We wanted to go here for dads day...I tried calling, got no one. Their web page is minimal. It states they have a Sunday brunch, thats what we were planning for, but it didnt have it listed anywhere on line. I reached out to them thru fb messenger, they said they would send me a copy of that menu, and never did. We ended up going, the food was very good i must say, but the service was a bit off
Worst experience ever!! Called in am was told they dont take reservations. I was going to see my friend play. Got there at 6:30 requesting a table inside. 2 hours late we still had no table and everyone was starving!!Finally given an outside table to come and find out there were open reserved and unreserved tables. Spoke to the manager who wasnt looking to please 6 angry people! My friends salmon was delivered cold and raw. Everyone else had burgers which were frozen, not fresh burgers and disgusting.Oh lastly the bathroom was flooded.
GREAT PLACE my writing this review is long overdue. We have frequented the Castle Cove for a number of years now. The waterfront location and view is outstanding. The owner Bob and his assistant Andrea and staff go above and beyond to make sure your visit is a pleasant and memorable one. We have watched as Bob has constantly improved the property and every aspect of the restaurant/bar over the years. Friendly people, great live entertainment good food and drink. A winning combination and the place to visit on Greenwood Lake.
First of all I never knew about this lake...and its only an hour from the city. Felt like we were a lot further away from home. The view from the deck is breathtaking. The atmosphere is amazing. Great live music with a view like this? What more could you want? The wait for a table was long - but its expected at a place like this on a beautiful night and who cares...more time to spend here! Food was great, server was super sweet. My friends and I had a great, unexpected night. We are still talking about it!
Beautiful location, good food. I personally wish that the menu had a bit more variety as I am a picky eater (Only eat Chicken, no seafood or red meats so it limits what is available to me on the menu). With that said, we will return but we dont visit as frequently as if they had more options on the menu. Cove Castle hosts amazing, very fun events. Went to their Halloween party which turned into a Dance Party. It takes a lot for me to get up on the dance floor, but Cove Castle and their amazing DJ was able to make it happen! LOL. It was a great experience and we cant wait to return.
Absolutely stunning views and a beautiful place. Awesome outside space thats right on the water. I dont know if theyll be on the menu forever, but the shrimp tacos were the absolute best thing we ordered. We got a side dish of roasted corn which was just so so, but the wings were great. Overall, a great place to stop even if its a bit expensive for the area.
What a terrible experience. Terrible service and terrible food. My fiance and I have both been in food service and it takes a lot for us to tip less than 20%.First, we were completely ignored for over 15 mins when we were sat down. All other tables were being well attended to, and all attempts of trying to get some attention seemed purposefully ignored. So much so that I started to think why are are we being so neglected. Is there an unseen reason why they are ignoring us? We finally got table service after we went in to talk to a manager.Second, the food was completely awful. I got the fish tacos and I couldnt eat them even though I was ravenously hungry. It literally tasted like eating a mouthful of old spice. All salt and seasoning, and I tend to over salt everything. They were disgusting. The waitress never checked in on us once. Not for another drink or check in for the food.Third, when I stated the food was inedible, the waitress just took it away. No comp, no exchange for something else, no drink nothing, they charged us full price for the meal. I worked as a waitress for 8 years and never would imagine doing that.Fourth, they overcharged us $4 over the listed price on the menu for the meal. They apologized and corrected the check. Sneaky practices. Do not go here!
Nice spot, good music but then they dropped the ball. The burger was ok the fries were cold. The drinks were not good. As a matter of fact the margarita was gross. My son ordered it, tasted it said nothing asked his girlfriend to taste it then me we both went yuck! At $15 dollars it should taste really good in my opinion. The service was ok. The poor waitress did her best but they seemed understaffed which is an ongoing problem here. This could be a real gem. Right now its kinda tough. Too bad.
This place is beautiful, food was good. However We felt they discriminated us and our friends. My husband is American and I am Latin. We were eating And told our Dark skin friends to come And joint us. Well as soon as they cameAll eyes were on us. And the service got so bad they were not even serving us. We requested a change of seating And they told us no we can’t move you, when there were so much setting available. Sad that because of your skin color you get discriminated. Skin colors matter at cove castle. We felt the hate, we felt the discrimination. My friends are black but they are human and amazing persons. She is a nurse and he is a police officer. Yes they black but they are Americans, they are humans. All life matters. Very sad 😞
The food was excellent. Service was TERRIBLE. We ordered our food and didnt get it for 1 hour as we watched everyone around us get their food. Even people who arrived after we did came , ate and left before we were served. They told us the kitchen printer ran out of paper but how did other people get served then? This ruined our whole experience as we were with our grandchildren who were quite hungry. It was only after I got up and hunted down out waiter did anything even start to happen. So disappointing.
I have been to Cove castle multiple times. My FIRST time I had a long hair embedded in my rice.. Yet I gave it another 3 chances & I regret it every time. Yes I love the view and atmosphere but there a majority of the staff is awful at what the do. Laurie and a select few are awesome but overall the customer service is scarce. I’m not one to leave reviews but Ive had enough. IF I come back it will be to try the boat tour…
Poorly run. Asked waitress for a check 4 times. Finally got it. Paid. Then the waitress said because we were on the other side of the rope we have to pay $10 a person. I said I didn’t even sit at a table I had a drink and paid for it I am not paying $10 to be on the other side of the rope to dance and no one told me I had to pay $10 to stand on the other side of the rope to dance. The manager said I have to pay it and I said I will not pay it and I will not come back and goodbye and I walked away from her
Came for an afternoon on the water, upon our arrival we were immediately greeted as if we were family. We started with a boat trip around the lake, our Captain Bobby was sweet, kind and very informative. You can tell he really knows and loves the lake. Everyone in the community was so nice, every boat we passed we were greeted with waves and smiles. At a time like this a smile goes a long way.To finish our evening off we ate at the on site restaurant, everything was delicious. We will be back! Thanks to the staff at Cove Castle for providing spectacular service during these trying times.
Fly Under The Radar to Discover This Hidden Gem in GWLLip Service brought me, a local, and my visiting family from Burlington VT to the Castle Cove last Thursday. We heard there was a fantastic houseband, great food and great service. Jonny Rosch, Mick Gaffney, Dave Gellis, and Kevin Bregande had the place rocking and rolling and the drinks were flowing! Just so happened my father, who has played the spoons since as long as I can remember, was able to join this incredible band to create an unforgettable evening for us all. If you are looking to break away from the everyday for an evening this is the place to go.
Food was very good...when we finally got it. From the bartender having us wait 10 minutes just to order a beer and a glass of wine (there were only 3 other people at the bar) to waiting for our food for so long it was a terrible service experience. It takes 30 minutes before We order. We ordered 2 mushroom burgers. 30 minutes later the waitress comes back and says were out of them. 30 minutes! So we ordered a pasta dish and a salad and another 30 minutes later she brings 2 pasta dishes. When we said we ordered 1 pasta and 1 salad she said, Thats not what the chef said.Wow. They comped one of our dishes to make up for everything but I wouldnt eat there again. No communication, telling us what we ordered when we didnt, waiting 1 1/2 hours to eat. Ridiculous.
Read some mixed reviews, but yesterday was the second Sunday there with my husband and only have good things to say about the place. The view is spectacular. So far we ordered mussels, the prosciutto & burrata, pizza, salad with grilled shrimp, French fries, shrimp cocktail...everything was delicious. And yesterday, our waitress Jenna was super friendly and very professional. I would definitely recommend and well definitely go back.
We took the boat ride and were seated to eat before the ride. The view from our table was so relaxing and peaceful. Our food was not ready in time for our boat departure but Bobby and our waitress helped us get it on the boat. We had a lovely boat ride and Bobby was a great tour guide.
Ive dined at this restaurant several times over the past few years. The food has always been great and you cant fined a better location. The reviews that negatively comment about the staff are either false or extremely isolated incidents because I have never had an issue. In fairness, I have experienced above average delays on occasion but I cant understand what peoples expectations are? You visit a popular location during peak hours and are surprised on the wait time for seating and food. I guess they would trash Disney World as well, yet return time and time again.
Live music on Thursday nights. Band was a bit loud but talented. Very large portions and it tasted very good. However, we went preseason, so they still only offered a limited winter menu and drinks. Very friendly staff who were very responsive. Will plan on going back when the weather warms up and the lakefront deck is open.
We came over to have lunch with our family today. Unfortunately we had very unpleasant experience. Manager was very rude, she refused to sit us outside due to number of people in our group (there was eight of us). She did not have a problem to sit us inside, but started to make up rules to avoid sitting us outside. We were very dissatisfied and disappointed with the way we were treated, and decided to go to Emerald Point Restaurant where we were seated with no problem. We do not plan on returning to Castle Cove ever again after how we were treated today.
This was the first place I went to with my son when NJ opened up outside dining. It was simply lovely. It had been much refurbished since the last time I was there. However, food was mediocre and very expensive. I have the flatbread appetizer and my son had a burger. I also had a glass of wine and he had a Coke. The burger was somewhat smaller than expected, as well as my glass of wine for the price. The flatbread with 4 cheeses and arugula seemed to be just 1 cheese and just wasnt that interesting . Regardless it is beautiful and they have live. Music. Just dont be surprised when you get the check!
The atmosphere and view is just spectacular! The Food is always amazing. This is the third time we sat at the bar and had Jen as our barmaid. We adore her! She is always smiling and friendly. Whenever we ask her to pair a wine with our dish with no hesitation she tells us which one she thinks would pair nicely and she is always spot on! If you want awesome service sit at the bar trust me. We sat at a table a few times and the high school servers are unpleasant. We love cove castle and will be back to sit at the bar!!
Great bar restaurant venue right on the lake. Beautiful views of the lake, great interior design. Staff very friendly. Food was good and interesting enough to not be pub grub but they had all the staples of pub food. We went with five teens (who sat at thier own table) and three adults. We all enjoyed what we ordered and there was something for everyone (from picky kids to picky adults). The only complaint was that they added the 18% tip and didnt mention it. On the credit card statement the suggested tip was on the whole bill which already had 18% added to it. You had to read the detail bill to see the tip was already added. In addition they put the 18% on the single adult meal on a separate check (they were the ones to point it out to me).
1. Looooong wait times (literally waited an hour to be seated and get water and another hour plus to get our food) 2. They run out of food often 3. Small menuI can only blame myself for giving them a second chance! The only positive was the view (minus one guy getting so drunk he fell in his boat— talk about responsible bartenders) and our waitress was nice.
Wonderful ambiance! Beautiful patio seating right on the water! We were brought to our table promptly, and our server came quickly. She was very attentive! All 4 of our dinners were delicious! Mine was chicken quesadilla!! Yum! Also... Fierce Fish, Beef Dip, and Fish Tacos -- all fantastic!!
My first time eating there I had a terrible experience HOWEVER I went there today. We walked in and were the only ones there and were informed that they usually aren’t open on Tuesday but due to some kind of film festival or something they decided to open up. Our waiter was AMAZING. His name was Dean. He was really helpful. I had thought I had an issue with my food and he took it back right away. Turns out nothing was actually wrong and it was a misunderstanding. He was apologetic anyways and so was I. Our drinks and food were very good. My experience today made up for my previous experience. Dean really was great. I don’t normally write reviews but just because of him I decided to write this. Thank you for your service.
Incredible! They have great outdoor seating on the water and docks for those who prefer traveling to dinner by boat. They have an outdoor stage for live music and an indoor area as well. The food is good and the people are all super friendly. Everyone seems to know each other there. It is a very fun place to grab a meal.
Stopped in last night to meet some co-workers for a night out. The renovations of the place came out beautiful. The outside music band was a huge plus. The band was spectacular and we loved the music. Hostess (Trinity) was sweet. She smiled and greeted us in a friendly way. We told her we were going to sit at the bar and she told us to enjoy ourselves. At the bar two very nice, cheerful & attentive bartenders (Jen and Alexis) made great drinks and their service was tremendous. We were hesitant on visiting because of the nagative things we heard about how long you have to wait for your food and the lack of table service. Friends of ours told us to sit at the bar if we wanted good service so we shall upon return. Not knowing what to expect we already had dinner prior to our arrival but we will definitely be back very soon to try some delicious food. We had a great experience! To the Owners, thank you for adding a new and hip place to the lake! We hope you succeed!
Never again. We waited 45 minutes to be seated. On our way to our table, the hostess tells us we are very busy and understaffed so you might want to order something fast and easy to prepare like pizza or one of the wraps Are you kidding me? We sat at our table and it took 13 minutes for our server to greet us. We gave him our choices for dinner and then waited another 25 minutes for our appetizer to come out but it did not. Only our dinner entrees were served which were not that great. Then we get our bill and our server forgot to delete the appetizer that we never received.
One star for the location and views. The rest was horrible. They said it was an hour wait, but we counted at least 15 tables empty. I asked what about those tables and the response was they for the people waiting. So we said well wait at the bar and have a drink. Walked out after 15 minutes of standing there and the bartender just walking around and not taking orders. Save your self go anywhere else it will be better. Oh BTW Ive been there twice. Both times the ambulance was call.... coincidence ?
The food is good and the service is good, at first.... Then you will wait what seems like a lifetime for your food, which will be small portions. Go long before you are hungry, or go somewhere else. I want to add that there was no wait when we were there and it wasnt very busy at all, yet the food took for ever to come out. We wont be back. Its embarrassing to bring guests on our boat and to a restaurant like this. The manager wasnt nice at all when I asked. She was defensive and didnt seem to care. Leaving this review after having the same experience 3-4 times.
At first it seems like the restaurant is kind of in the middle of nowhere but sitting at the bar overlooking the lake was a very great experience. The food was amazing and they had live music playing when I went. Its still cold out as of writing this but the outdoor section seems like the perfect place to hang out on nice summer nights. Great experience overall and I will be definitely coming back!
Waited over an hour for appetizers and another for the entree. The food was terrible with the calamari being undercooked and the wings being underwhelming. The burger lacked flavor and was cooked well done instead of medium rare. The place is understaffed and the wait staff did their best to accommodate us which was the only positive. If kitchen nightmares was still on the air this restaurant would be there.
The setting is beautiful, the ambience is great, the food okay, but it took an hour and a half to get dinner....and we only ordered 4 hamburgers !!!! Apologies from the waitress but no drinks on us no snacks on table for a wait this long! Ridiculous! weve been here several times, management complains about waitstaff and waitstaff complains about kitchen.....it would be nice to have someone respond to the negative comments, not just the positive because customers are complaining!!!!
Great location. Great food fantastic service. They are going to try to stay open all year. Considering the clientele around here I wish them luck. Theres a reason we have few, if any, decent places around here, and its the locals that dont support any new restaurant or business and then complain about there not being any restaurants and businesses. I will go once a week as long as they stay open. The new pizzas are great. Come and enjoy greenwood lake during peeper season. No better place for views and good food and drink. Its amazing that people will sit in traffic for two hours to get way less. Its a fine place, try it!
Terrible service and overpriced food. Waitress asked us if we wanted to sit in the corner outside for the view. After we said yes and she sat us, the manager walked over and said the table was reserved in 40 minutes for the owner. We moved to a different table and ordered food and drinks at the same time since it took about 15 min for the waitress to even come over to us. It took another 20 min just to get our drinks and then 40 minutes in the cold to get our food-which was literally just a burger and pizza. I would’ve left after we ordered, but we were both starving and wanted to eat before our long drive home. Once the food came I asked for the check since I knew that would take forever. Looking around the restaurant everyone seemed displeased and no one had their food. Clearly the owner doesn’t care about her customers at all. If you want a view, go to the other side of the lake and save your time and money.
Food delicious, beautiful property. Not child friendly. No kids menu, no plastic cups and even though we were guaranteed a high chair they placed us at a high top table with tall chairs. Were not willing to accommodate any changes. Maybe a good restaurant for couples but not family with young child. Our was 3 years old.
My husband & I just returned from having a TERRIBLE experience at your restaurant. My order was screwed up twice! Never received a corrected order! Had to ask twice for salt & pepper. Had to ask twice for water. Sat & watched my husband finish his dinner. Still did not receive a corrected order. No one asked me if I wanted another class of wine. No one asked me if I wanted anything. We finally asked for the bill. The waitress apologized & said she asked the manager if we could get a discount. The manager said, No. The waitress was very apologetic. We both agreed that I should at least have been offered a glass of wine on the house! So, here I sit...eating dinner that I made myself at 7:00 p.m. All hopes of a nice dining experience by the water were ruined by the Cove Castle Restaurant. Thanks a lot!
I dont normally write a negative review of a place based on one visit, but this is my fourth time here and every time it takes forever to get food from the kitchen. I dont blame the wait staff who are always courteous and pleasant. Are they trying to get more drinks out of us? I cant tell. And while the restaurant is nice and the view tremendous, the food is just mediocre at best.
Fabulous location. Decent menu. However the wait for service and the wait for just about every part of your meal will probably irk you. They also need to invest in sone better lighting on the deck. I think most people enjoy being able to see what they are about to eat.
Before we went there we heard that the food was great but the service was terrible. I agree completely with that statement.Very nice view and good food. The service is far from good. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table, there were 6 other people there and 4 people were waiting for service. There were two bartenders, virtually no customers, but we couldnt get a drink.Once at the table, the wait service was very slow and hard to come by. The waiter had a huge number of tables and kept disappearing. We couldnt get service when we needed it. We couldnt get service when we didnt. What made it worse was that the waiter was slowly walking around like he had all the time in the world, but all the customers were trying to find him. People around us were talking about the slow service, so it wasnt just in my head.
Went there for lunch with my husband while boating on Greenwood Lake, and ordered fish tacos for $14 and French dip that was supposed to be prime rib for $18. First the tacos were listed under the regular meals and we received only 2 tacos with a stale inner taco shell....nothing else...no sides. We did get fries with the French dip which was honestly the best thing we ate. The meat on the French dip was not prime rib but dried, very well done out full of grizzle deli roast beef. We were really looking forward to going there and were very disappointed. Had planned on booking a Chefs table event but decided against it now. And the menu was pretty limited.
Cove castle food was amazing! Service was great staff was great ! Owner of this place should really pat himself on the back for running such a fantastic business! After we got our food we left on our boat and the engine died luckily cove castle answered the phone and towed us back at 11:30 at night honestly couldn’t thank them enough Bobby and Justin you are the best !
Beautiful venue, and decent service. However, the food was awful, tasteless and expensive. We had drinks and an appetizer. I got the crab cakes and my husband got calamari. 2 small bland crab cakes on hearts of palm that was absolutely tasteless cost $14. My husbands calamari was bland, rubbery and had what he believes was jar sauce on the side. We were incredibly disappointed because it was a beautiful place. Wont be returning
The location is 5 stars and the food is 1 star. Great on-the-lake location .Unfortunately, thats where the great ends . It took over an hour for my 3-year olds kids pizza to come out .And it looked like it was made by a 4-year old. My wife had the four cheese pizza which just tasted like a big ball of blue cheese. My steak sandwich was lite on steak and tasted like it was on a grilled ery store roll. Really wanted to like this place because of the location right on the lake. We will not be back.
We specifically made a reservation IN ADVANCE for 10 adults and 5 children. When we arrived, we were seated at bar height tables in a bar area, not a dining area. They had no high chair tall enough to reach the table, no booster seat, and were frankly rude about it.Food took FOREVER to be served, including kids meals. The children were crying that they were starving. One member of our party ordered an item from the menu. After everyones food came out, the server came by and said, by the way, I was just told by the kitchen we dont have that menu item today. After all that time you realize you dont have something? For some strange reason, hostess was staring us down like we were being too loud or something. It felt like our party of 15 (that spent close to $700 with tip) was a total inconvenience for them.No beer on tap, no pitchers of soft drinks. Hugely disappointed.
Had lunch w family late Sat 4/29 afternoon. Service was slow w no attentiveness to drinks. Special was Fish & Chips. Asked before ordering if had cocktail sauce & was told yes. Two of us ordered Fish & Chip. Was served by owner without cocktail sauce or tarter. Asked owner for cocktail sauce & said he wld be right back ( never returned). Asked waitress for cocktail sauce. Told several times it was coming. Never came nor did anyone ( including owner ) have courtesy to tell us they didnt have. Not sure how you have Fish & Chips as a Special and not have cocktail and tarter sauce. Fish & Chips was mediocre at best. Sterling Forest burger was very good and Chicken Parm dinner average. Restaurant was not overly busy at the time. Seemed a lot of confusion, not well organized as if just recently opened. Great location with outdoor seating on the lake. Will give another try at some point- but fairly disappointed.
My family and I ate here last summer and the food and service was remarkable, out of this world!Fast forward to today: 730pm seating, wasnt until 745pm that our order was taken. We ordered 3 appetizers and 7 main dishes. They did not have any beer on tap, only bottles (2 lite beers, a couple IPAs and Fat Tire). Waitress seemed clueless. Needless to say, we waited 30min before we had to see where our apps were, all we received were excuses about how busy things are and how backed up the kitchen was. This went on for 2hrs. We finally received our apps after 2hrs but still could not receive a clear answer on the main dishes. 3 kids (8 and under) were falling asleep at the table and just wanted to leave, could not blame them. We eventually requested a cancellation on the check. We walked out of there paying only for the apps and drink received. The whole experience was mind blowing. The kitchen and staff should be prepared to handle busy nights. Plan that every night would be a busy and hectic night, plan for the worst. They were strictly unprepared and full of excuses. Almost laughed off the situations, like a rehearsed script. Will probables never return.
Went to meet a friend of mine about 10:30 waited 10 minutes for someone to come to the outside bar to serve me a drink. After going inside the 2 waitresses and/or bartenders were engulfed in conversation with a patron and forgetting about the outside customers looking for drinks not cool..The man was still playing at this point in time..When I met Them at the outside bar they were not too pleased that I called them away from their conversation..But who am I someone that would not recommend someone hanging out at outside bar maybe bring your own on your boat and enjoy the music.
They are overwhelmed. Told 20 minute wait, an hour later we were told another 45. Complained there were empty tables inside, they said oh- youll sit inside? They have no clue. NOT professionally managed. Haphazard at best. Havent gotten my food yet so cant tell you how it is. Wont be back.
First time here based on recommendation by a friend, who joined me. Lake side is nice but the $20 chicken parmesan dinner was just plain not good at all. Spaghetti side undercooked and enough sauce just to color it, chicken was overcooked, also barely sauced. Beer not cold enough for sure. Very disappointed. Service was good. To be fair my friend thinks it decent, but his last trip to Tokyo he would only eat McDonalds so theres that lol.
We have been to this restaurant several times over its three year existence. It continues to be a very frustrating experience. You would think by now they would have a manager overseeing the table service. Not the case.It took two hours for meals, and staff spent most of the time apologizing to all the tables they were serving. Both the kitchen and staff have no idea what they are doing. The food is ok but not memorable and limited choices. If able go elsewhere.
I came to here for live music and dinner after work one night. Immediately upon passing the threshold the cares of my day slipped away. With the lake in view, and a brew in hand its hard to be anything but relaxed in this rustic chic interior. We waited a while for our food, but didnt mind a bit. I was very pleased with my burrata appetizer and burger.
Had a small problem with my delicious meal and the actual owner of the restaurant overheard me saying something to my friend and came and fixed it. The staff is devoted to you having a very good time and enjoying your meal to the highest extent. Drink specials are also delicious!!!
Avoid on weekends. Chronic understaffing means horrible waits to get seated, to get drinks and to get food, as many reviews indicate. Manager told us in 2018 season that they were having trouble hiring people because (illegal) immigrants are scared of ICE. Um, okay. When I asked why don’t they pay staff more the response was they would have to jack up food prices too high. Seems like some equilibrium between supply and demand could be found. Oh, yeah, food. Good by lake standards.
Service is extremely slow, and staff is apathetic at best however it seems that the issue is with management. we returned after being burnt the first time we gave them the benefit of the doubt that it was just a busy night were after waiting for over an hour when we were told it would be about 30 minutes there was no end in sight so we had to leave after our night was completely ruined. On our second try we waited just shy of an hour for an afternoon lunch. The food was decentbut not worth the wait. Our server tried to make excuses and I felt bad for himhowever they didnt even bother to try to make up for it by copying us for the one drink that I ordered.basically I really hope the place gets better because its a nice atmosphere but I just dont see it happening.
We have been here many of times, every time you come the service and food get worse. Not the waitress fault she was the only one on the shift with 17 tables, yes I counted, for the record I never write reviews. Waited 20 mins for drinks 20 min for silver ware food was cold and its been 32 min waiting for a check. Would not recommend at all.
The unhurried Friday night pace was appreciated, given the sublime weather. The Babe Ruth steak sandwich was prepared with fresh ingredients, including a curry-spice rub, but still managed to come off as a tad too subtle in flavor. That said, well be back, as the prices are just right to bring in a sophisticated foodie crowd with an appreciation for a great lake view.
First off there was absolutely no alcohol in our lemon drop martinis! Food is awful they had a gumbo special that was not gumbo but a loose bad tasting soup with sausage. I had the chicken Milanese and the chicken was processed and didnt even taste like chicken over a salad that just consisted of arugula with really bad lemon dressing. Didnt stay for desert. I dont recommend this awful food!
Waited 40 minutes for a table just to find out they crossed us off the wait list; NO APOLOGY. We were then rushed to a table that hadnt been bussed yet. Ordering our food it took 20 minutes for us to get our drinks, another 30 for the appetizers and not even 10 minutes later our entree was out which cause our table to become cramped. chicken sandwich was burnt and smothered in mayo to try and hide it. Waiter never came to check to see how everything was until we were finished. Will not be back.
Waited over an hour for a table, then waited almost an hour for my order, but the appetizers came quick (empanadas)...unfortunately they were cold in the middle. The food was not terrible, but I cant say it was good, and definitely not worth waiting almost an hour for!
Closer to four stars as the food is good and the view is fantastic. However every time I go there you wait for everything!! Drinks, yes a wait. Food, yes a wait. Check, yes a wait. Check to come back, yes a wait. Hour for food, no appetizers. Take away the extremely long wait, goes to 4.5 stars!
Had a nice bite of an ant salad today. Felt something clinging to my tongue and picked it off and it was an ant carcass. They took forever to serve a granola bowl. Blamed it on cutting up the fruit. Somehow making a pizza to bring out first way before anything else to sit and get cold while we wait for a freaking granola bowl happened. I’m not sure if management has changed since we had a high school graduation two years ago - we called ahead to make sure they were open for six people at nine o’clock and were told the kitchen was open till 10 and we get there and they said we made a reservation for nine people and we were too late...I am so tired of being disappointed by lethargic lame service. This area has so much potential and it continues to be staffed by people who will never reach it. You’re welcome for the four stars. I hope you guys finally get it together.
I called in to order a pick up dinner, was told I had another hour to place to place an order so I called back within 5 minutes with my order and was then told they are no longer doing pick up orders and was very rude about it. Emerald came in for the win for delicious food, highly recommended going to emerald than here.
Really great place and nice view but the service relative to how long you have to wait for food is insane. I can understand when they first opened but now months later still the same. Under staffed and really ridiculous honestly. Go for a drink....forget about eating. Sad.
I gave this place a second try after being so frustrated last summer with the slowest service imaginable we left. This time we opted for just the bar and cold drinks. Seventeen minutes of trying to get the barmaids attention, short of setting myself on 🔥 we left again. Never ever to return.
Very dissatisfied with food & service. This was 2nd time we have had bad service here. This was our last time. Had wait well over hour for our food. Staff is unfriendly. It is real shame too because they hv a nice place location on lake w a view. But they need better management. We will not be back!
Well you show up with 14 people for dinner and aparently your not allowed in because we have a cooler boat than their bar.. 14 hungry people now have to make a ride down to Emerald point, the helm, or breezy to eat... Not a far ride for better service and probably better food!
Amazing; Storm came in and Andrea (Manager ) rescued everything from People to glass, plates, possible missile umbrellas. Thus I felt this is what makes America Great......She is a warrior . Brittney waitress so cool. Food Outstanding ...White caps on a docile lake out of nowhere. Andra and staff prepared for anything I tell ya ...Fun place. To belabour point, this Storm was Posiden caliber and watching this group fight force of nature whilst serving Great,Great Great. Cove Castle I work at a rival restaurant but truth is we all learn from one another ....Hope so .... We EAMONN
This place is horrible! I waited for over a half an hour to order a drink, they told us it would be an hour for a table to eat and after an hour they said it was definitely up to a 3-hour wait! They are severely understaffed and extremely disorganized. In my opinion you should go to the Emerald Point up the road.
Went for dinner last night there was a wedding upstairs restaurant was overwhelmed waited two hours and never got served our dinner after 1 hour we got an appetizer manager did not offer any accommodation after I complained left restaurant without eating dinner. Customers who arrived after us got their meals before us not sure if Id ever go back
FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. ATMOSPHERE WAS GREAT. SERVICE LEFT A LOT TO BE DESIRED. IT WAS A BUSY AFTERNOON. WE ORDERED THE EASIEST ITEMS ON THE MENU. FRIED CALAMARI N PIZZA.MY CALAMARI ARRIVED. WE ATE IT N SAW OUR PIZZA GIVEN TO ANOTHER TABLE THAT WAS SEATED AFTER US. WE WAITED FOR ANOTHER 45 MINS FOR THAT PIZZA. WE GOT IT ONLY BECAUSE WE ASKED.WE TRIED TO SPEAK TO SPEAK TO A FEMALE ASSISTANT MANAGER ABOUT AN ISSUE N SHE WAS TOTALLY RUDE. WE LEFT VERY DISAPPOINTED....THIS WAS OUR 2ND TIME AT THIS BEAUTIFUL WATERFRONT PLACE. NOT SURE WE ARE COMING BACK.
Went there today for lunch. The service was horrible. We sat there for half and hour and no one came to take our order not even bring us water. Clearly they think that being on the water is enough that they can offer bad service. After another five minutes we got up and left
What a joke of a restaurant / bar. No beer on tap after being open a year 10.00 plus for a mix drink and warm bottled beer without a glass. Then a 14.00 appetizer with two small crab cakes. Then a 45 min wait for a burger!? The owners are seriously deliounal about what the have here. This is orange county ny not Westchester, uptown Manhattan or upper saddle river. We get it you have a spot on the water but thats not enough. Good luck.

2022-05-21Great location on the water. Unique historic building with multiple dining areas - something for everyone. Super friendly staff and management. Dinner was very good and priced fairly. Well definitely be back, especially for the live music, soon.

2021-07-07Great food for the prices. Nice drive doesn’t even feel like you’re in NJ/NY if you’re from northern Jersey like I am or the City. Live music on the weekends is great sometimes a little too loud where you have to talk over everything, however if you have to that means everyone else has to as well which means everyone is hearing every conversation happening. Great views of the lake.

2022-04-23The view is lovely but I went at 430 PM on a Saturday afternoon and took out takeout. Paid $29 for a fish and chips entree and all you get is three pieces of fish flavored batter. The fish was the size of a children’s chicken nugget—5That is just really wrong. Cole sale condiment was more food than the fish. Avoid this dish.

2022-05-31Had a great Saturday night with friends. Music was amazing albeit a tad loud. Portuguese wine was great. Chicken skillet with sausages was tasty and the Brussel sprout appetizer was really good and enough for three people.

2022-06-06Environment was beautiful. There was live music that wasnt too loud that you can still hear your conversation. The food was good. Service was friendly though slow.

2022-05-22Third and final time that my family and I would be going to this restaurant. We came in earlier today with a party of 9 to sit outdoors. We love the view from our previous visits and glad they can accommodate us. Once we sat down it all went downhill. First we waiting about 10 minutes for our waitress to approach us. Mind you it was not busy! She does not greet herself and having experience with this same waitress before (which was horrendous), we were hoping it would be better this time around. WRONG!! Still dont know her name, she took our food orders and was about to walk away without taking our drink orders. We waited I kid you not a solid 10 minutes for water and the rest our drinks (beers and soda) came with our food another 10ish minutes later. Mind you we had at least 9 plates of food! Our sodas were incorrect and we had to swap amongst ourselves to keep everyone happy as legit we would probably never see the waitress again with the right drink! There were also several issues with our food to the point we werent even hungry. Then she proceeds to look at the table and never ask how our food was or if we needed refills (which we did so we had to make her notice). We got more help from the poor food runner girl!!!!! My dad loves IPAs and needed one and it took her longer to bring it back! By the time we were done eating, the refill of the beer finally came. When we ask for the check, I never saw her move that fast during the entire time we were there!!!! Also, shoutout to the manager or whoever that came up to us and my mom explained our entire situation and with a genuine response he said he apologized and would see if he could do anything about it! NOTHING WAS DONE!!! ENJOYABLE VIEW BUT HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!
