Prices are good with a deep selection of work wear, workers are a little pushy and you can tell they’re forced to approach you 24/7. Other than that good stuff

By far the best store in NYC in my opinion. Staff was super friendly and willing to help you find your size or style. As a European workwear lover I felt like a kid in a candy story with all the Dickies and Carhartt clothing.10 stars!
Great store had a wide veriety of brands and sizes to choose from., Fantastic customer service, associates were courteous and very helpful. The fitting room attendant helped me get a different size pant when the one I had chosen felt off, the floor attendant went to the navy to get me clothes that were not on the shelves.Only issue is the fitting rooms need mirrors within them, not everyone is comfortable using the outside mirrors to check the fit of the clothes.
Dont go anywhere else for jeans, chinos and work wear in NYC. Daves is the place. A great selection. Super helpful stuff. Great prices. A real NYC institution.
Ill be ordering online its not the same Daves we grew to love as Union workers. It was hard to find decent Carhartt pants and shorts in size. All I heard is we dont carry this and that .

Bets shop to buy workwear, ive been there a few times over the years and i love to get there carhartt clothes.
I have to admit Im a little biased because Daves is also a long time customer of my business but I will say that these people care. They care about the products they sell and they care about giving the attention to their customers. Everybody who works here knows about the products they sell and you cant get that online.
Went there the other day for work boots and was taken care of immediately. Even chatted it up with one of the employees while I waited for my boots. Great staff and a nice selection of work boots and clothes.

I went there to find jeans. I was looking for my size so the big guy at the entrance of the fitting rooms offered to help me. I accepted but I wish I didnt... he was rude and told me that this model would not fit me for sure because of my body type... When I gave him back the jeans saying they didnt fit me, he stared at me for a few seconds, I really had the feeling he was about to punch me in the face. He then said something in his beard in a rude and angry way but I couldnt hear exactly what he said. A few seconds later he said to another customer how annoying some people were... and he was staring at me. Please do not go there, there are so many other nicer shops...
I stood in the cold black friday rain to get my father a new pouch for him ( former MP and proud) I waited they let me in early and I got the pouch and fell hard in love for the store. They didnt have discounts for black friday but their items like clothes and coats are of high quality and am going to save my money to buy in this store. All the staff were cool and helpful and were always courteous from entering to exit.

My favorite place to shop for work clothes! And not just work clothes! This is a New York City staple, good prices, great selection, friendly and helpful service.
When I found this store I was super excited!I recommend it to my family and friends. The day I went with my family (they are not fluent in English) they treat them bad! They keep on having attitude when they ask questions(even tho I would translate) it got to the point that they felt uncomfortable. My brother in law was ready to buy some work boots but decided not to because he felt uncomfortable. After that I honestly don’t step back in that store! I hope they don’t do this to every customer that’s not fluent in English.
Literally everyone there was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Like, people write these lines a lot, but I was actually floored by the service at this store. Walked in for a belt and wallet, walked out with a new place to buy pretty much everything Id want. Couldnt recommend more.

Im just difficult. I usually only give 5 stars if something exceeded my expectations. The staff is always pleasant, ready willing & eager to help. Your prices are comparable and your stock usually has what I need. Ive been working outdoors since 2009 & youre usually my first stop for work gear. So now that I think of it...5 stars it is Mr Dave! This is a great store for work clothing (carhartt, dickies, etc). They dont have the full range of colors/fits/sizes but the pricing is on par with the online retailers and the staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. One of a kind store in manhattan!

Very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Daves is one of the very few stores in the city that offers construction clothing and footwear from reputable brands like Carhartt, Red Wing, Timberland and more. Prices are fair and rarely above online prices (I just purchased Timberland Pro Hypercharge work boots for $149 and thats the same price on Amazon).

I found them on Carhartt.coms preferred retailers list. Extremely helpful and friendly staff! You basically feel like family after youve left the store! Easy location to get to and unbelievable selection.I came in here after Carhartt canceled my account due to an out of stock item for my 4 year old son. I am glad that happened though, because if the order had gone through I wouldve received a bigger size than I wanted.They showed me different sizes and gave me advise in terms of size for my bigger/taller 4 year old.Definitely a go-to store from now on and about to order a new jacket after this review, lol.

If youre looking for workwear, skatewear, or generally good casualwear, Daves is a hit. Carrying Carhartt, Wrangler, Levi, and Dickies, youll be hard pressed to not find what you need. The salespeople are extremely helpful and knowledgeable and can definitely recommend options for you to try on. Pricing is standard at worst and a good value otherwise.

Great prices on Levis, Dockers, Carhartt jeans etc. I paid $80 for two pairs of good Levis jeans (there was $10 off if you buy two pairs). Thats the same price as Zappos (but here you can try on and find the perfect size). Good selections of models, sizes and colours too. Small changing rooms but good and helpful service. Ill return next time Im in NYC.

Upon entering for the first time, I was taken with the utter professionalism and personable nature of the team. They are eager to help and seem pretty knowledgeable about what they sell. I usually hate clothes shopping, and if I were to judge this just based off the quality of interactions with and social intelligence of the team members, this was probably the best retail experience I’ve ever had. I really wanted to give this five stars and rave about it, but a couple of things threw me off.Covid-handling: despite the limiting of peopleIn-store, it’s still pretty crowded in there and several people (employees and customers) either had their noses sticking out or had a flimsy piece of bandana cloth or balaclava pulled over their face, which doesn’t prevent the spread of the disease at all. It’s kind of sad that after all this time, people still think this is okay but I think this is a big factor in why USA numbers are the worst in the world and the nyc numbers keep going up. Having just any material kind of over your face isn’t enough, unfortunately. It also sucks that employees have to stay vigilant about this stuff but it is ultimately their responsibility to keep the environment safe.Reliability of recommendations: When you have a high-touch retail experience and run a place as clearly special as Dave’s, you emphasize the authority and knowledge of your employees above all else, in addition to the fact that you presumably only carry quality stuff. On my visit a few weeks ago, after telling a rep that I was going to Maine for a hiking trip, I got a pair of expensive (but competitively priced) Wigwam socks on the recommendation of a rep. Luckily it was creepy-warm on my trip so I didn’t even need to use them, but I just tried them out in on a chilly NYC day and my toes were freezing, even while wearing wool-lined Allen Edmonds boots. This didn’t happen with any of the other similar smartwool-style socks I have — Costco brand, or even carhartt and Merrill ones I got used (lol) from a thrift store ten years ago. Upon returning home and turning inside out to investigate, I found unlike the other socks, the seam connecting the toe was paper-thin and totally lacked the wool fibers present on the rest of the sock, so the cold air was just sneaking in through there — a pretty silly design choice if you ask me; imagine a wool sweater that inexplicably had a strip of t-shirt material across the nipples 😂.I also spoke with a different rep about needing gloves for winter biking, and he suggested $30 deerskin ones lined with thinsulate. As it turned out, at about 45 degrees and below, the wind cut right through and I could barely feel my hands — pretty much felt the same as not wearing any gloves at all and underperformed the cheap thin cashmere-lined gloves I got at Nordstrom rack (even with their current holes in lining from wear). Even with no wind I still could barely feel my hands.So basically, I wanted to love this place, (and still recommend it to everyone I can, because it’s probably still the best in the city) but the off-point-ness of the advice paired with the return policy was pretty disappointing. When you have entire categories of products that cannot be properly evaluated until the packaging is removed, which then disqualifies one from returning said product, the customer is relying on you to really know what you’re selling (i.e. knowing roughly the temperature rating of each thing or whether it’s wind proof), and/or to not sell stuff that’s sub-par to begin with. If this were your average big box retailer I wouldn’t bother writing something like this, but they clearly strive for excellence so I know they can do better.

I hate buying clothes because most stores have DISCOUNT SALE SALE 90% OFF, combined with crappy clothes, flashing lights, and loud music. This is a simple store and they have the lowest price you’ll find on mid-high quality items (I compared against amazon on quite a few times). The staff is helpful to get you what you want without trying to up-sell anything. The clothes are mostly blue collar workwear themed but there’s a good amount of clothes that work great for casual offices. The store is fairly well stocked, everything seems to be good quality, the staff is nice, and the prices are great. I’ll be back.
Used to love this place and looked forward to coming back but the staff are waaaaaayyyyyyyyy too invasive and never stop asking if you need help or need a size or if youre looking for something. I wanted to just tell them dang can I just look around??? Oh and to make matters worse they got more workers than customers in the store. Everywhere I turn around theres a daves employee following me watching my every move like Im some kind of thief. I even asked them if they want to check (hold on to) my bookbag because it was getting so bad. They made me feel super uncomfortable, and I was planning on buying a few pairs of jeans and some shirts but just ended up leaving. Other than that amazing selection and great prices.

Amazing! I love this place. This is the place if you need safety boots for women last minute. John took care of me after a tiring day at work and he was so patient and nice with me. I got Red Wings. I love the variety of boots they have. While Modells doesnt have any, they have 4 varieties or more of comfortable safety boots.
In NYC for a fifth time visiting from NZ and only just discovered this epic store. I had to go back several times as the choice was a little overwhelming. Great staff, great workwear and everyday wear. Absolutely loved the place and went home with the suitcase stuffed. Daves is now proudly supported in small town New zealand.
Fantastic store, incredibly helpful staff, came all the way from England to visit the store and even though they didnt have the winter coat in my size the store staff were very helpful at getting me what I wanted with suggestions of other places.Its nice to deal with staff that are not interested in pressuring you for a sale and are focused on customer service and satisfaction.When I return from England Ill visit again

Theyre amazing. I had some problems with my on-line order but they did their best to help me out. They prepared all the items I needed (and my list was rather long) and gave me a call to notify about the status of my order, so I didnt have to worry about anything. I never write poor reviews of businesses, so it really took a lot for me to find it worth my time to complain about this store. Dishonest return policy and terribly rude staff. Go anywhere else for the products sold at this store. I went into the store to exchange a jacket that was a gift to me. I picked out a few different styles and some other clothing items and went to the dressing room. The man at the entrance of the dressing room told me I could not use a room. It was extremely confusing. He kept stating I could not use a room and telling me to use a mirror on the store floor, while I had shirts to try on and definitely needed the privacy of a room. Other employees were apologizing on his behalf, but I was still not given a room. After that I decided I just wanted a refund for the jacket I had. I went to the counter and was told I cannot return the jacket because I had stained it and tried to get the stain out.... I haven’t even taken the jacket out of the bag since receiving it. The saleswoman was incredibly rude, and kept telling me I had stained the jacket. I was told if I could get the “stain” out and come back they’d accept the jacket. Well, I went home and ran a lint roller over said stain and it came right out. There was never a stain. I had the gift buyer go back to return it, because I was told the original purchaser could be the only one to return it, and she was turned away very rudely again. There is absolutely no change to the jacket that she walked out of the store with when she bought it. Avoid all the headache, go to a different store with nicer, more helpful employees and an honest return policy.
Best selection of workwear that I’ve seen in the city, and cheaper levi’s than the levi’s store on 14th, which is really convenient. the staff do make their presence known, but it’s not a bad thing like a lot of reviews are saying, you can just tell them you’re browsing. the staff seem to know a lot about their products, as I’ve overheard them explaining to customers which jackets are warmer, which boots are useful for different jobs, etc. which is nice to see, and sets them apart from more mainstream retailers. haven’t tried to return anything yet, so I can’t speak on that.
Was excited to go here for the first time.. Great overall selection, but the womens work boots section was extremely limited. Decided to look around for other things I need for work while I was there, till I realized an employee was following me around the whole store. Made me uncomfortable to a point where I forgot what I needed. So, I left empty-handed.Gloves. I needed gloves.
Mythical place for two kinds of people, skaters and working men! Great prices, the best attention. Really good selection on weather proof clothes. The shoes are not as cool or pretty. The coats are amazing, the prices have not gone up for such good pieces and such a nice place. Definitely recommended for a gear up to work or look streetwear ready. The down side is that their women selection is very limited and a bit dated.

Im from the UK and went to Daves for a specific brand of jeans. This was after traipsing all over NYC and googling where to buy. The store is well stocked, we spoke to the owner and the staff were beyond helpful. I would certainly shop at Daves again on my next visit to NYC.
We went there on a rainy sunday and weren’t disappointed! Very low prices (35$ for a pair of Levi’s jeans) and super friendly staff. They all speak French, which is really pleasant as a tourist, and they are ready to help you for hours! I truly recommend.

This is one of the best work boots stores in NYC. I get my work boots from this store regularly. The customer service is really responsive and on the point. I got a pair and it was a bit smaller than I needed. The store ordered a new pair for my size and called me up to pick them up even after my exchange period was up.

Legit store for work wear. When I worked in a metal shop they shopped here, when I managed a bunch of building maintenance folks they shopped here, same with the folks installing network equipment. Its good stuff, decent prices and the staff is helpful.
This is my first time to Daves New York City I was impressed with the amount of selection and a great sales team that they have. Everybody was very helpful great prices great location cant say enough good stuff about this store. All the salesman in the carhartt section were very knowledgeable about their products.
I came here for steel toe boots by recommendation of my colleagues. Being a newbie to this footwear, I was clueless and had many questions, which were all patiently answered, and I was selected with the suitable pair based on my specifications. After trying on a few comps, I came out with a great pair mixing both style and utility without going over my budget. I was also looking for safety goggles, and the cashier kindly directed me to the nearby Loews and Home Depot. The folks here definitely make sure youre taken care of. Awesome friendly service with the New York touch!
I went in here to buy a couple carhartt items for my boyfriend. Immediately upon walking into the store I noticed an odd amount of eyes on me but I decided to chalk it up to the employees being “extra helpful”. However, as I spent more time walking around the store and picked up more things, I began to realize I was actually being followed throughout the store! I was so uncomfortable, every time I would pick something up an employee would be right behind me starring me down. I noticed none of the white customers had anyone following them. As soon as I headed to the cash register to pay the demeanor of the employees changed- I’m guessing because they realized I had money to give them. After buying almost $180 worth of stuff I decided to go back the next day and return everything because my experience was so bad that I genuinely didn’t feel like the store deserved my money. Mind you the items literally had not left the bag becuase like I said they were for my boyfriend and I had no use for them. Employee who processed return took almost 10 minutes basically staring at the items with a microscope looking for any reason to deny the return. I was holding flowers and he tried to say the flower water had destroyed a sweater (they were in two different bags) I made it clear I wasn’t having it and he processed my return. This is no way to treat paying customers and in 2019 it’s almost laughable that people are still following black people around stores. You’ll take my money but show me no respect. So I’ll take my money somewhere else.

Absolutely love this place. Huge selection of Carhartt & work gear--every time I come in, I want one of everything! Staff is always friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. Today I bought a pair of Red Wings and the guy helping me was SO patient as I tried to decide between 2 pair of boots. Prices are also cheaper than any other store in NYC or anything Ive seen online for the same products. Im like a kid in a candy store every time I come here (which has been quite often since I discovered this place 2 mths ago!)

Daves has a great selection of Woolrich, Levi, Carhartt, and a couple other brands at discount prices. The store is a bit cluttered which is nice, its got a better selection and the staff is actually very helpful about the things you wouldnt think they would know - for example types of down, stitch quality, and just general knowledge about the jackets. The member we spoke with in particular was very upfront and honest about what prices things would be at elsewhere and the line quality of the jackets and such.Additionally being a discount place, I was able to find my jacket for 25% less at Daves than advertised online or elsewhere. There is seriously no other place I get as good service as this store. As a woman I can go into a lot of places that are male dominated spaces and be totally ignored by the staff (hardware stores, comic shops, lumber yards) - the staff at Daves is so helpful. If I walked into 30 other places like this I could almost grantee you I would not get helped. I everybody that worked at this store said hello and asked if they could assist me; and not in a patronizing way, in a totally nice helpful kind of way. I was given what I was looking for, and was checked out in the most efficient possible manner.

Visited the store multiple times in the space of a few days, spending over $350 in there. They defiantly have good prices for the brands that they have but probably the worst customer service that I have ever experienced! The only reason Im not giving one star is because there was one nice guy that helped me out, other then that the staff was all a bit rude and could do with so hospitality!Also i nearly for got to mention almost all the clothing i bought was carhartt and saw that there was a premotion for $100 spent on carhartt but when I asked a member of staff they simply just mumbled and walked away.... I actually thought he was joking around but I guess not!Its a shame because I like the place but its got really, REALLY bad customer service!!!!

Prices that match online retailers, plus the best selection of Levis (they even sell a selection that are made in USA), dickies, Carhart, redwing, in NYC. Staff is super knowledgeable and helpful. Plenty of dressing rooms. You can be in and out of here within 10 minutes! THE BEST!

Went to replace pair of Carhartt cargo pants. Because I had removed the generic labels, they attempted to give me the business. Eventually, swapped for larger size. I thought presenting the receipt was sufficient. Well, not when receipt contains language pertaining to having labels attached for xchange.

I was looking for some jeans at a reasonable price. Google suggested to visit Daves... I do not regret it! Bought a couple of Lee jeans for 25 bucks each... Perfect!
Required visiting for the classic basics, with a full stock of Carhartt, Levis, Wranglers, etc. Staff is eternally helpful and friendly, prices are excellent. Selection changes almost weekly, though, so if you find something you love youd better stock up.
Love Daves. One of the few real Army/Navy stores left. Also very good selection of Carhartt, Dickies and Champion. Sizes from XS to 5X and tells usually in stock.

Went in to buy Redwing boots. They brought out a pair that was made of the worst leather Ive ever encountered. It was stiff, rough, and more like cardboard than leather, and the individual pieces that made up the boots were cut incorrectly, resulting in an incredibly uncomfortable fit and a funhouse-mirror aesthetic.When I brought these issues up with the salesperson he told me the display boots were nicer because of the oil from people touching them all day, and that Id just have to wait for the boots to wear in. I took my business to an actual Redwing store and got proper boots made from proper leather cut the proper way, from salespeople who werent trying to push subpar product.

The shoe department was a total nightmare. Waited 30 minutes after tell him the guy what shoe I wanted. Then he comes back with the wrong size and get angry at me for making a comment about it. I just left this store very disappointed. I have purchased boots for work there before and was looking to walk out of the store with another pair. It was a busy day and the staff was helpful, with the exception of the spectacled, blonde man, who was very rude to my wife and other customers. Because of his attitude, I left the boots I was about to purchase and walked out.

Problably the best place to buy clothes if you do construction for a living. I bought my insulated Carthartt bib and a pair of Redwings boots from here. I was told this is the only store that carries Carthartt for women as well. I mean, every type of clothing you would need for utilitarian purposes can be found here.

Daves Sporting goods has been good for New York City for an awfully long time. From meeting the fundamental needs of seasonal construction workers, sports wearing clothes and todays brand thirsty types, nobody bodies ever dissatisfied with Daves.

This place is wayyy over employed. As soon as you walk In abou 8 employees are asking if you need help following you around because theres nothing else for them to do. Have some of your employees work in the back not all of them need to be on the floor. It is way to crowded and the customer does not have space to freely rome around

2022-05-08My husband and I HIGHLY recommend Daves.We visited the store after seeing online that it stocks Carhartt goods, but when we arrived we did not expect such a HUGE selection of workwear - think Ben Davis, Levis, Dickies and more. We spent almost 2 hours (or maybe more? haha) in the store, enjoying every minute of it.We were really impressed by the high quality of customer service. The staff were all so attentive and patient, and whenever we asked them a question, they do their best to help or give recommendations based on what we are looking for.Shout out to Chris whom we enjoyed chatting with, and made us feel right at home there.My husband got himself some high quality tees and cargo pants at a really unbeatable price, and I also got myself a pair of denim dungarees for women. Were looking forward to visiting Daves again the next time were in NYC! :)

Let me also mention Daves is closed on Sundays, however on Saturday you can park on 6th Avenue for free, you dont have to feed the meter! Further, Daves has the best salesmen/women on the planet. Even the cashiers are pleasant. Best selection of jeans around I must reiterate. Hey dont take my word for it, check it out yourselves. If you dont, more for me. Peace.
