Control in other cities:
This place is a dream. You can demo a huge array of eurorack systems or even jam with others in the room. They have a grip of used modules for incredible prices, and a very helpful staff. I especially enjoy it when Rob Lowe is there and he shows me what a module can do.
Even though I’m from Canada I usually bite the bullet and order from here. The service is just that good. Yesterday I enquired about my preorder and received not one but two emails (from different people no less) clearly explaining the situation with the manufacturer and giving me a clear timeline.
Look, im a sucker for shops that sell eurorack and various other synth gear. its going to be hard to get me to hate it. but that said, my brief experience at control was a pleasant one. was able to score a bit of kit that id been waiting for, and the staff was as excited as i was, which is how you know the right folks are running the place.
CONTROL is a GREAT place to check out new modular synths and one-off audio gadgets you will never find at other music stores in NYC. They specialize in modular synths - so dont expect to find lots of keyboards and drum machines. You wont. What you will find are a friendly, dedicated and knowledgeable staff who are happy to talk to you and answer any questions you may have while you get to PLAY with said gear. Every time Ive passed by Ive had a great time.Highly recommended - tell them antfactor sent you there!

2021-10-12Its the go to spot for modular synths in Brooklyn. Staff is nice. Store is pick up only, but the website is great, they seem to have great stock in all items. Life long customer had been made.

2019-07-31One of the best shops in the country for modular synth gear. Knowledgeable, friendly staff, accessible and attitude-free. You can test pretty much any module they sell, so plenty of bleeps and bloops going down in the shop at any given time. Ive spent a small fortune here and will gladly return to spend some more. Thank you for existing!

2018-06-16Lots of very cool stuff packed into an economical space. They do consignment, so check the used gear case! Very fair prices, good selection of modules, and a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Definitely worth a trip even if you arent in the neighborhood.

2018-10-13I haven’t purchased any products (yet), but one of the employees was kind enough to give me a product demo and recommended books for me to do more research before I can determine how I can design my own music interface. It was worth the visit and I plan on returning for future purchases.

2020-02-26Pretty much one of a kind here in nyc. It’s the only modular synth store i know of in brooklyn and they tend to have a lot of the new toys i’m looking for :) pretty friendly but maybe a little hipster as well (i guess that comes with the modular synth vibe?)Otherwise extremely helpful and hands on. If you want to try something out, they’re always happy to set it up for you. The prices aren’t exactly discount from what you might pay at a retailer but there aren’t really any of those in NYC anyway so the occasional deals they have here are better than nothing. So if you’d rather support a local synth shop where you can actually try stuff out before you buy, this is the place to go.
