This place has restored my faith in medical humanity. Easily the nicest staff I’ve ever encountered, they make sure to always accommodate appointments to your schedule and never keep you waiting idly to see a dentist or hygienist. Dr. Handler is absolutely incredible and has improved my smile with carefully monitored Invisalign treatment (if only I could show you the drastic before and after photos within 2 months of treatment). She’s so skilled, friendly, and truly as gracious human being, that I always wish she were my primary physician for all things health. If you work/live near Wall Street, this is the only dental establishment I recommend. And even if you live in....Vancouver, it’s worth the trip.
Been going to DDS Group for a few years now for regular cleanings and checkups and enjoy the experience every office visit. The staff is quite nice and I cant say enough nice things about my hygienist, Olga. She is very knowledgeable and her bedside manner is top notch. Very concerned about your comfort level and treats you like you are her only patient. Two thumbs up. Highly recommended!
Brand new patient. Found office through guardian dental website and they were able to schedule me same day. One of the best, most pleasant, most efficient experiences I’ve had at a dentist’s office. The technician who did my x-rays was fast and courteous. The dentist, Dr. Romano, was exceptional. I felt heard and respected throughout the experience—from discussing my problem (chipped tooth), to reviewing care options, on to discussing insurance/procedure costs with me and the office manager. The fix she applied to take care of the pain and sensitivity until I can come in to have porcelain partial attached was fast, comfortable, and effective. Every part of the visit exceeded expectations.
I had to find a new dentist in an emergency, and I am so glad I happened to pick this one! The secretary on the phone was able to schedule me in right away. Dr. Romano explained what the problem was clearly and gave me all of my options, along with her honest recommendation of what to do. My insurance company is a huge pain usually, but this office was able to convince them to cover me successfully (not every dental or medical office will bother to do that for you!). I ended up needing to have my tooth removed the next day, and the surgeon was a funny guy and did a great job. Dr. Romano even checked in again to see how I was doing. The day after the tooth extraction the office called to see how I was feeling and to remind me of some aftercare instructions.Overall, Ive never been to a dental or medical office that has treated me so compassionately. Definitely go here.
I have been a patient for the past 18 years. Its always been a wonderful experience. Three weeks ago, Dr. Handler fitted me for invisalign. I cant believe how my teeth started to move int he first week. I love their personal attention to me as a patient but also what is best for my teeth. As an upper east sider, its well worth the train ride to see Dr. Handler and the staff at DDS.
I have been going to DDS group for many years for my semi-annual check-ups and cleanings. The experience has always been great. The staff is friendly and professional, making it a very pleasant experience (for a dentist visit). I had to get several cavities filled by Dr. Elliot Schreiber and I was very impressed by his skill and bedside manner. I would highly recommend this practice.
I am reviewing the oral surgeon, Dr. Fatehi. I had a consultation with Dr. Fatehi and during the entire appointment he was extremely rushed. He recommended a procedure and did not explain it to me at all - I saw him for about 5 minutes. The billing specialists said the procedure is not covered by my insurance and would cost $2,500 out of pocket. I went to Expert Dental for a second opinion and had a more thoughtful consultation. The surgeon recommended the same treatment, but used a procedure code covered by my insurance for an $80 copay. I am left to conclude that DDS Group knowingly used a code they knew insurance would not cover in order to increase their profits.
Absolutely love the Doctors and the entire team here :)Extremely professional and very kind !I have gotten my fillings, root canals with crown fittings , deep cleaning and every time have had a terrific experience .Full transparency into the treatment plan and they have patiently answered all of my questions .So glad to have found DDS group :)
I’ve been here about 4 times so far and have never waited more than 15 minutes for my appointments. That alone is amazing. But aside from that, the dental hygienists are great and very caring. I can’t speak on the surgeries, but this place is very professional, so much so that I live far from it but I’m still willing to travel for it. Highly recommend.
What a breath of fresh air! I recently moved to NY and was seeking emergency care, while hoping to find a new dentists office that I liked. After 2 bad experiences with other local offices, I couldnt believe how great my experience was at this office. All of the staff are friendly and communicative, wait time is short, service is prompt and done with a smile. Although I was a new patient, they treated me as if I had been coming there for years. And on top of that their prices are better than the other lousy offices I had been to! 5 Stars Plus!
Ive been coming to DDS Group for over 25 years (might be 30). We found Nilsa to be better with our children when cleaning their teeth than the pediatric dentists we went to in the village. They do not fear the dentist or cleanings at all. Dr. Handler has been taking care of us since Dr. Kahn retired (wonderful man) and we cannot say enough good things about her and her assistant (Cheryl). She really cares and shows it in everything she does for all 4 of us. The work she has done on our teeth has been thorough and as painless as these things can be.
I recently moved to Chandler, AZ and was fortunate enough to find a dentist and staff as good as Dr. Elliot Schreiber and his staff at DDS Group .“Wow, the work that was done on my teeth is some of the best I have seen in years”. That, is what my current dentist says about the work of DDS Group for my Implants, Caps, Etc. Yesterday I had my second visit with my new dentist in six months. And again he commented on the work. That says a lot.I have been a patient of Dr. Elliot Schreiber for many, many years. The work they do is the best. The staff is very professional and friendly. I Miss not going there.
Sad to leave this review. While its tempting, Im not going to go into a long story about the frequency and level of frustration Ive had in dealing with this office over the past few years. My frustrations lie completely with the administrative side (front desk and schedulers) for its persistent lack of concern for peoples time. Even worse, whenever Ive voiced any frustration over mishaps, miscommunication, or last minute scheduling changes, this groups default response has been to blame me. #OVERIT!Its unfortunate because I was a long-time patient (at least 12 years) and found every dentist and hygienist Ive worked with there to be lovely and talented. To name a few, Olga and Gigi are both sweet as can be and great hygienists. Ill miss them! In terms of the dentists Dr. Schreiber is wonderful and Dr. Romano, while I only worked with her once, was great and I regret that I wont see this team again.Im tired of running an obstacle course every time I try to schedule an appointment; and then being made to feel like Ive flaked out when I arrive in the office. While I respect the time of people that I work with, I wish they did too.
Amazing experience. Dr Eliot is thorough and hilarious. Nilsa, the hygienist, did an awesome job cleaning my mouth. I never really review doctors, but I felt like I had to share with people what a great job the whole staff did for me. I highly recommend to everyone with teeth.
Surgeons personality didnt quite match mine and it probably wouldve helped if he introduced himself (still dont know his name haha) BUT overall, he was nice AND did an amazing job extracting my wisdom teeth. Quick and clean. I also have my own wisdom teeth and jaw to thank :P The rest of the staff are always warm and friendly. They help make me feel relaxed and at home.
Bari Kaplan at DDS Associates is great. For the past 15 years, Ive looked forward to going to DDS Group for my semi-annual cleaning. Even after I started working in midtown, I kept coming back because the staff is friendly and takes care of all of the insurance billing like pros.
Not worth your time. I have been going for a long time, however, dealing with the administrative staff/front desk is such an issue that Ive decided to switch. While Gigi is a great hygienist and I dont like switching, takes days to get on the phone to find an appointment, once I found an appointment Ive been booked with the wrong hygienist (also with the wrong dentist two times and I dont go often). I missed an appointment and I got a $75 fee, because I wasted the hygienist time (which is understandable) however, when I wasted my time going to the wrong hygienist because the made a mistake I wasnt paid $75 for my time. They have also charged me extra fees that I have to fight to waive when they made a nightguard. I paid the full amount requested on the spot, but when I came back for something else they mentioned it was a higher amount (nothing disclosed at the beggining - perhaps I wouldnt have made it there if I knew). Very sketchy, bad service, hard to reach out. With so many dentist offices in Manhattan is not worth going.
Just started a new job downtown and was looking for the closest dentist to where I work. I made a 12 pm appt and they took me at 12:10! I couldnt believe it. My last dentist had me wait 2-3 hrs in his office. Dr Elliot Schreiber was really gentle. He kept asking me if I was feeling any pain. Office is clean and nice. Would recommend.
I have been very happy going to the DDS Group over the past 8 years. Dr. Handler and GiGi, her hygienist, are incredibly skilled, friendly, and honest. GiGi does an amazing job cleaning my teeth. She is so thorough, that I always come away with my smile looking noticeably whiter. I also find it very easy to schedule a time that works for me. I have no complaints!
Ive been a happy customer for over 20 years. Pleasant, knowledgeable, and efficient staff. State of the art offices and equipment. Crowns can be milled in the office while you wait and watch. Dr. Stanescu is very thoughtful and attentive, despite being in high demand due to his excellent skills and demeanor. Ive had excellent experiences with the other doctors, including a root canal that was surprisingly painless and easy.My only quibble is more with Americas pathetic but hopefully improving health care system; check and double check your insurance with the office beforehand to make sure they accept it, and that your procedure will be covered. Some lesser dental insurance companies (Freelancers Union & Guardian), have a 1-year waiting period on certain procedures; no fault of DDS group, but something to be careful about.
Dds group is my primary dentist group for last couple of years. They are very professional and specially i would recommend Jennifer. She is very detailed, professional, and courteous dentist. She explained everything clearly about the deep cleaning that I wasnt scared at all
Im so happy that I finally found my dentist! Olga really takes care of you. Shes not only sweet but does the most thorough cleaning Ive ever had. Also, I recently had an tooth issue and I was leaving for vacation the next day. I called Dr. Schrieber on the emergency number. He immediately got back to me, talked through the issue (even looked at a photo I texted him) and gave me peace of mind.Bottom line, these guys really care. Do yourself a favor and check them out.
So frustrated. What a waste of time. I had an 8.15a appointment and was seen at 8.55a. The consultation lasted no more than 10 minutes and it wasnt even helpful. Basically, after waiting for 40 min, I was told that I had to be referred to another dentist who could actually do the procedure. He didnt explain much, didnt even take a second look at the X-rays and just told me to go to the front desk to get references. Totally unprofessional and unhelpful - wouldnt bother making an appointment here.
Long time patient - DDS is great. Two weeks ago I developed a gum infection, was in terrible pain. My regular DDS dentist was on holiday but DDS got me in the next day to see Dr. Elliott Schreiber. He figured out the problem, took care of it, I was so grateful DDS has a large team that can handle these emergencies quickly.
The only dentist I go to. Had so many bad experiences in the past that I will travel from NJ to come here. I see Dr. Lisa who is explains everything to me before its done. Cant recommend her enough. Also had a tooth removed her by another doctor. He was also very professional and it all went smoothly. The wait time was over a month but he was a specialist, well worth the wait.
Consumers beware! You have lots of choices for dental care in lower Manhattan, dont go to this SKETCHY practice!Upon my first visit for a treatment I had asked for my copay information and cost before I saw the dentist. The tech deliberately waited until after I had my gums shot full of lidocaine to inform me. Incredibly unprofessional and disconcerting. If this is how they approach patient payment, imagine what else is transpiring?
Until I came to the US, I had never actively looked for a dentist based on reputation and quality of service. Im from the UK and dental care is free. For many years, I continued to use the family dentist on a very intermittent basis. I never thought about quality of service, If I had to, I would pretty much find any local dentist that would see me. But when I moved to New York I had to get familiar with the realities of working with health insurance. Now I had to actually choose a dentist. Not that I did any research. I just got onto the web-site and found a dentist close by that was covered by my provider, which happened to be DDS.It was convenient and they seemed to do the job. I didnt go there very often so I didnt think much about it.A few years later, my workplace moved to NJ but I kept the same dentist. After doing this for a few years, I thought I would select a dentist close to work for convenience, I mean why not? A dentist is just a dentist - they all do the same thing, right? My first selection in Hoboken seemed more or less ok. He capped a tooth for me that had been giving me trouble on and off for a few years, so I was quite pleased about. Later on I pulled the temporary cap out (my fault) and because I had not time to go back to the dentist, I super-glued it back in. When I went back to see him to get the permanent cap put in, I told him what had happened to forewarn him. He yelled out to his assistant Hey this guy super-glued his cap! He doesnt know it has cyanide in it! Not true of course. It was said in a pseudo humorous way, but it was kind of rude and his style was generally abrasive. I put up with it. Later on, I complained about the fact that one of my teeth know had a sharp point on it and my tongue kept seeking it out. His response was Theyre meant to be sharp - theyre teeth! He grudgingly ground down the edge and didnt do a very effective job.Id had enough and next time I needed a dentist, I changed to another dentist even more local to work. I went for a checkup and ended up with just being prescribed a cleaning. Normally your mouth feels rejuvenated after a cleaning but in this case I just felt gummed up with cleaning paste. I even commented at the time, that there was normally a lot more scraping and digging out plaque. She was like No, thats normal. So, after all these shenanigans, I returned to DDS with a new perspective. Going back there for the first time was like the return of the prodigal son in reverse. Stepping back into a small bustling office, full of energy and full of experts was so refreshing.I no longer had Dr Schneider Sr, but had Jr instead, but he seemed like a good conscientious dentist. The first thing he did was fix another problem tooth. I was surprised that he wanted to do a half-crown instead of a full cap. I was like Screw it, lets just replace the whole mess! When I asked him about it, he was quite surprised and didnt immediately come up with a good answer, but then he elucidated and explained that the general approach was conservation - the more you preserve, the more options you have for subsequent actions. And I thought That makes sense to me. I like that. The only thing I would fault them on was diagnosing my teeth grinding. I had wondered for a long time why the bottom of my front teeth were becoming transparent. I thought it was just wear-and-tear. It was only very recently that the hygienist casually said that I grind my teeth. I was very skeptical. Ive shared my bed with quite a few lovely ladies over the years and none of them ever suggested that I ground my teeth. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized that this must be the cause. I got fitted with a mouth-guard. Unfortunately, I didnt wear it consistently and during a period that I was under extreme stress at work, my teeth deteriorated rapidly and it became very clear how much damage I was doing. I just wished they had picked it up sooner, but they did pick it up and the others never would have.
Horrible Experience.I would implore anyone considering DDS DO NOT. I went to have a cavity fixed and I ended up with cuts in mouth, it was awful. To add insult to injury, DDS was so rude about payment, when I wanted to use my insurance, they told me it was not their responsibility to contact insurance and threatened to send me to collection agency if I didnt pay on the spot?!?!? I couldnt believe how rude they were and how pathetic of a business they run.DO NOT GO TO DDS.
Let me add to my review below. DDS also lied to CIgna about how much it reimbursed me for the periodontal procedure. Thus Cigna reimbursed me $500 less that I deserved. I have no issues with Cigna. The dishonesty is coming from DDS and its accounting. Again, for a terrific dental operation, it lacks integrity when it comes to billing. My experience at DDS had been very good until earlier this year. I was charged and paid $3000 for periodontal work and my insurance provider said I was only responsible for just under $300. I was refunded $700 by DDS. I complained to DDS and expected a further rebursement based on my insurer’s estimate of my responsibility. DDS not only refused to further reimburse me what I was owed, but lied to my insurer about the amount DDS actually reimbursed me. I fought this for 8 months and DDS refused to provide my insurer with details until only only recently. Fortunately, my insurer saw the injustice done to me and reimbursed me a good portion of what DDS owed me. Shame on DDS. Shame!
Beware that the reviews are either 1 star or 5 stars.. that should tell you something. This place is an absolute scam. Deep cleaning and fillings done for $2000 out of pocket even with insurance. I never had a problem with my insurance as i work for a respectable company. Beware of the hygenist(nilsa) as she will recommend you to buy an antibiotic called arestin costing you $90 per gum pocket. about just a quarter of my mouth is 14 pockets. so thats 14 x $90. Absolutely ridiculous. Nilsa without clarifying that shes just a hygenist will urge you and pressure you to get this done. Keep in mind she does this after giving you a ton of pain meds and after a painful deep cleaning. She will say it is ABSOLUTELY needed or you will get an infection and that you absolutely have to get it now. Then she will send in someone that can help you with payment. but that person will just offer you to finance it. Even on my way out they were trying to sell me Invisiline for 8K. Their fillings are also 3 times the price of normal filling. They will also automatically book an appointment for the next visit after your cleaning. And if you dont show up they will send you a bill of $70.I will never recommend or return to this place.
Stupid staff, never respond to request as promised until you keep calling and asking. Im always on time for the appointment and wait for the service. And one time it was heavily raining I cant really go outside and want to cancel the appointment, the staff said I have to come even if i got totally wet or will pay a $75 penalty. NO RESPECT TO PATIENTS AT ALL.
The best care ..fast appoit ..good customer service and love going to see Nilsa Rivera . She always have have soft music and make you feel so a easy . ...thank you nilsa for always making the time to see me and everyone the i send there to see you ..they love you .. .*d
After going through several not-so-good, even unethical dental offices in NYC, I was immensely grateful to find DDS Group and Dr. Lisa Handler. I get my routine cleaning done here and am also close to being done with Invisalign treatment under Dr. Handler’s care. I’m so happy with my current results. Dr. Handler and her team are kind and truly care about providing the best service to their patients. I recommend them to my friends and family all the time.

2022-04-13Dr. Lisa Handler and the DDS Group team are fantastic! I have been a client for many years and highly recommend them to anybody looking for dental care in NYC -- and, indeed, have recommended them to anybody I know is looking for dental care (my two daughters living in NYC have been happy clients for several years as well). The entire team is professional and friendly and they make the experience as pleasant as it can be -- starting with being warmly greeted at the reception desk and treated with kind care and attention until the visit is over. I am especially thrilled with the Invisalign treatment that I recently did under the supervision and care of Dr. Handler and her team -- which produced amazing results, giving me the best smile I have had in many, many years (like several decades!). Thanks to Dr. Handler and the whole DDS Group team!

2022-04-01I went here for a routine cleaning 6 months ago and got a call twice this week demanding payment or my bill will go to collections. I was told it was covered by both the office and my insurance company, and Michelle in their billing department told me my insurance company was “too slow” at processing the claim so it is now my responsibility. She refuses to send me a bill via mail so I have paper documentation to submit to my insurance for reimbursement and keeps calling/emailing without just mailing a paper form of the bill. It seems their business practices are completely maligned and unethical with what a healthcare provider should do. I am an NP and can’t imagine working for an office that runs their billing department this way. I just got a notice for a 6 month appointment I didn’t make and cancelled it as I will never be returning here. If you go be diligent about following up on your balances as this office prefers the patient to do that instead of mailing invoices. Horrible.

2022-02-16To keep your teeth in tip top shape, this is the place! Lisa Handler, DDS, has always provided the best in care and advise, and hygienist Nilsa does the best possible job of removing plaque and even your coffee stains. Absolutely no reservation giving them my top recommendation!

2022-03-21I would not recommend this office. i came in to the office about a tooth that was hurting me and Dr. Romano worked on the wrong one. I eneded up doing 2 root canals which one of them was un-necesary. They did not want to take ownership of their mistake or help the situation. I was told from dr. elliot that their malpractice insurance will get back to me and they never did. i called the office for a call back and yet no response back. BE WARE OF THIS OFFICE.

2020-11-03I have been a patient at DDS group for over 15 years and I have always been given great care. I find the care there to be honest, knowledgeable & efficient and never have to feel worried or stressed going there.Plus I find the practice to be conservative on treatments and not pushy upsellers which is the downside to many of the dentist offices I have gone to prior. The dentists, hygienists and office staff are all knowledgeable, kind and hardworking and are a great team,I would highly recommend this office.

2021-06-21Extremely unfair treatment of patients regarding billing... The office told me in advance of my appointment that my routine cleaning was covered by my insurance. At the end of my appointment, billing provided me with a receipt indicating that no balance was owed...then a month later contacted me stating that I owed $459 for the cleaning. This resulted in a huge waste of time acting as intermediary between insurance and the office over the next few months. My insurance company confirmed I was covered - the dental office submitted something wrong when billing insurance / has an internal lag in updating DMO rosters. After speaking with the office multiple times, I was under the impression that the issue was finally resolved after another month -- only to find out a few months later that the office reported a delinquent balance to the credit bureaus. After several additional calls with both insurance and the office, the office has not fixed the issue even though I was covered and refuses to let me speak with the dentist. Not sure what more a patient can do but trust a dental office when they tell them that theyre covered.

2018-09-16I have been a patient of DDS Group for six years. I am so glad I found this practice as they are so convenient and accommodating to my schedule (really busy due to work). Gigi is an excellent hygienist. She is very friendly and reassuring and my teeth always feel super clean after I leave. I have also had a fair amount of work done by Dr. Elliot. He has fixed some fillings that were improperly done by my by previous dentist. I was always getting food stuck there and now they are perfect. Thanks DDS Group for taking such good care of my teeth.

2017-09-29Had a great experience as a new patient with DDS Group! Went in for a regular cleaning with Olga, a hygienist. Very thorough with the teeth cleaning!! I dont think my teeth have ever been so clean! I then got recommended for a free consultation with the gum specialist. They are very gum focused here, something I had not experienced with my past smaller private practice dentists. The specialist recommended a scaling and root planning (deep gum cleaning). Since I was moving from New York the following week AND changing insurances I wanted to get it done right away after the consultation to get it over with. They were able to fit me in the day after for the gum deep cleaning appointment! It was not an emergency situation but they worked around my schedule, even as a new patient, which I really appreciated. Go DDS Group!

2018-10-25DDS Group has cured my phobia of dentists. I started going to them a little over a year ago and have needed a number of procedures (phobia + lack of dental insurance for years meant Id let some things go) and every single person there has been amazing. Dr. Handler and my hygienist Bari have been an all-star team. I genuinely look forward to my cleanings because I get to hang out with Bari. The whole office is friendly, helpful, and kind and I cant recommend them enough—ESPECIALLY if you hate dentists.

2020-01-25I have been going to Dr. Lisa Handler since I was a young girl and have been blessed to be able to come back to her as an adult and it has been the best dental experiences of my life! I recently completed my Invisalign treatment with her, and have seen a change in overall confidence and have never been happier with my smile! If you need any dental work done, especially Invisalign, make a appointment to see her because she will have you looking forward to your appointments.
