Crunch Fitness - Norwood in other cities:
My friend went and he got a day pass, I tagged along and the gym is on a 2nd floor of a new building. The guys in the front were super cool and chill. We got in and the location is a whole floor. The cardio machines are on the left, weights in the back. Machines to the middle and side of window. Had a great workout, they have good machines. 10dls for a day pass is a great deal.
I just started attending since my gym closed during COVID-19. Its really clean. I lost my sunshade, the cleaning woman found it ,& the money that fell out of my pocket and out it on top of the machine Id used earlier. Felt really STRANGE to get it back, Id already cursed everyone under my breath.Just saw an amazing view of the northern Bronx this morning while in this gym. NICE 🙂
I just started my membership but basically on my second day I went to use the precor elliptical machine and two of them werent working (the control to change the incline did not work). Some other machines had signs saying they were temporarily out of order too (I saw 3). Other than that the staff is nice.
Only problem with the gym is the weight is usually never re racked, but the gym is clean and the staff is friendly.*UPDATESo I originally gave them a 4 star. But just after a few days ive already seen the team take action and try and fix the problems! Much respect, a great place to workout
Great gym, great staff, great trainers, great space. Overall a phenomenal gym. I am being trained by one of the best trainers they have, his name is Charlos. His focus, drive, and determination to get me fit is the main reason I will continue coming to this gym. I live in NJ and he is worth me traveling from there to this gym just to be trained here. I will definitely recommend him to all my friends and family.
Im new to the neighborhood and I was a bit trepidatioous about this gym, as some of the reviews were unsavory. This gym is awesome! In light of COVID, there is always someone cleaning, windows are open, everyone wears a mask, I constantly see employees walking around ensuring a safe environment for all, machines are blocked for safe distancing, and everyone is nice and/or just kind their business. Not to mention the fair monthly price. Although Im not a fan of leaving my savings account number on file, but I just opened one specifically for the gym and keep just enough in there to cover monthly expenses. Otherwise, its really wonderful. My husband and I are both pleasantly surprised and happy we decided to buy in the BX. We didnt really know what to expect coming from the UES, but moving up here has been great so far.
Update!A month or so later and we are still at the same crossroads with this place. The staff is not professional at all. Late late late and late. If the instructor is late how about a back up plan? I personally stopped taking the classes with certain instructors because he they were being plain unreliable and a month later still the same deal, nothing has been done obviously because the same thing still happening. Please, when looking for a gym do not sign up for this one. I love the brand i do, but this location is a disgrace and a plain embarrassment of what Crunch stands for.I loved this place! The staff was friendly and well informed. Everyone seemed to be on top of things and very knowledgeable. Pre Covid-19. Now the staff is rude and seems to be in la la land. Everyone in on their phones or just spaced out. No one knows what’s going on, and God forbid you ask. The policies only apply to certain people at certain times. And no one seems to last working there which seems like a bigger problem might be going on. The gym is fairly clean like before but not Covid-19 standard clean. The trainers use the machines/weights and just leave them around without wiping them and never put them back in their place. I wish there was a closer alternative for me at the moment. Because this place no longer is what they advertised to be. It was a fun place to go workout, now is just my only alternative at the moment.
Today I get so disappointed by a employee.I literally forgot to put back my weights ,but the way he call me from my back ,it was so disrespectful.Than another employee came and he was like I am giving warning if you do that one more time than we will kick you out.I saw lots of people are not wearing mask properly or putting back their equipments back, but this two employee didn’t say anything to them but when I did that they were coming to me with disrespectful way.Other than Gym is very good.I hope
This is so far the only gym I liked and I’ve tried every gym in the Bronx. Staff is friendly, bathrooms and workout spaces are clean; I’m really not into classes and they are not happening now due to covid but I Was actually impressed with some of the class instructors I tried, classes are intense and fun. I think what I like the most is that there’s a good vibe and members are focused on their workouts for the most part instead of staring at you or trying to approach you while you are trying to finish routine which is something that made me leave other gyms, workouts are intense and members are focused on getting it done and it’s truly a judgement free zone.It can get a bit crowded but I haven’t had a situation where there’s no machines available, never in many years. I hope the gym can survive the Pandemic, I can’t wait to go back!
Great environment. Great staff. Plenty of equipment to match your gym goals. An abundance of classes to choose from throughout the week. I am satisfied with my membership. I highly recommend the kick off sessions for each new member. The trainers are great at their craft and will help establish a plan to achieve your body goals. They will keep you accountable on following your plan.
I have been a member with this gym since they first open.Staff is friendly and welcoming.I enjoy the Zumba classes led by Josef.I have also experienced the personal training program with Khalid. I liked the way he designed my program to meet my needs as well as meet me where I began in my fitness journey.I also enjoy the promotions and holiday events they offer.Positive vibes all around.
After a horrible experience with PT program I decided to canceled my membership with 6 training sections reaming (over $300)because of the poor organization, they told me they have to charge me one more monthly fee month and supervisor or manager was next to the lady who was taking care and told her not to put the charge... next day I received a call from crunch saying there going to charge me the monthly fee, another proved of inconsistency... as loyal customer to this gym since they opened I ended up very disappointed the way they handle everything.
Nice place. Lots of options. Gym goers are very careless with their stuff. Like they dont want to use the locker. Felt like a thief walking around when I was just trying to see what the equipment was. All kinds of personal items laying around. Staff was friendly. Place was clean enough. Ive seen worse gyms. Overall, enjoyed the experience. I went with a friend that had a membership.
I personally love it. They do a great job keeping it clean. Never have I smell bad odor in that gym. The staff is nice. The machines work perfectly, and the areas are well defined. I only wish they had child care, that is the only negative I see. Overall, its the best gym I have visited so far.
Been a member for roughly 2.5 years. It used to be much better. The staff is really nice. I see reviews on the manager being a douche but in my experience hes a cool dude too.Its a horrible gym though if you prefer independent workouts. Its not a big place to begin with and every week evening they close half the place down for group classes you have to pay extra for. This goes on from about 5pm to 830-9pm.This causes everyone to clutter to the weights and youll be waiting for some time to get on a single machine. If you can go early or near closing on weekdays its pretty empty though.
I was a member of Crunch Fitness (Norwood) for two years until my recent move. The staff at this gym are great, from the front desk to the personal trainers. Their Group Training classes are hardcore. They will have you sweating before you even begin. When starting my fitness goal I had the opportunity to train with Gabriel. He understood my goals and my physical limitations. Always pushed me for the better. Then I went on to train with Khalid Haynes. He knew my love for running and football that he incorporated into our training even though I had no coordination. Khalid never let me give up on myself, always pushed to give it my best. Was very patient and gave me the best advice when it came down to the foods I eat. They both understood what my goals were and helped me in achieving it.
My current home gym. I go tot the one in Norwood and it is the absolute BEST. I am so in love with the facility and the gym set up. I definitely recommend this gym! It’s like the no-judgement part of Planet Fitness with the fitness expertise of Blink and Equinox and the price of a neighborhood gym. A Must- see and try!
All gyms are NOT created equal! This Crunch location is great: friendly staff, clean & working equipment, clean facilities and the trainers are awesome. Ive worked with both Wendy & Khalid and they are nothing short of amazing. They work with my hectic schedule and (most importantly) tailor my sessions to my specific fitness goals while pushing me to do more than I think I can. I would highly recommend each of them!
Staff is great, bench press has an elevated headrest that cuts into your traps plus feels slippery due to arch on padding. Manager is like a coach in High School always making a big deal about wearing improper gear, which sucks for me cause I use to come right after work (construction) weekdays and didnt carry my gym gear, so the days he was there he would threaten to cancel my membership. Eventually I left tired of the bs. Like I said other than the manager the staff is outstanding.
I absolutely loved this gym. Its always clean, machines arr always available. Like the guests here dont hog the weights nor do they leave them about the place. Staff was kind, friendly and approachable. I had issues with payments. For four months they kept collecting from a card that was expired, i kept getting calls from ABC for payment failure. I kept calling each month to give them the new card. Each month they said they updated it. And each month we did the same stuff again. I finally said screw it cancelled my membership. How hard is it to update a card??? I miss it though. Loved tge classes. I even did the personal training group class which was intense. Loved it. No parking though
I loveeeeeee love love love this gym. Everyone is super friendly and motivational. I started in January and I’ve lost tons of weight. I want to thank my personal trainer Khalid he’s fantastic I would recommend him to anyone. He inspires me to push myself and not to give up. Thank you for showing me healthier life style and making me feel more comfortable with myself.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Gym tends to get very congested during evening hours. One thing I am VERY disappointed in is I have requested a “Decline Bench” machine for almost two years now and they have yet to implement it. I literally asked the staff members/staff in a daily basis for over a year and my requests actually became an inside joke.I also spoke with the owner regarding the same topic of obtaining a decline bench and nothing was done. A decline bench is vital to my overall chest development and they lack that every essential equipment. They don’t even have a flat bench that can be placed into decline position; the flat benches they do have do not have leg holders so you slide back if you’re attempting any decline angles.Overall the gym has been very disappointing because they do not implement or take into consideration any of the members suggestions. They have promised the members a decline bench some 2017.I would also like a free shoulder press bench as well, but asking for that would be too much since they don’t listen to any feedback or member input.
If youre looking for a temporary gym such as over the summer, this is not the place. You get charged an annual fee each year even if you only want to sign up for a couple months at a time. You also have to cancel a whole 10 days in advance which they are very strict about. There is absolutely no reason for this policy other than to charge people an additional month. The best part is, they make none of this clear at sign-up.
So far so good - Loved it, better then PF by far, which Ive been going to for the past 5 years. This gym offers free weights, which is a plus if this is a new gym to you. The classes are a good schedule and busy life friendly. The location is really clean, but well see how it holds up over a year...They need to put out cleaning products so members can also wipe down after themselves. The gym is not crowded at all and very well spaced. The gym definitely aims at having you use your own body more so then guided balances and lifts. Youll be surprised at the quick progress gained here.
I have been a member of this gym for a couple of years now and the staff are a great group of people. It is well maintained, i have no complaint. Recently i signed up Khalid Haynes, a personal trainer and he has introduced me to parts of my body that i have apparently neglected to work on. Great guy, happy i signed up with him and Ive decided it will be an ongoing relationship. Thanks Khalid! Thanks crunch!
DO NOT GO HERE!!!! Im currently trying to get my money back from these people and their treatment has been terrible. I joined the gym in Dec 2017 at the behest of friends and family. As soon as you sign up they introduce you to the personal training (To drive up sales). I decided to give it a try. Two days in I decided the personal training part wasnt for me. I told my trainer Inmarie and the personal training manager Gabriel. They convinced me that putting a pause on the training was a good idea. The rates were going to increase in the new year and with a pause I wouldnt be charged and Id have some time to think about it. Fast forward and they have been charging me weekly to the tune of 1300 dollars!!!. Why didnt I notice sooner? When I signed up they needed bank and routing information and I only had the banking info for the bank account I use for school tuition on hand. There isnt any activity on that account so I dont have to regularly check it and I made myself clear to the staff about not being charged. As soon as I noticed I tried to call management to get this rectified and all Ive been given is the run around. Manager isnt in, he is on a call etc. Ive been in personally and nothing. When the manager finally called I was on hold for 15 minutes and then transferred to Gabriel who cant help me at all. Ive tried to get to speak to the owner but according to Gabriel the owner does not like to be bothered by this sort of thing! I tried to call corporate and since this location is a franchise they cant do anything about it!!! Shady? YES! all of my interactions with the manager have been dismal I can safely say he doesnt respect or care for his guests. He has no skills in customer service or retention. Hes rude and cant seem to handle tasks that a manager should be able to handle. Delegating a task to someone who cant do anything about the problem is not real management. I wish I looked at reviews sooner because it seems to be a pattern with these people. I joined and trusted them of the bat because DOZENS of friends and family go to this gym since they opened and I figured why not since its close by. They have my tuition money hostage I could get kicked out. Im currently exploring any options I have including filing a report with the city and consumer affairs. They could save everyone so much hassle if they just grew some ethics!
Crunch is probably one of my favorite gym so far, this gym was about 30 mins train from my house, I went there in the evening and I enjoyed it everyday. Honestly, one of the best gym, the staffs were really great. I miss going there and I miss the massage. Truly an amazing gym. However I always hated when coming back home. Took me forever! Crunch is one of the much better gym that I have went to. Great job NorwoodCrunch! Keep up the great work gym staffs!
I love this place!! I have been coming here for years. I have the Peak Plus Results membership, take studio class, Small Group Training, and Personal Training with Bel George. I am seven pounds away from losing 100 pounds and I could not have done it without the motivation and push I have received from the staff!!! From Josef (Zumba) to Kathy (Yoga) to Bel, Gabriel and Erica. I look forward to coming to this gym. The front desk staff is MOSTLY friendly and MOST of the trainers are welcoming. Coming to Crunch Norwood is a great part of my day/week.
Froze my account due to COVID but got charged annual fee as soon as account unfroze, exact 12 months from last year. No extension on annual membership payment despite account was frozen for several months and I have not been to the gym for over 10 months. When I tried to discuss this with the employee, she pretty much said it doesn’t work like that and hung up.
In my opinion this is the best gym and i had two differntmemberships at competitor gyms.I like the variety of workout classes they have to offer. Also, I really like at the end of my workouts I get to relax my muscles in their hydro water massage bed. When I am done with my massage, I feel like 10 years younger.
I am in NYC for a few months, so I wanted to join the gym for three months. I went to the Crunch and I spent like two hours trying to subscribe. The system didnt allow it because I dont have a bank account. I even offered to pay the three months and the annual fee in cash at that moment, but there was nothing the very attentive attendant could do. She said to come back the next day to see the manager. I did and he couldnt do nothing either. You became just a big chain of gyms with a system that do not care about the clients.
I’ve tried to leave several messages to close my account not only me but my daughter as well. No one ever gets back to you but now I have two pending charges on my credit card at a gym I have not attended in about a year and now with this pandemic all the updates and so call upgrades most likely the customers will have to pay for... can someone please get back to me and refund my payments?
I am very disappointed they removed tanning machine. I was signed this gym since opening.Keep membership this long part of reason having tanning machine and hydro massages. Hydro break down all the times but very convenient to have in gym after all. I am looking for new gym now. It’s no fun just do work out.
Small gym, not much to work with. I signed up for a training session, my trainer was great however this gym overall is quick to take your money and dont care to take the time to help out their customers.I was excited about becoming a gym member, and even more eager about taking training sessions at the gym. I do not remember ever hearing about the cancellation policy being properly explained to me. They sure were quick to take the money out of my account. I wanted to train for a month, and I notified my trainer that I only wanted to train for a month. I was unable to cancel my membership right away due to a family situation. Crunchs billing department apparently didnt get the memo, and debited the $440 amount to train from my account despite the fact that I was NO LONGER Training, thats right $440 just to train for one month! I asked to speak to the manager, and after calling for three days straight. I kept getting referred from one person to the next. Ultimately, I did not get my refund. I will never go back and will suggest to others to not go. These gyms aint loyal!
Great place to workout with a friendly atmosphere , very clean with up to date equipment ! The staff is awesome and is always willing to help with your workout on some of their down time . Out of the amazing staff i was able to have Khalid Reyes as my personal trainer and he is great.. helped me set and reach goals by pushing me towards the right direction and keeping in contact . Thank you Crunch and Thank you Khalid !
I have truly loved my Crunch Norwood experience! Ive been a member for the past year and in that time have upped my running game and learned what to work out to see the results I want most. Khalid has been my trainer now for almost six months and in that time he has helped me achieve more than I ever could have on my own / ever would have thought was possible for myself six months ago. Hes the best, and the whole Crunch team is awesome. So grateful this is my gym!
Its a decent gym, best time to go will be in the morning. As far as the staff and manager not so great. One of the manger has been advised several times about restocking on protective eyewear for the tanning. Reception area kept brushing me off by telling me the manager will order it. Three weeks has past by and no protective eyewear has been ordered. I called this morning to ask if the manager has placed the order, the person who picked up the phone was rude and sounded annoyed that ask. Staff members need to work on their attitude. Im paying for a service thats not being provided because of the lack of effort the manager is putting. Other than that its a decent gym.
Staff are very helpful and attentive. I signed up for personal training with Khalid Haynes and he made me very aware of my current health habits and helped me established a plan to reach my personal goals. I highly recommend the facility. I also enjoy the classes ! =)
I transferred from 24hrs Fitness Fordham Road. Crunch Norwood has very flexible monthly payments depending on what you like; I love the massage and tanning booth. I also enjoy the fact that the customers are there for a good workout and not for fraternal meet-ups and chats; the place is super clean and non smelly; and the staff (overall) are helpful. The only downside is that the space is a bit small, but very manageable....this is perhaps, the best gym in The Bronx...
I love crunch norwood. very friendly environment, very attentive staff. trainers are always helping and making you feel welcome. very flexible class schedule, so you can fit your workout anytime of the day that is convenient for you. always trying to push me harder to achieve my goals.
Awesome location, was very sad to have to leave (moved), Kayla (one of the staff members) made it pleasant experience though, even suggested several locations with that I can still train at by where I reside now that had similar membership prices to Norwoods branch. Great customer service!
My wife and I enjoy our training sessions with Carmen, one of the best trainers out there! She is flexible, conscientious, caring and supportive and works with individuals where they are in their fitness journey. Having been afraid of the gym culture and toxic ways in which it can be degrading to men and women, it was a relief to find Carmen at Crunch Fitness Norwood who has been nothing but professional, timely, organized, and motivational. Everyone check the gym out and request to work with her! She rocks!
The staff is very nice but unfortunately are more focused on signing new members and neglect the supervision of the place which suffers from members who take over the weights/weight machine sections which prevents others from using it! Mainly men who think the station is only for them and stay for 30 minutes without moving or carrying that others need to use it too! While the front desk staff is always busy, the personal trainers do absolutely nothing but play with their phones or talk among themselves instead of supervising the floor. Also, many machines don’t work and haven’t been fixed for months!People talk loudly on the phone without consideration.TV has only 4 stations so it’s kind of boring. Also, there seems to be no manager in this gym!It is OK for the price but take in account that as many members don’t seem to have a job they just move in and stay for hours. So, if you want to do a lot of stuff it is recommended that you arrive before 9 am or in less busy days like Wednesday/Thursday or Sunday morning.
I have been working with Khalid for more than a year prior him working for Crunch. I joined the Crunch he left the YMCA. I always enjoyed my workout with him. He help me build up strength, reduce my weight while overall improving my fitness level over time. He has been pivotal in reducing my knees pain, strengthening the muscles around my knees and improve my mobility while drastically reducing my physical therapies, which saved me medical co pays.
In the past few years I have had about three gym memberships. I honestly can say that Crunch is hands down my favorite gym of all time. The staff are friendly, the gym in itself is very clean and well taken care of. I signed up at Crunch Norwood in June 2018. I was welcomed into the gym like they have seen me before. I never had a personal trainer before so they set me up with Khalid Haynes. He is HANDS DOWN THE BEST personal trainer EVER. He is very patient and understanding and gives you the best personal training. He also provides plenty of accommodations if you cant make it to your scheduled training time. In the past three months Ive learned soo much about Khalid and the work ethic he provides. He is truly an amazing person and employee. I know that every time I come into Crunch Norwood I feel like family. Khalid is a beast and I hope he gets the recognition he deserves because they are not a lot of trainers like him. Unfortunately, I am moving to Newark, NJ and there is no Crunch Fitness centers, so I do however have to cancel my membership. If it wasnt for this I would honestly be a crunch membership holder for life. Please get some Crunch Centers in Jersey !. Thanks for everything Khalid!
I just had an introduction session to the gym and what they have to offer. I met with Cecil, and even though I was late, he was still very cool about it lol. I think he had me working out for 7 minutes before I was tired out (needless to say I’m out of shape) but still he showed me a few things that were definitely helpful. I then spoke with Gabriel (I think is his name) slim guy with a beard, anyway, he was also very helpful & went through everything as far as the nutrition portion and classes. All in all I had a positive experience with these two guys and the gym is definitely worth it. Thanks to those 2! Let’s get it!
May 2017I first got a free pass to try out the classes for this location in the beginning of May. Loved it so i decided to sign up at my home gym the The Hub. Before signing up i read up on the different types of membership option and i finally decided to go with peak membership. It offers entry to all essential locations in the US and the use of classes. I usually go to this gym on tuesday and thursdays because they offer 6am classes.Today, i entred the gym and while i was going to enter my phone number to get the ticket for the first and second class, i was approached by the gym manager rudely. She told me since this gym is not my home gym i wont be able to take the class unless i paid. After explaining that I traveled 4 miles eargerly to take these classes she finally let me take both classes. Ive never had an issue before today.I really felt like i never wanted to walk back into this gym after the rude encounter.Update 6/28/17I decided to join this gym due to offering the 6am classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I must give credit to the instructor Belkis who is always on time and gives a great am workout. We need however more 6 am classes throughout the week, just saying. The three stars is because some employees do not greet you and because the weekend classes start a bit late. Would be great to have classes beginning at 8:00 am. Overall, I am happy with this gym.7/7/17Ive been attending the 900 am classes every saturday since june. I notice the instructor performs the same moves and does not seem that motivated to teach the class. I wish he would switch up the moves due to how our body adapts and wish the music was a little louder. I might stop going to this class due this.
My husband was a member here for a few months and had no complaints. Then we moved and had to cancel our membership. WOW we had no idea what an ordeal it would be. They tell us you cant cancel over the phone, it HAS to be in person. He finds the time to go in even though hes pulling 12 hour shifts and the front desk tells him his account will be cancelled. For the next YEAR they try charging us a membership fee every month. Weve called, weve emailed, weve cancelled the damn credit card, and they still wont listen to us. Now theyve sent us to collections! What an awful experience. What more could we possibly have done?
Hard to find parking in this area so I went in to cancel my membership after paying for several months without being able to workout because I would not be able to find parking. Its been 2 months since my membership was cancelled but I see theyre still charging my card. I called them to sort it out... they have a transaction which shows that I came in person when I cancelled but the rep told me they were going to check the cameras to see if I signed the cancellation.Shame on them... terrible service.
I visited this location in April 2017 using a trial membership. I have been a member of lucille roberts for years but due to their recent closings of so many facilities I have decided to look elsewhere. Although the facilities itself were great the downside for me was the customer service. On first sight I was ready to join because the facilities are really nice. But my interaction with the staff changed that quickly. While using a treadmill I was approached by someone who never identified themselves as a staff member. He began asking me how long I would be on the machine. I thought it was a odd question because the gym was not full and again I did not no this was a staff member. So I asked why he was asking this. At that point I was told that they were supposed to move the machine but that they would let me finish. Well - let me back track- he said that after I asked why was there was no sign on the machine because I didnt appreciate being interrupted. So I continue but sometime later Im approached by a woman who jumps up on the machine to inform me that I should move to another machine. I simply reply yes but finish my last 2 minutes. But before the 2 minutes could run out Im approached by another staff member who this time has a sign in his hand. At this point I let this staff member know that I thought the staff was rude and disrespectful. He simply shrugged off my comment and replied but are u finish now. Strongly reconsidering joining that location and thankful I hadnt joined yet. The staff definitely needs training in customer service but Im not sure it would help because common courtesy simply takes a bit of common sense.Part of the staffs job is to make the gym run smoothly. It doesnt take a genius to know to put a sign letting people no not to use a particular machine. But whats even worse to me is that I was told I could finish but then be confronted repeatedly as if I did something wrong. The customer shouldnt have to tell the staff how to do there job!
Its an good gym to get gains to start off with.. But the hours and schedule they have now on weekends are aweful. Me myself that wants to stay fit especially on weekends will have to rely on going to another gym such as for example: (24 Hr fitness) from when you work early mornings to late night and need to get a fix on cardio or weights, not a go to gym. Otherwise its great.
Awesome gym. I am a personal trainer here at Crunch, and I dont like the gym because Im a trainer there... I became a trainer there because I fell in love with their gym. Crunch has a great variety of machines many of which have multiple functions, and they also have a lot of up-to-date equipment. Someone stated that there is no glutes isolation machine... however there are actually several machines that can be used to strengthen your glutes. There is also a series of charts on display for everyone by the personal training area that explain how to exercise the glutes, as well as charts that explain how to focus on other major muscles. You can also feel free to just ask a personal trainer if you see they are not in the middle of training a client (a client in the middle of a paid session is the trainers priority) any questions you have and we are always happy to assist. Also, when a machine becomes out of service it is attended to immediately. If its not fixed the same day (most times it is) it means that the problem is a bit more serious, and something needs to be ordered... in which case it is received within a day or two later at most, and it is fixed the same day the piece arrives. The owner takes a lot of pride in his gym and its presentation; he does not like to see things not working or damaged.
Crunch Norwood is a gym with good equipment but only problem is the stuff there with too much attitude, which i hate! Ive been their member for 3 years but suddenly the stuffs stats showing their attitude including the manager. I am probably leaving crunch because I need to workout in a good and friendly environment not with moody workers around. because you will loose the encouragement after they treat you like you are no one.
Its a GREAT gym, u can get a great workout in here. Whether its by running, yoga, weights, hitting the bags etc.... however I must say, if you are more advanced in the pull up bar, this place has some pretty limiting pull up bars as it restraints u from doing muscle ups and many other advanced workouts.
I moved out of state and I want to cancel my membership. Ive tried calling and sending a letter to the gym and they refuse to cancel my membership. If youre joining this gym, be prepared for a lifetime commitment because canceling it isnt possible. Corporate calls this location a franchise and refuses to assist in cancellation.
Its awesome to come to Crunch to do my physical fitness activities. My husband and I learned a lot from our personal trainer Khalid. He is very friendly and knows a lot about positive physical fitness activities, he always follows up on how our body is feeling on the days we come to train with him. Based on our body, he sets up the activities. Thank you Khalid and Crunch team.Best,Masum & Shairmin
They are thieves. I cancelled my membership since we moved and they continued to charge for over a year. When I caught it on my statement the owner was rude saying thats too bad and there is nothing they can do. Would never recommend a gym with this kind of poor customer service and sneaky practices!
This is a very small gym. The machines are a little odd (they move you as well as the weight stack) and there is only one real cable tower (which has been down for over a week, which is odd because they claim it takes only a few days to get someone in to service them) and when I started using the other cable tower (this one is too small to do and lat or pec isolation moves) I discovered that one was broken as well (the staff knew about the problem, but never put in a service order. Why?) and I was a little upset by that. There are people who like to run around the gym instead of using treadmills (which makes me a little nervous, again, this place is small) and it can be distracting while youre in the middle of a set. Another big strike against this gym is theres no glute isolation machine. Youre going to be doing donkey kicks on the Smith machine (something for the ladies to strongly consider) . They also have a policy where youre required to share machines while youre resting between sets. This means youre going to have your tempo screwed up by constantly wiping down a machine but it also means you can jump in with someone else regardless of whether or not they want you to (if youre like that. Personally, Im not, so in reality I get interrupted a lot while I remain polite and try not to jam other people up). This also kinda creates sticky situations with regards to supersets. Youll walk up to a free machine only to be informed by someone using another machine they they are using the free machine as well... This is a headache and a big source of potential strife in the gym.Parking is a nightmare here, if you drive. Youll be scouring for a spot if its any day other than Wednesday due to alternate side parking.
Ive been working out with Belema G. for the past year and I must say that he is everything I looked for in a trainer. He pushes me to go past my limits and motivates me to try what I believe to be impossible. Bel is knowledgeable about his craft and is always looking for new ways to assist his clients in achieving their personal goals. I couldnt ask for a better trainer. #Bel4president
This place disgusts me. The owner (manager) is rude and need some customer service training. I cancelled my membership just after a month, and even after notifiying them ahead of time, they still charged me an extra month. I probably wouldve came back, but the way they treated me at the cancellation process, I would never come back to this gym again. I felt like I was robbed.
Trust me, the love will last until you have to cancel for whatever reason. Be ready to pay for an extra month even if you are not gonna use it. This is the way the contract is designed to always stick it to the consumer front desk manager Capryse Del Moral couldnt care less about hurting a corporate account of which I am part of. Trust me my company of 6000+ employees will be hearing abou this. We dont know anything about corporate, we are locally-owned . So I guess locally owned is equivalent to inferior service and rudeness. I couldnt care less about the money, but I will not accept indifference and basic disrespect for me and business. THE ONLY REASON I AM CANCELLING IS BECAUSE I MOVED TO NJ AND IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTINUE THE MEMBERSHIP. SHOW ME THE SAME RESPECT AND CARE YOU SHOWED ME WHEN I JOINED. Respect the brand you represent. Complaint letter to my company will follow this review.
All the staff are nice exapt the manager that I spoke to. He was very rude and didnt resolve the problem I had. I didnt even get a chance to tell him the issue and he already refused. Management needs a lot more training then just hiring someone from the street and giving them the title

2022-04-26The staff is always nice. The Crunch is pretty small but its super clean. Depending on the day and time you can get whatever machine youd like and plenty of space for yourself. Theres plenty of lockers (in the womens locker room at least) to leave your stuff in.

2021-12-19I have a membership from another gym out of state and recently moved back to nyc. This gym is very small and also smells horrible. It has a smell of body odor that is overpowering (it needs a deep cleaning really bad)so I recommend wearing your mask. I told them I had not been there before. They just asked for my COVID shot proof and that is it. Did not show me where anything was or anything. I will continue to use but do not think I will transfer my membership to this location. They are not friendly or welcoming.Update- went back to the gym a few times since. It did not have a overpowering smell… apparently they turned the air on- much better ventilation.

2022-07-14This gym is official! The gym is clean, the staff are welcoming and very helpful. Their Kickstart program helps you accomplish your personal goals whether its for yourself or for a special event which is pretty dope. I have personal goals that I want to accomplish that with the Kickstart their personal trainer Alex pointed me into the right direction. But if youre just going for a good workout you definitely can do that here too without being harassed like other gyms. Overall this gym is great and I would highly recommend. But dont just go by my words experience it yourself.

2022-07-26I really enjoy training here! This gym has everything you need from Zumba class to a boxing bag. The staff there are friendly and approachable. I always see management walking around ensuring that the facility clean and well kept.

2022-03-28Horrible!! DO NOT SIGN UP FOR PERSONAL TRAINING!! It is a scam!! I have been meeting with my personal trainer for a couple of months and then I decided to cancel. Everytime I tried to talk to someone about canceling they always told me to postpone or to talk to them later and after they disappear. They have taken hundreds of dollars now and I have not been seeing my personal trainer on the regular. I got charged after the 30 day cancellation fee. I WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!

2022-04-13How is it that a gym doesnt have barbell clips (or sometimes called collars)? Doing barbell squats without any clips is very dangerous! I have brought this to the attention of the front desk staff on two occasions and each of them gave similar answers of I will relay the message to management. Two months laters and no barbell clips have been purchased. I dont if the Crunch corporate office doesnt care about this Bronx location or what the issue is but this is unacceptable and quite annoying.

2022-08-12Nice enough gym, but I don’t understand how they charge for towels especially if you have an all access membership.

2021-11-12The gym is a little small but has a great staff, there is no shortage of equipment and everything is in working order. Facilities are constantly being cleaned by the staff throughout the day despite there being a good culture of people cleaning up after themselves. There is only one studio room for classes, so its one class at a time, but there is always plenty of vacancy to join the class of your choice and the instructors are very knowledgeable and friendly. The trainers are also highly qualified and pay attention to not only your health but your safety. I highly recommend this gym.

2021-10-28Attention: Mom reviewer here! This gym is not female friendly. My trainer Bianca was forced to leave because she would not comply to the vaccine mandate. That week I lost my training session and was forced to pay for it and forced to go to the next trainer that would have me. Which is a man and basically the only body builder there. My new trainer insists that my old trainer did nothing to actually train me. That makes me feel like the 400 plus in the three months I have already spent at this gym was for nothing. I’m so uncomfortable at this gym. There is no women’s fitness area and no security for women at all. Any one can walk into this place and there would be no way to stop an attack. I have since only met with the new trainer twice. Our first season he said the only way to quit was to never come back to the gym. SURPRISINGLY the only way to actually quit is to pay 60 days in advance and pay your membership fee. So it’s costing me an additional 240$ to get out of this unmerited, unfortunate contract. I was not intimidated by the contract and I actually like the facility. But this review wouldn’t have been happening had I not been contacted for billing while handling my fathers passing. I talked to someone at the ICU right after he passed. He just passed the 8/25 today is 8/28/21 and I’ve spoken to Dan every day since and have been met with 0 sympathy and spewed policy. This made the week from hell even worse and as I read this review back I feel even more taken advantage of. Go to gym that if you are made uncomfortable you can leave! Go to a gym that promotes good professional communication. Go some place that offers curtesy and is adaptable. This is not a place for moms who schedules are tight. Or for women who are concerned about there safety. Or for people who don’t like to waste money. Planet fitness may not have free weights but your free and that is priceless. They would have never treated me like this because there policies are better. I feel bad for anyone who works for a company that lacks integrity like Crunch Fitness!

2022-03-26Great staff, very helpful and friendly. Gym is not as big as others, but if you willing to make it work, then its a good spot to workout at.
