My friends and I love this place so much! We love to get the bacon pajun. I like the kalguksoo (long noodle) more than the sujebi although both are great. The sujebi is just a little more thick and starchy. The staff are so sweet and nice and the side dishes are great. The portions are pretty big though so consider sharing!
We got the chicken and clam kalguksu noodles, mandu both steamed and pan-fried. We also ordered a okonomiyaki/pajun. Yummmmm! Crispy, tons of seafood, and a huge amount of Bonito flakes dancing on top! The owners make their own noodles, mandu/dumpling dough, and all the their own banchan. The kimchi is so good and fresh. The owners were super friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. They gave the kids their own non-spicy fish cake banchan. The food tastes like Moms, only better. (Sorry Mom!) Highly highly recommend. My kids loved it too.
Serious make over! I am loving the new interior. I am so so so glad to see Daesung growing and expanding so I can continue to enjoy their delicious food! This is my go-to place for Kalguksu and theyre still killing it at their new location. Props to the business owner(s) who decided to stay close to the original location so people always know where to go for amazing kalguksu. Theyre sanitizing, cleaning, measuring temperatures, so you can enjoy dining comfortably. Heres a big thank you!
Savory, homely, and very satisfying!Worth the trip all the way out to the northern boulevard. About a 30 minute walk from the q58 or Main St station.Seat for 2 was quick, the enclosure out in the back was great. Kept out the elements and was roomy.Kimchi and soy pickled radish were good starters and there was plenty of kimchi.Started with steamed mandu (dumplings). Definitely homemade. The skin was sticky, tender, and had really nice soft mochi like consistentcy, thick and thin at the same time. It was filled with minced meat and chives.Seafood bacon pancake with bonito flakes. This was HUGE and came sizzling out on a hot plate. It was packed with seafood and scallions. Crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. The thick layer of bonito flakes added a savoriness and complemented the seafood really well. One of the best seafood pancake. And finally seafood thin noodles. The broth was refreshing with the that briny-ness from the clams and mussels. The noodles were just right. The seafood broth was just excellent with the mandu and went really well with the savory seafood pancake and kimchi.little neck clams thin noodles with spicy broth was just as excellent! This meal was really satisfying. The food were delicious. Service was on point. Seats were good even in the enclosure. Will definitely come back!!!
This place never disappointed me on their food. I had variety of foods, noodles, dumplings, pan cakes and etc. All of them never betrayed once on how they taste. Spicy noodle tastes very clean, crisp and sweet, not in sugar sweet but natural fruit sweet. One of my favorite place to visit throughout a whole year. Definitely recommend this place.
Excellent Seafood Pancake and Kalguksu. Their kimchee is also some of the best. The range of selection is modest, but they do each item well. They also give you a LOT of food! We usually go for the regular haemul pajeon (not the oko one where it comes with bonito flakes and mayo on top) and a seafood Kalguksu. Prices are slightly steeper than other similar Korean noodle shops, but it is well worth it for the amount and quality of food you get.
This place is has some truly amazing food. The price is reasonable considering the quality of the ingredients. The seafood pancake was packed full of perfectly cooked shrimp and squid. The beef bulgolgi hand sliced noodle was so tasty and smokey. The portions are very large, one bowl can certainly feed two people. Two dishes would be perfect for three people. There is no designated parking, so youre stuck circling for street parking in a busy area.Overall, I would rank this among the very best Korean food spots in NYC.
Seafood pancake was 5/5. It was very crispy and had a lot of seafood in it. Just a bit pricey but worth paying.Clam noodles soup was 3/5. It had the fishlike smell because of the clams. Soup was okay but had a lot of clams in the soup.Black bean noodle soup was 4/5. Noodle soup was good and tasty.I might come back for the pancakes but not for the clam Kalgooksoo.
Ladies and Gents..... at Dae Sung Korean Noodle, youll meet and enjoy the most delicious Seafood Pancake in the Western Hemisphere! Dae Sung Kal Guk Sus Seafood Pancake Game is strong, dude....! 🔥🔥🔥 This beauty of a Seafood Pancake came out sizzling!!! So thankful to have been able to enjoy this with wonderful family. Fantastic food, the perfect company, is the best combination for an outstanding night. Also the best way to leave a spot full and fulfilled! We also enjoyed two beautiful bowls of noodle soup. One called: Seafood Soft Tofu Kal Guk Su and another called Beef Bulgogi Kalguksu. Both perfectly delicious! Its time to schedule your visit!
Staff was very friendly, clean and interior was very nice!!Most importantly, we ordered bulgogi noodle soup, and bibim fried dumpling, and seafood &bacon okonomiyaki pancake, it was way beyond we expected. Very very delicious!! we will def gonna go back and try other menu!! highly recommended.
Everything tasted sooo good! The kalguksu and mandu tasted nice and clean, and the kimchi was so good as well! I was most surprised by the oko-pajun because Ive never seen this fusion combo before, but it was SO GOOD! Highly recommend. The restaurant was recently renovated and super clean too.
Great service, delicious food, clean. This was my first time having kalguksu, and I dont see any reason to try any other restaurant. I had the spicy seafood kalguksu and my wife had the signature and they were both absolutely delicious. The kimchi they gave us for banchan was some of the best kimchi either of us have had (although I wouldve preferred a more fermented product, this was delicious but too fresh). Finally, their pajun (pancakes) were like homemade pajun - more filling than dough - unlike other restaurants that sprinkle a bit of veg in a thick dough cake and call it a day. Excellent experience and cant wait to return.
Absolutely consistent quality for many many years. Missing the days when we all ate inside, struggling with the surprisingly hot noodle with the hearty soup. Stay strong and see you when you open for indoor sitting. The soup was still warm when we got home (20min.) from the store (pick up).
Anyone who appreciates hand cut noodles will love Daesung Kalguksu. They have two options for noodle types: hand cut long noodles (kalguksu) or flat wide noodle nuggets (sujebi). What they’re also known for is their pancakes which are served on hot cast iron pans. The oko pajeon are served with bonito fish flakes which make the dish come “alive”. Beautiful smoky flavor from the fish flakes and definitely my comfort spot when I’m back in Flushing.P.S. I saw they had buy 1 get 1 free for any alcohol!
Korean comfort food. Noodles and pancakes all taste good and waitresses are warm welcoming people that always make us comfortable with children coming with us.They renovated this year and the store now looks much bigger and fancier. They have outdoor dining in front and back.
Let me tell you - I am so happy when I eat here. Everything about it is great. It feels like a treat even though it’s affordable comfort food.First time I ate here was in the middle of summer last year. It was hot af and we just came back from the beach, and not sure how we ended up going to a noodle soup restaurant. This was when they were at their old location several doors down. That meal was so delicious and we all left really impressed, satisfied, and bellies full.I’ve come back with different groups of friends since and even on my 8 year anniversary and it’s been as good as that first time. There was nothing wrong with their previous space though older and no frills. But now that they’ve moved into a much larger, modern, and bright space, we’re even more delighted to eat there because it means they’ve been doing well. (Hopefully) Best of all is that nothing has changed with their food and service. Quality has not gone down and price is the same. Their amazing kimchi is still the same. We usually share a seafood oko pancake and knife cut noodles with clams. It is such a solid meal - I highly recommend! For covid times - they have plenty of outdoor tables with umbrellas during the summer and tents during the rain/winter. They take temp check, contact info, sanitize tables, and space out tables.
I get nervous when a good restaurant relocates and expand because it usually fails due to deteriorating food quality. This Korean noodle house, however, is an exception. While most places compromises food presentation (understandably) during this pandemic, Daesung stepped up big time. Noodle soups are served on bronze bowl and kimchi on bronze plate. Utensils are high grade authentic ones from Korea. And they managed to improve taste pretty much everything on the menu, from their signature knife noodles to seafood pancake & dumpling. I did 3 takeouts and 2 indoor dining during the pandemic and I have zero reason to slow down supporting this amazing place during this tough time.
Best covid-19 takeout ever! Ordered takeout on seamless the first time today and picked up at the store. The owners were so nice and even replaced our black bean noodle broth to a new one at pickup because it was getting warm! Store is still closed for dine-in but take out and delivery available. Ordered dumplings, seafood pajeon, black bean noodle, sundubu jjigae - lots of dishes but packed clean/stayed warm when I got home. And one of the best kimchi side dish (they gave us 3 side dishes including kimchi, fish cake, and pickled radish). By far the most satisfactory takeout experience post covid era :)
Theyre combination of soft tofu soup(soondubu) and kalguksu is a must have. I enjoyed mine with seafood and theyre not skimpy with the black mussels. There was a normal portion of shrimp, clams, and even a whole baby octopus! The portion size is HUGE and easily shareable.
The food is delicious here. We ordered too much pajeon (seafood pancake), so most of us couldnt finish the noodles. I did because I was still hungry. The noodles are well made and the flavor of the soup is really good. J recommend trying it. By the way, the spicy soup might be a bit spicy, so be cautious when ordering it. The medium spicy (just ask deul-mepgeh) is great too.
Yummy. Love that they have two separate soy sauces for dumpling and the pancakes. Service was great. Loved the Christmas decor even if it was nearing Feb. The pancakes are good if you dont mind them thick and crispy, almost like theyre deep fried instead of lightly fried on the bottom, but then again where do you find lightly fried anything in a restaurant, esp scallion pancakes both Chinese and Korean.Im not a big kalgooksoo fan but I enjoyed the dumplings and the regular pancake and a bit of my familys noodles. They make bibimyun all the time, the ones in spicy sauce not in soup and with lots of veggies - but Ill order that next time. I would go again to try the various types of pancakes. And if someone was craving a large noodle soup.Did I mention service was great? It was like Nadree where the ladies care whether you enjoy their meal and the experience.
Best noodles and pancake ever!If you want to taste mama Kims Korean food, then this is the place to go. You can tell its authentic cause the TV has no subtitles, its all Korean. Nonetheless, dont be scared, they speak English. We came here to celebrate my girlfriends birthday and ordered the seafood pancake (pajun) and it was the best seafood pancake we have ever had. Packed full of seafood and crunchy unlike others which are usually soggy from all the grease. Its also quite a hefty servings size.I had the bulgogi tofu sujebi for my main course and it was the best decision I made that night. These are the best noodles and broth I have ever had, Im salivating while typing this review. My girlfriend had the clam kalguksu which was also very yummy and warm. I cant wait to come back for some more.
This place has the best pajun ever. Their kalgooksoo is really good too!I came here around 2pm for lunch. There was plenty of street parking which is a plus.Ive never heard of this place nor been to but my goodness I am so glad I finally tried this gem. Its a bit on the small side but oh boy it is delicious. They are known for their okonomiyaki pajun. AND IT IS DELICIOUS. Its pajun + the flakey things on top. But they tingle my tastebuds like no other pajun had.I had the spicy clam kalgooksoo which was warm and delicious on a cold day. I came with a friend, and we were full having shared a kalgooksoo and the pajun. It is a big serving of food.I cant wait to come back. Must get the pajun if you go!
I dont really want to share this with anyone but my hubby says it would be unfair not to share this place. Best kalguksuk style noodle and pajun aka Korean pancake you will ever have in life.Any of the noodles is great, I like the long noodles and my bff likes the hand cut noodles. But you must, I repeat must get the pancake and bimbim mandoo! Now get in your car or take the bus and go and thank me later!
The clam noodle soup is the best in NYC! If you like thinner sujebi you can ask for it. The soup taste does tend to fluctuate a little but its the best one!! The kimchi is also fresh and delicious. One of the best Kalguksu/Sujebi restaurants in New York! If you like sujebi thin, make it thin, and the pickled vegetables are always fresh and delicious. The staff are also friendly. Ive tried other menu items (seafood/spicy kalguksu/clams sundubu kalguksu), but the original clam kalguksu/sujebi is the best.

2022-02-12This place specializes on two types of food so Im not surprised that theyre both really good. The seafood(w/ bacon) pancake was super crispy and packed with seafood in it. For the noodles the broth was very warming on a cold day. I think they make their own noodles or something. They had a nice bite to them.I also like how they have a little cubby next to the tables that hold everything you need like sou sauce and utensils.Oh one pro tip on using their sou sauce, put your finger on the black part on the top then tilt to pour THEN lift your finger. Please dont be like me and make a mess everywhere.

2022-02-16Came for the noodles and left obsessed with the pancakes. That’s not to say the noodles weren’t good. Both the kalguksu and sujebi were fresh and springy with plenty of seafood and a piping hot broth in a portion large enough to feed two. The main star of dinner however, was the seafood and bacon oko pancake. Its crispy edges, thickness and tenderness in the middle, slight saltiness of the bacon and heaps of seafood makes my mouth water just remembering the taste. Skimping is most definitely not a problem at this restaurant. Staff here are like your typical Asian aunties; friendly but quick and efficient. Every time I visit, the place has been clean, cozy and warm. It’s an ideal spot for a hearty meal.

2022-04-26Daesung Korean Noodle was recommended by a staff from Jang Dok Dae, which is one of our favorite spots for authentic Korean food. She told us their wide noodles and seafood pancake are the best in her opinion.Their options for noodles are in a great variety and we had a bowl of Clam Wide Noodles, Beef Bulgogi Cold Noodles, Oyster Soft Tofu Stew and Seafood Oko Pancake to share with a group of four. The portion was great enough and we even needed to pack leftovers to go with a reasonable price. The food was overall decent, especially the pancake, which was crispy and full of great amount of flavorful ingredients. I also love their wide noodles, between chewy & soft and matched with tasty clam broth. My husband preferred their refreshing and appetizing cold noodles. One thing we were a little disappointed was their sides, not as various as other Korean restaurants. It’s pretty popular and crowded during the peak so we highly recommend to visit earlier.

2022-04-09Great experience, got here around 7:30pm and had to wait a few minutes for a table. We orders a seafood pancake with bacon, a fish cake, beef bulgogi, and pork bulgogi tofu noodle soups and they were all excellent. The pancake was by far one of the best Ive had. Not too much batter and lots of filling. The pancake comes out on a hot plate and it keeps warm and hot for awhile. Their kimchi is made in house and taste really good. We end up buying two small pints of their pickle dikon radish. Ill definitely come back and try other dishes.

2021-09-22Such an affordable place and such good food too! The interior is AMAZING and the service is very good too! We got the soondobu jiggae and the chicken bibimbap, the noodles were so good and fresh! the kimchi was the best part for me! Along with the other exceptional side dishes too!

2022-04-02Bulgogi noodle soup and seafood noodle soup were just plain water soup and very bland. No flavor to the broth what so ever. The soup tasted like plain old tap water that the noodles were cooked in with a very starchy flavor. So basically just a starch water broth.
