Great selection of unique furniture items plus its so useful to actually try the stuff from their catalog and website.Be sure to check out the lowest level .... the selection of chairs is awesome and of all the things that most of us buy, being able to try chairs in person is amazingly useful.Staff is also very very knowledgeable... And helpful.
One of the nicest home furnishing stores in NYC. While the designs are within reach the prices are often not. That said a great place to visit for inspiration and ideas. Some items are much more affordable than others but prepare for sticker shock. Helpful staff that knows their stuff and are happy to work with you on finding the right piece or look for your room.
I had a top-notch experience that began at the door with covid safety protocols that made me feel more at ease, and continued with the staff in the showroom. I was looking for an ergonomic chair and there was a decent selection that I could try. Shakur assisted me and was knowledgable, helpful and patient throughout the process. I would definitely recommend this location.
We had an amazing experience with Wendy at the 57th streetDWR location. She was extremely knowledgable and patient and helped us design a room of our dreams! The 3D rendering software is also great for visualization and Wendy worked on or until it was perfect. I can not recommend this place enough!

Terrible experience. My salesperson stopped responding to me after taking my money. Been waiting for my furniture for over a month and my messages go unanswered.
Like the decor. Some staff can have a better attitude, but its a nice place to look when considering what youd like. Only for people that have real money, making 6 or 7 figures. But its nice to dream.
This company ignores catalog opt-out requests. Ive made three such requests in the last 18 months and the catalogs keep arriving in the mail. Ive never been a customer.

2022-04-27Made my first ever furniture purchase here, and will continue coming back when I need more Awesome service..Will update if theres an issue further. But given the number of good reviews I will chalk it up to an isolated incident of poor communication and a lemon couch (everyone has lemons unfortunately). And I would recommend. Their prices are good and the initial service was good. As was the service once it was brought to the right people...!!!

2022-08-18I purchased the kapsel sofa half year ago and surprisingly found one of the cushions on the sofa is ripped. I don’t have any pet or kid at home and I have been treating the sofa very gently with great care. I’m really shocked to see that the cushion seam is torn and I when I called the customer service, all they can say is that there’s no warranty and I will need to order the replacement part from a different place. Considering the price that I paid for this sofa, I have to leave a negative review for the service that I received.I really enjoy the sofa but will not purchase anything from design within reach because of their poor quality and service

2022-01-18Recently purchased a lamp, sectional couch and entertainment console. Glass element in lamp broken out the box return with minimal hassle. Sectional couch came in TWO deliveries. The console has a large crack on a joint and is sitting in our living room taking up too much space. We’ve been trying to return it and getting the run around. Tried to give it to the delivery guys that came to drop off the final couch section. Not happening without paper work. On the phone was told returns are 10-14 days out!?!

2021-07-17Design Within Reach is really a step above comparable furniture vendors. Their products are great, but their customer service really sets them apart. I worked with one of the designers they have on staff (Gina) to plan and layout my new apartment. She spent a ton of time working with me and was very passionate, despite me being very thorough and a bit slow to make decisions.Unlike other stores, I didnt feel any pressure to buy, and I felt like she was upfront and honest with me regarding pricing and delivery. As is typically the case with furniture, the time for delivery was longer than Id like. However, I get the sense that the staff in store actually understands the shipping and delivery process and knows how long things might take.At some stores, after you make your purchase, the employee you are working with is mostly done with you. A different part of the company handles shipping and delivery. Design Within Reach is different; Gina assured me shed be watching my order and keeping me updated throughout the process. I left feeling confident that if I had any sort of issue, shed work with me to sort it out.I ended up spending a little more than I had planned on furniture, but Im glad that I did. I was comfortable spending a bit more because I didnt think their products are overpriced; they are just higher quality. Their honesty and excellent customer service gave me confidence that Id have peace of mind and no regrets with my purchases.

2021-08-14We were shopping for a new sofa and kind of knew what we wanted from online shopping but wanted to sit on it before purchasing. While in NY went to Broadway store and asked about it, they didn’t have it but directed us to the store near 57th and Third Ave. We had an awesome experience there with Shakur Key. He gave us all the time we wanted, showed us the fabrics, other furniture with our fabric choice, gave us price comparisons for different fabrics, couldn’t have been more accommodating. We completed the order with him, and after a week he called to follow up and confirm shipping time frame. All of their furniture is beautiful and we can’t wait to enjoy our new sofa!!

2021-02-26I was actually planning to buy furniture nearby, but was put off and came here (next on my list) to an amazing shopping experience. Everything, from walking in through purchase was great, and Id highly recommend it to anyone shopping for furniture.Yes, its not cheap, but everything was seamless and I was able to furnish most of my apartment within 1.5 hours.Wendy was also an exceptional person to work with!

2021-06-23Unbelievably flaky service and completely inaccurate delivery of a bed. We ordered a king size walnut bed. What arrived was a queen size bed with a combination of walnut and blonde wood. They couldn’t have gotten it more wrong. It took months for this to arrive from the time we placed the order and now, on the day that we are moving into our new apartment, it is incorrect. We will never order from Design Within Reach again. We are also reaching out to the president of the company to alert him to this bizarrely poor service.

Its a complicated time to try to get furniture ordered and delivered -- especially a mattress -- but Ian went out of his way to help us with timing and making sure all was well. 2021-05-21Assistant studio manager at the upper east side location didnt seem to want to help me or secure my business. Ive shopped at DWR for years and never experienced the lack of customer service I experienced at this location. She never got back to me on a quote I asked her for and seemed like she didnt want to be bothered. Im a black woman and shopping on the upper east side in NYC is hardly ever a pleasant experience for me, regardless of the amount of money Im spending. But considering the fact that Im a frequent customer who has spent A LOT of money at DWR, I was hoping they would take that into consideration and at least give me the courtesy of following up in my request. I guess not. I have two words for them. Hive Modern.
