Very rude personnel and terrible customer service. They require you to put down $50 deposit and fail to inform you of the cancellation policy when you schedule the appointment and that youll lose the deposit if you cancel within 24 hours. I had to cancel on short notice due to illness and had to go emergency room instead of the hair salon and they still refused to refund the money and informed me about the cancellation policy post factum. Nor did the inform me that they have a web site where I could read about the policy, at the time I made the appointment.
I called to make an appointment they told me come the next morning. Before I went in, the next morning I called to confirm and they told me they were fully booked. Awful service — didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience.
Just perfect, always.

2017-08-26I cannot say enough great things about this salon!!! I should have written this review a long time ago, as I have been a client for a couple of years now and have seen pretty much every stylist they have on staff, as well as Dan. I have never, ever, ever been anything less than thrilled with my hair after an appointment at this salon. A special mention for my girl Celeste who is brilliant at color. I honestly trust booking color or cut with anyone here, because Dan is AMAZING..... and he has set a very high bar for hiring new team members. But today was the first time that I ever forgot that I had an appointment! I realized it an hour past the appointment time..... raced there as fast as I could just to be able to apologize in person.... and not only did Dan and Serena (who I was scheduled with) welcome me with smiles and laughter and told me not to worry.... they both insisted that I stay to get my haircut once Serena was done with her current client. She stayed late on a Friday and didnt charge a cent extra or make me feel the slightest bit guilty about my mistake. So not only is everyone here incredibly talented, but they are exceptionally nice and friendly. Everyone here is someone that I would actually love to be friends with outside of the salon. I have been in New York for 20 years..... have been through a million salons..... and will never ever go anywhere other than Danka Panka.

2020-03-07Dan is amazing!! I got the best haircut ever. Not only that but Dan explains the whole process and gives you tips on how to style your hair. I cant believe I waited so long to chop off my long hair and get this new stunning look! Im referring everyone to him and definately coming back! I cant thank you enough. I never thought Id love this short look so much.

2020-02-16I had just moved to New York from France when I started going to Dan to get my hair done. At the time, I was looking for a good cut with a bit of an edge. I was not disappointed. I have now been a faithful customer for over three years. Dan is not only a very talented hairdresser, he is conscientious, punctual and an all-round lovely person.

2018-09-01Dan is by far the best hair dresser I have ever had. Not only does he have amazing haircutting skills, he also gives you great advise on what would work well with your face and type of hair. In addition, his hairstyler Celeste is very gifted with colors. I am so happy I have discovered Danka Panka a couple of years ago because I take pilates classes around the corner. Getting your cut and color can ad up in cost but it is worth every penny.

2017-03-10Ive been to Danka Panka twice now. Dan is absolutely wonderful! Ive been searching for a hairdresser in NYC for years...one who Im happy to visit again and again. He took so much time with me, meticulously cutting, explaining how to get what I wanted out of my hair, and I ended up with a cut I love - one thats low maintenance and looks fab ;). Hes also just a fun person to chat with and I enjoyed the whole experience. Finally found my spot!!

2015-12-31I have a very picky friend who insisted that I get my hair cut here by Dan. She wont go anywhere else and basically bought me a haircut last christmas. At first I thought, how could he possibly be any different from any master stylist Ive had? But by now Ive my hair cut three times so far (by Dan), and I have to say, that man is so talented. Every time I leave a salon with a cut, it looks great the first day, very weird the next 2 weeks and terrible after a month. I thought it was just my hair and that I needed constant trimmings. Dans cut looks great the day of, amazing days after, and still incredible even 2 months after. I dont feel like I need to have a cut every month with him but I would gladly if I didnt live in another state. So, I will fly to see my best friend and family, and get my haircut at Danka.

2017-07-31So I used to live across the street from this salon, which was great because not only was it the best cut and color I had ever received, but it was a few steps away from home.Fast-forward to a year living all the way across the ocean among primarily straight-haired people, and I just made an appointment to go back to danka panka when Im visiting home. I trust Dan with my crazy curls/waves...hes an artist, and a lovely person to boot, and makes you feel confident about your hair and how good it can look. The cuts look great when you leave the salon, but the greater test is that they last and look great after the next hairwash at home.

2016-08-07Amazing salon. Warm, wonderful staff and incredibly talented at cuts and color. I have never been disappointed and have sent several friends here whove been happy! Jocelyn is my stylist and she is so talented. Listens to what I want and always makes it better!

2014-01-12Fantastic. Feels like and is a neighborhood salon but has the talent and style of one of the big Manhattan salons. Dan is great stylist and owner. I fly back to have Jocelyn masterfully cut and highlight my hair (moved to chicago). And it is very fairly priced.

2016-12-06TOBY B, I dont even know who the hell you are.First of all replying to my review is very suspicious instead of write your own review. Second, you only mention B as your last name. This is not serious. So, Im pretty sure that behind Toby B the person who is writing the review is the owner or employee of the store.I insist with my review because what I wrote was my experience with this store and what I wrote is real as you can see in other review (50 dollars as a deposit (??) Again, this store is a simple hair salon in Carroll Gardens and not a hair salon in the Mandarin Hotel.People see my review below!Be careful people with this hair salon!Today was my first time calling this salon and very bad impression and also rude customer service.I called and asked them about how much they charge for a highlights (half head). The answered was it depends of the stylist I choose. Surprised for the answer I asked for more explanation. The answer was if you chose for Celest (or something like that) the price is $120, for xx the price is $130, for xx the price is $140. It depends of the experience according to the lady who answered the phone (Jocelyn). So, if you choose for the new lady the price is $120.That was not the worst part.The worst of this situation is that if you want to make an appointment you have to put down $50 dollars as a deposit. WHAT?? For a simple store that I dont know who they are and even more for the stylist that I dont know if she will be a great job with my hair I have to give them my credit card and $50 dollars as a deposit??Who they think they are?? Cmon Its a simple hair salon in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn not a hair salon in the Mandarin Oriental Hotel or a in the Upper East Side.So, again be careful with this store. First time I hear this in New York. Less than 1 star.
