Cucina in other cities:
I had dinner here on Christmas Eve (my birthday) with my family last year. I’m not going to try to describe anything in detail, but rather I will tell you what this compares to. It compares to seeing one of the greatest rock bands of all time from the front row. This wasn’t just a restaurant with good food, this was an EXPERIENCE - I’m not saying that it felt like performance - but I am saying that I had no idea a restaurant could move me. Normal I can’t help but chew food very quickly because of how much my mouth waters - but I knew to chew slowly and enjoy every bite.
My fiancee and I came up for a weekend trip to get out of Brooklyn and this spot came highly recommended. Squid, caesar salad, and pasta mains (first pic is the linguine, wild gulf shrimp, garlic, jalapeno, tomato sauce and the second pic is the fusilli Bolognese, ricotta, olive oil) were great. We plan to stop by again before our trip is over. Zero complaints, the entire staff were great, a server even tracked us down to our car after we forgot a take home box of our leftover food.
Horrible service on my last visit a week ago. Server didn’t bring drinks until after salads arrived and we reminded her. Had to flag done a different server for water. Kale salad was supposed to have currents. Two in my party ordered and neither had more than 5-6 currents in salad. Pizza is mediocre. Pasta is the same. Salmon was passable. Definitely not authentic Italian as other reviewers state. Wondering if they’ve ever been to Italy. Wine list is brief. I’ve eaten here several times and each time I’m underwhelmed. I understand it’s expensive to run a restaurant and inflation has driven prices up, but this restaurant is not worth the high bill that comes at the end of the meal. On my last visit, the restaurant was too loud and dark. Couldn’t hear the others in my party. Neither could they. The long tables are a poor idea. Just a way to squeeze more people in but lend to an unsatisfactory dining experience with family and friends which after all is what real Italian cruise is about.
For covid time, this place had plenty of indoor and outdoor seating that was spaced out. The staff were friendly and the service was fast. We were in and out within an hour. Nice selection of cocktails and beers. The entree portions are big - more like family style so it’s better to share plates. The two things that could be more helpful is hand sanitizer accessible in the restaurant - we didn’t see any and having our own bottled water. Although we appreciated the waiters coming to refill our water, we would have enjoyed it more with a bottled sitting at our table for us to refill. Overall, food was delicious and cocktails were too! Will come again for sure.
I have enjoyed several meals at Cucina since relocating to the area. Their food is amazing! The squid appetizer is one of my favorites, it’s always tender. I also recommend the Caprina pizza. I love their pasta dishes too, I usually get the gnocchi but tonight I had the ravioli and now I think that could be my favorite. I have friends that are gluten free and Cucina has gluten free crusts and pastas available too. I usually don’t order dessert but the Budino (like a butterscotch pudding) is too good to pass up. So while the food is excellent I think what I love the most about this restaurant is the friendly staff. Service is seamless and while I’ve been disappointed with service standards at some of the other restaurants in the area Cucina never disappoints. I’m not much of a meat eater but my date tonight was really impressed with their ribeye steak, not many steak houses in the area so it’s nice that this Italian restaurant has that option too. Also the Everything Nice cocktail is so good.
This is an outstanding restaurant. Our table was ready when we showed up for our reservation. The staff people were friendly and attentive. The decor was very nice. There was a choice of indoor and outdoor dining. The bread was very good. We ordered calamari appetizer for the table, and there was plenty for everyone. It was prepared just right, lightly breaded with savory herbs, and it was very tender. We all had the salmon. It was delicious and tender. It was served on a bed of corn pudding and cherry tomatoes. We didnt have dessert so I cant comment on the desert options. The prices were reasonable considering the quality of the food. I highly recommend this place.
Mixed experience.$180 (including tip) for 2 drinks, 3 apps/sides, 2 entrees, 2 desserts + coffee. A bit pricey for the quality of the food, but service was excellent.Appetizers/sides: burrata salad, calamari, and rosemary fries. The fries were a bit oversalted and the calamari was decent. The tomatoes in the burrata salad were unfortunately flavorless.Mains: ravioli and linguine. The ravioli itself was good, but it was missing the pistachio gremolata mentioned in the menu, which was replaced with something reminiscent of everything bagel seasoning on top of the ravioli. The protein in my linguine dish was quite overcooked but the pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauce was delicious.Desserts: ricotta cheesecake and tiramisu, both decent.
Dont order the pizzaMy wife and i ordered pick up dinner here the first time. It has such great reviews, and high prices so we expected excellent pizza and salads but we were sorely disappointed. Cucina makes the saddest pizza i’ve had in the state of ny. Its as if they tried to make a bad pizza. And they had the audacity to charge $20 for it. Salads are fine, also overpriced. If you are in woodstock for the day id go anywhere else.
Cucina was wonderful . The staff was perfect, the food was amazing and with a great presentation . The Restaurant was very nice inside . It was a beautiful afternoon , so we took advantage of enjoying our meal on the porch. Would absolutely recommend . When we are back in the area, Cucina will be one of our first stops.
Everything from the drinks to the food, the service and dessert was all worth the visit. I enjoyed my birthday dinner here very much. I ordered the risotto which was delicious. We had the pizza for appetizer along with calamari. Everything tasted amazing. Service was fast, all COVID-19 guidelines met. We had reservations and were all seated promptly upon arrival. Definitely recommend.
We visited from NJ/NYC for New Years Eve and were very impressed. The tables were spaced out and the room was spacious given Covid restrictions. They had plenty of gluten free options for my wife Celiac Annie. She was able to get a gluten free appetizer, Main dish and dessert with no issues. They also accommodated my 3yo son on NYE without issue. I got the lamb chops and wasnt disappointed. Highly recommended!
Very nice restaurant with attentive service, nice setting and our food was very good. Meatball and olive/paremesan appetizers A+. I had the bolognese and although it was the spiciest bolognese Ive ever had (I order it a lot) I really loved it. Chicken milanese was OK, salmon was good. Would definitely go back if we are in the area again soon.
Well designed dining place with excellent food. Service is good. For some reason, the place leaves me a little cold: since moving from NYC, we are looking for a place to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and this isnt it. I miss the old Bear Inn, which is where we used to go for that occasion, and Le Gigot in Greenwich Village.Prices are a little high but not terribly so.
We made reservations for Thanksgiving and Cucina did an amazing job making the night feel special! They had a wonderful special menu and every course was delicious! Despite being fully booked, the environment felt cozy and the staff was prepared with a limited wait. We are so happy with our reservation, can’t wait to come back!
OMG. Run dont walk to this place. Yep, its crowded and noisy and expensive but the food is to die for... The wait staff is pretty awesome, too. I havent sat outside yet (too cold for me even with all those propane heaters which look pretty cool) but the porch seating looks very pleasant. Great fireplace inside as well if you are lucky enough to be seated in that room. Definitely recommend!
Coming from Longisland we have an endless amount of options for food. Cucina was one of the best diners me and my husband have had. The salads were FANTASTIC!! The main course we had salmon with the truffle which was to die for. Rigatoni with sausage was delicious. And we ventured off what we would traditionally get for desert with the butterscotch pudding which was as equally amazing as everything else.Waiter was perfect and the atmosphere was too. We hope to be back before we return home
Service was very attentive and the breads to start were very tasty. My partner and I both got some non alcoholic drinks that were also pretty good. The main courses however were mediocre. We both ordered pasta and the dishes were brought out less than 10 minutes from ordering, so probably just reheated, or at least not made to order. The gnocchi was mushy, even though the red sauce it was in was decent. The ravioli was in a watery under seasoned sauce and was pretty unremarkable. While the setting and service was great, the food really let us down.
I really like this place. At times I even love it. I have been eating here for years. When the food is good it is great but their is no reliable consistency. Sometimes a meal is perfect the next time , meh, not so much. I will say I have spent A TON of money here, was a regular, 5-6 days a week for 4 months when their was no kitchen in my house.... not once did they offer to buy me a drink, send out an appetizer or take care of a dessert. With the amount if regulars that ho there. I dont think its cool to not really acknowledge their loyalty, let alone their $$$
Making a reservation over email was easy and friendly. The food was delicious, I especially loved the risotto! This issues we had were waiting 90 minutes for food and the fact that porch seating is exposed, so it was a very hot night and we felt it for sure. The staff uniform appeared to be a flannel shirt as well, that seemed cruel in that weather!Food was a winner but we might have caught a bad night for service because our server seemed annoyed that we were there and she was hard to get ahold of. So with all of that and a very long wait for food, I’d say I recommend this spot but don’t go in a time crunch and don’t assume the service experience will be consistently good.
Cucina is a great looking place, very dog friendly. Unfortunately our food wasnt as good as I was hoping based on other reviews. The rigatoni was a bit more Al dente then would have liked, the pizza crust is super thin, so thin you could see through it and the rib eye was a bit fatty. The waitress and atmosphere are great the food didnt live up to the hype especially considering the cost.
I and my family are regulars at Cucina. We love it there. Tonight we asked to sit outside because we have a young child. We asked to be moved to an empty table near heat lamps because our baby was cold. They refused to accommodate us. We were very cold and I beg the restaurant to be more accommodating if people need to switch tables. The kicker is the table we asked for was empty the entire time we were there. No excuse for that. We will be back because we love the food but we hope they treat us like humans and not just a reservation.
Loved everything for the most part. (Pizza was probably the only thing I wouldn’t recommend because the crust was VERY thin and was mostly cheese. Staff is nice but it was also kinda clear the place was short staffed so things at times were slow and a little messy. Drinks were great!
Tonight was our first experience with Cucina and it was delightful from the get-go. We waited until 4:30pm on a Saturday to try and book a dinner for 7pm. Not shockingly, nothing was available on-line so we took a chance and called. To our delight they said they would find a spot for us and they were true to their word. The place is delightful; warm and inviting. The wait-staff was attentive but not over-bearing. We celebrated our waiters first day back at work in over 6 months as well as our 17 year anniversary. As for the fare, we opted for the specials and our salad, soup and pizza were all palate pleasing. A lovely glass of Barolo and then the flourless chocolate cake and cappuccino for dessert. All fantastic. We had a great time.
Food was excellent. Party of 4 shared calamari (light, not over cooked, not oily at all), ribeye (super tender and flavorful with just the right amount of fat a ribeye should have, served with thin cut rosemary fries. Couldnt tell if they were cooked in peanut oil or duck fat and I would have liked an option for a potato) but they were very good and I would not hesitate to order them again. Chicken Parmaigan was possibly the best I have ever had. This is from someone who cooks Italian and lived for many years in a predominantly Italian neighborhood. Next time I will order it. I did not try the salmon one of our party had, but he was happy with it. If there was one downside, I thought the tables were turned over a bit fast. One dish came out right after another. Understandable because the place was packed when we left and im glad we made early dinner reservations. Drinks, wine, martini, espresso all were good.
Disappointing. Made reservations for my partner’s birthday with a request to have a candle to blow out for dessert. They forgot about it or was never communicated to the waiter. I would of told him at the side but he never came back to our table after the entrees were dropped off. I had to pay the check with a different waiter. The appetizer(eggplant parm) was cold. Salmon was over cooked. Tiramisu had no flavor. Wish we had a better experience. Was expecting fine dining but it was just okay. Atmosphere was great though.
Cucina was a lovely place to go on our last night in Woodstock! Atmosphere is great. Candles lit at every table, waiter was attentive and friendly. Food was AMAZING! We got the Pan seared pork chop and the classic chicken parm. Never had such a succulent piece of pork in my life! Also the portions are massive! Great place to go if visiting Woodstock!
My girl and I went to this nice little spot for our last night in Woodstock. We were already enticed by the calm atmosphere, but what REALLY impressed us was the food. Firstly, the prices are a bit high, but the portions justify it. Everything seemed MASSIVE. Especially the incredible chicken parm... that wasnt a patty; that was a CONTINENT. What really got me was the salted caramel gelati. Literal heaven. My partner had the pan roasted pork chop and she was very pleased with it. The server was very good and attentive; and from NYC like us! Im glad I decided to go here; many others will, too. Truly spectacular food.
Wow. Spectacular. My partner and I picked this place on a whim during a short stay in the area and we’re so glad we did because we truly stumbled upon excellence. The interior was cozy and modern, the waitstaff was spectacular (thanks, Justin!) and cocktails were lovely. (As a non-drinker, I really appreciated the house-made sodas.) My partner got the pork loin special with the spaetzle and it was sincerely the most flavorful and the most tender pork loin I’ve ever tasted. My strawberry salad and corn side were spectacular - as were the desserts. Perfection all around. Highly recommended.
Lovely atmosphere, excellent service and great food. Started with salads (avacado, plum, mozzerella and a ceasar dressed salad with bacon, lettuce and cherry tomatos) folliwed by red snapper over rice and a penne putanesca. Sat on the patio and conversed with delightful neighbors.
I was served raw chicken at this restaurant.Cucina is a really nice looking restaurant, and all the servers and folks I talked to were really warm and courteous and professional. The food is okay. The first red flag was that our entrees came to the table incredibly fast. We had barely made a dent in the bread when both the chicken parm and the salmon arrived. Both were lukewarm, but we were really hungry so we just dealt with it. Halfway through the chicken parm I noticed that one bite felt really different texturally. So I examined it on the plate and found it to be almost completely raw. I spit out the bite and flagged it to my server. My meal was then compd, and I was apologized to multiple times, which I appreciated. But I then spent the next several days (the rest of my vacation in the Catskills) worried that I would come down with severe food poisoning or salmonella.Cucina handled the situation as best as they could, and I know it was just a simple kitchen mistake, but raw chicken is an incredibly dangerous thing to be serving to people. As far as mistakes go, I think its pretty much unacceptable.
I really wanted to like this place, but the only thing Cucina has going for it is the chicken parm.Ive ordered take out from here several times and each time the food gets to my car half hot, half cold. I expect much better from a place like this.Probably better when its not a pandemic and you can sit down, but they just dont know how to do take out
Absolutely amazing. Our first time here and was blown away. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. The rest of the staff was very nice. The drinks were great, the food even better. We had the eggplant parm appitizer it was amazing. The steak cooked to a perfect medium rare and the risotto amazing! The carmel ice cream desert and choclate cake was out of this world! Definitely recommend stopping into this restaurant after a beautiful day in Woodstock.
We had higher expectations of the place and overall the experience was mediocre. I wouldnt go back and wouldnt recommend it if someone has a few days in the area. We had significantly better meals elsewhere. I was surprised at how standard everything was -- the menu, the preparation and the service. The menu wasnt very impressive at all; in fact all the dishes across the menu were very standard fare that frankly are easy to replicate at home. Id expected a slightly more innovative menu, especially given the restaurants proximity to fresh, local produce. Many of the dishes were seriously over-salted. Wed ordered a side of fries that arrived quite randomly between the appetizer and entree courses, and we ate these while we waited another 10+ minutes for the main dishes. Didnt really make sense. Lastly the salted caramel ice cream in the sundae (which was delicious) wasnt even homemade, and I found that quite off-putting because, again, what is the role of the restaurant?
This place is very popular so I definitely recommend reservations. The food was good but nothing spectacular. We order the Delmonico steak and pork scallopini. The steak was cook perfect, served with succotash and baby potatoes. No great bold flavors, just served very simply and that’s okay. Unfortunately the pork was rather dry and tough and the sauce was okay, but just very middle of the road with no outstanding flavors. The service was mediocre. When you charge high end prices for a product or service you need to deliver. This place unfortunately did not live up to the expectations.
Tasty food, in modest portions, with friendly, efficient and helpful service. Flavours are well-balanced, and high quality ingredients are used. The price point reflects these facts - not the cheapest dinner in Woodstock, but for the standard of food delivered, not at all overpriced. We tasted their salads, pasta and vegetable side dishes, all of which were lovely. We followed this with sorbet and ricotta cheesecake, which also didnt disappoint. I can see why Cucina is regularly full - for evening meals, reserve ahead to secure yourself an assured, tasty meal.
Overall It was good. We heard a lot of talk about this restaurant around town so we decided to try it. Service was great. The fried squid was good, a bit oil soaked but great fresh flavor. The Parma pizza was just average. The ravioli with spinach and ricotta was very good. But the best things we ate were the deserts, tiramisu, and salted caramel sundae were outstanding.
They have one of the best pizza in America. The service is terrific, incredibly fast and they always accommodate any request with a smile. We were a party of 17 with kids, arrived with a very short notice. We were out, perfectly feeded with delicious pizzas and pastas in an hour. Too bad we live far away, but at any visit in the area, we never miss to indulge ourselves with a meal there.
Cucina was great. I had been once right when the restaurant opened and it was solid. It has definitely improved over the years. I thought that all the items we ordered were delicious: meatballs in marinara over polenta, a prosciutto bruschetta with fig jam and burata, and wife and I each ordered a pasta special. Hers included scallops which were appropriately cooked. We didnt order dessert but we could see many other tables had and the choices looked good. Service was a little slow and inexperienced but not a huge issue. The rooms can get quite loud so just be aware. I really enjoyed my meal and plan to return !
Delicious food, not too expensive, a great menu as well. The interior is welcoming, but a little too tight and not as private as I would like for a date night. Our server was really bad, but I noticed that she wasn’t bad with the older and better dressed clientele. It’s a poor move. The restaurant was casual so I dressed as such, but don’t assume to know my income. I always tip very well and she lost out on a big tip! Otherwise, no complaints. Worth the visit.
Turns out La Cucina is not only a great family restaurant.. they can also pull off an excellent party. Their staff helped us with everything, from organizing a celebration video to be played, to impeccably and timely serving guests foods and drinks that their restaurant whipped up to perfection. La Cucina went out of their way to make the event a truly memorable experience. We’ll always be happy to come back and bring friends.
This restaurant is lovely. Inside is a very warm, cost relaxing atmosphere with a gorgeous fireplace decorated beautifully for the holidays. The staff are very friendly and the food was superb. I got the rigatoni - WOW!! So tasty! Will definitely visit again when in Woodstock!
What a beautiful experience! I knew as soon as we pulled up that it would be a great night! The building is a beautiful buttery colored house with the downstairs converted into cozy dining rooms. It was nice to be able to hang your own coat when you walked in as opposed to having a formal coat check. The lighting was just low enough to afford the restaurant an inviting and warm, romantic feel while still being bright enough to see the menu/food (and your companion, of course!), as well as appreciate the beautiful renovation and revitalization of what is certainly an historic space. Our server was attentive, polite, and very clearly passionate about the menu. We started with the bruschetta, which had beautifully paper thin sliced prosciutto topped with creamy burrata. I had ordered the rigatoni and sausage dish and my husband ordered the ravioli -- both were spectacular! My pasta was perfectly al dente, and the sauce was the ideal thickness to grip to the pasta. The server to patron ratio is correct, and we never had to sit for very long with an empty plate or glass in front of us. Servers were all well trained and efficient. The food was of a remarkable quality, the menu is very thoughtfully constructed and, of the items we ordered, exceptionally executed. Bravi!!!!
The best meal we have had in a long time. Ravioli was zesty and hearty with mushrooms, and pork-chop was superb- tender, peppery and juicy, on a bed of grainy polenta and perfectly seasoned broccoli rabe topped with honey apple.Would drive all the way up to Woodstock just to eat here.
Perfect Relaxing Dining Room and Better Food. I wasnt expecting the inside from looking at the outside. The outside is nice and all but the inside is perfect. Very relaxing and simple. I felt very comfortable there. Our waitress was excellent all around and the food we had was some of the best weve had. I recommend the beef meatballs and the bolognese. But will certainly be back to try more.
We enjoyed dinner on the covered porch in order to enjoy the evening. We found the food to be very good, and the service first-rate. One of our dinner companions declared the pizza she ordered to be delicious. I enjoyed a linguine with shrimp dish that contained a healthy portion of shrimp in a large dish of linguine tossed in a delicious tomato sauce.I would recommend a meal at Cucina during any stay in the Woodstock NY area.
Amazing kale salad...amazing fried squid calamari. The egg drop soup was one of the best soups Ive ever tasted. The service is perfect. Sit outside and have dinner. The Bear and La Cucina are the best restaurants in town.I dont know who gave them any less than a 5 star... Ive gone to this restaurant since it opened.
Excellent apps and entrees. Server was excellent except that the courses came out too quickly - no sooner had the app plates been cleared that the entree was placed down. The desserts were inferior to the rest of the meal. Sorry, but getting your desserts from Seizing doesnt work. At best the pumpkin and Apple pie were mediocre.
After spending the day in Woodstock we were asking around where to eat and someone suggested Cucina. We actually past it twice because the signs were small and it looked sort of like a big house from the road. We werent really sure what to expect as we went inside but the decor was simple with a touch of elegance. We didnt have reservations and were sort of underdressed I think but it was early and we were seated really quickly.Everyone on the staff was smiley and friendly and when asked for a suggestion about food or drink they were great. The food was beyond fabulous, every dish was perfect and delicately seasoned allowing the patron to finish to thier taste. Service was spot on, there when you needed them but not hovering when you wanted to just chat with your table mates.Ive traveled extensively and eaten in some of the best restaurants in the world, this place rated right up there.
Weve been to this place several times: the food was consistently good and tasty. We come from NYC so its hard to impress us with good food but Cucina manages to do a great job. We also visited Henrys at the Farm (way better reviews btw), but the food there was average - Cucina is way nicer both in terms of food and ambiance. I wonder who all these people are who are giving Cucina one/two stars are and whether they actually tried the food instead of writing about new people and HR policies and some other non-relevant bs or complaining about the price of dishes: if its expensive for you, dont go there, try Olive Garden and be happy with 9.99 pasta instead of trashing a good place that prepares high-quality fresh dishes at a restaurants price. We tried different main courses and appetizers (not pasta!) and everything was quite impressive: best crabcakes Ive ever had, great shrimps with white beans, great halibut and well-prepared salmon and amazing tiramisu with italian-style espresso.Short summary: good place, great food, wine selection by the glass could be a bit better, but its a minor comment.
Absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. We sat on the front porch since it was a lovely night. Their menu had many choices, including a price fixed menu. My husband and I split an endive salad with shredded pear, apples, and walnuts. Then I had a pork scaloppini with polenta and chorizo, which was amazing. My husband also enjoyed his lobster tail with Linguini Arabiatta. Definitely one of the most delicious meals Ive had in a while. Very friendly staff too.
Went to Cucina for my girlfriends birthday, which also happened to be New Years eve. My girlfriend made the reservation on the phone about three weeks prior for a table of six. We stopped in the night before the dinner to reconfirm and to look at the table. We spoke to the young lady at the desk, who appeared to be the manager. She showed us the table we would be getting and we explained that a few folks would just be stopping by for a drink and appetizer and would be leaving. On the night of the dinner, we were seated at the table and whrn the menus came, they only had a choice for a $78 price fixe dinner. We explained to the waitress that nobody had made us aware during any of the three previous touch points that there was only a price fixe dinner option, which didnt meet our needs under the circumstances. The waitress said that she would call a manager over. When the manager came, it was the same young woman who had shown us the table the previous night. We told her that we were not informed about the price fixe menu. She told us that she had shown us the menu the previous night, which was absolutely not true. Not only did she contradict her customers once, but she did it three times instead of just apologizing for the confusion. This manager took what was to have been a special occasion and absolutely ruined it by contradicting us and being argumentative at the table. She could have made this win-win for everybody since there was a non-price fixe menu being offered at the bar that we ended up getting , and at the very least apologize for the confusion. She did not do that and her unprofessionalism and lack of experience and fine customer service was all she exhibited. I asked for her first name so that I could make the owner aware of who I was dealing with and she refused to give it. Unheard of!I would hope that a restaurant like this would do a better job. My girlfriend is a local having lived here for 28 years & was a Cucina fan. I myself am not & always felt that they were significantly overpriced for what was offered. In any case, we will not be back & strongly suggest that you be careful here if it is a special occasion. They just dont seem to care.By the way, they didnt even comp the birthday cake with candle after all that!
I tried to get that one star to turn off, it would not. The food was terrible, steaks not prepared as ordered, the salmon was slimy and the portions were a joke for the price. Our waitress obviously needed MUCH more training- what a space cadet. One cannot run a successful restaurant on great french fries.
Service was really bad and long waits for everything. Children were literally running in circles and screaming/yelling around our table for half of the time. The food was worse:Salad - No dressingMy pizza - crust was 2mm thin and was saturated/gross with grease. Barely edibleWIfes ravioli - seems like it was frozen minutes before. There was barely any filling in ravioli and was pretty much all dough. Not coming back.
What a lovely dning experience in Woodstock. Their menu offers a plethora of fine cuisine meticulously prepared. The risotto with shrimp and mushrooms was perfect and my sister enjoyed the meatballs with polenta served over a wonderful marinara sauce. The side dish of vegetables was most appealing and I wish to have left room for dessert...
If you are in Woodstock, you must go here for a meal at least once. The outdoor area is the perfect spot for an evening dinner on a warm night. The food (and pasta in particular) is superb - I recommend the Burrata salad, Penne (first pasta dish on the menu), and caramel corn sundae.
What a lovely restaurant in a lovely city!+Warm basket of bread+Restaurant decor+Staff+drinksThe pizza has a crunchy and thin crost and the rosemary fres are also very tasty.-The pasta however didnt blow me away. It lacked passion, flavor and sauce for a dish that claims to have creamy parmesan sauce.Id go bck for a pizza and a drink
You cant miss Cuccina. Its at the junction of Rtes 375 and 312.Step into Cuccina and you are entering the sophisticated world of Northern Italy, but with z casual air. The furniture and décor are all in muted colors. The menu is clearly Northern Italian. Among my favorite dishes are the individual pizzas, which have thin, crispy crusts. But you cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is excellent. Price is on the high side.
A GOOD REVIEW OF THIS RESTAURANT.When Cucina restaurant first opened, it was great food and ambiance. The staff was excellent, then it all, for some unknown reasons, started to flop downhill. We frequent the place quite often and each time, we see new faces. Not good for business. It seems Cucina cant keep good staffing. We have sat at a table, ordered entrees but not anymore. Not after the poor service/food. The bartenders have a lot left to be desired for lack of education in preparing drinks. I have asked several, and their responses were -- they learn basically on the job. Not good for the restaurant. I understand celebrities and famous News people have frequent Cucina; I guess thats when they first opened? Or, do they get special treatment and great food? You need a knowledgeable person with an HR background to hire an excellent staff for you in the food industry. That will include well-trained bartenders and waitresses and a well-dressed maître d who knows what it means to be polite. This HR person would teach them how to be cordial to the customers and how to have a proper dress code. Those short skirts are not cutting it because they dont fit every body type. Chef Robert Irvine from HGTV should take a look at Cucina, he would make it right. One thing I noticed is that your customers seem to be on the older side, as in over the hill, and thats absolutely fine, but ask yourself why the younger generation is not popping in. You may have a few young Globetrotters coming in here and there. But your regulars sit at the bar and chat -- nursing that one drink when others are waiting for a seat at the bar. Since they are locals, and you know them well, you should speak diplomatically to them about time spent at the bar. Losing them and gaining others is fine. Is one drink per a regular taking up space going to make or break Cucina when you have people with money waiting for drinks. BTW, your white beans with shrimp were good but somehow the beans the other night were undercooked. Causing stomach problems for me. IMO, you should get a well-trained Chef immediately; youre losing customers. Dont you managers take note of your customers or you just sit back and collect the $$$? Not good for Woodstock. AND, those reviews you see that are excellent, hmmmm they are they your friends or the regulars? Cuz, it aint all that. i am a Woodstocker and would like to see Cucina improve on the issues people are talking about within your reviews. Thats what reviews are for -- critiquing. Like what I am doing. I own a business and have Cucina listed as one of the best restaurants in Woodstock; now I am suspending it until you get your act together. I will continue to visit as always to see if you guys are really reading these reviews. That other restaurant -- and you know which one on 28, when opened, has a parking lot full of cars and people waiting in line for good food and drinks to be served. They are taking over. We know the owners. Yes, Ive been there. ouch. I need a good drink when I am at your bar next. Find me. IF YOU WANT TO KEEP CUCINAS, NAME GOOD, start hiring! My two cents.......A good and honest citizen!
I took my wife here for our wedding anniversary hoping to have a nice romantic dinner, but ended up with a horrible evening. When we first arrived for our 7pm reservation we found that there was no parking due to some sort of fiesta in the barn out in the parking lot. We were forced to get creative and balance our car in a patch of grass between the road and other park cars.We then had to walk through the dining room full of people to a dimly lit desk in the rear of the packed bar. We were then seated literally 8 from another table and found it nearly impossible to hear each other over the dining room noise. We ordered some Margaritas since that was the only cocktail on their list that we remotely recognized. About ten minutes later we were told that the bar was backed up so we should probably just order our appetizer, which we did! So we went with the crispy squid, you know what the rest of the world calls fried calamari. Ever since we were dating, my wife and I have found that restaurants that do calamari well usually end up being a good restaurant. The calamari here was okay, meaning it was cooked properly, but it had breading with absolutely no flavor. Even the spicy sauce they describe in the menu was dull and flavorless and definitely not spicy. Now let’s talk about the margarita, which arrived in a small 3” glass with a lime wedge and was the color of weak coffee. The best way I can describe the taste of it is if you were to mix some cheap tequila with a little hot sauce, pepper and a squeeze of lime. Sounds great right?Anyway we now move on to our main courses, I went with the pumpkin ravioli hoping for a nice autumn flavor and my wife chose the shrimp linguini. Now here is when the fun really begins! Our impeccably dressed and groomed food runner who didn’t appear stoned at all (that is all sarcasm) brought our meals out and shoved by wives bowl right into a full glass of water landing it right in her lap. Needless to say we now became the focus of the entire dining room as my wife leaped from her seat and yelped with surprise. The couch she was sitting on was now drenched and we were forced to move to the other side of our neighbors table and it firmly planted us now 8” from them and 8”from another table on the opposite side. Our waitress and another lady apologized for the kid soaking my wife, but they came back to the table 4 more times to ask if we were ok, each time interrupting our meal. In the end they said the entrees would be on the house. We thought “ok well that is something”, even though we didn’t make a big deal about any of this, we really were just hoping for some alone time. Each lady came over to say tell us this, however; when we asked for the check we found that we were charged for the entrees and giving the appetizer and cocktails for free. They made out on 10 bucks, but again at this point I just wanted out, so I paid and tipped because after all it wasn’t the waitresses fault. So let’s get back to those entrees shall we? My pumpkin ravioli came with eight flat ravioli spread across a plate. The pumpkin flavor was very disappointing as there was so little filling that each bite was a doughy bland disappointment. It left me so unsatisfied and hungry that I actually went and bought a pumpkin pie at the grocery store right after we left. My wife’s shrimp linguini that any home cook can make with great success, was over cooked. The shrimp were spongy and the pasta was soft and the sauce had no seasoning. As a lifetime resident of the Hudson Valley I can appreciate our unique culture and the sort of people it attracts. However, that is all this place is about; there is no real culinary creativity or skill here, it is all just a bunch of pretentious crap that mocks our areas real culinary experiences.
The best thing about Cucina: The service was friendly and the food came pretty quickly. The worst thing about Cucina: Everything else.Ive been to Cucina twice before and have each time been sorely disappointed. With so many decent reviews, my husband and I decided to give it one more chance, as it would be so nice to have another choice of an eatery in town.My husband ordered the basil margarita, which, with the exception of one lonely basil leaf floating aimlessly in the glass, tasted neither of basil nor tequila. It was a surprisingly pink liquid that tasted like limeade. I ordered a glass of the red Tuscan wine that was flabby but potable. Strike one.We shared the thin crust goat cheese/pear/fig jam/arugula/truffle oil pizza. For starters, there is thin crust pizza, and then there is Matzo pizza. This resembled the latter. I barely tasted the goat cheese, but there were squares of gooey unidentifiable cheese that overwhelmed the dish. The fig jam was overly sweet and underly figgy. The truffle oil tasted less of truffle and more of just some kind of oil. The arugula was pleasantly spicy but sparse. I pronounced it Meh. My husband pronounced it artless. Strike two.The final blow was my entree, one of the evenings specials of slow roasted halibut, with Jerusalem artichokes, celeriac, some kind of exotic mushroom, and cherry tomatoes. Sounds yummy, right? At $29/a pop, it better be.My fish was cooked well but completely lacking in flavor. By completely, I mean no salt, pepper or seasonings could be detected. Total Blah. The mushrooms were few and a bit slimy. The most offensive part was the Jerusalem artichokes. They were unpeeled, and undercooked, resulting in a bunch of woody turds on my plate under my fish. Some still had grit clinging to them. Apparently washing them under running water is beneath the chef. Strike three. If I could add strikes four, five, and six, I would.I have no intention of returning to this restaurant ever again. If Ill want to have pizza, Ill go a little down the road to Ricks Woodfired Grilled Pizza which is sublime and and a good value. As far as Cucinas good reviews? Either the Emperor has no clothes, or the owner is well connected in town and bribes everyone to write something nice.Oh, one more good thing about Cucina - I sure didnt overeat and put on weight tonight.
Makes us sad to give a mediocre review but this place that used to be magic, has gone down hill. Food, service and even play list is off. Went from great all around and attention to detail, to skimping out. Please bring back the great management, menu and details. We want to see you win .✨
We stopped going here after asking for one extra lamb chop and was charged an extra 14 dollars for the one extra chop, and the calimari was half the size of the previous dinner here. The place has gotten cocky with a goosestepping manager (although I agree with her style- she keeps the waitstaff in line- I would do the same as she does) but a sort of drab but clean interior. The place is PRICEY for what you get.
Most of their food is GMO (ie. cheap and low quality). The ambiance is not bad (except for the kids running around), but pasta was bland and undercooked (pieces sticking together). If they switch to a chef who cares and go all organic, Ill update this review to 5 stars.
Very impressed with the training and dedication of the staff! Great simplistic menu with all areas covered. The price reflects the envirornment, atmosphere and plentiful staff...... (if it was made affordable, it would be too obtainable and those of us who truly appreciate the simplistic perfection would be turned off by the type of crowd such a change would draw) Well done

2022-06-20On a bright sunshiny although blustery and unseasonably cool June 22 day hunger and proximity brought me to Cucina in Woodstock NY. I chose to sit on the lovely wisteria vined porch. I craved the NY strip steak which comes with thin shoe string French fries and a small lightly dressed pile of arugula. I had a glass of French red and a fresh Oj. I hadn’t eaten all day so I was really hungry and thirsty too. They offered bread with my meal but I live GF so when I declined my waitress told me about their GF pizza crust as an alternative. It’s made with cauliflower ,tapioca flour, yeast etc.. when baked its sprinkled with rosemary and flake salt then served with olive oil for dipping. It was delicious. My steak was perfectly cooked, at my requested MR ,flavorful and juicy . The shoe string French fries were hot ,crispy and perfectly seasoned. Arugula is arugula but with the cilantro sauce ,served for the steak, was perfect to balance out the bitter greens. The furnaces were set up as the evening progressed but fortunately for me , who had zero plans for dining out, they sell warm clothing brandishing their name! Wait staff and the manager were very helpful and efficient. The porch became more crowded but I was blissfully enjoying every bite of my meal.I didn’t eat too many fries because I saw the specials. One of the specials was a rhubarb strawberry crisp with vanilla ice cream.. I gave in. When asked if I liked it I happened to be tearfully remembering my deceased relatives who I shared this with in times past.. This dessert was delicious as the blend of tart and sweet with creamy and nutty bites evoked emotions I hadn’t expected! Food should reach your heart and this meal did all of that for me.

2022-03-08Lovely authentic Italian restaurant in Woodstock. The atmosphere was really enjoyable as well. I highly recommend the Fusilli Bolognese. Make sure you bring your appetite, so you make room for dessert.

2021-08-17I am not the biggest fan of Italian food but I adored this spot! The patio seating was picturesque, with beautiful ivy framing the entire porch. Our whole family was happy with our meals, but my favorite was probably the goat cheese and pear pizza (well, I would call it more of a flatbread, but it was delicious no matter what they called it!). Service was lovely as well. I definitely think this is a great spot to stop by!

2022-05-20Went to Cucina had my usual delicious soup 🍲, Bartender was amazing... BUT Then I ordered their ($17) margarita pizza($17) I was shocked at what I had received 😅. Not only is there no fresh mozzarella on the pie , but look at the crust , seems to be a cracker like material. I placed the lemon for size reference.... lets continue.... so I tell the Bartender that it was really terrible and they should immediately stop serving this pizza to the public just for the mere respect of the customers and Italian culture. Again I wasnt being confrontational I was just explaining how sad and pathetic this pizza was. The manager slowly creeped over the Bartender shoulder and she said is there a problem? and I said its very obvious and she said o its a different style of pizza and I said this isnt a different style pizza , its Terrible The manager seemed to be personally upset about this pizza , I know I was.... she then stated if the owner heard you say that he would kick you out .... I wasnt being loud I wasnt being rude, I was just letting them know that they really need to understand they are serving sup-par ingredients and charging TOP DOLLAR 💵 💰 . Being from Woodstock I should have know better then to order pizza from cucina, (it being a known tourist spot) I will do everything in my power to stand up In the name of pizza 🍕 🍕, DONT call yourself Authentic Italian cuisine and serve people middleschool pizza . But you know like the guy at the bar said ... There probably just making it really thin and without fresh mozzarella to make a bunch of money off tourists well this local felt very much like a tourist today. I actually would have preferred the pizza I got as a child In middle school. We will fight for 🍕! Its really not that hard...

2021-06-08If you’re looking for a place to have an amazing meal in a pretty spot go to Cucina. I’ve had many dinners there and they never fail to impress on the food and the atmosphere is elegant farmhouse. Delicious Italian food from farm to table. The wait staff are so upbeat and kind. The experience is great from all angles. I always enjoy their homemade soda of lemon and thyme. They have a small bar area that you can sit and relax before or after dinner.Cucina is always the highlight of my Woodstock stays, and I’ve built the most special memories in that historic farmhouse. Cucina is perfect for a romantic dinner or a meal with a group of friends alike

2021-11-05✨We had an excellent experience from the moment I had to call to let them know we would be 30 minutes late (on a Friday night-prime time!)…they said, “no worries, we will shuffle things around” to accommodate our tardiness. WOW!! Service, food & ambiance was perfect! Glad we decided not to go to an over rated LEPETITE BISTRO IN RHINEBECK !!✨

2022-04-14Chadwick is the best server we have ever had! Kind, sweet, and attentive. He paid close attention to detail (we have strict diets and allergies). It was refreshing to have someone understand our diets. The place was very accommodating to our requests and the food was amazing. The outdoor atmosphere at night with the fires on the deck was magical too.

2021-10-17Plates are big - and delicious. The chicken parm was soo good that I almost returned the other day. Prices are fair - cocktails range 12-14 and most pastas around 20-25.Only pushback in my view is that they are too fast serving, cleaning tables, bringing the bill. Feels like NYC, but I got their point. They are overall fully-booked so trying to sit as many clients as possible is part of the game.
