Aleem (one of the BEST workers) from Pakistan Consulate office in NYC was helpful, thoughtful, considerate, efficient, organized and cooperative in working to issue my father’s NICOP card.We trusted this bureaucratic process, and during it, almost gave up hope due to extenuating circumstances (unexpected questions from Pakistani authorities, long delays in processing, etc.), however Mr. Aleem assured us we would receive our card. He ensured consistent follow-up, actively dealt with Pakistani officials (on our behalf) and went above & beyond to process our application, all the way from submission to approval, and issuance of the card.I am impressed with Mr. Aleem’s commitment to our situation. We are truly blessed to have him work in the Consulate, especially admirable is his ability to handle affairs in a professional and familial manner. He did not stop helping us after submission of the application; he worked with us on each and every step of the way. I highly recommend Mr. Aleem’s services to any one who comes to this Consulate. I wanted to renew my passport so I made an appointment with them. I had all of the documents and their copies. My appointment was at 10:30 am and I got their on time, the gentleman at the reception my extremely rude for no reason. He asked me to sit and wait which was fine. After about 25 minutes I asked him how long it was going to be and in a rude way he told me to either wait or get out. After about an hour another gentleman came and asked me too show my documents. I showed them and he said that they needed both of my parents even though they are currently in Pakistan and have never made a passport. I asked him why they needed that and he said that only way they could verify if i am a Pakistani citizen. I showed my expired passport and my Nicop. I asked my when did they start asking for parent passport and he said for about 2 year. I told him that my brother came in to renew his passport passport about 1 week ago and they did not ask my parents passport. He become upset that his lie was caught and threw my documents back at me and told me to leave and that i was not allowed back. I was shocked and have launched a complain with their supervisors in Pakistan. Hopefully they do something and change the problematic workers. They are representing a country and need too control their tempers.
I booked an appointment to get a passport renewed for my 5-year old son. Unfortunately, I did not know that both parents needed to be physically present to complete the renewal. The consulate politely explained why both parents are now required vs. past. I went back to the consultant with my wife, and they helped me get the passport renewed. Alsothey helped me get Nicop without an appointment... just because they had 15 min to close and someone cancelled at the last moment. No one does that these days but the guy handling the Nicop area was highly generous to get it done. Saved a trip from New Jersey to New York City.
Amazing place. Very clean and well maintained. The staff is very friendly. I was very happy with the faculty member who helped me. I was there to renew my Pakistan Identification Card. The officer went out of his way to get everything done for me. Very cooperative, humble and out going. Very satisfied with my experience.
The experience for the customers at this consulate has changed a lot over the years. Recently, there approach is focused more towards solving problems. I needed help with my visa last minute and once i was able to contact them they were super helpful, understanding and accommodated and got the work done.
Thank you so much for the front desk lady. After couple of calls attempts she call ME BACK and said sorry we missed your call. Very professional, great gesture. I really appreciate it as we all know how these passport and visa process can be frustrated and no one answer. Thanks again for the lady on front desk. Keep doing the great job.
Remember the name: Aleem.My brother is deaf and wanted to renew the passport, and some people were really not helping him, instead they were making fun of him and his wife. Later I found out the people who were laughing on them were from passport department. But this man, Aleem who also work there in other department, worked with my brother and his wife and helped through out the process of renewing his passport until it was delivered to their house. My brother and his wife were really grateful and I personally liked his attitude of helping others and hope we have more people like him in Pakistani Consulate.
Horrible experience. I had an appointment that I booked a day before. I took a day off from work and took the kids out of school for passport renewal only to find out their system in Pakistan is down and they can not do anything. They told me I have to come back another day. I told them passport has already been applied online since January 2021, the online system keeps rejecting finger prints we are here with my mom today so please take her finger prints. I was told that’s not possible. We will just simply have to come back another day. I found it very rude and disrespectful to know we are living in 21st century. System down is just not an excuse enough. I took time out off from work, kids took day off from school. I paid a lot of fare (train, Uber) to get to New York from Long Island. I was simply told in a minute sorry you will have to come another day. I saw there was another person who was there for passport renewal and someone just literally pushed him out of the office because he said he needs to get his work done. Someone was making their video of pushing him out so they quickly ran in so not caught in the camera. Disgusting. This is the service of Pakistan we are getting in America. I’m ashamed to call myself Pakistani seeing their behavior and they represent Pakistan here. Shame on you. Horrible service.This behavior should not be taken in lightly and must be reported. We all need to start coming out and start complaining. No one should be treated this way ever ever ever.
I just saw lots of 1 Stars with really bad reviews about the Pakistani Consulate NY. Well i went there 2 weeks a go for my daughter’s passport renewal and the staff was very cooperative. I have lived my life in Dubai and have seen the worst pakistani embassy there. They treat us like animals there, standing in que since morning 7am and finish a simple job by 3pm. Here i was in embassy and out in not more than 5 minutes. I missed couple of documents but they still processed my application and told me that i can come back with the remaining documents next day alone without my daughter and wife and from there they will forward my application. We as a Nation should appreciate the good work done by our people also and that is why i am writing this review today. We don’t see where we are wrong but for sure we like to blame others. Even staying in America we go to lots of departments and sometime their system is down or card machine is not working. But we go back home quite because we know the laws here and we know what we’ll get back from them if we argue with them. We Love you pakistan and together we’ll fix issues Proud to be called Pakistani. Keep working hard and Making it a better place.
I called the Consulate of Pakistan about a problem I was having processing my payment on-line for the NICOP card. In the past I have had some bad experiences with the consulate and their customer service. But this time was totally different. I spoke to a young man named Aleem and he listened to what I had to say. He helped me process my payment for the first 2 applications that I had. When it came to the 3rd one, the system started giving him the same problem that I was having. He told me that he would call me in a few hours and we could try again. I was thinking that maybe he would forget, but to my surprise he called back in a few hours. The system was still not working. He told me that he would call me back in the morning and we could try again. Sure enough he called me back in the morning like he said. To make a long story short, Aleem went above and beyond to help me out with my problem. He provided excellent customer service and I would rate his customer service 10 stars if I could. Keep up the good work Aleem!!! The consulate should be proud to have an employee like you.
Amazing service so far. My passport application was done in minutes and the passport came back very quick. I needed some help with applying for my daughters visas and they helped me along all the way. Now with the Visas applied I am just waiting for them but with such great service so far I dont think there should be any problems.
I went twice for passport renewal and something else I had a horrible experience, very rude and ill mannered staff. I called in to ask about something and the person told me why are you calling me and asking me. Its a shame for our country to hire such individuals that puts our country down by giving such services. Our respective prime Minister Imran Khan says that we can complaint regarding any department that does not help customers with rude behavior but theres no change nor anyone to listen to our complaints living abroad. That is why people who live abroad are happy as they are treated well and heared .
Assalam Alikum5 stars for Young man Aleem, he made my visit very successful and made me forget all the wrong information, and attitude I received from other members over the phone.He didn’t only help me but he was answering the phone as well and was trying to calm the callers and helping them as well. I highly recommend an assistant for this young man who is as helpful as he is. He really deserves a recognition.Suggestions:Now about this place, it badly needs a modern touch, including paint, cultural pictures, furniture , ongoing Pakistani tourist sites on a huge screen in waiting room (right now they have only about 25 pictures on the small screen that doesn’t truly represent Pakistan all the way). This place need a large size picture of our Founder of Pakistan and Imran khan. I am surprised that they don’t even have a Pakistani flag there, at least I didn’t see because it wasn’t visible. They need to have that along with an American flag.
Everyone at the consulate and especially Mr Aleem was extremely helpful and accommodating when I went to get my new NIC and passport. Mr Aleem walked me through the whole process and I had my new documents within days. I have never had even close to such a pleasant experience dealing with the bureaucratic process in any country. Bravo Pakistan Consulate NYC!
Assalamalaikum, last week I was trying to get an appointment from attestation department for my brother for some very important documents , I got an appointment on line for February 2021 which did not work for us as these were time sensitive documents. I called the attestation department and explained them this situation and requested them to get an appointment, if some one else cancels their appointment. They were very kind and took my name and phone number and the next day gave us a new date which worked perfectly for us.The attestation is done and we are so relieved. I would like to Thank the attestation department and the gentleman with whom I had my conversation to give me a date and helping us to get our work done. Really appreciate their help and understanding our situation. Please keep up your good work, greatly appreciated your concern making things work for us. Thank you
Awesome experience at the Consulate while there for notarization. No unnecessary waiting and they were very courteous and respectful. The gentleman behind the counter even picked up on a error in our paperwork and printed out a fresh copy for us! Try that in another state or federal agency here!Thank you!
Overall experience was good for lost passport renewal even during pandemic. Couldn’t reach anyone via phone however email response was quick but usually incomplete info. Quick process in the consulate. Really like to mention that me and my parents (applicants) did not like physical condition of the consulate. Everything looked outdated including bathrooms. However few pictures of executive room probably upstairs look much better than downstairs public area.
I am calling and emailing from last one week to the Embassy for a very simple question which not yet answered and not even connected to the proper knowledgeable person to answer me, neither of one returned my phone call or email, the question is simple i issued a power of attorney in Pakistan 15 years a go and now i am here to cancel that and i have make the revocation of power of attorney and notarized as well but the web site has info that for power of attorney attestation the person need to appear personally along with original power of attorney but there is no info for revocation of power of attorney which is all ready registered in Pakistan from last 15 years, no one is answering and i am in Michigan USA, called and emailed multiple time but still hanging there, it is ridiculous!!!
They never make easy for afghan people it been 2 months iam waiting for visa i am calling every day for information nobody picked up my call I email no response for email i went there 2 times and they told the afghan visa approval comes from pakistan they check background and after that we gaving visa and i check in pakistan department they saying they already send file to issue me visa but in New york consulate corrupt people working there they asking for money they asking too much for visa then they saying afghanie people don’t like pakistan if any person gave very hard time to someone for no reason he will never like or respect that country.
Power of attorney needs an appointment and physical attendance no matter where you live. It can be done by courier service by sending a a notarized, signed power of attorney with fees certified check and application. If it can be done before then why it can’t be done since new government sworn in. For me to visit consulate for birth registration, NICOP renewal, power of attorney attestation, I won’t get them at all.The operator lady was very unprofessional by answering phone like someone answer own house phone. It must be “ thank you for calling consulate general of New York, name of person how can I help you”. The lady hanged up phone without resolution of the problem I called for and then she didn’t answer my subsequent phone calls. Worse service I have experienced in my 30 years dealing with Pakistani missions. This consul general must be terminated and replaced by new political appointee to be accountable to citizens.
Salam/Hello to all. we are moving to the better things.still in NY Pakistan consulate, the automatic call attending system is bad and do not transfer call to anybody. it need improvement. our Consulates are like our parents out side the Pakistan and they should be highly responsible and kind to the Pakistani citizens.i paid same money to US birth registration and certificate departments and to the NY Pakistani consulate. US gave me extremely great quality paper and in time. But Pakistani consulate took long time and sent me third class quality paper. But i am not hopeless.i believe one day we will deliver the best. These all institutes will do the best.
Wonderful experience. Online visa system is one of the best time saving process. My Mother called on Saturday from the Airport when she was really in need of help for the Visa because her ID card was expired. We called the consulate for urgent help the gentlemen who attended the call instructed us to apply for Online visa. It was surprisingly unbelievable that we got visa in minutes. The associate was continuously on the phone with me for fixing any technical issue while completing the application and He really helped us out.This office is really working hard for helping the Pakistani community.I was expecting a negative response but my expectations were wrong regarding the consulate customer service. They are doing a great job we should respect them as we do to other American offices.Thumbs up 👍 for Consul General Ayesha Ali you are doing great work I havent seen this kind of customer assistance in past I have been in the United States for the last 14 years.Thank you for the great service!
Thank you very very much Pakistani embassy, all staff is very cooperative, 1st I called embassy and female operator told me the email address for appointment than I took the appointment and reached there at same time, they took all documents and told me pick up time of passport because I forgot to bring a ups envelop otherwise they send me at home, Im very thankful to consulate General of Pakistan. I hope the same service will be always.
I dont know why I see bad reviews here. I wrote an e-mail regarding passport renewal services. I also requested for a call back. I got an auto reply that I will be contacted within a day or two. I got a call back within 2 hours. I had all the required documents with me as per their phone call and website. My work was done within a single trip.People with bad reviews should prepare the documents first as per the requirements rather than going to the embassy and complaining about the missing documents.

Honestly, at first glance I was feeling helpless when I wasnt able to get done with online visa application for our newborn.Thanks a lot to Mr. Syed Musharraf Sajjad who went beyond to give a call back for my concern. He was very helpful, particularly when I had difficulty getting the photograph upload to complete the visa application.
It was a breeze going through passport renewal process. It took a maximum of fifteen minutes to apply for one. Staff was nice and courteous. I was able to take advantage of Consulate Sunday hours.I think itll be great if we can have US Postal Service envelopes and stamps for mailing the passports. Paying for this additional service wouldnt be a problem for me. I didnt use photocopier this time but I wish it could accept credit cards.
Really had Good experience at Pakistan Consulate in past. But, there are few YOUNG people who came from Safarshi. They had typical Pakistani attitude, un-respectable . Instead of being nice they have harsh attitude towards on us. PM Imran Khan have senior educated people in Consulate not kids of Safarshi, who dont have manner to speak and have huge attitude.
I left a message to get my birth certificate they called me back the lady was so helpful and she helped me set up my appointment. The next day when I went there with my documents they were so helpful and they gave me my birth certificate in 2 hours. I was amazed they are truly representing Pakistan in New York City.
I am giving this review, because consulate has failed to provide services to Pakistani citizen. No details regarding the travel during this pandemic anywhere, I request you to fix your website and be transparent about the instructions provided by foreign ministry. I will be escalating this matter to the high level management to ensure the safety of Pakistani citizens. Fix your system/ process and do your job!
Best service because I message them and explain my problem they replied to me with the solution I completed my document visited Consulate my work was done in a few minutes. I request all our community to follow the instructions which are mentioned on their website. Believe me, its easy they dont give hard time if things are completed proper according to their requirements.Thank Consul General for improving our Pakistani Consulate.
I was here for my passport renewal , The staff was very courteous and ready to help in every and any way possible. It was efficient and smooth . Took me 15 minutes to complete the process and walk out the door. I appreciate the consulate’s efforts and thank them for their service to overseas Pakistanis
Went there for my passport renewal. Was my first time. All of them were very polite and efficient.There was almost no wait time . I had all my documents with me so there was no problem.My advice is read all the instructions online , their website is very descriptive and helpful. Prepare everything and go to the embassy.They do have a copier machine too. They don’t take cash so take your debit card with you. The copier machine takes 50cents.All in all I had a very well time and my work was done with in half an hour.God Bless Pakistan and God bless Our fellow Pakistanis.
Two Words - Efficient and Courteous.Ive been taken aback by the overwhelmingly positive experience with Pak Embassy in NYC. First of all, I needed an urgent appointment to get a few documents notarized and sent an email over the weekend. Not only the staff got back to me the same day but they responded to my email on Sunday and my appointment was confirmed for the next day. The whole team at Pak Embassy needs to be congratulated and appreciated. Very Professional Staff there and I was helped right away. Great to see our embassy working so hard even during the pandemic situation.Keep up the good work
I first visited there for renewal of my passport. It took 10-15 minutes, including some waiting, photo capture and review of the form. Passport was ready for pickup in just 10 days. Took only 5-10 minutes to pickup my passport yesterdayThey never pick up the phone, never. But, they are super quick in responding emails. Staff is nice, supportive, cooperative, *tives.Off course, there are many areas of improvement, but i am happy with their core service delivery.
I went to Pakistan Consulate at New York to renew/modify my Nadra Card. I had an excellent service by Mr Aleem at the Consulate who was very kind and cooperative through out the process of submission of my application. Special thanks Mr Aleem and Pakistan Consulate. 😊
Despite the fact that they do not have technology and the facility is not very comfortable, my experience there was the best compared to ALL the embassies ( and i have been to dozens of them) of the world, except may be, Thailand.... Number of Staff is inadequate thou. .... but still the service is pretty quick and to the point.Today March 8, 2021, appointment at 11:30. Done by 11:49, with two docs signed by the consulate general. 🤩
Honestly, Im shocked to see such level of speedy response and call backs. Even on a Saturday night past 10pm, I got a response to my email within an hour. The following morning I got a call back as well regarding my query. Very pleased with their quality of service and professionalism.
Another amazing experience : March 2021I had another opportunity to contact New York embassy to attest power of attorney :They are so professional , within 30 mints I have received call back from Mr Qyani who was very kind , he listened patiently my whole situation & provided me best solution . Since I was driving 2.5 hour drive with 4 year baby so Mr Qyani accommodated me with best appointment keeping in mind my long distance and urgency of matter . Mr Qiyani and his staff are working beyond their extra hours to serve Pakistani people in most professional way even on weekends . All I can say God bless them & please keep up extraordinary services . Thanks
I have never felt the reason to review anything until my experience here. As I was planning for my passport renewal process I read the reviews of Pak Consulate NY and I was definitely anxious. Some of the reviews people have written here are really negative. With that in mind, I took a day off and drove 5hrs to get to the consulate. There were a handful of people in the waiting area. I arrived @ 9:05am and I was out by 9:40am. There were no issues, the people were very nice and I received my passport within 2 weeks, even though it was not expedited and was scheduled to arrive in 4-6weeks. If you follow the requirement instructions on the website, there is no need to worry. People who complain are usually the ones who didnt compile documents properly. I wrote this review specifically for well-organized individuals: you have nothing to worry about :)
Needed to replace a lost passport for my mother. Super fast and nice service. We received respect and everyone involved tried their best to be civil and helpful. The passport in-charge even offered his chair for my elderly mother with a smile. It was very different from when I visited the consulate 25 years ago. Please read the requirements on the web site and come prepared with everything that is needed and you will have no issues. - FAST Forward 10 days - The passport is ready for pickup..... Wow....
The customer service is not rude but a little bit organization would result in less haste and more speed. It will also make the experience more pleasurable if they can be a little more attentive at listening, be a little more polite and smile. I do have to appreciate the punctuality. A few things that should be sorted out are: dont ask for 4 photos for visa on the website if you only need two, if you need a copy of US passport for visa requirements say so on the website. They should also put on notice as whether every person in a family needs one token or one tolen for the entire family. My overall experience seems to be good so far, significantly better than what I experienced in 2008.
My experience was very positive. I got my passport in a little over a week. I had requested urgent service.Before going there, I checked the website for required documents and took their copies as instructed. I was done with application submission within an hour.Online tracker was useful to check when the passport was ready.I would suggest to check the site for required documents and take the copies. It should be fairly smooth.

Based on all the negative reviews I felt compelled to write a few words to commend the staff in the Consulate, credit should be given where it is due.I had a very positive experience, Mr.Ghulam Rubbani at the front desk was professional and helpful and greeted me with a smile. The entire process of submitting my paperwork for a POA took less than a couple of minutes and my paperwork was ready to pick up in less than an hour!I can understand why occasionally the staff may get frustrated with people... they show up with incomplete paperwork, missing documents etc.and then waste the time of the already busy officials and expect to be served!! It happened in front of me right there!!People... the instructions for all the services along with lists of required documents are right there on the website, read them and show up with complete paperwork...it not rocket science!!!

I contacted embassy via contact form from the website regarding overseas card and e-visa. I received a call back within an hour from Mr. Musharaf. He was very kind and helpful answered all of my questions and also sent out a follow up email that had the websites for doing modifications to your NICOP card. This is a great change in customer service of Pakistani Consulate in NY. I greatly appreciate the immediate assistance. Thank you! Keep doing the Great work.
As unprofessional as one could get, no etiquettes whatsoever. Made an appointment online, upon arrival was told appointment is cancelled. Next time got the appointment paid for shipping online and was told to pick up and they will not deliver. And this is the consulate of Pakistan in NY.
Excellent Service. I ordered an urgent passport. The process was very smooth. Just make sure you have all the documents when you get there to apply. The staff is so friendly and courteous. The whole process took only ten minutes when I applied. I got my passport in a week.
The staff of Pakistan Consulate were very courteous and professional upon my arrival. I will say that this was an Emergency Case of Visa Request and referred by Director of PACOLI Mr Atiq Q. His referral made a huge impact as the Consulate was closed and I arrived after hours. The staff took my passport, looked at the application saw everything was good and processed my payment through debit card.Based on the negative reviews here, I would say that the Consulate General office has made a huge improvement on its quality of service.
Embassy need alot of improvements , i felt like i am in 1970s govt office, no ethics, no cleaning you can see dirt around door locks, no notice on passport area that if you apply for passport they will not deliver you until you provide them prepaid label...does it make sense? beside that everything was good.
Very amazed by the service at this Consulate. My father (Shahid Malik) called to ask about some information but no one picked up and the voicemail was full as well. Even though he was not able to record a message he received a call within 5 minutes regarding his call. The young lady who helped on the phone was very knowledgeable and answered all of his questions. We are beyond impressed by the service.
Online visa is the Best thing I got the visa in 10 to 12 Hr. I did not even have to Drive to NY for urgent visa. It was even faster than getting urgent visa if you are in different state. I call the consulate for question and they did answer the phone and answer my question. After I got my visa I call second time no one answer I did not leave any message but 2 min later consulate called me back and said they miss my call. That is some great service. Above and beyond.
I am very much impressed with a prompt response from Consulate General. I was very much in stress for my daughter and so was she. They were kind and courteous. The consulate itself wasn’t too great, and looked like a building straight out of Pakistan, despite being in the US. The staff were friendly, but distant. It is one of the more effienct consulates I have been to.Overall, Sheikh Zia was the best officer there.
I went to get visa for my wife and kids. The last time I went to this consulate was more than 10 yrs ago and was terrible.This time it was a total different experience. Sent NICOP renewal but did not hear from them for 4 weeks. Called and really finally got through over phone to find that they did not have any record of my application. Thankfully I had USPS tracking number which I provided to them and sent an email. The email was responded back in 1 business day with receipt number for the renewal application. By the way, the web email submission form does not work. Send email to them directly.Response to my email is a 1 business with useful information is what I appreciate.
Reached there by 10 Am today. Visible marking posted to reach the room where they accept fee. the number ticket roll was to be mentioned by clerk as it was tucked in the corner.Get the mentioned papers on line (original & copy and debit card for payment) and the process is swift. got my process done with in 5 min after 10 min of waiting.I missed the mail section on website and there is no option in consulate to get one.Hope the return service be so easy and timely.
I have requested via e.mail to get an appointment for attestation some papers, I got the appointment right after i sent the request mail,It was a pleasure when i got the appointment on Jan the 12th at 2.00PM just as a safe side i arrived at the consulate about 30 min ahead,officer incharge attend me as soon as i report my arrival every things get done without any hassle,consulate services has been much improved and it shows that consulate is paying much attention for the overseas pakistanis to get on time services,I would like to thank all the staff,RegardsAbdul Rashid sheikh New York
I don’t know if this credit goes to Imran khan’s government but the process was really fast for me (I’m a USA citizen) they told me my passport would be ready the same day make sure to bring copies of all documents and bring cash and coins just Incase if you need to make copies of stuff they have a copy machine there. The whole process took me about 15 minutes I got there on 9:15 on a Monday
There is a good sight & also a not good sight.Besides this, if your documents are complete and set in an organize manner as its advised by the consulate, you are fine.I set and take all those documents which they asked for.My case was for Machine Readable Passport and I was done in hardly 1 hour.
This is honestly the worse place. I was there before 9 AM and left at 3 PM without any help. They did not know what to do? They were just making me asking one another for help. Offered me 4 different types of solutions for my problem and after offering a solution, they would say, WE CANNOT DO IT. If you cannot help me then why the hell would you offer me a solution. Seriously, the worse place. Cant wait to get my citizenship, and once I get it, I will never ever look back to this place. I love my Pakistan, but employees here are terrible. They have that old Paki attitude, and with that attitude they will never be able to rise.
One day before Eid ul Adha when embassy was closed for 4 days my father in Pakistan was admitted in hospital in ICU and I was in rush to fly but I found my NICOP was expire and I needed Pakistani visa on my USA passport. I was very desperate. I contacted visa officer Muhammad Ashraf, he is very courteous and professional who guided and helped me, how I can apply visa on line. Upon completion all process, he issued me visa on line with in few hours with out going any where. Meanwhile my father died and I was able to attend funnel. Thank you Very co-operative staff of Pakistan embassy New York USA. Allah SWT bless them all.
Not very efficient here, and the policies differ than what is posted online. Bring a debit card, extra copies of EVERYTHING, and extra 2x2 photos for your passport or nicop photo. Do not lose the receipt they give you (take a picture of it on your phone as soon as you get it). Be prepared to wait hours 🤦🏻♀️ Tip: they open the last Sunday of every month at 9am - at 8:30 the waiting area was already open for you to take a number in line.
Worst consulate in US . Specially passport office incharge . Most Ill mannered person. He likes to hold all application for passport for even a little objection which could be solved easily . He is here to serve but he act like a cheap SHO of a thana. My application to renew my passport is there for more than 2 years , every time he make new self made regulations. I wrote him asking about the delay and gave him all the papers he asked but he failed to answer . This RPO doesnt need to be on active duties . Lower staff is cooperative but this RPO is acting like a dictator.
Needs to be more organized and more English friendly- feels like walking into Karachi but they have made improvements over the years. Get here early and be ready to wait! Also thoroughly research everything online before you come to save time and bring extra copies, extra pens, extra change in quarters and lots of patience :)
Went there to get visas, showed up around 9am and had visas in hand about 3 hrs later. The people at the counter werent rude and helped me finalize my documents too (I didnt know what to fill in for some things).I was expecting the process to be a major pain in the you know what based on the reviews of this place, but once I got there it was clearly evident the people who were having trouble were the ones showing up without proper documents or the ones making excuses trying to get them to bend the rules. Just review the website (although it is a bit confusing) , bring your stuff (more is better), and it should be fairly painless.
Recently I sent document for my daughter Pakistan visa. 7th day I checked my mail and I was surprise to received Visa. I never applied for express and it was quicker then express service.Earlier I also had good experience as I applied for the passport renewal and they sent me back in sometime. Website is detailed and explain the process.
Poor customer service, poor environment. The office needs serious attention. Go fully prepared and dont assume anything. Forget help, they will try to ensure that your work doesnt get done. I am personally willing to buy them a photocopier. If any authority reads, please contact.
Its my second time visiting the consulate . Front counter desk officials are efficient and fast , they work hard and are professional. They try facilitate where they can. People give then tantrums and theybtry kwep their nerves and tempers ..guys ! I had to get my MRP passport renewed. After the reading the reviews I was worried but the process was rather easy and quick. I drove to the embassy at 11 in the morning from taking the token to submitting my document it only took 20 mins (I had all documents ready with photocopies and money order). I received my passport with in 15 days even when it was not urgent.
Had a wonderful experience. They have all the instructions on the website so all people need to do is read up before going what is needed and there won’t be any issues. There were no surprises and all papers were in order for the reason that they have everything on their website of what is needed. Process was very smooth and very friendly and helpful staff. I went to get my mrp on 1/31. I arrived well before opening time of nine. The staff was courteous. They first ask you to take a token, then call and check to make sure you have everything. Make sure you have all the required copies, as they dont have a Xerox machine. Check the LA Website. The New York one has a virus. They do take debit incase you dont have a money order.I quickly had my fingerprints and photo taken. I was out by 9:20! They told me two weeks (I needed urgent passport).They gave me a tracking number and I left a self addressed express mail envelope.I was able to check the status of my passport online. I received my passport on 2/14.Two weeks, just as promised.Now Im free to travel.The only gripe, you have to go there every five years for a new passport. I hope they will change this rule.
The worst inexperience staff the worst service, please replace the entire staff they come and go when they feel like it there timing are wrong please stop wasting pakistan taxpayer money. Alhumdulilah I live in america . Please remove the number /token machine if you dont believe in the system first come first serve.
With my impending departure to Pakistan rapidly approaching, my on-line visa application remained a flux. I was beyond frustrated, so much so that the only option I felt that would remedy my predicament was to go to the CGoP myself. Upon arrival I was connected with a Mr. Musharraf. The staff is rude (especially receptionist lady and payment clerks). They dont attend calls. Consulate is open in a pathetic building. The good news is that they are not very loaded with work and if you are visiting for passport renewal, you might get free with whole process within 30-40 min.
I wish I never in our life have to deal with Pakistan Consulate again. I had really a bad experience dealing with them for visa purposes. Absolutely no customer service - Very rude - Make you feel like that they are very busy as everyone in the world is trying to go to Pakistan..
This embassy is an embarrassment. Its basically the extension of Pakistans incompetent government. Please do better. Answer phone calls and emails.Find friendlier people to hire. Its easier to get things done at the DMV than it is to get even a foot in the door here.
I called to inquire regarding the Visit VISA for my wife , she is US Citizen. I had to call a few times, a nice lady answered the phone, she answered all my questions professionally. Well am really dissapoint from your department I submit my renewal passport application and they send me a mail that ur fingerprints are not matchable strange I provide everything thay want so I submit again and they send the same thing at that time I was really shocked like how is it possible well bad is a small word its worst experience through online...
The people there are really rude. Typical Pakistani behavior, they feel like their superior because they have a desk like come on i know your job is crappy but why do you have to take it out on the public. Dont get fooled by the fake positive reviews. If its got to do something with Pakistan, you can only imagine the service and attitude you can expect here.The employees here need to be replaced, trained on customer service and must stop lying. All of them finger point at each other and tell you to go there or here or do this and that.Went to go in and get a visa, came super prepared. Was told at 10am that itll be ready by 4 pm. The Pakistani emabassies in both pakistan and America do not answer their phone. Their mail box is full. They do not reply to emails. They do not notify applicants of any problem by phone call or email. They loose documents. They are illmannered. They are uneducated in the travel documents department. They do not have integrity in their work. They do not work in a timely manner. Useless.

They get your stuff done, but there is no professionalism, and the offices are very unorganized and dingy. Staff is okay, and acts like they are in Pakistan, and run the consulate the same way. Overall, they are okay, get your work done, but aesthetics wise- they fail completely. They are also horrible at answering their phones, or responding back to emails.
I went there to renew my wifes passport . As you know machine readables are only avaialable from here or LA. Flew in from GA a night before with departure flight leaving day of visit. Arrived at 830 they opened up the gates at 845 , took token , waited to be called .Ist step was : showing documents to first officer who , took money order , made sure docs were in order. Went smooth. I could sense some legitimate frustration when he was dealing with others because some were without docs , asking for weired favors, requesting to be seen by senior officer. This all took up his time and mine as well.Then we were taken to a second room greeted by another gentlman who made sure that we were called by our serial numbers on the receipt (so it was in order first come first serve). Because of lack of personel that day he took info first of 7 applicants , then took our phots and final demographic check. Very courteous.I was done by 945. Then went down in out side accesable basement to get my NICOP card (so i can vote for PTI) application submitted. Took two minutes .If all documents are inorder its in and out, go in early , have a smile on your face and remember that they are human as well.No cheap hotels near by. It was sad to see the dingy counsalate but under our economic crisis and current leadership at least we have one. Also make sure if you go in winters wear jackets inside as the heating is not working.Also want to add that they no longer have money order making capability , nor there was a copier ( i may have missed it) . They certainly dont take passport pics. so be prepared in advance. Also call ahead just to make sure they are not closed for a pakistani holiday.

Take the original n copies as well to save time.i took all the originals, copies n some other supporting documents as well in case they ask me.So I submitted my application 9:05am n got passport back by 11:00esh.I had really good experience.
Disgusting people work here no type of respect or anything very unprofessional you can call them million times & they never pick up the phone waiting for the visa for a whole month and still no answer they are definitely not helpful instead they want to just get rid of you
The main consultant afzal who has to submit the application take pictures and all was so rude ...he doesnt know how to deal with an applicant .... he need some manners how to speak with other otherwise he dont need to work here we are paying for services that we getting done here, we are not getting for free.
Normally dont leave reviews, but felt compelled to for this.Tried to get information about Visa (foreigner living in US, not PR).I have called both general reception and the visa departments at this consulate no less than 6 times a day for well over a week. No answering machine, never a answered call. Emails are not returned either.Extremely frustrating
Definitely can be improved to make it easier for those traveling from outside NY city to get their required visas within a timely manner. They should have a copy machine on premises, it is ridiculous that this building is one of NYCs most posh neighborhoods but they dont want to spend money on a copy machine for customers who are coming from all over the Tri-State area mainly New Jersey after NY. Parking is already expensive but add to that many return trips because you need a copy of this or some other demand they make. PLEASE improve the customer service and open longer than 4 hours a day, at least till 5 pm so people can come after work. This is one place you will be lucky to get everything done in one trip.

By the way for people who want to renew your NICOP; the best and fastest service you would ever get is back home in Pakistan. You can get your NICOP renewed there in just 11 business days. And they can give you the NICOP for 15 to 20 years of expiry date. Thats the best thing specially if you are clean shaved and bald person.
Echoing all the bad reviews, nobody answers the phone, have sent emails as well. It is a pathetic representation of Pakistani government in America. I am also very sure that all the good reviews are fake as someone pointed out. Really bad situation, consular general should be fired!

I applied my 3rd Machine readable passport (last two were issued in Sialkot Pakistan) . Passport officer told they will verify my pakistani address and after that they will issue me Passport. according to him it will take upto 3 month. is anybody know that is that? why they doing it? can they not verify online?your comments will be appreciatedthanks

The office inside is dirty and filthy . Public rest room is never cleaned . One block away there is Indian consulate . You feel that you have entered in a professional place . Nice and clean and quite . Pictures of India all over the place .NICOP office is located in the most filthy and unhealthy place. Looks like as if a store room in the basement of the consulate.The attitude of people working especially in the passport window is horrible ,exactly like their restroom. Seems like Gullu butt attitude. The consul Gen is also a Butt.
We visited for visa purpose things i would like to highlight few things,1. Old and messy building2. Staff behaves unethically to their own pakistani brothers who travels from far far like RI, MA etc but they don’t even try to solve their problem in one visit.3. Copying machine should be free or atleast card system should be enabled currently on coins and cash only. Where does all the money goes from overseas remittances???? Copying should be free4. Typical pakistanis, jealous and bastardly. for a municipal issue one of their people got into an argument with me and started cursing at me. Then he turned around and told his colleagues in front of me to delay my work.Which they did and i ended up stranded for 1 week. no body wears a badge, no complaints can be lodged against them .They intentionally give vague directions for services they dont provide IE photo copy and other essentials.this guy named Zahid told me that he didnt care if i cam from California, he was just not going to do it for me. And i happen to have all of it on video.
Nadra issued me 2 ID cards without my knowledge and my passport is stuck now as I applied for a renewal. Nadras office in the Consulate wont respond to emails or answer calls. Operator doesnt know who else to connect me to or how to help. I have been trying to reach the consulate for past 1 week now. I have called at least 2-3 times each day. The voice mail seems to be full. I guess they dont care to take calls or listen to voice mail. I wonder how can you get help while there when cant get any help over the phone.
I try to get some info abut renew my wife passport . They told me I have to contact at Huston consulate . Since two month I try to contact with them .no one pick up the phone in Huston .thank to god I am us citizen.Every thing is so worst for overseas Pakistani if you compare with Indians.
There are some very illiterate people sitting there with alot of bad attitude. Two chicks sitting at the desk think they can talk how ever they want to talk to people. Probably miserable in their own life so they take out on public. When you ask for the director who happens to be another Lazey piece of s**t he wont even talk to you. Alreast on my experience he pretended that I didnt even. Exist and only answered to the two morons at the desk. So my question to paki govt. Is why do you hire these people who have no clue of what public service is?? Its a f***ing joke these people they think with that probably minimum wage job they have conquered the world and can talk to people with their cheat attitude. Worst embassy and horrible consulate around the world.very unprofessional and very unfriendly staff.i had to visit them 3 times just to renew my machine readable passport which took me 3 hours each time i visited thats 10 hours plus the time i spent in there arguing with the rude officer incharge. they just like to give the pakistani people hard time over nothing and the staff they have is from pakistan very uncourteous and the officer in charge is very rude and uneducated.

People who gave 5 stars are lucky. I went to embassy, they always give a hard time with documentations. I wanted to get NICP for myself and 2 kids. But according to them. They can NOT process my kids NICP cause they have to process mine first. Which will take forever. I submitted in October and till now Feb. 2015, all I see online...it is rejected due insufficient documentations. (missing my parents NICP copy) Dont know if I will ever get NICP or if I can ever apply for my kids.
This consulate needs to change pick time to 9am to 5pm. I wounder whose idea was to was to make pick up times 3pm to 4pm People need to take day off just to Visit this place. people working in front desk are very rude they need behavior therapy on how to interact with the people.

The worst customer service.People sitting at the window are the MOST HELPLESS people. They DO NOT HAVE all the information handy and if you are there to get something attested, they would just assume that it can’t be done... rather than go inside and ask some one else. WASTE OF TIME...!!
Worst Service in the world.. I have applied for Pakistani Passport even though I am US Citizen.. I just wanted to keeep my dual citizenship and visit India.. This office has worst service ever period.. They never picked up phone, no tracking of my passport, intelligence bureau was asking my degrees, all old passports and irrelevant documents.. Now they dont know where is my passport.. My sister applied NICOP and in-person she visited this office, they never informed that NICOP is only online now.. We made money order and sent to office and they sent all documents back to her home stating apply online. They sent back money order but it is hard re-cash it because it has Consulate of Pakistan stamp.. This office is most rude people on counter and never respond politely, specially a girl and guy on counter.. I would not recommend to go this office.. They will never inform you right directions according to procedures in Pakistan.. If I want to hate after Pharaoh, Qaroon, Namrood and other political parties in Pakistan, the next will be Consulate of Pakistan New York Office.. Dont waste your time here.. Red tapism is more often here and lack of knowledge..

2022-05-23Today i went to get Power of Attorney Papers Notarized . It was a pleasant surprise to see the staff working in very efficient and polite way. Especially Mr. Shakir , Mr Zahid and the lady at the front counter. I salute them for being so nice to every one and handling some of the not so friendly customers , in a professional way. I salute all of these people !! Keep it UP !!

2022-03-16People working in New York consulate are rude ,bad attitude and corrupt. If you need help with Nadra or anything they will tell you to call Pakistan office and when you call Pakistan they’ll tell you to go online. Believe me they’re not there to help you, they’re there because they want to make money out of you at any cost. They have no morals and no self respect.

2022-02-23I had to go to Pakistan in emergency.. when I went there they were closed to public only open for appointments.. the guy working there gave me the email and phone number and within 5 hours he gave me e visa.. I really want to thank you guys for your service .. thanks to you I was able to meet my grandfather before his death.

2022-01-18The worst embassy to deal with. No one answers the phone, on the rare occasion they do, they have no sensible answer. Even their website is down and their email doesnt work. We applied for a passport back in August, it is now January and we have no update. No one responds to emails or returns voicemails. We paid the expedited fee to get the passport urgently and now its 5 months later and we are stuck, unable to make any international plans. They have been a nightmare to deal with.
