Daiso in other cities:
Was able to find SOME home products exclusively here at a minimal cost of $1.99 but Tesolife on Roosevelt St. has better shop experience. Came here for the limited amount of rilakkumas.MISLEADING pricing and MESSY and poor product placements everywhere ( bad management). I was charged $3.5 for a Rilakkuma keyring that was supposed to be no price tag at $1.99 (I didnt mind the extra $1.51 but this would irk many under false advertising). Looks badly randown compared to 2019 grand opening. NO UPKEEP.I hate the fact the plush toys were not bagged for sale especially now due to COVID cautions.Update: one of the $1.99 price is better else where (teso/ebisu)Update 2-10-22 to 4 stars: products are stocked up! Rilakkumas are in. The Caucasian cashier is very polite.
This place was so very crowded the first few months it opened so I waited before coming. Unfortunately, the crowds havent really died down. I went for the first time today and while there wasnt a line to get inside, there was a long line inside to pay. The aisles were also crowded with shoppers. I ended up staying for about ten minutes before the heat and the crowd got to me. I dont know why they wont crank up the air conditioning inside. When you have that many bodies it starts to feel too warm and claustrophobic. Its a shame because I found some cute inexpensive items but ended up leaving them behind. Im going to try coming another time and hope I catch a day when its less crowded.
Lots of kawaii stationaries, bags, beauty products, and many other little things that are sold $1.99 and up. They have little price conversion charts in case you cant figure out the price. This is the only store in NY so there is so many people. The air circulation isnt good but you can buy a mini fan or a cold drink while youre in there, I guess, to cool yourself down.
Daiso is a popular Japanese variety store from Japan; and it has just opened their first store on the East Coast. If you have been to their stores in Japan, you may find this store a bit disappointing because its a small shop that doesnt carry many Daiso snacks. If you are new to this store, you will most likely find spark joy and it doesnt break your bank to stock your home with a variety of low-priced well-designed fun items. Note: They dont take AMEX.
Got charged extra without agreeing to pay the amount. This is not the first diaso I went to, but it’s the first one who charged me extra without an explanation. The rule of the store is, if an item is not marked on it, or on the shelves, then it’s $1.99. The marshmallows I purchased were not marked NOR marked on the shelves; then I found out I got charged for $3 per bag (and we had 4 of them). When I went back to the store and asked the worker, he agreed about the $1.99 rule, and simply said he is sorry that I paid $3 instead; but no adjustment were made to the shelves or the products.I don’t mind paying $3 per bag, but if I would have known earlier, I would make the experience much better.PS. We got a box of Pocky(70g), again, no markings on the products OR the shelves; it was charged $2.50, which I think it’s pricy.
Little bit of everything for just a little bit of $$$. Daiso is a must for me whenever Im in Japan so was happy to hear they were opening up a location nearby. Finally got around to checking them out and was overall happy. Place seems to be a bit crowded but everything was very well stocked despite the mayhem Im sure they had to deal with throughout the day.
Very fun to browse and a good selection of kawaii (cute) products. They have a surprisingly large variety of items, ranging from makeup to kitchenware to holiday decorations to office supplies. Everything had a very reasonable price, and you’re sure to find something you enjoy. Service was good as well, although I do have a slight complaint- I had to wait for almost ten minutes since there was a complication with the scanning machine in the cashier’s line. I’m sure it was not their fault and they tried to get the problem fixed as quickly as possible, though.
I feel like a small daiso just cant do it justice. They do have a little bit of everything in this store. Fun to browse. Its really tight though. I think it does a great job for what it is. Just really wish it was bigger. Also I felt like it was a little hard to find the prices of things but I think I could have possibly just been blind from looking at all the tiny doodads. I just happened to be in the area but I wouldnt be absolutely crazed about visiting here. I hope they can eventually upgrade the space so definitely take a visit and grab some daiso favs if you happen to be nearby. Something to do between eating marathons in flushing for sure.
I went last weekend to see what all the hype was about. A long but fast line. A lovely well lit store super packed. Really great items but youll get lost and over buy. Super cute sometimes unnecessary products. They have mostly $1.99 item with other priced accordingly. Cant wait to go back to buy some tableware. Side note the workers are awesome my toddler lost his scarf and we did not notice until leaving the mall. Ran back praying they might have it. Surprise surprise i was returned the scarf folded neatly having been found by a worker. Thanks guys cant wait to go back this weekend.
Its great to have a Daiso store in the heart of downtown Flushing. I first discovered Daiso when I was in San Francisco. The store was huge like a size of an average Marshalls or TJ Max. Anything you can think of, they will have it at $1.50 each. Everything at $1.50 unless the items are marked in my opinion better than the standard dollar stores.Back to the Flushing store, the floor space is tiny so the selection is so limited. So limited that only 1 small section for the snacks, drinks and food. I am kinda disappointed. You will need a decent size floor space for this type of stores or else its pointless. They will have another Daiso in Rego Park. We will see how that goes. All in all, I like Daiso but not this store. Always walk in and out without buying anything.
The best dollar store ever! So excited when I heard that they were finally coming to the East Coast and in Flushing!!!! The only thing bad about this store is that you are going to want to buy the entire store and it’s going to make you broke, but you’re still going to be amazed that you still spent nothing in comparison to every other store. Favorite section of this store is hands down the kitchen section. Not a thing you can’t find including Christmas decorations. These gold bows were a dollar.
I’ve been waiting for a Daiso to open nearby for close to ten years. I made my way over there this afternoon (Wednesday) and arrived around 3pm. The store was packed. The aisles are narrow and it was difficult to move through them. Even with the store being a bit cramped, the product selection was fairly good and the associates were extremely helpful and courteous.
MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE STORE IN ALL OF NYC!!! I have found out about Daiso 5 years ago when I traveled to Japan. About a year ago, when I found out that this place was coming to the east coast, I was really excited. Daiso has super high quality products for a super low price ($2), and is a great store overall!
Very good service they got there, workers try their best to find items that customers look for. Also i like how they have to do translate too,if they really dont understand they still find ways to help them to get the items. very good store. i would come visit again. :)
The Daiso stores in California have a lot more items in stock. This particular store had very little stationery which is what I came here for. The stationery aisle was a cluttered mess and even after trying to browse through the mess there was very little variety. The store is very tiny, and many people come so it gets very packed and slightly uncomfortable to browse. There was a long line when I checked out, and I waited about 5 minutes to purchase my items. I think this would only be a good place to visit for specific trinkets like the miniature food sets or various Asian snacks you can’t typically get at a dollar store (at least where I live). All in all, I suggest going to your regular dollar store. I came to Daiso primarily for stationery (I know they have popular Japanese character Rilakkuma in the California stores) and I was entirely disappointed. I got one set of stickers and they’re not really the best quality, and I can’t be entirely mad because it was a low price point but I’ve also paid similar price points for better quality sticker sheets.
I often see criticisms of this store but imo they all stem from the fact this store is WILDLY popular. Of course they run out of items, its got some of the best things youll ever spend $2 on. The prices are especially good when you consider the whole store is imported from Japan. I also love that a lot of their housewares are apartment sized.
I was excited to visit this Daiso store but was very disappointed. I was in Japan a few months ago and went to a Daiso store. They had wonderful things at just 108 yen(about $1) for anything. The store in Flushing has some items for $1.99 but you have to be careful as other things can be more. The items were very cheap and mostly made in China although I will say some of the Daiso items in Japan were also made in China. I was looking for some of the cute dishware we had gotten in Japan but found a very poor selection at the Flushing location.
Overall the Daiso in New York is alright. The prices are $.50 more expensive compared to the Daiso I went in California but I honestly don’t really mind about that. The only thing I wish is that they have more items in the shop. The one I went in California had a wide selection of things and it was amazing! But I can’t really blame it for it because the shop wasn’t that big so it probably doesn’t have much place to get more items.
I went last Wednesday June 19, 2019 and really got a blast. I visited a Daiso by Vancouver, Canada last year without knowing what store. Immediately I got in love the quality of the items and the prices. I went all the way from Woodbridge, Virginia to Queens, New York. I spent over $100 but I was very pleased what I found. The only thing I wish the store will be bigger that the size it is now but still find many, many items I can get. Crossing my fingers the people of Daiso bring one in Washington DC area in the near future.
What a disappointment! After seeing so many youtubers talk about Daiso, I was very excited to find that we had a store here in Flushing, Queens. When I went there with my sister there was nothing in the store that appealed to us. The prices were ridiculous! Items that I can get at the dollar store, they were charging $5 to $7. I I purchased about 3 items and when I got home one of them was broken. Unfortunately this is not the Daiso that they have in Los Angeles or Texas. I will never visit the store again I will make sure that my family and friends are aware of it.
It’s just a Japanese version of a $1+ store. Everything sold in there is $1.99 and up. They have an assortment of Japanese goods ranging from household items to edibles. The store is small so they don’t hold a large quantity of items like their American counterpart “Dollar tree” or “Family dollar”.
I’ve been to the Daiso in Los Angeles and they had a wide selection of stuff in good quality. Unfortunately this place in Queens doesn’t cut it. :-( I was pretty disappointed to find the ceramic bowls costed more then what I pay for the one in Los Angeles. There are lots of stuff I can just get at Dollar store. They probably have a high demand of turn over on products, but it just seems there are cart boxes everywhere blocking your way. The place is small and it gets pack. I think it’s best if they stock what is really going to be put away. I don’t think I’ll ever go back. Sorry Daiso in Queens. :-(
Yes, Daiso Flushing is much smaller than Daiso stores in Japan but you can find new beauty products every time. Almost everything is $1.99 and although it can’t beat 100Y ($1.50USD) in Japan, it is NYC we are talking about. One thing they can improve is to restock their items. I have been 3 times since grand opening (early in the mornings when they open and right before they close) and I have noticed that there are always many empty spaces/shelves with no products especially in their beauty section and the household products area against the wall where they usually sell foot care and bath stuff. Please make sure you stock your shelves so customers can maximize their productivity when they shop there!
I havent been to a daiso in a minute, and though the previous one I visited was much larger, I can understand being the first one on the east coast is still a work in progress. Nonetheless, I managed to snag a bunch of items within the first few weeks of its opening. I was really satisfied with what I found and look forward to visiting again! Daiso is my favorite budget store and if youre a kawaii enthusiast or crafty person, you may enjoy it as well. Once its found its footing, and as the crowds decrease, hopefully the concerns others have brought up will be reconciled. Particularly in terms of restocking and shopping experience.Try not to be hard on the workers! Managing hundreds of people at once is a tedious task.
Very disappointed! Tiny store like a 7-Eleven convenience store, it’s jam-packed with people. I have high hope before the visits, however the stocking merchandise OPTIONS ARE SO LIMITED. Also most prices are over $1.99, quality okay but not competitive to ikea nor amazon. It’s not worth for the time if you spend an hour to get here. Maybe Daiso is famous for its low price in Japan, but this Daiso location doesnt carry anything special, there’s plenty other choices we can get in nyc. Even Daiso Japanese snacks are not attractive and they’re overprice compared to Hong Kong supermarkets or other grocery stores in Flushing that’s few blocks away.
Never want to go back againThis was first experience at this plaza mall after Id driven pass many times because I wanna check out the Daiso store. Its not very impressive like Ive heard from youtubers in Cali or even in Japan. Daiso in Japan practically means 100 yen store, like a Dollar tree, everything is 100 yen or $1. I understand that the price is increasing to $1.99 because of the tax purposes or else. However, the store says every is $1.99 unless its marked. As I walked around the store, more than 65% of products in the store cost more than $1.99, i.g. $2.50, $3.50, $4.50, $5.50, $6.50, or even $10.50 and so on. Most of the products that its stated Everything is $1.99 are snacks which I could by from other Asian grocery stores will cost you less than $1.99. The store size is very tight, small, and not much spaces to walk when there are more people. Its smaller than average CVS stores. Some CVS stores are huge, but not thsoe smaller than small CVS. I want to check out other Daiso if they open in other locations. They accept the credit card, but you have to spend over $10 (sounds like very Chinese to me, hehe.) By the way, I bought one cookies cutter for my puppy since Ive to pay for the parking lot $3 for less than 30 mins there.
Japan Design and Quality at $1.99, because most products are Made in China. They do have unique products you may not find elsewhere and definitely didnt think you need it, but still want it, because of the price. Not everything $1.99, products that are not have price tag on them. Waited 2 weeks before the cross die down. Bought close to 20 items, still didnt break $50.
I had a pleasant experience the first time visited the store March last year. A year after, went into the store February this year, the price has increased drastically, its no longer the Japanese version of Dollar Tree. I love Japanese snacks, and I can get most of them for 50 cents or 2 dollars less right downstairs in Skyfood or Teso Life in the 41st Av. or Roosevelt Av. Besides foods, many other items are significantly more expensive, and they are not even authentic Japanese products, mostly made in China. I dont get it if you use cheap Chinese labor to manufacture these low-quality items, why do you even increase the price. They also sell Bazic notebooks/index, which you could find in any 99 cents store in the neighborhood, but for a much lower price.
Whats wrong with people leave negative rating just because the price isnt $1.5 like California or because its a dollar more than what you can find in a 99 cents store. Think about it, you are in NEW YORK, the cost of living is different, just use any website to compare the cost of living in NY vs. LA, any one of them will show that NYs cost of living is higher.BTW, the price is already incredible consider the good qualities, you cannot expect the price to be the same as 99 Cents store around the area while the qualities are different. Either get a binder that will have its plastic rip off in as little as one month, for the price of 99 cents or just a dollar more for something that will last longer.
I lived in Brooklyn so I went all the way up to Flushing just to finally see Daiso. I was so disappointed. It was a very small and crowded place. It was very hot because the AC was off and they only had fans.😒 Some stuffs were $1.99 and others up in price. I got nothing because there were nothing good to buy. I wont go back again!
This Daiso has signs that convert yen to usd, 100 yen = $1.99. Google states different 100 yen = $0.92 usd. Dont get me more wrong they have great stuff but After spending over $100 at checkout, makes u think I couldve walked out with way more bags at $0.92 an item compared to $1.99 SMH!
No different from a dollar store. Lots of merchandise to choose from. Aisle are too narrow. People are bumping into each other. They nEed a bigger store space. After paying, when the cashier hands you your receipt, thats the time theyd inform you no return, no exchange, no refund they make it seems like theyre a shady store with poor return policy.
How much you guys want to bet that this place will shut down within a year? Give or take a couple months... I was expecting so much more from Daiso cause I was expecting some kind of Japanese stationary/product haven but honestly it might be because they just opened, but everything was disorganized cheap looking, and honestly lots of miscanellous stuff. Tbh TesoLife is a better Japanese store then Daiso. The stationary/japanese goods scene is competitive in Flushing, and unless Daiso can actually provide decent aesthetic products at a good price, it wont be able to survive.
Kind of cheating on customers : The eye liners on the shelf said $1.5 but when I checked out I found on the receipt they were $1.99 each and they told me they don’t take return or exchange , I asked if they scanned the price wrong , the guy wearing glasses that worked there said they put a wrong price tag there.
Daisos first east coast. The assortment is medium size, many of Daiso original products. I had heard that all the items were $ 1.99, but when I opened the lid, the goods of about 3 to 8 dollars were pretty well arranged. Especially disappointment for food, nearby Asian supermarket is cheaper, or it is the same price. There is no merit of buying food here. Just a stationery, wrapping goods, decoration supplies, table tennis rackets, reading glasses etc are available at low price. It has not opened yet and it enters in line for about 15 minutes to enter the store. The shelf is rattled, there are places where there are almost no products, and it is now in a chaotic state within one week of opening. I can not shop slowly in the aisle with a cramp. Unless there is something to be bought quickly here, Japanese living resident need not go in a hurry. Cards can only be used from over $ 10, and no replacement refunds are accepted. It is good to go after calming down.
Most products cost $ 1.99 and double in Japan, but as the price of products goes up, the price gap will shrink. So if you dont want too much quality, it might be better to buy from the Net or Dollar Store. However, it is recommended if it is organized and clean, stable quality, often difficult to return to Japan. I think it would be nice to have a few more cash registers if possible.
This is a Japanese company, not Daiso, which is a Japanese company. The internal product is a Daiso product in Japan, and the price is twice the price of Japan (100 yen-> 1.99 dollars). Its true that Japanese products are even better, even though the prices are cheaper than the targets, but its hard to go anymore because of the economic war with Korea.
Many of the products in the store are made in China. Its not a Japanese store, Muji is the authentic Japanese store. The products are expensive too and the quality of the products is poor. Drinks here are expensive, you can buy a bottle of tea for two dollars in the SkyFood store, which is in the mall itself. In this store, its three dollars. If youre going to buy Japanese food (or something Japanese and have it made in Japan), youre going to SkyFood or Teso Life. Or, research Dollar Tree for products made in China.
Located on the second floor of Flushing Mall, the newly opened Japanese daily necessities are full of dazzling, from small school supplies to home haberdashery, all-inclusive, like a stream into the lively Chinese community. The price is cheap and the items are exquisite. Too much attention!

2022-02-24It is my first time visiting Daiso this week, and although the choices werent up to my kawaii meter, I still bought a few items that interested me. What made me give this store 1 star was how robbed I felt when I saw the receipt two days later and realized that I paid $20 for what could have been a $9 purchase. It was a dumb mistake on my part when I paid because I thought the pot mats must be a tad expensive since they are of good quality, and didnt question the cashier during the exchange. As always, check your receipt all the time. For me, Ill never step foot in this store again.

2020-09-23I was like a kid in a candy store shopping here. I especially enjoyed looking at the items in the Kitchen Consumption/Kitchen tool section. This store has a lot more than the Rego Center location. I actually prefer this location better even though it’s a hike to get to. As of the time of this review they currently have two job vacancies.

2019-11-03Ive been so excited to go to Daiso, Flushing! The Mall is only a few blocks from the train station. This store has a great variety of items, from stationary to Food & Drinks! Prices ranging from $2-$6. You should definitely walk through each aisle to really get a good look at all that Daiso has to offer! If your a small business theres some items that Daiso offers that could help! Just a tip, if you visit at different times of the month you could possibly find more of a selection when they restock!! Ill definitely go back! Nice Staff, beautiful mall nice area.

2019-03-13And the Daiso invasion has arrived in the East Coast with the first location opening in Sky View Mall in Flushing... Do you like cheap dollar store items? Do you like stuff from Japan? Your dream has been granted. Daisos marketing strategy is selling cheap stuff from Japan at $1.99 and up. Having been to many locations in Southern California, this store is extremely cramped, but all the sections are present. The grand opening literally caused the second floor of the mall to shut down due to the massive crowd it drew. Even 2 days after the grand opening, there is still a line to get into the store. Hopefully as more branches open up in the East Coast, this particular store will become more accessible. Its pretty incredible that in spite of the massive crowd, the store is still relatively well stocked.

2019-03-21Had high expectations but got totally disappointed. Tiny store, cramped, full of people (that probably because they just open), but it was almost unreal to get through isles or turn around. The line to check out seemed huge, but moved fast.I fell in love with Daiso when I was in LA, they had so many interesting and unique items and huge variety, but this store is nothing close to it.Most of the items are low quality goods that you don’t really need, but probes going to buy because it’s only $1.99 for most things. If you want to buy some groceries just go to Sky Food a couple floors below; it’s also will be cheaper for most items.I hope something will change...and I’ll give Daiso in NY another chance

2021-11-18It’s a small store but it has an assortment of items to purchase. The items available are all pretty cheap and good quality. If you’re looking for a good deal I would really recommend you to go check it out. They have a really nice assortment of Asian snacks in there that is a definite must try. Their customer service is excellent and the store is really clean. Overall a really good store and it makes me look forward to going back every time.

2019-03-24SUPER CROWDED! Theres only two stores in America and its a Japanese dollar store so its to be expected. Youre bound to find something you didnt think youd need, but now want. So many little things to buy its crazy, but not as crazy as the long line I had to wait on. If youre in the area you should stop by just to see why its hyped.
