These are the best Buffalo Wings in the city. Having lived in Buffalo for several years, these wings are legit - super meaty and juicy with a perfectly tangy and spicy Buffalo sauce.. and they also do great specials such as the garlic parmesan (Sept 18). They also have TVs and seating for gamedays, which is really nice. This place is an absolute must for any chicken wing lover in nyc, period.
This place easily tops all of the chain wing joints. They provide huge wings that are topped with really good sauce. I got 20 boneless hot wings and I was caught off guard by how much food 20 wings is. I would definitely recommend 10 wings because the wings are way bigger than average wings. Also, the fries are really tasty, and they go well with the ranch dressing. Water is free so that’s a definite plus. The service was actually relatively quick, which sets this place apart from most other wing joints.
Dan and John know what the people want, and they provide it in ample quantities and varieties: beer on tap with great prices on pitchers, and just about every worthwhile permutation of wing you can think of. For the adventurous they also offer two very shareable wing towers that come with plenty of fries to boot. If you have 3+ people in your group go for the larger NYC Tower and settle in for a feast. Hell even if its just you and a buddy, go nuts and take the rest home for later.
Wings came out cold. Staff didnt wear their masks. Pitcher of beer had so much head on it that we only got 3 beers. They tried to charge us double for that pitcher since the keg of the beer we ordered had issues so we switched to an equally priced beer upon their prompting.
Ordered and paid extra for 10 drums only and 10 flats only extra saucy for the Superbowl on the day before the Superbowl from the 439 3rd Ave location, got home NO SAUCE at all and two orders of just 10 pieces, dont understand how you mess up an order that bad except for you dont care about what you were doing, yet on the receipt stapled to the bag was the exact way I ordered it...my advice if you are going to spend these prices at their establishment make sure you check your order...
I rarely leave reviews on places but I had to take the time to write a review for them I LOVE their wings and fries . Dan and Johns Wings are phenomenally cooked perfectly , perfect sauces , beautiful service and a nice layout to sit . Their restroom is clean literally no complaints they get it right Everytime ! Definitely becoming a returning and regular customer can’t wait to try your other sauces !
This used to be hands down the best wing spot in NYC. In the last year or two they’ve gone downhill, maybe correlating with their expansion at this location. It’s extremely expensive and they stopped letting you split spices (even on orders of 30 wings, are you kidding me). The service in person is awful, extremely slow. Still 3 stars because the quality of the food has stayed high.
This place is hands down one of the best wing spots in NYC. I come here EVERY WEEKEND. The wings are on point, the flavors are always done to perfection, with the right amount of sauce. My favorites flavors are the ( sweet chili, smoky bourbon, and bbq sweet). The flavors are always consistent so you know what to expect every time you go. The wait time is never to long and your food is ALWAYS FRESH. Let’s not forget about the blue cheese. I’m an expert on blue cheese and I must say their blue cheese is just amazing and out of this world. The chunks of blue cheese are heavenly and always tastes fresh. Service at Dan & Johns is always on point, and very respectable with updates on your food. Keep up the great service and amazing wings.
Very disappointed!!! I took a friend there to try the wings because they love wings. UGH! The wings were dry and tough. Wasted time and money. Definitely can’t compare to the wings in up in Buffalo. I read were thats where their inspiration came from. Its not even close.
So I tried Dan and Johns for the first time tonight. Ordered wings and a bunch of sides to go online. Pickup was ready when I got there and perfectly packed with written descriptions on each container.. Asked for the wings to have the sauce on side per special instructions and they got it all right. Perfectly cooked wings, crispy and tasty and all the sides were perfect. Cant wait to go back, it was so easy and fast.
Went there to have my last meal of the year with my fellow partner. The wings are Fin superb. BBQ Spicy is my favorite if you wanna turn the heat up try Hot or Inferno. I love that their wings are very good in size. I recommend it to all you wing heads! Yes, they sell beer and wine (small list, but they do)
I havent had wings this good in years. I got the hot sauce. They have sauce hotter and less hot. Also several other flavors. Whatever. It was 10:40 and they closed at midnight and I was in the area and wanted some damn buffalo wings. Also I had a beer. Thats worth another 10 points easy. Go here an support the local business. Tasty as hell.
If you’re in New York and want chicken wings, this is a must. Wings are perfectly sized and have the right balance of sauce and crunch required. Staff are quick and cool. One thing to note, the spice level are not has hot as they are made out to be but the “inferno” is fairly hot. Great place, great wings!
So I had came here at night with six other friends, its a pretty big party. I step away for a bit and order later than they do by about 7 minutes. Of course I figure my food should arrive later. Next thing you know 10 minutes go by, 20, 30. Everyone else had their food and I was still waiting on it. Mind you its getting cold and at this point all my friends are ready to leave. We stopped the waiters to ask where my food was about 3 times till we finally got it. We also got attitude the more we asked. I ended up taking my food to go since there was no point. The food is definitely decent, the service not so much.
The best wings I’ve had in New York. We also came here for their Super Bowl party which was expertly pulled off. It was sold out but it wasn’t ridiculously busy, about perfect. Amazing wings, games, great deals on drinks. The Garlic Parmesan wings in particular are superb.
Ive eaten wings here on three occasions. All three times I had the boneless wings with medium buffalo sauce. The first time I had them I was blown away. Delicious. The second time was still good, though the buffalo sauce had a totally different taste to it. Still tasted like buffalo sauce, but way different than the first time I tried. And now, tonight, I had the boneless wings again and they were soggy mush. Ideally, wings should be fried to a crisp and then tossed in a sauce of choice. However, it appears Dan and Johns wings are not fried thoroughly, and the breading turns to soggy mush once sauce is applied. Dan, John, whoever is listening. You do a great job. However, these wings gotta be cooked longer 🤷🏻♂️. I hope to give you guys one more shot before I yet again begin the desperate search for my buffalo wing staple in NYC.
Seriously good wings. I recommend 10 wings, get half with one flavor (like spicy barbecue), and half flavor-of-the-month, with ranch. Some of my friends get the combo, but I think 10 wings is just right. Super cool staff. When the weather’s nice the storefront is all open.Really. Seriously good wings.
The wings are decent. Some were a bit overcooked but I think thats because I ordered a takeout and ate them 20 minutes after I got the order. They package the to-go bag pretty well and I appreciated that.I dont think there is anything special about this place. Its not bad, but its not that good either. These are not the big fatty kind of wings; these are small wings. Also, my order took 18 minutes to come out. For the quality of the wings, I think thats way too long for a takeout order. There werent that many people in the restaurant, either. The guy who took my order was fine but not particularly friendly. The pricing is pretty reasonable, though. So if youre just craving for wings but dont need them to be amazing, this place will do.
Dan and Johns has the BEST wings around, no contest. Each individual wing in an order is hand-picked to have a very satisfying amount of meat, they are cooked to juicy perfection, and the sauces are amazing. I particularly recommend Smoky Bourbon, Sweet BBQ, Teriyaki, Sweet Chili, and Garlic Parmesan.
The best chicken wings were better. I’ve been a fan of D&J wings for 2 or more years, there are crispy outside, tender inside, but when I stop by the restaurant in The East Village a couple of days ago, I didn’t get wings of the same standard I had previously, these are were not well fried outside, but still tender inside. Hopefully next time I can enjoy it the good old wings again.
I love that it is a small, and cozy place. I didnt know whether to get medium, or hot, and the girl in the front, and one of the cooks helped me to decide. They were very sweet, friendly, and made sure that I received the best service. They have a few T.Vs. I was able to see Star Wars, a boxing match, and The US Open . The music wasnt too loud, and I was able to have a conversation with my friend. The wings were so delicious. They have plenty of napkins, because it will get messy with the sauce, but that is the fun part. I will definitely be going back.
Ordered pickup from the new location on 3rd ave. A welcomed addition to Murray Hill. The traditional wings were perfectly seasoned. The blue cheese dip actually had chunks of blue cheese.Friendly staff when I picked up. Wings were waiting. for meTheir app is easy to use and provides pickup time.Nice to see a new business with tremendous potential.
Should you be traveling here specifically to order wings, there is much to be desired. The service was friendly, they serve alcohol, and the space had a cozy (tight) and modern feel. I ordered 20wings and tried 4 (of their 8) variations of 3 core flavors. The sauce & texture of coating left much to be desired. The sauces lacked flavor and were all too similar. The quality of the chicken itself was seemingly of high quality as it did not possess that cheap rubbery processed feel. The manner in which they prepare the chicken makes the wings soggy.I also ordered a side of tots which were over cooked and almost burnt to a golden crisp. I would’ve preferred that the wings be prepared that way instead of the tots & vice versa.Overall, I ended up spending 30 bucks on 20wings w/ 2 handfuls of tots and still left the restaurant with a Saturday night sad face and hungry (bc none of us desired to finish the wings).

2022-01-29Honestly had higher expectations for this place but for two dollars a wing the bar wasnt met. though service from front of the house is flawless and theyre really nice, the bar vibe and current sports news being posted in the bathroom is great, the wings just taste very standard like you could get the same quality from a pizza spot. the fries are really hood and stay crispy, love homemade fries. and genese is a favorite beer. just wish the wings were better somehow.

2022-02-25These are the best wings Ive ever tried in NYC. I love them. All their sauce flavors are magnificent. Every time I want wings I go there, from Brooklyn to 1st Ave. I dont want to go anywhere else. Theres one thing that could be better there, they used to give you the option to get more than 1 flavor in your order but now it is only 1. But still .. BEST WINGS IN NYC!!

2022-03-18Overrated. Their sauces are pretty good but their wings are expensive and they dont cook to order. I like crispy wings and when I ordered delivery and put in a note to make them well done (extra crispy). They totally ignored it and I got some gross soggy wings. I would probably say this is a 2 star place but they get a star off for not even trying to get me what I requested. Its hard to get good wings in NYC for some reason but dont let their marketing/pricing fool you, there is nothing premium about these wings. I have gotten better wings from Chinese takeout places.

2022-05-25Edited as of Spring 2022: I’ve been a huge fan of this place ever since I discovered it in 2018. The wings and fries were outstanding, the service was great, and although a bit pricey, it was worth every dollar. They were the best wings in the city.I recently visited them after they revamped the EV location and took out the bar. I was slightly disappointed by the lack of bar seating, but the big disappointment was in the wings. It looks like they revamped the wing and sauce formulas and not in a good way. The wings are now thoroughly mediocre but the prices remained the same. It could have been a dud batch, but the fries were unusually soggy which led me to believe the entire kitchen operation got switched up. I used to go here once a month but I won’t be going back until I hear that they have undone whatever changes they made to the food.

2021-08-06Dan and John’s is great and you should go there, but they’re a little weird (?) about sauces now. We ordered atomic and hot (boneless) wings with fries and beer. The guy taking the order didn’t ask if we wanted any sauce. Then a girl brought out the order with no ranch or blue cheese. We asked for it then and she acted like it was our fault for not mentioning it ourselves—“you didn’t tell us you wanted any.”Obviously it wasn’t either of their faults either, but what kind of policy is that? Every other time I’ve ordered wings—even bars, pizza places, BWW, etc—has asked if I wanted those. Dan and John’s asked every time I went pre-COVID. It’s like ordering a cheeseburger and getting dry meat and cheese on a bun because you didn’t ask for anything else. But that doesn’t detract from the wings which are the best I’ve had in the city

2022-04-17Being as pricey as they are I expected to get some quality food. Not in the least bit. Wings came out room temperature, but what upset me the most was the mozzarella sticks and beer! Mozzarella sticks came out cold and had absolutely no cheese stretch to it at all! And beer was flatter than a pancake smh. This isn’t the same Dan&Johns I remember back when they were in smorgasburg. If they’re going to be charging as much as they do, you would expect to get quality food. Wish them all the best tho.

2020-08-19Amazing! Followed a recommendation from a coworker and had to check it out. Ordered the Sweet Chilli and Lemon Pepper. High quality chicken and amazing flavor. I barely wanted to touch the ranch and blue cheese because they had such a great flavor. Will absolutely be returning!

2018-07-23Great wings. Simple spot. Wings are on par with Buffalo wild wings but sauces are better! Good spot for a quick craving quench!Update: Congrats on the new expansion! Wings are still great! I ordered the lemon pepper wet wings finally trying them. They were ok. Nothing to crazy. They have to figure out a way to thicken the sauce. Buffalo is still my go to at Dan and Johns. Also, the tots were nice and crispy but they were very empty and porous on the inside. Could be better. Still a great wing shop.
