Please save yourself the trouble and take your gear anywhere am else.If I could rate it lower I would. Brought a pair of NS-10s in because the were terribly distorted in the low end. They had them for a month so I finally called and asked what was taking so long and they said they would call me later that week. They did call and told me that there was nothing wrong with them and that there is a bench fee of $75. I brought them home hooked them up and sure enough still distorted. And not subtly but very obvious and pronounced! Brought them to a shop upstate where my brother lives and sure enough the cones were torn off the magnets and needed to be replaced. Just an awful all around experience and their customer service was actually worse than their engineering skills. The guitarist in my band unknowingly brought his fender amp their to be serviced and had almost an identical experience except that his took more than 2 months to get back.
Dont know whats up with these reviews (parking is horrible? Uh...Manhattan?). Many, many pros swear by Dbm. JR Frondelli is one of the most highly recommended speaker reconers (if not the only speaker reconer) in NYC. He repaired my woofer in my Leslie cabinet in less than a week. Fair prices (again, dont know what people expect from a business with employees and rent to pay), they were willing to talk a great deal about the work, friendly, no b.s. Wouldnt hesitate to take any of my electronic audio gear to them.
This place is a bad joke. They had my RE-201 Space Echo for an entire year (they repeatedly forgot about it despite me calling and following up every few months, which seems crazy on the face of it), at which point they declared it unfixable and sent me on my way, charging me only part of the bench fee.. how big of them.Dont go anywhere near these guys with anything you care about. It does seem like a good spot to get rid of gear you dont want to bring to the dump, though, itll be months or years before they notice.
Anyone with any audio technical problems, come here! Everyone’s so polite and accommodating and they get the job done fast. I really want to thank everyone here for quickly fixing my TASCAM recorder when I really needed it. Everyone who needs audio technical support, come right down here!

2021-08-02I have an old Fischer amp from the 80’s that after many years of great performance now has only one channel working. Called dBm to see about getting it repaired and was told upfront about the initial cost of 150+ tax to diagnose the cause with the final cost likely to edge into a higher range before all was done. While I was on the phone, the technician found 3 different offers for the same amp on EBay costing under the likely cost of my repair. The tech could have taken my amp in and charged me more but he provided options and an honesty that, in my experience, is often lacking.

2022-03-27Was looking to get Speakers ports to be changed to XLR plugs and a EQ sortage fixed , but reading these reviews, I decided not to use them , this place sounds terrible and very disrespectful to clients , and over charged , Seems as though they should close down immediately.. cause they are no good at all , consider that option Dbm Audio service or get a new team of willing audio technicians ... ..

2021-11-16Its taking way too long for servicing. The store hours are limited to Monday and Thursday. The total cost of repair on an old Carver non commercial Amp is more than the purchase price several decades ago. Was not given the option to halt repair. $150 deposit made on each item supposedly for labor, and nothing is discounted. I feel as if my last item is keeping myself held hostage as no one has an idea as to how long it will take for the part to come in, or how much it will cost me additionally for such part and labor. I am feeling helpless.

2020-03-16Ive been a happy dBm customer for the past year with 2 separate visits to help service and tune up my DJ mixer console. I first heard about them as one of the only NYC-area shops recommended by the manufacturer (Rane) and during both visits the dBm team went above and beyond my expectations. Service and prices were less than I expected, and quality of work is exceptional–rare and refreshing to find in the music gear repair space. Highly recommend! Riley and the rest of the staff are absolute rock stars. Thank you!!

2018-09-07Lyndel Williams is the best tech I ever met. Had old gear and he repaired all my tube amps perfectly and made an amazing guitar pedal I use all the time. For the people writing these bad reviews they obviously have no idea what they are talking about. Especially when you are mentioning parking in NYC, which does not exist unless you pay for a parking lot. These are not professional people or audio files writing these reviews. They are bringing in junk they found on the street expecting it to work and sell on eBay maybe. I dont know. I looked for years for someone to repair some vintage tube amps and repair vintage keyboards and in 20 years of doing this have never found anyone as good as Lyndel. No he does not like to use the phone or even email. I guess he is old school. But hes an amazing tech.

2019-11-17Not good business practices. I had a QSC touchmix mixing board in for service and paid the $75 rush fee. They returned the board quickly but it still did not work, as I found out on the very next gig a few days later.. At my own expense I had to buy an new mixing board on the spot to work the next gig, and immediately returned the fixed board to dBm for them to correct their screw up. It took them over 3 weeks to RE-fix the board (not very rushed), and after promising me they would refund the rush charge, they never refunded it. They finally fixed the board, but the original rush fee remains non refunded, after being promised the refund.

2018-11-22I was recommended this place by a tech who said they do good work. I looked them up and found this page. I saw all the bad reviews and shared my concerns with the tech. Tech told me that they are good and that he thinks that its just cause people only write reviews when they are upset. Well i dont know about that but my experience echoes others. They took my unit in and charged me 150$ for testing that I didnt ask for before determining that they couldnt do the work I hired them to do. They should have figured that out before they took my money and wasted 4 months waiting!!!!!this place is the last audio tech place in NYC. They will be out of business soon. Not because the music industry is in a bad state (it is) but because they provide a shabby service and dont take responsiblity when they mess up.Avoid Avoid Avoid. Dont be like me and read these reviews and disregard them. These bad reviews echo my experiences.

2019-03-31Stay away from this place. Brought my amp is and it was working just fine, only issue was stand by LED not working. Used the amp at a show the day before without problems. Next I k is, they called me to let me know that all power tubes were blown out and that I owed them $450. They never called me before working on the amp. They just “fixed it” and asked for the money first. VERY DISHONEST.

2017-03-28My bass amp head has been sitting here for almost a year. Have yet to receive any updates via phone or email. It costs $125 even for them to just look at the damn thing. They dont deserve a single penny out of me but its too late, I cant even take my equipment home without paying them and Im most likely gonna end up taking it home unfixed. Definitely do not make the mistake of taking your equipment here. Do yourself a favor and just stick with the good ol guitar center. Hopefully this place will go out of business soon.

2018-11-10This place is the worst! Do not take your equipment here for repairs. I brought my SP1200 here for a channel recapping. They essentially charged me for testing it and gave it back to me saying there’s nothing wrong with it “it performed up to specification” worst of all, they scratched up the unit. I had given it to them in mint cosmetic condition and asked them to please handle with care so not to scratch it up. I ultimately wound up shipping it to Bruce Forat (Forat Electronics). He found it had 3 bad channels and fixed it properly. This place should be shut down. Save yourself money and headaches and go somewhere else.
