Its an Ok place. Spent less than hour there. Make sure you bring a check or money order with you (the fee is $10 per document). The guys at the front desk are helpful. The old lady who screams Next! hates her job and lets everyone know that. Other than that, the whole experience is not very Earth shattering.
People was nice. The security guy at the front desk, he is really friendly. Once arrive ask what I am going to do, and tells me where I can get the money order.Lot of people, but at least I did what I need ..!!Instend to give money away, with those sites on internet, one of those ask me $ 160 for each paper, the was insane. !!!!!..Thanks God, I made everything by myself, and save a bunch of money ...!!
First off, this place is a joke. I’ve seen this place run all year long and almost every single time is the same experience. Long waiting times. You’d be lucky if you get your documents in 15 minutes. Other times you would have to wait up to 3 to 4 hours. At most, you would have to come back the next day to get your documents. The office is small and there’s barely any people working in the office. Only ONE, I repeat, only one person is in charge of the front desk to receive your paperwork. It would be ideal if it was at least two or three people at the front desk. But since this is not the case, the line starts to increase out into the main lobby. There’s people laying on the floor exhausted over the wait. People complaining on how things are run. I’ve been coming here for the past 4 years due to work related documents and nothing positive has changed. The only thing that’s been changed was the hours. Usually the hours is 9 am to 3:30 pm. They would rand not change it without notice either 2 pm or 2:30. Not very reliable when trying to get documents done. Some of the staff are very rude to everyone. If you get something wrong even if it’s the smallest mistake, you would get yelled at. No need for that. For some English is not their first language therefore help is needed. This place is government run joke. And there should be some serious changes. Avoid the bathrooms at all cost. The smell is horrendous! Here’s a few tips:Make sure you have your check or money order ready. Each apostille is $10.They don’t accept cash.Make sure you have a front cover letter filled out. They can be found by the security desk.Make sure you have documents authenticated prior to coming to the office.
I used to all apostilles in Albany. Albany changed their policy and only do them in five business days. So i went to this place TWICE. I have since stopped doing apostilles. The wait times were ridiculous and I had no idea they dont accept cash. The first time I had to go all over Manhattan looking for a place to get a money order. The second time the wait was almost 3 hours. Havent been back since and dont ever plan on going back.

2021-12-14How do you get an appointment here if it is only allowed for those people travelling within 2 weeks? There used to be walk-in appts here before the pandemic. A lot of offices are open in NY. Tell me why the NY Dept of State dont allow walk-ins and only accepts drop-offs. I went to the front clerk. He is only assigned to receive drop-offs or mail. If you ask him about questions about your documents, the front clerk will probably give you the incorrect information. I know every location is understaffed, but the fact that it takes about a month to get your one single document back is a concern. It is already 2021. USPS has been fully open to the public. Broadway is open. Isnt one of the purpose of getting fully vaccinated is to open up NY public offices to the public? There are hundreds of testing sites in NYC as well. I do not understand why this office isnt fully open yet.

2020-10-08Too bad 0 stars is not an option. Rude staff at this location as well as on the phone. They wont listen or help. I was reading the procedure stated on their website that would say to call them for an appointment and their response was to go to the site for an appointment. When asking for clarification they just hung up. When request for help at the location everyone who arrived was violently yelled at by the security guard, even people with a baby carriage. Everyone was calmly asking for information. This situation was shameful.

2021-07-23Phones of the hook all day for weeks..website instructions or protocols not followed. Email response extremely delayed, no name in signature. Seems the training includes being rude, as there is no accountability. Anything to avoid doing their job. Nyc governmental service is none existing. Eveything is blamed on covid. Answering a phone call, poses no threat to anyone. Yet, employees still getting paid, while the public is being ignored. 311 is no good if the transfers go to unhooked phones. Making complaints to the Mayor office ( no phone # either) is a joke, nobody cares. Very frustrating!. Behold nyc.

2021-05-13What a joke ! their phones do not work or indicate you that you have to have an appointment to go to 123 Williams street. Once you get there, they tell you you need an appointment. Good luck trying to get one over the phone. Just mail whatever you need to Albany and hope they return it before 2022

2020-11-25Called, waiting time was 1h, so I requested a call-back. Call back was from a strange caller ID (International Missing Heir Finder), my phone rang once, I didnt have time to pick up. They didnt have the courtesy to try calling back. I called back several times but the lines were saturated. I have a very urgent matter so this is frustrating.

2021-09-28First experience was long wait but it got done. Waiting on second as the office is not open to walk-ins for inexplicable reasons that are indefensible.

2021-05-13As of today (May 2021), there is no walk-in service. You have to get an appointment.I went there for my appointment and the staff was very nice. I gave my documents and waited 20 minutes to get the apostille.
