We rescued a bunny and took him to Dakota for tick removal and check up. Dr. Stanzione wasnt there but the rest of the staffs was still amazing. Emily the nurse was a rabbit enthusiast herself, was very patient in cleaning up the bunny and gave me load of information about how to care for them.Only slight problem was I left them message from the website over the weekend but no one called back on Monday, so I called again, but at least they managed to schedule me in on Monday (also to be fair I only waited for 2 hrs after they opened on monday maybe they would have called if I have waited longer?)This will probably be the place to take care of our bunny from now on!
This has been vet for my 3 furbabies since 2014...Doctors, Vet Techs, staff all so accommodating, compassionate and phenomenal veterinarians. I wish my human doctors were so amazing. Thanks Dr. Gil Stanzione and your team for the incredible care and love bestowed on Carlie this week💓💓💓👨⚕️👩⚕️🩺🥼⚕️🏥💊😷🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾💓💓💓💓💓💓
This is by far the best rabbit vet in the tri state area. Dr. Stanzione is extremely knowledgeable and really cares about his patients. He also has an incredible way of explaining what’s wrong with your rabbit in plain English and does not do unnecessary tests or procedures like some vets do. He truly saved my rabbits life and I will be forever grateful.
Highly recommend for exotic pet treatment! Really appreciate the vet and vet techs here. They were super enthusiastic and obviously genuine about their care for the animals well being, very warm feeling. The doctor gave me options that were not offered to me by the vet I went to prior to Dakota, and at a reasonable price. Struggled with finding a good vet for my rat (considered exotic pet) so this was for sure a giant relief. Will definitely be returning.
Great place! my pup had a great visit and i was eased by the wonderful service at this establishment. the doctor gave me a detailed report and helpful hints over the phone. they practice extensive social distancing and made me feel safe despite covid19. the staff members were polite, sweet, and intelligent. i would recommend
My pup gets treated so well by everyone. Shanell always answers the phone with such a pleasant attitude. Dr. Saura has been treating my puppy since I started going there and she has been phenomenal. The techs are always available to answer any questions I have. When I first got Chewie he was so sick and Dr. Saura was incredible in getting him better. She has truly made this a pleasant experience.
If I had an option NOT to give a star, I’d take that option! Unfortunately, my experience with Dakota Vet was not pleasant, although they seemed to have started off that way. My family and I brought our Yorkie, Bishop to the office with complications of seizure like episodes. They ran tests and came up with nothing but to give all this medication to give him in HOPES that it would work. As a family, we made the tough decision to release our 10 year old pup from his misery. The doctor informed my mother that the visit was “no charge”, as confirmed by the lady at the desk. We asked her how much the private cremation would be, to which TWO people couldn’t find the information in the computer due to some “system update” and to expect a call on Wednesday. Wednesday came, call didn’t. My mother called them, received no answer. So we decided to go with another place. My mother called to inform them, our dog would be picked up by another company. Magically, a return call comes and not only that, information for the cremation. However, since they were too late, they said that before they release Bishop NOW we have to pay for the visit!! An upwards of $798!! They explained that the visit was no charge because we were going to utilize their cremation services, which was NOT told to ANY of us on Monday. We had no choice but to pay it in order for our dog to be released, but this place is crooked!! Charges will cost an arm, leg, and a partial thigh accompanied with a bunch of cockamamie explanations of things they “did”. It’s sad they took advantage of us in our time of grief. Safe to say we won’t be back! Enter at your own risk!
I have two dogs every time we come here me and my bf would spend about $300-$400 per dog. I understand they need there shots and what not but sometimes we don’t have enough , so when we told one of the ladies there she pretty much said we shouldn’t have dogs then. And when the actual doctor came she kept telling him with “there’s a financial problem” or “money is an issue”.She kept giving us an attitude it’s not like she was going to pay for our the bill we simply asked if some things could be taken off that weren’t necessary at the moment. You really do pay an arm and a leg here , take your pets elsewhere .Updated : 8/28/2021Apart from what the huge vaccine bills let me tell you about what was supposed to be a routine spay, with a rabies vaccine & a chance for dog to be in heat .$2,500. For the spay. At the time I didn’t realize the things on the bill & I just wanted my dog to get spayed because we did not want her to get pregnant again.I now work in a veterinary clinic & had some fellow techs & DVMS look over the bill & they said half the things on my bill were not needed for a spay. The cost of the spay is outrageous, the things they added just so they could get more money out of me is outrageous. This place only cares about money, i was charged for a laser therapy treatment for my dog which she never got, I was charged for medications which she also never got.Her Sutures were so bad I felt like they were come apart .No follow up appointment for suture removal or anything .Disgusting.
Horrible customer service took about a week just to get a call back about results. Kept calling for multiple days and just kept hearing that someone is busy and will get back to us.. Turns out that our dog was sick and there was no sense of urgency here to ever let us know! Also doctor we spoke to just kept stuttering they couldnt even fully explain what was wrong and what caused it.. see like they dont know much about what they are talking about. Obviously they dont care much about the dogs they see. Also they give your dog shots and treatments without even asking you or telling you what they are for.. next thing you know you are walking out with a $300- $400 bill. Nobody explains anything to you. Definitely do not recommend this place at all.
Professional, knowledgeable, and compassionate. These are the words Id use to describe all of the staff here. Both Dr. Stanzione and Dr. Marteney are always incredibly gentle with my cats and answer every question my girlfriend and I could think up. I never feel rushed in the examination room and all options are always discussed before making a decision. All the vet techs (assistants) are professional and give top-notch care every time. I completely trust the judgment and the care of the staff. Their receptionists are always very helpful and patient as well and can easily walk you through any issue in terms of scheduling appointments and processing any payment.
After being a pet owner for more than 30yrs ive never felt like i was being given services that wete not needed at the time. I felt as if my bill was being padded, i dont mind paying for things that are needed but not even asking me and telling me what you are doing to my pet... if i was a person that didnt know i would have fallen for it... not happy!
My yorkie has been going to this vet since she was 3 months old. Shes now 13 years old. They are caring and want the best for both you and pet, who are treated like family members. This vet is pricey, but Ive tried other vets in the area, and they are all the same in regards to price. 5 stars because youve cared for my yorkie from puppyhood to seniorhood.
Worst experience ever. We brought our 1 year old lovely bunny in the afternoon and he died 4 hour late. Unprofessional, they dont care about pets. I paid 500 $$$ for nothing. When I called the day after to tell that my bunny died, the doctor was so busy that he will call later. He never called me back. Dont go to this creepy place please.
My mother and I took her elder Pom here to be put down and they treated us with compassion and were respectful of our decision. They answered all of our questions and gave us adequate time before and after the procedure to say our goodbyes. Overall nice clinic & staff.
Worst place ever. I took my 2 month old puppy here for his first check up. They put things on my dog without even telling me. After I was about to leave (since I though my first visit was for free) I stand there for about 10 minutes waiting for the Doctor whom told me to wait for him. The doctor came back and I said thank you and walked out. Ten minutes later I received this phone call of a really rude lady telling that I walked out without paying them, which I was unaware! I told her I stud there for 10 min and no one told me I had to pay. I could not go back cus I was on my way home in queens. she call back a couple of days later and kept saying that I WALKED OUT ON THEM! Was planing on taking my dog back and pay, but she was so rude and nasty that I just decided pay over the phone. DONT GO HERE, THEY ARE SUPER RUDE!
We took our Nala here because she was vomiting for days. After taking an x-ray we discover that she had an intestinal blockage. After much consideration we opted for our 6 year dog to have the $4000 surgery to remove the blockage. We were told that because Nala was a healthy dog she should have no problem recovering from the procedure. She had the surgery and we took hter home. She was watched without ever being alone and less than 24 hours after the surgery she stopped breathing. We rushed be to an animal hospital but they were unable to resuscitate her. At 6 years old after a fairly routine surgery, Nala died. Our family is devastated. Please be careful taking your pets here.
I wish there was a 0 star option! This place is so awful and unprofessional! I got a puppy and the place I bought her from told me to take her to Dakota for her free last set of shots because they were included in the buying price - took her there had to pay for all of the shots. Dakota said they were aware that NY Breeders tells everyone the shots are free but they havent done anything about it? Hmm seems like a scam to get new customers to me. I decided to continue taking her there regardless since it was so close to my home and started taking my 2 other pets there as well. 3 pets later, they do not care about my pets. They do not care about their health either. When I call I get the run around that every one is busy and that someone will call back - no one ever does! When you call concerned the young immature girls at the desk laugh at you, or pretend they are new and dont know how to do anything - seems like they have a high employee turn rate as well, I wonder why. They always try to sell you something during apts. I purchased a years worth of Revolution which I was told was prescription strength flea and tick preventative but after 3 months of using it by dog had 4 large engorged ticks on her and DAKOTA did not care! She was bringing them in our home and I have Chronic Lyme Disease and explained my concerns to DAKOTA and the girls did not care! Finally after the 4th tick I had enough and demanded an answer and spoke with Susan who told me to bring it back for a refund and the Dr would call me about an injectable option. Never received the refund and the Dr never called or called me back regarding the numerous voicemails I left at the office. Now I am out almost $300 for the cost of the revolution. This place is literally evil and disgusting. At this point, Im so disgusted with their immature behaviors that I have decided to forget the refund and get a new vet as now they are saying I can only get a partial credit to go back there for another service and seeing as how I actually LOVE my pets, I will do them a favor and NEVER take them there again! DAKOTA Vet is the Wal-Mart of vets, which might even still be a compliment for them!
I brought my 2 miniature white Schnauzers in to the vet that was supposed to be include with the $5,000.00, I spent on rescuing these 4 month old puppies from the NY Breeders. They tell you the price after you fall in love with them after putting them in a room with then, and letting you get attatched to them before they give you the price. They insisted that the high price of the puppies included a FULL veterinary visit and ALL shots and stool sample, or anything else that wasnt done by the NY Breeders.THEY LIED. It cost up $980.00 for the FREE visit to the veterinarian that was used exclusively with them. They arent getting away with this, I am the one who rescued the 13 year old miniature Schnauzer from the Valhalla Vet, whos owner tied her up to their post outside in the pouring rain.I spent over $3,000.00 on this dog, and she ended up being 13 years old and I lost her 10 months I rescued her, after falling in love with her.NY BREEDERS in White Plains on Tarrytown road lies to get you to spend thousands of dollars on their puppies whom after doing weeks of research, uses the worst puppy mills in the U.S. by the name of one of the most 100 WORST PUPPY MILLS IN THE US!They think they got away with it, they are wrong. I believe in my heart I save the 2 white miniature Schnauzers since they were 4 months old and still in the store.I felt horrible about spending this money, but I am handycapped, and all the SPCAs in my area had NO small dogs to rescue, never mind a Schnauzer.
If you’re searching for a veterinary center that treats you and your pets like they are part of their family, you should go to Dakota Veterinary Center. They are the most knowledgeable, caring and empathetic staff of doctors, vet techs, and assistants I have ever entrusted my pets to.

2022-01-21Dakota Vet has been our go to for Vet care since Sasha was a puppy. Great experience in terms of quality care. However, they are extremely costly; hence the one star deduction. We do not take her there for vaccines anymore due to their high cost, but have done so for teeth cleaning and regular check ups. Simply put, you get what you pay for.

2022-04-25Rip off Artist!! Beware!! Took my dog of 13 years to Dakota vet because of a lump on her breast. Was told that with x ray and blood work that cost$1700 would tell me if my dog Tootsie had cancer. I paid the $1700 and the report was inconclusive. I was told by the vet that based on the reports my dog had cancer. However the report did not support the information provided. I was told by another vet that based upon the blood work performed my dog does not have cancerous cells. Dakota wanted to do surgery on Tootsie for another $6000 and chemo treatment after for another couple thousand dollars. I would not recommend this place.

2021-06-21Dakota has been our go-to vet for our 3 bunnies since we found out about them through NY Rabbit Rescue & Rehab in 2016. Most recently, Dr. Gil was able to surgically remove a tumor from a very fragile area of our bunnys eye. Our bunny has recovered wonderfully! Dr. Gil and his vet tech team, especially Emily, are highly experienced and knowledgeable when it comes to rabbit health, surgery, and care. We do not trust anyone else with our rabbits!

2021-11-17I didn’t believe the one stars at first but it really was true. If you go for a visit you have to at least prepare $200-300. They over charge for the shots that my 3 month old puppy has to have. The last time we went they told us the last basic shots for puppies she had to have was next 3 weeks. But when we went back, and got the shots, they told us she had to get more shots and that those were just the first few of the basics and she had to get more shots. Each time to get shots were about $200-300. When she got her medicine, we clearly asked when she had to have them, before or after meals. The vet told us anytime just two times a day. But when I called back, they told me again it was suppose to be 12 hours apart and that the “anytime” they said were suppose to be 12 hours apart, but the vet never specifically said it. With both incidents, the amount of shots and the medicine, two different people said different things. So if you are going there make sure to let them be specific about the medications and pay attention to the billing amount!

2021-11-29We took our house rabbits here for a very long time. Medically and surgically great care, but care deteriorates as your pet ages. Do not, under any circumstance, medically board your pet with this practice. Our elderly rabbit passed away shortly after being medically boarded at Dakota. She was checked out severely dehydrated, it became clear she did not receive any veterinary care, nor even basic care, during her 10 day stay. The communication after this event was terrible, we waited 2 days to see Gil Stanzione. The whole time the practice insisted she was checked out in fine condition. Extremely disappointed, not to mention the grief our family is currently suffering, and will never use this practice again. We are making a formal complaint.

2021-09-14I normally do not like to write bad reviews about a location unless I feel the place is tricking people. This place is very expensive. They also overcharge you and ensure to double check your bill before paying as they may charge you for something your pet did not get. This happened to me with my puppy. They said they did a fecal sample and I was there the hole visit and they did not and they charged me for it. If you come here be prepared to pay at least $300-400 per visit (this is just a regular visit. Forget it if your pet is sick) if you have a puppy. I wouldn’t recommend this place, unless you have extra money to spare.

2021-08-28Can’t say enough about this amazing practice! Dr GilAnd his team have been taking care of our dogs for over 20 years. From the “routine” to the emergency they are always kind, informative and expertly skilled! Webrought our 11 year old lab in for a routine allergy shot and Dr Gil also looked in her ears and eyes and noticed something wrong with the pressure in one eye. Knowing that we were leaving for a vacation he was able to get us into see an ophthalmic specialist the same day ( A Friday in the summer). Turns out our dog had an ulcer on her cornea which if left untreated would have been a terrible outcome. You might have to wait on hold a little as the office is busy - but the attention and care you get from everyone is worth the wait. We love Dakota ( and Dr Gil!)

2021-06-22I have taken my guinea pigs there a few times and got a great service every time. The guinea pigs were properly diagnosed, given a supply of medication, set on their way and got better every time. The animal hospital handled the Covid situation very well. Will definitely be back.

2022-02-25WARNING WARNING!! Dishonest Practice. One of there vets is currently being reported for malpractice with AVMA. Do NOT trust this practice with your animals.
