Clean, safe, modern hotel on the fringes of the Chelsea neighborhood. One block from Madison Square Garden, one more to Penn Station. Lots of (very) casual dining & fast food around, but I saw no real restaurants nearby. Granted, I did not ask the desk specifically for that as we always had dinner plans the 4 nights we were there. But in my strolls I didnt see any. Right across the street from a police station, so very safe, but no sirens, fortunately. The hotel itself (at 60% occupancy, the manager told me) felt pretty empty, so theres plenty of room. There are 3 fast, large elevators. The Marketplace was convenient though pricey. The breakfast area (closed during Covid) is large, nice, and features Starbucks coffee! Our room was adequately large enough for 3 people with 4 suitcases. Bathroom was good sized, good hot water, with a tub shower. Room had a refrigerator but no microwave, though the Marketplace sells some MWable items. Weird. Beds were very comfortable. And, there is daily maid service (rare during Covid).
I loved my time at courtyard Marriott/Chelsea. The room was cleaned and the staff were very nice and attentive to my needs. The shower stall was my fav. The water temp was awesome and clean towels provided daily. I would definitely stay there again! Keep up the good work!
The room was clean and comfortable. It was very small, particularly for the price. Noise from the hallway, and the adjoining rooms, was surprising. The door allows in way more noise from outside than one would assume. Many parts of the hotel were quite dated. The staff were polite and quick to answer any questions.
My boyfriend and I had a great time at this hotel! We were able to check in early with no issues. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Also very convenient spot for getting around. Highly recommend. The staff was so sweet and we were greeted everytime we came in
I will definitely return to this Marriott. The place is super clean, the bedding and bed fantastic, and the rooms have all you need for a short stay (fridge included!). But what really was delightful were the staff members. They were so friendly and really seemed to like people. Adriana and Sergio are just two who deserve special mention!
The rooms are okay for what you pay. Over the years I had stayed in many hotels but never experienced such a terrible policy like they have in this Marriott. I asked the front desk to store my luggage for a few hours so I wouldn’t have to carry it around the city and they said, they “don’t do that on Sundays”. How that make any sense? If you are looking to have a pleasant experience in NYC, you might be better staying in a hotel with people with common sense. One of the reasons that I chose this particular Marriott was it’s strategic location next to the transport hub, but what good can it be if they won’t even hold the luggages for you?
Great location, near Penn Station and Herald Square. Room was great, good sized bathroom, had mini fridge. Hotel was well maintained. Only negative might be the Starbucks inside the hotel wasn’t open. But I’m assuming that’s d/t COVID. Otherwise great place to get some rest after exploring NYC all day! Would definitely stay again.
I went for a business trip. I work in that area and due the pandemic I don’t want to take public transport. The hotel is very well located, rooms are clean, quiet but small ( this is Manhattan ). I will definitely stay there again. Restaurant is still close but you have plenty of choices around.
This is a belated review but Im writing about an extremely poor and downright inexcusable experience I had over Memorial Day Weekend 2021. The tldr is that over the long holiday weekend, my party arrived with a reservation, but was turned away due to because the hotel wasnt even open, and wasnt even given an alternative hotel to go to. . Marriott Chelsea Manhattan falsely portrayed themselves as an open business ready to host travelers, however, upon arrival we were promptly told that the hotel was closed and unable to provide any services. Without helping us find a new reservation, Marriott Chelsea Manhattan essentially left us stranded without a hotel. My party had reservations at this hotel for 2 nights, and we arrived around 10-11pm. The hotel was dead quiet and the door locked - but an asset protection/security officer let us in and told us that the hotel wasnt even open. Immediately were confused by the locked doors and signs posted on the door indicating the hotel’s closure. We were quite confused, as we clearly had made reservations online and were not notified of any issues or status changes. After a couple moments, a man dressed in casual clothes, who self-described as “risk management” arrived and let us into the hotel lobby. He apologized that the hotel was closed, saying something along the lines that Marriott “didn’t get the necessary papers in time”. He handed us a piece of paper, along with two options:1. If we went to a second hotel, they would “honor our reservation” and let us have the same stay we would have gotten at Marriott2. Call a number they provided from Expedia, which they called the “relocation number for immediate assistance”This second hotel we then called and checked with them - the second hotel said there was no communication about this and were quite confused, as there was no deal to honor our reservation. We also called Marriott, who refused to transfer our reservation (mainly because our reservation was through Expedia). After over 3 hours of standing and talking with Customer Service, we were left stranded in rainy New York City in the middle of a busy holiday weekend. Also note, that we were not the only ones that were stranded during this time - during our extremely taxing and stressful time calling to find a new hotel, at least one other party also arrived only to be turned away as well. In the end, both options were fruitless because Expedia was never informed that the hotel was closed so the relocation number for immediate assistance was just as confused as we were.Management was completely absent from the picture and never once thought to reach out about this extremely negative and downright ridiculous move. If the hotel was going to not be open, the hotel management needs to actually communicate that to people that have reserved nights, along with any third-party sites the hotel takes reservations through. Marriott Chelsea Manhattan had over a month from our initial booking to cancel our reservation and give us advance notice of the closure, but instead did not provide us with any emails or communications. The issue was, aside from the “risk management” security guard, there is literally no one in the hotel. Not a single worker at the front desk, no managers, absolutely no one to call. Because the hotel was closed. And the fact that Expedia did not have the closure on file confirms that Marriott Chelsea Manhattan failed to communicate to booking agencies and other online services of their closure - falsely listing services and rooms that were not actually available.I will never be staying at a Marriott chain from now on - they have lost my trust and it has become quite apparent that the management at this particular hotel was extremely short-sighted and did not actually think of their customers.
This is a somewhat underwhelming stay. It served our purpose for a one night quick visit. I would not recommend it for anything longer. The location does not have breakfast - and they dont do anything to make up for it (points etc.) The associated parking location requires validation - which no one tells you at check in or check out, so you end up paying more. Its leanly staffed with limited communication.
The Hotel is new, rooms have a good size and beds are super comfortable. Standard decoration. Good shower, amenities, wi-fi, staff, and quick elevators. The lack of luggage storage (due to Covid) was a negative point.Localization isnt beautiful but it is super OK. Many options of shopping and public transportation around.
Very small room. Would be fine for a single traveler. Had to squeeze around our luggage on the floor. Drinks left in Frig from prior guest made me question overall cleanliness. Restaurant and Starbucks in lobby were not open. Usual enjoy Marriott, but this was not up to par.
No luggage service provided… which was ridiculously inconvenient in NYC. We spent a good amount of time looking for luggage services and had to walk all of our luggage over… a pain in the butt The hotel is on the same street as police station, but we kept seeing people laying around… but I guess maybe it’s a NYC thing? The elevators are slow, room is on the older, smaller end. Bed was comfortable though and it was clean overall. Staff were nice
Unfortunately every team member (minus the lovely lady who serviced my room the first two days) lacked any welcoming. Not a single smile or ‘good morning / how are you’ during my entire stay that wasn’t initiated by me. I was too scared to even ask for a plate or wine glass for my room due to the unwelcoming nature of the team members. Asking for my sheets to be changed on the third day resulted in a grunt and returning to find my sheets not even tucked into the bed. I understand the hotel is 3 star, and I don’t expect frills, but a smile is free. And I’ve never felt more uncomfortable during a hotel stay. The gym requires a yoga mat to be complete.
The location of this hotel is very good indeed. Safety and security around the hotel is guaranteed as the hotel is across the street from NYPD.I would have given this hotel a better, more approving review had the staff not deactivated our card keys before our extended checkout time and had breakfast been provided as advertised on Expedia.
As a guest I had never been denied the courtesy of holding my luggage for a few hours. Not even in more simple hotels. This time the hotel refuse to hold my luggage a for a few hours. I consequences I had to walk around all over Manhattan with my luggage. This was uncomfortable at the very least. I am still shock that Courtyard has such a low standards in terms of hospitality.
Room was good and clean, no food service but i guess is due to covid.Front desk needs to better trained and manger should be instructed to return voicemail from customers. They incorrectly informed that the parking would cost 50/usd per night. When i went to pick up my car they said was 50/per 24 hs and i end up paying a 100 as i pass about 1 hour… If i knew it i would have probably just taken my car before. I tried to speak with front desk that said it couldn’t do anything and manager didn’t pick up the phone. I left voicemail and got no return…
A security team member entered my room at 600 and accused me of tampering with the fire alarm system. He did so with minimal warning (a single call which I wasnt able to get in time, followed by two knocks which was not enough time to get to the door). He acted really awkwardly and gave only a cursory look at the alarms before leaving the room. When I went downstairs to ask the front desk member if this person was even an employee, the security team member appeared and began berating me for complaining about his keeping me safe, blaming me for not answering the phone in time, and accusing me of lying. As a human, much less a titanium member, I was shocked by this. I reported this to Marriot corporate as well as to the NYPD crime prevention officer. This was either incredibly sloppy and rude by the staff or an attempted robbery / larceny. Im honestly still not sure which.
The hotel is a bit outdated but very clean. Lobby is tiny and seating area / tables with TVs is actually in the back. For COVID there is no breakfast or restaurant. Got upgraded to a family suite (separate bedroom and seating area/sofabed) on the 20th floor (next to the top floor) where there is a skyline window in the bedroom and sitting room. It was a bit bright for the bedroom - just in case you wanted a family suite (not sure if any without the skyline window).
This hotel feels fairly new with a basic modern and contemporary decor. The gentleman at check-in was welcoming as well as other front desk staff any time we returned to the property. We saw the same housekeeper each day and she was friendly as well. Our room was on the 19th floor. Nice city view. The room size was slightly smaller than the average room, but this is the case with most NYC budget brands. Our bathroom was a comfortable size with a shower that included plenty of shelf space. The decor was soothing with two light options. The room had an adequate amount of storage, modern TV, refrigerator, and safe. The windows were floor to ceiling, which allowed a lot of light. At the time of this writing, the cafe was closed, however, guests were allowed to use the seating area which included counter space, tables, and booths. If you’re looking to exercise like me, the fitness center is small and located in the basement. They have mirrors throughout to make the room appear larger. There’s a mix of treadmills, elliptical, and one bike. You’ll also find two mats, a roller (needs to be replaced), and free weights. They have towels and water available.I have to say the WiFi was great throughout, even in the fitness center. When I return to NYC at some point, I’ll definitely stay here again.
Check-in was fast and efficient. The staff was always professional and friendly, always greeting us with a smile each and every time we leave/enter the hotel lobby. Location was great, close to everything. The bed/pillow was super comfortable and the bathroom toiletries were spa quality. We stayed here over the July 4th weekend and it definitely made our stay very memorable. We will definitely stay here again every time were in NYC. *Note to hotel security - one of the evenings as we arrived back to the hotel, there were 3 people who I thought were trying to enter the hotel lobby but couldnt since the hotel requires a key card. They watched us the whole time and must have been trying to sneak in. I highly recommend that staff should be in the lobby/front desk at all times, in case nonguest tries to enter, as unassuming hotel guests open the door.
Worst stay. They have BED BUGS and wont own up to it. My whole family and I have bites all over AND found bugs on the bed and the manager said the inspectors didnt find anything, they didnt find a bug to inspect. Then I talked to Marriott claims department and they said they had inspected the bug and it came back negative. Their stories dont line up and Daisy Capifali from the Claims Services was very rude. Go somewhere else. This is not worth your time.
I’ve been staying at this Courtyard by Marriott since they opened. The hotel is impeccably kept, you can tell they are committed to keeping the hotel clean & new. The staff is outstanding- will help you with anything- warm & friendly. The rooms are compact , but luxurious & comfortable- especially the beds. There are a lot of great amenities as well- a quaint Starbucks in the lobby as well as a mini fridge & sink in the room. This is an excellent hotel - the lobby has an excellent area for meeting clients or friends- as well as a place to unwind or catch up on work. Once you discover this hotel, you will stay here time & time again.
Everything was perfect. The staff was efficient and friendly. Our room was clean and cozy. The hotel is in a great location. I also lost some items with sentimental value when we were checking out and they were located and shipped back to me. Will definitely stay at this hotel again!
One of the best hotel staffs anywhere - first class - amazingly friendly and accommodating. Good location of this well appointed hotel. Our small suite worked fine for our adult children with their two kids. However, our regular room was very small and had extremely poor closet and other storage space. We loved this place because of the staff; cleanliness and location of the hotel. However, Id have to say it was not wonderful value based on room size.
I dont travel a lot, and this was my first time to New York. Check in was a breeze, and the room was super comfortable. The bathroom was a little small for me. We ate at the breakfast cafe every day, but never used the other restaurant as we had trouble figuring out the menu /times it was open. There was also no room service offered, but the hotel is located in a great location to go shopping and out to eat so it wasnt too much of a problem. All the staff were friendly and very understanding when we had questions.
Check in was quick. Staff were courteous and helpful. Both room and bathroom were clean. Bed was comfortable with plenty of pillows. Room could have been slightly bigger for a king room. The shower was great. Great Location, close to Penn Station, restaraunts and walking distance of shops and attractions. There was some traffic noise, but what do you expect in NYC. It wasnt too bad. A kettle in the toom would be good. Did not dine st the hotel. I would stay here again.Stayed in September 2019
Our stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Chelsea was punctuated by amazing service from the front desk staff. Getting us into our room early so that we could explore The City was amazing. The room itself was relaxing, clean and fresh. We were very happy with every aspect of our stay, and would handily recommend the property based on those facts alone. The location downtown just tops it all off. Very, Very Happy.
Great location, walking distance to majority of places of interest in Manhattan with nearby access to several subway lines too. Our deluxe room was spacious and well equipped, and very clean. Comfortable bed. Service was unfailingly friendly and efficient. Breakfast cafe served good coffee and sweet breakfast options but maybe a few more savoury choices would be good.Overall a fantastic base for a leisure trip, which I recommend highly.
The hotel is in a prime walking location for a host of sights in Manhattan. My first day was spent foraying into the city, south to the Freedom Tower and north to Central Park. It was convenient to be able to rest at the hotel between excursions and the staff was very friendly. I rented a single queen room and found it to be comfortable, but fairly average. The room was not spacious, which caused the layout to suffer some. For example, when the wardrobe was open it was impossible to walk across the room (the wardrobe door opened flush to the bed). The bathroom was simple, but fully functional. I found the water pressure to be consistent and pleasing. The shower head was adjustable and I never ran out of hot water. The shampoo did make my scalp tingle/burn, so if you have sensitive skin keep that in mind. Overall, I was very pleased and would stay here again.
My 3 girlfriends and I spent 4 nights at the Courtyard Chelsea celebrating my 50th birthday. We reserved a family suite (2020) and loved it! The location was great! So close to great shopping, restaurants and public transportation. From our room, we had a nice view of the Freedom Tower in the distance. The room was cool, comfortable and spacious! The beds were wonderful! The seating area in the family room left a little to be desired. A nice sofa/love seat would be more accommodating for 4 adults. The elevators were super fast. We never had to wait for one. The staff was great! Super friendly, knowledgeable, and kind. We ate in the bar/restaurant next door and had good food. We sat outside at the tables in front of the hotel on several occasions and enjoyed watching the crowds of people. Ill definitely consider staying here again when I come back to NYC.
Fantastic location near Penn Station and mid town. The room was much larger than expected in this part of town and great value. Modern decor and up to date styling in a light and relatively spacious room. Not luxury but a very comfortable and calming space. Friendly, efficient staff and quick check in/check out. Will definitely stay again.
Staff didn’t an excellent job of accommodating a surprise NYC trip for my husband. We travel regularly and not all hotels work to upgrade our room due to our platinum status but this time Adrianne at the front desk went over and above to find us an excellent room making our surprise trip even better. Even housekeeping was friendly and double checked with us to make sure our room was cleaned the way we wanted. Excellent service which to me is key.
My family stayed here in August and had a great time. We would have liked to check in earlier but we were able to leave our bags there which was super convenient! The rooms are rather small but gorgeous and clean. The soaps are amazing and it is just a super comfortable place to stay! We had a relaxing time and a great view!!! If you book early then you will be able to get a good discount
We have stayed at this hotel in the past and would definitely stay here again. It meets the expectations you would expect from a Marriott property. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. The price was very reasonable for NYC. I was very impressed with the fact that upon check out you can leave your bags there and go back and pick them up later in the day. That is very helpful not to have to carry your bags around the city.
Booked Courtyard based on recommendations from family and also from TripAdvisor reviews. Brilliant location, 2 minutes from Penn Station. Several cafes, bars and restaurants on your door step. Room was small but adequate for our family of four. It was clean and housekeeping was excellent. No problem checking in early and we were able to leave our luggage at the hotel on the day of checking out. I was surprised how quiet our room was on the 6th floor. Would definitely stay again at his hotel but maybe ask for a family room if going with 2 teenage boys!!
For the cost, this hotel is unbeatable for the Penn Station/Chelsea/Herald Square area. In fact, its excellent for any midtown Manhattan needs...and Ive stayed in NYC often. It is a beautifully designed hotel, with a lovely lobby/meeting area (room behind the check in desk) small but attractive room with comfortable bed , and best of al, GREAT staff! Every single employee was fantastic and sincere--no, just doing my job indifference or fake pleasantries. Separately and as a team, they were interested in providing a great stay!Breakfast is not included in the price (nor at any Courtyard hotel as far as i know) but the hot espresso drinks were reasonably priced and well made. (I didnt try the food but it looked fine). Service here, as in the hotel overall, was excellent and the helpful friendly small staff made for a great way to start the day. There is a small refrigerator, but no microwave, in the room.
Enjoyed my stay here, checked in really late and the staff was courteous and helpful even at the late hour. We got lucky with an upgraded suite on the top floor. We chose the $10 beverage daily credit and it was a better option for us. The rooms were clean and the bathroom was very spacious. Plenty of space to relax with an extremely generous view of the city. The beds are really comfortable. My only complaint is that there are random building noises in the evening which I can see as an issue for any light sleepers. Great place centrally located near Korea Town to alot of great restaurants. I would stay here again!
This was our second stay at this particular hotel. We were moving my son into college at The Fashion Institute of Technology, and this hotel was very close to the campus. The staff here were super attentive and nice. I asked for extra towels on multiple occasions, and they were brought up very quickly. I was upgraded to a suite, and the room was very clean and spacious, especially for NYC. I will definitely be staying here again when we come and visit our son.
This hotel is located on a quiet street just 1/2 block from the worldwind of 7th Street/Fashion Ave. and Madison Square Garden - Penn Station. Couldnt be more perfectly situated. This was our first trip to the Big Apple and found this hotel and location to be the easiest of locations for everything. The hotel itself is quaint and extremely welcoming. The common areas are so casual and comfortable. We stayed in one of the Suites and it was spacious and more than expected. The bathroom with a full view of NYC was incredible. The beds are amazing and so was water pressure. All the staff was more than gracious and we come from southern hospitality so we werent sure what to expect. Above and beyond! You cannot go wrong with this hotel and it comes with a reasonable price tag but dont let that fool you. Its a great find... you will enjoy your stay.
This hotel was a great choice for us. The room was a reasonable size and very clean. The bathrooms were pretty well designed with a great shower. The housekeeping staff were exemplary. The only small problem we had was the safe didnt work when we checked in. The security person arrived promptly and replaced the batteries. No problems after that. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast bar was overall very good. It did not quite fit my personal diet, but I still found items that worked. The breakfast bar staff were also standouts in service and friendliness.
Excellent customer service. The suites are affordable and good for families. The suite had a separate bedroom. Bathroom was adjacent to the sitting / living room (no need to walk through bedroom to navigate to bathroom). There was an empty mini fridge (good) and wet bar with sink and ample counter space. I will definitely stay here again with my toddler and husband on our next trip to NYC!
Excellent place to stay for a visit to midtown NY! Hotel has a small but lovely lobby. Rooms are a very good size for NYC and had a coffeemaker and coffee (alas, no tea provided in room). our 1 BR suite was roomy, with our shower in a separate room from the toilet/sink--very nice. Bed was very comfy. We had city views from the Living Room and from the bedroom. Room was clean, attractive and well-equipped. Staff was very welcoming. Great stay!
Shirley and Sandy work at the front desk and are so nice and are always smiling. Every hotel needs these two! As soon as I walked in I recognized Shirley from my last visit which was months ago and after talking for a min she remembered me as well which makes you feel right at home. They both made sure I had everything I needed during my stay and even called my room after I had checked in to make sure everything was right. The room was a little bigger than the typical NYC room. The rest of the staff is friendly too and always saying hi and good morning. The gym is small but has what you need to get the job done including treadmills, bikes and weights. The hotel is clean and has a breakfast bar in it as well as a restaurant attached to it that has good food as well. The location of the hotel is close to Penn Station which is nice and of course MSG. Good food is close by including Fresh & Co which is on the corner half a block away. Citibike racks are nearby as well which can help you get around the city quicker than walking if you are on a deadline. Starbucks is also very close. Ill be staying here again very soon because of Shirley and Sandy for sure!
I stayed at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Chelsea because I didnt want to stay in the host hotel for NYFW. I was very pleased with the courteous staff, especially the maid service. The rooms are not as spacious as I would have liked however, it was NY and that is expected. The overall accommodations were very good. Walking distance to EVERYTHING, including the Garden, Penn Station, Empire State Building, Broadway and Time Square. It is not the last trip I will make to this location. I live in Virginia and now that I have experienced the convenience of coming to NY on the train and taking in events, I will surely return! Oh, and did I mention, the gym is good as well.
We picked the Courtyard Marriott/Chelsea for proximity to Penn Station and found it to be GREAT! A couple of block walk to a really modern hotel. Rooms were clean, staff was EXCELLENT and it provided a better experience then wed hoped for. The individual temperature control in the room kept us very comfortable at the level we wanted. The hotel provided very nice Paul Mitchell Tea Tree products (very large sized mounted bottles in shower of shampoo, conditioner and body wash) which were welcome surprise. All of our needs were met!
I was hoping for so much more from this hotel. The decor in the hotel corridors seems to be from the 1970s. Air conditioning unit in the bedroom was incredibly noisy throughout the nights we stayed, keeping us awake.Front desk staff member very rude and had no interest in helping our query. On the plus, the room was nice, lobby was modern and mostly the staff were welcoming and helpful. From what I saw the hotel was clean. Location was excellent.
Located just two blocks from the Penn Station and within walking distance to Times Square, Empire State Building and others points of interests. The NYPD is located just across the street from the hotel entrance. Check in was a breeze and the staff is pleasant and easy to communicate with. Our room was super clean and the beds were top notch in comfort. They are only double beds however, so you have to pretend that you like each other a little more when staying overnight in the same bed. The bathroom was clean with good water pressure even on the 8th floor. We couldnt hear any of the other guests around us from inside our room during the stay. Wifi service was free and our devices had no issues with slow or dropped connections.
Hotel: basic but good. Small lobby, ample breakfast/dining room area, quiet. Horrible strong smell of Jasmine scent all over the lobby, breakfast, elevator areas.Location: excellent, near Penn Station and Madison Square Garden but on a quiet street. If you take Express Service on subway, they always stop at Penn Station, and of course all the local trains stop there too.Room: large for NYC, bathroom huge (we had a handicapped accessible room). Very little storage in the bathroom for toiletries. Had trouble making/answering cell phone calls in room, even wifi calls.Service: good. Small issues promptly and efficiently dealt with.
This was a great hotel. My family has talked about a trip to NYC for years and finally took a trip over spring break. This was a great experience. The staff was wonderful. The hotel clean and conveniently located to the attractions we wanted to see. We were a couple blocks away from Time Square, which was nice to get away from and relax in the evening. This hotel is located across the street from a police stations, we felt completely safe the entire time. This hotel is also close to Penn Station, convenient for traveling to the city. The staff was great about storing our bags when we came in before check-in, and after check-out of the hotel, so we could continue to site see before our bus departed. The staff was professional, friendly and always willing to help. For our next rip to New York City, we will absolutely consider staying at this hotel.
A nice celan hotel, nicely dekorated and good location close to the sub. The room was rather small but quiet, aircon working. The breakfast was good for the money, cosy breakfast-area and the breakfast-staff was really nice and helpful. The front-desk staff had not very service-minded attitude and I felt more like disturbing them the times I had to turn to them. The last days of our stay, there was far too much waiting time for the elevators.
Stayed here on a recent business trip. Room was quite comfortable, a little smaller than I wouldve like, but the bed was relaxing, noise level was tolerable, given that it was New York City. The bathroom was nice and cleaned and the shower was good. Only thing I had issue with was the lack of a hotel directory/welcome book explaining some the hotels amenities. It would have been nice to know that there is only one ice machine in the hotel and its on the basement floor, right next to the fitness center and the laundry, which I didnt know were there. Other than that small detail, hotel was nice & clean. The staff was wonderful and I wouldnt mind staying here again.
The staff was so great at this hotel. The bell men were so friendly and kind. One went out of his way to try to flag a cab for us for 30 minutes during rush hour. Also, Ive never encountered at any marriot (and I stay at a lot of Marriotts) staff that were as friendly and attentive as your cafe staff. They made going down to breakfast every morning a real joy. I really really enjoyed the staff at this marriot and even though the rooms are small, I will stay there again. Also the gym was much better than the normal gym offered at a courtyard.
I was extremely pleased with the friendly staff at the Marriott Courtyard Chelsea and in particular with Marrissa Castro. Marrissa went out of her way to be friendly and make out four day stay a pleasant experience. As an Elite rewards customer I was given an room upgrade. The upgrade was fantastic to family studio was fantastic and the view out the window was great. The concierge at the desk in the afternoon also needs to be commended. He answered my many questions about the city and was very helpful in making our trip to New York enjoyable. Whenever I return to NYC, I will definitely be staying at the Chelsea Courtyard. I would definitely say the both hotel and the staff exceeded my expectations.
I stayed at the Marriott for 3 nights with a large group to visit the Peloton studio on 23rd street. Its convenient to Penn Station - I was able to roll my suitcase back and forth to the hotel with ease. The hotel was very nice, and I loved the Starbucks on premises. I was able to work from a booth, watch a personal tv, and charge my phone and eat at the same time. Deweys, the adjoining bar, was a great meeting place for our group. The service overall was great. I would stay here again.
Initial check in was fast. Staff were polite and courteous and the air conditioning was very welcome. The rooms were immaculately clean and fresh smelling. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was large and powerful. We didnt stop for breakfast but I noticed the restaurant was well decorated and had comfortable settings. The air conditioning was excellent as we are not accustomed to the heat New York generates during the summer months, having travelled from Ireland. We also loved the decor and the shower was very impressive. A very modern & spacious look.We also stayed in the Marriott in Washinton DC, Georgetown, and while we also had an excellent experience there as well, the decor & security lacked in comparison to the Marriott Courtyard, Chelsea. Also, the internet service was available in my room, free to use, unlike the Washington hotel. Also, we were impressed with the security i.e. the room key needs to be swiped in the lift to get to your floor. This is important to help prevent burglaries/room invasion.Another important point is it is very near to Penn Station on W34th Street which has a direct link to JFK airport and is near to a lot of the attractions NY has to offer.Overall, we were very pleased with our stay and would definitely recommend your hotel to others.
We booked a Larger Guest Room King Bed and when we got to the room, we thought it was a mistake because the room was so small. However, the room was efficient and roomy enough for two adults and one 12 year old. Luckily the small sofa was a full size pull-out sleeper sofa and she was content sleeping in it. Even though we were staying directly across the police station with a dozen NYPD cars/trucks parked, we didnt feel safer than staying at any other place we had stayed in NYC. The wifi was secure and strong and that is always a plus. Bed was comfortable and clean. We all also thought the bathroom was very small. It would be nice if there was a vent switch to provide a little more privacy when people do their business. Cafe downstairs was adequate with the morning essentials for getting our day started and having Fresh & Co right at the corner, it was perfect for breakfast also. Within 3-4 minutes walking distance to Madison Square Garden, it was perfect for seeing Pitbull & Enrique in concert. Within 5 mins of walking distance from Penn Station, we were able to quickly arrive and get to our hotel/leave the hotel. Staff was friendly always and they always said have a good day or have a nice day when we left the building which was very pleasant. Staff answered all my questions when I checked in and assisted me efficiently when I checked out and answered my questions again then. I would stay here again for the location and nearby places but will probably book a bigger room. Can you include the square footage on your website? That would be very helpful.
I had to find a hotel near my daughter living in NY. This little gem was the perfect place. Small rooms, welcome to NY, but clean and nice. The bistro area was tasteful and looked inviting. I never used it, but was well received by the other guests. The staff was so helpful and went out of their way to help me find my way. Everyone was happy and that is one of the reasons I stay in Marriotts. I usually stay in JWs or Marriotts, but this is my second Courtyard and I am very happy with them. Newly decorated and very tasteful, quiet, everything I need.
This property is in a great location and is a wonderful place to stay if you need a room in the area. Within a few blocks in any direction there are many restaurants and shops...whatever your needs may be, you will find it...including a police station across the street. This hotels staff is to be commended for their friendly, helpful demeanor...it made for a pleasant stay.I never heard any street noise, the bed was comfy and provided a good nights rest. I was most impress by the cleanliness...no stray hairs or little pieces of debris anywhere. The housekeeping staff are obviously dedicated, hard working and take pride in the job they do. I hope management appreciates their efforts because guests certainly do.
I had stayed at this hotel during last Christmas holiday. The location was perfect. Lots of restaurants & mart nearby. They upgraded my room as a titanium elite member benefit, and the room was pretty big. Breakfast was also good with $10x2 welcome gift per night. Awesome. My family want to stay at this hotel whenever we visit NYC. Perfect hotel for any season.
Stayed here with my family. The room was clean. The bathroom was a good size and toilet and showers worked well. Staff was very friendly and helped with everything we needed promptly. Great location for sightseeing and easy walk to subways and train station. Lobby area was very nice with indoor and outdoor tables/ seating. Breakfast in lobby was very expensive for the quality so I would recommend finding a place for breakfast nearby instead,
The Courtyard Marriott on 30th Street is a terrific hotel. The staff are very friendly, and the hotel is very clean, well maintained and super convenient in terms of location (right near Penn Station). The rooms are well designed and comfortable (and seem a little larger than some other nearby hotels rooms that are like shoeboxes); the bathroom is a good size as is the shower. I love that theres a refrigerator in each room as well. Also, in terms of the little details, the toiletries provided are really nice--good shampoo and nice hand lotion. I highly recommend staying here on your next trip to the Chelsea area!
This is a wonderful hotel! We were in town for the US Open, and this hotel was nicely located, close to the subway. Our room was extremely clean and the bed very comfy! The staff was terrific, from the person who serviced our room to the friendly desk crew. Best of all, the breakfast staff was amazing. They greeted me every morning with smiles and made me feel really special--and the latte was the best Ive every had! I left for the day of tennis happy and ready for the day!!This hotel is very special!!
I have stayed at this same hotel in the past and have been pleased. The facility is clean, comfortable & nicely decorated. The staff is friendly. The hotel is quiet (no street noise). It is located close to Penn Station/Madison Square Garden. I reserved two rooms 5 months prior to our arrival. In the meantime, one of our party became temporarily disabled and was using a wheel chair. Upon check in, the desk clerk suggested we change one of our rooms to a handicapped accessible room. It was greatly appreciated because the accessible rooms are larger than the standard room. They also have grab bars in the bathroom. Upon arrival, the bellhops were helpful with unloading the car and parking it. They were always quick to open the door for our disabled party member when they saw her approach in her wheel chair. Everyone was very friendly and greeted us as we passed through the lobby.
The hotel is convenient to Madison Square Garden, across the street from an excellent restaurant, sparkling clean, adequate in size, and with a good shower. Unlike too many other hotels, the lighting in the room was excellent. All staff were friendly and professional, and its nice to get Starbucks in the hotel in the morning. The negatives were that the towels in the bathroom were quite thin, and the pillows small and hard. I found the bed comfortable; my husband didnt. That said, I would stay here again.
The place was excellent. Close to the Garden and the subway for easy access to anywhere in the city. The staff was professional and friendly. Anticipated my needs before I asked and were ready to serve. The room was updated and the bathroom was immaculate. The internet was easy to access and responsive.
I stayed at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Chelsea while I was in town to teach a workshop. The staff was extremely kind, friendly, and professional and made me feel very welcome. My room and bed were extremely comfortable. I am a very light sleeper, but was able to sleep through the night since my room was so quiet! In the morning, Carlos at the Starbucks counter greeted me and the other customers with a huge smile, and genuinely kind words. It made my day. I will definitely be back the next time I am in NYC, and will unhesitatingly recommend this hotel to friends and family.
The welcoming and efficient staff really makes this hotel in the heart of Chelsea. The exterior and lobby do not impress with their appearance, but the hotel is as clean as a button. The rooms are functional, as you would expect in the middle of Manhattan. The dining area is open and airy, with very responsive staff, but breakfast is mostly prepared items. Cooked to order eggs or the like would be welcome. Minor quibbles against what was a pleasant and restful stay. I would rebook at any time.
Had a great stay here. The place is clean, staff is friendly. Right across a police station, so you feel very safe. Walking distance to Time Square, empire state building, Macys. I just wish they had more complementary bottled water, because walking on the streets of NYC on a hot summer day, you just want to relax back at the hotel room with a cold bottled water.
We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Chelsea for the first time recently on a short weekend trip to NYC. We usually stay at other Marriott properties in the city, but they were booked so we tried this property. We were pleasantly surprised by our experience there. The hotel interiors are decorated in a modern, fresh design. Everything appears new and fresh. The room was beautiful and well-maintained. The bathroom had nice tiling and a modern shower. The A/C was terrific on a hot, humid day. Most importantly, all the hotel employees we encountered were polite, friendly and concerned about providing great service. Will definitely return.
Hotel was only 1/2 block from the bus drop off and at $120 /night for Midtown the price could not be better. We had a king size bed which took up most of the room, but the bed was comfortable and we were mainly in the room to sleep. Good size bathroom with a great shower - you could easily adjust and it was good pressure. The only negative was a constant low volume high pitch noise from the heating system. It didnt bother me but my wife said it kept her awake.
Nice and quite new hotel (at least it seems to be a quite new). Very tidy and comfortable. Location is great! (of course it depends on what you need to be nearby :) ) Nearby is Madison Square Garden (we spent four evenings at MSG), Penn Station, Macys and Empire State Building. The Time Square is also in walking distance. They have in-room safety deposit boxes, Wi-Fi and couple of computers at the desk where you can do the airline checking, print tickets etc. The breakfast bar serves coffee, oat meal, sandwiches etc. and the guys at the breakfast bar were very friendly and glad! Also the other hotel staff were friendly. Our room at 4th floor was quite quiet. Not very much traffic noise. But noise from the corridor can be heard. Especially when someone enters or exits the room next to you... Air conditioning/heater was very noisy, but you can turn it off for night.Value for the money: I gave only average, because in my opinion well over 200$ is quite a lot for a night when you stay for example 8 nights like we did. But it seems to be quite a same fare in all other hotels in this area...We had a pleasant stay here.
I recently stayed at this hotel with a couple of friends and family for my Bachelorette party. The stay here was nothing less than perfect! The staff were all so accommodating and a pleasure to speak to. They really made us feel welcomed each time we stepped into the lobby. Sometimes, they even joined in our jokes or helped out when we needed it outside. The bed, room and bathrooms were super clean each day. Linens were promptly brought when needed and the showers were amazing, that soap! Everyone we met through passing, were always super friendly and upbeat.Even though we were a bunch of girls doing bachelorette things, this hotel and staff contributed to our NYC experience in the greatest way possible. We are all SO HAPPY we stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott New York Manhattan / Chelsea!Thank you for your hospitality!!
The staff here is amazing!! We had an issue with our room and Shirley at the front desk made it right and right away! Switched our room and upgraded us. Also Carlo and the staff at the bistro were very nice! I travel often and dont often leave hotel reviews, but loved the friendly and efficient staff. Thank you! Also great location to Madison Square Garden.
Recent stay here wasnt bad. Actually it was quite comfortable. The room was a little smaller than I wouldve like, but the bed was comfortable, noise level was tolerable, given that it was New York City.
Positive: firts when I Book a room the Hotel have breakfas room but when I chek in some body sent to me a tex and let me know the break fast room are closed for now i chose these this place because has a break fast room open wasent open . Negative: alot of people use out side tables they are not customers from the Hotel and are smoke all day my family dosentt like thet because whit pay for the room its not a cheep room never can back there
This property is located in a great area of NYC. Easy to walk to many things and lots of restaurants and shops surrounding, however its tucked away quietly between 6th & 7th avenue right across the street from the police station. The staff were very welcoming. But most importantly to me, the room was very clean! There was also closet and drawer space. I would definitely stay here again!
I stayed at the Courtyard for about a week and a half. I liked the room (its small, but quiet), especially the bathroom, which was nicely designed (again, with the caveat that it has small cabinets, with almost no counter space); I liked the spacious shower. The cabinetry in the bedroom was very compact (cramped), with almost no hanging room in the closet. Very comfortable bed. The one huge minus was the breakfast, which was so terrible that it eclipses any other bland and disappointing breakfasts in similar hotels from other chains, such as the Residence Inn, Holiday Inn Express, and others. In the past, other Courtyard hotels have offered typical American cooked breakfasts, which, while being routine, were, at least edible, the breakfast restaurant at this property offers only heated bread egg sandwiches. On my first morning in the hotel, I attempted to order one of the menu heated sandwiches without cheese, only to be told that they were pre-made. I asked them to pull the cheese off, which they did, but the result was so rubbery that I stopped about half way through. My business associated had a few bites, looked at me and laughed, and we both gave up. Needless to say, we ate elsewhere every morning we were in New York. My other disappointment in the hotel was that the lobby has no seating at all. New York was in the middle of a huge heat wave, and it would have be nice to have the option to wait inside for a Lyft or Uber. Go to this hotel for the price and you wont have any complaints, as long as you dont expect the public areas to be comfortable or inviting.
Ive stayed at this property a couple of times when I had to be in Midtown Manhattan. Other bigger and more expensive hotels Ive stay at in the neighborhood over the years may be more luxurious, but their lobbies are as busy as bus terminals. This place is a wonderful relief from midtown as soon as you step inside. Also theres lot of drawers and a bit of hanging space, which is great for longer stays (8 days) like mine. I really enjoyed my stay here. If you have to be near Penn Station, I would highly recommend it.
The hotel is conveniently located and reasonably priced for the area. Dont expect much from the lobby, as its almost non-existent. Only seating in the lobby is actually outside by the sidewalk. Rooms are well-designed but small. The bathroom is a standout in terms of design and the shower works well, but there is little counter space. The HVAC system works well, so climate control is good. The wardrobe closet is small and difficult to hang up clothing within, due to the angled hanging bar and the meager depth of the unit, so you may want to put your clothing in drawers. As to the breakfast downstairs: other than coffee, dont bother. They have pre-made breakfast sandwiches that they heat up, and the result is rubbery, almost impossible to chew and swallow. So buyer beware there. Courtyards used to feature fresh-cooked breakfasts, but thats not the case in this hotel. One plus: very fast elevators.
Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Rooms and hallways feel nice and private. You need a room card to go up on the elevator from the lobby, and you need a room card to get into the building late at night, so it feels very safe. Beautiful bathrooms (especially the shower; the King room I stayed in did not have a bathtub), cozy room. Not much of a view but I didnt stay in my room much so I didnt mind. The King room had a safe to lock valuables in. The only negative is it was very busy (Thanksgiving week) and during prime check-in hours the elevators took a LONG time to get there. If you can take the stairs then it would be okay.
This is one of the worst hotel experiences I have had on four different continents, a dozen cities, and especially the worst Ive ever had in NYC. You are simply are not getting any value for your money here. I do not typically stay in heavily touristed areas when in NY, but we had friends from Minneapolis in town who chose this hotel, and we thought the Marriott name carried some esteem. We were wrong. Aside from the front desk clerks, housekeeping staff, and the man who looked after our luggage, the staff was the rudest I have ever encountered. This is especially true of the male staff, and one man in uniform in particular who was working on your right elevator bay. This man was riding the elevator up and down and instead of placing a sign on the front that it was under maintenance, he would wait until guests CRAMMED themselves into the space before mumbling inaudibly, could you please use another elevator? He would repeat this phrase in a monotone, bare minimum voice level until enough people heard him and left. Absolutely unacceptable. To make matters worse, the elevators were unoperational to the point that a serious overhaul of the system is needed. For the traffic that comes through this area of town, there is no way that elevator, with its broken bay and an outdated and SLOW system, will be able to accommodate for much longer. After our first two attempts at using it, we took the stairs for the remainder of our trip, quite literally exiting through an old hallway an into the garbage and recycling alley of the hotel just to avoid having to use that terrible elevator. If wed been placed any higher than the first five floors, this would have been a major inconvenience, especially when we had to bring our luggage back downstairs to check out.No dining options, no actual hotel bar (the neighboring Deweys is decent but theres no interior access point) and bare-minimum service make me believe this Marriott will not be around much longer.
Had an amazing stay! I had called the day before for an early check in which they made sure to tell me had been requested but nothing had been confirmed. We got to the hotel earlier than expected and the room was available! Everything was clean and fresh. When our key card wouldnt work the staff on the floor let us in and made sure we got working cards. All of the staff was very helpful and polite. Would definitely recommend and go back for other stays.
Fast check in, great location if youre traveling for business and work around the area. Also, easy to get a taxi on a rainy day. Rooms are bigger that what you would expect for New York and the bathroom was very clean and spacious. I stayed in the 3rd floor and though noise would be an issue but slept like a baby. Would definitely stay again.
My family and I stayed at the Marriott Chelsea and we thought that overall it was a good hotel. The room and bathroom was very clean. When it comes to the cleanliness of bathrooms and rooms, my standards are very high and it met my expectations. Also, the location is very convenient to shopping and restaurants on 6th and 7th street. However there was one minor problem as far as the elevator not stopping on our floor even though it was selected. Also, I believe for the amount of money spent at this hotel, there should be some kind of complimentary breakfast for free. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
Never have I stayed in a hotel with ZERO problems until now. I am very picky about cleanliness, so take it from me, this hotel is clean. At other hotels, I come back in the middle of my day and the room still isnt cleaned. My family came back (from breakfast) one morning to get ready for our day, and we caught the housekeeper... get this... mopping our bathroom floor! The room was already almost done. The room was small, but very clean. The beds were comfy cozy! The staff greeted us when we came in every time with a Welcome Back! and when we left it was, Enjoy your day! They were all so very sweet and helpful. The location was ideal because it was within walking distance of many of the major attractions that you want to see. The only time we took a taxi was the day we visited the Statue of Liberty and 9/11 Memorial. It is also a block away from Penn Station, which has subway service to anywhere you want to go!The hotel you choose when vacationing can make or break your visit. This hotel is a perfect choice to ensure that you have a smooth and unforgettable NYC experience. We did, and I hope you do too!
Nice hotel very close to the Pennsylvania station and Madison Square Garden. There is a cafe where you can have breakfast and there is a pub next to it that you can access directly from the front desk. The rooms are quite basic, even the suites unfortunately. The personnel is very friendly and tries to help out as much as possible. They have been also quite response in both the chat and the in-app request services. Given the good pricing, this is in my opinion a good choice for Manhattan
Four of us stayed at the Courtyard for 7 nights. We had two rooms with two double beds per room. Staff were friendly and welcoming and took the time to help out where needed. Beds very comfortable and clean. AC was efficient and relatively noise free. Wardrobe space per room was just enough for 2 people. It rained a lot during our trip and the lack of options for hanging our wet clothes was annoying. A few hooks here and there would be most beneficial. The only fly in the ointment was a problem with my bank card on check in. I had to call U.K. bank and was charged a hefty $220 for call. Did ask for reduction on check out, but to date have heard nothing. All in all though a good experience.
We rented the Junior Suite for our recent Spring Break stay in NYC. This suite had a bedroom separate from the living room. The living area had a fold-out sofa that was almost full size and very comfortable. The room finishes were very modern and looked new. Very clean and spotless. The location, a short walk from Penn Station, was convenient for those taking a train to NYC. As a recent Platinum level member at Marriott, Ive experienced Marriott and other hotel brands nationwide over the past 20 or more years. I must stay that the New York City staff was EXCEPTIONAL and really made our visit a pleasure! The front desk was friendly, greeted us upon every arrival, and had our room ready early, just as we requested it. The Cafe staff, for morning breakfast, was amazing. Each person was very friendly, upbeat, helpful and made each morning a pleasure to experience. Although the cost is high in NYC, this Courtyard beat our expectations. We highly recommend it.
I travel a lot so I didn’t expect less from the Marriott. There were some issues to begin with but the staff did their best to make things better and the manager succeeded by contacting me Directly and making sure Everything was ok. And I appreciated the fact that they did this without me having to make noise or a scene. I am not the type who likes to rant and rave, the old squeaky wheel gets the oil trick, is not my thing. The staff was able to see that the checking in was a big issue and the manager( Stuart I believe his name was) called me directly to help. Very much appreciated would continue to stay with Marriott in the future.
We have stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott for several visits in the past 3 years. The location is excellent for midtown/downtown activities. Two blocks from one subway and 4 blocks from another. Clean, clean hotel and fairly quiet, which is unusual in NYC. Rooms are NYC sized but request on of larger rooms if available to have a bit more space. Bathrooms are clean and up to date.
The location of this hotel was perfect, relative to Penn Station. The hotel looks like it was recently updated and the appearance had almost a spa like feel. I felt secure as you need a hotel key to access the guest floors. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Only complaint was the noise from the hallway; the doors did not cancel much out and everything going on in the hallway could be heard. Will definitely consider staying at this hotel again.
The customer service at this Marriott is exceptional. Every staff member that I bumped into during my stay during our visit to Manhattan were polite and always asked us how our day was going. Most of the time they followed by asking if there was anything else they could do my wife or I. The staff at this hotel are either very well trained by the management or the management know how to hire well. I would definitely stay at this Marriott again. I also liked the Chelsea location in Manhattan.
We picked this hotel for proximity to Penn station and it was excellent. It was a little tricky to find (the hotel sign is pretty small) but it is new/modern, clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. The lobby is a little small and can get congested so if you have large amounts of luggage be aware of this. We used the hotel as a base for a weekend is NYC to see a show and to visit our daughter. It was a perfect base.
The bed was super comfy, room was large for NYC, great location and AMAZING staff! Everyone at the hotel was so helpful and nice it made our stay so perfect! The room was really clean, bathroom was clean and huge. Bed and linens were so comfy I didnt want to get out of bed in the morning! The restaurant pub next door was nice for a night cap after the concert we saw. I will be back to this hotel again!! It was all around a great hotel!
1st time in a Courtyard in years. This hotel is fantastic. VERY clean - very friendly and professional staff. Rooms a little on the smallish side - but VERY clean and well appointed. Common areas clean - and the artwork/photos throughout the entire hotel were very nice and fresh. Also super location is you have to catch a train at Penn Station - its only a block and a half walk from the front door. Will definitely be staying here again when in NYC.
This hotel is one of the few near Amtrak Penn Station to offer rooms with wheelchair roll in shower with grab bars. A shower bench is available on request at reception. This combination made our stay more enjoyable by relieving worries about comfort using the bathroom. The reception and lobby staff were extremely helpful and effective at meeting our requests quickly. This hotel was the best choice for mobility challenged travelers.
Had an amazing stay at Courtyard New York Manhattan Marriott. Location is perfect just next to Madison Square Gardehn. Front desk staff are very helpful. Breakfast was the only negative thing about the hotel. No buffet, instead you can only chose from a menu up to 20usd. Room was just impecable and the bed is always 5star
The minute I entered through the rotating door, I was greeted with a smile and a clean, bright, welcoming lobby. The staff were eager to check me in and assist me with anything I may need to enhance my stay. The location, 2 blocks from Penn Station is what sold me on choosing this Marriott Hotel. I was not disappointed and have told my husband that this will be our GO TO hotel whenever we need to stay in Manhattan. Being on 7th avenue also helped us not get too lost when we walked to Times Square. Very close to the High Line too. Cant wait for an excuse to stay there again.Clean and updated bathroom-shower is beautiful!Comfortable bed and pillows.Overall A++++ and We WILL stay here again.
Excellent hotel, very clean and staff were friendly, very helpful, and treated me like a VIP guest! Location is outstanding, and I would definitely stay at the Marriott Courtyard in Chelsea/Manhattan again. The only very small negative was a leaky bathroom sink, but otherwise 5 thumbs:)
Reservation promised (guaranteed) a king. Room had 2 queens. Front desk couldnt really be bothered to explain and offered no alternative or remediation. Gold Elite member. Dont expect an upgrade, but do expect some measure of customer service. Once settled, room was...fine, give or take. Clean enough. Small, even by Manhattan standards. Good water pressure. Somebody had used most of the body lotion already, which was a little worrying. Dont plan on ever staying here again. Too many properties, Marriott and otherwise, within a few blocks to deal with attitude from the front desk. Meh.
I’ve stayed in most of the hotels in Chelsea, this one hits the mark. The rooms are compact, yet very clean and efficient, a mounted TV allowing nice desk space and surface area with lots of plugs for charging. The location, friendly staff, very clean rooms and over all flow to the hotel just works.
This was the worst hotel stay Ive had in years, and I travel very frequently so thats saying something. I requested two adjoining *down-free* (im very allergic) king rooms roughly one month in advance of our stay, which wasnt guaranteed, however it was assured to be highly likely. Our stay began at noon where we were denied our early check in because one of the adjoining rooms was still getting ready. This was fine, our 3rd room in the hotel was available, so we left our things there. They assured us they would let us know as soon as it was ready, and that if we wanted a single room, that it was ready then. We chose to wait. After waiting until 430PM we came back to the hotel after not hearing from anyone, only for them to tell us that having the adjoined rooms would not be possible at all and never was. We were misinformed twice that day. We got a down-free king room non-adjoining.We got into the room and all pillows were duck feather. I called down to have more pillows brought up while we were at dinner. They brought MORE down. This SAME thing happened 3 MORE TIMES. I am allergic. Not picky. I have a severe reaction where I swell and it becomes hard to breathe. Getting ready and being in the room was very difficult with the, now 10, down pillows in the room. The next morning, the receptionist said she awarded us Late Checkout as a gift to us, which I had already requested anyways. They offered no points to my account, no form of repayment or apology for what had happened during our stay. I will never come back to this marriott, despite being in NY very often.
I wish Id known about this hotel when I visited last year, as it was much nicer than the one I stayed at then. The location is perfect, so close to Penn Station, but still relatively quiet (aside from some construction down the street). The room is small but well laid out, with lots of space to store my belongings. I appreciated the in-room safe and the mini fridge (perfect for keeping fresh fruit for breakfast). The walk-in shower was great!
From the start, Camilo is so friendly and excellent to drop my bags off with. This is my second time staying at this hotel and I will never stay anywhere else. The service is unmatched. I stayed here a week ago and when I arrived, I was greeted by the staff with a Welcome back!! and when I left, Camilo joked and said See you next week? Waking up and seeing Tenzin and Carlos in the morning was a real treat. I am not a morning person by any means but I looked forward to my morning talks with them and their great service. This time, I was upgraded to a room that was on a higher floor and much larger than my previous stay. I am not picky about my hotel rooms at all but I felt like this was a real treat that the front desk concierge gave me. Even when I had checked out and left my bags, I was asked if I needed a key to use the restroom or if they could service me with anything from the marketplace (I knew I had to pay but it was nice to be reminded that they had snacks and water). I also loved to be greeted with a Goodnight and a Good morning. Literally, if I could live in this hotel, I would. I will recommend no other hotel to my friends and family. This is the only hotel for me!!
The hotel was very clean. The hostess was very accommodating. They were very helpful in every aspect of our stay. The only downside was the size of the room. They offered a chair sleeper, which was suitable for my thirteen year old son. With the sleeper pulled out, the room was very small. Other than that, we had a great stay and would probably stay at this hotel again in the future.
We traveled in by train and the hotel was a few blocks from Penn Station. Although the room was not ready the staff stored our luggage and out we went to explore. The next morning we had breakfast in the hotel and Tan and Carlos were exceptional. The new breakfast menu was very good however the selections were not always available. We would definite return to the hotel for future visits.
I have stayed at the Courtyard New York Manhattan/Chelsea four days with my family. Great location, comfortable and clean rooms. Ladies at the reception desk were very helpful and friendly. Cleaning lady, who cleaned our rooms every day, was excellent. She made her job on 200%. I have recommended this hotel to all my friends.
Overall, the employees are cheerful, helpful and very pleasant. The consistency of the service was impressive. The rooms are newer, comfortable, and exceptionally clean.I was with a small group of 11 and everyone had the same good experience. Parking was a bit of trouble - we paid $65 for overnight parking (which is the going rate in NYC) and it took almost an hour to get my car. I was in a hurry and expected it within the 30 minute time frame that I was promised more than once. If you are in a hurry, order your car up or you may end up waiting. Otherwise, you wont be unhappy with your stay here!
This hotel is cute, clean and well located. However be aware if you book a 2 double bed room- to small to house your lugguge and bathroom has no counter space for supplies. Could’ve just been the room we had... but it made a 5 day stay for 3 guest really a little tight.
Location is great...near Penn Station, Madison Square Garden, etc. Room was very clean and bed was super comfortable. Staff was friendly and outgoing. Had a breakfast sandwich from their small food area...you could tell it was processed and microwaved. I would expect better from a Marriott.
This hotel was ideally located to get to all of our meetings while in New York. It was close to many attractions. Within walking distance to great shopping and dining! The hotel was extremely clean and smelled amazing as you walked through the front door. My room had a view of the Empire State Building that lit up at night! It was right across from NYPD so I felt totally safe. I hope to be back just for fun!
This hotel is just a few blocks from Penn Station and very convenient. We asked for an early check-in because one of us was not feeling well. The room was ready when we arrived. Room was NYC sized but king bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and spacious. Would recommend.
This small hotel has the feel of a boutique property, cozy and intimate. It is very clean and comfortable, with a beautiful design and user-friendly spaces. We enjoyed our one night stay and would definitely stay there again. It is our first time staying at a Courtyard and we look forward to the next visit!
The rooms were clean and comfortable, but small and tight. The lobby area was very small. The coffee was great, but the breakfast food options were not very palatable. Free coffee service would be nice in the morning. Hot, prepared to order breakfast would have made the stay much nicer. Great internet access and speed.
I returned to this location after having a very good experience on my first visit, and was not disappointed the second time. The rooms are stylish, comfortable and efficiently designed. All of the staff I encountered from the front desk to housekeeping were courteous and professional. When I expressed some concerns about noise in my room, the response was immediate and the issue was resolved to my satisfaction. The location is tucked away from the nearby hustle and bustle of Penn Station so I like to think of it as a hidden gem. I would definitely return.
Being close to Penn Station was great however the choice of nearby restaurants/bars was not great. The room was comfortable with a wonderful bed and shower but the room was small. I did not like going to the basement for ice. The little market off the lobby was nice but we didnt take advantage of the breakfast because they were out of sandwiches which was the only decent selection. The staff was accommodating but they were very busy.
I have stayed at this Courtyard a few times now. I love it because it is central Manhattan within walking distance of Penn Station (I use Amtrak to get to NYC from Norfolk VA). The NYC Subway is also within walking distance and the Number 1 train takes you up and down Manhattan.Restaurants galore in the area and Kroea Town is next door. The hotel is always clean and neat and the staff very friendly.
Very clean room but very small and tiny. Small lobby with very little dining option for lunch or dinner. Great coffee for breakfast but better if you walk out where there is more choices. In term of location, I wish it was closer to my office and too much traffic which is always congested. Subway not very close but walking distance to Penn station.
This is the second time Ive stayed for a week-long stay + I had a great experience. The hotel is nicer than I would have expected for a Courtyard, especially the bathroom, but what makes this hotel A+ for me is the staff. Overall, they were all so sweet & helpful & honestly know what customer service is all about. It was a pleasure to stay here & id do it again in a heartbeat. The business center is very nice too & they have Macs, which was great!
We were very impressed with the friendliness and helpfulness of the entire hotel staff. The rooms were a good size and very clean and comfortable. It was only 1 1/2 blocks from Penn Station, and when we arrived at noon they let us check in. they were happy to store our luggage after we had a late check out.
This hotel is perfectly located for anything you want to do in NYC. My experience from walking in to checking out was excellent. The rooms are standard size for a NYC hotel, possibly a little larger. Everything is clean and well kept up. I did not use the dining facility.
The hotel is close enough to walk to Times Square on a nice day. If you go the other direction the same distance you get a more authentic feel of NY away from the madness of time square. Its a great location to access pretty much anything you would want to get to in the city. The price was better than area hotels and for a courtyard I was very impressed. The rooms are small but thats a guarantee with any hotel in the city. They are clean and well maintained so it doesnt bother me. They make great use of the layout and the elevator is quick! I would defiantly return.
I was very pleased with my recent stay at the Courtyard Marriott NYC/Chelsea. The hotel is close to Penn Station, the airport shuttle and subway stations. The room was clean at my arrival and throughout the stay. The room (at the back) was very quiet which allows for a good night of sleep. The 135 Restaurant has a good selection for breakfast. The staff there is friendly and courteous and service is fast. I highly recommend this place.
Clean hotel with a modern bathroom in the guest room. The latte they made in the bistro was actually really good. I usually avoid anything other than a regular coffee at a Courtyard because they are always awful. The staff were very friendly and made me feel welcome. No internet TV, but thats probably pretty common with this hotel brand.
The hotel was nice. We lucked out and had the biggest room on the floor. NO BED BUGS! The view was nice, and the room was quiet. The bathroom was a little small but what do you expect when in NYC? It was our first time in NYC and the location was very close to the Penn Station, which was very good when trying to navigate in a new city.
My stay at Courtyard New York Manhattan/Chelsea is always a nice experience. I travel to NY 5 times per year on business and have found this hotel easy to access and get transportation to meetings, comfortable room with the amenities needed for me to work onsite in between meetings. I enjoy the Dewey conveniently adjoined to the hotel for after hour meal and cocktails. I recommend this hotel for reasonable pricing with all the amenities to enjoy your visit.
We had a wonderful weekend at BravoCon and the hotel made it event better. The location was perfect for shopping, dining and getting to all the BravoCon locations in Chelsea. We walked everywhere and having the hotel be in a central location made that possible. Great staff, clean room and a comfy bed. What more can you ask for?
If you are doing business in midtown, or traveling to an event at Madison Square Garden this is a convenient and comfortable hotel with an accommodation, welcoming staff. The food and beverage service meets the needs of both traveler and vacationer. The rooms are a bit small, but good for a single/couple. Expect a mix of travelers, especially tourists. And be prepared for hustle and bustle. The area is NYC energetic with Penn Station close by. A good choice for any reason. And if you are using Bonvoy points its a reasonable amount for the cost of any room in the Marriott family.
The room was small but very nice, including a well designed bathroom. It was a great place to stay because it was in close proximity to Penn Station which meant close to all trains. We took the train into the city and could walk with our luggage the short distance from Penn station to the hotel. From there we could readily walk to a subway stop to catch a train to Yankee stadium which was the main reason for our stay. Being that close to trains helped make the city smaller because we could readily get to all areas.
We called 3 hours ahead to notify them we would be a late arrival for our reservation that I had confirmed the week before and had made months before. They assured me there would be no problem. When we arrived we found that they gave our room away and had no others! They admitted our late arrival was noted on our reservation. They said there was something wrong with the room. It was midnight and after travelling 10+ hours by train and dragging our luggage from Penn Station they sent us to a Fairfield in to a smaller room in a 3 star hotel that is $150 less per night with no compensation. They were rude and unapologetic. We had to walk 6 more blocks with our luggage to the other hotel. I called my credit card company who contacted Marriott that next a.m. and they assured me we could return to the Marriott (I had no other options) and that Marriott would make it right and compensate us. We lugged everything back to the Marriott at 9 a.m. to be put in an inferior room yet again. They assured us they would move our stuff to a better room while we were on our reserved tour that we were due to attend and everything would be taken care of. When we returned they had not done anything and balked at my request for the appropriate room. They finally moved us to a room on the top floor. We missed 2 meals and were late for two events. There were no apologies. They were the only rude people we met in New York.
In town for pleasure. The room was clean, the bathroom was nice and the bed was comfortable. This is the most important thing for me during a stay. Do not be fooled by the lobby which in my opinion was dingy. Its NYC so the room was not big but at least it was clean. The location was near Madison Park which was convenient for us.....but we walked almost everywhere.
Stayed here in April of 2018 for a week. Decent location, as we were in Chelsea for a college visit for my son. The surrounding neighborhoods can be a bit sketchier than say around Times Square, where we stayed on our last visit. Other than that, the room was clean and the staff was nice. Bonus: we arrived early on our first day to make the most of our trip, and or room was ready for us to drop off our luggage and rest for a minute before heading out into the city. That was priceless after a long flight and Uber ride.
This was our 9th stay at the Courtyard Chelsea, weve been coming here since they first opened a few years ago. We keep coming back because the location cant be beat and the staff are so welcoming and friendly. The rooms, on the small side (but this is New York) are always super clean and comfortable with nice views out the windows whether facing 30th Street on the front or 31st Street to the back of the property.Theres a perfectly good coffee and breakfast service offered each morning right in the hotel but the neighborhood is jammed with restaurants and coffee shops just steps away if youre looking for something more substantial. We really like this hotel and recommend it all our friends whore looking for a reasonably priced, convenient hotel in Manhattan.
A beautiful large room with very comfortable bed...although as noted I thought the room could use more furniture. This location is a short walk to great shopping (Macys, Nordstrom Rack, Hudson Yards a few blocks to the west), great eating (such as Korean on 30th), and is close to subways. Inspired me to join the Marriott rewards program and will be back.
Not a bad stay here. Be prepared to valet if youre driving in. Parking in front is super limited so prepare for the hectic situation ahead. Retrieving the car takes about 30 minutes so prepare for that as well. The staff were friendly the rooms were what youd expect. See picture. If new to NYC know that the rooms will likely be smaller than youre used to in other cities. The bistro in the lobby had good options and was quick. There is a NYC police station across so there may be a bit more noise but this is NYC, there is always noise going on. No avoiding that.
It was a perfect experience. Facilities were modern, clean, and comfortable. It was a perfect Oasis to go back to after a long day exploring the city. Location was central to everything we wanted to see and there are plenty of food options nearby. The only thing I didnt like is that the conditioner in the shower ran out and it wasnt replenished by housekeeping the next day. Thats not even worth taking half a star off though.
We stayed here for almost a week during a training event. The hotel was always clean and the rooms were nice. The location was good for us since our training was at Madison Square Garden which was only a couple of minute walk. There is a police station right across the street from hotel. I am not sure this was good or bad, it probably makes you feel safer but you there could be sirens which is true anywhere in New York.
The Marriott Courtyard Manhattan/Chelsea is an excellent choice in midtown Manhattan. Just blocks from Penn Station, it is well located for access to any location within the city. After arriving late from an overseas flight, we were especially appreciative of the outstandingly comfortable bed and the quiet in the morning hours. The room was new, modern, pristine clean and very well appointed. The shower was perfect. Internet and TV services were flawless. The desk and service staff members were wonderful. The price was very reasonable for the location in NYC and the high quality of the accommodations. We will stay here every time we go to New York in the future.
The location of the hotel is perfect for exploring NYC. The property is somewhat dated and the room that we stayed in was far below the quality of what I have come to expect from Marriott. There was one small very dated 2 person couch in the sitting area and a desk chair. This was in a family suite that was meant to accommodate four people. The Kitchenette was a counter and a microwave. It all felt like the unfinished space in someones basement that could be nice if it was finished. It was in no way the kind of presentation that I have found in the simplest of hotel properties. I was very disappointed.
We stayed at this hotel during the Thanksgiving Holiday for 3 nights (11-26-14 thru 11-29-14). The Staff was exceptional at the front desk!! The gentleman who helped us with our luggage was friendly and very helpful! The rooms were clean and a nice size for a NYC hotel. We had a great room on the 19th floor with a wonderful view of the Freedom Tower. We would definetely stay here again!!

2022-03-17Don and I stayed at the Marriott Courtyard /Chelsea for 2 nights. Just a couple of blocks from the train station, the room was very clean, bright and cheery. I think the main reason we had such a great experience was because of the welcoming staff. Anyone we met from behind the desk to the Doorman was so friendly and helpful which is so important to guests. We havent been home 24 hours and we are already planning our next visit in May. Thank you to all the staff at Marriott /Chelsea.Donald and Ann V.

2022-07-09Loved everything about this hotelRooms are quite big by NYC standards. Other hotels with two double beds are only 2/3rd size in terms of square footage and it makes a big differenceTheir front desk staff are prompt and courteousGym and laundry facilities are cleanly maintainedBreakfast options are pretty limited in the coffee shop but there are plenty of options outside for ones who want to have a heavier breakfastThe hotel in general felt safe and the rooms are super cleanAccess is so close to Penn station and you dont have to take a cab to JFK or EWR as there are plenty of trains from PennIf at all there is one downside, views from the rooms are limited and theres no rooftop option

2022-04-27I will start by saying that I hate staying at NYC Marriott properties. They are all so overpriced for the quality. This property really disappointed me though:1) Oversold their inventory for the night I booked and couldnt honor my King bed request. They moved me to a bigger room with two queen beds and a weird bathroom...2) Bathroom is beyond strange. A normal sized person barely fits between the awkward double sink and the wall.3) Bathroom was dirty - hairs from previous guests in the shower. 🤢 Gross.4) Ice machine broken5) Odd flooring in the room between carpets and bathroom floors meant I hit my toes HARD against the edge of the entry to the bathroom. I damaged and almost lost a toe nail in the process. Someone really got creative with this room. Its probably not up to code if you ask me.

2022-07-09Good location and clean. Our room has two full beds. The actual size of the room is much smaller than what it looks like in the hotel pictures. When two small suitcases are open, we can’t walk around easily. The housekeeping lady is very hardworking and clean our room every day. Noise insulation seems good. We stayed in 6th floor and heard little street noise when the window is closed. There’s a fridge in the room. There’s a Starbucks coffee in the lobby which is convenient. I wish they can lower the volume of the music in the lobby since there are many ppl working or talking business in the cafeteria area. The business center is adjacent to the cafeteria and there no divider or doors.

2021-12-19Letting us check it early, was so wonderful after a long flight! Also stored our luggage free of charge after checkout.Great service, very clean, comfy bed, hot water at any hour, excellent location.. I have no words to express how great our 8 day stay was!

2022-01-17This is a nice, clean, recently updated Courtyard. 24hr Self Parking $50/night is just halfway down a short block. So, very easy in and out. Usual Starbucks in the lobby. All staff courteous and helpful.Wish there was more precise info about parking on the website. No details on Bonvoy and no ability to call hotel directly, option disable. In the end it worked out great and I will return... but could have done without the angst of not having the details ahead of the game.

2022-05-31I booked this hotel based on its location to Penn Station (easy access to Newark airport) and some of the glowing reviews. I was extremely disappointed. Really, really disappointed. With 1 more night this year (its May) I will quality for platinum status in Marriott Bonvoy - and Ive been at least gold status for the last 20 years in each of Marriott and Starwood- and therefore know a thing or two about hotels, and the Marriott group of hotels. Without a doubt, this was the most disappointing property Ive ever stayed in within this chain. During the stay we had 4 different rooms. Wed booked a suite, and saw 2 of those. These were both grim. The suite part of the room was gloomy with old dated furniture, filthy looking carpet, seating for 2 or 3 people (a filthy looking 1.5 person sofa, a filthy looking cushion seat with no arms, and a desk chair) - useless for a room supposedly for up to 4 people to relax and watch TV. That room itself was SO unpleasant, that you just didnt even want to be in there. There was no hanging hooks for towels - this had to be via draping them over open wardrobe doors in the bedroom (2 doors = 2 towels, the other towels go where?), the bathroom had a double sink (all well and good, but the space between the sink and the wall was about 18 inches meaning you had to shimmy your way up to the end sink and then were blocked in; bend over to brush your teeth and your butt hits the wall - Id never seen such poor design in a hotel room let alone a suite), plus a genius design of putting a glass door that was positioned right in front of the toilet so that everyone could see you using the toilet. Add to that, the elevators, which didnt seem to run mechanically smoothly, made loud noises all night. Our first suite wrapped around 3 lift shafts. Rather insultingly, at reception the first morning, I was told people like that suite. Ive heard some rubbish in my life, but that takes the cake. We were moved to another suite, with the same grim carpet, same useless old furniture, but this one had a proper sink, a glass door that didnt face the toilet, and towel hooks.... but alas.. those dreaded elevators. The manager was wonderful, and took the problem to hand, and we were assigned 2 interconnecting rooms away from the elevators. Although this awful carpet was still present, this was a much better experience, and I have to thank her for doing her best to fix the problem for us, and salvage our stay. Profuse thanks to her. Unfortunately though, someone else would be assigned those grim suite rooms and be told they are wonderful. If you are booking this hotel, then all I can do is recommend that you get a room as far from the elevators as possible, do not bother with a suite as the living rooms are so unpleasant that you just will sit on your bed to be away from it (which rather defeats the purpose of having a suite). My best advice though, is to steer clear of this property until it has a total refurbishment. Such as shame as the location is very handy to many places you want to visit, multiple subway lines and Penn Station for EWR airport.

2022-06-17Had a great time in this place! The hotel is good and staff are really great! The hotel will keep your luggage all day even you already check out. So is beautiful!
