An amazing place with great food and great people. Was my first time there and is now on my list of go to places to eat. To end a great meal is a desert to die for. All at a price thats just not seen any more. I am so glad to have discovered Connies Diner, just wish it was years ago.
Going to Connies is like time traveling. Their theme is surprisingly retro with bright colors! Delicious food and desserts! They have signature milkshakes (Easter shake is a special right now) that come stacked with goodies and a variety of pies and sundaes! The coffee was great and our service was too! Great team work! Will definitely be back!
Terrible experience, I ordered the Belgian waffle with eggs and wheat toast. I made sure to order it with no sugar or fruit on top. The waffle was mushy and soft covered with powdered sugar. It was disgusting. You know those nice selections of syrup containers diners usually bring to your table with waffles and hotcakes? Not here, I asked for the syrup and the waitress pointed me to these generic cups of processed syrup. My toast was the most delicious thing on my plate. I only give 2 stars because the diner itself is really nice, truly a relic of the 50s era past. It really looks like one of those hidden gems youd see featured on Food network with delicious food. Unfortunately the food doesnt match the atmosphere At All. Looks like the local regulars keep this place in business..
Gave this place a try after all my friends recommended it. Even traveled from over an hour away. I liked the vibe inside, and prices. We ordered food, appetizer and desert. I wouldn’t say it was the best diner food I’ve ever had. It was okay. Nothing special. Our waitress greeted us and just said “hi”- literally nothing more. So needless to say I was very turned off- not great BASIC customer service.
First time there a day ago and I was surprised by how terrible it was. With all the raves about the place and the food I was truly disappointed. I ordered the trash plate as I was so so hungry.. I also asked for no mac salad and in place put coleslaw. Well if your coleslaw is pureed and a soup content let the customer know. So my fries were soggy so were the hamburger patties. The meat sauce was 4/10 alsoNext time Ill just stick to a milkshake
The atmosphere is really good staff friendly and I dont mind paying cash they could raise prices to cover cost of credit and be far ahead and still be on the lower end of affordable prices. The food is ok but they lack the demand of kitchen help to be detailed. slightly burnt pancake and slightly chared omelets well done on out side but not cooked on inside an omelets this big should have fresh vegetables grilled prior to filling but good quality veggies.
I arrived with my mother and best friend..the elderly waitress seemed annoyed with all our questions. She treated us like a burden huffing and rolling her eyes at every little thing we asked. Meanwhile shes laughing joking and chatting it up with the local regulars. We ordered the spaghetti and it was over cooked mush. This place is all about the cliqs country bumpkins who swallow down the pig slop this place has to offer with a smile. We felt more like we were intruding on someones private property than at any welcoming public Dîner. If youre not a local steer clear..you WILL be treated differently.
I am so glad I found this place! The service was good and the food was excellent. It was very clean and very cozy. The atmosphere was nice. Its a 50s style diner. They have great tasting comfort food. I shared Connies Quickie (a hamburger on a bun and French fries with gravy poured all over both. It tasted so good. Great gravy.) And a cheesecake waffle with strawberries and whipped cream with my husband. They used real strawberries and real whipped cream. Our bill was so much less than I thought it would be too. I highly recommend Connies Quickie!
This diner is a must! Parking is easy, food and service is great. Menu ranges to burgers and fries to dinner entes. We specifically love going for their loaded milkshakes, they are a meal in itself! Public restrooms and decent amount of seating. First come first serve, cash only but do offer an atm on site. Always a great time whenever we go, thanks!
A local’s place in Waterloo that is exceptional… Thank 50s and 60s and it just brings back so many memories. We ate here for breakfast. We would’ve returned it for any occasion… The restaurant is packed because the people love the food. If you have an opportunity this is a restaurant you definitely want to try out.
Great place to relax and eat homemade food. Not to mention the amazing dessert cakes, pies and milkshakes. It has the atmosphere of late 1960s diner. With servers dressed as that era. Did I also mention how affordable the food is? Cant wait to catch diabetes later in life.
Cheap eat, clean, good service and good food... except for coffee but at $1.29 for unlimited coffee, what do you expect. Portion sizes are huge! This place is cash only so make sure you bring your $$$ Really wanted to try in homemade pies but the pancakes didnt leave room.
This was our first time there... and we will be back again for sure.... looked busy when we got there but the wait time was only about 10 min... the service was amazing... rhe food was perfect..i had chicken parm and mashed potatoes...my fiance had the honey dipped chicken.... everything was mouth watering.... i have nothing but good tk say
Went here with my girlfriend and her parents. I ordered a Peanut Butter & Chocolate Loaded Milkshake for my girlfriend. They brought her a brownie milkshake. I asked the waitress to correct it. She brought out a brownie milkshake with a peanut butter top. I said at this point I want it taken off the bill. She said the owner refused. I will not be returning.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE it here its literally my favourite dinner Ive ever been to. The retro feel makes me feel im in the 50s. The food has always been amazing and the wait staff is always wonderful. I always look forward to being in the area so I can have an excuse to come over and enjoy my favorite restaurant.
Been here a few times. If you dont know already, Connies is known for their milkshakes. My daughter ordered the cannoli shake and she said it was amazing. It looked amazing. Anyhow, I had one of the traditional items on the menu, a cheeseburger and fries. It was very good as well. Service is also very good. Servers serve with a smile. Always a good pit stop in Waterloo NY. Also, they accept cash only. Worth every penny.
We took a large group there for dinner, about 50 people. We scheduled with them well in advance and they were friendly and fast with the food and service was great! Love there onion rings. Only criticism is that do not accept credit card. Luckily we had enough cash to cover and there is an ATM in the lobby.
Found this place due to being in the area for the day. Ordered meatloaf dinner and had Milkshakes after. Really good. Food came out super fast and looked delicious. Wait staff could definitely use some work though. At least the two different waitresses we had. Not really welcoming had an I dont really care attitude. Which is unfortunate, because I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Maybe it was just an off night for them. At least thats what Im going to go with. Though I will be back, and am hoping my service is a completely different and a lot better. Seems they have a lot of regulars that stop in.
Great diner, food was fairly good. Arrived to discover they dont except cards or checks as payment only Cash, ATM was out of order as well! Luckily the couple we were with had the cash and covered the bill.. had I known this I wouldnt of driven 40 minutes to feel embarrassed by this....The shake was as quoted amazing. Crazy price, but amazing! I had a Reubens and let me tell you if your on a search for a good Reubens then you better keep going as you will be very disappointed in the one... I will be back for a different choice of food as im sure something on the menu is absolutely worth while.
This place is true gem! Vintage chrome diner with all the elements of class. Greeted with a warm and friendly hello, we knew we hit the jackpot. Menus in hand and a fresh pot of coffee our waitress appeared to take our orders. She was pleasant, happy and engaging - a much needed factor that we all crave during this pandemic. I thoroughly enjoyed the homemade corned beef hash and my husband had home fries that were equally made with love - the way a true diner should. Knowing that they have the best pies in town we took a slice of coconut cream pie to go. Thank you to Connie and her amazing staff for caring so much and doing it right, constantly all these years. Two happy foodies for sure! You deserve 10 stars ♥️
We stood at the entrance next to the wait to be seated sign. No one greeted us for almost tens mins. The line backed up out the door. A couple pushed passed us and just sat down. Completely unorganized and seemed to have no system to give us an idea of wait times. Walked out without eating.
I have been seeing posts of Connies Diner on Facebook for a couple of months. We live about an hour away. We drove out there just to get dinner. And they didnt disappoint! The staff was super friendly. They were extremely busy but wait time was less than ten minutes. The food was all hot and fresh, not to mention, delicious!! And of course we had to try the signature shakes. Absolutely amazing!!
Great place for breakfast anytime of day. Always seem to have a crowd, a very popular place. After four attempts (too hungry to wait in line) we made it in for lunch. Food was tasty as always, and great service. The only downside to eating here is its cash only. There is a atm in the lobby.
The food was good and the line out the door moved surprisingly fast! We got the really big fancy milkshakes but I was disappointed unfortunately. I think they used too much milk as they were pretty thin and lacking in flavor. The only other gripe I had was there floor under the table was disgusting. I understand it can be hard to deep clean when its so busy but I felt gross stepping on the amount of eggs and bacon that was under there. Otherwise a very cute and good diner!
Fantastic! Everything we had was cheap, huge, and AMAZING! Every bite of everything we had was brilliant! Even down to the toast!I got a breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel, but I also tried their omelets, French toast Italian style, blueberry pancakes, etc. Also the quickie burger is genius!
Favorite local diner with great daily specials. Fast, friendly , efficient service every time. Delicious classics such as the infamous Quickie, Patty melts, stuffed Belgian waffles, and giant homade pies with freshly whipped cream. Thank you, Connies, for the years of Sunday family breakfasts and afterschool milkshakes!
Id like to give this place a better rating as I live close by and used to come here often. But when I took my wife there for a birthday lunch we where highly disappointed by the service and the food. The haddock sandwich was served literally stone cold except for a slight detectable warmth at the one edge of the fillet. They where only moderately busy but we waited a good while for our desserts and then also for the check.
Ive been to this restaurant before and Chad a great visit and good food. This visit wasnt the best. Our waitress seemed to pfere the bigger groups of people, acted like it was a chore to attend to us, came twice to our table to check on us we had to ask for our check to pay from another waitress. The food wasnt the best either.
The images of fancy milkshakes lure you in but nothing was amazing and the bill was very expensive. I had a turkey melt which was just okay. Everyone Else was okay with their food but we all regretted spending so much on milkshakes. The whip cream is weird nothing like homemade. I did however have a black forest cake there once which was amazing. I feel bad giving bad reviews but I dont think I would go again.
Connies is so lovely, I love that old diner feel and ALL the staff is wonderful. Bonnie and Crystal are both spectacular and I tend to always gravitate toward them. The food is great and for someone that has texture issues I can order what I want when I want it. Cooks are great at their jobs. If you can, call and get it to go right now tho. Connies is small and the team there still makes a take out meal just as good. They deserve at least that.
Crispy bacon and hash browns that were a nice golden brown without being soggy: thats about all I need to be satisfied with a diner! Also: A group of friends and I did a bike outing, starting at the Geneva waterfront park and taking the Canal Trail into Waterloo. Waterloo has nice bike lanes through downtown, so it was very easy and safe to navigate from the trail head to Connies. Theres plenty of space out front to park bikes (though no designated bike rack).
Food wasnt that great. Waitress seemed like she didnt want to be there. Slammed dishes down and didnt come back for refills. Food was way overpriced for what we got in terms of quality. The only saving grace were the milkshakes. Had it not been for the delicious milkshakes I would have given this one star. My advice: order takeout from here and stick to dessert.
Went there for the 1st time, had wanted to go for a long time because I had heard how good it was, so I took my granddaughter for her birthday. We all LOVED it sooo much!! Cant wait to go back again! The wait was well worth it! The food was DELICIOUS! The service was EXCELLENT! Will be going back again and again! 😍👍!
The food is amazing and very cheap for what I had, which was the roast turkey dinner. Consisting of homemade stuffing, turkey, gravy, potato, cranberry sauce, cole slaw and 2 slices of bread. Priced at $9.99 The staff is a very friendly and smiling bunch. They are busy but they dont let your service suffer. I recommend Connies Diner to all.
We just had such an amazing experience at Connie’s for my daughter’s birthday! They did such a great job of accommodating a large group of 17 on a very busy Sunday. Crystal, our waitress, was top notch! She handled our group amazingly, and was so polite. She got everyone’s order and bill exactly right. She even brought my daughter shake out with a candle and sang happy birthday. Thank you for making her birthday lunch so fun and special!
Went there with my mom and friend while visiting the Waterloo outlets and we were all very disappointed. Good service, good toast and good fried pickles but everything else was mediocre. My friend ordered an omelet and everything in the inside was raw, we notified our server they took the omelet back to fix it and when it came back the eggs were the only part further cooked when we specified the veggies that were inside. The steak in my moms salad was absolutely charred and I️ ordered a chicken wrap that had warm limp lettuce. Not bad prices but wouldn’t really recommend.
First time here. Its cash only and the food is good. Good portions and they have some cool desserts to. I had a chicken tender wrap with fries which was about 8 dollars, they have huge specialty milkshakes for 11 dollars and we got fried pickles and fried mushrooms which were about 6 dollars each. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and there is an atm on site.
This place is amazing! What you would think is a small restaurant that serves average food is actually a diamond find !!!Best food Ive had in awhile and the best of all the most amazing craft milkshakes!!!!My wife had the brownie explosion milkshake. A huge chocolate shake with real home made whipped cream, chocolate sauce, sprinkles and a brownie on top !! Wow. Sooooo delish !Treat yourself and go go go !!
Food is amazing, waitresses were quick and helpful food arrived fast even when it was crowded. Food was delicious. This place has an obvious and long history and experience with a 50s diner atmosphere. Only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because they only take cash but they have conveniently installed an atm for you right inside the door. Genius actually. They push the high costs of being a credit card vendor onto the customer. 4 dollars to take cash out. Genius for them. A small inconvenience for the hungry customer, but worth it for the quality of food and friendly service you get here. Highly recommend. Bring cash. :)
This is one of my favorite places to eat since I was a child. I will find a reason to go to Waterloo just to stop at Connies. This place hustles. Never had a bad meal. Portions are generous. Prices are reasonable. Service is fast and friendly. Be sure to bring cash to avoid an ATM fee.
So went for a trip to sauders... And this is the place that gets five stars. Super fast service, good food, great waitress. It was the best diner experience I have had in about 10 years. We had dinner ( it was a full house and we still had our dinners in about 10 minutes). Waitress was friendly and attentative( not annoying). Food was hot and good. Dessert was awesome. Thank you for a great experience. My hubbie and I enjoyed ourselves, and it was worth the hour trip.
My husband and I went there because I was craving some meatloaf and mashed potatoes and That is exactly what I ordered. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan plate. The food was great, got two thick slices of meatloaf and the mash and corn were good. Also my husbands portion was big too. Waitstaff was friendly. Love the decor and was clean. Great food and even better pricing. Would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for tasty food but is a bit low on the budget.
First time visit, have driven by over a 100 times. We decided to give it a try. I ordered the turkey dinner my husband got the pork roast. Holy gravy. Everything came smothered in gravy. Very large portions. There must have been 2 cups of mashed potatoes on my plate. It was a mound. You will not leave hungry from plates I saw. The service was slow, she walked by 6 times. It was a Saturday evening and tables were filled as soon as people stood up. The waitress was pleasant but never came back to check on the table. Homey comfort cooking. Reasonable, our bill was $25
Connies is everything you want in a traditional diner!Breakfast Selection: Excellent options / tons of sides / everything was perfectly cookedI had the chili omelet, and it was to-die-for! They said the corned beef hash was homemade but Im a little skeptical of that claim. Either way, it was grilled perfectly and went amazingly well with the omelet.Service / Staff: Impeccable. Everyone seems to enjoy working there and working with the customers. I dont think I saw any of the waitresses stop for a moment and the bus boys seemed to be bringing out clean dishes every other minute. The place runs like a top.Cleanliness: You could eat off the floors, the place is spotlessDecor: 60s diner era decor makes you feel welcome and nostalgic.HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Have you had your quickie today? Haha this diner is so fun. The food is delicious, cheap, and the overall experience cant be beat. Employees are friendly and make you feel like family. You really cant go wrong with anything on the menu. Try their desserts though, theyre fantastic. (By the way, a quickie is a burger and fries smothered in gravy, theyre also a good option from the menu.)
Classic diner with classic diner waitresses and really good food. The place is pretty full when we arrived. Sit where you like. The waitress was friend and efficient, no wasted movements. We had breakfast fare. The food was good and delivered quickly and hot. I would go a little out of my way to go here again.
This truly is my favorite place to eat in my 33 years of life thus far. They are not pricey and you get good portions. They also serve breakfast all day which is a major bonus. The staff is always friendly always quick to serve. It is worth a stop for a classic Diner experience if youre passing through. If you live around here and have never been... You should probably stop being mean to yourself and check it out.
Connies is a great place for breakfast. Everyone with us selected the classic breakfast. All agreed that it was delicious, but several of us experienced indigestion afterwards - the home fries were quite greasy. We plan to return but will be a bit wary of the home fries.

2022-05-14Stopped in for dessert. Had the banana split which was awesome. They use real whipped cream. Saw some people getting milkshakes and they were huge! They are cash only but there is an ATM in the vestibule.

2021-08-10Came here for the first time while in Waterloo to shop. The food was pretty good, I got the shrimp, fries and coleslaw and I enjoyed it. My husband liked the meatloaf, and my son enjoyed his chicken tenders. We also all got a strawberry cheesecake milkshake which was very good but it’s very filling so I suggest sharing. I wish the service had been better, if so I would’ve given 5 stars. But I’d still return.

2021-06-24Loved it! The food came out so fast for it being so busy. Had the Bacon Mac and Cheese Burger, Summer Salad, loaded waffle fries and two loaded shakes between my boyfriend and myself. We enjoyed every bit of it. Saved some of our food so we could enjoy the shakes. And we even took those with us. We enjoyed them after a day in the freezer too! It was just like ice cream. I suggest this place if youre ever in the area or close by.

2021-09-23Great food amazing hospitality. Just relaxing and the service is outstanding. I am truly missing it right now. Due to the tragic fire that happened in the basement. I am truly sad for this iconic restaurant. Its one of the best places, to bring back the old days. Hope to see it back up and running again.😭🙏

2021-11-19AWESOME SERVICE!! I had the hot meatloaf not thick piece like most places but was good. Bring cash they don’t take cards
