Excellent park with so much to do especially in the summer and Flow Jam on Monday nights. I love the rose garden and Shakespeare in the Park, and well a whole lot more but its such a shame the highway cuts into the park. Something really needs to be done about that, its time for change. Also, PLEASE PUT WAY MORE BATHROOMS AROUND THE PARK GEEZ PEOPLE ITS ABSURD THIS HAS TO BE ASKED
Having lived in N.Buffalo during my high school years, Delaware Park was one of my favorite places to go. Its a beautiful park to run, jog, walk, people watch, bike, roller blade, or even have a picnic. Theres also a golf course, two small parks, an area to play basketball, soccer, and several areas for tennis too. You can even hear the animals at the zoo and see a few as well!My girls and I Pokémon hunt here whenever we are in the area and love hanging out by the cherry blossom trees. The park is kept up nicely, the trees are absolutely beautiful in the spring.People in the park are always courteous of others and often friendly. The parking is a bit rough, so if you can walk, bike, etc, I highly recommend this.Give the park a visit, you wont be disappointed!
Lovely park, people looking to walk, run, bike, rollerskate, board, golf, play basketball, hit the exercise park, play tennis, play with their dogs in the park, get a free view of the bison enclosure of the Buffalo Zoo, lay out a blanket to enjoy the sunshine, or just sit on a bench to watch the birds will find a very well-kept & clean paved road with an inner circle gravel path, both leading to a path across the Scajaquada heading to the pedestrian path that takes you to Hoyt Lake. About 1 mile all the way round the park with plenty of challenging hills & inclines. I bike this way to work several times a week, and always enjoy the way. Lots of pokestops and gyms along the way! Happy trails! 🌳🌲☀️
Love running in this park , however why are there no bathroom facilities available anywhere ?!!! The main restroom area is locked , the one Porta potty that was by the yogurt / ice cream stand was removed ! Seriously how is one supposed to enjoy any decent amount of time here when you have to worry about if you need to use a restroom ???
It is a very nice large open park with lots of places and playgrounds. People can play golf here. There are multiple basketball courts. The Buffalo zoo is also nearby. I visited Delaware park in March, which as you can see is not the liveliest time to visit it. The grass and trees were all golden color leaves and not much greenery as you see from other photos on maps. Better time to visit this park would be in summer or fall when the greenery is back and place looks more lively. There are no water bodies on this place, I dont know why many other people have included photos of it in their reviews, I was misguided by that.
Went here to fly a drone, and had a fabulous time! The only way this could be better is the landscaping. It looked a tad sloppy, but Im sure its due to the time of year. Plenty of people using this as a running spot, and going out on the water in boats. Will come again for sure!
Love biking, running, and golfing at Delaware park. I ride my road bike an average of 35 miles every day and love working out at Delaware park. I love golfing and play several times each week. The coarse is very well maintained and but golf coarse workers can be a little bit rude and disrespectful. Over time they have gotten worse and have truly gotten pretty bad. Every worker at the starter booth have been disrespectful to my friends and I and i wouldn’t recommend playing here too often. Other than that the park is great to go to with family. The zoo is right next to the park and you can see some of the animal exhibits. Beautiful sensory and good place to chill
I was married in Delaware Park, a little over 7 years ago,and we loved the spot we picked. We were under the stone bridge, with just a few close family and friends. There was no one else around and we felt like we were in our own little world for those few moments. There are so many quiet and secluded spots for walks and moments of reflection. Its a great area of taking walks/runs, walking dogs, bird watching, or just sitting in the shade and relaxing.
An absolutely fantastic park to take a stroll or take in a beautiful view of the lake, gorgeous sunsets, or the excellent playground for children. It is also our favourite place to visit on summer nights to take in a play on the hill at Shakespeare in Delaware Park. Always a fabulous place to visit!
Delaware Park is and always will be the best place to go for a walk, run, bike ride, playing catch with your kids, or just hanging out in the summer reading a good book. Ive been going to Delaware Park for 37 years! I love this Park! Always brings back good memories I had with my Father. I took my Son there to play catch or to fly a kite! I will always go to Delaware Park. I cant wait for the summer! ☀️⚾🏀🏏⛳🏌️♀️🥅⚽🌲🏃♀️🏃♂️😎 Lost some trees after that big wind storm last month. Very sad. Those trees were really old🙁🌲🌳🐿️ GO HAVE FUN AT DELAWARE PART THIS SUMMER!! I know I cant wait! 😁😁😄😄
I love Delaware Park, I go to the side near the lake to hike everyday with my children. My 3 year old rides her bike the whole trail even up and down the gravel trails. It would be more helpful if they would make it more smooth for children with bikes. We do in all enjoy this park, although they do need inspect their playground better. I witnessed the swing break on a little girl and this probably couldve been avoided if they were properly inspected.
Actually this review is about the Buffalo zoo. If you want a great walk in the park, that would be enough. Our favourites always include tigers, lions and giraffes. This time the reptile house was best. All the animals were awake and moving. That made it easy for the 4 year old to find and enjoy. The volunteer in the playroom kept asking great questions and offering educational, fun answers. Which animal has the longest tail, tongue...The polar bear and sea lion were most entertaning.
Lives up to the reputation as the main beautiful green space in Buffalo City area. Modeled after NYCs Central Park, it is an expansive park with lots of great greenery, walking and biking trails, soccer and golf lands, Hoyt Lake with canoeing during Summer, and in close walking distance of the restaurants and shops of Elmwood Village.
Interweaving foot paths through moss-covered old stone tunnels, large playground for the kids, a walk around or peddle-boat ride on Hoyt Lake... a hammock tied between two trees enjoying the sounds of nature.. a dog romping free. A Shakespeare performance over the summer. We chose Delaware Park as the site for our outdoor wedding ceremony for all of the beauty that it is.And, it is. 🤗
Great park just for a little walking or need a quite spot. I love reading books here and listening to the birds. Great for my children just to play where I can see them. Very nice to have a park so close to our house. And feel safe while enjoying the park. And if we do get bored we can walk across the street to the Buffalo zoo and have a fantastic outing.
Went to Delaware park for a concert and to take a scenic walk around. Both were great, especially since live music has not been much of a thing in life for the past year and a half! The park is beautiful and it is a fun time to use the paddle boats in the lake. I’d recommend checking it out, what do you have to lose?!
Hello world Delaware Park was the most amazing Park to walk with the family. The scenery, the miles, the time with family and the smell was all worth the Walk. I rate this park a five star one thing I do ask for is for the part commissioner to install new bathroom facilities as the bathroom facilities that is located at the park are not in good condition. This park is a park for family children to enjoy and we should not have to go all the way home in case of a bathroom emergency. Getting in shape cause for a lot of water drinkage and while drinking water cause for a lot of bathroom trips so getting the facilities in the bathroom more useful will be awesome. Thank you and have a beautiful blessed day. ❤️
Delaware Park hosts many events that are awesome in Buffalo! I ran a 5k Saturday morning in support of a local non-profit and attended Shakespeare in the Park for The Tempest Sunday night. My husband and I attend both productions every season and last night was the most entertaining thus far.
Delaware Park is a huge multipurpose park. You have basketball courts, tennis courts, a section for soccer, a area also for practicing your golf swing, as well as a track for cycling or running. People also come here for events such as Shakespeare in the park, and exercising classes. The park is adjacent to the Buffalo zoo. So as you can see you can spend quite alot of time here. Well worth the visit here.
It was very nice! We rode the flamingo paddle boats and the two running the operation were so nice and accommodating! Will definitely be back! We were disappointed that the Shakespeare stage was completely gone. My granddaughters were hoping to do a tic tok video! No worries! I do hope in the future it is started back up again! Its a good time to watch area theatre performances!
Amazing establishment The park is awesome, it would get 5 stars but the playgrounds dont have ada accessibility options for children and adults with physical disabilities, and its 2021! Time upgrade the park equipment! It needs to be swings and paved walkways that let ppl with disabilities swing and push others.
No complaints here at all. A great place to run and start any exercise. If you make your way over to the lake, there is fishing and people run RC boats. I myself ran a boat I made one sunny afternoon after a nice run, which made for a wonderful afternoon. If you want to get outside for a day; go to the park
Smooth enough for rollerblading, and enough room for walking and biking all casually at the same time. There is a lane line that protects the walkers and slower for traffic which is a nice visual for everyone to be aware of others. Some can successfully run & sprint, but likely during the day with the least foot traffic.
The parks historic design is still appreciated despite the late History of dividing it up. Adjacent to the art gallery and historic museum making it a wedding photography Mecca. Japenese garden, tennis courts, golf, basketball courts, paracourse, paddle boats, paved areas for cycling and roller blading and more. Perhaps they will fix up the restrooms and get to 5 stars.
This is an absolutely beautiful place to take a walk and people watch. There are a lot of dogs so be mindful of that if you dont like them. People were picnicking and had hammocks up to relax and read. They have boats you can rent and the Swan ones are super cool. Kid friendly!!!
Well maintained, very spacious, and a little bit of wilderness in the heart of the city. There are a couple reforestation areas that are specifically for nature to do its thing, and plenty of groomed areas for people to coexist nearby.Though events may be postponed for COVID-19, this is definitely a place you can come to enjoy your own 6ft radius of peace within chaos.
This park is a jewel of the Olmstead vision in the City of Buffalo. It has so many parts that it’s hard to describe in a review, but what I enjoy most is finding all the hidden trails that connect its components in spite of the atrocious highway the State built right thru it. Walk, run, skate, bicycle, tenis, soccer, etc. A bit of everything. And the zoo on its east end is a treat.
We went to the zoo, the grandchildren had a blast showing us everything they knew about the animals. The facility is very much family oriented by focusing everything for the eyes of the below 3 foot tall crowd while not forgetting the parents and grandparents need to see things on their level. Id recommend if you are looking for an inexpensive family outing, go here and enjoy your day.
A very large park, designed by Olmsted back in the day when that was the thing to do. Its very beautiful and is adjacent to a couple of buffalos finest museums. If you havent gone to Shakespeare in the park here, you someday should, but also good for a stroll, golf, tennis, or many other recreational activities. You can even rent a paddle boat!
Beautiful park with a rose garden, pavilion, rental boats, lake with a path around for bikes and walking either way its a wonderful nature trail. Get out of the city bring a picnic lunch did I mention the childrens playground and stone bridge and Shakespeare in the park all summer. Love it.
I can only vouch for the parts I have been In. I walked Ring Road a few weeks ago. I thought it was very nice. I did see one Restroom about halfway around. No other ones.I did enjoy the sculpture of the deer. Maybe more Items of Interest to walkers would be niceI have been In the Great Meadow as well. Also very nice. I cant vouch for the golf course nor Shakespeare Hill. Never been there. Hot Lake is really nice. Especially to Jog or walk around or to Just sit and enjoy the weather.
One of the many gems of the city and well worth a visit. I am lucky enough to live in walking/biking distance. The park itself is huge, with Delaware Ave & the 198 cutting through, but there are pedestrian bridges linking them. There are playgrounds, basketball courts, tennis courts, Hoyt Lake, Marcy Casino, the Rose Garden, Runsey Woods- seriously, a gem!!
We come here all the time. Walks around the pond by the Albright Knox, sledding down the hill in the winter, riding bikes around the loop by the zoo in the summertime, Shakespeare in the park, bringing our frisbee golf set up or giant soccer ball. Weve had many memories made here and will continue to do so.
This is a fairly big park in downtown buffalo. The zoo is in the premises. During the winter it is easy to reach but hard to navigate. But its splendid in the summer and allows bikes walking trails dog trails and gentle cruising. Check out the woods near the Hoyt Lake which is a popular scenic walkway
Im a dog walker and I walk in Delaware Park often. We love it! Sometimes we walk at night, the paths that are going away from Hoyt Lake are not well lit. Delaware Park is so vast and some areas are better lit than others. My suggestion is to bring a friend with you besides your four legged buddies, no matter where you walk, day or night. Its always safer in numbers. We like looking at some of the great homes in the area.

2022-06-10The park is well kept, and is a beautiful sight. There is plenty to do, so the area can be enjoyed by all - it is really close to the Buffalo Zoo (Zoo is actually IN the park). There are a lot of events held here during the warmer months - especially runs, corportate gatherings, etc. There are facilities for tennis, golf, basketball, and a few things in between. Possibly one of the best inner city parks that Ive seen in the country!

2022-06-13Great park to walk your dog, run, ride your bicycle, play golf, tennis or soccer. The loop around the great lawn is 3 km (1.86 miles) and fairly flat. Buffalo Zoo is located in the Northeastern corner of the park. A juice bar on the Northwestern side. Further West in the park is the beautiful Japanese Garden and Hoyt Lake.

2022-06-28Best place you want to be!! Such a diverse group of music and people. There is Salsa lessons for $10 from 6:30 pm til 9 pm. There is also a band that plays. There is African dance with drums and its great for the soul. Stretching and feel the beat of the drums. It is a great place to be and socialize with a diverse group of people. Highly recommend it.

2022-06-28Delaware Park is one of the most beautiful in Buffalo - theres a huge loop where people tend to walk their dogs, go for a run, or just go for a stroll. There are tennis courts, golfing, and the zoo is right next door. If you walk for a bit, you can get to the lake. I definitely recommend checking it out, especially in the summer - try the flamingo boats!

2022-05-22Delaware Park is a beautiful area in Buffalo with great spots to walk, boats on the lake and just enjoying a unique part of Buffalo. The different gardens, random trails through the trees and various areas to stop in have a different feel that shows a different side to the city. Good for pictures and just overall relaxing and enjoying one of our awesome parks.
