I have been trying to make an appointment on line every Thursday at 8 a.m. for the last 3 weeks and cant get any available dates. It doesnt show me anything. I have been trying to call and put in 0 for an operator and cant get a human being. WHAT CAN I DO????? CAN ANYONE HELP???
I have been trying to make an appointment for around two months because I need to renew my passport. The system always shows that there are not appointments at all, so I went to the consulate to ask for help, I nicely ask to the guy at the front door, but the guy got angry and answered to me in a very sarcastic and rude way that he couldnt anything to help me. So disappointed.
Website appointments do not work, they never answer the phone, and they never reply to emails. I just went there directly and i found so many people outside gathered with the same problem no appointmet because the website is.. well from the 90s and.... it is 2022 can we get up to speed and have someone answering phones and emails please????
I want to renew my passport and this it’s very complicate because by chats, call and website I cannot accomplish anything! I need an answer and can never get it. I have the opportunity to go to the consulate before and my deception is terrible because the service in this place is horrible!! you are the consulate is the representation in USA for my country and I can’t believe how my country can elect the staff working in this positions that do not have any compassion and humanity to represent their own people with respect and dignity. I would appreciate if this matter is looked into and resolved. Thank you
Very Nice!! The front Desk Lady very nice. (Probably they should be more specific for the requirements to become Colombian citizen if you were born out of US and you have Colombian parents) now living in U.S. but, the attention is nice. 🙏😊 I missed my appointment(I didnt have everything but, Im glad to come back soon) 👍
If I could give 0 stars I would. Terrible service. Very rude. They say they give out 200 tickets but it’s a lie. They make you wait in line since very early only to tell you 1 hr after they open that they already saw the 200 people. The web service it’s obsolete. This office is a complete joke as a representation of the Colombian citizens. They are completely out of touch. The worst costumer service I have ever experienced if I didn’t need to go there I would never go back.
My personal experience at the Colombian Consulate in NYC for the purpose of urgently renewing my passport was OUTSTANDING. Due to a new wave of Covid which appeared to have affected some of the officials there, and looking to protect the public, they decided to cancel all appointments at the last minute; however, I reached out to the Consulate via email conveying my concern and they were very responsive granting me an appointment the following day. My urgency was taken seriously and I felt supported by my Consulate. The lady who helped me was very professional and friendly making sure all the requirements were correct while I was there to avoid any errors and subsequent delays. Needless to say, Im very happy and grateful to have my updated passport at hand. Thank you so very much for your support and service.* Si necesitas contactar a un oficial en el Consulado, hazlo por medio de correo electrónico - que sea breve y conciso.
I have been trying to speak to someone on the phone regarding my cédula de ciudadanía which I applied for in February 2020 and it’s impossible to speak to an actual person . I’ve tried several times with no luck . I’ve been on hold listening to their recorded music for over 90 minutes and still waiting !!!!! Their phone service is horrible!!!
Terrible service. I have been trying for 3 days to contact someone in the consulate. I have called many times and there’s no one to talk. I have also tried to used the chat and video call, that are supposed to be 24 hours, yet I have waiting each time over 30 minutes and no one ever answered. What a shame, they need to do a better job here.
Some of the staff are extremely rude, the web sight says it closes at 2pm but, the lady downsatairs said they stop taking people at 1:40pm. She said I had 7 minutes to print a document around the corner or she would not allow me to come in I explained my son traveled in 3 days and that was my only day off and sunday was closed and that closing time was at 2... she replied you have 7 minutes!!! I ran to print it got there by the 7 minutes and had to wait 15 for someone to call me which they didnt so she asked someone to do atend me almost at 2 !!! They made no sense they just dont like working and have horrible customer service
Everybody is very helpful except the guy in the front desk, truly a rude and careless guy. Either he is miserable or they don’t pay him enough. Went to pick up my cedula and was being extremely rude even was talking bad about colombians..dude ur colombian! Hope he gets fired. Other than him the place is great, website could use some help but whatever
I have to say that I’m totally disappointed with the way that, they treat people and the absurd of wait almost 8 hrs for a process which is was a renew my passport that only took 10 min. Please fire the guy that works in the front door, he is a disgusting and mean person
I must say that I am surprised about all the negative comments from some people. I have to say that every time I am in the Consulate in NY, I left with a very pleasant feeling not only from the high standards customer service but for the opportunity to talk to Colombian citizens working overseas. It would be unfair to say the opposite. If something that characterized Colombians is their courtesy and politeness and that is what I’d experienced for the last 34 years as a Colombian citizen visiting the consulate. I guess some people had bad experiences but not in my case. Probably part of the NY attitude.
Worst place ever to go make a legal errand, the waiting time outside in the cold was 3 hours and i still missed the process to deal on this day i also missed a whole day of work and their online system for appointments are useless, worst embassy experience and this is in nyc so imagine 🤦🏼♂️Very unprofessional site and staff
I give one star because I was there to get some documents. In the same time I have a question about cedula de extranjeria for my husband. The person didnt know about and her respond was completely wrong. She call other person to ask my questions, the second person didnt let me talk was rude and very unprofessional. She confused me more. She said go online and due for yourself.
My father needs to renew his passport because he has an emergency to attend to in Colombia, no calls are being answered and I’ve been calling for like 3 days straight! How is he supposed to get his passport ?? The website tells him to put his information to make an appointment but there Is no appointments available?? Like come on what’s going on!? Nothing works the phoneline nor the website . It’s super frustrating !! New York get it together!!
I keep calling and nobody answers just this prerecorded annoying colombian accent lady that talks for what seems forever and when you finally hit the number to get transferred to one of these lazy people you never get transferred! She keeps talking in her lazy sleepy accent! Lol I want to kick some rocks ! Completely horrible. I told my husband hes going to have to go in person and possibly waste his time trying to get answers.
This is completely frustrating ,unorganized and careless. You can spend hours on the phone and can’t get a person to talk to you, the prompts given do not work says you have pressed an incorrect key !!!!! I’m wondering who is managing this place this is absolutely unacceptable!!!! SHAME ON YOU CONSULADO DE COLOMBIA , I wish I can give you negative stars!!!!!!!!
I was there today and their computers were offline. That’s normal things happen even at the most prestigious places. I got there at 1:20 pm, (mind you they closed at 1:45 pm). There was 10 people in there who stayed for the computers to comback online. 20 minutes later the systems were back on but they only give service to 3 people. They still have the Colombian mentality, disregarding people’s needs and priorities. Basically.... they just don’t give a dammed if people need to be taking care of. Like if it’s our fault the computers went down.I lost a day off from work thanks to this Colombian mentality. Other places they close the door yet they still taking care of the people inside..... banks or other public buildings.Shame!!
I would have to say that I am well pleased with the dedication and hard work of the workers at this consulate. From the moment I stepped the Guard was very helpful and courteous.I had to register my marriage and they had some trouble finding the name of the capital of Anguilla where my wife and I were married. It took them almost seven hours to do it, but they did. I am truly grateful for the service of this consulate.
They NEVER answer a call or Email. I am calling for months.Ever Never I see this worse situation in any office in the World. Very bad service.Change the Consul, is a very simple situation easy to correct...Is ridiculous...And some of the employs are nasty...No good are all
If I could give the people at this place a negative star I absolutely would. The purpose of a consulate office is to provide nationals of a certain country living abroad services unique to the country. The people at this location forget what their purpose is and quite often treat individuals as if they were there for favors. Lets not forget that their very existence depends on our tax money and we pay very expensive fees for documents. If you try to ask legitimate questions they will look at you like you have six heads, if you try to question any absurd practice or fee you might as well request to be thrown out of the place. If you try to obtain simple, readily available information you have better luck asking the bum on the street to give you a free meal. The people working at this location have absolutely no business there as they do not give an absolute crap about the people that come here every single day seeking assistance. I personally cannot say that I was mistreated as I am the type of person that would not tolerate or accept that sort of attitude and behavior towards me, but seeing older women, women with small kids and obviously desperate and distraught individuals get humiliated by man and women that feel like they are on top of the world is outright frustrating. People in these sort of positions which represent an entire nation should be given basic people skills training above anything else. You simply do not sit there, push papers and work a stamp all day while humiliating those very same people that pay your salaries.
I got there 20 min. before 8AM, I was the first one on the line. When the porter started giving the numbers I asked for mine and he told me that I didnt need it one. Obviously, five people were attended before me and when I told the Vice consul, Maria Lucia Villalba Gomez, what was happening, instead of giving a solution or at least and apology she started screaming at me, telling me that I should be grateful that they are giving a service, as if they are doing it for free. They should hire somebody with professionalism, with good public relations. I feel so embarrassed having Mrs. Villalba Gomez taking care of people at our Colombian Consulate!
Always helpful, as Colombian living in NYC for years, every time I have gone to run errands in the Colombian consulate they are efficient and attentive. They also provide workshops and conferences in regular basis to their community on all the subjects of their interest. The PR department is incredible creative with art and networking events. On top of that the general consul is one of the most progressive woman I ever known. She is always available and reachable to the Colombian community.
I have had a terrible experience at this Consulate. The new Consul, Maria Isabel Nieto, has done a terrible job at this consulate. She has changed everything for the worse. She has a lot a people harassing, bullying, policing, and mistreating Colombian citizens everywhere. She has created a system where you have to do unnecessary long lines outsite the consulate to get piece of papers just to justify the job of these people. She has people policing every move you do. These people start yelling and treating you like a criminal. Another issue is that the information provided in the website is misleading. They have posted that you can pay using credit cards, but when you are there they have signs saying that they only take money order and you have to pay someone for a money order. Also, they do not inform people that you could have them delivering documents, but you have to bring envelopes and stamps. For example for a passport is $10 in stamps. There is no information about this whatsoever in the website.Colombian citizens, please if you have to go to this horrible place, do not let these people mistreat and bully you. Ask for respect and better service. Two years ago, customer service used to be much better.
I went back to the Colombian consulate for the first time in 10 years, to legalize some documents, and what I saw and experienced, made me very proud. The first floor has been transformed in a waiting room/gallery space and the service was systematized and precise, like the one in federal offices, but with a familiar tone and smile, making me feel welcome and at home. Now, the list of cultural programs is in my agenda, and try to attend every time I can.
I went yesterday with my two kids age(1) and (13) to the 3erd floor they were waiting in a little room , i was signing some paperwork and keeping eye on them at the same time this guy Felipe came rude to my son and ask him to go downstairs i tell them no because hes a minor and were there first he didnt care and he wanted my son to also take my baby downstairs my son got out of the building and he almost lost because of Felipe from the 3erd floor
I had to go there several times because I need it to get my passport and another documents, every time I was there it was a desaster there is no order on the way they do things. I think is just way to many costumers for so little people working there. Some of the employees were very rude not just to me but to other people as well.E
Im a native Colombian but I was raised in NYC, in the beginning I thought they were very efficient but Ive been trying to resolve an issue with my birth certificate being that I was born in Barranquilla but theres no record. Theyve had me send emails back and forth to the registry department in the Capitol of Bogota and when I received an official email to reconstruct my B.Certif at the consulate theyve given me to many buts and no solutions!!! Ive gone there 3 times already and tomorrow will be my forth time to see if they can resolve my issue. Too much protocols, Im a native Colombian with a Colombian ID and still no solutions 😖
ITS A HORRIFIC, DESPICABLE SERVICE THAT THE CONSULATE HAS. I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT NO ONE ANSWERS THE PHONES AND THAT SERVICE IS ONLY UNTIL 1PM . CAN THEY UNDERSTAND THAY PEOPLE HAVE TO WORK TO LIVE? I TELL YOU I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO COMMUNICATE WITH SOMEONE AND TO NO AVAIL I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO DO SO. I GET TRANSFERED TO BOGOTA, COLOMBIA. AND I WAS TOLD THAT SOMEONE WILL GET BACK TO ME WITHIN FASHIONABLE TIME AND AS OF TODAY NO ONE HAS. NOW WE ENTERED TO THE THIRD WEEK. I TRIED TO OBTAIN FORMS TO COMPLETE AND NOTHING - IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THEM - I THINK THAT THEY SHOULD GET TOGETHER AND REVAMP ALL THE PROCEDURES FOR A BETTER CUSTOMER AND ATTENTION TO THE PUBLIC....POLITICS AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND LARGE AMOUNTS OF MONEY CHARGE FOR SIMPLE THINGS AND NO CONSIDERATION OR RESPECT. MY GRADE ZERO.
Super conveniente y facil, le an arreglago el proceso artisimo y son muy efficientes y amigables.(se necesita money order como pago antes de entrar)Super convenient and easy, they facilitaded the system a lot and everyone seems very efficient and friendly (you need money orders before you go in do heads up)
The front desk person does not nothing about what documents the person needs to complet any kind of procedure, and unfortunately is the only person that supposedly gives you info and send you to the right place and person to complete your task. That man send you to the wrong place inside the consulate or he does not check the documents you bring. Awful service and is a complete waste of time.
Their website doesnt have the complete information, and when you call the consulate no one ever answers the phone or the voicemail is full. The website says that customer service is 24h, but none of their contact choices work, they are always out of service! I emailed them once, and they got back to me weeks later.
Worst place ever,Why would they need 10 stamps bought from the people outside when i had mine bought at the post office,This people are so unprofessional and very rude! I think this people have some business going around with the people outside selling the stamps and the pictures ,with the people inside the counsel.. The worst place ever,,,
THIS PLACE SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED AND REPORTED. The service is lousy, getting an appointment is impossible and not to mention the website. The service schedule is a monument to laziness, they work 4 hours! It is a shame. There is an obvious trade between the consulate staff and the people who take the passport photos and stamps. How badly represented are we Colombians in New York. The treatment that these people have towards their compatriots is outrageous. This place is really sad. It is a clear reflection of the lousy system of the Colombian government.
The person at the entrance is too disrespectful. Even though my mom is elderly, she refused to give us the necessary help or at least tell us about the process. Additionally, he slammed the door in our faces. It is to emphasize that the last thing that interests the consulate is the well-being of its fellow citizens.
Its horrible, everything is by appointment, they stayed in a pandemic for what suits them, starting with the person at the entrance who says hes not there for questions and answers, just to let people in, to the point of telling a Colombian who was there, that they only lent the place to register IDs to exercise the vote and that that is not their obligation.Still with appointments and the system goes down and call to see if its fixed!!!! Incredible that they are the support of Colombians abroad and cannot help in a cordial way and not with such negligence and arrogance! We are going from bad to worse !!!
2 hours trying to make an appointment, and I did not get an answer, and they do not give you the option to select the day, my friend was sent the appointment to his email. IT SEEMS that nobody there cares about the bad comments because they DO NOT do anything to improve the
The service is lousy. The tension is horrible, they think they are gods, the schedule is miserable, they only work 6 hours a day, appointments are almost impossible, the appointment page opens for only 5 minutes, they say that certain procedures do not require an appointment and when you arrive they tell you quotas are limited and there are no quotas, this is humiliating and disgusting.
Trying to do some paperwork at the consulate is the worst thing there is, you have to make an appointment and you go to the page to make an appointment and the page never works and you go to the consulate and they dont attend you if you dont have an appointment because they make you so difficult things for us? Why do we have to put up with so much red tape and ineptitude from our public officials? That is why we are as we are, contrary to making things easy as they do in this country (USA).
Jobs of political quotas, in Colombia and abroad, public officials are the ones who do their job poorly, arrogant, arrogant, slow, this New York consulate has been without an appointment system for more than 2 months and dont even think about going because They are so cheeky to tell you that everything is by appointment, knowing that the system does not work. In newark it works fine
The service is not good: I have been waiting approximately 1 month to get an appointment for authorization to leave a minor, there is only one recording on the phone and no one answers, the website has errors and sometimes it does not even recognize the identification data or simply does not show any dating information.
This consulate is a joke and I am amazed at the level of mediocrity that you cant even make an appointment. I need to renew my passport and it is taking much longer than necessary. I wonder if they have already been sued for negligence here in the United States. I am also a citizen of another country - what if you care about seriously offering consular services to your fellow citizens. It really is the minimum.
At the time of calling they say that the procedures are with appointments, that you go to the website and click on the button to schedule an appointment, to make passport appointments they are enabled on Thursdays at 8am, I just entered and the appointments are not even enabled . Who understands these people?
The worst service, unprofessional people. Impatient, rude, haughty, disrespectful. Their Customer service is 0. They even vetoed me for telling them the truth in their face. In 18 years that unfortunately I have had to come and deal with these people, they have never been competent for the service they are supposed to provide.Nothing works the right way here. Online appointments never work, Ill have to go to Colombia to do the errands I couldnt do here because of its inefficiency. The worst service, unprofessional people. Impatient, rude, haughty, disrespectful. Customer service 0. They even banned me for telling them the truth to their faces. In 18 years that unfortunately I have had to come to deal with these people, they have never been competent for the service they are supposed to provide. Nothing works here. Internet dating never works, I will have to go to Colombia to do the errands that I could do here, due to its inefficiency.
Unfortunately this place has the worst care. The hours are terrible, I dont understand why they dont open until 5. They make you make an appointment and they make you wait for hours to see you. They have few staff and those who do the paperwork think they are presidents and politicians, they take their time as if they were not paid to provide a good service. For little and they make you feel like they are doing you a favor. As if the money to support them did not come out of our pockets! Definitely as good Colombians they represent what we are, people who arrive late serve slowly because yes and also reluctantly.
The service at the Colombian Consulate in New York is terrible. Goalie John Barrangan should be fired for disrespecting people who need information. It is seen that they still do not take action in the Consulate in relation to the complaints and the negative evaluations that they make of this man.
Worst. I went to the consulate to do a paperwork. First I asked if I could do the paperwork I had to do and they told me I had to wait. It took two hours for someone to attend to me to tell me that the procedure could not be done. I went to the consulate two weeks before and they gave me other information. And now tell me something else? Here the employees dont even know where they are standing and they dont know anything. He only keeps lazy cell phones. Terrible service! You should be ashamed.
It is a real annoyance that they make your appointment for a procedure when there is neither time nor appointment. I have been trying to make an appointment for a passport for over 2 months and today is Thursday March 31st 9:21am and I still havent gotten an appointment. Very bad customer service
Terrible service, there is never an appointment for any procedure. Today there was a day without an appointment and the system went down and there was a long line of people waiting without knowing if the system would work again. Its embarrassing that to do a passport renewal process you have to go to the consulate in Newark.
They told my daughter that to make an appointment it is from 8:00 to 8:30 am on the consulate page. He was trying at that time to make the appointment but they did not enable days to schedule the appointment. Previously they said that it was at 5 am that they enabled appointments but it was not possible either. My daughter is going to turn 19 and has not been able to get her ID. I know that in Colombia there is bad service but I think that the Colombian consulate in New York is the worst of all.
Very bad attention regarding the page. Because they place a telephone that doesnt work and to top it off a lady comes out all angry. Worse yet if you want to make an appointment do not leave the system. So if you want to vote in Colombia, if you already had your ID registered in the US, they only give you the option to vote in Bogotá, since I am in Colombia on that election date. I only told him well then I cant vote because Im going to Medellin. It seems to me the last straw and anyway they say that foreign votes do not count.
Very bad service, they are supposed to open at 8am for the public but at that time the employees start to come in, then the citizen comes out to let them in and starts by appointments and the one who does not have it or it is impossible to get it out, returns it home. Appointments are only available on Thursdays from 8am to 9am and if you dont come in you have to wait until the following week. They tell you to go to the consulates website for information but what is there is outdated because there is no new information or the information is not up to date, wasting your time and money. Send the complaints to the Colombian Foreign Ministry and there is no response, so good luck with your diligence.
The worst place to do a consular diligence. You have to make an appointment on the consulate page. The connection to do so is never open. I went in person to the NY consulate, they dont accept walk-ins. They tell me that they only open the connection, for appointments, on Thursdays. Today is Thursday. I have been trying for 50 times, both in New York and Newark.Likewise, there is no day available throughout the year to make an appointment. What a shame of service.
How sad that a Colombian cannot have help from his own country, they changed everything, you can no longer process IDs personally, but online and when you go to pay effectively they charge you and then they come out saying that there was an error and they can do nothing... my own country refuses to give me an ID that rightfully belongs to me. Not counting the rude man who greets you at the gate. Number of emails asking for help because I need my document urgently and nothing, everyone washes their hands of their bureaucratic procedures
How sad that there is no Colombian embassy in NYC. We are literally unprotected and have been for years. The place where we are supposed to go to receive help is useless, only to get in the way and to pay salaries to inefficient people, From the doorman. Not even the website makes them look good, now try to call hahaha this is a joke for those of us who unfortunately need their services.Needless to say, they are bragging about their high salaries in Colombia when the reality is that they are not ready for the job and they benefited from that job either because of a political favor or something that in Colombia is normally called thread.
I have been trying to make an appointment for 2 Thursdays since 7 in the morning today I went directly to the consulate for the third time in 2 weeks and nobody gives me a solution to my problem they do not let me enter the consulate to talk to the consul they only yell at me to leave at the door but when a pretty woman goes he goes out to enter the one without an appointment what a bad service what a shame for the lte consulate they treat you as if they gave you something for free I put the photos of the person at the door who only lets women in
I wish I could give zero stars, it is the worst embassy in the world!!! On the schedule it says 2pm and if you dont go before 11 am they are always super super busy, they are useless, I am ashamed that people like that deserve a salary and I know they are very well paid.If you plan to go, be prepared to have a lot of patience and not be filled with bad temper.
Why is it impossible to make an appointment with you? How many Colombians cannot travel when they have emergencies due to the negligence of the system they have created. The USCIS website receives millions of applications daily and its page works perfectly. Colombia is a failed state that cannot even provide a procedure for its citizens. Update. I have emailed you twice and no response. I will give some time. In the meantime I found this jewel:Can I sue a consulate for negligence?Yes you can. Similar to abandonment, acting negligently is probably a violation of a partnership agreement or operating agreement. Foreign countrys embassy, consulate or diplomatic mission located in the United States is subject to U.S. federal law and local law.
The website does not work the phone for an emergency question no one answers I had to call immigration to get an answer. And if you get to the door the super poor people answer reluctantly.Too bad we dont have help whenPlusWe need her, they must give herBetter training for the staff, not putting them in those positions simply because they are friends with someone bigIm sorryFor my comment but ImHaving a difficult time which needs help!!!
She spent half a year looking for a place for my mother, 94 years, I went to there with her, they returned to us because a worker tested positive for covi, we called, she did not answer online for a place, nothing until my mother died, what a terrible descent we have with reason, we are like we are I thought that here NY was better on the contrary
They do not have enough staff to attend to the needs of the community. To make a simple authentication, you have to make an appointment only on Thursdays at 8 am and there are so many people who want to make the page freeze and then, even if the data is entered, the appointment cannot be made, as simple as the page does not answer, the phone is NEVER answered and if you go directly to the consulate they do not attend you without an appointment nor can you make an appointment there. In short, it is INACCESSIBLE. Colombia maintains a consulate in New York that it serves for. NOTHING.
Today I had a very bad experience at the consulate, I have tried thousands of times to schedule an appointment to renew my passport and they do not give it. Thats why I decided to introduce myself, I was attended by an unfriendly man who didnt even consider the fact that I was traveling from CT.They should be a little more flexible and update the website, where the appointments are made because not all of us have time on Thursdays.
An “appointment” is required for any errand. The problem is that YOU CANNOT MAKE APPOINTMENTS because the page NEVER works, they dont answer the phone, they only put machines, they answer the email but saying exactly the same thing: that you have to make an appointment online 🤦🏼♀️…. WHAT A FRUSTRATION AND WHAT A SHAME OF A CONSULATE! How is it possible that these are the ones that represent us abroad?
I have been trying to make an appointment for more than 6 months, I have done everything the page tells me thousands of times, and I have left several emails without any response, I have called and stayed on the line for hours and nothing, I cannot get an appointment, I I physically approached the facilities in Manhattan and in no way did I get any information. What else do I have to do to access an appointment? How did you manage to get an appointment?
Hello Good morning, Ive been trying to make an appointment to renew my and my husbands passport for 3 weeks and until today I havent been able to do it...! I always go in on Thursdays but the appointment scheduling service is never enabled... My husband is an older adult, what other means can I use to renew our passports?
The services here are very delayed. They have to increase the number of employees, peoples time is valuable and here they make you wait two to three hours to do a paperwork. They must implement faster customer service. So much delay in this place is unapproachable. Bad administration. Much clutter and delay for a process. They have to hire more employees. A line of more than 3 hours to enter .. This service is unacceptable.
It will be that we must feel pride of being Colombians when we have the worst consuquency service in New York. A bit of people who think are important because they have a job that makes them more inhuman day by day, maybe they should remember that they have work because there are Colombians truly boarers in the USA.
Website dating is super hard to do. The page works super slow and you end up calling the office, where they almost never answer calls, and then they just tell you to go back to the web page. If you want to call and talk to someone its almost a 25-40 minute wait. (and they offer little help) I dont recommend going to this consulate.
The website to request appointments in NY does not work, and to make things more complicated, calling by phone takes 1 hour of waiting, sending an email notifying that the website does not work is the same-no solution or appointment. What an inefficient service that leaves the name of the punctuality of the ny consulate on the low. Being a government organization with a website that looks like its from the 2000s that doesnt do the most basic things is unheard of, to have a phone service where the point is that the person doesnt talk to a secretary but goes to a website that It doesnt work, its illogical. This is a sorry excuse for a consulate. The website section for appointments doesnt work. I have emailed to try to obtain help and no one answers. When I call, all options mention going to the website- a website that has the functionality of a site built in 2000. Hold time on the phone is over an hour. For a gov org this is a pretty sorry entity that needs an overhaul and an update.Pic of wait time no one came to the phone
User service is lousy. They lack a lot of ethics and consideration for users. It is not fair that they omit information on the page ... and then leave people out. They canceled previously enlarged appointments to make him waste time and money because they do not reach more than 200 chips. It is an abuse. Why did they stop giving appointments?

2022-07-10It’s not easy working with a foreign country from afar but the staff at the Counsel’s office are attentive, responsive and friendly. Keep in mind the processes are dictated by the federal government not the staff at the office. The work I needed to do with this team took over a year to accomplish but this was in the global pandemic 😷 so I was grateful for all their hard work.

2022-07-26The worst experience!! As a Colombian, it is extremely disappointing the way we are treated there. It is if they were doing us a favor. The person at the door is extremely rude,!! He thinks , he is the owner of the building and talks down to people in a very condescendingWay. Completely frustrated!! What a shame !! People just have to shutUp and put their heads down , otherwise the service will be denied. Very unfortunate to be treated this way by our own people.

2022-08-18The guy at the door was condescending and rude and belittled me for not having an appointment (although there was a line of people without appointments because their online system can’t handle requests and won’t load correctly). The website says appointments are necessary for some consular services not all. Then he mockingly explained what was needed to submit a death certificate to another country even when I told him I was asking because I didn’t know and hadn’t done it before and didn’t see the info on the website. I expressed my displeasure with being treated rudely and he was unapologetic.

2021-11-12My experience with Colombia was horrible. My girls and I got banned from the country just cause we got on the wrong line in the airport After getting screamed at and ignored because we didn’t know where to go, my daughter also screamed. They did not like the fact that we spoke back in a loud tone and did not calked them “SENOR”. We had our phones and our luggage taken away. The immigration officers refused to give us their name after putting their hands on my daughter and taking out a taser on her.Today I called the Colombian council to complain and take legal actions here n New York and waited three hours on the phone without an answerCan someone please advice me what to doColombian immigration are corrupted they stole our three luggage told us to pay if we wanted to stay in their country or else they will banned us. And they did!!I had never been so humiliated and scared to be in a country I even took a picture of the two officials that did all this to us without any explanation!!! Just told us that people that talk back to immigration are not welcome in their country

2022-06-07It is Incredible how hard is to renew a passport here. I have been trying for weeks to get an appointment and is impossible, the website is a total nightmare, there is no one to answer a phone or respond an email with general questions, This should be a place that welcome expat Colombians and help them, but you find here the exact opposite.

2022-04-23Trying to renew a passport is the most difficult task in this place. The staff is unhelpful. The website is useless. You try to email them and they dont even bother responding. This is just sad. How are this people representing my country. They are supposed to care for their people but they couldnt care less.

2022-05-02If i could give zero stars i would. I called for over an hour to get 2 questions answered and never got a response. Honestly the worse customer service ever. What are you guys really doing only work from 10-2pm and still manage to be the worse service.

2022-05-03Be prepared to wait a minimum of 1 1/2hours. I was lucky and had to wait 2 hours as the computer system went down for about 25 mins. Also, you have to make an appointment the week before your planned visit, but the open spots on the website sell out fast so keep that in mind. At least in NY you can get an appointment on a week to week basis. In Los Angeles, CA they dont have open appts till August. I was forced to travel from CA to NY to process my legal matters at the consulate. Tipical Colombian sense of urgency. It must be great to have the ability to work from 8am till 1:30pm. Where do I apply for that job?
