I ordered Thiebu Yapp Lunch, it’s exotic rice topped with onion sauce and what it looks like a steamed lamb, the lamb was succulent, the rice has a nice flavor when you mix it with that onion mixture. It would’ve gotten 5 stars if not their less than average delivery service, they mixed up my order and they had to cook it again, so I ended up receiving the food 2 hours later in was first ordered. So we have:* 5 stars for food* 3 stars for delivery ( 2 hours and wasn’t during weekend )
I’ve been going to this restaurant since it opened years ago. I never was completely happy with their service but their food is decent. The debe is good. I’m writing this review because the last year they have made changes to their fataya order that are disturbing. For once the order comes with four fatayas. Two weeks ago they changed the fatayas to three for $13. And today I bought the same order and it came only with two fatayas. I spoke to the clerk and he said that next time he will give me three. He said that there is new management and that they decided to make two bigger fatayas instead of three. When I ordered the fatayas they didn’t tell me the change until I seen the order myself. It’s disrespectful and wrong. I will not be returning there. I just wanted to use this platform to speak my mind and warn othersOf the instability of the place and the rudeness.
Feel cheated that I did not get bread and butter like some of the other tables.i feel like they are a little rude to Americans.Restroom - could be cleaner it was trash everywhereServer- she only came to take order bring food and give us check.Food- was very goodLamb- good serving size like 4 piecesWait time for seating - no wait time on a Saturday nightWait time for food- 30-40 mins. Food is served hot and made to orderPrices are fair since you get so much food that you can shareDrinks-can sodas
It was not busy, more than half empty, but the 2 women working did not great us even though one was just standing there and when my husband asked if we can sit at one of the empty tables they didnt respond. When we finally sat no one came to take order for more than 15 minutes and she was not friendly, didnt understand anything we asked for even when saying exactly how its listed on the menu and she even walked away mid-order. My husband got up and asked her to come back. Then the 3 things I tried to order they didnt even have. The 2 women werent helping anyone and the one especially moved slower than I cant even describe. We waited more than 30 minutes and no sign of food except the next table that came in after us were served the same appetizer we had ordered. Since were not from the neighborhood I googled restaurants nearby and called the restaurant across the street to ask if there was a wait. We left and went to that restaurant which was almost full yet we were greeted and seated immediately, our order taken promptly with great friendliness and we had our hot appetizers at our table in less than 15 minutes. I always loved Des Ambassadors brunch before when we visit from Pennsylvania, but sadly we will not be going back.
I decided to come here on my bday because my girlfriend and I wanted to try African/French food.It was relatively empty when we arrived which usually is not a good sign to me personally but we decided to stay. We were served bread with a delicious buttery spread of some sort. I order the lamb with rice and it came with a gravy on the side. I was not a fan of the gravy but other than that, my dish was delicious. I forgot what my gf ordered but she hated what she got. They were kind enough to offer her a replacement dish but she declined. I think she was just turned off at that point but they were still nice enough to reduce the cost of her meal by 50%.i love excellent customer service; willing to go above and beyond!
While the food is decent, the host and server was very rude and disrespectful upon entering, and continue to be rude throughout the visit. The host spoke only with one member of the of party of 5 people in their native language, meanwhile ignoring other people in the group and not listening us when make an order or addressing our concerns.
The International Maffe is delicious and used to come here all the time but today the woman serving us decided she wasnt going to serve us so told us there were no vegetables. At all. And sent us back out into the rain to find food. Maybe I should have come for lunch when the guy who is there is much more generous and willing to allow international diners in the door. Wish someone had warned me that I would not be welcome for dinner.
Patisserie des Ambassades is a brilliant patisserie with fresh and delectable pastries. It is also a thoroughly enjoyable local restaurant with west african staples (jollof rice, attieke), as well as vegetarian options of more classic west african fare, french classics with a halal twist (croque madame with smoked turkey) and American classics like burgers. The patisserie is counter service (on the left) and the restaurant is off to the right. The service at the restaurant is fairly relaxed- that will never chase you out, but each step in the service process can take some time, so if you are going for table service be prepared that some time will pass. No wine/beer.
I was so excited to try this African restaurant, but I was very disappointed with the customer service, so the review is mostly for the customer service. The food was ok, I ordered the Dibi Lamb which was very tender and came with an amazing sauce but the person I went with ordered fish and vermicelli which was just ok. The fish didn’t have much flavor and the vermicelli was not fresh. Now on to the customer service! So the young man who served us did not seem to really care about us at all. He put all of his attention on the table of 5/6 gentlemen who ordered a bunch of food. I understand that he expected a great tip from them but it is not ok to onlyFill their glasses of water and then skip our table. I drink a lot of water with dinner and only received one refill- because I asked. My glass remained empty for the remainder of the night. He went over to the tableOf men many times to refill their pitchers. This was unacceptable to me, everyone should be checked on. We were overlooked and seemed to be peasants. While the food was ok I will not go back.
I came here to for a family party. My niece who is a young Senegalese American girl was turning 14 years old on Dec 14th 2019.We had djolof rice in Harlem NY. Note we are from Djolof where the rice initially was created from and it was so cool to get to experience in amazing NYC.Even more amazing i used to go to les embassades in Dakar Senegal as a teen and i am so happy my nieces and us can experience the same thing in NYC.We had salads, thiebo djeune ( djolof rice) and desert and she made a birthday wish that was a secret lol.The stuff was friendly and relatively entertaining and attentive to my many demands lol...It s so cool because in Senegal its rude to be sooo demanding but in NYC its ok to ask exactly how you want it and when i ordered something a special way and it didnt come they discounted that item even when i didnt request the discount. Great customer service.
Its with a sad heart that I write the next review.I was there from the opening day as I used to live next door but it didnt matter after I move an he away I still drove there for baguettes but this last time might have been my last time everything has changed including the smiles and the great baguettes nothing taste the same and the attitude of the workers is as tasteless as the goods they sale.
I never ever leave reviews for restaurants but I had the most amazing experience here. My server was so kind and attentive; as a Senegalese American I can confirm that the food is authentic... it tasted like home. This is the best Senegalese restaurant in the city. Will likely become a regular
Great authentic Senegalese cuisine, small portions with kinda reasonable prices and awesome service. The pastry bakery is also pretty darn good. This joint is by far the best when it comes to authentic Senegalese food in the city of New York. I have been a frequent connoisseur of ever since they opened a couple of years back and have waited years to review them as it is a gem I wanted to keep to my greedy self.I hardly give 4 stars and when I do... it means all the stars aligned each time I frequented a location. Ive always had the most amazingly excellent experience at Les Ambassades. Kudos to the owner who has always kept things real and all the staff that work here, hats off to you ALL and keep up the good work.
We asked if they had indoor dining, hot day 90 degrees. Man said yes. He seemed very agitated when answering, (red flag). He let us look at the menu and when we ordered, said they do not have it. Only 5 dishes were available out of the entire menu. Then when I asked about one of the dishes, he was upset when I couldnt understand him. I will not return....
I love this place. Its a chill environment and I almost always get the same thing every time because its amazing. The International Maffe right now is my favorite dish. I cant get enough. Im giving it a 4 out of 5 because the last time I went I was inspired to try something new and I didnt care for it. But thats no ones fault but mine. The staff is professional and efficient.
This place is very pleasant and delightful. The Creme Brûlée and the Tarts are absolutely mouth watering. Shameful I had to eat them before boarding because you cannot take it on board. The ginger and hibiscus juice are fresh and extremely tasty. I can’t wait to visit again. If you’re in the area, you must stop in. You won’t be disappointed. 5⭐️ and 3 ❤️
Always reliable...reliably good food and reliably slow. Ive been coming for about 10years and am accustomed to the laid back service. So, if you come and I suggest you do, dont come complaining. The food is worth it. Large servings and tasty. My top picks are the Dibi and the whole snapper.
I decided to come have a dinner with a friend at this place and it was one of the worst experience I have ever had. The food took more than 45min even though the restaurant was almost empty. The waiter came to us to apologize about the delay on the food and stated that the calamari was ready but was waiting on the second dish that was being remade. My dish came out cold, dry and extra crispy. The service was a complete lackluster and we could hear the employees talking and laughing loudly in the back while we were sitting without water. The service was way below the standards expected.I wouldn’t recommend this place and I will never go back there again.
Ive been here at least 7 times over the last 3 years. And I must say that theyve been consistently good in their quality of food. Ive come on different days from the middle of the week to Sunday around brunch and have always had great food. I recommend getting the lamb with achitke. Amazing. Or if youre there during the week they have this lamb stew oh my gosh amazing I will continue going and recommend this place to everyone willing to try Senegalese food.
On multiple occasions this restaurant has disappointed me. I try not to judge store and restaurants by mistakes but when it happens multiple times...Servers are rude and disrespectful, act as if you are wasting their time and helping you is an inconvenience. They will mess up your order and blame you for their mistakes.
I am very familiar with this location. I go at least once a month with my friends. I am of West African decent and my friends are from the Caribbean and American. Each time we go the service was always very good so was the food. Since the renovation, the staff has offered less than expected service. The first time I witnessed bad service was when I took my entire family. This establishment needs to educate their staff on the meaning of waiting on your guests, we have to flag down our server each time we go in (its the same young lady) and we have to waive down for the check as well. The food remains delicious but the staff could use some training.
My first time eating Senegalese food and at this establishment. I am in love!!!!!! Wow! The ambience was welcoming, extremely clean, the waitress was very patient with me ( due to the fact I didnt know what I wanted to order) she guided me through the menu thoroughly!! THANK YOU!!!..I ordered the YASSA FISH. ( Forgot to snap a pic because I dug right in....wow!) The onions were magnificent.. I wish I can give an extra 10 stars. I live in Brooklyn but that will not stop me from enjoying , Les Ambassades...I will be returning within next month....hmmmm?? I have a feeling it will be a monthly treat for me... THANK YOU FOR THE SUPERB SERVICE & FOOD!!!!!! PEACE & LOVE
Food was awesome! The curry chicken was delicious and I substituted french fries on the side instead of rice. Best crunchy fries ever....I even dipped them in the curry sauce. A must have!I also loved the delicate pastry warmed chocolate croissant!Ill be back again...cant wait!
I stopped by to pick up a coffee for my sister and to try their baguette and Pain aux raisins. The pain aux raisins was pretty good but the baguette is a non-french style not as crusty but soft and light. This texture is similar to what a Vietnamese Banh Mi would use. I would go back and maybe try the other pastries next time. They do accept credit cards and relatively fast with your order.
Im sorry but the food I got was not good at all Shrimp fried Rice it was suppose to be jazime rice..the rice clearly was overcooked Everytime we asked for something that was on the menu they said they didnt have it..My friend ordered Lamb chops they were good though..
I came to the restaurant for dinner, with my Senegali husband and son. And I couldnt help but realize that the ladies at the front counter were staring at us. I wish they were actually working or at least pretend to, instead of staring at customers while they’re eating. Yes, this a multicultural city and hopefully they’ll get used to seeing diverse families from all over the world. Even in Senegal, I’ve never got stared at like that. Very unprofessional and weird (creepy). The food seemed stale and the chicken was very dry. Overall they need to be more professional and not serve stale food.
For a restaurant/patisserie with the extensive operating hours of Patisserie des Ambassades, this kitchen prepares meals suitable for every time of day, offering grilled chicken kebabs, steak au poivre, fried red snapper, Senegalese vegetarian dishes such as mafe, comoros curry and vegetarian casamance, and classic, Parisian patisserie-style desserts: croissants, cinnamon babkas and scones, apple turnovers, beignets a la crème and tropezienne coconut. For those wanting tried and true American fare, good old strawberry shortcake defends the home front.Everything is made in house, from scratch — how refreshing, and old-fashioned.New fashioned in this country is the kitchen crew who hail from France, North and West Africa, and are largely responsible for the solid success and growing fame of this nearly two-decade-old business.Imagine restrictive, cumbersome immigration options that were inflicted by Donald Trump’s US government, and their effect on establishments such as this one. The mere thought is shameful. At the south end of the block is Harlem Burger and around the corner from that, Lee Lee’s bakery. Too much for one visit, but then so is Harlem.
This place is a well known hidden gem. If you like French West African cuisine then this is the place to go. The fresh bread along with the mayonnaise spread and hot sauce are absolutely delicious I almost filled up on it waiting for my food!! Although we had a bit of a wait, it was worth it, if youre not starving lol!!. The meat is well seasoned and hot from the grill and tender I had the lamb it was delicious and not gamey, the Atikke which is grated up and fermented yams was great, it reminded me of Gari which is like a Ghanaian version of Atikke. The ambience is lovely the wait staff is friendly and the accompanying bakery has a wide variety of french baked goods. Ask them to make you coffee its delicious!!
Great patisserie as well as excellent choices of Senegalese food. Really love this restaurant. It completely represents the evolution of Harlem too. It has been ever growing and improving in terms of service, clientele and quality of the menu. Definitely a must if you want to have african food but also enjoy some French patisserie.
Food: The Robespierre sandwich with Grilled chicken, onions, tomatoes, and salad, mayo, french fries (inside) on a baguette was so delicious. Its also huge. I had one half and was able to save the other for lunch the next day. The Brunch menu looked terrific as well. They also have $7 lunch specials during the week.Vibe: Relaxed, very neighborhood-y feelService: We had 2 servers and they were so sweet. Double checked our orders, smiling, and made sure we knew our sandwiches had french fries in them and not on the side.Decor: From the outside it looks like an adorable looking French cafe, but inside its more of a diner in terms of decor and feel. Very comfortable though.I definitely recommend this if youre in the area and want a fun lunch and delicious food.
The most amazing place that offers African food in the entire NY State. The place is very clean, stuff is nice to everyone who comes, reasonable prices for extremely large portions, and a large variety of food and some amazing salads. This is a must go to anyone who wants to try African food for the first time and anyone who has never been satisfied by African food before. The place is Senegalese I think . I see myself going back now and again!!!!
It’s a pretty decent spot if you’re looking for something different from an American restaurant. I’ve been eating here for the past 5 years and never had a bad experience, although I’ve always ordered the grilled lamb w/ couscous. Service is always slow, but accurate.
Love the cappuccinos here. Really really good. However, the food is not as good for my tastes. Ive been here multiply times and I always find myself not looking something about a meal: whether it be the sauce or the way something was cooked. Personally not in love with the food.
My almond croissant want heavy and greasy and the baguette was hard on the outside and soft on the inside (unlike Parisian baguette that tend to be more crunchy/chewy)... Maybe thats more of the Senagalese style for baguettes? In any event, I didnt enjoy eating either the first day, but the baguette made great croutons the second day. The service was friendly and efficient.
Let me first preface what Im going to write about Les Ambassades by saying that I have been going to this restaurant for 5 yrs. My lady and I loved the food. It was a great spot to go because the atmosphere was really good and the food was amazing. We even considered them to possibly be a caterer for our future wedding.Ill say again. The food WAS very good. So good that we put a blind eye to the ever growing bad customer service with wait times for food growing to almost 30 minutes to waitresses asking who couldnt speak english well asking us if we spoke French. We stayed as loyal customers even when asking about their brunch menu and being quoted an exorbitant fee for an extra waffle. $8 for an extra waffle. Really? Slowly our patience and attendance waned because we just couldnt stand the service any more. We would go every once in a while but not like we used to. Over the years there have been several other restaurants that have popped up. One several doors down from Les Ambassades. We would never go to the other one but as a long standing business you would think the owners would pay more attention to how customers are serviced and the timing of the food being brought to customers. At least the wait staff should come back and let the customers know the food is taking a little longer and itll be out very soon. Sometimes you would get bread other times you wouldnt. This Sunday however was the end for us. Since we usually do brunch with them we went because we havent been there for some time and we went back I think more out of nostalgia. We ordered our food and the waiting began......and we waited.....and waited. The restaurant wasnt as busy and we ordered the waffle brunch menu, which should take so long. When it came out the waffles were completely different. It was 2 small waffles as opposed the large round one you usually got. so they switched to a smaller product but are charging the same price. On top of that the food was bland. Remember I said the food WAS good. Maybe it was our frustration but that sealed it for us. Chane is going to happen but its supposed to get better. Not worse!!We wont be back and truthfully I dont think the owners really care if they lose us. I usually dont write review but this really irked me and had to write something. Some not agree with me but that is their choice. Im sure they will be there but if there service and the way the food is going continues; not much longer.
Service, food and ambiance were all 1 star.Service - we had to wait for close to 10 minutes before anyone came to ask us about our orders. The waitress was unable to remember our order (coffee, tea, waffles/eggs with bacon and a traditional) and made no attempt to write it down. Food came out piece meal (waffles had no eggs, syrup or butter) and our drinks came out a minute or two after we had our food.Food - our eggs were over cooked and the waffles were cold.Ambiance - waitresses were not very attentive to customers and could be heard yelling in the back room. This was the same experience as the couple sitting next to us.Would not recommend at all
Ive been going to this place since opening inception. They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and have a separate cafe with an array of hot beverages and pastries. Everything ive had here has been superb and delicious! However, they do not serve alcohol. They do offer byob though without a corking fee which is actually better and more cost effective so no matter to me. My favorite dish dinner here is the Thiebou Djen which is a fish dish with crumbled rice and vegetables. Their scotch bonnet hot sauce compliments this dish very well. If youre into hot sauce, ask for this. For pastries, I love their chocolate croissants with an unsweetened cappuccino. For lunch they have a delicious lox sandwich. 😍 I would have given this place 5 stars but the service could be kind of slow at times. Other than that, if youre patient, want tasty food and friendly service.....This place is a must visit!!
The Robespierre sandwich--lamb, lettuce, french fries, and mayo on a baguette--was quite disappointing. The amount of filling shouldnt be on only half of the baguette. Its as if the bread is lightly seasoned with the ingredients, leaving one to eat into a dry sandwich with intermittent pops of flavor. Sadly, at all of the Senegalese restaurants in Harlem at which I have ordered the Robespierre--the description of which gives one great hope(!)--the sandwiches have suffered similarly: sparse ingredients on too dry bread, the worst of which include barely edible lamb bits, too gristlely and too fatty. For $13, all of the establishments would do well to reduce the bread size by at least a third. The flavors do have promise. I wish theyd take my advice.Im not finished: the Thiebu Djien, the Senegalese national dish, while flavorful, is NOT to be eaten on the go. They pack everything in a too small container completely separate from the rice, making it impossibly sloppy to eat if you are on the go, or even if you do not have a(nother) dish/plate in/on which to assemble the dish yourself. They need one big round plastic container I stead of the two small rectangular containers provided. And the utensils are flimsy, bending easily when trying to pick up a piece of cassava or fish. Recommendation: more sturdy plastic utensils and more napkins to supplement the single-ply serviette included in the utensil package.
Four stars almost strictly for the pastries. The restaurant is decent and the service is well intentioned, but does not stand out.The pastries are VERY good. The croissants are buttery and flakey, the tarts are beautiful (although I find the custard just a touch sweet), the cookies are fantastic. I am very pick about my almond croissants, and Les Ambassades nails it. They are so flavorful, moist, flakey, and crispy, all at once.
The service was bad. The menus on the table listed choices unavailable at the time. Ordering from the menu bought an unhelpful response about the choice not being available with no further suggestion. We were pestered by flies the whole time. My food was tasty, mostly due to the cheese sauce. The coffee was mediocre. The price was high given the quality.
The food is good, but the service is every bit as bad as the one star reviews say it is. Go when you are feeling half full after a late lunch. Youll be hungry by the time it arrives. Oh, and ask for everything all at once up front, dont expect follow up, dont hesitate to remind them. If the food wasnt good they would have been closed down years ago.
Actually one of my favorite restaurants I would have loved to give them5 stars however the only complaint I have is the wait staff is slack ! It’s kinda like they are just “chilling” so to speak like they are at home serving their aunty, however they have a guy there with dreads whom is excellent always timely and as prompt as possible! Request him, However the ladies seem to not care contrary to “west African culture “ but I really love this restaurant if you wanna excellent taste in culture also it is byob ! Which is rewarding .. however if your patience is slim this is not the establishment for you to eat at because the wait staff is the only thing slack or lack luster about here! Best lamb “dibi” in the world!
For a birthday dessert trip in Harlem for a large group, this was the perfect venue. Our table of 11 actually ended up showing up in two smaller groups half an hour apart, but the service was on-point (they were a wee bit annoyed, but accommodating) and they handled our loudness with politeness and understanding. As for the actual desserts...perhaps I went on an off-evening, but if a certain chef (cough Samuelsson cough) claimed it was like a Parisian cafe, I was envisioning a quainter place with top-notch desserts, but that was sadly not what I experienced. The almond croissant was good. The coffees were okay. Hot chocolate was expensive. The chocolate croissant was too meh - cold, too dry, and plain.
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS PLACE, FOOD POISONING ALERT. My mother ordered a shrimp linguine and the waitress brought back an oily drenched shrimp pasta with bad cheese. My mom vomited when she came home and became sick. Meanwhile, my moms friend ordered a shrimp and broccoli plate, he is STILL vomiting from it. The service was slow and the food made my parents sick.
Friendly diners, Noisy conversations, even childrens laughter, & lively music, also some outside seating a combination that for me is conducive to good digestion! There are lots of DELICIOUS choices for snacking, & meals. Sweets,& Meats! Vegetable & Fruit Salads (for vegetarians). P.S. Fresh baked breads, & pastries for take away...
We were sat without menus, people came after and were given menus and served prior to us. When the food came, one dish came 10 mins before the other. Food is good, but service means we wont be back for sit-down service again.Edit. 15 mins gone, I ha e finished my meal. A turkey and cheese crossiant has now taken 20mins to prepare and still isnt here.
Place was not very clean, super slow service, the food was not that great. We friend ordered a waffle and after 35 mins waiting for the food, they did not even bring the syrup. When I go to get the syrup the server askes me what chu want? Seriously? On a Sunday? Brunch time? Terrible costumer service!
I moved into the neighborhood 6 months ago and although there are some amazing contemporary restaurants in my neighborhood (Red Rooster and Corner Social) I was surprised to have an unbelievable Senegalese around the corner from me.Seriously people, why dont we know about this type of cuisine? Lunch for $9 was their classic stewed fish Thiebu Djen. Yeah, I know, Im not a fish guy...but seriously, this dish was LOADED with spices and the couscous was cooked with the spices too. I cant find myself ordering anything else when I go there because Im afraid the other dishes wont be as good as this one.TRUST ME: Go to Fara and order any of their specials. Flavors! Flavors! Flavors!!
Went to this restaurant yesterday with a few friends , around 330pm, the place was empty. We asked to be seated on the table of four, although it was only three of us, and both waitresses we asked, bluntly told us no...we were then squeezed into a small corner. This shouldve been our cue to leave, but we didnt....what a big mistake. Anyway, they didnt have anymore red snapper when asked. The food then came out in decent timing but wasnt all that great, at all. Lastly, they sneakily added an 18% SUGGESTED tip into our total. I didnt even recognize it till one of my friends peeped it. We immediately made sure they removed that from our total, as the service sucked and food sucked as well, therefore they were undeserving of the tip. They then removed the tip...I mistakenly ordered atieke to bring home to my bf and when I got home the atieke was hard as a brick ,even after heating it up, it got even harder...YIKES! Needless to say ,it all went to the trash! Ive never seen atieke like this before, the story gets even more crazier...as I dumped the atieke into the trash, a dead fly fell from it straight into the trash! 😔😔😔. If you wish to dine here, BEWARE and good luck!!!
Ended up ordering a chicken chawarma sandwich, but there was no more chicken (2pm??), so the alternative was lamb. Unlike other chawarma that is thinly sliced, this lamb was cubed. It was also somewhat gamey, and there was a bone in one of the pieces. Finally, the sandwich was supposed to be wrapped in pita bread but mine was wrapped in a raw tortilla. The complimentary bread was the best part of the meal.

2022-03-16Okay so let me start with the most important part, there was pieces of hard broken plastic in the Comoros Curry which is completely unacceptable and obviously very dangerous! The Curry claimed to have potatoes in it but had none of. Although quite flavorful, tender and a good portion. The rice was very bland and flavorless but also a good portion and the fried Plantains should be more ripe as it almost had barely much flavor. Also i had bit of a stomach ache after so it seems the food is not so fresh.Overall not the kind of service i would reorder for

2022-04-30The Lady behind the counter was. Not nice.. as if she had an Attitude or annoyed for some reason. I ordered Debbie and sorel Spent $44.. Sweet plantains was old and refied. Debbie was OK not the best Ive received. Why do they treat black Americans this way unacceptable.

2021-08-23Solid halal restaurant. The food was alright in my opinion, but the portion sizes are excellent. Food took a while to come out, but we had a large group (would’ve expected the appetizers to come out first tho). The Ali Baba Burger was pretty good. The Lamb Dibi was fairly dry, even with the onion sauce. Looking back we would’ve tried something different. The hibiscus drink is interesting. Staff were great.

2022-06-05I love this restaurant and all it has to offer. Fresh and irresistible but I wouldn’t push for the restaurant, why? Because the women waitresses are horrendous. I walked in with my toddler in a stroller and my husband went looking for parking never once I was looked at or given the basic service of a menu and water. I had to walk up to ask for. I’ve never been so turned off. I was told most of the food they don’t have. Seriously! The men the Real workers are smooth as Silk. Never will I bow to their doors if I see it’s a woman serving. That’s ONLY for the restaurant portion the bakery has the sweetest workers. My apologies to the owner find a better group of people these ladies are miserable. I wanted to show family and friends of this Great Find. I was always happy with this restaurant this time I might not ever return. That’s Sad.

2022-01-23Update: I like that they renovated the place. It is brighter and more spacious, but during the winter months, it gets very cold inside as people open the door to come in. I had to keep my coat on. Foodwise, the grilled dibi lamb has remained the best dish on the menu. I do not like that the servers are not consistent with serving the bread and mayonnaise. Service is minimal and quite slow.Review from 3 years ago (4 star rating): this is one of my favorite West African (Senegalese) restaurants in NYC. I love anything grilled on the menu. On my last visit, the nems were tasty and the shell perfectly crisp. The pastries are sinfully delicious. However, the shawarma was not good. The pita was too soft. Also, the burger beef patty was dry and tasteless. Just stick with the grilled dishes on the menu. I like the restaurants ambiance. The owner and servers are very welcoming.

2022-06-22Imagine spending $18 for lamb mafeh but get beef mafeh ?? 🤡🤡🤡 It’s really disappointing because people work hard for their money only to be given subpar food. I use to love this place but I won’t be back. I can get better food at a smaller local Senegalese restaurant. At this point, their charging for vibes and not great food 🤷🏾♀️

2022-06-11Sat there and ordered lamb with peanut butter sauce and the dish was lukewarm and cold on the inside, with only the plate warm, probably microwaved. It was unedible.

2021-04-24Fast and attentive service... the food was outstanding! I’m in love with their dibi lamb. The plantains, the sauce and complimentary bread butter also delicious. The portions are huge. I always expect to bring leftovers home. I refuse to eat anywhere else for dibi!!!
