We had my bridal shower here. My maid of honor picked it out. We had the restaurant to ourselves before it opened to the general public for brunch. We only have 19 people, minimal booking is 20. All you can drink mimosas, Bellini, and Bloody Mary. Appetizers were good, entrees were decent, dessert was good.Food 4 starsDrink 5 starsServices 5 starsSpace 5 stars
A must do whenever in NY. Last time we went to the Chelsea Market location - smaller space - same great experience. This time we went to the original on E13th. We tried SOMM / Like a Boss flight. Also the Oregon and Mixed Tape flight. And took a turn at the blind tasting. The problem is you just won’t want to leave! Oh and got in a little wine reading.
Came here before in the past and enjoyed it unfortanently this time around wasnt that great. Wines were probably the only good thing thia night.Chacuterie board was decent the coppa was good where are the other salumi tasted very artificial and generic. The cheeses were good expect for the pecorino that was basically all rind 3 out of 5 pieces to be exact... Not fun to bite into a chunk of wax during dinner. The gravlax was tastless, burata and eggplant french fries also tastless meatballs were decent have had better but they werent bad. I hope I can revisit with a different experience but unfortanently that was my night.
I wish it was possible to rate 6 stars. Had a birthday dinner there. Am from Dubai and spent quite a bit of time trying to find the best restaurant for wine. Looked up the 100 best Wine Enthusiast list. Did research otherwise on the net: quite a few sites. This wasnt listed in the 100 but while I was looking up restaurants this came as a recommendation from Google Maps. So did a few others. Chose this one- and am super glad we did.We did like a tapas plus wine flight dinner.Ricotta Plum Toast (A+), Mushroom Flat bread (A+), Burrata Brulee (A), Brown Butter Cauliflower (A) and Shrimp Cocktail (B). Except for the shrimp all others were just amazing. Dessert was Ricotta Doughnuts and Blood Orange Cheesecake. Didnt enjoy the cheesecake but the Doughnuts were out of this world. For wine did the wine flight. 3 glasses of wine in each flight. In the middle of the 2nd flight was asked to stop by the family. I had the Sommelier Mixtape which had one Greek and 2 Italian (Emilia Romagna) and another of 4 reds and Born in the USA. All excellent.Andrew, the sommelier was par excellence. His knowledge about wine was amazing. Was very patient about my umpteen questions. The meal wouldnt have been half as good without him talking to us about the food and the wine.At the end of it, think why arent there more of these kind of restaurants.Next time in NYC, am coming back.Edit Dec 2019Came back with a friend. It was a rainy evening and I walked in the rain to get here. Had a great dinner with amazing wine.
Searched high (uptown/midtown) and low-ish (flatiron) for a spot that offered wine flights. Two places I stopped into said they used to offer them before I finally arrived at Corkbuzz right when they opened. Not only do they offer a red and a white flight, but they are BLIND flights, which is perfect for someone studying for their entry Somm exam. Loved the atmosphere, the house made ricotta, and the staffs vast knowledge of wine. Will definitely be back!
Highly recommend this place for wine lovers. They have big long tables at the back, where they host wine classes, which are good for groups. A good selection of wine (and beer, cocktail, liquor), by glasses and by bottle. Staff are knowledgeable about the wine and very friendly.Food items are very wine pairing friendly. I personally found their small plates more interesting than entrees.I hosted a birthday dinner here, attended a few classes, and countless blind tastings, always very positive experience. Highly recommend! They have a champagne campaign: 50% off for all bottled champagnes after 9pm every night and all day Sunday. Should definitely take advantage of that!
The wine and service was great; however, unfortunately the burger and duck was very poorly made/ seasoned. I had to add ketchup to the duck to work around the horrible bland taste it had. The burger was also a bit burnt and had an old taste to it. Maybe the other choices would have been better, however I will not be returning here again. I would recommend looking for other places around the area.
This place is so fun! And the interior is awesome! The only thing that let me down was the ordering experience. This is a wine bar so in my opinion, the bartender should be able to recommend certain flavors for your preferred pallet. We verbalized to the bar tender that night that we want to order flights to try new ones out, but we were hesitant since we didn’t recognize the names. Instead of verbally giving us an idea of the flavors and essences of each flight, he pressured us to order one and then told us maybe one or two things about the wines... my flight was horrible. He didn’t hear me when I said I like floral and fruity flavors... NOT earthy. Other than my annoyance with that, the music was great and the selection was wide! Would be back... but would do my own research first to avoid another dissatisfying flight.
Excellent spot to have happy hour wines and snacks. we got there early so it wasnt really busy and we could hear each other. I just had the house special white which was delicious and my drinking companion tried a few different wines. We also had the cacio e Pepe popcorn and the hand cut fries with Parmesan. Definitely coming back for more!
Great selection of wines, appetizers and small plates. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Be sure to make a reservation as it tends to get busy during after work hours. Came in on a Thursday with some work friends and we did the blind tasting flight, a selection of red or white wines. Happy hour flight was $15 (+tax). Ive been here multiple times and would recommend to friends.
Corkbuzz is far more than a restaurant and wine bar, its a wonderful community for lovers of both wine and food. While quarantined, being able to take the virtual wine classes through Corkbuzz was absolutely amazing. At the time, I had been living over an hour and half from the nearest (wine) tasting groups in Boston, so being able to taste and interact with people who share the same passion for wine was and is awesome! Having bottles shipped to me blind, as part of one of the virtual classes, has also been immensely helpful in my studies for the Certified Sommelier exam. Not to mention, all the wines in the shipment were delicious. So grateful to learn from such knowledgable team and I cant wait to visit when Corkbuzz able to fully reopen.
The best picked out wine weve found in NYC. The tasting classes are extremely informative and their blind tasting from 4-6pm each day are extremely fun to do. If you want to appreciate wine and want learn a little more about what your buying go here! It also helps when a master somm picks out whats on the menu.
Great wine list and flight options galore, price points are quite reasonable. The food menu provides minimalist portions at plate prices. Service was quite attentive, waiters came by to get us water and ask us if we needed anything numerous times, additionally, theyre white knowledgeable!
Casual watering hole for wine enthusiasts. Designed for connoisseurs but equally welcoming to average joes, like my group.Lots of wine & the enthusiastic waiters are happy to impart their knowledge to clientele without making you feel like a total fool. Unlike some wine bars. They do have wine tasting events. These really cater to those who are students in the field.A nice offering of cheese & meat boards to compliment their wine selection that was really delicious. We heard about it & wanted to try it out. We were very pleased & will certainly return.
My bestie and I visited Corkbuzz after a Saturday night dinner as a place to have a few drinks and park ourselves for the evening. We wanted something fun but classy, and Corkbuzz delivered! We had SO MUCH FUN! They had great late night music playing, and it wasnt terribly busy for late on a Saturday night. Dorian was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly, and had great recommendations. Sean was also so gracious and friendly! I will definitely be returning! Highly recommend if youre looking for a classy wine bar with an excellent selection and knowledgeable staff!
I am a local and have been to both locations numerous times. Wine and food is terrific at both. Service at Chelsea Market is fair to good, while the 13th street location is abominable. By that I mean they go out of their way to behave rudely and entitled. No specific incident, just regular experience and observation. Tonight I spent more than $150 on two people at 5:30 pm and was inevitably sneered at.
My favorite wine bar in the Union Square area. They have a huge selection of things theyll pour you by the glass, and if you put yourselves in the staffs hands they will definitely treat you right. Ive been lavished with some wonderful glasses here by people who really knew how to listen closely and fulfill my wildest wine dreams.
Corkbuzz is a great little wine bar with a well-curated selection of interesting wines. Some varietals are familiar, others are more obscure. Friendly and knowledgeable staff help guide your selection. Food is delicious. Brussels sprouts and cheese selection are superb. Steak with bone marrow butter is rich and meaty; roasted bass with curry broth and spicy slaw is light and bright. Desserts are hard to resist but not standout. Had a fab meal.
Ive long been a fan of the Corkbuzz experience in both NYC locations, as well as the Charlotte outpost, but during the Covid-related closures and restrictions, Corkbuzz immediately switched gears and began offering online Zoom classes--taught by the excellent Somm/Beverage Director Ryan Totman; DipWSET Amber Rill; wine-famous guest speakers; and the one-and-only MS/Proprietor Laura Maniec-Fiorvanti. The virtual, hour-long classes are available daily and, as for as little as $10, may cover region, sub-region, varietal, viticulture, vinification, or something else entirely. Participation via Zoom is encouraged but not required; and the content can sometimes be advanced for a novice—but there is nothing covered that isn’t interesting to a true aficionado! And if you happen to be in the industry, preparing for exams, or are just THAT hardcore, go to Corkbuzz.com immediately and sign up ASAP.
I’ve never had a more negative experience dining out in New York as I have at Corkbuzz. Our server, Andrew M, was openly complaining and making fun of people at my table, to the maitre D, just 5 feet away from our table. We heard every word. It was rude, insulting, offensive, and by definition, harassment. We made regular drink/food requests and was not rude to anyone. I understand being a server can get hectic during peak hours, but handling a lot of drink orders is what the job calls for. I regret giving my business to Corkbuzz and will not advise anyone to do so, so this behavior is not encouraged.
A great place to drink a bottle (or two) of wine whether youre an expert or a novice when it comes to wine. The staff is very friendly and informative and will answer any questions you may have. Also, the desserts are to die for! We had a white chocolate pudding with Blueberry sauce that was amazing.
Ive been taking Corkbuzz classes remotely for the last several weeks on blind tasting and pairing and they have been so helpful. I am a level 1 sommelier through CMS, and Ive just been able to build off of my existing knowledge through the classes. Laura is a great instructor and provides great resources, examples, and exercises to illustrate concepts. Highly recommend!
Corkbuzz is the epitome of what I love most about dining out. It creates a cozy yet modern atmosphere, excellent food, a generous selections of wine, paired with wonderful service. Everyone in the restaurant is very knowledgeable about the food and wine served. I love shared style plates which allows me to order 5-6 different items to try - they are all out of this world delicious.
Have visited Corkbuzz several times and each time was a delight. The very knowledgeable servers steered me towards wines that beautifully enhanced the food we ordered. Fabulous Foie Gras, pork belly, potatoes & duck confit, beef cheeks, bone marrow...everything was fabulous. Love the atmosphere - have sat at both the convivial community tables as well as the two tops. Great selection of hard-to-find wines and unique gems with a story. Floor somms and waitstaff work well with both knowledgeable people and also those looking to learn more about wine, or just enjoy a glass or two Looking forward to a return visit!
Delicious wine and warm, friendly atmosphere. They need to expand the menu to include vegan options. The gluten free pasta was mushy and unappetizing. No reason an egg free pasta cant be included which, in my opinion, it better than egg pasta anyway. More vegetable entrees too!
After seeing the TV series Uncorked on Esquire Network we had to come try Corkbuzz. We came about 30 min before our reservation to grab a drink. We sat at the bar and were served by a lovely gentleman. We talked to him for about 30 min about his culinary background and his experience thus far in his hunt for the coveted sommelier certification. Really nice guy. He let us try some great wines and told us all about them. We were seated shortly after. We started off with the duck salumi and house ricotta. Both were great, especially the ricotta.Next we got the kale salad (it was very typical, not memorable), the beet salad (liked this, didnt love it though), the brussels (holy moly, incredible), and the bacon wrapped dates (yum). We got a bottle of white and red at the recommendation of our server (who was also a certified sommelier). Both were very good.
We were really looking forward to visiting Corkbuzz when visiting the city and it was a let down. The overall mood from the staff came off as negative as if they didnt want to working with one another. While the line was delicious, everything else was off-putting. Ended up being a Buzzkill.
Perfect wine place. Love interior and wines. They have great wines selection.Great place to drink wine. Opened by the youngest master sommelier in the United States. Due to the influence, we have a variety of selections, good for opening until late, a relaxing space, and a place where you can chat with friends while drinking wine. Spaces for baby showers and team events are also available, and after 9pm, champagne is 50% off.

2021-12-12Great BTG list. Nice champagne list. Unsure whether they still have retail price champagne promotion. Decent food.Don’t order any fish crudo, as the one I had a few months ago wasn’t fresh. The food I ordered 2 weeks ago (beef tartare, salads etc) were good. The staffs are knowledgeable and friendly.

2022-03-09Such a wonderful experience with Corkbuzz! We made a bridal shower for my future daughter in law this past weekend, and it could not have been better. Leading up to the event, Laura was informative, flexible and very responsive to work with, as was the manager, Preston. It was great to have the entire place to ourselves, and the food, drinks and the service were fantastic! The day of the party, there was Ryan, and another coordinator/server who made everything run perfectly smooth, we couldnt have asked for more! Highly recommend!

2022-04-03Absolutely everything at this restaurant is top-notch. Best to sample a whole bunch of dishes because each and every one of them is excellent. Service is completely understated but attentive, friendly, and adorable. The wine suggestions are always spot on and excellent. The atmosphere is casual but very chic.

2021-09-30Lovely place to visit with friends or a date night. The decor is warm and cozy. The staff is friendly, even gave my pup some water. Many selections of wines from different regions, my personal favorite being the skin contact. Cheeseboard and desert were quite scrumptious!!

2022-04-03We boldly went with the Three Blind Wines, which is a blind taste of 3 reds or 3 whites (your pick). We were told this is what sommeliers get and they fill out a sheet identifying the wine based on its color, density, smell, taste, aura, spirit animal etc. OK, maybe not the latter two, but you get the idea. This sheet was massive, and Im pretty proud to say we almost went the whole nine yards. In the end, the answers they revealed didnt really tell us if we identified the different attributes correctly -- they just told us the region and type of grape. (Thats a cautionary tale for anyone embarking on the blind taste test expecting to get answers to everything.)Besides the wine, food here was excellent. We didnt dine but shared a couple of apps. The housemade ricotta is delicious -- I highly recommend it. The fries were also very good (came with a generous amount of truffle oil), but the ricotta was on a whole different playing field.Apparently they are also known for their champagne selection. And Im told that champagnes are half off at some point in the night. Guess thats one more reason to come back.

2022-05-23Lovely space, and it is bigger than it looks from the front. Bartenders explain wine clearly and kindly, they didnt make me feel bad asking questions. Good selection and if wine isnt your thing, they have cocktails and mocktails available.

2022-01-27Very accommodating for two people with an hour before our reservation elsewhere. Normally wed sit at the bar but with that area full, the host gladly seated us in the dining room - not a shred of worry. Our waiter knew her wines, and the by-the-glass list (most under $20, with a few stellar choices higher than that) was stocked with a number of uncommon varietals - among others, Pelaverga, Donzhelino, Cinsaut (a favorite) as a rose - she was happy to discuss before pouring. Though we did not partake, the dinner menu looks amazing - and reasonable - and we will return for the full experience soon.

2019-09-10Excellent wine selection and great pairing with dinner. We hosted a business dinner and it was a great spot for food, discussion, and drinks. Its a lively and louder atmosphere but not too loud for a business dinner.Service was great and the staff explained quite a bit of detail about each wine and gave each individual at the table a recommended pairing with their dinner.Highly recommend.

2019-02-02I was invited to Corkbuzz by Black Girls Dine Too for an impromptu meetup with fellow Instagram followers and wine lovers to celebrate Black History Month. It was a very enjoyable and educational experience. The atmosphere is well-curated and the music is modern and urban (whatever that means). Pairing fine wines, delicious cheeses and charcuterie, and hip hop makes for an interesting experience for younger wine lovers, but, except for our table, there was otherwise no diversity to be seen on a Friday night (my reason for docking half a star). Also, this establishment, while classy, is not upscale, but the prices are on the higher end of the casual dining scale, considering. 6 of us split a $480 bill, but we had our fill of wines and cheese for about 3 hours. Some items were reduced to half off after 9, as well, so that helped alot. Our server, Ryan, was well-educated on our wines and attentive to our needs. He introduced me to a gorgeous 13 year old Reisling from Austria. We had fun and I would definitely consider returning again.
