Its a true third-world country. Its impossible to register online to make an appointment. Its always something wrong with the registration process. Nobody answers the phones, only one email had been replying but stopped, and didnt resolve anything. Their online chat help doesnt help at all.Youre the only office that represents your citizens in NYC and you have done nothing to solve this issue. As you can see the time window isnt active, so it wouldnt let me move forward with an appointment registration.
I was late for my appointment ( passport renewal) due to train traffic (hello, MTA😈) and came in 2 minutes before closing. Honestly ,I was 100% sure that they will reschedule my appointment ( Ive waited for it for over a month ) and send me home. NOT only they took care of me, they even helped me with filling in the forms and went above and beyond!Needless to say theyve exceeded all my expectations! The passport was ready in a little over a month.Very happy and satisfied with the whole experience! Want to thank everyone who works in the consulate!
So thankful for being able to schedule an appointment now! The consul is very knowledgeable and professional.I came for my appointment to apply for passport renewal ( WITH ALL REQUIRED DOCUMENTS) and was done in 10 minutes!! I have noticed that people come unprepared and are very rude because the counselor cannot process their requests. Well, their website has ALL INFORMATION written in details!!!
This Embassy is the worst experience I have ever had. I tried to call them for weeks, 20-30 minutes in a row each time. They just would not respond in any manner! No services are offered online besides signing up for an appointment, and there is no way address a specific matter or re-book the appointment. This is truly a 3rd world country.
Before everything, I went to the Ukraine consulate to apply for a tourist visa. And to be honest, this was my first time that I apply for a visa. Now, I can say that it was a good experience. The attention was good, the process was simple, and the environment was fine most of the times. However, the only thing that I dont like is the disorder. In order to make clear this situation is one dat I went early to the consulate; however, there were people that was earlier than me. But the problem was that people didnt know who had to be first in the line. When I asked where is the line? They told me theres no line. 😅😅😅Overall, I had a really good experience.
If you come prepared (checked their site for procedures and lists of documents) - you’ll be done in no time! The staff is friendly, professional and works fast. I was especially impressed by them staying after working hours to make sure all people in line got in!Have a question - shoot them an email! Mine were answered within minutes!
Staff is disrespectfull to all customers. They are always on their phones even when anwsering customers questions. I felt like i traveled in time and stood on a bread line during communism. DO NOT recommend to anyone. They act like you are beneath them. Those people need to be replaced, they destroy Ukrainian reputation.
If you are not dumb and can read instructions prior visiting the place - you should be served pretty fast. I had two inquiries during my stay in the US and had to visit the Consulate - my experience was good. I have seen staff served visitors even though those missed something or missunderstood, however I don’t think Consulate had to do so. In other words from what I have seen - they really tried helping Ukrainian citizens whenever it was possible, while still was some who complained, but I think this type of people are just born to complain. Wish our Conulate staff patience in their mission, while still it would be great to have more remote/online services provided in the future withouth visiting the office
Well, I actually would not agree with three negative reviews above. My experience with General Consulate of Ukraine was far better than the others, no doubt.Pros: People know what they are doing and know their jobs. And as for money orders as the only payment option... well, Uzbek Consulate is the same at this point. All of them I think are.Pricing... For what I came there the pricing was more than fair. (You have to be preped and documents should be preped on the level, then you wont have to bother people who work there to reprint this and that...)Cons. The place is small, true and the waiting time really depends on the amount of visitors and a type of business that brought you there.Phone calls... Very hard to get your phone call answered. Visiting is the only way to get some info out of those walls.
Awful place. I came 3 times and still don’t have anything. First time they refused to sign my docs and told we have to do another instead. Ok. Second time - we don’t do it today. Ok. Third visit - you have to send us this docs via email? Seriously? Why you didn’t tell me this before?? Also be ready to spend few hours on line 😊
Honestly I have no idea why they exist. I needed to add new picture in my Ua passport as I turned 25 years old. I couldn’t ,the Consulate said I can do it only in Ukraine. Then I wanted to change my passport because I got married and cnahged my last name. And again no...I need to go to Ukraine for doing this. All countries have normal passport service. You can solve your passport issues in embassy. Not his one
The worst customer service ever! Apparently, none of the employees know how to use the phone because they never answer it. This is absolutely unacceptable for an establishment of the international level. All of the services are overpriced and processing times for simple documents take months. Very disappointing.
Very slow. Staff is extremely rude and disrespectful. It is very strange to receive such an attitude from the notary, probably she forgot that she represents the country and this is not her own business. According to the notary - she does not care what I was told when I phoned the consulate.
In principle, everything is unexpectedly polite, punctual and professional. However, this requirement to pay consular fees in the form of a money order is another rudiment, as for me, because you first look for what it is, then where they give it (banks do not do it!), Rummage in the mail and as a rule, you stand in a long queue to place this money order, drumming it into the consulate only so that the consular officer, in turn, took it to the bank, defending the appropriate turn, in order to deposit in the consular account. Extremely inconvenient with a glaring waste of time for both parties. In no other diplomatic institution where I had to visit, this would not be allowed: there, as a rule, you pay as you see fit - online, cash, card on the spot and so on.A separate story that deserves attention - required to fill out the form in Word (on the site). In Word, Carl !!! It seems that you were in some 1995-97. To tell the truth, I spent more time leveling all the fields, including for printing, because the template fields go beyond the limits of printing (!!!) than filling in the necessary details. And the country, they say, is already in the smartphone ...
This place is terrible. Rude and uncaring people work there.Personally to the consul: when you come to work, learn culture and respect for another person. Im a consul, and all- get on your knees and pray?! ?? !! What kind of relationship is this? You are a person who works in a position, provides services and receives a salary for it. All. It is not your responsibility to grumble or rude to others. Especially now in a time of war, when people need to show care and respect for others as never before. From the very arrival in the building, the barking began, a dissatisfied face, as if you are doing me a favor here. Get down to earth. You are no longer in Ukraine to be rude to the right and left. You are at work, so be kind enough to communicate politely and respectfully. Or find another job if you are so nervous and exhausted.
Quickly registered online, clarified all the details in a telephone conversation. Upon arrival for registration, the consul helped to fill in the necessary papers, after 15 minutes he received the necessary papers. Thank you to the consulate staff for the fast and quality work.
Very unprofessional! This morning at the appointed time of 9:40 am I brought a questionnaire with all the photocopies and originals, as well as Money Order, to apply for a new passport. The embassy employee accepted all the documents and said that the passport would be ready within 2 months. A couple of hours later, an embassy employee called me back and said that after checking my documents, she found that I had to pay another $ 40. I tried to explain to the girl that I had already returned home to NJ, to which I received an answer, if I do not bring a money order for $ 40, then she will cancel my profile and I will have to re-enroll and wait 2 months to submit all documents for a new passport again.Where are these uneducated people recruited from and what they are paid for.
Hello! For a month or so, I applied to the embassy for the registration of a new foreign. passports and would like to share my experience with everyone.Information on all the necessary documents can be found on the official website, you just have to spend time figuring out how to use it. Website developers, if you ever read this, please make a website for people where everything is written simply with minimal text and is clear. The points! A lot of people who read, brought the document with them, but did not bring a copy! Because bring a copy was written at the very end of a huge paragraph that no one reads to the end! People had to run, make copies of documents! If anyone is going to use the site, be sure to look for NY section of the NY site! The main site is very similar to the NY section, but there is no direct link to documents to bring with you! No direct link, Karl! There are pictures of the ambassador, there is some news! Is someone reading this news? As a person who needs to renew my passport, I want to read the news? Give me a direct link to the documents I need to bring, dont make me waste time looking. Believe me, the less time people spend looking for information, the more grateful they will be!The room is very small. There were many people! And only 3 chairs! This is not enough for old people and young children! Please, employees of the embassy, think about how you can organize a queue so as not to force people to stand. Young - thats okay, but old people - its not good!On the wall in the embassy there are samples of filling out forms, but there are no blank forms! Embassy! You charge $ 160 for passport renewals! Hey! Cant you buy paper and print blank forms with that money? Many people came without knowing that they had to fill out an application! Thanks to the site where it is very difficult to find information. Take from people not $ 160, but $ 165 buy a lot of paper, a printer and print blank statements, put some samples, let people who did not bring with them have the opportunity to correct this mistake! Do for people, not against people, please! And now I would like to thank the employee of the consulate, a young guy, it seems his name was Miroslav Mironovich! Give the young man a prize! Better yet, raise your salary! Im not even asking, but demanding! The person is very professional, treats people with respect, selflessly does his job! I am very glad that such people exist and work in the state structure! I wish him happiness and health by default! Im serious, if someone from his superiors reads these reviews, then raise the persons salary! And I would like to see more of these young people in the state. structures of Ukraine.I hope someone will read my review and positive changes will occur. Pis everyone ✌🏻
Power of attorney for discharge. Without the original birth certificate $ 80 (money order) with the original $ 50 (money order. (I did not find the price on the website). The online helper on the site offers to go and reassure from Monday to Friday. The piece of paper on the door says Tuesday through Friday. In reality, you have to wait 23 days before the next appointing. For example, today is 4 and the nearest free date is 27.There is 1 power of attorney for one apoitment, no matter what relatives. Accept only the power of attorney for whom the application is issued In general, you will pay from 50 to 80 and you still need to travel to them 3 times. Therefore, 1 star.
On April 24, 2017, I had a chance to visit the consular office of Ukraine for the first time in my life. impressions are different. I had to wait in line for about two hours, which is no longer usual for the United States, but there were about 15 people in front of me, which, as it turned out later, were served by only two people. These two people, a guy and a girl, are trying as best they can calmly and with respect for everyone !!! a person who turned to them had a chance to hear stories from illegal immigrants in the United States who wanted to get a Ukrainian passport because the old one had already expired before the need to go to the mother’s funeral for the owner of the green card.Well done employees. Gentlemen, bosses, do not be stingy, but raise peoples salaries, and even better, add money and people to help. Out of the corner of my ear I heard how the Poles were explained to the workers what and where to demolish and move, apparently there will be repair work. I hope there will be more space, as well as chairs. Still, for $160 you can add a little more convenience, because the consulate is the face of the state!)
On the first of March I came with my friend to the embassy to renew my passport. We arrived at 2 oclock, then just as the reception on this issue begins! We stood in line for 2 hours, considering that the first few people in front of us were 21 more people. During these 2 hours the queue did not yield even one step. Now that I have been writing this for 16:46 and we are still standing in front of us 4 people and these are just those standing on the street, with a bunch of people inside !!!!Although the boy from the embassy came out and said that he would take us all 15 more people, and already 16:48, and the embassy closes at 17:00.Its just outrageous that workers are irresponsible and slow about their work, and as far as I know, this embassy serves several states and people here.Check the weather before you go to the embassy and pick up the umbrellas, as it will have to wait a long time + you can stock up for folding chairs for the same reason.I think the community will agree with me that you need to sort out the work of the embassy and I hope the embassy itself will pay attention to this feedback and take action !!!Because sorry for the words time is not rubber! It is not stretched especially in the states !!!
The embassy was very surprised. They did the whole family passports. They made an apojtment. Collected all the documents listed on the site. We were received earlier, all of us quickly. The young consul was discreet and pleasant, explaining everything. Allowed a copy of the Other Passport of the Child that we forgot to make - Send by mail. Also a girl with white hair who took pictures will also be very polite;).Thank you very much.
For all time in the USA, today for the first time has addressed to our embassy. The queue is long in the street, what you will not see under any embassy, the service is too slow. Consul asked the people why they had not made copies of the documents on the eve. When I called personally, no one warned, and secondly, where does the person know from what pages copy your question, yes I didnt decide, they said to go to Ukraine. So the question arises: what is the consulate for us, if there is no help from it? .
I made an order to sell the car, came to the end of the day to pick up, they made a lot of mistakes, I made comments, quickly reworked, I checked like everything was fine, but already in Ukraine, when I wanted to believe, the notary saw a lot of mistakes, negligent in a word, attitude to people and to his work, and even more than 80 dollars per piece of paper, dear ... sorry that we are so !!!!
They applied for citizenship and a passport for their daughter. Extremely pleasant experience. For starters, the girl who answers the calls is a golden man. I asked a thousand questions, called several times and even at the end of the working day, and she did not even pretend that something was wrong. On the contrary, she happily helped, gave advice on how best to do it.The visit to the consulate surprised no less. Professional and super friendly people. The consul is really the face of Ukraine and in this case there is something to be proud of. Consul with a great sense of humor, ready to help and go to the meeting. A good helper around, which helps speed up the work. Everything was hyper fast, we were even accepted faster than scheduled. The only thing is that everyone is very serious 😁, but this is our Ukrainian 😉Thank you for your work❤️❤️❤️
I would like to note that the staff of the consulate behaves very correctly and professionally. Also, before applying for a passport, you should very carefully read everything that is written on the website of the consulate in the relevant section. There is all the necessary and detailed information on the submission of documents, but it must be read in full. By the way, the biometric passport was issued even faster than promised. Thanks.

2022-03-30Hi!I’m truly and desperately expecting to have my errands done tomorrow at March 31, 2022. I’ve been trying to reach them ginormous amount of time but nothing works. I don’t know what the excuses are there … anyway, Ukrainian Embassy in NYC please works on the errors if you have so many dissatisfied people !

2021-08-25The experiences weve had a few years back and just this year have shifted towards a massive positive. All staff are competent -- Id even caution those who look at negative reviews to consider if theyre just upset because they could not follow instructions. All information is clear and posted, and there are no issues with contact so long as its within work time, from what weve found. We had a turbulent passport issue that they resolved quickly and to better benefit us, which was amazing.

2021-03-01Horrible service. They dont genuinely care about your case. I scheduled an appointment and went for a passport renewal. I brought all my paperwork and my childrens. Online they said one appointment for each case. When I got there, they said that they dont care and each child needs to have their own appointment even though they are minors under 12 years old. Their hotline does not work. Simply, if you dont want to help people and DO your job representing Ukrainians overseas, resign and dont waste our time!

2021-08-23Absolutely terrible !They never pick up the phoneI only got through to them once, after calling 18 !! Times in a rowHow dare you act like this ?!What if someone has a emergency ? This is what you’re there for. To help Ukrainian citizens abroad. There are no online booking slots ever !! If you need to update or replace passport - pray for a miracle. They just don’t care !

2022-03-03Don’t go to the embassy to volunteer, go to Warsaw then Lviv & make sure to have more than 1 contact to make sure you’ve reached there in good hands

2017-05-31Staff is very friendly and helpful, in general service is great. Ive applied for the biometric passport and the consul provided me with all the instructions I needed. Dont trust in bad reviews, thanks staff for their patience. I realized that some people who visit the consulate are like from the 90s and behave really mean and rude.

2020-12-18Want to give a shout out to the staff. It was a pleasant surprise to deal with someone extremely helpful, prompt and caring. Unfortunately I didnt get a name of a young gentleman working today. I was in and out in less than 15 minutes with all my enquiries taken care of.Thank you!
