Cosimos in other cities:
The food at this location is subpar compared to the other locations. I decided to give it another shot after the renovations. We sat down for a late lunch around 2:30 and ordered two drinks from the bar. After ordering the drinks the waitress came over to inform us that they got a large takeout order and wouldnt be able to serve us pizza for at least 45 minutes. We got up and left. How do you take a takeout order when you are unable to accommodate the patrons in your actually restaurant. This place is a joke. Never again
My family had such a wonderful dining experience this evening! Everything from the appetizers (waffles fries, meatballs) to entrees ( chicken parm, chicken Francese, harvest salad with chicken) and desserts ( carrot cake, lava cake) was absolute perfection. Billy, our server was warm, welcoming and highly efficient. ( and quick witted:) This was an all around delightful outing. We will be back!! Well done, Cosimos!!!
This Cosimos (Newburgh) is a very good spot, the only caveat is that they use just a bit too much oil on their pesto sandwich. Pesto plus fresh mozzarella plus a fried tomato is entirely too much oil altogether and leaves a bad taste. I removed the tomato and all was delicious, just a suggestion. Other than that, it was an excellent experience. Will be back again.
Haven’t been out to eat since pandemic, was excited to go last night to our favorite place to eat. Been a patron for many yearsWas very disappointed yesterday! Food was stale and tasted horrible. I know restaurants precook pasta and certain things but, this was bad. I had chicken Francese and it was horrible, hubby had chicken pizza and the chicken was dry and old my son had chicken parm and again he said doesn’t taste the same.Portion sizes have shrunk and prices have risen, it’s understandable they raise prices but portions were very much decreased. The only thing we enjoyed was the calamari appetizerVery disappointed
Ive been here a few times and food is usually good as well as service. Well recent visit ordered the shrimp & scallop pappardelle. $35 for this special plate. No lie came with 3 scallops and 3 shrimp. 2-3 oz of seafood on top of a handful of pasta for $35? Have no issue with money but that was a ripoff. Ive had better $17-22 dinners everywhere else. Too many places to eat at to give this place another visit. Dont waste your time.
Had my rehearsal dinner here and this is a classic Italian restaurant with excellent service and one of the best places to rent a private room for Anniversary, Wedding, Graduation, etc in the area. Decent price for the quality of service. Solid, absolutely classic Italian and Italian American dishes. Good wine.
This place is great! Seemed almost too nice for the reasonable prices and location - its like a high-end Italian restaurant went on vacation to the suburbs. They manage to be very classy and have excellent food while maintaining a friendly, casual atmosphere & charging very reasonable prices. Service was fantastic - attentive while never interrupting a conversation or making us feel rushed (even though we were there at closing time). Tesla Superchargers in one corner of the parking lot are very convenient if thats what youre driving. My only regret about Cosimos is that we were passing through town on our way home from a trip, so it will be a long time before I get to visit again.
Thank you for the amazing party. The staff handled everything. Luis was amazing and went above and beyond. This was the most stress free event of my life. I would not hesitate to host another event here!Thank you a million times over for the amazing food and customer service!
My wife and I love coming here. We have been here on many occasions for lunch and/or dinner and weve never been disappointed. The food is delicious, reasonably priced and great portions. The staff is kind, friendly and very professional. There is a warm feeling from when you first arrive and are greeted upon entrance. Major shout out to Erica. She always makes our experience so enjoyable. You cannot go wrong coming here.
I rate this restaurant a 2 would’ve loved to give it a 5 because the appetizers were Bomb ! and the entrees wasn’t bad . During our time here we started to place our entree meals when the waiters started moving tables around . I hear them say we can’t move them around we already seated them . (speaking about my guest and I ) so we continued to eat when two ladies came in and started to set up BABYSHOWER decorations while we eat and spoke around our food . The manager nor the waiters told us anything . It would’ve been lovely to be notified what was going on. Instead I had to call to speak to the manager she claimed she didn’t know but she did , so I was told... Anyways we weren’t offered a refund . Our bill was 80 dollars for two appetizers and one steak entree which I guess some would say isn’t bad. Instead we were offered a free desert for ONE . I should’ve never took the desert but i dislike problems, the waiter was really nice on the bright side left a nice tip . Not a pleasant experience at ALL .
Family and I went out for a birthday dinner. The entrees were great. The service was ok. Unfortunately, we ordered creme brulee for dessert not realizing that they put a shot of some kind of strong alcohol on it. My 13yr old tried theirs first and complained. I couldnt eat mine either. Thankfully, they took my childs away and got her a different one. Wish they have us a heads up about it. Especially before serving it to a minor.
Solid Italian food. The pastas Ive had havent been 100% traditional. The pasta with broccoli rabe and sausage sauce has a red tinge to it, which I dont believe is authentic, but I still like it. The Rigatoni alla Nonna has mozzarella in it, again, not what Im used to, but very good. Nice atmosphere, and very good service.
I have been eating at Cosimo’s with my family for 20 years. The staff are pleasant, the food is good, and the establishment is very clean. Everything on the menu is really good. I enjoy the Salmon, the pasta dishes, the salads, the burger, and the pizza. If you have a problem, they will do their best to please the customer. It’s a Family Business.
Only four because we do not try enough of the menu to be fair but what we do get repeatedly (calamari, Margarita pizza, coffee flavoured icecream on the molten lava cake, and the Brotherhood Vineyards reisling)is great. Had them cater a few years ago also and it was superb. Repeat customer. Five stars thus far based on what we usually get.
We eat here pretty frequently! We love everything from appetizers to desserts. You can’t go wrong stopping here. The staff are always friendly and the food and drinks are always great. We take out and eat in and are always satisfied! They always take great care of the customers!
My first impression of this place from two decades back was not thrilling, but recently I decided to give a try based on advice from family and I may have to reevaluate that thought. I had a Chukar dish on one occasion that was delish but still lacked body and then came back a week later for an off menu Shrimp Scampi that they actually do in pizza form that was also not bad and only because it lacked body also. I say that because I am used to rich French style sauces, so label me too picky if you will. Otherwise some staffing change is in order, but apparently that will take some Democrat(ic) movement in our Congress to change that!
Cosimos on Union is an old favorite BUT I only like going there if I can sit at the bar and the bar is always jammed. Sitting in the back room for some reason just ruins it for me. Maybe cause every seat back there is a bad one or because the lighting is bad or it feels like a you are eating in a cafeteria. IDK but whatever it is if you can get a seat at the bar its a great place to go. Great food and nice staff too. I think they should turn the place into one giant bar and I would eat there every night.
Yes was my first time here and its not that bad. I had the mozzarella fresca pizza. It was good the crust was nice when crispy. Only reason I didnt give it 4 stars was the service was just ok. We were seated and people after us received their bread and oil before us. And then we were asked if we would like some. The other tables it was just brought out with question. Also the server was my caught up talking with a friend and taking care of the dog she brought. I have no issue with the dog being there I just hope she changed her gloves before handling the plates being brought out.
Comfortable outdoor seating. Visit is limited to 90 minutes which is plenty of time. Food is delicious, staff is friendly and courteous. Seating is directly inside their parking lot and view is to the traffic on route 300 but who needs a view with food this good. Come with friends and loved ones so that the conversation, drinks, and food will delight you!!!
Beautiful outdoor dining under the grape arbor. Fantastic service and the food, as always, was delicious, well presented and ample. I had the tomato sandwich: fried crisp ripe tomato, with mozarella, prosciutto, and pesto with a tiny kick, on a toothsome baquette. Perfect lunch with its accompanying Caesar salad, or fries. I opted for salad. Very yummy. A couple the next table over were sipping sangrias that looked amazing. I was driving, so a carafe of water was my choice. Go to Cosimos.
Walked in tonight at 9:16 and was told we can’t be seated, online the restaurant says it closes at 10pm. When I mentioned the owners name Nicholas who I know personally they than said the website has the wrong hours. They did not even allow us to place an order to go. Unreal. Never will I come back sorry Nick.
I like to come here for lunch meetings occasionally with clients and the food and service is always great and never feel rushed. I wish I lived closer as this would be my go to place for a good meal. I truly appreciate a restaurant like cosmios that delivers a consistent product and I always know what I can expect when going here
The pasta, the salad, all the ingredients used are fresh and all the produce come from local hudson valley farms. The service is very good and its a place where families, couples, and friends can have an excellent meal; its vegan friendly too. I really enjoyed my meal.
I went on Monday, 1/4, for a birthday dinner with a couple friends, and my mom. We were at the Newburgh location, and Kintura was our server. The food was good, drinks were better, but what really made this experience 5 stars was the service. One of my friends is new to her food allergies, and had to be very careful about what she was ingesting. Kintura answered every question with ease, and was beyond accommodating when faced with questions she didnt have the answer to.We were a couple minutes late for a 745 table, and knew that with Gov. Cuomos orders we would need to be clean outta there by 10. Kintura wasnt pushy, and didnt rush us. The way she reminded us of the 10pm cutoff though was just professional and tasteful. All around, this girl made the mark and was fantastic. She had us laughing and joking together. She knew her menu, including gluten free options for food and drinks. It was phenomenal all around. Thank you for a great evening. :]Being in the service industry myself, and having had some off days here and there, it was BEYOND refreshing to have someone who cares, tends to, and goes the extra mile for their guests.
Great food, great atmosphere, and great customer service. Have also recently started using their online order and pickup service which has also been great! I am hooked on their Romano Chicken Chop Chop salad. One of the best Ive ever had. Their wood fired pizzas are also yummy!
We scheduled a retirement dinner here. We had a party of 19 and all of the food was great. All appetizers and dinners came out piping hot and exactly the way we ordered them. The staff were friendly and accommodating and our server was excellent and attentive. Highly recommend.
Great dining atmosphere with exceptional service. Food was decent but could have been better. That is, it lacked expected flavor. I ordered a southwest pizza. The pizza really did not have any southwest seasoning on it. It was, however, plated nicely. I would absolutely visit this restaurant again as other menu offerings are absolutely detectable (i.e. various pasta dishes and salads).
I have had Cosmos before and I absolutely loved it; however when I ordered the Grilled Chicken Penne as Ive done in the past, I bit into the worst chicken Ive ever tasted! I sent it back and the waiter said that the chicken penne is made in the morning. The chicken tasted old and disgusting, total false advertisement. Beware of the grilled chicken its more like “marinated for days old disgusting crap”! Save your $$$ you’ll have a better dinner warming up a Stouffers frozen dinner at home :(
The food was pretty good, but road to the parking and the actual parking is atrocious. Thats not their fault. Just a heads up though, people will run into the one way parking lot and take pictures for 5 minutes not allowing any cars to pass until theyre done. Here the trick though, when they start posing for a photo while impeding traffic, blink your high beams at them like you were in the discotheque in the 70s and immediately stop when you get an angry look and pretend it wasnt you. Theyll probably rotate 90 degrees but rinse and repeat. When they pose, hit the high beams like it was a joystick from the Mortal Kombat 3 arcade machine when youre cornered; when the dirty looks come, it wasnt you. Keep doing this until they move to an area so that you can drive pass.ProTip: these people typically park way too close in the parking spots. Since youve wasted this much time, get those extra irony laughs when no one can get into the driver side of the vehicle.Again, food was pretty good.
Every Cosimos I go to always has consistent meal quality. The brick oven pizzas are delicious. The wait staff is always prompt and friendly. Ive now been to the Poughkeepsie, Newburgh and Woodbury and each time Ive had a fantastic experience. This restaurant is easy to get to and has lots of seating. Theres even a Tesla Supercharger in the parking lot. You wont go wrong here
The waitress was bad. We didnt get enough place settings for the 6 of us. When she realized she only brought 3 said she would get more but didnt brought out 1 loaf of bread (5 slices) for six of us. We asked for cheese, salt, pepper, crushed pepper again only brought out 1 small container for 6 people and nothing to use to distribute it so we either had to use our fingers (pandemic going on) or our already used utensils. We ordered a drink after 15 minutes it never came we tried to then cancel it she said it was already made. She never came back with it when we asked again she said someone else must have took it....ummm! There was no social distancing between those tables at all. I could touch the table behind me which is why I will not be returning until Covid clears up. Shame on you Cosimos!
Hostess was nice and prompt, service was great, unfortunately the food was not to the level I expected. Lobster baguette was good, lobster was a bit over cooked, mushy. Ordered steak medium and it came over nearly rare had to send it back to get cooked a bit more and that doesnt normally turn out well. Butter that should of been melting on the steak was still a solid slice. It was a very bland tasting steak also. Pork dish was ok, somehow chunks of chicken made it into this dish, not sure how.
The atmosphere is really nice and the staff was pleasant and professional. The food was delicious with large portions. Everything we had was delicious. Being Italian myself, I can tell you they served authentic Italian food. The only thing stopping me from giving it five stars was a smell of mildew when you first walk in (where food is prepared) and at the bar. Mildew scares me because you can get really sick from it. The bathroom was nice but the floor couldve used some attention. In all, I would definitely come back.
Ive passed this place several times and always noted their parking lot was full. I took my better half for lunch the other day & found out why: The food is Good! We both had the specials and neither of us were disappointed! Service was quick and it was a fine lunch. Stop in.
I cannot say enough good things about your restaurant. For the 2nd time I met high school friends, from 50 years ago, at your restaurant. Your staff is patient, kind, friendly and attentive. We come from CT, PA, Putnam County, Westchester, Queens, Greene County. Lunch was delicious! We will be back in the Spring. Thank you!
They have a great menu and both locations are great. Newburgh seemed a bit more cramped and there is an echo in the main room so u hear other peoples conversations, but the food was delicious. I like the Poughkeepsie location better bc if u go alone, u can eat at the large spread out bar.
This cosmos is my review in Newburgh NY.Their food is awesome. I recommend to anyone! But i have to say today just to get seated I had to ask an employee what you have to do to get seated. My husband and I waited15 minutes till I asked that question. One hosted taking an order to for take out. One girl standing next to her looking around. She steps away. Then I ask for help to see when someone would take our names to get seated. Waited for the second hostess. Learned the girl standing next to the first hostess is the second hostess. Why make someone wait that so long. To take a name for tables. We went to wait at the bar the girl doesnt take our name. Wow. But on the other note. The bartender was awesome. The waitress awesome! Food awesome!
Recently I enjoyed a gluten free wood fired grilled eggplant pizza at Cosimo’s. While the gluten free crust is the same that I could get at any local pizza place , the wood fire really does kick it up a notch. I hope that Cosimo’s will do something to improve their gluten free pasta as it is barely acceptable. Our server, Janine, helped make our experience at Cosimo’s relaxing with her friendly, attentive manner.
Absolutely terrible! And....we didnt even get to eat! Went there with our two children and was told a 35 minute wait. We waited.....and waited and waited. Almost an hour and a half later, still hadnt sat down with visible empty tables available. Watched a waitress whos friends showed up and she squeezed them into an empty table in her section. The waiting area for seating is smack dab in front of the mens bathroom. Constantly moving to wait an hour and a half for your table. Needless to say, we left!
Eggplant Parmesan was not what I expected from an Italian restaurant with Cosimos alleged reputation. Soggy eggplant, very thin sauce with about a half inch of melted mozzarella cheese that was just warm and solid on top when it came out. Spaghetti was perfectly Al dente, so the side dish was better than the entree. Wish I had taken pictures
I dont get what the noise is about. Ive eaten here numerous times with friends and family. I have to say that as for my experience the food is pretty okay, mediocre at best. I dont know if there is a lack of amazing italian food that Newburgh once use to have so no one knows any better but the food here is not great. Its also ridiculously over priced for what it is. If it were extraordinary sure but its simply okay at best. The last 3 times Ive eaten here Ive also gotten sick to my stomach as have friends. It scares me to think what sort of Kitchen Nightmares is going on in the back of the house. I dont eat here unless Im invited to by someone.
If you want to go to a *real* restaurant, go to The Station in New Paltz. Cosimos is a complete joke on every level possible. It was my and my wifes anniversary today. I called 1.5 hours before for a reservation, and they told me to call back a half hour before and theyll hold a table. So I did that, and when I arrived a half hour later they told me that I had a 30 minute wait even though I called in advance. I do work for Cosimos at my store, and there is no way they would accept this service from me. They run the lousiest, non-communicative service (sorry if your staff cant understand big words) so maybe next time they need something from our store, Ill jack their prices for wasting our time. Both the manager and hostess were rude. If I get a call from the owner and a free meal, Id consider wasting my time by going there again, but never again will I recommend them to a living soul. Maybe the dead, because the dead people can wait. But dont lie to me and make me follow your rules, then break your own rules. Not to mention now Im eating my anniversary dinner at Fridays right down the road, and the servers are more polite, the food is debateably better, and I havent felt pushed aside since I entered. I hope Cosimos drowns in debt. I cant wait for the next time they ask our store for services. Ill triple the price for the inconvenience.
Good food, generous portions. I had a snapper in a Vera Cruz sauce with a Tuscany Pear salad made with arugula, yum! The snapper came with grilled Brussel sprouts which were a bit over cooked and creamy polenta which was delicious. The bread that comes at the beginning was olive with chunks of olives, very good bread.
Amazing food ..I highly recommend cosimos restaurant. The Italian food they serve is amazing and very tasty .my favorites are the fried calamari.chicken parmigiana with zitis in vodka sauce with mushrooms and sun dried tomatoes.👍👍👍👍👍I’m getting hungry just thinking about it
Entrance in an awkward place, very, very crowded tables, servers squeezing by to go out french doors behind your seat!!! And food is so so..I had the seafood diablo that had more cherry clams than Ive ever had in one dish for a cost of $21. Sorry but every thing was too expensive for little. Especially the portion of tiramisu for $9...
This place is hoppin. I have been coming here to original for many years. I love how they encourage green trsnsportation with Tesla charging stations close to the front entrance. HOWEVER, I drive a non-tesla electric vehicle...how about a charge for the rest of us?Every meal I have ever had here has been top notch. Flavors are great. Menu is diverse. Even the classics such as whatever Parmagiana and fried calamari are exceptional. The wait staff are friendly and appear to have superhuman stamina and patience.I recommend you add Cosimos to your short list of reliable, hip, and comfortable favorite eateries as I have.

2022-01-02This place was fantastic! Interior felt very cozy and service was very friendly. The food was also great. The pizzas are a great price for their portions, and I especially loved the ricotta on the broccoli pie. The white clam sauce pasta was also delicious. In addition, there are several electric car charging stations right in their parking area, which was very convenient.Would definitely love to come back again.

2022-05-19It was our first time to Cosimo’s since it had been newly renovated. We were seated by the new doors to the outside eating area. With no exaggeration, every 1-2 minutes wait staff went in and out and the door would make a loud long noise as it shut. It was very disturbing and made our dining experience very unpleasant. Then my food came and the juice looked like muddy water. The chicken was good but the juice made everything else taste bad. We usually have dessert but we couldn’t take the door noise anymore. The waitress was very attentive and pleasant so we left her a good tip. If we go back we will ask not to sit by the door.

2022-07-07Great! The food was great and decently fast as well. If Im being honest their bread is some of the best Ive ever tasted also.

2021-12-06Great experience, food, and staff! One of the better pizza and Italian joints in the area. And there are a lot!Had a figs and prosciutto flatbread pizza and it was delish. The server recommended to add peppers and it was just perfect!Still Covid aware, masks on the staff and barriers throughout the place. The restaurant wasnt too busy and easy for customers to spread out.Highly recommend!

2022-05-04Tried the rice balls and pork chops. The rice balls were like none I ever had before and they were AWESOME! Getting pork chop is always a risk, but this dish was cooked PERFECTLY and was very flavorful! Would definitely order both again but the food was so good, I will be returning to try something else. Don’t know who the chef is, but the food was amazing! Staff was super friendly and attentive!

2022-04-23Oh yeah! Been waiting for Cosimo’s to reopen after the renovations and they did not disappoint! The new look is absolutely awesome, gorgeous and sexy!My wife and I went this past Wednesday to sample the new atmosphere, drink menu and food selections. The new drink choices are creative and tasty! Not a lot of changes to the menu, but we did try the tuna tartare and the shrimp baguette and both were outstanding!!So glad Cosimo’s is back. And it’s better than ever.

2021-11-12Warm service and delicious eats.Even with a funky glass, the overall experience at Cosimos was delightful. What are the odds of having the only dirty cup out of five glasses? Regardless, the waiter was quick and apologetic about the situation. The cleanliness in general was far better than our previous restaurant blunder- just read the prior post regarding P & Gs in Newpaltz, NY. The bathrooms at Cosimos were clean and had fragrant soap. The extra attention to hygiene was appreciated. Unlike the other restaurant, the customer service here was welcoming and the water staff wore face masks. The energy was far more comfortable than our previous restaurant blunder. Further, our waiter was attentive and responsive towards the partys allergy concerns.I thoroughly enjoyed my eggplant and goat cheese sandwich. The ginger sald dressing was also pleasant. The party equally enjoyed their meal; from the spicy chicken fuscilli to eggplant parmigiano, the freshness and quality of the food were well received.Overall, thank you Cosimos for making our Fathers birthday better.

2022-05-06Very good Italian & Pizza restaurant that stays busy. I highly suggest reservations for the weekend especially. They closed temporarily to remodel, and are back open with slightly different hours while they finish the remodel. The truffle Flatbread is amazing. Best pizzas in the area.

2022-07-07Food was very good... staff was very friendly... everything was fine except we were outside and there were gnats all over.I dont blame the restaurant for this but just want to warn others you might want to eat inside.
