Country Peddlers in other cities:
It was just ok. Never had stopped and probably will not stop again. There were not a lot of options..empty places and a lot of marked down bakery items other odd and ends. I felt the prices were higher than other types of these businesses. The employees were pleasant..and no issues with the cleanliness of the place. Just an ok place
A small and quaint grocery store that also doubles as an ice cream shop. Giving it one star because the owner whose name is Bob does not wear a mask. Being around other people’s groceries and making ice cream whilst not covering his face, i find highly inappropriate during this time specifically. I have heard from former employees that it is extremely toxic to work here and that drives away employees. Overall overpriced and a toxic work environment.
I mainly come here for the gelato, ive cream, and pies, but theres a lot more in there than just that! They also have a nice selection of coffees, their baked goods are very good (especially the pies), and they have a fresh produce market and deli as well. The selection of deli meats and cheeses are great, and they have a lot of your Buffalo staples that you expect them to have, and maybe even a few surprises as well. The best way to learn about County Peddlers is to take a trip there, especially on a warm, summer night in WNY, and check out the awesome variety of ice cream. You wont be disappointed!
Good place around the corner when you need something quick. Occasionally have good sales. I frequent the clearance racks to get good deals. Ice cream is great. Deli Goods always fresh, good selection of Breads and rolls. Fruits and veggies are always fresh and have free samples. Always quick to check out. Prices overall are bit more than average. owner is very friendly and takes time to talk .
My wife and I went here for the first time today. I love locally owned stores and found this establishment charming. They seemed to have quality products. Happy so far with what we purchased. Had a delicious milkshake but I have 2 complaints. First was that for $5 it was on the small side. I still very much enjoyed it, just found it a bit pricey. My second complaint may seem silly but I have never experienced this before. I paid cash for the milkshake (after buying our other items inside) and was short 1 penny. I repeat...1 penny! She would not let this slide. I asked if she had a penny to which she just stared at me like I was I was out of my mind to ask such a thing. She then suggested I pay with a card. I suppose there may be some very strict rules regarding the register but as I said I have never had this happen. I have always been told that there was a penny or just not to worry about it. I have left pennies and other change many times and I dont see anything wrong with what I did. I feel like I was not valued as a customer and Im not sure if I would return because of it. Am I wrong to feel this way? I dont think so. If it was me waiting on a customer who was a penny short I would put it in myself. If I had no pennies in my pocket I wouldve made a point to find one, most likely in my car. May not return.
Really nice little place. Not a huge selection, but a quality selection. Little pricey on some items ($1 per lime) but the meats are good and the deli has a great selection of Boars Head products. Tons of ice cream options from the creamery as well. Will definitely go back.
My wife shops here all the time and I do on occasion. We have always found the prices to be right and the service to be quite good. I have never had a bad experience. For the size of store, there is a great butcher shop and bakery.I was forwarded a copy of a note that the owner is alleged to have sent to his employees with regard to time off. I will address it by saying that there is no way of knowing of anything on social media and that the note seems to be addressing a problem with attendance by his more youthful employees, hence the reference to school and parents. Remember, especially in employee/employer relations, there are two sides to every story.
While some items are priced higher then other stores, My family has had no issues with this stores products, The deli counter is well stocked and the meat always seems fresh.I noticed the reviews on how the employees are treated but who knows what the real motives are of those who post this. In the end most customers do not really care about this end...they care about price selection only.
Very nice little place with a variety of grocery store items. They have nice produce and a wide selection of coffees you can grind there. There is also an icecream shop that has a variety of icecream to purchase. It is a very nice place to stop for some specialty items as well as regular grocery items for the house.
I absolutely love it here! I came here to get ice cream a couple of times, then I went inside and they have everything. While the hub is eating ice cream with the kiddos,I grocery shop, when I go get my ice cream, he goes in and comes out with a grandfather clock. Who would have thought? Then we come back and get corn stalks, and straw bales, with cherry pepper cause why not?
Note that Im reviewing the deli and market only - I cant speak to the landscape side of the business as I have no experience with them in that capacity. That said, I like the market and deli quite a bit. A really nice selection of quality meats, cold cuts and cheeses (including Boars Head!) cut fresh to order. They make their own sausages in store as well - the chicken Italian is awesome! They make some really good pies in-house too.Their produce selection isnt a varied as a big store, but its all very fresh and hand-sorted, so youre not paying for bruised or damaged veggies or fruit - a nice touch.Store-made gelato, ice cream and ice cream cakes are a huge bonus if you have a sweet tooth... I highly recommend the Ghanduia flavor - its awesome. Its a family-run business, so you get the little extras that a supermarket just cant provide - well worth a visit if youre in the area.
Ive been coming to Country Peddlers for years now and I can say I find their staff to be stellar, kind and proffesional. They food choices are epic and outstanding. Im very excited when I see more and more locally made items on their shelvesDont get me started on the Deli Dept. Im a very spoiled, picky, complicated shopper and never once have I been disappointed with my made to order selections. This place is the best place ever! You come in for one thing and leave with a cart full.
Sign outside listed home grown apples for .69. Went inside and all apples were priced .89. I asked the clerk where were the .69 apples. He said that they are .89. I told him the sign said .69. He stated they should have changed the sign. He did not give me the advertised price. So theyre problem became mine, which prompted this review.
I shop at Country Peddlers quite often.I find it to be convenient to stop at on my way home from work.I have always been satisfied with products, price and service...until I visited the ice cream shoppe, yesterday.Personally, I feel there are too many choices. Although it is nice to have a variety, I find it to be somewhat confusing. The young girl waiting on me, was not very knowledgeable and, most definitely not fast. I ordered a small hot fudge sundae that she told me would be $5.88. I was aghast and questioned the amount. The whipped cream was $1.00 and the nuts were $ .79. A $3.99 sundae turned into an almost $6.00 treat. I told her to forget the whipped cream and nuts. When she gave me the sundae, it was the smallest sundae I had ever had. For $4.00 I expected something a bit bigger. In this area, where people have a lot of choices for their ice cream, you need to adjust your portions and prices. I could have gone to DQ, Fran Ceils, Andersons even McDonalds and would have gotten a sundae bigger than this.I was not the only customer that walked away unsatisfied.I decided that was my first and last time visiting your ice cream shoppe.
The owner is a friend to my grandparents, good service and product, don’t judge a small business and have it suffer based on the interaction and one sided story from a Facebook post. Employers have rules and if you are not able to handle them or want a more relaxed job go out and find a different one.
Family run business. Vegetable department, meat department, takeout food, subs etc.Garden department, trees, bushes, etc.Landscaping crews, lawn cutting crews, snow plowing crews.Every department is absolutely excellent. A place that will become regular in anyones shopping
If i could give this zero stars, I would. I just read a letter from the owner of the establishment. He treats his employees as if they owe him their entire life. This is modern America, and news flash, indentured servitude and slavery are no longer legal. Do not patronize this business. The owner DOES NOT deserve your money. Save it for another, worthy small business. Despicable.
I mean if you want to support a business owner that treats his employees like garbage and more like he owns them and not just the business then this is the place to go. Im absolutely disgusted by the recent letter put out by the owner to his employees. Yikes, what an absolutely horrendous way to treat your workers.
The one (and only) time I have ever been in this establishment, I witnessed the owner (Bob) yelling profanities at his teenage workers. He is an absolute monster, and is very disrespectful. Dont encourage his behavior with your money, there are plenty of competitors to choose from. He also refuses to allow employees to take less than a full week off at a time, because it is too inconvenient for him to actually schedule his employees. Boycott this business, spend your money somewhere that treats its employees with respect.
My grandma always brought me here since I was little and I still remember when they were still on Seneca street near caz park back then and only had produce(I cant believe the building is still there). Theyve since expanded into what and where Country Peddlers is now. They now have Cuba Cheese!!!! Its been a staple in my life all these years and it just keeps getting better and better!!! I hope it will be here for many years to come 😊
Aside from the store itself ( which I do think is very nice, however, I will now stop shopping there as well) their landscaping service is an absolute nightmare!!!! The owners husband as he was calling himself is by far the rudest, nastiest and just about the biggest jerk I have ever met in my life. He thought it was funny to completely cover me in grass and DIRT while was dressed in my business attire and heading to a meeting. He literally drove his ride on mower as close to me as possible while I was getting into my car to purposely cover me in the dirt. He was actually snickering while he was doing it. He is an absolute nasty person and doesnt deserve anyones business.

2022-02-19I have always loved this place! I buy my apples there every fall for pies, plus extra for eating. The prices for them cant be beat and there is usually a good variety. I also like to get a lot of my produce there, as it is fresher and tastes better. Worth the price, especially for the strawberries.

2022-07-09Have great memories of this place since childhood. Went back recently, and its just as great as I remember. Its a little grocery store - nothing as big as a Tops or Wegmans, but all the produce and food is much more local - you will find some of the freshest stuff here, and its all well-organized. Plus, there is an ice cream parlor attached to the place. Whats not to love?

2021-09-25Nice shop with fresh produce and baked goods. There was a girl at the deli with a camouflage hat I wasnt too pleased with, however. She berated her coworker, loudly, in front of myself and another customer and proceeded to call him stupid because he didnt hear her. If she cant be professional she should be re- trained. Otherwise, nice store.

2021-08-17Its the middle of fresh corn and produce season and the large marquis on the road at the entrance is advertising fresh corn. There is also a sign for home grown corn in the window.I pulled in and was greeted by a lone male teen employee in the store. No other employees and no customers in sight. I didnt see corn anywhere, so I asked him where it was. His answer: We dont sell it anymore. He pointed to some husked, shrink wrapped ears in the refrigerator.

2021-07-19I have never been to this place personally but after reading the reviews especially the one where the owner Is called out on social media for having absolutely normal Employee expectations and work ethic expectations.... I will make it a point to visit and make purchases tomorrow morning. . Im appalled that it was even necessary for him to have to distribute it in the first place. So bob if youre reading this, Ill see ya tomorrow and keep up the expectations or youll end up having to put in a cry room or comfy corner
