This KOA is not as bad as some people make it sound. I had no issues with looting, or getting robbed. It was a relaxing weekend, and I had a cool neighbor that was cool to chat with. The bad is there was a lot of trash laying around. I backed into my site, and there was litter. Not just there, but in the woods surrounding my site. Maybe cause its not peak season, they dont employ enough staff. But the grass was ridiculous. Get yourself a good landscaping mower. One thing that aggravated me was when checking out, and dropping off my gate pass I was asked if I knew how to get out of here. I said I was planning on taking 209 south to 84. Yup , youll be fine that way. Safe travels! Yea, well theres a bridge no big rig can pass under heading that way. I had to circle back around to 209 north, wasting 30 minutes and head back to 17. Partially my fault, I shouldve just listened to my rv gps.
I made reservations in December for a May 15th stop. I tried contacting these people in March to cancel the reservation but they were closed for the winter. I sent my first cancelation email and left voice mail.I did the same thing in April. In May I tried again after hearing nothing from my first 2 tries. I have found out they DO NOT REFUND ANY OF YOUR DEPOSIT NO MATTER WHEN YOU CANCEL.I use KOA on a regular basis and have never had this cancelation situation.DO MOT STAY AT THIS KOA.
KOA is a joke and their policies are ridiculous. Your Given 48 to cancel but no one answers the phone. Then they charge you full price regardless of how many calls you made or how long. We missed the cutoff time by 5 minutes and paid 175 for a weekend that would have been avoided if YOU ANSWERED THE PHONE
Changes are not good, you now have to make reservations through Campspot.com and today, 6/15/2022, the price discrepancy for a 30a full hookup back in site are $96/night with 12 spots available vs $66.71/night for 7/15/2022 with 13 spots available. THATS $30/night MORE to book a site next week!!! Lets call a spade a spade here and this is PRICE GOUGING! Sorry, I cant justify it. Let me know when your policies change, bye.
Their phone doesnt even ring. You get a voicemail to email for the fastest response but them no one emails you back after sending 3 emails. Its like they make an effort to not have to help their paying campers.Trying to reach someone for 3 days with no luck, just to see online that their cancellation policy is no refund. Who does no refunds at a KOA. This is horrible business and we will never book this location again. Cant even get a call back or email response. You call and just get mesaage.
This campsite is not as bad as the reviews. Its not your typical KOA either. The pool and the playground are the original fixtures from the heyday of the Catskills era and badly need updating and the bounce pillow could use some TLC. So it is lacking in stuff for the younger kids to do if that is why you are coming. The store is very low on inventory so bring whatever youll need, dont rely on picking up much there. However we enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Boroughs section right on the river and really enjoyed relaxing there as it was mainly familys who were all respectful and quiet. If you are adults just looking to relax this campsite is fine, but younger kids will be disappointed with the playground area. There looked to be an awesome community center right on the river that Id imagine would be amazing after covid restrictions lift, with a bit of elbow grease and investment this place could really be something. We did not use the bathrooms outside our camper so cant attest to them and we did not find the mini golf. They are obviously understaffed and run mainly by summer students but I found everyone friendly and helpful and during the booking process Max was wonderfully responsive and helpful via email.Overall lovely location but needs some solid investment to make it shine.P.S. Try the icecream. It was delicious!
Beautiful spots on the river. Although some arent as level as others. We used some wood on one side & it worked perfectly. Also if park is full I can see them(river spots)being a little tricky to back into with large rigs, many trees & rocks in bad spots. We had a great time & definitely will be back.
Let me start by saying something nice…this campground is in a great location, with a great layout, and has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, this is where the niceties end. It almost seems like this campground is purposely being allowed to deteriorate. It is simply not maintained; the roads are bad campsites and bathrooms are dirty, and the playground equipment is older than I am. Now problems occur, as they did for me, but it’s how they are handled that makes the difference. At most KOA’s, you call the number and someone comes to help you. In this campground’s case, this isn’t even possible. Their phone number doesn’t even give you an option to speak to a live person; it just refers you to email and their website. How this campground is allowed to call itself a KOA, let alone a KOA Holiday, escapes me completely.
This place used to be much cleaner and nicer some years ago. Each year it felt that it was going down the hill. This time, we stayed Sep 9-12 and then a week later, we couldn’t believe how that dirty and anti sanitary it was. We thought that during COVID times there should be strong regulations and the owners of this campground would be help responsible. I would NOT recommend this place until it passes all the proper inspections.
By far the worst campground we’ve ever visited. Filthy. Never once saw a staff person. The same trash that was in the bathroom and on the grounds when we arrived was still there 4 days later. The pool was gross with hair, band aids, and trash. Weeds and grass over grown. Every amenity was old and in disrepair. Absolutely zero care or pride in this place. On site hookups falling over. Exposed electrical lines. Sure table broken bench. Truly the absolute worst we’ve ever seen. And it’s unfortunate as it’s a great location. We visited sites in the area including the new Legoland. This should be a premier campground and sadly it’s clear no one cares. Weeds overgrown etc. Just a mess. And don’t even look in the showers.
Just dont do it. Unless youve never been camping and have very low expectations. This place is an overpriced, outdated, rundown, dirty excuse for a campground. We came here last year and were able to overlook alot due to the beauty of our riverfront campsite and the attentiveness of the staff. This was not the case this time. When we arrived we werent able to go to our site because the previous occupants still werent gone even tho it was after 3pm. While we waited I took my young children to the jumping pillow to play (the only other redeeming quality of this place) and was appalled by the amount of garbage and clothing scattered all over. When I brought it up to the staff I was told they hadnt had a chance to clean it up yet. The entire campground has trash scattered all over and over the week we were there they never bothered to clean up equipment or trash from an event that was there the previous week. If you are looking to come here because of pictures you saw on their website or descriptions of programs be prepared to be disappointed. The only safe and usable thing to entertain young children was the jumping pillow. All other playground equipment is either falling over, broken, or overgrown. Also as if the cost of your reservation isnt enough you will pay a ridiculous amount for anything you may need during your stay.. that is if you can even find a worker to help you or if they havent run out of wood or ice (which happened while we were there including on a Friday when many were checking in and needed to buy wood).Ive camped since I was a child and Ive never experienced a park that is this poorly run and maintained. There are many other parks closeby that are far cleaner, more beautiful, and affordable. This place has a lot of potential but the owners seem to have given up and are just collecting money instead of making improvements or hiring competent staff. The only reason Im giving this place 2 stars is for how beautiful site B30 is and for the jumping pillow.
We stayed at the Deerpark KOA to visit Legoland NY over the Labor Day weekend. The staff was friendly, but the facilities were dated, and some of the advertised features were totally missing. There were no scheduled activities, there was a minimum of 10 bundles of wood for delivery, and there was no trash pickup. The bounce pad was a hit with the kids, and the pool was usable but the tetherball court, outdoor movie theater, and volleyball court either didnt exist or were not usable. The playground is very dated and the blowup slides (shown on the campground map) did not exist. We met some great people and our kids had a good time, but we were disappointed that so many features were missing or not functional. This KOA could be very cool with some TLC.
First of all, VERY IMPORTANT not to follow GPS directions! This should be pointed out in big letters on the campgrounds website - do NOT take Exit 1 off I-84E if you have an RV. That will lead you to a low bridge that will take off the top of your rig. Follow the instructions on the campgrounds website and take Exit 4! Now, secondly, if you have a big rig as we do, prepare for a very steep, winding road first up and then down the mountain to get to the campground. This can be pretty hair-raising if another vehicle comes along in the opposite direction. We only stayed one night so I cant comment on the amenities at the campground. It was quiet and all the hookups worked. But we wont take our 36-foot Class A there again!
It has the overall feeling like it will be going up for sale soon ! This is not up to KOA standards by any means, it is a shame because of it beautiful location and set up along the river. The young staff there are friendly but its owners or whatever management in allowing the place go south should be replaced. Bathrooms are a mess and never cleaned and run down. The rec building along the river is nice but is shut down and hasnt been touched in a long time. The camp store has absolutely nothing in it, i mean nothing... you can buy overpriced wood and $5 coffee to go if that your last resort. Ive been to plenty of KOA and this is not even close to their level of accommodations, especially for the price you pay to stay here..
The people were nice and the landscape and River are beautiful. It is sad that the owners haven’t taken care of this beautiful location. All of the building facilities are dirty and need maintenance. The kid attractions are not working, no tetherball, no bounce mat, old metal playground. I paid $90 for one night, full hook up. This was the most expensive KOA that I stayed in and got the least service for my money. Other KOA had food deliveries, wood deliveries, and owners are readily available.
This campground shouldnt be a KOA. This place is disgusting and neglected. The staff, which is friendly, states that its because theyre understaffed, but there are a lot of things that are years of neglect. Half of the shower/bath rooms are not available. Those that are open are disgusting. The weeds are knee high throughout the campground, including around the rusty swing set. The pool is disgusting as well, and even stepped onto a glass liquor bottle in it (luckily not broken). I will never stay at this campground ever again, and I wouldnt recommend this place to anyone I know.
Rented a cabin which wasnt to clean. Fire pit was full so had to empty out some ashes ourselves to have a fire. They dont have half the stuff they advertised on their website. Cant fish because the lake was only like 2 inches deep. No hiking trails as was advertised. The pool isnt cleaned and was cloudy. The big pillow made my kids black after jumping on it. You would think it gets wiped down especially with covid. Their slide and swing set must be from the 80s because its metal. No blow up water slide as advertised. No movie nights as advertised.. very disappointing for spending $800.00 for 3 nights...... we left the park more to do things which costed more money for our family trip... I guess its good camping if you live in the area instead of 3 hours away.
We stayed at this KOA for the 4th of July weekend. I had read some of the bad reviews , but I thought we should give it a chance; I WAS WRONG. We stayed in the boat house (do not recommend). The cabin was not clean and worst of all we had to walk through a field of literal s***t to get to the cabin. The field of s***t leading to the cabin is also where the volleyball net and tiny basket ball court are located. Both areas were completely unusable because there was poop everywhere. I was appalled by the condition of the boathouse, the sites and the bathrooms. There were no planned activities, all though it was the 4th of July weekend. Not worth it at all. We stayed one night out of the three we had booked and got out of there. Don’t get me wrong, this campground has absolutely beautiful natural sites, but all it’s potential is going to waste due to the lack of maintenance and the unhelpful staff. Maybe we would have enjoyed our stay more if we had stayed at a tent site, but honestly, just save yourself the trouble. Go to a different KOA.
Where to begin?!? A lot of things that are advertised on their website arent here. The huge inflatable slides arent here anymore (the main reason we came) The huge jumping pad was slashed open this morning (police came too!). There were no movie nights despite staff telling us it was happening. The playground requires a current tetnus shot. The pool is very small. The activity center is now the store. The bathrooms arent horrible but many of them ended up being locked. Never saw any staff making rounds making sure everything was ok. Definitely not worth the $200 for a simple tent sight.
This property is not maintained and has the feeling of being vacant. It is also very remote and it is hard to get into NYC.The office was locked and empty most of the time we were there. One camper told us she had been waiting for an hour for someone to show up and help her.The bathrooms were dirty with dead insects everywhere, no paper towels and in one restroom there was no hand soap or hand soap dispenser. The grounds are neglected and overgrown. When we were able to find someone who worked there for help, they were defensive about the condition of the facility and the lack of services. Ironically, at $100 per night it was the most expensive KOA we have ever visited.
First day we were there, bouncy pit was slashed. Second night camp store was broken into. No kids events, no volleyball, bathrooms dirty. Staff rides around golf carts looking at phone and slumped in seat going 2 mph. No security at all. Store was always closed. How this is a KOA is beyond me. You better do your homework if you think of going here. I will never go back. One of the worst campsites I have ever been too. Read the reviews.
Beware this place. We had never stayed here before, and hadn’t read all the negative reviews before coming. They are all well earned. This campground is actually in a pretty awesome location. Right on the Neversink River, with a good sized fishing pond that’s fed by the river. That’s the only positive. It’s very poorly maintained. Many of the sites are on low ground with virtually no drainage, so if it rains, it’s a swampy mess, which is made worse when you consider that there’s very little pavement to be found in the entire campground. Now, that’s all bad enough, but what really makes this place the worst are the utilities. Our site had no water, so we had to share with the neighbor through a Y-connector. In addition, the water and sewer connections were at opposite ends of the site (about 50ft apart), so even with water and sewer hoses doubled up, I barely had enough to make it work. Now for the real doozy: their 50 amp receptacle FRIED OUR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM!!! We plugged in and soon had electrical smoke coming from our utility bay. We asked for their maintenance guy, who put the multimeter to it and said it was all good. Must be something wrong with our RV. The next morning, a friendly, electrical savvy neighbor put his multimeter to it. It was not all good. The neutral leg was not connected. In electrical parlance, that means: super f*cking bad. We decided to go home before our battery was fully depleted, and we would be stranded there with our jacks extended and no trailer brakes. We stopped by the office and asked them to refund our 2 remaining nights. The kid working the desk had no idea what to do, so he called the manager on the phone. She had no interest in speaking to us, and obviously didn’t care that their utilities had just done actual damage to our RV. She said to send an email to the address on the website. As noted by some of the other reviews, they don’t respond to emails. They don’t answer their phone. They’ve been completely incommunicado since we left. So now, I’m left with 2 options: 1) Cancel all my family’s summer travel plans and get on a months-long waiting list to get my RV fixed, or 2) Eat the cost of parts and hope that I can fix it myself. So, long story short, this place is a disgrace to the KOA brand. Steer clear of it.
This place is amazing. Exactly what we were looking for. The showers have a toilet and a sink which is awesome and private. There are no rvs near us we don’t feel like we are camping in a parking lot. It’s beautiful and scenic. We are looking forward to our next trip back. So much to see, the river, the ponds, the mountains. Best camp site ever.
I loved the cabin, didnt appreciate customer service, when I got there cabin was dirty, empty bottles under the futon, bed had dirty tissues and dust, shower curtain was filthy, no heat cabin was freezing and the kitchen sink was liking and toilet got clogged. When I said I loved the cabin I meant it, beside all those things the cabin was good for couples and children, I wont recommend for two or three couples cause for example my cabin had an old outdated futon that if you wanted only one child fit, at the loft was two twin mattress on the floor and the room was the only one private. When I called the next morning to ask about heat, the guy that answered only sent a kid to check for the heat and he gave us small heated. Was disappointed how the manage the situation. Would I go back?!? Not sure 😕🤔
I wish i could assign negative stars. This place is a total dump. The employees should star in zombie apocalypse. They have let this park get run down yet they charge an outrageous nightly amount. Large potholes and puddles. It’s large here so its easy to get lost yet they don’t provide parking assistance. Stay away from this place.
Absolutely beautiful campground. Looks like it is well established in a wooded area. We were passing thru for 1 night. Two ways into the campground - one has a fairly narrow, winding, slow drive thru hills, so be mindful. But it was a beautiful drive. Other approach was much easier. If communication is important to you, you may want to reconsider. They dont answer the phone nor return messages. As a customer, I am not needy, but dont like to be ignored - if I call and ask a question, it is common decency to return the call when a number is left and confirm you received the request. I was ready to pass on the campground, but it worked out.Grounds were beautiful and not manicured into oblivian. I enjoyed seeing native flora within our campsite. Our site was pull-thru and perfectly level just pulling in. Site was mostly broken up pavement crumbs in the camper and table areas. Not something Id want to camp for the week, but was fine for overnight. Sites were good sized and not on top of each other. Sewage hookup was elevated and required about 30 to connect.Lots of extras on the grounds - pool, jumping pillow, rock wall. Thoughtfully placed benches and saw platforms at the cabins. We would stay here again.
I went to various KOA, but it was the worst place. All employees are like part-time children, so when you ask for late check-out or rental, they always call to the owner. He didnt seem to know the system or the price. There are only one toilet available and I wait a long time when someone take a shower. And its terribly dirty!! When I tell the office about dirty things, He call the owner again. Other employees just ride their bikes. The playground was also rusty and shabby.Im sorry that the family I went with made me feel uncomfortable even though it was them first camp. I will tell my friends that l will never go and you should never go.
We got a river front full hook-up and it was a nice site. It was private with plenty shade and had a great view of the river. The back of the site was about 18 inches higher than the front so we had to jack up the front of the RV by that many inches to make it level. With my RV it worked out and it wasnt an inconvenience. Although the roads and groundskeeping could use some tlc we had a good time and made plenty use of the basketball and volleyball courts.
Date of stay Aug. 16-18, 2021.This place should be taken off the map! First sign of problems to come were with the inability to reach ANYONE by phone. Absolutely does not do any justice to KOA standards. We rented a Delux Cabin that was overpriced for what we got. There was NO Delux about it. The cabin was in major need of a thorough cleaning, no cookware, no tv, had to reset the brakers 4 times in 2 days, AC dirty, screens on screened in porch cut out, possible bed bugs in matress, the Cabin itself felt like it was going to come crashing down. I could immediately feel the unleveled floor the minute I stood at the entryway all the way through to the bathroom. Atleast there were 2 rolls of toilet paper and a previous persons clothes under the couch. Myself and other group paid $20 each to pick our spot next to each other but when we got there the Cabin picked was torn down! (Or went crashing down, hmm) We were not informed of any changes made to our rsvp. The playground was ancient and tiny. The pool water was comfortable but the pool needed a major vacuuming. There were NO daily activities set up for campers. You had to speak to someone through a Ring Doorbell. You cant control mother nature but the owners of this campground could drastically improve their business, Covid or not!our
A fair review is this place is dated. Not a whole heck of a lot for kids to do. The pool and swing set are from the golden era of the Catskills. The store is bare. The entire staff was under the age of 17.Quiet. Tidy. Had a good fire and a good laugh. Probably wont ever go back
The campground has trash all over. People left garage bags at their sites that has not been picked up. Mosquitos are Very badIf you use the fire pit and dont burn ALL the wood or pick it out of the pit they charge $10.00. Potholes in the roads. Sorry to say I will not come back here. And propane is $5.00 a gallon.
Really nice park, friendly staff good facilities clean restrooms. If traveling west dont use Google maps, especially if driving a large rig. We have a 28 foot class c, google got us off the interstate about 30 miles from the camp and put us on a narrow two lane road with no shoulders!
Im so sad to watch this place decline. Its a great location, but staff is awful, sites are not level and no KOA store thats worth anything. The scenery is beautiful with the Neversink River, but I cant see the last time they added new stone to the sites. We are staying in a great spot and no cable and while not tragic, there are smaller sites that have it. No sense. This is our 5th trip here and may very well be our last. They list themselves as a KOA Holiday.... This is barely a campground, let alone Holiday.I hope they get it together!!!! This place should be packed right now and barely 1/2 filled.Get it together and this could be a great place to be!!
I’m glad we just booked for one night because as you’ve read, this place is deserving of one star. Dirty and poorly maintained pool and bathrooms and the camp store just had candy. There was also a mixup on our reservation and for $107 we got a tiny patch of ground right on top of our neighbors. I also heard one man complaining that the bathrooms were perpetually locked and the girl at the desk couldn’t help him. Steer clear of this place!
This could be a terrific place, set along a beautiful river. However, maintenance seemed minimal. Trash and litter were seen on many sites and common areas. The young man at check in was not at all accommodating. He did not explain anything about the park or amenities, just gave us a brochure with a map and sent us on our way. We had to ask for an escort since the map was not clear. He drove us to the site and led us in backwards.
Kristen was very nice and informative about all our questions. Was very helpful. However it was the worst KOA I had been to. Many things were in disrepair, no toilet paper in an bathrooms that were filthy. There were weeds over a foot high in the cracks of the pool deck with every chair broke or wore out. Rust fence, know one ever in the office of unstocked shelves and people who could not gain entrence. Im sorry to report this but I felt cheated out of my money. No work was getting done.
Staff is super friendly especially Sherry in the camp store and registration office. Bathrooms were always clean and I never had to wait even on a Saturday night and they have family style bathrooms available for convenience. Amenities were fun especially the river tubing. They had extras I havent seen at other campgrounds like dino bikes and a jumping pillow. Tent sites were large and riverfront with lots of shade. The only thing is be prepared to bring extra cash for the amenities. Some things I would not expect to pay for (ex. Renting a basketball or horseshoes) costs extra around $5 to $10 a half hour. Overall we had a great time.
We camped here Memorial Day Weekend 2019. The tent sites are way too far from any restrooms to allow us to walk with a young child, so we had to drive every time we had to go. The restrooms were disgusting, some of the showers did not have curtains. Each bathroom had a shower and a toilet, which is a neat concept, but the floors were absolutely disgusting/you had to make sure your clothes werent on the floor when sitting to use the toilet. I think they were unprepared for how busy they would be over the holiday, and eventually brought in a trailer with more bathrooms/showers -- that ended up equally dirty/unusable. Quiet hours were not enforced our entire stay, which is brutal when youre traveling with a family. People were partying until past midnight. Even after we complained following the first night there was no improvement. Common areas/roadways were not cleaned/there was broken glass from other guests. The area itself was beautiful and the staff were nice, but the price was very high and we expected to at least have a similar experience to other KOAs we have visited. We stay at KOA to have clean bathrooms/showers, otherwise we may as well truly rough it out in the wilderness. Huge disappointment. We left early. Area has a lot of potential, but this campground needs some major TLC.
We just arrived and this is unlike any KOA experience we have ever had. Not a person in sight, they want you to use an app, and prices are higher than what weve paid for better accomodations and amenities at other parks. Very remote... This is the last stop on our road trip and Im sad we are not ending on a high note. When I inquirer about rentals I was directed to a different website - very curious if something is going on with their KOA franchise?!
This KOA is not maintained to the standard we are used to when staying at KOAs. Management was absent, and young staff is not knowlegeable enough to inform about basic needs in the area. There are recreational building near the river was closed and overall it feels that this KOA is getting just doing the bare minimum to stay open without taking much care of the site.
Disgusting! I just came back last night and was extremely disappointed. We rented 2 cabins (cottages with bathroom) and as soon as we got in we noticed the garbage was not taken out, the beds had stains, there was poop on the toilet and hair in the shower. Later at night we realized we had no hot water and we had to bathe our daughter with cold water. When my husband went the next day to tell the manager, the manager was not there but was told that he was going to be receiving a call no later than 9pm to fix the hot water issue at least. On Sunday during check out he told them again how he never got a call and how nothing was fixed, they told him the hot water was broken and they were working on it but the cabins around us had hot water expect for us. The staff kept giving us different information in regards to the amenities, the first lady at registration told us the kayak was only for kids not adults. But then the guy at activities told us it was only for adults. The website has all these other amenities listed that are not true. They charge for the water slide and jumping pillow. The pool was not clean, the water was almost green. Definitely not worth your money. We still made it the best we could and went to a waterfall and park that was about 30mins away. The walking trail that is mentioned in the website doesnt exist either. This is not the first time we go camping or to a KOA. We have gone camping multiple times and to the Delaware KOA a few of them and it was nothing like this. The place had poor management.
I would not recommend this Campground to anyone. It is overpriced and very run down. We paid $110.00 a night for a premium site and the cable didnt work. The office told us that these sites dont have cable, only regular sites have cable. Why pay extra for a premium site? Everything in this Campground is run down and old, including the camp store. This is one of worst KOAs I have ever stayed at.
My family and I has visited this campground many times in the past 20 years. Our last two visits have not been the greatest. This last visit seemed as if they where completely understaffed. During the time of our visit a majority of the bathrooms where locked. The ones that where open where filthy. We had a site very close to the restrooms and we never saw them get cleaned. The trash pick up did not come until we where breaking down and leaving. Tractor hay ride came by and was full we had a good number of children on this trip we thought the driver would have come back around so they could get a turn that did not happen. In the past the water slides where free. Now there is a fee. I personally like the location and layout of the campground but it would be hard for me to convince the family to return.
These guys are frauds. They state that reservations can be cancelled two weeks in advance but do not pick up phone, do not respond e-mails and we forms. When I filed a claim to credit card they even dated to claim that we paid on spot and used reservation, while we had to stay hone in Massachusetts. Just be aware.
This is an absolutely beautiful location! We reserved a tent site with water and electricity right next to the river, which didnt disappoint. However, the overall experience was a tad bit disappointing for us all - including the kids. This was our first camping trip of the season - it was Memorial Day weekend. The staff, mostly newly-hired teenagers were ill-informed, unable to answer basic questions, like the cost of bike rentals. They were very apologetic, and seemed to want to provide better service, but were not properly trained.Worse still, the waterslides were closed for the weekend, and no scheduled activities were planned - there wasnt even any tie dye!The website advertised a slew of activities - the primary reason we maintain our KOA membership. Perhaps weve just grown accustomed to engaging staff, who tend to remember our names and exude a contagious energy that we take home with us and last for days.A heads up that the grounds wouldnt be fully functional would have been nice - at the very least. Overall, the place seemed more like a glorified state park, without the perks we dish out the extra money for... the very reason we come back to KOA year after year.
When we arrived we was first greeted with no one in sight. It was a locked building with no one around. Strange. Then as we waited in our rv we see police and detectives come up to find out they were i investigating a burgarly there. So relunctly we stayed. My my children wanted to get on the bouncy pillow it was slashed...do not recommendhesitatelyswe
Decided to go camping Fourth of July weekend 2020, and was thrilled to see there were vacancies at the Deerpark KOA.Sadly, this KOA is one of the most rundown and dilapidated I have ever seen. The grounds are over grown and messy. The trees are in desperate need of pruning.1) The sewer pipe at my site was literally broken off and just set in the ground.2) They claim to offer cable television at an additional fee, but the cable wire was cut off at our site, therefore no cable.3) Arrived about 1/2 hour before check in time, and was charged a $5.00 early check in fee, even though half the park was empty. Which did not cause them any additional effort to get me into my site.I had stayed at this campground a few years ago, and it wasnt the mess it is now.I will stay at another campground in the area next time.
First impression was they needed to fix the pot holes in the road leading around the facilities. How much does it cost for a few tons of item 4? Once you get in and your camper is still hopefully in one piece, you get nice sized sites but they are not very well kept. We went on Memorial Day weekend and it didnt even look like the grass had been mowed. The garbage collection bin was a trailer parked in the middle of a field that you had to drive to. The water doesnt drain well anywhere and the campground was very wet, as all previously mentioned pot holes were now full of water and very muddy. The pool is about as big as youd expect for a backyard home-owner type with about 10 chairs set out. There is nothing for the kids to do unless they want to cram into a little pool. This place would have potential if theyd just invest some time/money into it. Sad to say but we will most definitely not be going back.
It appears from our experience and what our seasonal neighbor told us that they like to hold festivals here. Festivals are great but if you are looking for a relatively quiet experience with no more campers than a campgrounds sites should occupy, this is not the place. Additionally our neighbor told us this weekend paled in contrast to last. It was a tent city where you couldnt tell where one site ended and the other began. No adherence to publicized rules. Likely staff cannot keep up with overload of guests including under-attended restrooms, random porta potty setups, wet firewood, lots of noise past curfew, no enforcement of vehicle limits or bike helmet rules and generally poorly maintained facilities. While the guests were well mannered, there clearly were many, many more than the site capacity of the campground. I am wondering what the owners are doing with all the fees; clearly not investing in upkeep of the facility. One star for a decent-sized RV site.
We had an awesome weekend! The campground has lots of on site entertainment, the kids loved the huge bounce pillow, the blowup water slides, they went tubing down the riverWe found it to be very accommodating, we were there with a very large group and the staff were friendly and kindWe stayed in two Yurts , they were cool! I also loved that there were so many trees around us we enjoyed the shade . I would recommend this Koa, campsite for anyone with or without children. It’s a perfect getaway!! Thank you!!!
Not impressed at all with this place.Didnt feel like a KOA (if that is what you are expecting). The place looks like a RV storage...There was actually 4-5 stored RVs at the end of our row.The staff put us in a spot next to two other trailers when the entire place was pretty much empty. When we asked if we could change spot, they told us to wait and see if more people would come (only one other person came). The only two adult we saw running the place we not too friendly. And the rest of the staff were young teens. The kids running the place were speeding with their pickups in the campground (i even have them on video). It felt like a gathering of young teens (workers) who were hanging around the pool. The dog parks grass was long and seemed like no one ever took the time to take care of the area. There are some nicer more quiet camping spots in the close forest but it seemed filled with swamp and mosquitos. Even my dog wanted out of there asap.We quickly left the next day and went to a MUCH MUCH more inviting campground about 1h away.
This has to be one of the most run-down neglected koas weve ever stayed in. No one was there when we got there, they sent a young man to show us where to go. Never got any paperwork. we were extremely disappointed. And the drive in there is a piece of work havent been on a windy road like that in years. Would not recommend it to anybody!
We booked a spot here last minute to get out of all the COVID craziness on Long Island and our experience was great!! I spent time reading all the reviews on here and so glad we ignored all the negatives. When we got to the campsite we were greeted immediately from a friendly staff member and check in was extremely easy. Another member then escorted us to our site to make sure we found it and settle ok. All of the RV sites were freshly cut. The sites themselves were extremely spacious with a picnic table and fire pit. The grounds and scenery were beautiful. During covid all of the amenities were closed so I can’t make a review on anything beside the great staff and sites. We traveled with dogs and they enjoyed all the walking too. The river right there is an added bonus. Location is good we were able to drive to some nice parks for walks and sight seeing and close to Walmart, food stores etc if needed. I did notice too we weren’t bothered by any mosquitos. Staff drove around checking on people staying. The only complaint I can think of is there were fireworks in the distant which scared the dogs but obviously that is at no fault of the campgrounds. If you are looking for a nice ground for a breath of fresh air I would go here again. Please also note I am 6 months pregnant and couldn’t find anything to complain about!
Had a nice large site. Hookups are a bit wonky, at least ours was. Be sure to bring extenders for water, electrical and sewer as they were pretty far from the RV. Visited end of October so was very quiet and peaceful. Used verizon hotspot without any issues. Late check out is offered until 3pm for extra $.
Our group had a great time! Staff and people were very accommodating! We had a great time tubing down the river here. Only negatives would be that the grounds sometimes smelled like poop for some reason and the there were swarms of mosquitoes. But it’s a campground so what did I expect...
Stayed for a weekend 8/15-8/17 2014 in cabin KL03. When we arrived, Dee stopped by our campsite within a short time to greet us and offer assistance or answer any questions we may have. She was very thoughtful and warm hearted. Nice to see that kind of emphasis placed on customer service! Our cabin seemed very new and was quite spacious. Beds were comfortable and the cabin was clean when we arrived. The only concern my wife and I had is that there are no rails on the top bunks of the bunk beds. This could be an issue if a child or camper rolls over in their sleep and falls 5ft onto the floor. We strongly advise KOA to install rails on all top bunks( our friends cabin had no top rails either) for the obvious safety reasons. Staff was friendly and we fished and tubed the Neversink River which was a lot of fun, especially for the kids! The fire wood they sell is pine. Not very good for burning and burns up rapidly, requiring you to add wood often to keep a nice fire burning. At $50 a cart load, you go through this amount of wood in 2 nights! Using oak, maple, or ash would be much better as the fire would burn slower, hotter and last longer for the campers money!Overall, nice place, great cabin and campground, the river access is awesome and the people were very friendly! Four stars only because of the rails missing on the top bunks.
This review was during the reopen phase of Covid-19.Staff was extremely accommodating. Very friendly and customer focused.Upon my arrival to my provided site, a staff member stopped by using social distancing and noticed I had an issue leveling my trailer. She offered her time and wisdom to help us. She didn’t have to do that but did.Staff makes their rounds often to check on site, checking on the well being of their guest and doing it was friendly gestures (couldn’t see their smiles due to masks but their body language said it all).Overall, I like the scenery, love the staff and when things get make to normal (or new norm from Covid19) we’d like to use all the amenities this site has to offer.Had such a great experience that we’ve booked another stay for up coming week. = )
A great place to get away from the city for a weekend, but t is even better for an extended stay vacation. You (and family) will have a great time here. Your choice of tent, RV or cabin camping with and endless supply of activities. We stayed here many times in tents, and cabins. I highly recommend the waterfront sites. The view is amazing. There were only a couple of cons. The first, I never caught a single fish from that darn river....but I never really catch them anywhere else either. The second is you dont get your site number until you arrive, only the site type--which really isnt that big of a deal. So I say 5 out of 5 stars.
Spent a week-end in Aug2020. We went there because it was the only camping with availabilities... The reason being: $250 per night per cabin is clearly overrated! There was a leak of hot water in the shower, which I mentioned 3 times to the staff but they did not care at all... My conclusion is: only go if you really need to spend some time in a campground, otherwise: stay away!!!
The grounds were nice I had fun on the bouncy pillow. Loved tubing down the river. Tons of trees.. Stayed in a yurt was very cozy. My only complaint would be that the spacing between their sites is minimal and so there is very little privacy and noise could be heard through the tents.. our neighbors unfortunately were very loud throughout the night.
Great staff! As a frequent KOA camper, this one of the best stays we’ve had over the years. We arrive very late and Ryan encountered us driving thru campground and showed us where we were going. He made sure we comfortable in the Yurt. We’ve never stayed in Yurt or this campground before...and it was a hoot! (A lot of fun). Ryan even helped us get towels and other supplies we needed.Very clean and quiet...thanks again for a very nice place and staff.
We were all very excited to have somewhere to rest after our 9hr drive and when we arrived we walked into a dusty cabin with a ripped screen and filthy dirt covered floors. We just said oh well and kept going unpacking for the weekend, I went to put the sheets on the beds and there were spiderwebs, bugs, and holes in the wood near the ceilings and there were strange black spots on all of the beds. The air conditioner was plugged into the wall and set on the floor not even near the window and we couldnt even move it because it was extremely hot. The man eating ants attacked us all in our sleep (its been 3 days since the first bite and Im still itching to high heavens)so watch out for those inside and out! The bathrooms near our cabins were absolutely disgusting! Full of dead bugs, moths, gigantic spiders which looked at me like I was the next meal, flooded floors, mold in the showers, and no soap to wash my hands. There was no light outside of our cabin so it was inside with the ants or outside with all the bugs attacking you because they see your phone light. The lazy river intertube path was smelly and stagnant, the water slides were deflated, the pool deck was gross, nobody was around to do any of the activities advertised on the website. The entire place is filled with potholes so be careful driving in. If you would like to stay in a dirty place with fire hazards, man eating ants, bugs everywhere, and hardly any lights this is the place to be. Absolutely the worst KOA I have ever been to, my family loves to use KOA s to travel so it was very disappointing to see how run down this place was. When we said something the only reply we got was it hasnt been cleaned since winter and in my opinion one star isnt even suitable for this place.
There was one good thing about this park. It was the maintenance man named Dakota. He was very helpful. Otherwise a lousy KOA. I have stayed in KOAs from California to NY and this is the worst. Cable wouldnt work and no way to let the office know. Tried the website to get reservations and it would say contact camp for availability and price. Try to call and it would say must make reservations on the website.
Mixed experiences, we have our own Travel Trailer so the accommodations were fantastic. This KOA is in need of some TLC....a lot of TLC. It is on the expensive side, and most of the activities like the water slides, the bounce and the rock climbing wall are an additional cost. We were excited about the river and tubing, however they wanted us to buy tubes, and there was no organized tub service with a drop off, which is what we expected. Oh well. We will probably never return.
Terrible camping site . Very rundown.Nothing to do, besides campfireIve been there few years ago it was a much better place there was a store on the site, small cozy game room cabins were in a better shape. Now the whole place looks eerie and abandoned, cabins were covered in dust, beds were terrible (metal beds very wobbly and squeaky) barely had any sleep at all. Way overpriced. We payed two nights only stayed one and I wouldnt go back again even if it was free.
The place was a good 1 night stay as we where going to the Hershey KOA the next day. The place needs a little TLC like potholes, large holes that fill up with water in the grass, etc. The place is nice and the people there are... let’s say good at their job... they have a nice big field to play sports and relax, they have kayaking and canoes that you can use down the river. I’d give this a 3/5 if I didn’t see 2 police cars drive into the campground, hear foreign music blasting, a flooded breaker box that I hope wasn’t on, and potholes that could easily break tires and just be a pothole in general. That is my review I hope you could read it all and understand it, I would recommend this if you have a tent or if your only staying for a day to goto Hershey or anywhere else. This place is not a good place to stay for long. Bye!
Over the years, my family and I have gone comping at Deerpark KOA. We have made some beautiful memories I now have the pleasure to share this experience with my grandchildren. Deerpark KOA Camp site has changed over the years from the good, bad and now the UGLY. Several years ago, management installed new bathrooms which was a plus and great to take a hot shower. Now half of them were locked and the werent cleaned. No paper towel or soap available. Movie night used to be outside on a big screen serving popcorn. Over the past two years, it been a small screen with very little sound in the recreation room with other activities going on. There were no activities for the children, No itinerary of activities for the week or weekend. If there an itinerary, it wasnt offered. I am truly disappointed. I truly dont understand by the lack of interest from the owner(s) or even from the KOA Administration. Sorry but not sorry, my family and I WILL NOT be back and I will not recommend this site to anyone.
Poorly managed, old utilities, overpriced campground. The whole place needs to be renovated. Miniature golf course is falling apart (not worth paying the $2.00 they charge you to play in it!). Arcade rugs are disgusting, and machines are old, ceiling lights on arcade room were not working or missing. Swimming pool is too small for the size of the campground and it was crowded from the time we arrived until we left. There are two inflatable slides that are filthy. They use a water hose by hand to make them waterslides, not worth paying the $1.00 they charge you for each time you slide down! There are wires running underground that are coming up in some places, unsafe electrical exposed wires, a sewer pipe that seemed to have been broken for days and no signs or warning tape indicating caution. Garbage is not picked up on a timely manner. We took ours out at 10:00 am on Saturday morning and when we left on Sunday at about 9:00, it was still there! We stayed at a site next to the river, had a nice view and could have enjoyed it but the campground is poorly managed and instead of listening to the peaceful river flow sound, we were hearing the loud campers three sites down from ours. They were so loud, we had to call the campground host twice. Once at about 11:00pm and again at about midnight. (the campers next to us told us that the police was at the campground that night… and they were back the next day…) When I checked in, the lady there was very rude. She made me feel disrespected and unwelcomed with her approach. I don’t know what kind of people they deal with on a regular basis, but she made me feel as if she was trying to make sure we were all paying to stay and not sneaking in any unpaid guests. She had some purple wrist bands that they make all campers wear during their stay. She went to put it on my wrist and I told her “I can do it”, then she said in a rude and sarcastic voice, “NO YOU CAN’T!”, and then I said “well I don’t want it too tight, I’ll do it” and she replied, as she continued to put the wristband on my wrist, completely disregarding my request “ABSOLUTELY NOT!” and she showed me how she was leaving two fingers space so it wasn’t too tight, but at that point I was so shocked and annoyed that I just let her do whatever. Then she wanted me to have everyone else staying with me, to come in to get theirs placed on their wrists as well. When I refused to call them in, she just sent someone else to go outside and personally place their wristbands on them. After they made sure we all had our wristbands, and they had everyone’s names on paper, they guided us to our site. We were not given a map of the campground, were not told where the laundry room was or the times that it was open, we were not told if we could make a fire or where we could get firewood if we needed some, were not told at what time the store closes or a phone number to call if we needed to contact someone after hours, we were not told when quiet hours begin and end, we were not told any important information that campers sometimes need to hear or be reminded of, to ensure that all campers have a pleasant camping experience. Perhaps if this was done, we could have had more cooperation from our loud camping neighbors. Also, if you walk along the river by the tent sites, it is loud all day. Everyone blasts their music. As you walk along the river you go from one type of music to another… LOUD LOUD LOUD. (People camp here as if they were in their backyards…)
For starters, I read the reviews which were extremely poor, but decided to give this so called “KOA” the benefit of the doubt and booked a few sites for my siblings & I to have a nice memorial day weekend get together.. and well..Incident number one: The Bathrooms. They told me my sites were near their ‘newly renovated restrooms’, which for one, were non existent. And the closest bathrooms to our sites were on the other side of the property. The campground had these pop-up bathrooms on a trailer which I assumed would be accessible for us, so I go in there and there isn’t a shred of toilet paper in any of the stalls, they are disgusting, and someone left their crusty dirty towel in there. When I complained, they explained to me that there was a ‘huge festival with 2,000 people here we were really busy last weekend’ (Mind you this is the Thursday after that apparent big weekend) so your telling me the bathrooms haven’t been cleaned in a week. Nice. I spoke to staff and said they would get right on it. Well they didn’t, and just closed up the bathrooms so we would have to trek across the campground, which was equally as filthy, and had urine in the sink. Urine. The showers had freezing cold water and black mold.Incident 2: The staff. There had been no warning that there would be loud construction going on. Gigantic gravel trucks ripping by not stopping at the stop signs or having any regard for the few campers that were there. They were transporting stinky bathroom sewage mud and just dumped it off at the basket ball court so when you are trying to shoot some hoops you have to inhale the stench of sewage. They hire young teens to patrol the park who don’t know what is going on, also, may I add, at night you can’t find a single park ranger. Its like they are nocturnal. So when your neighboring campers build a small city with 10+ cars and loud horrendous music until 3 AM, no one will come and put it to an end. Someone on a golf cart zips by and almost creams my blind 5 year old niece. Doesn’t apologize, just simply says ‘What?!’ Like we had 3 heads each and zooms off. I go find someone to ask for the manager because now I am infuriated. I speak to a guy who says they will send the manager over to my site to speak to me about my concerns. He never did, and come to find out, HE was the manager! And said to me that they had another 2,000 people coming here and that the rain ruined everything last weekend so he couldn’t help me. Your telling me the rain pissed in the sink? The rain almost hit my niece? The rain used up all the toilet paper? Ok. Basically, the staff is extremely un-accommodating, careless, and suck at their jobs. Its pitiful. (Also there was no where close to 2,000 people here this weekend, and none of the blow up water slides were open to use like the facebook advertised). Since I expressed my concerns suddenly we were now a target and my niece and nephew were the only ones on the bounce pillow that got yelled at by the manager for not having socks on when there was barbaric, unsupervised, out of control BAREFOOT children throwing sand. I will not be coming back here, I couldn’t even get a refund, I’m going to let the world know about how terrible this campground is run and that this place should not call itself KOA because this place really gives the name a bad rep. Shame on you, I am absolutely mortified.
Nice park. We came during the Russian festival (not on purpose) It was packed, and loud. They cleaned up quickly after festival and park became much quieter. Trash was not picked up daily and piled up which is why only gave 4 stars. There is also a sign at the gate that says local police will ticket you if you are noisy. Employee told me it can get very loud during the summer.
Been coming here twice a year with Russian bard camps for almost 10 years. I’ve noticed that 2018 the management is not as good. This trip, the weekend of 9/22, most bathrooms are locked. Of the ones open, they are horrible. I complained. The manager lied to me and claimed the bathrooms were not intentionally locked. No soap, dirty water everywhere.
Very well laid out and not improperly loaded. Meaning people aren’t crammed on top of each other needlessly.Pool was clean and chlorinated. They had a bounce pad (tons of fun!) and bikes/trikes for rent. Some of the bathrooms could have been cleaner (some of the shower liners had mold on them). A little lax on proactive quiet hours enforcement. Plenty of hoopin and hollerin at nearby sites into the wee hours of the night.Good time overall.
Too tight - big rigs will definitely have problems. Not well maintained. The had a group of kids camping and they went on until 3am.The campground refunded our money and I still wont be back.No one ever addressed the problems or apologized - just emailed a credit. At least they knew there was a problem. The place has so much potential...
Campground is nice. We we visiting during the week so we had the place to ourselves. Wi-Fi was almost non existant. For over $80 per night, too expensive. Andrew (at the check in center) was a major help. The pool guy let us go in until 8:30 PM, which was a plus since we arrived late. We enjoyed tubing down the river. I would rate this as 3 1/2 stars.
There are pros and cons...first the pros..the campground is huge.. Lots to do for kids.. Great view of the river.. Workers i thought care ,Nancy, sherry, herb and i met a manager that was cleaning the pool that seemed to be a nice guy but look like he needed help managing the campground.. Garbage pick up was great..Now the cons... The pool was not cleaned every day and alot of campers were in the pool everyday .i was there for a week and the pool was cleaned only twice the hole week and was camping next to the pool. The younger staff needed more supervision and over seeing.. Bathrooms that were being used more werent being cleaned more often.. The owner should do something about this to fix the cons.. There more but you will have to find out for yourself. Other than that we had a good time.
Trash was not picked up daily. Animals regularly had it strewn all over camp sites. I took pictures of trash and was aggressively approached by someone from the office who stated, I know the trash has been there several days, but our help quit. What do you expect me to do? To his credit, after this unfriendly encounter, he did pick up all trash. Also the bath house was filthy and not heated (several nights below freezing). I realize it was after Labor day, but this campground reeks with neglect.
Me and my Girlfriend have been travelling the States and Canada for one month, finding our last stop to be this KOA campground. Despite it being the most expensive one we have been to, it was also the worst - let me tell you why.The Campsite:Sure, we wanted a unserviced campsite without water and electricity. We were not able to choose the site by our own and were assigned to the one furthest away of the bathrooms and it was the only one in the sun and not in the woods, even though all of the other campsites stayed empty during our stay. Our campsite was not properly marked (the number was missing) so we had no idea where it started or where it ended. Campsites were dirty, lots of branches and waste of previous campers lay around. Also there were no sinks to wash the dishes in, which means we had to wash them in the terrible bathrooms, which leads us to the next point. The bathrooms:Bathrooms consist of a toilet and a shower - both in the same room. That results in very moist and wet toilet visits or very stinky showers. Sometimes there was no soap. Most of the time it was really nasty and dirty even though they clean them once a day. And sometimes bathrooms had ugly bugs in them. The Staff:From the very beginning to the end the staff was terrible. Ill give you a small example. I wanted to dispose my little propane tank and had no idea where to turn to (since the campground had no garbage disposal whatsoever). When I asked them where I should dispose the propane they looked at me as if I came from another planet - just noticing that the propane tank was cute and stating that they wouldnt take it. Thats it. I was baffled and angry. The WI-FI:Wifi is not by any means a standard of a campground, but they advertised it on the website, so we expected proper Wifi. It was limited for one device only per site, and it kicked you out every 30 mins and you had to log in again. We had no signal on our site. They monitored the sites that you visit and said that they will stop any bigger download. It was terribly slow and kicked us out every few minutes. Also, you had to wear an armband so that they knew that you belonged to the campground. Who does that? Seriously, its not a festival, its a f***ing campground. You do not want to stay there, believe me. Save your dollars and find another campground elsewhere.
Where do i begin! Toilet paper rolls dont function in the... might have been cleaned a week ago bathrooms. Bring your own rolls. Heater only works in 1 bathroom of the 4 that were operational. You cannot access any of the amenities with out paying extra. Not even the pool! Vending machines were broken. Youre not allowed to use any firewood exfept to purchase theirs. So no fores for us....they charge 8 bucks for a tiny bundle. Wifi you get booted off every half hour..... then you gotta forget the network reconnect and re login. Drove us crazy. Youre trying to get something done..and you lose internet! Every hour reconnect would seem more resonable. What are we getting here for 50++ bucks a night? A nice big lot granted and some nice located sites...and thats about it im sorry to say.
Upon arrival after making reservations for a 28 unit, we shown to a sight that was CLEARLY too small!! We made the best of it as we we tired from a 7 hour drive. The campground is in rough shape to say the least! Grass not mowed/weedwhacked, bacthrooms/showers were cleaned once a day if that!! There had been some sort of Slovacian Festival that weekend, when they left it took the campground workers 2 whole days before the bags of garbage were picked up!! I was under the impression that in order to have/own a KOA, that certain standards are to be set, apparently not at this one! Please save your $ do not go here!
This was the worst campground we have ever stayed in.They really give KOA a bad name.It was so run down only 1 bathroom and shower (it was co-ed) Pot holes and mud holes so big you could really damage your vehicles and campers the cable was pulled out of the ground and cut off no wifi even though they tell you there is This place is a horrible dump with a high price tag.I have stayed in Koa all across the country this one is by far the worst
BEWARE: This KOA doesn’t adhere to KOA corporate policies. We unfortunately had to cancel our stay and despite KOA corporate’s timeline for cancellation this location will not refund our $$. Pretty sad during these times with so much uncertainty, this outfit chooses to take advantage and gouge us hundreds dollars! Again, we met KOA’s timeline!
It was a fun vacation for me and my dad. We stayed for 2 days and we enjoyed it. But there was some ups and downs. One of them was the television in the living room. It didn’t work even if I did auto scan for the channels. So I couldn’t watch tv. Another thing is the water temperature. If you want hot water it stays cold. It got to the point where I had to call a worker to come check it out. The cable kept on tripping so we got no hot water. After a while I got it running hot. But when I got in the shower it started turning cold again. But the rest was awesome. We went swimming, the trampoline, bike riding, fishing.
Campground needs some maintenance. B area not clearly labeled and if you drive past it in a big rig you cant get back in. Judging by the cable TV selections the manager is a trump supporter. The one big plus was someone was available to check on our dogs while we were out.
Had a great overnight stay, thank you! The park is absolutely beautiful and expansive with options for every kind of camping. Wide open green fields for groups, and private tree-shaded sites by the river. Incredible selection of recreational activities for all ages, indoor and outdoor, from horseshoes, volleyball, jumping pillow, playgrounds, inflatable water slides, bike rentals and more. Rustic cabins and deluxe cottages for glamping. Nestled in the mountains and close to lots of fishing. Well be back to explore the area. Highly recommended!
We camped here during the week. There where more geese present than campers. Poop and geese everywhere. Very difficult to miss the poop when walking or riding bikes. Many of the campsite had standing water from leaking water faucets. It is a beautiful campground, shame on you for such poor management.
Bad experience. Run down and no real mgmt on site. I always stay at KOA’s because of amenities and great customer service. Deer park is not one of those. Did not get what I paid $109 premium rate for. Refused a rate reduction to credit back to my card. Don’t stay there!
We went there from New York city, take route 17 to that place which avoids ghat/curvy roads. There were different cabin options available based on the price. Its highly recommended place for summer because there were many outdoor activities like hiking, biking etc. Our cabin is close to never sink river which makes it a beautiful place. There is a winery which is about 10 miles from there. It would have been a great experience if we went there in summer and if there is a good wifi. This camp ground closed for the season
Ok this place is humongous. We stayed in tent site area A which was closest to the nice pool, very clean and nice bathrooms. actually we loved the bathrooms because one of them was a family shower bathroom and all the bathrooms were very clean and well stocked. the playground was very nice with a huge bouncy castle slide and a bouncy pillow which was tons of fun. It really is a fishermans dream since you can fish at the neversink river right from your site or you can walk to it from any site. walking around was awesome because of the bridges that kept crossing over the pond, this place is huge. it has a very nice store, a big staff, nice pool, level sites that are bigger than most campgrounds. the tent sites are about 50x60 feet. yes i would stay there again and recommend it.
We recently stayed 4 nights at this campground and will never come back. When we pulled into our campsite there was garbage all over the place. Since it was $60 a night I had them come clean it before we unpacked. The workers that came apologized and said that the kid that is suppose to clean it is lazy. During the day the circuit breaker kept tripping and we were only running an air conditioner. The bathrooms were gross. There is a sign in the bathrooms that say they check them hourly to make sure they are clean..what a joke! They were cleaned once in the time we were there. Only one of the bathrooms had paper towels to dry your hands. Additionally there needs to be speed bumps at the entrance as cars were driving way too fast. We also had campers stop and ask us where they check in because what should be the check in building is not. The roads had a lot of potholes and many mud pits in the campsites that needed to be filled in. The mud pits made it mosquito heaven. The grounds had not been trimmed for what looked like the whole summer. Someone from corporate KOA needs to visit this place.
This place should NOT be called KOA. Thebathrooms are disgusting! Cold shower every time I showered plus the tiles are coming up. NOONE was tending to the pool and it was not only disgusting and looked like it has never been cleaned people were running and jumping and playing loud inappropriate musician a portable speaker! The water slides they advertise on the site cost $$$ In addition to what you pay for your night rental. The website says you can rent tubes and that is false they only sell Walmart tubes for $18 a piece!! I ordered some food at the snack bar and they were cash only so I had to go walk across the campground to the store and pay there which they charged me tax and shouldnt have on FOOD and then I had to walk the paid receipt back across to the snack bar for their records! People were speeding like crazy on the dirt roads and were not stopped and no one seemed to care! Someone will care when a child Is killed and its too late!! I can say I Will NEVER return here nor recommend it!! They only reason I gave this one star is its the only way I could post this review one star is not deserved!
With the exception of the booking by phone this place was outstanding huge camp sites and very accommodating. Lots of activities to keep the kids busy. Booking was only difficult because I had a hard time hearing then on the phone but once there they where absolutely the most pleasant people I have met in a long time. Will definitely be going back.
My family stayed here for Memorial weekend and I was very disappointed with the bathroom cleanliness. Also, my kids were looking forward to all the activities that are usually scheduled for long weekends. However , there was nothing planned, not even the water slides were open. Im not sure that I would go back.
We (a group of 8 church families) have camped here for about 8 yr.s . It was known as The American Family campground prior and a KOA the last 3 years. As The American Family. Campground they offered a Sat. Night dinner and a Monday morning breakfast (Memorial day wknd and labor day wknd ). Both were niece and overall worth the cost. Now as a KOA it cost more , no meals , and each year has gotten worse. Septic leak at bathroom sites , last year moved one of our party out of their site for someone else. This year we had made reservations for memorial day. Found out last week we dont have reservations.....they put or deposits on labor day . After arguing we are combined on sites 2 families each. Looking to go elsewhere next time. All this even after the so called owner here promised they would do right after first yr. Bye bye..poorly run.
Popular destination for many of the areas Russian music festivals. Great area for camping. Shallow river so cant really swim in it, but great for tubing or just taking a quick dip in the summer. Also the fields have frisbee golf nets if you wanted to try your luck at it.
Huge Campground with tons of space for events. Offers amenities many smaller KOAs dont such as moon bounce, play ground, and gold sleuicing (you buy a little bag of dirt and run it through their sleuice or pan it to retrieve the trinkets placed in the dirt). If you come the river is fishable. Just be sure to call ahead because there are several huge Russian events that book up the place for a couple weeks a year and brings thousands to the park.Decent camp ground and it was convenient located near our family we are visiting.
I have never been to a bad campsite in KOA since this one this weekend at Deer Park New York one party that’s out of control loud music it’s 11:00pm and there’s no respect to other capers here it’s a shame the staff doesn’t care or afraid to say something the playground for the kids is out of old never updated the pool really bad omg overall this is my last time coming here KOA you guys need to step it up or I need a refund I wasn’t happy at all Thousands Trails does it better I’m thinking giving you my KOA membership because it’s not fair to me and other campers need to sleep like this smh
BE CAREFUL WITH THIS PLACE My cousins and I made a reservation for TWO SITES TOGETHER for end of August unfortunately we can make it so for the past 2 weeks weve been sending emails to cancel the reservation which we okay with paying the penalty which is $10 per site now they refusing to reimburse us all the money $1,500 its ridiculous what a rip off the person on the phone is rude its not honest give the misinformation I will never recommend this place to nobody what rip off especially with the way things are now in days every single penny counts giving me the running around they cannot honor the policy the cancellation policy according to the cancellation policies you have up to 48 hours before you arrival Day to cancel and you have to pay a $10 fee for penalty is very sad that people are taking advantage of others just for being greedy and not honor the policies that they have
Stayed here last weekend 7/14 – 7/16. If an overpriced camp site with loud rap music blasting all day and night, kids partying on the next camp site until 4:30 in the morning ten feet from you so your family can’t sleep. Empty beer cans and bottles on the trails in the morning, unsupervised kids throwing rocks in the river by you where you are trying to relax, a camp store with no real food and wet wood for sale. If you enjoy all of these things this is the place for you
My Wife and stayed here for six weeks starting Feb 4,2014. The staff was very helpful and professional.michelle, Punkin, Roger and Link were almost like family by the end of our visit. they kept us plowed out, trash picked up, and restrooms cleaned and even our waterlines they helped with...even during the really cold we had this winter. staff goes out of there way to make our stay a pleasant one. even thoughmanagement needs to do abit of remodel they made the best of it...WAY TO GO. after all its a campground not the Hilton. Beautiful area even in the winter. we would recommend to anyone...thanks GUYS. the woodsons
Noisy... Rough RV sitesReserved for one night while driving thru the area. Site is out of level by 6 inches from one side to the other. Soft muddy soil where you park. Pedestal is kinda beat up. Unknown types of wires that are cut sticking out the ground. There was a loose board near the pedestal that I stepped on and one of my legs went into a hole that is about 18 inches deep. For a KOA I would think that it would be maintained a bit better.
My family has been been camping at KOA for a long time, we have stayed from very expensive to modest ones and this is the first time that we have had to pick up and leave. The campground is in terrible shape, staff is not friendly or welcoming at all, bathrooms are disgusting ( truck stop bathrooms are in better shape) information on activities and proximity to NYC on website is absolutely miss leading, we paid for a water and electric site and there was no water, when we complained they connected a hose to another site to give us water causing an inconvenience to the other campers, upon registration we never received a map or information, we had to go back an inquire about WiFi password, we ended up checking out less than 4 hrs after checking in and spending money on a hotel reservation in queens NYC after driving for 4 days from MN yo get there. Do yourself a favor and use your money somewhere else, its a shame they call themselves a KOA. Big shoutout to grand island KOA in Niagara Falls they know how to do a job well done!
This year there was a power outage during the July 4th weekend, so camp offered a refund to those who wanted to leave; we took the refund, but money was refunded to wrong credit card. Good luck trying to find someone who was able to fix the issue! still havent got money back. Poor customer service.
Well we went there last year 2014 first time with our 34 foot RV . We stopped at the office and got our site which was close to the river not bad .the Place was big the store was nice the staff was very helpful , There was lots of thing for kids to do the staff provided activities in the center field . The water was nice for fishing but didnt catch anything maybe wrong spot ? But looking forward to go again .
I was disappointed in the pool it needed to be cleaned and vacuumed, playground area looked from the 80s the basketball court was overgrown, with weeds, kayaks looked like they havent been used for years and also the cabin wasnt cleaned we found clothes from previous campers, we stayed at alot of places before and we were very disappointed with this one I wouldnt recommend this place
Absolutely horrible. Overpriced and then you get nickel and dimed for everything but the pool. Not enough staff to keep the kids activities open all weekend. What staff they do have are rude and/or dont speak a word of English. If you complain, they threaten to kick you out. Never again. I will be contacting KOA headquarters about this place.
Check in monday night, trash everywhere from weekender! Overpriced $65 for a single person . At that price, i would imagine they would have removed the trash from previous camper!!!Bathroom!!! Well lets not talk about it! It worth a 1 star overallI shouls had read previous review before.Am glad i am here only for one night!
What a mistake!!!!!! Call before arriving .said i would like a site this was easy to get on and need wifi. no problem they said. when I arrived they put me on a site that was very hard to back into. Across the road was a group of 14 or people in tents that had ever in of ground covered with vehicles right up to the road making it very difficult to back my 19 trailer in between a large oak tree and the electric supply. Came in on Friday and assumed the many empty easy park sites were already taken. big surprise Saturday morning there were 30 or more sites they could have put me on that would have been park and much quieter. My Iphone that works most places had 0 signal. went to the office because there was no info on check in papers. Yes we have FREE wifi they said. but forgot to ever mention that they kick you off every half hr and make you log back in. WHAT A PAIN IN A. Great place for small children. but nothing much for adults. Plus nothing much to see in the area . I almost forgot there are 2 way to get in 1 off of 209. there other a god awful dark twisting turning road with guard rails that is very steep in places. DONT GO THAT WAY!!!!WELL THAT AS MUCH AS iM GOING TO SAY. YOU SHOULD GET THE PICTURE BY NOW.
Extremely disappointed in this KOA CAMPSITE. this is our last visit here. When we arrived the price given to us when we confirm was jacked up by $90. Bathrooms were disgusting and were not cleaned all weeklong. On top of it half the restrooms were closed. All the activity are poorly maintained and managed. This place needs to close.
Caution!!! If you are traveling with a tall rig, travelers beware. We followed our gps and got off exit 1 in NY and it put us into bridges that were 9 and 124. Follow the directions in the KOA directory. As for the staff, they were very pleasant and helpful. The campground is nicely laid out and the sites are spacious. The pool was clean but closes at 8 which was kind of disappointing. The store was fairly equipped. The bathrooms on the other hand, left ALOT to be desired. The first one I went in had black mold, the second one I went in had no toilet seat, the third one I tried was out of order the forth one I tried, the water barely trickled out of the shower head and there was no shower curtain. My last option seemed to be the best one which had water that actually sprayed out of the head, the toilet was intac but the shower curtain was ripped and very thin. All of them had cracked or missing tile. There is weak cellphone service in the area and the wifi kept kicking you off and very slow. I feel at $90 a night this KOA was fairly pricey for what it had to offer and for the upkeep that needed to be done.
As far Im concerned I will never ever go back there. Customer service was good thats why I gave them two stars. Nothing else was worth the nightly fee that they charged. Extortion comes to mind. But after driving way out in the country, arriving late in the day, and circumventing the 9 foot 6 inch tunnel my GPS tried to send me through, I just paid the price for the muddy, potholed space.
I have been coming here for about 5 yrs this yr has gone down hill Im here now and no power bathrooms have been dirty every day sense I been here. Garbage laying around the park all week and not cleaned up . Beer bottles all around pool and beer caps in pool. Tried charging me 40.00 a hr hour for 2 bikes
A high racist environment it was the worst experience Ive ever went through . This place is disgusting point blank it needs to be investigated on hate crime activities going on there. Black people were not welcomed there and they made sure to advertise it from the kids to the grown ups to the staff 👎👎👎👎
Went there with family for mother’s day weekend and it was a nightmare hearing young white people shouting to my family you are a disgrace and embarrassment for this society just because we are Hispanic and black, and worse a grown man beat up a young boy to the point the ambulance had to get him for him to get stitches cause he was bleeding from his head. Why why why this hate and why teach your kids to hate
Racist racist racist to the fullest.... even the police is racist .... NEVER AGAIN RACIST RACIST EVERYONE THERE IS RACIST RACIST THEY LET A GROWN ASS WHITE MAN HURT MY 17 YEAR OLD SON WHO IS DARK SKIN AND WHO ENDED UP WITH STAPES IN HIS HEAD!!! THE POLICE DID NOTHING!!!!! THIS WILL GO PUBLIC. CANT BELIEVE HOW RACIST TO THE POINT OUR WORD DIDNT MEAN NOTHING..... RACIST RACIST RACIST RACIST RACIST

2022-05-17We went there for Cabin camping during Mid of May 2022. That time they do not have many kids activity open as they open after memorial day. Cabin was not cleaned properly. Restrooms were not cleaned properly and hot water was not coming for shower. I had to inform service desk employee to take care those things. There were ducks poop everywhere near kids play ground area. So, it was not safe for kids to use play area like swing, slide etc. We have to be careful with kids. As their site mention only way to contact them is via email and no phone number provided. Though, rustic cabin we stayed was good only thing it was not cleaned properly. Staff is friendly and helpful.

2022-05-31Great campground right on the neversink River. They offer tent an RV sights along with cabins, yurts and tiny houses! Lots to do for the kids. Fishing, pool, river tubing, playground, rock climbing wall, bike and kayak rental and a super bounce air pillow. The camp store had a good stock of things you would need along with fun souvenirs, snack bar and friendly staff. My family had an amazing time, we really enjoyed our time and will be back. The only recommendation I could make is update toilet and shower facilities.

2022-06-18Well first of all the only good thing was level ground. Bad stuff all the water like ponds and creek all green algae. Pool closed for a broken ladder. Grass at sight was mid calf to knee high. Bathrooms gross. Tiles falling off and dirty to high heavens. Dog park the fence was broken so dogs could not run free. Picnic tables all warped. Was so disappointed we now know why no longer a KOA.

2022-06-30Dont have high expectations of the amenities. It seems like in its heyday it was thriving but has been left to deteriorate. There was evidence of upgrades. Site are flat and shady so that was a plus. It was a nice place to stop and sleep for 2 nights while we visited nearby towns.

2022-05-30Was not happy with this Koa. Not very well maintained. The grass was past my ankles at our site they weed whacked once we arrived around the fire pit the only kid friendly play area for kids was a bounce pillow. There was no play grounds for toddlers at all. The only time there was a adult on premises was when we were checking out. And the bathrooms were not very clean had some mold on the inside. Pictures that they show on the KOA site is very deceiving. The store didn’t have anything if you forgot supplies. They didn’t even have milk or any camping supplies. Thank god the gas station down the road had camping supplies. Not likely to recommend or return to this KOA.

2022-06-27This campground was formerly affiliated with KOA, and is no longer. I suspect that’s because they weren’t maintaining very high standards. The bathrooms were unkept and didn’t look like they’d been cleaned all season. When my wife mentioned this to the staff, they said “well you are camping”. For the prices they charge I expected much better.

2022-04-26Great day trip on the Never Sink River. The managers were both very nice and helpful. We found a bald eagle nest, guided by a local homeowner. Overall a nice place, very large with lots of variety for stays. Needs sone updating.

2022-05-30May 2022, poorly maintained. Lots of overgrown grass. Site was covered in leaves that looked like they had been there for 2 years. Wi-Fi was horrible. Electric kept blowing a fuse. Public bathrooms were filthy and disgusting. Took two days for them to replace toilet paper. Areas around river overgrown and water was very mossy in sections. Extremely small pool and old equipment. No use of pavilion or any camping activities. Pavilion is run down, as well as overgrowth and covered with leave piles. The place has the potential to be really nice but first needs a major cleaning and updating.

2022-04-25Would not recommend Deerpark/New York City NW KOA - absolutely horrible customer service. Does not answer phone or email, had to contact through corporate KOA to even receive a “canned” response.Unlike 99% of all other KOAs who are fantastic, they do not refund your money if you choose to cancel after booking. We booked two nights (one down, one back) and changed our route for the end of May; tried to contact ASAP to cancel and they refuse to refund as it’s their policy. Warning to all!! Can’t imagine if this is the customer service prior to staying, what it would be like in person.

2022-05-31As someone who goes camping to a different KOA each year this is by far the worst campsite to get in touch with.I haven’t been able to book a stay. After reading everyone’s review it makes perfect sense now.The KOA app suggests calling the campsite number to book a reservation but when you call the number there is literally no one that answers the phone.I emailed them as suggested on their automated phone message and 48 hours later I still have no response via email. After 3 voicemails and an email I surely will not be booking here. I can’t imagine what kind of customer service awaits.
