Great brunch, server was wonderful and we didnt have to ask for our drinks to be refilled - thats how you treat customers at unlimited brunch 🙌🏼 Restaurant is really nice inside - wasnt a fan of the outside seating. Was hoping to love the lobster roll but could do without the avocado. Will be back!
God there’s something soulless about these uws Manhattan restaurants, they start out good and then over the years they get increasingly disappointing for the price. Maybe it’s the supply chain, maybe it’s inflation I dunno but the quality does not match the price tag at the moment at least. They were also understaffed (covid maybe?) and their one waiter was absolutely clueless, but I didn’t even mind that as much as the almost dystopian vibe… there is something just so depressing about an overpriced restaurant that isn’t even that good (see also: The Smith, Atlantic Grill)
My favorite seafood restaurant on the UWS. The service is so wonderful every time! The miso sauce on the barramundi is life changing. The espresso martinis are perfect. And if youre really ambitious, the Whale Platter is absolutely awesome but youll need a few friends to help!
Came here for happy hour.Drink was strong and good, I had a Big Ben.It said oyster is $1/each during the happy hour but they charged $1.50. I don’t know why.The oyster taste was good so I still do t get it.Crab roll was too salty. I think they sugar coat and salt coat.Atmosphere is very nice and cozy.Waiters are nice and friendly.
Excellent fresh seafood. Presentation was awesome. Not a fan of oysters but my friends would not stop taking about how good they were. Finally a place that really does salmon to perfection. Loved the calamari. Love the way the restaurant looks and feels. Will absolutely be going back
The great thing about their kale salad is that it harmoniously mixes different ingredients while not giving up the kale base. I was surprised by how delicately goat cheese can be added to the salad. And theres no enough way to praise the squid ink spaghetti. It carries a novel spiciness--not the typical tongue-striking or nose-running way; and its salty in a genuinely appetizing manner. The impeccable service of our server only took the dinner experience to the pinnacle of delight.
So, thought wed give this newly opened place a shot. For starters I had the octopus, which I found a little tough. I tend to find that when people cook an entire tentacle its generally not as tasty as it is when sliced up into chunks. But given I like octopus I always try to give it a go when I see it on a menu. The accompanying greens and sauce were nice though. My husband had the Korean style Pork belly. That was cooked well, though he did say it was quite spicy. For the main meal I went for half a lobster and 4 different west coast oysters. They all got eaten very quickly but there was nothing really memorable about them in terms of taste. My husband had the swordfish which was okay, but a little overcooked. We split an ice cream sandwich, 2 cookies Sandwiched a roasted rum, banana ice cream. The ice cream was fine, but the cookies were a little soggy, which really didnt make the dessert very appealing. For a an average meal it was rather overpriced, so a slightly disappointing experience.
Really great happy hour for oysters and drinks! One of the few oyster happy hours in NYC where you can select from a dozen or more oysters - most oyster happy hours you get the least fresh or cheapest - not here - here you can choose from west coast or east coast, we asked for the waitress recommendation - 24 glorious oysters later I can say I was very impressed!
Crave Fish bar is one of my favorites when I am in seafood mood. The warm crab roll is absolutely BOMB and the calamari is cooked to perfection, never chewy. The manager Kate is a gem, her and the rest of the staff always make sure we are having a great time with top notch service and a specialty cocktail in my hand!! Highly recommend!!
Crave Fishbars new outpost in the UWS just added brunch ahead of their midtown restaurants launch... and the quality is impeccable as Crave normally is. Each brunch dish from the oysters, oyster shooters, to the waffles, poke, lobster roll, burger, roast pork sandwich, cookies n ice cream was enjoyable. Service is stellar as can be expected of Crave. The decor is as nautically themed as it should be given seafood spin to the menu.
Wonderful meal here this evening. The seafood was fantastic but so was everything else. Started with some sushi. Multiple people mentioned the rice was excellent which is normally not the case for a non-sushi restaurant. Same for the pasta dishes. Very generous portions of crab on perfectly cook pasta. Charming service and a fair price for the high quality.
Upgrading my original review from 4 stars to 5. Lovely space, kind and attentive servers, and excellent food! We have come for brunch the last few times. The shuckers choice oysters ($1.50 a piece) and drink life a fish special (90 minutes for bottomless drinks- even some cocktails!) are a real draw. The tuna tostada is a must order every time. I was super impressed by the sushi bowl, too. Everything is fresh and inventive. Will be back soon!
Ive been here 3 times and I measure most places by quality of food, service level and consistency. I have been for happy hour twice, once through the week and once on the weekend. The food is good quality and the oysters are great. Drinks are ok but cocktails seem to be made with some sort of pre-made juice.....not quite concentrate out of a carton but not far off.Service is where theres an issue. Happy hour oysters took 40 min to deliver in a restaurant at 30% capacity. Asked the waiter what was taking so long and got brushed off with a washy answer that it can take up to 30 min. The waiter with the man bun. You know who you are. You walk up and down the restaurant and stare at the computer screen avoiding work. Your team lost a star because of you.
Service was good but food was pretty average. My swordfish was very over cooked, I specifically asked the waiter prior not to over cook it. My partners Lobster Roll was also very average. The waiter offered us another us another dish, but not hungry or interested at that point.
Whats not to love about this place??? Oysters are perfect! Service is on point (which is so rare in this city). I particularly love their spicy margarita which pairs so perfectly with the brininess of east coast oysters! It’s inspired me to try something similar at home. Reserve a table for Happy Hour through Open Table and remember to enjoy life!
Found this place wandering around the upper west side in NY. Oysters were top notch (a buck each, good price!). Brunch was very tasty...salmon eggs benny was delicious and came with a nice salad. Portions were a nice size, not overly big, which is perfect for brunch. Try the cucumber spritz. Very refreshing..great service, nice atmosphere. Money well spent.
My wife and I ate dinner at Crave Fishbar recently. We shared three dishes. An excellent appetizer that had salmon that was served in mini tacos, broiled Bronzino with fennel and other vegetables and a kale salad. The restaurant was packed with guests of all ages so if you plan on eating there, I’d recommend making a reservation. Our server was professional and all the staff seemed to work effortlessly together. I had the opportunity to email with the owner, who takes great pride in providing excellent meals to his customers.
We were here once before and it was nice, but tonight was fantastic. We came without reservations, lucked into three seats at the bar, had an amazing meal and drinks. The gluten-free, rice dusted fried calamari was to die for. The market fish was superb. The oysters of course were fab. And a great server who was warm and attentive without being intrusive. Great evening.
For goodness sake. I came here thinking, “ I like oysters and I’d like to have a nice date night.” Both exceeded my expectations. Kerry (I think maybe the manager) was amazing! I had a tour of oysters from California to japan that opened my palette to flavors and textures I didn’t know I could discuss with such detail. Thanks for the ambiance. Thanks also for the friendly happy hour and oyster advice. :)
Love the Upper West Side Crave Fish Bar at Happy Hour. They have a terrific selection of oysters beyond Blue Point and the service is very good. While the bar area gets noisy as the evening goes on, the upstairs dining area is quieter and easier on the ears and vocal cords.
Expensive place but with a nice atmosphere, great service and good quality. Overall worth the price. The best part of this place is the Oyster happy hour. The variety of oysters is huge and they are super fresh and served on ice. Definitely the best I have ever had. Menu options are not many, especially if you want to eat sea food. Not many raw or pure sea food options besides the oysters
Food: We mostly stuck to the Appetizers this time around, it allowed us to try many different items. The Roasted Cauliflower Soup and the Salmon Sashimi Tostadas are absolutely amazing. They also have a good selection of oyster condiments with horseradish, cocktail sauce, lemon, etc. (happy hour oysters $1-1.50 per oyster between 5-7 pm on the weekdays)Location / Service: The space is warm and inviting, as is the service. The space is warm and inviting, as is the service. All of the wait staff were helpful with recommendations and checked on us throughout the meal. The price point is very reasonable for a delicious seafood restaurant.Recommend: Book reservation, this place can get really busy. From the business:“Crave Fishbar UWS is a vibrant, convivial restaurant serving an inspired seafood menu from chef Todd Mitgang. An eclectic mix of reclaimed materials and custom made chairs and tables lend a beachy, rustic feel to the space, which houses a 25-foot-long bar where guests can order from the full raw bar, dinner menu along with cocktails and wine from a mounted bottle display. Approachable, sophisticated dishes feature local seafood, crudos, and meat dishes that are thoughtfully prepared with both familiar and exotic ingredients. Home of the #oystergram happy hour, select from all east and west coast oysters, ranging from 12-20 different types, all at happy hour price. Crave Fishbar has taken its place as a neighborhood fixture, providing locals and newcomers alike with a elegant, inviting experience.“
Love this place - Ive been several times over the years and theyre great for both dinner and brunch. They now have a good bottomless special (some basic drinks and an option to upgrade to very potent margaritas, delicious Moscow mules, and other specialty drinks for only $5 more) and are pretty consistent with pours and timing. Other pluses are amazing food and a lot of gluten free options. Lightly fried calamari and creamy cauliflower soup with fried oysters are both gluten free and really tasty. The beakfast tacos are stuffed to the brim and flavorful - the only complaint for those is that they should definitely have two tortillas since they have some liquidy toppings and may fall apart, especially if they sit for a while. Definitely a bit messy. Ive also always had stellar, friendly service for multiple sized groups (3-8+) and theyre usually even accommodating for lateness of part of the party. Its a very chill vibe, at least at the UWS location, but definitely still fun for large groups of friends and worth a visit for really any occasion.
Surprisingly kid unfriendly place for the UWS. But thats a nice change of pace for parents who want a date night alone. Lovely upscale casual decor, and an amazing happy hour oyster deal ($1 high quality oysters) with solid (though not amazing) cocktails and seafood small plates. Among their mains, we especially like the squid ink pasta.
(7/2018) Consistently excellent. It gets a little crazy by the bar and can be difficult to dine barside, but the dining room is very civilized and the staff are knowledgeable as in they know their ersters. Delicious, creative food. I go as often as I can, always with great anticipation.(7/2019) The service started out pretty sketchy, then settled down, but was never really up to par. Server was nice but rather unprofessional with important things: knowledge of the menu, wines, etc. The place was busy and seemed both understaffed and under supervised: too hectic to promote true dining pleasure. The food was excellent.
Eclectic, seafood centric brunch line up with serious boozy capacities. Service was gracious and steady. All we had was great, with a special shout out to the avocado toast... The only suggestion would be to step up the crispy shrimp on the toast... Seemed petite, had a previously frozen essence... They were just the only thing that didnt stand up the way everything else did.
Top notch! I went with my husband and baby for brunch on Sunday. The food was delicious and they were super accommodating with my baby. The size of the restaurant is deceiving from the outside as you cant really see into the back until you walk through the doors. All in all, it was a great experience and we cant wait to visit again!
I came here for my friends birthday brunch. It was a wonderful experience! Didnt seem super busy for a Sunday afternoon. Very quick service and delicious food. I had a yummy breakfast sandwich and some coffee. Décor was cute and bathrooms are clean. Definitely recommend!
Great environment but the food is pretty bland and tasteless - especially considering the prices which, while not crazy, are a bit overpriced considering what you get. Fish tacos were bland (much better at Mermaid Inn) Cerviche also nothing to write home about. I now occasionally go for a drink or two but will eat elsewhere.
Wonderful dinner on a Tuesday evening. Reservations for 6:30 so the place was pretty quiet still but filled up quickly while we were there. Definitely make reservations. Shared the yellowtail tuna tostada (4 pieces, just the right amount) which was very creative in looks and flavor. Husband had the Grilled Faroe Islands Salmon which he pronounced outstanding. I had the Olive Oil Poached Icelandic Cod and did something I havent done in years - I cleaned my plate! Delicious. Service was spot on and the place has a casual, rustic but carefully uncluttered feel. Cant wait to go back.
Made a reservation for dinner Saturday night at Crave Fishbar - our first time eating here. I will start this review stating that we are extremely hard to please and find most restaurant food experiences in NYC disappointing. Not so with Crave! To start the service was very good. We started off splitting the cauliflower soup and salmon tostada appetizers - both were incredible with such unique well paired flavors! The waitress even split the soup appetizer so we both got a small bowl to ourselves. As a side dish we ordered the brussel sprouts which were absolutely fantastic, not sure whats in that sauce but it is delicious. However, the scallops entree didnt wow us: the applewood smoked mushrooms overpowered the dish, the bed of greens below was flavorless, and the scallops were a bit salty/gritty, though cooked well. To be honest the only thing I wasnt overly impressed by at Crave were the entree offerings as the flavors sounded far less exciting than the appetizers. I would definitely come again and just stick to ordering items off the appetizer menu!
I hope to one day have as much passion in a hobby as our waiter, Eric P, had in passionately talking about oysters and its history across the north americas.Eating at this location was an experience -- I recommend anyone coming to let the servers decide on a round of two dozen oysters -- you wont regret it
I didn’t make the reservation and I gotta say that when I walked in I was concerned this was a TGIF kind of place but from 30 seconds in, i was impressed. The restaurant has excellent service and totally delicious food. My friend made a 7pm reservation but Fir the first time in my life i arrived early and I was rewarded by not just being seated right away despite the rest of my party not there yet, the server (wish I knew her name bc she was top notch) came over to lmk that I could get my order in before happy hour ended in 5 minutes. I thought that was great and I ordered oysters, which I probably wouldn’t have which would have been my loss bc they were really delicious. The rest of our meal was as good too: I had the lobster curry dish and my friend had the Barramundi and both would be worthy of ordering again.
Great spot. Good craft cocktails. Very welcoming atmosphere, no pretension, excellent service and well executed, creative seafood. Highly recommend tuna poke, calamari, miso barramundi, lobster curry and DO NOT skip the cookie. I don’t even like cookies and we were fighting over the last bites.
My experience at crave fishbar was awful. we ordered the rawbar which was lacking crackers and condiments. the crab legs were salty and oysters way too fishy. my entree salmon well done arrived completely raw . service was relatively slow and i wouldnt have minded if the dining area wasnt so noisy. i regret to strongly recommend avoiding crave.
Crave is an amazing Eatery. Especially if youre attending a show at the Beacon start off with a great meal crave and then a short walk to the Beacon Theater for your show. On a particular evening we have the octopus and baraschi as well as a cauliflower soup All Stars. The oysters and Raw Bar onpointfresh couldnt ask for much more and a place that builds itself as a fresh fish and seafood Eatery
Crave is an amazing restaurant where the foods competes with the service to see which will surpass your expectations. This is a gem worth traveling to from other parts of the city as well a great neighborhood spot. Recently I organized a large group buy out the restaurant with complicated obstacles to overcome. The management team far surpassed my expectations with their attitude and aptitude.
Crave UWS Review: Ive been to Crave on the East side many times and loved it. Was so happy to hear they opened a new location in my neighborhood. I even recognized our waiter from the other location (he did not recognize me).My husband and I had terrible service. We sat down to a dirty table, which they eventually cleaned, but did not give us the candle and small flower that was on every other table. We had to get up and get them from another vacant table. Our waiter was pre-occupied with the couple sitting next to us. I made eye contact with him, but he never even came by to take our drink order. Finally another man (appeared to be a manager) came by to tell us about the menu and take our orders. My husband ordered the steak medallions. I wish I took a photo of this plate. It was 3 small square-ish sized pieces and a mound of mushrooms that took over more than half of the plate. It looked like an appetizer (and Ive seen appetizers with more food). My husband is not a big eater, but he finished eating and said he was still very hungry. Waiter/Manager guy asked us how everything was, and we were honest about the portion. The man instantly turned defensive and arrogant with us!! He said its 10 ounces of steak. If it was 5 oz Id be surprised-such a lie!! Then he said no one has ever complained about the dish, shrugged his shoulders and rudely said, hey, I can fix something else up for ya if you want and walked away. They presented us with a dessert menu, which we declined. And then the check. No apology, no concessions of any kind. Zip. Its the last time well go there. With so many great restaurants in our neighborhood, they should watch the arrogance attitude and terrible service. Go to nearby Fish Tag or Mermaid Inn instead.
We are so thankful to the staff who served us. All the thanks go to Taylor and Mazin. Their dedication to the work they do and the service they provide is seamless. I am fully impressed. But Peter was a kinda unwelcoming. He was like: it is 16:50 and we can’t serve you, you gotta wait. His body language was awful. This was a terrible experience and a great example for my students. I work in the training center where I train people who serve at hotels and restaurants. Peter’s tone was really bad! I was about to leave the venue while my boyfriend assured me that Peter is just a manager of a coworking space and all the other staff is brilliant. Please let Peter know how he should behave or lose business!
Christmas eave for 3. Best service, excellent calamari appi, poke appi,. Two fillets done perfectly, lobster bucatini with lobster overdone. Service could not be better. Overall an A!!Note, Crave management reached out to me re the lobster and offered to make it right. They did just by reaching out. Recommend 100%
After all these wonderful reviews I had to check it out for myself. AlI I have to say is YUM! I live alone and dont like to cook just for me. If I make something it ends up being too many leftovers and spoils. I have been looking for a place with great take out, in any portion I want, that just needs a microwave, and I have found it!They are inexpensive, friendly, have a great take out selection (I got lasagne, baked ziti, meatballs, fish cake, and mac and cheese) There is also so much more (olives, salads, sausages, eggplant etc)So far everything I got tastes amazing!
Absolutely disgusting horrible service/waitress. Takes 45 min just to get one dozen and no service in between. Cant ask if you want more drinks. Cant even bring the check after asking for it for another 15 min and then have to ask manager. The place is a disaster. Plus the manager did not care at all either.

2021-08-21Came here for brunch. We used our pulsd deal and had a wonderful experience. The Bloody Marys are not that good. It was too tomatoey. We got the mimosas and they were better. The lobster rolls are not surprisingly very small. Get the squid ink spaghetti if you want something more substantial. We also ordered the oysters which were really good and fresh. The decor was nice and servers attentive.

2021-08-14I love the design and ambience of this place. You get a lot of personal space between tables. The seafood is fresh and the service is efficient, but generally the staff isn’t very friendly/warm.Oysters 🦪 are the main event and are perfectly presented and super fresh. The lobster roll has guacamole in it which I was excited about but later realized was a bridge too far, and the fries are weak.I’d suggest this place more for happy hour (oysters and white wine), and head up the street to Mermaid 🧜♀️ Inn if you want the best seafood dinner in the area (with a lobster roll and old bay fries to live for).

2022-04-11Cocktails were excellent. Food..not so much. The portions were quite uneven—I got more food than I could possibly eat but my mom’s meal was a very small portion. The menu descriptions sounded delicious but the food just wasn’t very tasty and it was incredibly expensive. Would only go back for cocktails or happy hour.

2021-10-06Enjoyed a bottomless brunch with the upgraded margarita option. The calamari and oven roasted barramundi were both delicious. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. I ate indoors but the outdoor seating looked comfortable.

2022-04-04The food, cocktails and service here was great. Staff was friendly and ambiance was nice too. I ordered the lobster curry and it was quite delish, added the fried rice to go along with it. I didn’t finish it all and asked for the lobster curry leftovers to be packed to-go. When I look inside the container today to finish my meal, the lobster pieces I left in the dish weren’t included. And they were big lobster claw pieces, at least 2 of them. For one of their most expensive entrees on their menu, it was a big let down for me. I was excited to eat my leftovers but clearly the person who packaged it took the protein out and I guess saved it for themselves? There’s no other explanation why those pieces would be left out when all the veggies and curry sauce were packed. I don’t think I’ll be returning.UPDATE: Management called and apologized and even offered to send me replacement dish. I declined but the gesture was nice.

2022-04-16Service was excellent. We were there during happy hour and shared a number of small plates before a show. A small issue with a salad was immediately resolved, leaving us feeling very good about the staff. Food was tasty. Next time would be sure to get oysters.
