Found this place by accident and it ended up being the perfect start to our vacation! The bourbons were great in a flight or in the amazing BBQ Bloody Mary! Staff is friendly and very knowledgeable.Bought the Blues Bourbon to take home!
Staff: friendly and helpful! Spirits: nicely prepared and presented! Variety: unique and delightful, with a few surprises - I am not often taken by what I’d call “dessert” brandies, but I was particularly pleased by “Annie on Fire,” which really delivers at 70 proof, and seems to satisfy with just a sip or two, any time of day! Thanks!
Never buy anywhere but dark island distillery. I like the hard north. I can sip it plain. Jack daniels or anything like that makes me wana puke just looking at it. I will never drink no nasty common liquer from the liquer stores. Distillery is imperessive.Top notch stuff here. They insist sample before you buy. The staff are awesome. Never drink crappy fake liquor again go to dark island.
I don’t drink beer nor wine (so pickings are kinda slim for me) I stumbled across this place last year when I visited ABay. The staff obviously love what they do, they were very kind and attentive to our overall satisfaction. They offered up certain drinks that they felt I might like enjoy and allowed me to sample before I purchase certain items. Their Rum and “Annie on Fire” are amazing !This year to my surprise, the same who served me last year not only remembered me from the previous stay, he remembered my name, Talk about customer service!Highly recommend!!!

Went in after exploring the town. There was a large patio seating area and some shopping inside. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The drink menu had some great choices and were carefully made and tasted great. The gifts in the shop were unique. They had plenty of tasting options and an area for those under 21. Definitely worth a stop in.
Make it a plan to stop here, amazing adult slushies! You walk in and immediately feel welcomed even if your just browsing. We really enjoyed our beverages and the warm hospitality we felt when we walked in.
Dark Island Spirits is home to an amazing product and fantastic staff. I highly recommend sitting out on the patio and enjoying a nice cocktail (or 3)! My favorite place to enjoy an adult beverage on the St. Lawrence River.
If youre legally allowed to consume alcohol, youre in A-Bay, and you dont get one of the slushies here, you are depriving yourself of one of the greatest treats this place has to offer. They are boozy, cold, and refreshing. We always make sure to stop in here when were in the area.
If you have a distinctive pallet for liquor this is a must stop. Mike was great to talk with about all the processes, flavors and delicacies of their products. 2 thumbs up!!!
We had a great time visiting this distillery. Super fascinating concept! The staff, Mike was very knowledgeable and chatted about all the different spirits and gave us context. His product is excellent and Im super impressed! We would recommend this to anyone who likes a great bourbon, whiskey, real apple brandy, or vodka.
A great experience. The owner was very knowledgeable and gave us a very detailed tour of the facility, which is very clean and extremely interesting. The product tasting was great, everything they make is delicious and very well priced. Gift shop is also full of treasures and again, very well priced. As a Canadian, this was a highlight of my trip to upstate NY and my favourite part was everything I learned about whiskey. Highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys whiskey.
Best customer service I have had on this coast! The gentlemen are incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about their craft. I loved nerding out and getting all the facts about how the spirits were made and their patented music aging system. They were incredibly generous and created an atmosphere that was classy, inviting, educational, and safe from any sort of rowdy scene. I also appreciated how they support other local businesses. As someone who grew up on the West Coast where everything is a “craft” and an “art,” my inner hipster felt at home and so happy 😂❤️ Please give this place a try!

Dark Island Spirits is a very special place, and a new landmark we are lucky to have in our area! I just love going there as it has great atmosphere, excellent specialty cocktails, lots of special consume able and other items. Best of all are the spirits. There is a great variety of options: toasted coconut rum, maple whiskey, apple brandy, vodkas, bourbons, scotch, and even a special strong 10th Mountain Division distillation, all musically enhanced. There’s a nice patio for outdoor seating, and their own brand of hand sanitizer. Dark Island Spirits has so much to offer!
The staff is AMAZING and so helpful! They teach you and are passionate about their Spirits that they offer:) I bought several bottles and we love the Snow Wheat Maple Whiskey. Dont miss visiting this place when you are in Alex Bay, truly a treat.
Great experience and a must visit in Alexandria Bay. The owner was so welcoming and it was very interesting to learn about their distilling process. The whiskey was great and everything else we tried and we left with a bottle. Excited to share wth friends and family when we get home :)

The drinks are unique, flavorful, and smooth. The workers here are very nice and personable. Plus...the whole musically crafted thing puts a really unique and cool twist on the distillery and the drinks themselves! Cannot wait until I visit Alex Bay again, just so I can stop by Dark Island Spirits!
I cant say enough good things about the spirits and the experience at this distillery. Their products are the best we have had in NYS. Their level of knowledge of spirits production globally is remarkable. We visit every time are in the area. You must stop if you are in the Thousand Islands area. Mike and Will are great hosts!
I love the ReVino, really an outstanding Bourbon. We just came by the distillery and really enjoyed just sitting there and having a drink and a nice talk to the staff.If it would be possible to get their products shipped to Germany I would definitely go and get some bottles 😁 and I will definitely come back and visit again.
The staff alone are a great reason to visit. Very nice + very informative. Great atmosphere, delicious slushies, and overall a must visit on your trip. I barely even like alcohol and still had a fun time with the staff and grabbing a slushie!! Yum!!!
Fascinating and fun place. They musically mature, their spirits as well as use amethysts in the process. You can get inexpensive tastings or great cocktails, and everyone there is so friendly and well-informed. Also, great tunes.
Weve done several tastings at craft distilleries. We usually find that the product really doesnt come close to what weve become accustomed to from mainstream distilleries. We were quite surprised at how tasty many of Dark Islands products were. Specifically, the bourbon was wonderful and we bought some to take home to a bourbon collecting friend of ours.
Great cocktails, super nice people. Their liquors are top notch. Definitely make it a stop if youre in the neighborhood!
Wonderful place! If you come and visit this is definitely a place you should stop in! Warm & friendly helpful staff. Very laid back elegant store. We will def be back next time we are in town! Very clean place staff was very professional and answered any questions I had they were quick to let me try samples if I inquired about a specific bottle of something which led me to make a purchase of multiple items extremely pleased will return again and highly recommend

2021-09-12We had a nice time doing a tasting here! The staff was friendly. The raspberry crush was our favorite, and the grapefruit vodka was our second favorite. We had high hopes for the Citron, but it had a slightly soapy after taste. They whiskey/bourbon selecting was good, but there wasn’t anything I felt I needed to pick up. I would stop here if you’d like to relax! I hear a few people really enjoying the slushees too!

2022-05-06Really great distillery!We came in during an anniversary trip to the area a stopped in. We weren’t disappointed. They have a nice variety of in house liquors along with a few draft beers and a large gift shop as well.The bartender/host was friendly and knowledgeable about their products and we had a really nice time.I’m not sure there’s much else that can be said, but we liked the clean, inviting maritime themed vibe and would recommend it as a nice stopping point if you’re in the area.

2022-04-13The owner was very helpful. The store was closed but him noticed us looking at the front door.( The store is closed in the winter months) He open the store and we were able the shop in the store plus sample some spirits. We ended up buying to bottles. He was a very nice man. We will be making a trip back in the summer months. When its open to the public.

2022-06-29Great place and very friendly! He helped my son with his first flight of whisky by teaching him the proper way to enjoy it. There was plenty to choose from and even some more we are waiting on to be ready. We will be back.

2018-09-10LOVE this place. Friendly staff and GREAT drinks. We grabbed a couple delicious cocktails (Hard Ginger and Hard Kick To The Head) while browsing the local merch. Don’t forget to grab a to-go slushy for the road (that you booze up off premise - GENIUS!)

2020-06-28My husband and I recieved excellent service from Will and Mike. Will was very informative about the products they made and sold at Dark Island Spirits. We tried the slushies. They were amazing. So many flavor combinations also alot of options of liquor to add to them. After you choose your slushy flavor you go to the counter and they will help you pick a liquor that would go best with it. Shots are also an option and are reasonably priced. The Spirits tasting was a great deal. The tasting helped me choose a bottle I wanted to purchase. Dark Island Spirits is a BYOF (bring your own food) establishment. You can sit on the deck eat your food and enjoy your drinks. The service was amazing. A family run business and they were so nice. I will definitely be coming back and recommending Dark Island Spirits to everyone. Such great products and prices. Thanks guys for making our experience amazing!!!!!!!
