They were very accommodating and responsive to our online inquiry which I really appreciated, sadly the seated us outside although we asked to sit inside so it was a lil cold (despite the heaters) and I don’t think you get the great experience that you get when you sit inside . Food was good. Steak wasn’t the best (but not bad) . Will definitely go back .
The drink was very nice and delicious! I highly recommend you to come here and grab a drink with friends in summer. The food was just fine. The staff there were busy but are always friendly and polite. We didn’t make reservations so had a hard time to have a walk in seat. If you plan to go, make reservations at least 2 weeks ahead please. Because they are really good!
The pasta dishes were average as were the cocktails. The negronis were great but not spectacular in my opinion to warrant hype or maybe there is only so much you can do with negronis. The place was very cramped. We were seated right behind the bar and I spent the whole meal worried that someone getting up from their bar stool would tip over the table. We also had to stand to allow the waiter serve the table next to us. The dishes were small plates and overpriced. Might be better as a bar experience for drinks
Dante is that NYC Village experience through and through. They have some great cocktails some with their own twist. The place can get really crowded during the dining hour. The Italian dishes are good. I enjoy the tagliatelle with a ragú and a hint of lemon. It went down well.
Hands down the best restaurant we tried in our 7 days in NYC, and the best Italian food we’ve had since I don’t know when. Margarita and old-fashioned were delicious. We started with the focaccia which was super tasty—ricotta with olives, peppers and anchovy were the perfect blend of savory, creamy and umami. Surprisingly kid friendly, but their website says that they are! My two younger kiddos (grade school age) had red sauce penne with parm and basil. Simple but really, really good. My teen, spouse and I shared the filet with compound butter, flatbread Bianco, and tagliatelle al limone (with pistachio pesto and stracciatella). Holy cow! The steak was the table favorite! But the tagliatelle was so bright and delightful and the perfect foil for the richness of the porcini compound butter and Swiss chard. We thought about getting wine, but the cocktails were so good, that we had a second margarita and a Negroni Bianco instead. Service was impeccable. They surprised our 8 yo with birthday tiramisu—candle and song included! Sigh. Perfect meal. We will be back!
Edited to reflect the latest experience at December 2021.Despite the previous bad experience while arriving at afternoon with rude staff, this time I went at night and luckily get a seat outdoors!(the heater was broken though, probably the reason we got a seat 😅)The Caffe Dante coffee is really good. The strong Sherry flavor with creamy foam is really a great experience. A warm cocktail is a cold night was a savior! The chocolate Negroni is also pretty decent! Its biter level is just in place as a touch of strong gin flavor. A definite must try here would be Negroni for sure! The staff this time was also pretty friendly and welcoming, they introduced every cocktail in details and chat with us as well.A wonderful experience this time, and hopefully would keep meeting the same crew every night 😃—————————————————-Previous experience which was rather unpleasant below:The review is regarding the attitude of the frontdesk staff only.I would say the staff wasn’t quite friendly while I was just asking if there are seats for walk-ins (for
I had a large group dinner here and it was absolutely amazing. I coordinated with Michelle who was so helpful every step of the way to create the best experience for our group. The staff at the restaurant were very gracious and attentive. They were very accommodating with the menu and generous with the portions, bringing more food and substitutions when requested. The food, drinks, and ambiance were wonderful. Would absolutely recommend!
Great place for a casual weekend brunch! They did not disappoint with their cocktails and food. We got the Negroni Bianco (great for a summer afternoon in the city) along with a Salty Dog. The daily pasta with ragu sauce was delicious and hits the right spot for a hearty dish, while the almond milk pancakes were great to add some fluffy sweetness to the meal. Our waiter was very helpful in providing recommendations and describing the dishes when we had questions, and was also super attentive. Highly recommend giving this historic spot a visit.
The service, ambiance, and selection of drinks at Dante are fantastic. It can be challenging to get in for drinks, as they only take reservations for dinner, but if you approach the host with polite persistence around 5pm you will likely be able to get a spot for a few cocktails. The ambiance is wonderful both inside and out, with lovely views of a quieter patch of the West Village. The staff are incredibly attentive, frequently stopping to refill water cups and take away empty dishes. The drink selection is, of course, what they are known for and it certainly lives up to the hype. I cannot speak to the food, but the cocktails did not disappoint.
Best bar in the world for a reason, but also best bar in NY. Drinks, food, service and atmosphere are all top tier and yet somehow this place has the cosiness of a friends living room(albeit maybe a really chic rich friend). Constantly updated drinks menu always feels fresh and relevant, and is always on point! 10/10 would recommend.Pro tip: afternoons are less busy. Things get pretty packed out in the evenings.
Rated bar #14 globally by Top 500 bars and I can see why. This bar had very delicious and refreshing cocktails. The place had a very cute set up both indoor and outdoor. I will say outdoor is not ideal for first dates, you are very close to the person next to you despite the divider between tables. The waiter knew his stuff and directed me to exactly what I was looking for in a drink! The spring menu is a must try, clever clover club was my fav.
Dante !! The best bar in the world in 2019 ?? Of course Dante deserves that recognition.Yesterday afternoon I had the opportunity to be at Dante and I was impressed with the customer service because since I arrived at the door I was well received by the host.I asked the waiter to impress me with my order of drinks and food and let me tell you that I left satisfied and happy because everything was spectacular.Dante NYC ... Highly recommend.
Had a great time here! My coworkers and I stopped in for some last minute drinks/dessert, and had a the best experience (you have to try the espresso martinis & the tiramisu). The manager, Andrew, helped us get seated after a short wait and made us feel comfortable from the second we arrived, until we left hours later. Ask for him when you go, he’s the best! Love the vibe and definitely coming back next time I’m in NYC.
Came here on a Saturday for Brunch. Didnt have the best experience. Our server forgot to put our food through to the kitchen (literally everyone around us was getting their food and then he asked us what we ordered again) without an apology or acknowledgement... Just not the service standard youd expect from a place like this or the price and the food wasnt worth the wait. Cocktails are cute though.
Food is great, drinks are very expensive ($18 for Old Fashioned). Outdoor seating has only mediocre service and overall wait time for food and drinks is noticeably longer compared to other restaurants of this class. If you go here make sure to grab a seat inside. The best spots are at the bar. There you will have better service.
Really cute place in the heart of Soho - the staff and team is super nice, and so are their signature cocktails and food. Dante has another location in the west village - also great but this one is the cozier one in my opinion. Great place to celebrate birthdays, had a fantastic experience for mine. Definitely recommend!
Michelle and the staff at Dante (McDougal St) were able to host me and 13 other guests days out of my partners surprise birthday. Michelle coordinated everything, super responsive, and the host at the door completely understood the pressure I hindering setting up so many people without my partner knowing. He got all my guests seated early, accommodated with early drinks before we arrived - he even played a small role in the surprise which was a nice touch! Food was amazing, atmosphere incredible, the dining area felt like a night with the family at mum house. I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening. All guests messaged me the next day and said it was one of the best evenings out they have had in New York in a long time. That couldn’t have been achieved without the help of Michelle and the staff at Dante. Thank you so much! You absolutely nailed it! 6 stars if could!
Had a great time- surprised at how cheap the cocktails are considering they are world renowned. The atmosphere is wonderful, lots of laughter and bustling with happenings. Its a shame their other location in the west village pales in comparison. They should reconsider whats going on over there.
I was recommended by a friend, so booked a reservation and visited today for lunch. Food overall was good, pasta didn’t amaze me but I enjoyed the flatbread. Cocktail was nice as well. The lady who served me was also super friendly.I had a positive impression until I saw a rat rushing underneath the table and even went by my feet... It was just unacceptable to see a rat in a restaurant, no matter how good the food is. At that point I knew I would never visit this place again.
My husband and I decided to make a reservation for a Saturday afternoon, after taking a look at their menu and their reviews. However, our experience left something to be desired. We were only able to order off of the brunch menu, which was disappointing as it after 3 pm. I had the smoked salmon toast, which was good, but my husband’s brioche egg sandwich was a complete disappointment. The egg was chalky and definitely over cooked. Cocktails looked appealing on the menu, but honestly we have had much better. Not terrible, but definitely not worth the hype. Wish someone had noticed that my husband only took one bite of his sandwich, but nothing was mentioned when picking up the plates. Overall, not bad, not great.
We obviously came here after all the hype surrounding the 2nd (1st?) best bar in the world! I really liked that this place isn’t pretentious for one that has so many accolades! Really loved the chill and casual vibe! The bar is known for their Negronis so we ended up getting 3 Negronis between the wife and I. The drinks were something I was curious about given all the high ratings. The wife and I ordered 2 drinks each. While they were all delicious, I was expecting something way out of the world for a bar with such high ratings. The Negroni Bianco was next level and really lived up to the hype. I didn’t feel like I was drinking a Negroni but the drink was so well balanced! The wife’s Dante’s Garibaldi with the fluffy orange was also super cool. So far so good. However my second drink, Golden Sbagliato reminded me of Vimto (lol!) and didn’t really feel complex or interesting. The food is the more under appreciated part of the bar. We ordered a scone to share and I ordered the Avocado toast and the wife got a frittata. The food was so so so good! Highly recommend.Overall, I’d say it’s a great bar and some creative and delicious drinks, but I left hoping for more given all the hype.
Very nice bar-restaurant, the ambience is very cozy. This place is in the top 50 bars of the world and I could totally see that as the drinks were very good but the food was not as good. The pasta was overboiled and the taste was a bit boring (I had the lemon pistachio pasta). For drinks I would go back but to eat no
Wonderful food, drinks. But OH THE SERVICE.Really lovely people. Resy bugged out on me and said it was a different location, and I totally bungled it.But the (very tall) maitre d who worked the door the other night was so accommodating. And didnt make me feel foolish, even though it was 100% my fault. Really appreciate his grace and kindness.Really great atmosphere. Super fun evening.
Food was good. One of the worst service experiences we’ve ever had. Our waiter greeted us when we sat down and took our drink and appetizer orders. He didn’t return to our table the rest of the night. I think the busser noticed we were sitting without service so he took our dinner order and checked on us a couple more times. What was bizarre was our original waiter continued to serve the tables around us. We had to get his attention so we could get our check to leave. Wouldn’t return
I’ve been looking forward to coming to Dante for drinks with my girl friends and it did not disappoint! The drinks were so refreshing yet complex. The ambiance is also fun and trendy, perfect spot for a date night or catching up with friends. We were going to have dinner afterwards so opted in for a charcuterie board which was delicious. And they even surprised us with a tiramisu slice on the house since we were celebrating a birthday! Make a reservation if you can to avoid a wait. Can’t wait to come back!
At first I was not looking forward to the place when I arrived. No one, and I mean no one, acknowledged our presence. After about five minutes of standing in the cold waiting for someones attention, we got seated. Once we got seated we met the star of David, David, such an amazing human being. It was my partner and Is anniversary and he just made it so special with the best service I have had in decades, and I am not making this up. His way of elaborating about drinks and food was phenomenal, service was phenomenal, and his interpersonality was phenomenal. If you go to Dante, see David, have him serve you. The food here is not hi lighted anywhere. The food at Dante is so amazing, we had the wild boar with fettuccine pasta, and a steak fillet with i believe a mushroom butter and hen mushrooms. So good. Panna cotta was amazing too. It was delicious food that does not disappoint at a affordable price too. Now the drinks. We all know dante makes the best drinks so Im not going to elaborate but what I will say is they play with drinks in the most amazing way ever. Drinks here are to heel over for. Everything we had, every drink order that could easily be screwed because of their complexity, came out absolutely perfect. Love Dante, and they absolutely, positively, will see us back. Thanks for hosting us for our anniversary, yous are amazing.
5 stars all around! This place is very sexy, I love the vibe that the owner has set up and also the attention to detail on everything from their napkins to their drink coasters that were ready for the spring season. The cocktails did not disappoint, no surprise they have received the accolades they have to do, one of the best assets to NYC hospitality scene. The waiter was very attentive, had great recommendations, and coursed out food. We had the Dante salad which was very unique but full of flavors in each bite. We also had the funghi flatbread which was very delicious and then we shared spaghetti vongole which was really good, the waiter even brought us some bread to soak up the sauce. Best cocktail bar I have been to, matched with great service and a great scene!
Loved this place, bustling cafe vibe with a great cocktail menu. They were closing for a private event that evening and as a result the service was a bit hectic as they were preparing for that, however they did their best to serve as many as people as possible before they closed etc. Staff were very friendly and we would definitely return.
We love Dante, or at least we used to. We have been coming here for the last 6-7 years for drinks, birthdays. We came here on a Tuesday at 530 to see if we can drinks and some appetizers. Remind you we have been here several dozen times and never had a bad experience. But on this particular day we asked one of the waiters by the door if we can put or name down or wait for the seat at the bar and he basically did not even want to acknowledge us, he was so rude and we were shocked to even response to him. We could not believe it how our favorite place now treats loyal customers and on goers. I’m not sure if it was this particular employee but we were so disappointed to not even get a response saying hey we won’t have anything but if you give us your name and number maybe we can text you when something opens up, but we got nothing from this guy, just really rude and basically told us to beat it. Hope they change their attitude because we love going there.
Incredible cocktails! Dante also has a lovely ambiance, even while sitting outdoors. We recently went to grab cocktails after dinner and it was really nice. The neighborhood is always lively and service was great.I had an espresso martini, which was delicious!! My boyfriend had a Manhattan, which had a large ice cube that even had “Dante” engraved, which was pretty neat. However, I will note that the Orecchiette pasta was not good. Wouldn’t recommend that.
We made a reservation but we still need to wait in line for 15 minutes. We ordered pappardelle, salad and tiramisu. Tiramisu was good. The salad was not bad. The pappardelle was… so-so. We were put in the out door seats. It was very crowded. The chair is small and hurts my back. I am not going again.
We went to this place since it was #1 in top 50 bars in the world. And I can see why. The 2 drinks I had where amazing and the food was good too. Since the drinks where perfect. (We visited also the other bars in this Top50 list and I got the same drink and this was definitely the best). This bar specialty is Negroni so if your into it you should definitely go!
Drinks and food were good (food was so tiny though). service was the worst I’ve ever had in my life - I’m ok with slow/inattentive service, but they were just disrespectful. Random waitress who was not our server brought our check at the end of the dinner and said “we need this table, like right now” with a bad attitude. Ok how about a nice warning beforehand? Also, our reservation is for 2 hours, so I didn’t understand the rush. Then, she had obviously told this group at the bar because they were staring and then told us to hurry up because they’ve been waiting an hour (which again doesn’t make sense because we had 2 hours). The waitress/host obviously “blamed” us for their mistake in blocking reservations (or maybe they didn’t even have one). People waiting should never be told which table they are waiting on, it’s so odd. On top of this it was my birthday celebration!! And they brought tiramisu and then charged for it? It’s been a couple days and I’m still upset by my experience there. Restaurant can reach out to me if they want more details but I am sure they won’t.
What is there NOT to say about this New York institution, serving their famous Negronis since 1915.Tucked away in a cute little neighbourhood, none of the character has been lost in this charming building.Drinks are mixed and served to perfection and the real surprise and delight for me here was banana bread.Any and every cocktail on their list here is recommended and I promise will not disappoint. Cheers.
If you want to meet a place for great drinks in NYC, Dante is the place you go. According to 50 best bars, this is the #1 in the world and it did not disappoint one bit.The variety of drinks its very extensive, from classic but upgraded to new and exciting ones. The Negroni Drink is their signature but they have other treasures to be found. The ones I tried were:Spicy Fresca (The perfect combination between mezcal en tequila, very fresh with a little spicy twist at the end)Espresso Martini (Intense but sweet, great to start a drinking evening)Its I place that Im definitely planning to go back again and again.
Pretty great place. It was a bit cramped, a bit expensive, and portions a bit on the small side. But, service was good. The ambiance was lovely - exposed white brick. The bar was very cool looking, with decorative bottles. And the food was delicious. The cocktails were great as well. I would go back for a bit of a splurge if Im in the area!
Definitely the best Negroni in the city. This place is very cozy, the cocktails are more than delicious and the service is very professional. This place has a Southern European vibe and it’s just the perfect spot to have an aperitivo with your friends or family. Love this place, absolutely a 5 stars establishment.
This is an institution! So YES you want to go to Dante NYC established in 1915.Never in your life youll see such amazing cocktails. Years and years I had my expectation and high and oh boy! I was having sparkles in the eyes from all the cocktails. Imthey are truly and honestly straight from heaven. Not the kind you sip in two seconds, not the average, its not a drink. Make yourself comfortable and get a reservation for the absolute NYC old school great gatsby not prohibited cocktails. The food was simply the perfect match. I ordered the avocado toast with hesutation because I always feel that avocado toast are simple and can make them easily. BUUUUUT... AGAIN never In my life I had such an amazing avocado toast. The ricotta, the surdough, the herbs!!!!!! Just perfection. Same with the cocktail enjoy slowly and get lost with the taste and flavors. The deco. Just no comment. I mean just go to Dante !The service obviously goes in pair with everything. I was expecting a snobish place and wow, I was alone on a saturday brunch and just had the greatest service ever in New York. Nothing noooothing could equal that kond of Manhattan vibe with the touch of hospitality and attention. Biiigggest highlight to Pedro who made my day!!!
A really brilliant night out, although not cheap in the slightest! The staff are great, offering insightful advice on what cocktails to choose, and the flavour profiles of the different drinks, which are varied and very original. Clearly sell prepared and very careful out together, they range from classical and simple to ultra-modern and complex. Really worth a visit, but be aware that it is very very popular and you may not get a seat or a table, as it is really busy. The food looks good, although we didnt eat - a lot of people visit for the food. They have another restaurant next door which they own and direct people to when theyre busy.
I loved Dante. My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday early evening and it was packed. I had the most delicious and visually appealing gin martini and he had a Dante version of the gin and tonic. Both delicious! We also had the parpadelle bologna which was amazing! The bartender Garrett was good at his job ;)
If you want to feel like royalty, drink delicious cocktails, dine on scrumptious food and receive excellent service, then this is the spot for you! Such a phenomenal time. The wonderful hostess found us a spot late night on Friday in just 10min. Everything was on point from start to finish.Plus, they crumb your table between every course, which is truly a turn on for this patron!
More hype than substance. Unapologetically indifferent lead staff and a crazy over-emphasis on getting people in and out to serve as many tables/cocktails as possible. Regardless of how well conceived and carefully prepared the cocktails are, there are better options right nearby.
Food wasnt bad but not amazing. Customer service was terrible. We were a group of 8 and they forgot to bring out 2 peoples meals/orders. Next time, Ill just go for drinks because their drinks were great. I loved the fluffy margarita. They also forgot that we ordered another round of drinks and olives. They were pretty busy so I hope that it was just a misunderstanding.
Great food/drinks but HORRIBLE service. Was seated at 9 at a booth/couch toward the back. Then the table next to us finished their meal, the next party sat down and ordered drinks AND got their drinks before the waitress even came to ask us for drinks. We were sitting for 30+ min! And it wasn’t like she didn’t know it was her table - she tended to the table next to us and even poured us water without asking for our beverage order. Moreover we had to flag another waiter down to eventually put in the drinks.Later on in the night she brought us the check without even asking if we wanted dessert or anything else, even though we weren’t near kitchen closing time. It was also the WRONG check. When we told her, she brought us the correct check without a single thank you or good night. I’m not one to necessarily expect pleasantries but given the behavior before this, it was just unacceptable. I expected better of this restaurant. Other staff was perfectly fine, just not this waitress.
I took my parents here for dinner the other night and it was great!I have an amazing pesto pasta dish my mother had a ragu pasta dish and my father had salmon. The service was very friendly and efficient, the location is great and the drinks are very nice as well. Can’t wait to go back again soon!
Ordered a pack of their pre-made Negroni mixes. After a friend had gone to the bar, he said it was a must do. The package came with 4 bottles of our choice, a cocktail glass (was pretty nice, wasn’t expecting anything special and it was nicer than I thought it would be), handful of coasters, some matches and a break down of their drinks and how to make it (which is perfect so we can make them whenever we want now! The drinks themselves were delicious and you get 2-3 drinks per bottle (which was perfect). It was a bit pricey, but with all the extras you get with it, I think it comes out to be pretty reasonable. Only issue was the emails they send don’t give you tracking, so you will have to email them. Shipping took forever (ships usps) which isn’t their fault and once I figure out who to reach out to, it was all good.
I just love Dante. Made a rez for a friday afternoon and had a lovely time! I’m obsessed with their cosmo spritz, and their spritz-dedicated cocktail menu is just so good. Also a great place for espresso martinis. Had lovely fish, prosciutto-melone (can’t go wrong). That day there was a live band for the afternoon which just added to the experience! Summer Fridays at Dante are great. Service, vibe, food, drinks, A+
Booked a table online - so glad we did as it was packed! We got seated fairly quickly, the space is pretty tight so you’ll be very close to the other tables and waiters will be tightly squeezed to reach you too. Nonetheless we were here for the famous negroni hour and they did not disappoint. Great variety and value, and very delicious. We also got some pasta dishes for dinner - a touch too salty but were both good. Would recommend coming here when not so busy, but given it was voted best bar in the world I doubt it will get less busy!
Perhaps the coziest and best craft cocktail bar I’ve visited in NYC. Sat at the bar and got to chat with Matt a few times about their creations. I was particularly impressed by the layered complexity of the Negroni Primavera and the Unlikely Negroni. Had also a wonderful end to our evening with shots topped with frothy orange juice. I can’t wait to come back.
Had a large get together for my wife’s birthday, and could not have been happier. Everybody was very helpful before hand and they even created a separate menu for her. The food is great and the cocktails are better. It was an enjoyable experience for all and we will visit again real soon when we return. Highly recommend for brunch.
Dope spot with very good cocktails. Crowded and hot on a summer evening but the negronis will keep you cool. Pages of different cocktails to delight the senses and the the food, which I did not try, looked amazing being carried by the friendly staff certainly worth a stop if youre in the area!
Food was good so props to the chef. Service was not on par as we repeatedly had to call for wait staff (they were a bit busy chatting amongst themselves). There was one waiter that completely ignored our raised hand though he saw it (he may have been a bartender but did not relay the message to the wait staff). Also auto 20 percent tip; a bit high for subpar service. Recommended food items are French toast and the Italian platter. Do not recommend the salmon bowl as it as way too salty.
We celebrated my wifes birthday for a group of 8 on a Saturday night in November. After I submitted and online request for a group of 6+ I was promptly contacted by Michelle who handles group reservations. She was an absolute delight to work with as she helped to decide which of the 2 locations would be best for us, help put together a pre-fix menu and suggesting pre-ordered cocktails so that we would have drinks as soon we were seated (a really nice touch!). They also put a birthday message with the set menu online on the day of the dinner - another nice touch. The table was ready for us at the set time. We were looking for vibrant atmosphere and they sat us at the center communal table which was just perfect. The serving team was hands on as soon as we sat down. The pre-fix menu was beyond reproach. Each dish was brought up with appropriate timing and the amount of food was more than enough! Our reservations were for 2 hours, but we were having so much fun that we stayed until closing - four hours in total. I would highly recommend Dante NYC for any dining experience but for a fun group dinner in NYC, it really is an ideal place.
Some of the best cocktails in NYC. The Negroni on tap was incredibly delicious as if it was created on the spot. The Rose Pedal was an experience. The taste was great, but it was the scent that blew me away. Every sip, you can smell the aroma of the rose pedal. Blew me away.
I dont care if their cocktails are good or whatever, they are extremely rude. We went inside to ask if there is a table available, and they answered no, youre gonna have to wait outside while physically pushing us out. This is not the way to treat people just because you have a fancy looking place playing french street music with simple accordion tunes 👎
Terrible service, waited outside for a table for a cocktail, only to have someone jump the queue, no acknowledgement of the people waiting outside. Worst service we’ve had in New York City. Ever. I wouldn’t actually give it one star. Terrible. Treated like a second class citizen.
Randomly came across this stunning little bar restaurant quite by chanceWe had already had lunch so we enjoyed a lovely bottle of Prosecco and desserts. We had our girls with us and they too loved the character and charm of this gorgeous findFantastic service ,lovely people, great quality food and a highly recommended stop for anybody we can’t wait to go back for lunchLovely greeting and conversation with locals too
So this place is pretty bustling. I love Negronis so this was definitely a place to get those. The flatbread was delicious and everything was good but the service was a little relaxed. Maybe too relaxed. Our server got off his shift and sat down next to us with some friends of his. We wanted to order another round and we were told we had another waiter. I guess communicating this to us would have been a better way to do it. Also, we wanted to make sure the first waiter got his tip. Anyways, the atmosphere is fun and lively so that’s the draw here. We will definitely go back again.
Im a big negroni fan, they have a lot of variety but quality was disappointing. I went with two other friends and we tried 9 different flavored negronis, to be honest we didnt like any of them. I have had much much better negronis at other places in NYC. Very disappointing at say the least
Racist maitre d with so much attitude! We went at about 12:30am on a Friday night and the place was Half empty and he refused to seat us saying he has no space for us, he dismissed us and I’ve never experienced so much attitude from a manager at any bar in any city, racist and rude, PLEASE AVOID
What a great experience at this intimate cafe, located in Greenwich Village.A bustling place on weekends...The drink menu is amazing & above all its the perfection in how the drink is made...Look for Eloy. Would like to thank you for the great great drinks...Will look forward to visit soon...
A sanctuary for Italian aperitivo. Considered one of the best US bar aperitif. Find there best bartenders visiting from allover and lots of people from the spirits industry. Start with a simple and perfect V&T ( vermouth and Tonic made with Cocchi Torino amaro).see photo.
This is a great neighborhood place for some very very nice drinks. The bartenders were definitely the ones that made the experience, as they had offered to let me taste some of the scotches before ordering a glass. The drinks are done so well, from the classics such as a mojito or G&T, to more of their unique complex ones.
Not really sure where to begin…overall the experience was extremely underwhelming. To begin, our appetizers came out before the drinks and I had to flag down the waiter to ask where they were. They’re well known for cocktails but we’ve had far better cocktails from several lesser known bars throughout the city (Shoutout Flatiron Room). The El Diablo and Salty Dog cocktails were borderline undrinkable. As for the food, the portions were small and nothing really stood out at all. The service for the price was some of the worst I’ve ever experienced. The wait staff added absolutely nothing to the dining experience. Our waiter just stood there with his pen and notepad and glared at us to give him an order. We had to flag him down to get anything. The whole experience was just nowhere close to what you would expect it to be. For $100 a person, I expect to be wowed and wowed we were not.
The foods was great. The drinks was great. I would like to order more if the server be more nicer and give us attention. I went today with my friend who I havent meet for year. I was sitting down outside for so long. And havent got any water, which is the 2 tables next to me came after and got their water. I asked the guy who have a mustache on for water because I have to take the pill politely because I have to take the pill. He was so angry towards me and expressed his nasty face reaction to me. Told me give me one moment mamy!! And gave me all attitude. Hes never came up to the table, hes never ask what I would like to order, hes never ask hows everything. I dont even bother you or anything. My friend ordered just only 1 drink and its took more than 30 minutes to get her drink. We would like to order more foods and drinks but after we had been experienced with this guy and how slow just only 1 can of drink... nope thank you. I was extremely not happy at all with that guyMight be back again and thats because of foods and drinks only. Definitely not for Monday brunchDefinitely loved their pasta!
They appear to be very quick to re publish stories on Instagram but not to respond to messages or answer their phone. This was frustrating leading up to our evening there, as we wanted to do them the courtesy of reducing the reservation from 3 to 2, but there was no way to get in contact. This neglectful ethos extended to in person service. Each time our server came by it felt like an enormous favor on his part. Both tables on either side of us were equally unhappy with the absent service, to the point that we bonded about it. We sat in the street “patio” and one of the heat lamps wasn’t working. I cannot blame a restaurant for trying to increase its footprint, but in 32 degree weather the lack of heat was a deal breaker. Worse, they were not apologetic or even concerned by the malfunctioning heatlamp causing frigidity. After the lackluster dinner, we wanted to try a cocktail at the bar given that it is where the iconic reputation comes from and felt like we ought to give the place a chance to redeem itself. The maitre d’, who was the only half-friendly staff member in the establishment, didn’t lift a finger to create room for us even though there were empty spaces at 10:30 pm on a Sunday. Overall, sorely disappointed! I really had high hopes for this one.
Dante has an extensive list of cocktails presented by a talent group of bartenders. They were able to help pinpoint my friends pallette and create the perfect beverage for her. In addition to that the bar was busy, but not loud so we could easily share a conversation without yelling. Last as seen in the picture, the cocktails are stunningly crafted.
Incredible drinks and food! However the service wasnt great, if you consider the expensive menu and +$16 cocktails. The food was served before the drinks, we have to ask for the drinks, when at last we were able to get the waiters attention I ordered another drink that arrived almost at the same time of the check. Tons of improvement areas on service!
I was really looking forward to dinner here and was a little bummed out. Our server wasnt very attentive, we waited about 20-30 minutes after we were sat before they even took a drink order from us. My meal was fine, but my partners was overcooked and tough. We would have said something, but our server didnt come back for another 15 minutes and by then we just wanted to leave. The tables around us were equally getting annoyed, so it wasnt just us. Might have just been an off night.
I would give 5 starts to the cocktails and pasta. And 4 starts to the flatbread, focaccia and desserts ( we tried the cannoli)! The location is great and very cute restaurant, the bar inside is gorgeous. The staff is not as attentive as I would have expected for example they spilled my drink while brining it to the table and I had to clean up the table myself and ask for a new napkin, they also never check in on us and it was not easy to find someone to order additional items. I would definitely go back to try more cocktails and the pastas!
The original Dante is the BEST! No questions asked, no hesitation.Leigh runs a great service at one of the hottest and busiest cocktail bars below 14th street, and the full team deserves a huge shoutout! From seamless services to busy sidewalks (and sometimes unpredictable customers) they always deliver with a A+ team! The drinks speak for themselves - they are creative, stellar, and beautifully crafted. But the food should also not go unnoticed, the menu is great especially the salads and flatbreads!
Service was not great, especially considering the ~$20 cocktails. Our table was frequently skipped over by the waiters, despite our attempts to get their attention. It would take 20+ minutes to get a water refill even though it was ~100° and other tables were more frequently serviced. The service and even quality of drinks was better at the newer Dante West Village location.
This used to be a great place for Italians , now is just a coffee shop with Italian name with bad espressos and watery tiramisu with below average service ... too bad... And the Manager or Owner or Host working without Mask inside ..... Probably another Superman ....
Staff was extremely rude and wouldn’t accommodate my friend and me. Came here as a walk in to sit at the bar because it clearly states on their website that walk ins are welcome and reservations are only for parties who plan to eat. The bus boy was acting as a host and said we needed to go elsewhere because we didn’t have a reservation. When I told him what it said on the website he said it wasn’t accurate. I even called the place and the recording said walk ins are always welcome. I believe his refusal to serve us was because we were black women, because when a white couple came he was more willing to work with them and accommodate them. Definitely won’t go back
Great service. Discreetly located on McDougal in the West Village. Established in 1915 and known for its cocktails. I had a classic Aperol Spritz (actually a couple) and they were perfectly balanced. Oddly though, it was garnished with a lemon and olive which I put on the side and my friend wound up eating the olives lol. She had an Old Fashioned which she said was also really good. I ate the pasta with Shredded boar meat (cant remember the name) and it was deeeelish! I also tried my friends mushroom flatbread and it too was super yummy and light. No complaints on this end and Ill definitely be back to try some of their signature libations and dishes.

2022-01-28Amazing vibes, excellent food and great service. Every dish is worth trying. Id wager its nearly impossible to walk out feeling unsatisfied after a meal at Dante! They switched our drink since it wasnt to our taste, and they have the cutest Happy Birthday routine.Side note - the Grasshopper is delicious and the truffle pasta is lit. SHOUT-OUT TO ROAST POTATOES.

2022-02-07If I could, I’d give the food 10 stars. Everything was delicious! I ordered the avocado test and wanted to order 3 more even though the serving was quite large. But the toast was so delicious and the eggs were poached to perfection. My cappuccino was as tasty and caffeinating as it was beautiful.Service, on the other hand, was lacking. We had to ask for our coffee multiple times. I’m jealous of all of the other reviews with incredible looking cocktails - we never received a drink menu. They tried to take away plates we were still working on as if to hurry us up but then we had to ask for the bill multiple times. Service was inconsistent but that wouldn’t stop me from going here again!

2021-12-29Such a good atmosphere and amazing drinks! The presentation of each drink was very pretty. Even though the drinks were pricey, it was well worth it. Definitely recommend for a night out.

2022-01-29The cocktails are pricey but in my humble opinion you get what you pay for and these are out of this world! Served in a beautiful European cafe style setting with excellent service. It can get busy so be prepared for a wait, especially on weekends. Highly recommended for a great night out!

2022-06-14What is there to say about this iconic restaurant? Well, cocktails were worth the visit, but food was subpar to be honest. Their cheeseboard felt like they got their cheese from Trader Joe’s (no offense, love tjs) but was incredibly overpriced. The lamb flatbread was good, and the shrimp salad was so so. I gave it 3 stars because service was truly horrible. I was there for lunch and the place was not busy and seemed to be well staffed, but our server was no where to be found while waiting on us.

2022-02-19Really good food! Not a lot vegetarian options. Highly decorated the pistachio pasta and green beans. The chicken parm did not come with pasta.

2022-05-07Today was a freezing and rainy day- the ONLY seating was under scaffolding and no heat. That didn’t stop me from enjoying some of THE BEST and most creative cocktails in NYC. The food is also great. But the cocktails are unspeakably delish.

2022-06-27For some reason, my last experience here was rather disappointing. I love the Dante west village location. The menu and cocktails are different. The drinks are still just as good here, but it doesn’t have AC inside and it was extremely hot. I tried their summer cocktails which I recommend (both buttercup and highball). The food was not as good as last I remembered. We ordered the shrimp salad, burrata, steak, pappardelle, chitarra vongole. I liked the cannoli but nothing else stood out. The pappardelle texture was almost slimey, steak chewy, chitarra tasted like pool water, and the burrata overall not as creamy as I would’ve hoped for. Would come back just for the drinks.

2022-04-20The drinks here are absolutely made to perfection and are very strong. We went on a sunny Friday and it could not have worked out perfectly for us. We didn’t have a reservation but we were able to get in and sit at the bar. Worked out perfectly and couldn’t have asked for a better way to start a beautiful night in nyc.

2022-01-22I read about Dante on a few blog post and always wanted to come here. This place is amazing. The drinks are bomb.com! Literally every drink i had was on point. Especially the drinks that I’m typically not into were just amazing. Will definitely come here again with my friends.
