On 5th Av at 46th St.Three floors of books of all kinds. You can sit and read or have a coffee upstairs, Americano ... interesting for us is the section on NY near the entrance. There are also magazines that everyone browses. The childrens section is on the lower level.

2020-11-04This is a great bookstore and Cafe located at thee western end of 168th Street and Haven Avenue. It’s directly across from the New York State Psychiatric Institute. They feature books of Columbia doctors as well as paperbacks, best sellers and gifts. They also sell medical textbooks and Columbia University clothing. They have a dedicated staff and often have great bargains and sale items. The cafe is run by Starbucks and has a pretty extensive selection of meals and snacks. And they have one of the cleanest bathrooms in the area!

2022-03-12The sales staff just stare at you when you walk in and dont even greet you. The plus is if you ask for help they will try to help you, but basic aura is the typical unconcerned millennial attitude. I guess everyone by passes the store part and heads over to the Starbucks Cafe section thats attached to the store . . . Furthermore, I was hoping to find a better selection at a nearby location, which when you look up 3954 west 168th St, it doesnt say Its permanently closed. I asked the young lady that was the cashier if the place on Bway and 168 would have more of a selection . . . She started to tell me that it was the place that they had just moved from, but for some reason didnt finish her statement when I asked her again she said yes they would have a wider selection and wouldnt look in my face as she said it. What kinda of unprofessional madness is that? I have not been in the area for a long time and realized when I reached Bway and between 165 and 164th that the book store that still shows as if its open at 3954 was in fact permanently closed because the store is now at 711 west 168th on Haven Ave . . . Annoying!!!

2021-09-08While the gentleman at the ebtrance was really polite and helpful, the sales agent downstairs (looking after the clothing section by the cashiers) was extremely rude and rushed me to be done as they were just closed. Mind this happened at 7:06pm and the store closes at 7pm.

2017-06-11I like this place, a great place to find some discounted books, notebooks, etc. Selection is generally limited and relevant to Columbia U Medical program. I usually go to the Starbucks thats connected to this store. More quiet than other places, not crowded, clean. You can easily read a book, work on laptop, or have a quiet conversation.

2018-04-04My favorite of a dying dinosaur--the most beautiful, underrated place of all--the bookstore. It is quaint, warm and inviting-a place you can travel the world for hours and be home by dinner time. I can disappear for hours as I peruse their vast array of every type of media, not just books, on everything the world encompasses within its thousands of square footage of well appointed space. I recommend it with every fiber of my being!!!!

2021-08-23Small Columbia University bookstore with a Starbucks. Seating is available inside and outside. Columbia merch, books, and supplies.

2020-01-20This shouldnt be labelled as a B&N bookstore. Its a university story/cafe selling mostly merchandise with a couple of shelves of mostly textbooks and airport fiction. Wasted 2 hours making the trek up here only to discover the above.

2017-08-25Small place advertises Starbucks items but not many actual options. Their 2 for $4 deal says any tea/coffee and any size but not true. Upsize or buy a chai tea (even using a tea bag) and you get charged extra.

2017-11-20CUMC book store. They sell a few bestsellers but not that much outside the medical textbook genre. Starbucks with ample outdoor and indoor seating. Hidden gem for studying in the Heights.

2019-08-03This is a cute little campus B&N, with a Starbucks and little gifts, toys, cards, and a small selection of books that might interest the general population and health-related books.
