Cowgirl in other cities:
Popped into Cowgirl for some icy margaritas on a hot day. Kayleigh our bartender was great to us and attentive with providing different options. The Pulled Pork Quesadillas were delicious. The frozen margaritas were more flavorful than the rocks style margaritas. Basic margarita menu. The decor is funky and fun with plastic ponys in the windows. Back bar out back if it gets too crowded.
I know I know.... people love this place. For its interior and cool Texas-like authentic ambiance. Please go! It’s fun to look at the walls showered with all the cowgirl stuff.Food, creative and thematic. What stood out? These nachos cooked in actual bag. Hmmm not sure what to do with it. Eat it or just look at it?
Fun spot. My friend and I came here at the last minute, and we were not disappointed. We were seated outside, but we got to take a look around the interior. The inside is really cool, it’s a Wild West theme. As far as the meal went, I got the pulled pork sandwich. I enjoyed it, but the tater tots are where it’s at. They’re so good, don’t hesitate to get them with your meal. I’d also recommend getting the 32 oz (or whatever the biggest size is) Tito’s and lemonade. I don’t even know if you get your money’s worth, but it’s awesome to have your own huge jug of alcohol. I need to come back here and have some more tater tots and Tito’s!
Decided to share this gem with my husband since this was his first trip to NYC. The appetizers are plentiful, so be sure to save room for the main course. Ive always enjoyed the Frito Pie, but we tried the artichoke fritters. The chopped beef sandwich is full of flavor, but not chopped enough. The chunks were more than bite size, which made the sandwich a difficult to eat at times. The Root Beer Float never disappoints and Dr. Pepper is served here! Its just what my husband needed . The service was okay. We had a booth in the back next to a party of 12 people. It was slightly difficult to get out the booth, but thats NYC for ya. Its a must visit for sure.
Omg I was on a fried chicken spree a few weeks ago and somebody recommended the cowgirl... well if you are a salad kinda gal this is not the place for you because the plates are just like Texas big and hearty and the chicken is delicious. Big bonus for me is the fact that they cater to younger kids
NYC does a lot of food well. Basically everything but southwestern and Mexican. This restaurant is no exception. The Tex Mex feel of the place is fun, but the food is simply not good. NYC needs some good southwestern Green Chili and real southwestern Mexican fare in such a serious way.
I’m sad I have to leave two stars for this place because I really enjoyed the food and our server was amazing, but the host? trash. We came in last night around 7:30, dropped about $180 between the three of us. Around 9:30 we were trying to get our tab paid because there was a shop we wanted to get to before it closed at 10. It was a busy night, and not too many servers were on staff, so when it was taking a while for them to pick up our check and run our cards, my friend took it to the host up front and just kindly asked if he would run our cards. We certainly weren’t rude with our request. He responded to her saying, “You guys sat here all night and NOW you have somewhere to be?” So unbelievably rude. It honestly ruined the whole experience, made us feel unwelcome, and turned my five-star review into a two-star review. Kindness goes a long way and this guy needs to learn that. So I guess if you want to be shamed for spending $180 and taking up a table for two hours (a normal amount of time for dinner), Cowgirl is your kind of place.
During the freezing cold weather, we were sitting by a side door exit; there is the main door a few steps away. We requested to keep the side door closed, as it was freezing and it was frequently being opened and closed for no urgent reason. One of the workers came out and purposely held the door open upon our request. They were extremely rude.Food requires major improvement too. Dont waste your time and money. Go elsewhere.
Went to dinner on a random Saturday night. It was a spontaneous choice since we had walked by the place and it looked cute. Atmosphere and service were very good. But it was incredibly expensive for the drinks/food combination we got. My friend and I each only had 2 vodka lemonades and 1 dinner and paid $140. The drinks werent made well and the food was not very good either, making it not worth the price. Overall, probably fine if you go during happy hour, but not worth it in my opinion to go outside of any type of deal/promotion window.
The food desert where I work, there isnt much to eat that is tasty and affordable. We have the standbys like Chipotle, McDonalds, Dos Toros, Pret, Shake Shack, Subway, and Hale and Hearty. But, some days you want something more and isnt a part of a chain. I saw this restaurant got a lot of good reviews so, my coworkers and I decided to order here for lunch. The food came on time and was made according to our order. Which was nice because a lot of times restaurants ignore the comments section. I ordered the chicken lunch and a side of pecan pie. I was surprised the chicken lunch was popular because it was rather tasteless. The chicken, mash potato, and the giant single piece of broccoli had no salt or even seasoning. The gravy didnt even add flavor but had the taste and consistency of flour mixed with water to make a paste. Five other people ordered the same thing I did and they all said it needed more flavor and it tasted like bland diet food. The pecan pie (forgot to take a photo) came with whipped cream but, it was a tiny slice where all the pecan was just hanging out on the side and nothing on the actual slice. Two stars for delivery and zero stars for this regrettable lunch.
Intensely average - we got the corn dog poppers which were good but our main meals were under-seasoned and bland. We got the chicken fried chicken and ordered the fried chicken sandwich but received the BBQ chicken sandwich instead. They did have an issue with service because they sent our food to the wrong table and had to remake it but the waitress was wonderful and apologetic and gave us free guac on the house for the inconvenience. So despite the mix up the service was good. But the food was overall so disappointing :(
I get why people come here, probably more for the social than the food, it is family friendly too which is why we picked it! Service was great but got Food poisoning the next morning from the room temperature Tex Frito Dish! Smh stay safe and order the Fresh Guac don’t experiment wit this menu or your body will pay for it…
Was only there waiting for someone to go to dinner. It was a festive environment and the patrons and bartenders were very friendly.People actually dressed in cowboy gear showed up for a private party in the back room, which was quite intimate. Thats good to know theres space for it.
Absolutely tasteless. Used to come here but no salt or pepper or ANY seasoning or flavor whatsoever. We called and the woman we spoke with refused to offer any remedy at all. Terrible food, terrible service,Terrible experience. Will never be back and I hope anyone who reads this will decide to choose another restaurant. Lisa was the person on duty and basically told us that sucks too bad and we don’t want to resolve this and has clearly ignored other reviewers who also complained of no flavor or salt. I hope the owners heed this warning or they won’t stay in business
I was able to make a reservation with ease. Clean environment. Tables spaced appropriately for covid. Excellent service. Delicious food and drinks. Went on my one night in NYC to meet up with a friend from college. He eats there regularly. Live in Texas, so honestly I had low expectations. I thought what would a restaurant in New York know about Mexican food. Proved me wrong!
I love this place! Walked by so many times before coming in and regret not eating here sooner! Been here three times in the last 10 days. Brunch! Fun drinking Friday and Saturday. And I love being here for Sunday dinners. Staff makes you feel like you are a regular. They actually care about how you’re enjoying dinner! Love it. Go. So good. Amazing bloodys!!!
I came here on weekday with my girl friend. We were here for an hour and half. The drinks were good. I had house margarita and she had a bourbon cocktail. Chips and salsa was good was well. We loved our main course of vegetarian enchiladas. Service could have been a little better. One of the waitress came and told us that we may have to move to porch or bar as the place might fill out soon. It was tuesday evening 7pm and we could easily see three empty tables around us. Besides our table was never empty and we kept placing orders regularly.
The staff is great. The margaritas are awesome but the food is ok. Its nothing special for the prices. Its very bland and sometimes salty. I have been here 3 times because my friends enjoy it but I have not had great luck with their food. The fried pickles and okra are VERY salty. The chicken fried steak and chicken are both bland. The catfish sandwich is also bland and needs more seasonings. I dont hate it but if you go here only go for their fabulous drink.
Fantastic place. The frozen margaritas with pop rocks in them are hilarious. Excellent catfish dishes. The Western chicken was a bit dry but it was tasty. Wait staff are very helpful. The place is actually quite big with rooms for live music and a pinball machine lounge, a regular bar and a little shop of Western trinkets.
I was visiting from out of town and my family member who is local recommended the Cowgirl for lunch. We both had the mixed up salad with chicken, it was FANTASTIC!! And if you like a lot of food this seemed bottomless, it was forever before reaching the bottom of the bowl. Friendly staff 🙂
John at the bar is a friend of mine, as the saying goes. Maybe Billy J confused his Italian restaurant with this classic W Village spot? One of my favorite places to visit over the years. I come here for a quiet lunch at the bar at least once a month and have never been disappointed. Legit south Texas food, good beer on tap, fantastic music, and good service from, yes, John at the bar.
I love this place!Very fun atmosphere...just campy enough and feels lived in and comfortable.Amazing, friendly, and attentive staff.Great food! I especially love the chicken fried chicken. And their brunch is fantastic. All very reasonably priced for the neighborhood. Excellent value, really.Highly recommended.
I love this place!! They have a really good happy hour and the staff was more than accommodating. They were so pleasant and nice and the frozen margarita wasnt too sweet. Very impressed with the rose as well - I would assume a happy hour rose wouldnt be very good but it was light and delicious! My friend even spilled her entire drink by bumping it off the table and they were nice enough to give her a new one free of charge. Great place!
Odd, as a traveling manager I’ve worked in the Village for the past 5 years. Simply by word of mouth I’ve suggested to tourist, friends and family, to go to Cowgirl for lunch or dinner. My first time here and unfortunately I didn’t feel welcomed. As I’m typing this I finally get a smile and it wasn’t in reference to anything pertaining my order. Anyway — sorry but it wasn’t the best experience. I’m sure the food will be great I hear great things.Spoke too soon. They’re $13 Veggie Chilli was topped with cheddar cheese and sour cream. That defeats the purpose. Anyway I won’t be back.
One of the best neighborhood restaurants in West village. The pulled pork nachos are delicious, corn meal fried fish is amazing, the ice cream desserts will make you dream of sweets. The staff is always nice and friendly and the space very cool with a fun decor with ever changing window props. Great for locals, tourists should pay double tip!😆
Its usually empty but that doesnt make the wait staff not treat you like youre waisting their time. Good margs. Over priced. Strange layout makes it hard for a place to just grab a beer and chat with friends. I hear its good for kids parties and usually has children running around the back. Decent food, but definitely more of a bar. They dont even have good salsa come with the chips - so dropped a star for that.
The restaurant was busy. I thought we would have a long wait but the hostess seated us immediately. The bacon wrapped, shrimp stuffed jalapenos were incredible. The French fries were from real potatoes. The burger was thick and perfectly cooked. The blood Orange margarita filled the pitcher to the top.
A very family friendly brunch option with pretty good food too. We got there when they opened at 10 on a Sunday so they werent crowded. We were able to take our time without feeling rushed by a crowd waiting. The eggs and biscuits were tasty, would recommend ordering the potatoes well done.
Showed up early for an open table reservation and asked for booth seating for two. Host would not allow it as she claimed that they were for parties of three or more. However right after I ordered, two women were allowed to sit in a booth. Not to mention that there was another booth open throughout the duration of my meal. I wish they would have been more accommodating. The chicken fried steak was the reason for my visit. Although the steak itself was fried well, the gravy was pretty bland. This strikes me more as a drinking establishment than a restaurant. Im guessing this food would have been better after a few drinks.Service was excellent but my issue with seating and the food was really disappointing.
Very cool place in the Village. This is the poster child of pub grub chic and well worth the few minutes wait for a table. In fact, we barely got our drink when told our table was ready. Great burgers and fries, nachos, etc. And great drinks, most importantly. Friendly service too.
Our favorite place in the neighborhood, were we have our best memories. Cowgirl is not just a restaurant/bar - its a home!Best frozen margaritas and nachos... and tator tots are perfect! If you want a nice hearty breakfast - huevos rancheros are seriously amazing and the biscuits are so buttery.Love the food and love the staff
Only stopped in here for brunch. Solid menu. Lots of breakfast and lunch options. We tried the pulled pork sandwich and the Mac and cheese and both were excellent. The plates are big so come hungry. Excellent Bloody Mary and margarita selection. Decent prices for Manhattan. Lots of kitschy junk on the walls. Decent service. Id probably come here again.
I recently returned to Cowgirl for the first time in a few years. I was not surprised to find that the food was delicious, the service great, and the atmosphere as fun as always. Make sure you get dessert. Cowgirl is famous for the ice cream baked potato sundae. An ice cream sundae that looks like a baked potato. It is just cute, Cowgirl uses high quality ingredients that comes through in every bite. Oh and did I mention, best onion rings ever!
Foreign Cinema is now one of my most favorite restaurants. Walking into the restaurant is just an experience in itself. You feels as though you are walking into a swanky movie theater. Once inside, you are surrounded by a romantic ambiance of candles and outside lights. There is both and indoor and outdoor seating area. Inside you can find the bar in the back where there are an assortment of different drinks available. You can order a meal at the bar or decide to dine at a table. The outdoor seating area plays a movie outside on the back of a building. This place has amazing character. The service is superb and my waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the large selection of wines. For my meal I had the pork chop which tasted amazing. I was looking forward to a dessert, but did not pace myself and was extremely full from my meal. Gents grab your ladies and take her to this fabulous restaurant. It well worth any wait.
I was in the private room in the back for a company gathering. The huge panes of glass on the storefront meant we had a lot of natural light; many points for that. The staff was super friendly. The food though was pretty average. The only non-alcoholic drink they offered besides soda was store-bought lemonade. Bummer.
Bartenders can be really slow, but overall this is a solid spot and one I go to again and again. Frito pie, queso, burgers are all top. Drinks are just right -- not too strong, not watered down and reasonably priced. Always playing good music. I like the retro lounge in the back. Huge portions on the food.
Love this place from the first time my friends introduced me. Highly recommend the catfish fingers, although everything Ive tried has been super tasty. Also, try the various flavored margaritas! Also, this place is much bigger than it seems. There are two dining areas and a semi-private lounging area aside from the main bar room, so this is a great place for a large group of people!
Always a great place to go with family or friends for comfort food southern-style. The music, decorations, staff, and most importantly the food are a great throw-back treat. Our group had the Chicken Friend Chicken with mashed and gravy; Southern Deep Fried Chicken with mashed and gravy; steak quesadilla; and the House Chopped Salad with grilled chicken. All were deemed to be terrific, hearty, and just the right thing!. Dessert was Blueberry/Peach Cobbler (shared) but it was big in size, and tasty to the tongue! Perfect end to a great southern meal!
Food is not going to blow you away, but its still pretty good. I really liked their catfish fingers, and got that along with a couple of vegetables. The decor is kitschy but cute enough. Our waitress was a little weird last time I was there and rarely checked back. I would go back if my friends wanted to or maybe if I was right around the area, but its nothing I would go out of my way to eat again. I think the southern food they serve is better than the Mexican-inspired dishes.
I had lunch here with family members. Place was clean and staff were friendly. The food was good and I liked that they offered crayons for children to color on placemats - keeps them entertained. Pricing was moderate. If youre looking for a quick bite, I would recommend it.
Ribs and chicken were a little dry, though the catfish fry was great, as was the childs cheeseburger and pork chops. Highly recommend the fried artichokes and rattlesnake bites, so long as you dont have an aversion to spicy food. Good selection of drinks and beers, even a little store that sells all kinds of classic candies cheap. Candy buttons, bubble gum cigarettes, Pop Rocks, and more. Service is great, actually asked how everything was when noone had food in their mouth.
Youll notice the delightful decor when you first walk in. A lot of Wild West memorabilia cover the walls. The food was delicious and the portions huge (its practically two meals; Im small). The cornflake fried chicken had a hint of heat and was satisfyingly crispy. The waitress was friendly and attentive, but not to the point of being a helicopter.
I always say the food has to be worth the calories and and Cowgirls usually peppy friendly service with food that seemingly hit the spot. This has been our Sunday Brunch spot for awhile now and everyone in the group has settled on their favorite and always extra order of biscuits. The grits are creamy buttery that probably I can eat more than I should. The chopped salad could easily be shared and the lemon poppy seed vinaigrette is delicious. I usually stick with the Southerner while others go with the Northerners. Just like the country the table is divided but in this case just whether to bacon or not.Cowgirl is a solid brunch spot but than Im sure it is good for dinner also which Ill have to try one of these days
My friend and I stumbled upon this place one night walking around in NYC after walking away from another restaurant HUNGRY, due to a 2.5 hour wait! Hell no I aint waiting that long to eat!So we ventured off in the West Village and saw the extraordinary displays of interior decorations through Cowgirls window. The christmas light decor with the old 1950s style santa and reindeer really caught my attention and reminded me of my grandmas house on Christmas when I was a kid! I was intrigued what it was, and saw it was a restaurant! Being hungry as we were, my friend and I looked at each other and was like, LETS TRY IT!To our surprise, we were seated right away, even though the placed looked busy! The menu was great and exactly what we were craving! Fatty, southern, fried food! Oh man, my mouth waters just thinking about the amount of calories we ate that night....if only we could eat like that and still look fit...haha.- Frito Pie - never even heard of this, but apparently it was a texas tradition. I am always down for trying something new and I am so glad we got it! It was actually served in an opened Fritos bag (we hoped it was cleaned before being plated...haha), and topped with beef brisket chili and cheese, sour cream and jalapenos. Yum! Definitely recommend this!- Rattle Snack Bites - which are roasted jalapeňos stuffed w/grilled shrimp and wrapped in bacon served with cowgirl ranch dressing. Omg! Yum! This is another highly recommended dish! Never had such a dish and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Shrimp was cooked amazingly well and the char on each piece added a lot to this dish. I usually dont like ranch, but it paired well!- Chicken Fried Chicken - this really hit the spot! My friend was craving mac and cheese so we subbed the mashed potatoes for mac and cheese. Definitely a must! Crispy outside, tender on the inside and the gravy just paired so well with each bite. Ugh, really wish I could eat this all the time, but Id die of a heart attack if I did. Super delicious as a guilty pleasure once in awhile. =) Mac and cheese was good too, wish there was more of a crisp/burnt cheese, but it was good.- We also got a Mexican pork soup, I forgot was it was called, but it was very delicious! My friend and I shared everything and also enjoyed Dr. Pepper floats! It was amazing haha. But overall, I really enjoyed my experience here and the service was excellent! Ambience is quite a mix of stuff, but it worked well together. haha.I would love to come back here again when I want to get a fix of southern fried food!
Ive been going to Cowgirl on and off since the 90s but hadnt been there in several years... I got married 4 yrs ago and just hadda show this place to my better half and also I had a great desire for my favorite item; Chicken Fried Chicken 😋 needless ta say, it was like going back to Grand-mas house... Nothings changed, it still has that same retro country singer style charm and that little candy counter that takes me back to 14 years old... We both love it!
Fun atmosphere and decor -- especially liked the antler chandeliers. Ive tried the prickly pear margarita and All Day Hayride. Both drinks were a bit sweet for my taste, but you cant argue with a $5 Happy Hour special.Havent been there to eat yet, but I hope to go back and try it out soon!
My bf took me to Cowgirl after mentioning that I had never had chicken fried steak before. The place was not crowded but after being seated for over 30 minutes I had to get up and find someone to take our order. We both ordered chicken fried steak BUT they brought us chicken fried chicken over 30 minutes later. Nuff said. 😡😡
Had a great experience at first, staff was extremely friendly, greeted us at the door and we chose to sit at a bar table. Drinks were reasonably priced and the bar tender was very pleasant and helpful. We decided to order a sandwich to split, and that’s when our experience went downhill. When our food arrived, the blonde woman who brought it (unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to ask her name) called the dish out by name, and became hostile when I nodded rather than choosing to verbalize my confirmation of the food order, as my significant other was finishing a phone conversation, we were out of town and checking in on things at home. Before she would set the food down she raised her voice and yelled “YES???” Twice in my face as I was nodding in confirmation and finally I said “yes” to her and “thank you”. She then stormed off immediately. I’m not sure what happened to her that day to make her act so hateful, but it certainly couldn’t have just been my decision to nod “yes” rather than saying it out loud. I myself work in a service industry, and it is absolutely unacceptable to take out your bad day on customers. We were visiting from Virginia, as I used to live in New Jersey and my boyfriend had never been to New York City. This would have been a place we chose to visit at future trips back, but not with wait staff like that. She put a damper on the whole experience.
Great place for brunch in the West Village. Its to kitschy and entertaining. Cowgirls in NYC? This is a themed Tex-Mex restaurant and they do it well. Lots of families come here at the are happy. I got the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, white gravy, and grilled asparagus. It was a well rounded meal. The complimentary chips and black eyed peas salsa was amazing. Fun time. Id go again!
Excellent food. Very tasty. Unique home made salsas like black-eyed pea salsa.Decor tskes you back to little house on the prairie. My friend almost walked into chicken coup instead using the front door. Friendly service especially from the great bartenders Chris & Chris. Yes, you get s pair of Chris to boot. Oh, dont forget the quesadillas..they ate thick and full of cheese. Good cheese too not the stuff that comes out of plastic. They have a nice selection of tequila but quite expensive. Menu items reasonable. I would go if I were you. Rideem cowboy, eeerhhhaa!!!
A fine entry for comfort food and an active bar. High on the kitsch factor, you will never feel lonely or bored here. The atmosphere can be overpowering and at times incredibly loud, but the food does close the gap. Inventive names do not betray the quality of the food. A great place to celebrate with friends or have a fun start to a night.
I used to constantly go to this place through the 90s when I lived in Brooklyn.Finding out its still open is reason enough to book a flight!I still have my colorful cowboys off my many straws! (Ok so, that may be the best part for me - I mean I CAN get this food style in the South.)Great place to cheer up. Get a smile. Meet friends. Could use one of their cobblers and a Coke today.. :)
Cowgirl is home! It is this place in the neighborhood were we gather to celebrate, have fun, get some amazing tater tots and frozen margaritas. It is a true unpretentious west village spot that have everything for a good night out, birthday party or pride parade after party! My phone is filled with photos taken at cowgirl - blurry selfies, photos of friends laughing and endless memories.
The frozen margaritas here are delicious: the blood-orange was my favorite. The cherry margaritas were too sweet for me. Definitely recommend the sweet potato tater tots and the guacamole, and the nachos are decent. The kale salad was okay, but kinda dry. The mac and cheese was pretty weak. Overall, Id say go for drinks and a bar snack, but skip the full-on dinner, its overpriced and not that great. A fun spot, nonetheless.
I was underwhelmed at this restaurant. The decor was cheesy and even creepy at some points. The food was mediocre at best and the service was unbelievably slow. There was barely anyone in the restaurant and it took about 40 minutes to get our drinks. Maybe it was an off night but I dont think I will be back.
Ill be going to the cowgirl Hall of Fame for 20 years weve done a lot of birthday celebrations there great! They have one of those big dinner triangles that they ring in Klang and make a big Ruckus and then they come out with this ice cream dessert that looks just like an Idaho Potato delicious and everyone seems happy birthday
Cowgirl is a colorful bar-restaurant on the corner of W. 10th and Hudson St. Inside we discovered a fun Western decor with vintage photos of cowgirls. We were given a corner booth and each ordered yummy bowls of chicken tortilla soup and split a mixed salad. Service was friendly and fast.
I have such fond memories connected to the Cowgirl. It was the go-to after work spot for a bunch of my colleagues for several years. Its good Tex-mex and good drinks but something about the place was just FRIENDLY for us. We all just felt at home. Thats a rare and beautiful thing.
Had taken a friend here, from Binghamton, who both owned a horse named Cowgirl and also lived in Phoenix AZ for 23 years. How a propos, huh ? She was pretty happy here. The major factor was the lack of any big-city affectations, making her feel good. We stuck with bottled beer, a Margarita, an order of wings, and a Fritos pie. She enjoyed the country music in the background.Be looking for window changes that represent each season or holiday. Currently, in their window, is wanted posters, saying: COVID - Wanted Dead or Alive. Heres hoping by the time you read this, youll be able to sit here and nicely partake as we did.
The service is a bit hit and miss, but the frozen margs are great! I like the regular frozen marg with salt but another fave is the prickly pear. The food is just average, as mexican goes, but theres always a table for up to four. They do have this stupid rule about sitting outside - food only! Id be like, if you want to make money off me, let me drink outside as we can down way more $$ ahead of the next eat-only couple!!
They need to clarify their prices on the menu. The way it is worded does not specify that each add on is a separate add on. For example: the cowgirl burger has a add on of cheese and bacon. It does not say that each separate add on is 2.50. they should better specify especially when a customer questions it because it is confusing.
Cowgirl is a unique place, deserving of special attention in this review. Ive spent many afternoons belly up at this bar next to my luggage because I wasnt ready to check in till I had visited the Cowgirl. They are one of the few places I know of that serve corndogs, which incidentally are the best Ive ever had. They also make arguably the best frozen strawberry margarita Ive ever had (Rio Grande on the East side is close but the heavy concentration of underwhelming meat heads hurts it) and the beer selection is outstanding. There is simply no bad time to go here and they have an outdoor section on nice days. In short, thank you guys for all you do!!!
My 3yo daughter and I stumbled upon this gem while waiting for our play to start. From the menu of southwestern fare, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of flapjacks with fresh fruit and huevos mixeros with a buttermilk biscuit and cheddar grits. So good! The classic decor was filled with memorabilia. We colored a picture of Frida Kahlo while our food was being prepared and visited their tiny General store where my daughter chose a toy over a sweet. The staff was warm and engaging and we will definitely be back the next time we are in the area.
One of my favorite places in NYC. Love the frozen margaritas (try the blood orange) and TexMex fare, including Frito Pie, Chicken-Fried Steak, and towering piles of nachos. I prefer that sort of rumpus room in the back with the wood panelling and sofas. You can order food at the bar, and they will bring it to you there. Long may Cowgirl wave!
The food was okay, but the service was awful. The waiter was so rude and even added a tip on to our bill (we werent a group, we were a table of three). Then he proceeded to charge me and my two friends twice for our meals. When I called to talk to the manager, they didnt even care and said they would call me back three days from now? Poorly run and managed.

2022-04-14Stopped but this place on a busy Saturday night only to try their famous frozen margaritas. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available which is great in net York city. The lime margarita was amazing and they also have a bunch of other flavours. We also ordered the corn dog that was super crispy and delicious. The chips and guacamole were decent too. We also got the onion rings which again were super crispy. Definitely try the place if you love margaritas.

2022-05-20After a long and wonderful night, we decided to get something to eat for sustenance! The Cowgirls interior is so cute. There are pictures everywhere that line the walls with American Western related themes. The lights have antlers, and the restrooms have even more Western themed art! My favorite location was the back area in which theres a fireplace :) (unaware if its active). We had gotten their chili. He was raved about how delicious it was, and he wasnt wrong! Best chili in the city! I also had their tomato based spicy drink. It was delicious. Would definitely come again!

2022-03-22Called in on a Saturday afternoon for some nachos and a margarita. The frozen margaritas were at a happy hours price of $8 and pretty good. Nachos not a huge serving but very good. Excellent service.

2022-05-23There for a Group Birthday party-6 of us- and had a great time. 1950s and 1960s honky tonks vibe with lots of autographed pics of old country and western stars. If you have a large group ask if you can be in the lounge. Its a room that looks like an old cabin and has a couch, comfy chairs and a coffee table! The food and drinks are moderately priced. Although they were short-staffed they were efficient. There is outdoor dining as well. Lots of fun!

2022-03-12It was in a busy area and was packed. I felt like sardines. There was a group of 8 people at the left side of the room and another group right in the middle so walking anywhere was impossible. I understand why our waitress took long to serve us. My fiance and I wanted some fried chicken walking distance, so we ended up at Cowgirl. The portions were good that i ordered dessert! Chocolate brownie with ice cream on top. Overall experience, going on a week day instead. The place seems to have many areas to sit but tiny.

2022-03-20The brunch was spectacular. Their eggs and sausage are super fresh! The tater tots are awesome! The huge biscuit they throw on top was warm and tasty. Cowgirl is an awesome place for brunch! Wait staff was A+++

2022-02-27Decent, unassuming southwestern-themed restaurant featuring chili and brisket with pulled pork. Its not genuine southern barbecue, but its good for something different. Modest beer selection, with good cocktails.

2022-03-14Always good, a neighborhood favorite. Large outdoor shed being renovated but inside is safe and comfortable during the day. (Very crowded place on weekend nights and Happy hours.) Very good Mexican fare with a Tex Mex leaning.
