My wife finally gets an appointment after trying for a long time and having her first appointment rescheduled only for it to happen again after I bought her tickets to NYC and she was there. That is unacceptable, and we are owed compensation for that. If you cannot honor an appointment twice, then youre pathetic, dishonest, and flat out bad. I hope this is the last time she has to deal with this pathetic place
I have been trying to schedule an appointment for notarization but there are no slots available even when I checked on “Sunday and Wednesday at 9 pm “ the so called days when open slots are released. This is very disappointing. I have been trying to schedule for 2 weeks.
Although its a game of luck when trying to reserve an appointment through their website. Once you have a slot, the dual citizenship process becomes fairly easy. The office staff were accommodating, even before my appointment they were able to answer my questions via email - which is the best way to get in touch with someone.
I applied for a Visa to visit family. On January 3, 2022 the Consulate General of the Philippines received my documents. On 1/23/2022 I contacted them for a Visa update request. To make a long story short the Consulate General of the Philippines lost my passport and my marriage certificate. I have emailed Consulate General of the Philippines several time asking them if they have found my passport and marriage certificate. The Consulate General of the Philippines has not replied to any of my emails. The Consulate General of the Philippines is simply ignoring me.
They wont let me pick up my renew passport! And it end up lost. I contact them and no one is answering the phone! I had to go back in the philippine consulate again to ask about the documents, because it says delivered but it did not arrived. I explain them about that and they said i have to contact the usps and let them know what can they do about it! LOL!
I had my appointment earlier today for the renewal of my passport (2pm, 01/24/2022) I appreciate the employees who accommodated me and the others with respect EXCEPT for this lady at window 3 who was pretty rude. She had glasses and lazy eyes(no disrespect just describing). She told me to re-write my middle name on a different blank and I happened to write it on the wrong one and I felt insulted by the way she responded, saying “ano ba nangyayari sayo? Diba sinabi ko dito mo ilagay” in translation: “what’s wrong with you? Didn’t I tell you to write it here?” If that wasn’t rude enough, I asked her nicely if I could borrow a pen she did let me borrow it but instead of handing it to me she dropped the pen in Front of me rudely!!
Very smooth and efficient processing of my entire citizenship process (from application, submission, processing, completion, oath taking and eventual issuance of Philippine passport). The entire process was well organized and provided by very courteous and accomodating kababayan staff.
Been cheking a time slot for Philippine passport renewal appointment website always says..no timeslot loaded..we are busy making a living to meet ends in this country and hoping to get an appointment but seems so hard i tried calling but i cant even reach to somebody..just answering machine..i cant just keep be in my phone..
I just hope the services will get better not worse.!. Filed & Registered a Report of Marriage 2019 until now 2022 we didnt receive anything then my passport expired in 2022 and I have to get a new one but couldnt use my married name as I dont have the Report of Marriage Documents with me! Window teller told me to email them ! Yes I did several times! No definite and exact timeline given except for the untraceable tracking number! Some employees are nice but there are rude and unaccommodating! The website for passport renewal crashes most of the time! If you are planning to renew or get a passport , do the online appointment on Wednesday Night 9pm US time or better Sunday 9pm US time! Some other days you cant get an appointment! Bring all the photocopy of your documents otherwise you will get caught with paying it in their own photo copy machine . Plus bring with you a USPS Priority mail envelope, these are free from USPS except from stamps!
Out of 5 I would give them 3 star it just because no one answer the phone!!! when you need help and talk to someone! They should hire one person just to answer the phone calls all day! Is that simple!. But then I really appreciate the guy who was working at the counter and have been patience helping me to update my passport. Now I finally got my passport! But then we have some questions and to talk to them!. Or anyone here can answer, me and my partner wants to go vacation this Dec. But were wondering if my partner need a visa to enter philippine, within less 30 days, were not sure if he need a visa because of covid 19 if someone can tell me I would really appreciate it!.
I went there for voting registration and the guy who assisted me was super nice. The process was so smooth and fast. That guy deserves a raise and we need more people like him in our embassy. - 5 starsWhat needs to improve though is their website as it is outdated. For example, it still says that you need an appointment but in reality you could just do a walk in. Also, when you try to use their appointment tool, it always says that there are no slots available. I needed to email them to find out what to do. Forget also calling them because they wouldn’t answer. - 1 star
My appointment was on April 26, 2021. And after 8 weeks, my passport is still processing. It says on the paper(claim stub) that it’ll take take 4-6 weeks. Still waiting. Other than that, some of the employees were nice and accomadating. But most of them, they were kinda rude.
No one answers call to follow up status of passport. Email reply took several days and only replied vague - without providing you proper answer to query. I live 6 hours away and considering driving down just to follow up my passport (renewed more than 3 months ago) in person.
Some (not all) of the staff are rude and not welcoming. Considering this building somewhat represents the Philippines, one would think it would serve as some kind of slice of home or a refuge of some kind for Filipinos in New York. That isn’t the case, unfortunately. Right at the entrance where you get asked the purpose of your visit, the staff member there was a bit unnecessarily stern if not rude. One would think it would get better once you get downstairs for your appointment, but it didn’t. I was processing for a passport renewal, and everyone manning the stations I went to save for the cashier were all rude. Our country is known for being hospitable and friendly, but it seems like it’s just for show when you can’t even treat your own fellow Filipino that way.On another note, just wanted to suggest that when sending out reminders for appointments, to please include specific instructions for said appointments; like only pay in cash.
The Consulate personnel were very courteous, kind, and helpful. I went there to renew my passport and have some bank documents notarized. I was lacking some papers and additional requirements. The gentleman who handled me went above and beyond in extending help for me to accomplish what I needed to do. The lady in encoding was also very patient with me and was very accommodating. Thank you for providing an excellent service. Plus points to the lady at the cashier station and the kuya at the front desk who managed to smile and greet everyone and took time to explain the procedures. Maraming salat po at Mabuhay po kayo!
This time it was a nice experienced … I felt the Filipino warm welcome and very accommodating… my only setback is the envelope with usps tracking number which should be good but they demand a priority/flat rate envelope instead and it was not clear on the website what kind of return mail needed so please fix that on the website. I know that my envelope can be track thats why it has a tracking number attached to it but they still argue that it should be priority or it will not get track! I work in usps and i know my envelope will get track but i just followed what they want just to avoid further discussion that i definitely will not win. 🤦♂️ i could have give you a 5stars if not for this! And advise for all applicants READ all the requirements especially photocopies they need or you’ll get rob for photocopy charges 🤣🤣🤣
First of all I would like to appreciate people from the Consulate who are serious enough, accommodating and act professionally to those who need it. Kudos to them! But please, for some of you who are working here with kind of rude personality and feels like a boss which is a typical toxic Filipino attitude, if you dont like your job there then might as well resign now! Learn to respect your fellow Filipinos and not act as if we owe you big time for your rendered service.
I’ve trying for 4 days to talk to someone person to personal but no one answered any of the extensions.I went to their website to schedule an appointment several times in 4 days I’m logging in but everytime the website get on the calendar it just keep saying loading and then even me selecting the dates it automatically said “Booked”.“Sorry, no available date available “.Horrible. They have the worst website and services.Yes, before pandemic it was good.
We came to visit the consulate on October 14,2021 to have our dual citizenship taken cared of. Every staff is very nice and very accommodating to every individual’s need. We felt like we were home with the experience and professionalism that they have showed us. But disappointed after the oath taking. Vice Consul Tanya Ramiro walked in Kalayaan Hall and the friendly atmosphere of our kababayan staff suddenly changed and the tension was felt across the room. We sang the Philippine National Anthem and to our surprise we remembered every word of it and with tears in our eyes, we are proud to be a Filipinos. We recited the Pledge of Allegiance. Vice Consul congratulated us without sincerity and no expression on her face at all. She handed the folder as if she was going to throw it on her staff. She was in a hurry to leave the room and acted like she didn’t wanna be there. We felt the “Panunumpa sa Watawat as we recited it but the way she delivered it, was not heartfelt. And the way she conducted herself is so uptight to the point that she came across as a person with an exaggerated respect for high social position, feeling superior to those of other people (“her kababayans”)
Best experience I’ve had going to the Consulate for anything. I went in June 2021. I got an appointment about 1 month prior. A text came the day before the appointment to remind me. Another text came in around 30mins prior to my appointment. I came earlier because of previous experiences but that was not necessary. The guard constantly checks the line. They’ll ask you to do a COVID screening on your phone before entering the building. I was in at 9:00am exactly and I was finished with renewing my passport in 35minutes. My delay was on my part because I didn’t make photocopies of my documents before hand.I’m not sure if my experience is different because it was earlier in the day but I hope they keep this appointment system going because it really takes the stress out of going to the consulate and the employees seem to be happier as well.Reminders:1. Bring cash for your payment. There’s no credit card option.2. Don’t come earlier than 10mins prior to your appointment. You’re wasting your time. I could’ve saved $20 in parking if I just followed that.3. Prepare all the forms and documents including copies before hand to expedite things.
Its always fun lining up, getting inside the Consulate. Its the chance to meet other Philippine people by there; I think everyone in there work their very best whatever youre thinking about them. Mind you, its probably the only Consulate building located right on 5th Avenue in Manhattan.
Appointment for Passport renewalgreat website....nice lay out, fast, organized interface...happy for people who were able to get an appointment. There seems to be no open slots in DC and NYC after 30 days?In fact there is no choice offered on the web page..it just shows no slots available. This is a testament to the Philippine governments efficiency, organization, and compassion in facilitating their citizens timely processing of travel documents. I am confident the consular staff and ambassador is doing everything they can to facilitate this process as evidenced by the fact that they dont really answer the phones and keep on directing you to the website w/o any open slots.Good to know that things remain consistent the.. pinoy way!
I write this in the most well-meaning way, and without malice whatsoever, and only with the endeavor to help this embassy improve. I really do wish those who work here consider the fact that not all Filipinos speak Tagalog or were born in the Philippines. I am a Bisaya speaker and migrated to the US when I was eight years old (I am 24 now) so I only spoke English and Bisaya growing up. They never took into account that I would not understand them, and despite all my replies to them being in English they didnt get the hint. Also, greeting people a good morning or a good afternoon would be nice. The man at the front door did not welcome me in a positive manner and he gave me a nasty attitude. The communication skills are also poor among the staff which is a serious aspect that needs to improve asap. The service to me was fine but this is an embassy. I expect the workers to be extraordinary in their people skills. It is embarassing that such carelessness towards courtesy and competence are abundant in this embassy. Definitely lots of room for improvement.
I would like to give 10 stars for the amazing service and very friendly and nice emoloyees! Thank you so much po for your quick response and help. My husband has an Appointment on March 8, Monday, 2 days from now. Suddenly, I got confused with the documents that we have. I just want to make sure everything is ok before my husband will go to the Consulate to avoid inconveniences.I called the Philippine Consulate NYC telepohone number provided on their website. It was so amazing that they also have contact number that we could reach out in case of emergency after hours and holidays. Today is Saturday so I texted them and asked what I want to know. My surprised!!!! Somebody replied right away. Messaging back and forth then this very nice lady called me to make the conversation much easier. I asked for her name to be included on my review but she doesnt want to mention. Now me and my husband were relieved and ready for Monday. To all the employees of Philippine Consulate NYC, especially kay Maam over the phone na napakabait and friendly and sa Collegues niya sa Legalization/Notary Dept, thank you so much po - greatly appreaciated.Mabuhay po tayong lahat!
My passport renewal was a breeze. I finished everything in 30 minutes. They have the list of those who secured online appointments. So I suggest come around 15 minutes earlier. Those who came way earlier have to wait outside and not in the line. I came 10 minutes earlier and I was taken in line and went inside right away.
If I could rate this agency negative stars I would. No one answers the phone when you try to reach out for help/clarification on requirements. I have called multiple times, at different times during office hours, without any response. If you ask for more information via email to clarify information on the website, they just repeat whatever is on the website, which is unhelpful. After another email to ask for a clarification I never got a response back. It might have just been overlooked, I am assume with covid they must get numerous emails, but even after repeated emails and waiting for days, I never got a response. Its a huge waste of time trying to get anything done through this agency, you get nothing at the end of all your efforts.
I went for my dual citizenship interview. The process online was easy. Then received an email after a few weeks for my interview. My son was also a part of the process but because of covid, minors are not mandatory to be present. Upon arrival, i checked in, they gave me a form regarding my address, any symptoms and they took my temperature. I give them an A+ with enforcing social distance, temperature check and hand sanitizers. Once inside process was easy, signature & thumb prints and pay at a separate location. My appointment time was between 9-10am. I completed everything less then 45mins. And i had to go back at 11:30am to get sworn in. Easy and quick process. There were about 12 of us today who got sworn in. All the staff were friendly and helpful.
Was a wonderful performance presented by Philippine Island groups. The event was called Tertulia - a festive occasion. The dancers wore traditional Phillipine Island dress and were accompanied by traditional music. The performance also included Motzart music. After the presentation they provided excellent cuisine.
Service was fast and systematic. I am quite surprise myself that they have a better system in this consulate, glad that we are doing better in some ways. I came to the embassy to make an adjustment of status(report of marriage) and renewal of my Philippine passport. I arrived in the embassy before office hours(9am) and to my amazement there was already a friendly personnel inside the building, who took my name and put me in queue. He then told me I could come back by 9am and roam around the city while waiting. It was just a few minutes after 9am that my name was called, the 1st person that I spoke (for reported of marriage) gave me a great advice, saved me precious time of driving back to New York( 10 hours from where I live and that is just one way).He told me to indicate during my passport renewal application that I wanted the old passport cancelled, if I do the new passport will be mailed to my home address. A time saver indeed. All in all by in less than 2 hours I finished 2 application. For some this might not be fast enough, but it was good enough for me.Keep up the good service and great work!
The clerk who handles ROB or Report of Birth sucks and very disappointing! Very disorganized, super slow and incompetent! No, they dont prioritized anyone even if it stated from their website and office bulletin. I had a terrible experienced! I feel sorry for my 9 month old son who waited for a while in a hot basement office without a changing table bathroom! I recommend to send it by mail like what I did for my ROM and I have not encountered any prob. The guards/front desk who gave numbers also sucks! The numbers and instructions are incorrect! They arent approachable! They arent helpful! Very disappointing!5 stars***** to Passport clerksQuick and no hassle! Keep it up! Thank you for your excellent service!
Phone service is useless. No one picks up. Passport renewal 6 months ago and it still says processing when I checked online tracking. I dont know whats going on but I have done passport renewal here twice before. Never did it take this long. Fortunately Im dual citizen but I need my Philippine passport for other processing requirements needed by services in the Philippines. Horrible service. Sure anyone can be nice and cordial but customers expect results. Especially when its being paid. 0 stars if it allowed me.
I wish i could put a negative star on this. I renewed my passport and they couldnt find the envelope because of a different last name. I told them i tried to change my name but they wouldnt let me but I already prepaid the envelope. After that was sorted, they still wouldnt release my renew passport because they said I didnt cancel my old passport. I said I did. They said send us a picture through our mobile phone. I was like youre not serious. Yes we are because you didnt cancel your passport. I said I did! I sent them a picture of my passport with holes on it. Get your act together. Youre supposed to be there to make it convenient for Filipinos in the northeast but instead you make it harder for us!
After reading all the negative reviews, I came in prepared to face the worst. BUT I like to say we had a good experience, soooo much better than our experience in renewing our passports in Manila. Most of the ladies were respectful, pleasant and helpful (there was just 1 who did not seem to be happy to be there), the security in front was also helpful and courteous. We were done in 40 minutes and that already includes voters ID application - the lady in that window --- very nice.Just come prepared with forms filled out and necessary documents copied AND bring cash - $60 per passport for renewal.
I really had a good experience and was provided an efficient service here today, despite the negative things I read about the embassy. Heres my story:I arrived in the embassy at around 8:45am today. It was already open but they wont start transactions til 9am. The receptionist was so friendly and gave me a priority number for my SPA documents that needed to be notarized. I was 7th in line for the Legal Documents and Notarizations transactions (Ticket No. L007)At around 9am, he told all of us waiting in the lobby to go to the basement as they started accepting transactions. I only waited for 10 minutes and my number was called. It only took 5 minutes for me to be accommodated by one of the window attendants, then went straight to the cashier which only took me a minute or two, and I was done! I have 3 copies of my SPA and theyre keeping 1 of the copies. So I only paid for 2 which cost me $50 ($25 each document). They said I could claim my documents by 4pm today. However, I opted to have the documents delivered to me in Albany, NY since I had to catch a train at noon. So they advised me to go to the post office (USPS) at the 43rd Street (2-3 blocks away) and get a mailing envelope (same size as my documents) with a stamp. The only problem was the post office was going to open late because of the flooding incident inside their office (according to the notice they posted on the door.) And so I went to the other post office on 580 47th Street Suite 407 and there were only 2 customers there including me! The setup was weird because its on the 4th floor of the 580 building and its inside an office room but I was glad the transaction was fast. So I got an envelope, paid for the stamp, walked back to the embassy (2 blocks away), went back to the cashier and dropped the envelope. Then I was good to go! Everything went really smooth and the staff were all polite and accommodating. :)I highly suggest that if you cannot claim your documents, you can ask someone to do it for you. Or if you want it shipped back to you, buy a mailing envelope with stamp before you go to the embassy so you dont have to go out and in again. Standard stamp cost me only $7.35.
I would give them a 5, but their customer service on the phone is down right terrible and rude. I drove 5 hour from Fort Drum, NY, and face to face was a different attitude. The host/security was very nice, courteous, and respectful to everyone that walk through the door. Our passport renewal was a quick processing and I noticed a supervisor walking around making sure everyone was taking care of. My wife applied for a passport renewal 15 Jan 16....and we received it within 24 days. In conclusion great customer service face to face, but terrible phone assistance: I want to say maybe its a language barrier, but personally I dont think its the case. No matter what the issue is on the phone they will refer you to the website and hang up on you....
I wanted to share my experience since the majority of the reviews were NOT good. I came here to register my marriage and the birth of my son after becoming dual citizens. The lady at Window 4 was EXTREMELY helpful! I did not have my husbands passport, which apparently I needed. She explained everything I need for the process. She even corrected some of my errors, as well as told me the number of copies I need. Great experience even though I did not get to accomplish what I came to do.
Im sure everyone has their own experiences with regards to their visit. I went just a minute ago to renew my passport and I am extremely satisfied with the service not to mention the speedy filing process. It literally took me 15 mins total to get it done. The receptionist and the man facilitating the lobby helped me out with some of my questions. He gave me a slip and went to the basement for processing. Just a tip for everyone renewing their passport, have your photocopies of your passport, permanent residency (if applicable) and your filled out passport renewal form ready.
Its effective for an embassy but hardly efficient. The staff is generally polite and helpful. I give it a 3 because of the location (heart of the city) and the fact that they get stuff done. However, its processes are rather outdated. Cash only for an international infrastructure in midtown Manhattan is just wrong. Need a couple more photocopy machines in house too, and one that people can operate with credit cards and/or online accounts. They only have one and it takes 25 cents for each page you copy (like an arcade game). A lot of the older folks are confused and dont know what to do with so I end up spending part of my time helping them figure it out, which I dont mind doing. Im just confused why there hasnt been change since, and people are crammed in the basement because there isnt enough space & chairs. Meanwhile upstairs theres plenty of space for people to hang out in and catch a glimpse of the décor. Why not downstairs too where actual work and processing happens? Its 2019 so Im really hoping they get with the times and start automating more... :) Mabuhay!
Lobby is clean. Staff is courteous and friendly. The lobby is well lit. The building is easily identified from the outside. Ample seating in the waiting room if you need to wait. Location is close to Rockefeller center and Saint Patrick’s church. Dasal muna if you want.
I went to the embassy a little after 9 am today to have 3 different documents notarized. They charged $25 for each document!!! I think that is way too much for services that is inefficient. I was asked to come back late afternoon (4pm) to pick up the notarized documents. Why would it take the whole day? When I came back, one had my name misspelled so they have to redo it. It was done in a few minutes! So, why the whole day? I feel sorry for other people who come from far away places.Another thing, they do not accept credit cards?!!! At this day and age, who does not accept credit cards? The cashier pointed me to Bank of America which is next door. I asked where the nearest Chase Bank is. She doesnt know. It turned out it was only 2 blocks down along 5th Ave (thanks to my smart phone but not all Filipinos are tech savvy). She does not know? She should know and be able to direct consumers to nearby banks, thats the least she can do for the inconvenience people have to undergo. When I was in the office I did not show any disrespect. In fairness, the gentleman who accepted my application and the lady who attended to me in the afternoon (who was very apologetic for the mistake) were nice.
Inasmuch as I’d like to promote good vibes with my people here in the Northeast, it’s just too hard to come by when people straight from the consulate are plain rude, lazy, and lack (a lot of) commonsense.Don’t get me wrong, I love my country, but I’ve been hassled (and harassed) too many times on three separate occasions (face-to-face and through mail and phone conversations) by the people of the consulate, especially the legal section. I’ve followed instructions for filing both a Report of Marriage (ROM) and a Report of Birth (ROB) to a T — all forms duly accomplished with copies all notarized alongside their filing fees in cash, as written specifically on their website. And yet, somebody from the legal section calls both my phone and husband’s phone, and stupidly tells me not to ever pay in cash; and questions my last name, my son’s last name, and our address when they could see with their own two eyes the information already plastered on my original marriage certificate and son’s birth certificate. In the end, they asked me to redo my ROM and ROB (because of all the erasures they did on my original submissions), which I complied with accordingly. I just hope they didn’t lose any of the documents they should be mailing back to me soon. Please just do your jobs right. Pretty please. There really isn’t anything difficult with editing a few items, looking info up, and/or photocopying documents. It’s sort of implied that they clearly want me to do their job.I do have a lot of patience but when I talk to people who sound as if they’re accusing me of their own incompetence, I get really pissed.Seriously, I can only hope never to deal with some of the people in the Consulate in New York ever again (the Consulate in San Francisco was so much easier to deal with).I also can’t believe I wasted time even talking about these people. But I needed an outlet.
Me & my 84 year old mother travelled from Vermont to New York to get Travel Document for my mom since her passport got expired. The older guy ( Chinese looking semi bald head) was the one who attended us . Though we have all the necessary documents on his hands, he was still asking us & seemed yelling at us all the time. My mother was feeling nervous every time this man opens his mouth as if we are deaf . Before we showed up in the Consulate , I inquired all the info from the staff who answered the phone & assured us that we can have the Travel Document at 4 pm same day . Anyway, the particular staff ( I described above) was so rude & kept yelling though our documents were perfectly filled up & we got everything prepared . Then he told us that we have to pick it up the next day. I insisted that we cant because we have to get back to Vermont due to my moms dialysis . Still rude to us, he said he cant do anything . Then I told him I will hold him responsible if something happens to my 84 year old mom whos life only depends on dialysis . This man is insensitive, crude , rude & evil , didnt really care . I never back out as I kept appealing to him & there is this refined young woman , one of the staffs, took over him & went thru our documents & said back to this rude man that release it . I was so relieved & minutes later the Travel Documents of my mom was released & we were able to catch the greyhound bus & soon as we arrived Vermont, my mom was rush to the ER & then got her dialysis right then. I was so thankful to this refined young woman who intervened. Her name is Christina . upon reading the document, she was the one who signed it as the Assistant yo the Consulate. No wonder this semi bald headed Chinese looking Filipino working at this consulate is still working as a clerk not Consulate or Assistant to the Consulate . Do these people who are rude, inefficient staffs in this office realized that we are the ones paying them to serve us ? They are public servants not the boss, even the boss had no right to be rude or delaying peoples time, unprofessionally dealings , they are paid to serve us . If they cant change their attitude , they shouldnt work there . I hope that all these negative reviews will wake them up & will urge President Duterte to remove these kind of people . They dont deserve that position. I will give 5 stars to Miss Christina for her intervention .
We raced from NJ to get there before 12. The people down stairs called our number quickly and could not have been more kind and helpful. We met the consular who was incredibly positive and respectful. There was a few hours to kill so we went across the street to Barnes N Noble. The consular greeted us again as she sat down to eat her lunch. She is all smiles and absolutely delightful. She even offered me some of her lunch! Could not have been a more positive experience. This is why Filipino Americans have such a good reputation.
Came to the NY Embassy today and was very frustrated, the person who did the interview has Very poor customer service skills. She disappeared in the kiosk and left the people waiting. It seems that there is no one to ask for help. I took off from work and brought my 78 year old mother for passport renewal or possible extension, took a bus coming here, it seemed that she doesnt want to hear your concerns. No empathy. She told us to make 2 copies of the old passport and when we went t to the window for processing, the other lady took only one copy. Their system sucks!
Rude, condescending personnel. The people that work here apparently feel like they are celebrities in the Philippines and like to talk down to you.Passport office was open until 4:00 pm. I entered at 4:03 pm, asked nicely, smilingly, even pleadingly if he can let me in. I knew there was a good chance he would not, but there should be no harm in trying shouldnt there? He said something to the effect that his masters/owners will beat him if he did. Shocked, I asked if he was serious, then another person, who looked kind of familiar, like he was a gay comedian personality in the Philippines (without any uniform or ID even) shouted to me in a downward irritated condescending manner to why dont YOU check the website!?! to be heard by everyone in the lobby, which felt embarrassing on my end. I left empty handed with the heavy feeling that IN THIS PLACE, PERSONNEL ARE ALLOWED TO BE RUDE TO CUSTOMERS.The thing is, I need to have my passport renewed and will have to come back here. They know it too so whatever bad review/ complaint I have will likely be falling on deaf ears. I look forward to coming back like I look forward to having my left arm chopped off.The terrible attitude and lack of manners in this place reminds me why I worked so hard to leave the Philippines.
The friendly atmosphere and positive attitude of the Filipinos are here. When you’re in NYC this Consulate office/ Mission of the Philippines to the United Nations welcomes anybody who enters this building on 5 Ave not too far from the Rockefeller Center. The interiors are great with the hanging chandelier on the ceiling made of local Philippine material capiz shell. The staffs are friendly and knowledgeable. The restrooms though need to be refurbished. Always a pleasure to drop by!
Before I went yesterday to PCG New York, I read reviews and I saw the low ratings of customer service and other services rendered. I carefully observed how will my experience be. The service at the receiving desk was just fine reviewing my passport, and prompting me to get ticket for my customer number. The attendant at window 4 was superb in her service, quick and polite, including the cashier. What disheartened me was the very young lady at the encoding. I requested for my picture to be redone since my eyes were not Ok...she insisted on saying it was already OK and showing me disinterest to grant my request. There were not much people maybe only 5 of us were there, so for just a minute to retake a digital photo is not a problem of holding the line for picture. In short, the young lady did not care at all to retake my shot. She is unfit to be in that post so to say. The first three employees I encountered Im rating them 5 stars...Encoding lady not even a 0.
If your interview for Dual is in the afternoon, you may ride on Bus(greyhound or peterpan) early in the morning. I came from Philadelphia station 11. If your interview in the morning ,maybe get a car and go to NY ,1 day before. When u arrive early, visit the St Patrick cathedral which is few blocks from the Embassy.
No one will help me on the phone. I am in tears! The consulate said I have to make an appointment online and check the list of required forms online. I had to go to the library and wait for someone to help me with the computer. I tried to access the website and the website was down. I called the phone number again to ask for help and was told again that I have to do everything online. I am 80 years old and this is not easy for me. Why cant an actual human being help me? It is a disgrace that the consulate cant help an elderly fellow Filipino woman ! Very sad and shame on you consulate !!!
Literally impossible to reach over the phone 3 days in a row, not responding to email for 2 days now. This is 21 century USA where both of these networks work completely fine, so why wouldnt they respond to incquires is beyond me. We are at a point where a group of 4 of us is changing plans to travel to a different country for 4 weeks because of lack of information. So I guess we will take our money elsewhere! 👎👎👎👎
Poor phone experience. Just called to get information on sending back the old passport I was placed on hold for 25 minutes nobody would come back on the phone I did not speak to this person again so I had no other option but to hang up I also left a message with my phone number and I did not receive a call back the whole point of this message is if it takes 25 minutes to find out if the new passport is available there is something wrong I personally believe they never come back on the phone because it was closing time very poor service.
We got here at around 10am coming from new jersey the place is packed and you can tell that everyone among the employees are trying to get the process moving. Our number was called and the guy from window 3 assisted us , we paid $25 for each document total of $100 that we asked to notarized and we were done around 11:30 am . Perfect !!!!But not really .....we have to wait until 4 PM to get our documents otherwise we have to come back the next day ,pay the the new York city tool and parking and maybe spend half a day to get the documents again. Or set to get the documents on mail and wait for 1 week.So..... we waited ... we had lunch .. and then we asked the lady with some dark spot around her eyes covering for the cashier if we can get the documents earlier than 4 PM. Her response was, wheres your receipt ? I went back to my wife to get it and showed it to her. She pointed to the receipt where it said that the pick up time is 4to 5 PM and said here!!!! Hindi ka ba marunong bumasa???? I told her I know but Im hoping if a can get it earlier she responded in a snobby way No you have to come back at 4pm.These bunch probably doesnt realized that they work for the Filipino people and their services are not free. This office needs to change their ways. The short ,heavy set guy who I noticed doing the stamping for notary at the right hand side of the office is always walking around and never on his desk no wonder we all have to wait. At 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM theres 2 window being assisted. Why cant they assist in stamping the damn paperwork?. How hard is it to stamp a paper? I wonder if they know that they are causing hardship to many Filipino. I hope someone will take care of this.Someone that makes sense.
I had a very bad experience when I renew my passport years back. I did not know you have to pay .25 for a copy and this clerk make a scene and told the other clerk to keep an eye of me. Most of the Filipinos stare at me but someone lend me .25 and told me that clerk is unprofessional and very rude. Hope you guys treat better your Filipino people. Not shame them.
Tried to call and could not get in touch with anyone. I even left a msg and call back number. The website is not very informative so i have to call to clarify things. Even tried the DC embassy, its the same. I dont know if you are understaffed or just wasting taxpayers money. Answer the phones. I need you to understand that some of us live far from the embassy and its infuriating when you tell us we did not bring this or that or you need us to come on certain days because certain people in the embassy only show up on certain days. If no one can answer your phone lines i highly recommend providing a chat service otherwise you need to consider closing your current location. Its very upsetting.
I finished renewing my passport and my sons within an hour i checked the website what ID card needs to be photocopied.. everyone is very helpful and polite from the reception to application encoding and payment...just double check before you leave, I almost miss giving the stamped envelope cus I didnt mention I want it mail delivered. Only thing is no one answered my calls in numerous occasions. Passport was received after 28 days, 60$ each renewed passports reasonable for prompt corteous service ;)
The Americans introduced bureaucracy to the Philippines in the early 1900s. the Filipinos perfected it and brought their perfected bureaucracy back to the U.S. While the U.S. has already cut red tape and burdensome bureaucracy, the Philippine Consulate in NYC has perpetuated it.Long line at the entrance so I got in line not knowing what it was for. There was no staff to tell anything to anybody. It was only the security guard who was processing the applicants and no other knowledgeable staff was helping or guiding him and the long line of people. Folks in line had to guess what to do. The consulate takes only cash and money order-- so backward in this modern age of technology and in the worlds largest city in a first world country. There are machines to take tickets from - but no staff to tell you what to do with the ticket. They just all assume and expect you to know what needs to be done and where to go. Only the lady at the dual citizenship desk did O.K. The others, not so. There was a lady at one of the windows who was condescending since I couldnt understand the bureacratic form that I was filling out. And she got even madder that I couldnt understand her English nor hear her clearly (because her bulletproof window didnt have sufficient holes). So she used the microphone and PA system. And boy did she insult me over the PA system for everyone to hear.I finished my business after a whopping 4 hours, something that I think could have been done in an hour (since my paperwork had earlier been submitted via mail). One person I spoke to said it was his 3rd visit since each time he went, the staff found something new to reject in his paper work. This bureaucratic office tops it all. It makes the DMV look very very efficient. (We all know how going to the DMV is like pulling teeth without novocaine.)
The worst ever!Make sure to copy all your documents before going here because you will need to spend a few dollars for copying. And make sure to google it first before coming in here because you will never know when they are open, because they have a lot of holidays! So I went here to get get a notarized SPA and I asked them to have it delievered so I payed for additional fee for the delivery. But 2 weeks has gone and I still dont have it. So I went to their office again and pick it up myself. It was just there sitting for more than 2 weeks! What the hell! I showed them my receipt that this is suppose to be delivered. They didnt even apologize and instead of refunding my money for the delivery fee they just gave me an envelop that has a stamp on it.And they have a lot of holidays! Count all the holidays in the Philippines (which is reasonable) and all holidays here! (which I dont know why and how they were affected)Such a lazy and corrupt office!I really hate this place. They are not very helpful!
Came on Monday- 11am - Passport Renewal of a Minor- my daughter. NO Credit or Debit card accepted. Prepare to have cash and quarters (for photocopy). As for this transaction I needed; (1) Filled out Application form. (*) present expired passport (1) Photocopy of NSO authenticated Birth Certificate (1) Photocopy of her expired passport. (1) photocopy of her green card - for ID document. (*) Presented my own valid Philippine passport as her Mother/guardian and submitted (1) photocopy.VERY IMPORTANT, SAVES YOU A WALK TO THE POST OFFICE!!--> Along with the supporting documentation above, if you wish to have the renewed passport mailed TO YOU rather than picking it up, bring with you a !!! Prepaid express mail with stamp !!! (Flat rate)They dont have this available for you at the office, you would have to walk a few blocks to get this.If you dont have it and choose to not get it, you will have to pick it up, but who wants to come here twice!
Such an outdated system in this embassy. The renewal of passport took 3 hours to file. They DO NOT take any forms of payment unless it is cash or companys check. The ticket for the wait line is handed at the door, however everything was backed up because of the encoding window. There are 3 window available but only 1 person working. If you need cash, closest ATM I found is either BANK OF AMERICA or at THE ROOSEVELT which is a block away. Additionally when my husband called for the hours of operation, the receiving end was so nasty, asked him condescendingly if his government works on the weekends, mind you my husband is a Marine Veteran and worked 24/7 even on weekends when duty calls. I am truly embarrassed as this way of service is NOT a reflection of our people.1. Update the payment method2. Put more able bodies in the enconding window3. IMPROVE our customer service as if it represents our filipino culture.
We were at the Philippine Embassy for notarization yesterday ...upon arrival, a gentleman at the information desk named Erwin greeted us, ask us what we need done and made us felt welcomed. He’s very helpful and directed us which way to go...we didn’t wait long and Nelvin at the window called us and he is such a gentleman as well...he made sure that all our papers were complete and told us that everything will be done the same day and will be ready for pick up in the afternoon. I’m so proud of these two young gentlemen who really take pride on what they do, very professional and yes, very efficient. Thank you for all your help.
Employees are either incompetent or lazy. They dont have standard rules. I went there four times for same reason. I spoke to different employees, and they all said different things. The workers there should be replaced. They are all not helpful and arrogant. They wouldnt accept any corrections. My experience here was very unpleasant and frustrating. How I wish the Consul General would do something to make the public service way better.
Unbelievable! No one ever answers the call. I even have a phone number and extension of the person I talked to when I was there 3 weeks ago. Why do they have to advise to call them for follow-up If they cannot answer the call. I live 45 minutes away from NYC, but going to their office just to follow up is definitely not an option.
For goodness sake, do NOT even try to line up and use their photocopier. They charge you $.25 per paper for a copy. Avoid the line, hassle and overcharge by crossing the street, turn to your right and once you hit the corner turn left. There is a Fedex office there. Cheaper photocopy service, minus the hassle and clearer copy. Also, be careful with the bureaucrat taking the picture of the Passport who is ill-prepared and INEPT of taking the picture for your passport. Not only are your pictures unflatteringly ugly but when you complain for a retake she just wont allow it. TERRIBLE! So I am stuck with an awful picture for the next 10 years on my PASSPORT. Goodness gracious I should just burn this piece of cr*p and report it as lost. BE PREPARED WHEN TAKING YOUR PICTURE because the person in charge is unprofessional and a ghastly individual who has no ounce of HUMAN compassion. Unbelievable!
So this is an update of my previous review. I will take out 1 star because of the fact that besides their website, the only way to get info on anything is to go there and speak to somebody - if youre lucky enough to get an audience. My advice is to take the info from their website and follow it blindly. It is not cheap going into New York, theres tolls, parking, food, and the wait. But for all the hassle of going there for document processing, the embassy staff do deserve some credit as one can always get their documents at the scheduled time. This embassy seriously needs a help line for questions, but I suspect theyve taken that away. The security guards dont seem to be very friendly, but it does have the effect of intimidation, just dont let that affect your experience. If you have your done your homework, all supporting documents are in order, your experience will be much better.
I went to the Consulate today at 1:30pm for Notarization purpose. Registered in the reception, got a number and was told to go downstairs where processing is done. I waited for my number for more than 30 minutes then an announcement was made that their numbering system is not working and just go straight to the window. So whoever gets to the window first gets the attention. At my turn, filled out my papers, signed and told to go to cashier, paid $25.00. After paying I thought I could get my papers right away because Notarization wont take long, its just recording and stamping but I was told to go back tomorrow because its already cut off time but they close at 4:00pm. Im from New Jersey, I have to pay the $15.00 toll on GWB, $55.00 for the parking plus the traffic and I told the lady in the counter the trouble of coming but she said the other lady is from Connecticut and she has to come back too. This just shows how inept their way of doing things in this Consulate, making people suffer for just a simple task. Im just hoping they will change their inept system and do things on the same day especially dealing with seniors.Just my suggestion, why cant they follow the system at DMV where thousands apply for a Drivers Licence here a day. Although most people spend more hours at DMV which Americans are complaining a lot, you dont have to go back if you have all your requirements with you. The Consulate system is still doing the old Filipino way. Unfair for out of towners. Time to change. Do the right thing please.
They seem to be overly anal about silly details and ridiculous procedures, but I always got what I came for. Their waiting area downstairs is quite challenging if you are claustrophobic. Luckily I was OK but there was this lady there who needed help. Other than that, it was just fine. The staff is courteous and respectful.
Very disorganized and slow, definitely need more windows open for people. A lady right next to me said she’s been here since 9am, and it’s 5:17pm and we’re both still waiting. Website is down, nobody answers phone calls. I had to open DC’s Philippine embassy website just to find out what I needed to renew my passport.
TO ALL WHO ARE HOLDING PHILIPPINE PASSPORT THAT IS NOT EXPIRED YET, IN ADDITION TO THE ARTICLE HOW TO RENEW A PHILIPPINE PASSPORT IN THE U.S.? , here are some of the tips that I would say will help you to make your experience easier. (I renewed my passport in the PCG in New York last February)1. Download and print the passport renewal form and FILL OUT AT HOME ( because the space is a little tight and there is no table for you to use to fill out those form . We were asked to stay on the first floor and wait for our name to be called to go downstairs )2. Bring the necessary documents / requirements. In our case we have to photocopy in each paper the 1.personal information page of the passport and 2.the VISA page together with our green card ( if you are not able to do so, there is a photocopy machine downstairs but you have to pay a quarter for each page).3. Place the photocopies and the green card in between the Passport for each applicant to make it easier for the staff to file them.4. It is $60 processing fee for each applicant and YOU HAVE TO PAY IT IN CASH ( no business cheque or credit card) . You may tell the staff that you want your renewed passport mailed to you and that is for an additional fee.5. Then wait for your name to be called for the passport photos (in this section most of the staffs here are friendly and accommodating ) wear clothes with sleeves and collar to be sure, no face piercing is allowed and you may have to remove your eyeglasses if you are wearing one.6. It is usually 6 to 8 weeks after your application that you can retrieve your renewed passport and old passport.I had a tiring experience on our visit because there were a lot of people that day ,I got 3 bored kids with me and the space is really tight . I hope these tips will help your passport renewal experience easier.
This is the worst kind of consulate office. You cannot reach anyone by phone. Their email info in not even an official one. @gmail accounts used to communicate with confidential information. Their phone numbers and extension are incorrect on their website. Any extension you press goes to the visa section. The consulate is more concerned on social functions that servicing the people. You have to go into their office just to ask some questions. I guess they assume everyone lives in NYC. :( When in the office waiting, you hear phones ringing off the hook but you see people who work there just ignoring it. We need another consul to run this place properly.
Horrible customer service. The people working here have no customer service skills at all. They will give you the disgusting Filipino attitude. Crab Mentality at the finest quality. They need to hire new people here. I hope President Duterte gets rid of these lazy Filipinos working at this consulate. They spent more time with gossips and calling their friends during work hours rather than attending the people who are waiting for their number to be called. They are very rude and they cant even speak English. Not even any simple English. No matter how nice you are to them they will give you that cranky snobbish Filipino attitude as if they are better than you. They need to be deported and let others who have better customer service skills work at their position. Out with the old and in with the new. They should go back to the Philippines with that kind of ugly attitude. I hate this place. If you want to experience the worst Filipino attitude that the Philippines has to offer, its this place in Philippine Consulate in NY. They make all Filipino people look bad.
As with the other reviewers it’s impossible to make an appointment online and when you speak to their rude representative they will ask you to go online or email. When you email them they will ask you to go online and that wait time is 6 months? Seriously? The worst embassy ever!!! You don’t deserve a star.
Horrible! If I could give them a 0 star review I would. I have wasted so much time and effort and more TIME going to this place just to see if a legal document that I have is sufficient and will be accepted in the Philippines. I have called and the lazy people there NEVER answer or return 2 messages (when I have not been at the embassy I have tried calling). They have not responded to my email either (I only sent one). They seem to have no standards of service and are completely inefficient when it comes to organizing appointments. What I need done literally would take 5 minutes-not even for someone to just look at the piece of paper and say its good or no, its not acceptable. I dont know if they are giving me the shaft, because Im not from the Philippines and only speak English, but it is truly annoying. I cant stand this place
Its small and cramped but its in a great location, a power address if you will. Its not well laid out so it can be chaotic with people moving between service counters. Expect the usual bureaucracy but the employees are at least pleasant. They do not have basic office equipment such as photocopiers. If you need to photocopy, you will be asked to go to Fedex a block away.
This is a repost from a one star i previously had on my experience 10 years ago. The embassy is so much more efficient these days .More efficient, faster, friendlier and accomodating. They should fix the camera though, too short and take unflattering photos. I wish they at least have water or drinks since many of us have to travel far away to get to this embasssy. Overall, great experience and smooth application process than previous times.
My husband & I went to the Philippine Consulate General in NY yesterday, April 13, to have my passport name amended and to report our marriage. We arrived at 8:40AM. The receptionist asked for my passport and what kind of transaction I will be doing with them. After that, he allowed us to wait in the lobby. At 9:00AM, there was a flag ceremony attended by the whole staff and the rest of us who were waiting at the lobby. It was very moving to sing the Philippine national anthem with my fellow kababayans. At around 9:15AM, my name was called and was instructed to proceed to the office with the door under the huge wall clock. Once inside, we waited for another 5 minutes before a lady staff attended to us. She was courteous and helpful. We had a missing document - notarized affidavit on delayed report of marriage. But she gave us a standard form of this document which we can just fill out and she even advised us where we could have it notarized for free. She even gave us the exact address which was close by. We finished doing all our business with the consulate by 11:10AM. We were very satisfied with the kind of service that was provided to us. The whole staff was accommodating and professional. Mabuhay kayong lahat!
Not good service. Lack of communication from the staff. Slow service. Took about 4 hours and 15 minutes to finish 2 applications (report of marriage and application for new passport with change of legal name). Make sure you always ask the staff about the correct requirements because the list of requirements they gave is not accurate. No one will answer when you call the landline, it is always a voicemail. The system needs to be changed, so it will be efficient.
I would have wanted to give this a 5-star rating if it wasnt for the security or receptionist, or whatever the position of the first person you will see when you enter the office. Perhaps it was the summer heat that made the person not so friendly when greeting us Filipinos who went there and asked for help, but it would be nice if the person will be friendly, especially since he/she is the first person you will see when you go inside. The person did answer my questions but didnt seem really interested to help fellow kababayans.I was told to go inside the office and talk to another person (perhaps an officer or staff). That other person was very helpful and accommodating, answering all my questions. Unfortunately that other person gave me a wrong form (totally different from what I needed). I wish I had double checked the form before leaving. Would have saved me a lot of time and effort.Best to check their website first, then go to this place.
The staff I spoke with on the phone was very unprofessional, not helpful and incompetent. I can not believe that they are being paid by the Philippine government by the taxes of its people to represent our country. From the reviews I have read, the complaints are consistent. I am not sure why such unprofessional-ism and incompetency is being tolerated. I think if the government really is serious with boosting up tourism and the image of the Philippines, they should start with costumer service changes and the people that are said to represent our country.
I just hope that the Consul General has a personal email account for his KABABAYANs so that he will know how inefficient his staffs. So frustrating why these people work in the embassy but cant help their KABABAYAN. VERY POOR SERVICE!!!My husband and I mailed the package last Sept 24, 2016 to report our marriage, Sent them an email many times, called them many times but until now NO RESPONSE from them..
Went with my wife to have her passport renewed, everything was fast and efficient at first but the attitude of the people.... and once she was done with her interview she was asked if she would pick it up her passport once available or she would have it mailed. Ive read the instructions needed to have it mailed from phillipine consulate website and stated to use a prepaid envelop from usps or any courier of your choosing such as fedex or ups. Ive bought a prepaid envelop for her passport from fedex then the lady gave an attitude stating we dont use fedex anymore due a certain fee... and then I asked the front desk if they arent using fedex anymore then why is still is still on the instructions on their website. The gentleman in the front desk just told me hindi ko alam.... the process of renewing her passport took about 1 hour, the people inside that embassy is not as friendly as I would expected.
Like seriously I called, and ask some questions regarding about how to change your last name due to your recent marriage, and all she said is I cant answer that you have to do this and that like seriously? and I need a judge to report etc., doesnt make sense to me because you dont explain it well and good enough for me to understand, its horrible I wish theres another place we can go and seek for help than dealing with this people think there all that. because there working in the Philippine embassy. But know nothing but being idiot.
Priority mailed document to be authenticated 2 months ago...arrived..check not cashed..docs either unopened or lost. Tried calling down there many times..cant talk to a live person..left voicemail, email,,nothing. Now will need to travel to NYC to track down my document. Incompetence at its best.Even tried calling DC Consulate..same runaround. Unbelievable.
I dont believe this I check to make scheduled for legalization its been one month I check to place an appointment its always appear sorry no appointment open how is that? for those people who need to notarized their documents asap, I hope I can get an appointment soon and there somebody from Philippine Embassy will help me
RE: MICHAEL F. AZUCENAI want to express my gratitude to MR. MICHAEL F. AZUCENA.Not only he is knowledgable of his work as PAG-IBIG Manager / Coordinator but for his being very helpful to his country men who is really in need of help. My niece lost her passport at Woodbury Commons Outlet Store in NY. Apparently somebody stole her hand bag ( with all her money and travel documents inside ) when we were at the Food Court when we are still waiting for some of my cousins who are still shopping. We file a police report and I decided to call Mr. Azucena who happened to emailed me my Pag-Ibig inquiry that I asked him a month ago. I called his no. and he answered me. Its about 4:00 PM ( Thursday afternoon) already. I explained to him what happened and he told me to hang up, and call him after 10 mins. because he will asked somebody from the Phil. Consulate what needs to be done. Guess what, after a while he called me instead and explain to me what we have to do. From gathering all the necessary papers , such as a copy of my neice passport and birth certificate. We were able to do all those with the advice of Mr. Azucena. My niece who should be travelling the following day with the family to Atlanta for his dad Rotary activities and family tour were left behind.Friday after bringing my cousins to JFK Airport we went straight to Phil. Consulate in NYC. I was able to see Mr. Azucena and again he help us to get the Travel Document that my neice needed so she go back home to Phils. She and her older sister missed the bonding time with their family but at least they were able to enjoy the 3 days that they stay with us in NJ and NYC.I hope that all the the Philippine Consulate workers will do the same as what Mr. Michael Azucena did to us. A helping hand with a smile ,It really makes a difference. We are proud of you Mr. Azucena.Thank you once again and God bless always,Carlito and Flor de JoyaNew Jersey
They improved a lot from my last visit there two yrs ago, now they have a system, from entering the lobby, they give u a stub and you just go straight in the basement! Just stayed there less than an hour for my passport renewal, just come prepared with all the necessary documents and youre done in less the time!
Went there today to pick up my new passport....didnt know I had to bring old passport , person who processed it before , never mentioned to keep old passport , on my stub didnt even see checklist marked what tobring...why need to present the old passport again when they already punched holes in it!!! If for security reason ...will my face identity in the new passport change from 8 weeks from now???Why cant they ask for a valid ID eg your Drivers license??? Instead , they want me to come back again all the way coming from NJ!!! Ito yung sinasabi niTatay Digong...lessen the paper requirements that is sooo ridiculous !!!to hasten and not waste peoples time and effort !!! Your processing is indeed very anal and a waste of time ! Be more considerate and more effective in releasing documents please! Time for a change!!!!Wake up!
All I can give is ZERO star. I have been calling for 2 days but still nobody answers the phone call. The so called press (*)star followed by the EXTENSION NUMBERS are INVALID. Press 0 for more questions and voice mail does not help at all. Its always unable to take your call right now. Please leave your name, phone number, email address, and brief message? Seriously???!!!! Does anybody want to take responsibility just by answering a phone call?!!! Better delete the contact numbers in your website!!!! How can you better help your fellow citizens with this kind of customer service?!!!
It was announced that office will resume on 6/12/2020. However I have been calling the office but no one picks up the phone. I tried 3x but no avail.Attempted to call again on 7/2/2020 but unsuccessful.Sent an email and got a response immediately.Thank you and got instructions.
Tips for applying DUAL dont go there in the morning since oath-taking is typically 3:30 pm, best to do it after lunch, process is fairly quick as long as you have everything prepared bring all ORIGINAL documents and 2 copies of each (on-site copier is 25cents per copy), print and fill out the updated application form that can be downloaded on their site. For dual you dont need to get phil passport, but you can still get if you need it (as id for phil banks, etc). Get a PREPAID LABEL Priority Flat Rate Envelope addressed to yourself so dont need to come back and claim the passport. Theres a post office a few blocks from PCG its on 43rd St.
It is very disappointing making a call to the Embassy to ask for guidance or simply to know of any changes in time schedule. There is just nobody answering the phone for hours. It is not the conducive place to call as a Filipino Citizen in case of any emergency involving nationality issues.
Not sure if this place is even open. Been trying to get an online spot for 4 weeks now. I try 5x a day. You waste your time typing all the info. Why not just post on the website there are no slots at all. You call they never pick up and they do not return calls either. All other business are bumping up customer service while this place does not care about urgency at all. Poor poor leadership.
We are way past the start of the digital age and they are still stuck in the Stone Age. The process of obtaining a notary is ridiculous. I dont quite understand why one has to come back the next day or 5 hours after on the same day for a notary. Why they have to pile up the work for someone to do later rather than at the same time you are seen is beyond comprehension. This ridiculously inefficient process is one example of the lack of progressive thinking and zero consideration for people that have traveled from far.
The people were really rude to my dad. They gave him the wrong information about his expired passport. They were telling him that he was rude & said that he was lying to them when they were the ones lying and didnt know anything about what the request was. Instead of saying the wrong information, ask someone else! Walang hiya naman kayo!
No matter how prepared you come. You’re not. There are so many requirements needed, but you wouldn’t know that because they do not answer the phone, the instructions are very unclear, and they expect you to already know what to do. Even though they have downloadable forms on their website they don’t tell you how many photo copies to have & how to arrange it. Overall a very bad experience.
I arrived 9:07AM and was out by 10AM. They are quick from accepting the application to payment, the wait is a little longer for encoding which is the last part since they will 1. Encode your info 2. Let you check it 3. Take your Picture (sometimes their database will reject it so they have to take it again) 4. Get your signature and finally 5. Take your left and right thumb and index finger prints. The employees are nice, I talked to them in Tagalog and ALWAYS say SALAMAT or THANK YOU after each transaction.Their website have everything you need so read that and prepare in advance, para pagdating dun hindi ka na magtatanong because that will be the root cause of your delay.TIPS:1. Download application forms on their website and fill-out beforehand para hindi sayang sa oras.2. Bring photocopies and other requirements needed.3. Bring exact amount para mabilis yung transaction with the cashier.4. If youre going to have your passport mailed, buy a flat rate envelope with stamp from USPS, malaking envelope sya and parang kahon yung material.5. Wag na tumawag sa telepono, lahat ng kailangan mo nasa website nila, matutong magbasa.6. Be nice to the employees, say good morning, kumusta, and most specially thank you.
I went there to file for a dual citizenship. Once you enter the building, a rude security guard answers your question as if you are the dumbest person in the world. He was rude to the non-filipino before me (Is this how we represent ourselves to the world. BUT once you get in, the people are very nice.
I called them couple of times, left a message in their voicemail box, email them as well regarding the change of delivery address for my passport which I recently renewed, NEVER got a response from them confirming that they read or received my calls. Really disappointed!!!
HORRIBLE!Dont even try calling the phones, if you are lucky you will get an email response in 2 days, when you get there it is so crowded and disorganized, then they will of course not have you document ready when they said they would...If you are are going here for a TRAVEL VISA my advice is to travel to another beautiful Asian country , this isnt worth it!
This is a no star. 1. Releasing of passport section. Answering the phone very unproffessional...hello???? Oh bakit parang ang layo mo..oh ngayun marinig na kita (after i screamed) oh ngayun ano....magsalita ka anong magagawa ko (in a rude way)2. Releasing of passport section.Tranfer a call. Asaaaaan ang transper dito uiiii! (Loud, to a colleague.3. Releasing of passport and report of marriage section.Youre talking and she and he is also talking. Instead of listening first. That made me scream first before they listen to my explanation.4. The way they deal to their kababayan , porke nagtatrabaho sila sa phil. consolate ng america, pasiga-siga sa customer service? Pwede ba!!5. Hang-up the phone when he heared me being frustrated calling them many times to send my document when i talked to several people and still didnt received.Sorry ha, pero parang walang pinagkaiba sa mga rude na emplayado na nasa Pilipinas. Pagbutihan nyo naman konti
We went to the Philippine embassy yesterday and it was closed because it was a holiday in the Philippines. We checked their website twice and 31st was never posted as a holiday. We were furious to find out they were closed. Worst Philippine embassy!!!! They think everyone lives in NYC.

2022-05-31Was there to get my dual, i think it was quick, right on time and organized.. as long as you make an appointment, youll be fine. The one processed my papers was very nice and very efficient. The only things is the place definitely need an upgrade , they need to spruce it up coz it looks like an old muggy office in the PI. The lobby looks nice but needs to have a lounge or chairs for waiting

2022-01-11It took more than a month to get an appointment maybe because of the pandemic. Almost everywhere nowadays is struggling with staffing. Smooth process while there. Helpful staff.

2021-07-03I came here in NYC to renew my passport. Everyone in the Philippine Consulate General was so accommodating. The greeters are prompt and they gave clear instructions right away. They were also thoughtful and allowed my husband and baby to enter the building as it was about to rain. Their team is made up of kind and helpful Filipino people. The ones working for passport services were as efficient as well. They helped me and made sure I have everything settled before leaving. I am glad I found this place and will most likely recommend to others.

2021-11-24Dignified looking and in the middle of 5th Avenue. It has an SSS office. Our Filipino kabayans we met here are nice and helpful. For Filipinos living in New York and close by, I highly recommend to secure your SSS number and contribute monthly. You can pay annually too. For a minimum of 10-year or 120 monthly contributions, you’ll get pension for life beginning 60.

2021-08-03Had the smoothest passport renewal. The new automated system facilitates everything, including the flow of people. Everyone was nice and attentive. Here’s hoping in getting my passport sooner!

2022-03-17If only I can give ZERO STAR I would! Their appointment system is the worst of all. Its impossible to get an online appointment given checking it almost every single day from early morning up to night time. It’s ridiculous! It’s like how many millions of Filipinos living in NewYork that they can’t even accommodate well! Not only that, staff are very rude and unprofessional dealing with clients. One word I can define this lousy consulate office- USELESS! Yes totally useless for years! I haven’t seen any changes for years honestly! Poorest services in the world, just like how it goes in the Philippines. No wonder PH is still third world country until this time!

2022-03-17Ive had good and bad experiences here but today 3/17/2022, Im only giving stars to commend the pleasant guards and other staff. Our appointment was scheduled for 9-10AM. The first part where documents are verified was a breeze. We were informed that the system for biometrics and photo is being updated. I do not understand why it has to update while appointments are ongoing. 9-10AM appointments progressed to Step 2 around 11AM. When it was my turn, the lady at Window 8 was very abrasive and makes rude comments when you dont follow her instructions to a T. i.e. Kailangan kita yung tenga, hindi nakatakip ng buhok, kaya nga pinatatanggal ko yung hikaw eh. (I was not wearing earrings btw). Biometrics time, she was frustrated that the system wasnt registering my prints and made it seem like it was my fault while I was doing exactly what she says. The system logged itself out and I was transferred to another window. The lady in the other window was much nicer and accommodating, I felt bad for her though, the system wasnt loading the appointments for the day so she had to manually enter my details.I understand that she was probably under stress, but its not fair to lash out on people youre serving. And I also saw reviews and it looks like were talking about the same person. Please do better. They only accept cash, company check or money order.

2022-04-09It was grueling to secure a passport renewal appointment. Aside from the fact that the slots were very limited, when slots finally opened up, the site crashed and crashed and crashed some more. On the appointment day itself, things were worse. A certain employee was very unprofessional. Biometrics machine was, to put it mildly, a piece of junk. And oh, after weeks of waiting, I still do not have my renewed passport. 👎

2022-03-09I had a very pleasant experience with our professional civil servants at the Philippine Consulate in New York. I came to renew my passport and was out of the building within 30 minutes tops. Please bring all the required documents. Do everything online. Once your information is properly inserted, the form will then automatically process with all the relevant information inside. You can then print the form which will include the date and time of your appointment printed on the top hand side and also a bar code on the right hand side of the form. In case you need to make photo copies, a copying machine is available. Please bring quarters. If by chance you do not have any, please bring small notes and change for quarters with the Security Officer at the front entrance. Everything is accessible and readily available. Kudos to our kababayans working at the Consulate General of the Philippines in NY!!! Excellent job!!! I was expecting the worst and received a total opposite experience from the Security Officer that met me upfront and guided me below, to the lady at the first window for verification and processing, the cashier lady that received my 60 USD payment for passport renewal (and my prepaid USPS return envelope), all the way to the absolutely kind and pleasant lady that took my photos for the passport. She even mentioned that she visited the place where I was born earlier whilst in the Philippines. Awesome people!!! Treat them right and they will reciprocate with kindness and professional support. Thank you.Just to add to this post, on the 8th of March 2022, I received my Philippine passport via USPS. Thank you everyone at the Consulate General of the Philippines NY!!! You guys are simply awesome! :)
