these swans up close unless they are migratory bird who only comes during some part of the year only to this lake.

2021-12-28My family and I absolutely love this park. The playground is great and newly renovated, the walkway around the lake is nice, flat, newer trex so its great for a stroller or jogging. You will see beautiful animals of all kinds, swans, cranes, fish, etc. They are adding pickle ball courts and already have so many other amenities. They host many events for locals here. One of our favorite places to be.
