Quality food, simple, classic ambiance reminds me of a place mobsters get together and have a steak. Service was solid and cocktails were made with a careful hand; thanks Nick and our server whos name i forgot yet I appreciate his attention to detail and knowledge of the menu. Will visit again soon!.
DeStefano’s is one of the best steakhouses in Brooklyn. The owner Joe is terrific and the staff is too. You really feel like you’re at home inside. The porter house for two and the prime rib is incredible every time. So good that they don’t even give you steak knives here! The quality of the meat is so good that you don’t need them! The creamed corn is probably my favorite appetizer as well. Can’t go wrong at DeStefano’s. The brunch here is amazing too. I often find myself at the front bar hanging with Michelle and sipping on a Bloody Mary. If you haven’t been, this place is a must!
ONLY A 5 star steak place If you are clueless. A 24 oz porterhouse was ordered medium rare. Less than 1” thick medium well was served. Sent it back. Another less than 1” thick RARe was then served. Gave up at that point. Never received my asparagus appetizer. Beef barley might as well have been progressi…should have done the onion soup.Wait staff is excellent.$330 mediocre meal for two with a bottle of wine. I do not recommend this place.
Had an amazing dinner at DeStefanos. Its a cozy joint with dim lighting, but in a good way. We ordered their Steak wedges which was just the right amount of crispy but soft inside. For appetizers, we ordered their short ribs roll. Very tasty! Most importantly, Steak was perfect. Our cut was was quality. Lastly.. the wait staff was also top notch. They were constantly refilling our glasses. Will definitely be back.
Wow, what an amazing steakhouse! We had such a great dinner here. The steak was cooked perfectly and was absolutely delicious. I loved the crab cakes the most. I highly recommend this appetizer, its the best crab cake I ever had. The service was also really good. We didnt make reservations but they were able to seat us quickly.
Exceptional food and impeccable service. My wife and I went there with my daughter and her fiance to celebrate their graduation from medical school, and it was certainly a good choice. The atmosphere was cozy and our waiter treated us like old friends. Daughter had the Filet Mignon and the rest of us had the New York strip. We shared the creamed corn and garlic mashed potatoes, and for dessert we had the Creme Brulee Cheesecake and Classic Panna Cotta. While they provide steak knives, a butter knife will do the trick- particularly on the Filet Mignon. Were from out of town, so I cant say well be regulars there, and frankly, it is a bit on the pricey side, but the food and service is well worth it and its a great choice for special occasions. Must make reservations. Highly recommend.
Been here a couple of times and it never disappoints. Authentic and sticks to its roots, warm and inviting feeling. Food is amazing and never lacking flavor. Steaks are the best around Brooklyn. Sides are of bigger portion then you think. I like to go with a small side when Im with my fiance its just perfect. Prices are perfect for what youre getting on the table and service.
My wife decided to take me here for my birthday knowing I loved a good steak.Let me just start by saying the steaks are indeed good, beyond good. The porterhouse for 2 is a great option for any 2 diners so you can try the filet and strip. Both were butter knife tender and seasoned extremely well. The bone in rib eye is a great choice for those into a fattier steak. But my heart is still with the strip. For sides, we had the garlic mashed potatoes, creamed corn, creamed spinach, both of the fries. All of the sides heavenly, just go with the small.Going backwards to the appetizers, I loved the crab cakes and grilled portobello mushroom. The short rib spring rolls were great but I think more beef and less mash would’ve been better. I was afraid I would get too full before the journey of meat ahead.
I love this steakhouse. The food is always perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful. Everyone who works here treats us like we are part of the family and their staff is extra attentive. Weve been to many large name brand steakhouses and none of them can top this small secret gem of a steakhouse! Our favorite items on the menu include: caesar salad, porterhouse for two, mashed potatoes and string beans. Their creamed corn and bacon are also extremely delicious. For dessert, take a slice of cheesecake to go to enjoy as a snack one youre no longer stuffed. Hands down my favorite steakhouse 💖
2018.04 ordered only De Stefano crab cake and 40 oz Porter house... Crab cake is great Abt a large scallop size and full of crab meat taste fresh.... And Porter house is fabulous. Perfect aged and medium rare.. Usually medium rare came out medium at other restaurants. Tender and juicy. Not as dry as other aged steak restaurant... Service are excellent... Environment is warm..coz u will see lot of owner family pic
A simply phenomenal experience. The staff was great and attentive to your every need. David was an amazing waiter and made great suggestions throughout the evening. They helped to make my fiancés birthday very special. Thanks again for the great service, Ill recommend them to everyone!
Googled best Steak houses, this came up read reviews and made my reservation. Came here to celebrate my 11th Yr anniversary with my wife. From the moment entering the place, old school vibe and staff very welcoming. Michelle was our waitress. She was excellent. She helped my wife and I with the menu and suggest things on the menu based on our Appetite. The food was amazing from the appetizer to the dessert. Started with the tomato, basil, and stuffed mozzerella. It was so good, sorry no picture thats how fast we ate it. Main dish we both ordered the 160z NY Strip medium rare. So tender and mouth watering. Cut it with a Butter Knife. Our side was the Garlic mashed Potatoes. Let me not even get started with this. I love mash and I could eat that every day. Creamy smooth not overpowering with garlic. For last we had the mousse trilogy. Fantastic it was. I ate more of it I did not want share it. I highly recommend this place great food and amazing staff.
New location same great food with a little more room and a little brighter atmosphere. the food tasted just as good , hostess and server Ms. Joy is still there smiling and bringing her awesome energy. The staff still work hard to ensure your comfort & Saftey. They have COVID protocol in place. Had a great time really love DeStefanos
Incredibly tasty! Got the steak for my birthday and was surprised when they didn’t give me a steak knife, “because it’s so tender, you could cut it with a butter knife”… which was 100000% true! Service was top notch, great wine list, and they even put together a little cake to celebrate! 10/10 do recommend, one of the best dinners we’ve had in NYC.
If I could give this restaurant & its employees 20 stars I would. Being a Williamsburg native, and having grown up my whole life on Leonard Street about 100 feet from this restaurant is a bonus to go back home and see just a little bit of familiarity in the neighborhood I barely recognize anymore. The food in this place is beyond perfection! The crab cakes & short rib rolls are to die for! ANY entree ordered is cooked to perfection & their sides are fresh, hot & delicious!!! We will keep going back to Bklyn all the time just to eat here! The staff & the owner are so attentive, you cannot ask for better!!!
The food was beyond amazing. The rib eye steak and filet were so tender and it just melted in your mouth. The crumbulue cheesecake was one of the best cheesecakes Ive ever had - so good! Our server, Michelle, made the atmosphere very comforting and she was helpful with choosing what to order. I will definitely be coming here again!
I was invited to dinner I may wind up going to Destefanos the place is beautiful lot of pictures of a lot of celebrity and the service was great when we sat down he ordered the food and the food came out the kitchen very quick I was stunned with the way they cook in that place the steak was delicious and great I would recommend anybody to eat in this place if they want to have a good relaxing time with a loved one.
Went there a while ago but havent had a chance to write a review. At first glance I thought the place was no good, but boy how wrong I turned out to be! Since that time this place has been my fav steak place (and I have tried plenty). The ribeye was very (!) and portions were generous. I thought it was worth every penny. My next steak will be there although it will be a long drive for me.
Awesome experience, friendly staff, excellent service, great food. I had the porterhouse which was very juicy and flavorful, alongside we had creamed corn, garlic mashed potatoes, and green beans DELICIOUS! Their appetizers are also very good try their crab cakes, and their portobello Napolitano absolutely finger licking good. 👍🏽👍🏽
My father came into the city and asked where we could get a decent steak. I did a quick google search and realized that DeStefanos was the place to go. I loved the simple, classic steakhouse vibe that the place exudes. The server was attentive and bright. And the steaks were medium-rare pieces of art. Cannot wait for my next visit here!
Had some great dirty martinis here and the service was amazing. They waiter gave great insight on each meal. We ordered 2 apps the bacon and the short ribs. The bacon was fair but not as good as Peter Lugers. The short ribs were basically mashed potatoes with a little bit of short rib. Love my French onion soup. I got a porter house for 2 and it was salty and very oily 2 things I hate in a steak. Temp on the steak was perfect (Medium rare). The side were beyond lack luster, we went against the waiters suggestions and we hated the side. A solid 3 for a steakhouse but would only go back for the bar!
I have to say, I have had great steak in many places in New York like Sparks Steakhouse in Manhattan and at many other Italian restaurants, but DeStefanos was, by far, the best! I ordered the 8 oz filet and my brother ordered the 12 oz and both were cooked to perfection. They were so good that we actually ordered a second 8 oz filet with a challenge to the chef to make it as good as the first two. He accepted the challenge and he won! Well, we won because we got to eat the steak. The sides were exceptional, the wine selection was great and the staff was amazing! We most definitely plan on eating at DeStefanos again and again.
Great location, lots of parking, cozy atmosphere. This is my go to place when I want to enjoy great steak in an intimate setting. I’ve dined here several times and it’s always been such a great experience. The food is delicious, the staff members are extremely nice, and the ambience is always perfect. It’s perfect for families and couples. I highly recommend this place for steak lovers looking to have a nice dinner in a comfy setting. Totally worth the money!!
Rib eye was really good but it came in a huge puddle of butter oil. I didn’t bother to say anything to the waitress because I figured they should have some common sense which is clearly not so common. Otherwise, the cream corn and garlic mash potatoes were pretty good and the service was excellent.
Went around 9 on a Saturday and was seated right away. There were a few other tables of people. The place is just old school cool. My friend and I could talk easily without echoing off the walls or overhearing everyone else. The waiter was attentive but not obnoxious, and the porterhouse was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had. The sides were awesome, too, and my old fashioned beverage was on point. I can’t wait to go back!
I am so happy I read everyones good reviews and took a chance going to Destefanos. We went for my mothers birthday and she loved it. The tables were more than 6feet apart beacuse of social distancing with Covid. Everyone felt safe. The server was courteous and patient. We never felt rushed once eventhough we spent alot of time taking pictures!:) When our food finally arrived, we were in heaven!!! The food was like eating chocolate and feeling happy. We had the lamb chops, 16oz new york strip, chicken cordon bleau, mashed potatoes, and creamed corn and spinach. The drinks and cheese cake were great as well.Overall, it was worth the money.
Before the pandemic my wife and I visited this place and we were turned away because we were black. We were told if we go up the black we could get Spanish food. That wasnt what we were looking for. Ive been to a lot of Italian spots and we were never treated this way. Well dont recommend for anyone. Terrible experience!!!
Came in with no reservation hoping to get a table, after a brief wait, we were told someone had cancelled and to follow the hosts. Perfect! Ambiance was amazing, and I think we got lucky because the whole place was fool. We got the stake for two 40oz, it was amazing! Along with Cesar sale, and some crab cakes. % stars overall would recommend for to anyone1
This place is perfect for a nice date night, especially if one doesnt feel like going all the way into Manhattan for a good steak. The service is amazing, and the family-style atmosphere (have yet to actually see a kid there but Im sure theyre welcome, weve only been three times) is so welcoming and friendly. Dave is an amazing server, and make sure to try the creamed corn with parmesan.
Service is top notch. They even have us an appetizer on the house. Food was excellent I had a bacon which was extremely delicious that I want to see if I can replicate it at home. My entire was lobster ravioli which I recommend to those who dont eat red meat. I know, youre thinking why would someone who doesnt eat red meat go to a steakhouse. But they do serve other food besides beef. Theres chicken, fish and ravioli. Their creamed corn, mashed potato and fries were all very good too! I came with my two young toddlers and they were very accommodating. Its not one of those restaurants where it would be rude if there were loud noises. Definitely recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
Great steak in a cozy homelike setting. Unlike most restaurants in the area, this place is rooted in the older Italian Williamsburg neighborhood. Its a great place to take your family, or go on a fancy date. The prices arent inexpensive, but match the quality of the food, and offer larger portions than other nearby steakhouses charging the same or higher prices.
Love this place! Was recommended to us. Very cozy, casual family restaurant. I had the lamb chops and my huband had the filet. So good! Our waitress was so very friendly and service was awesome. The sides, are for 2 if you order small. Well worth the price, will go again when visiting.
This is my second time coming here for dinner in the last week. I’ve had the Porterhouse and Rib-Eye, both of which were two of the best steaks I’ve had in Brooklyn. Aside from the food, the service here is what mostly sticks out. Our server and the owner John were very welcoming and gave us tremendous service throughout the night.
Great food. Appetizer special was great and tasted amazing, porterhouse for two was seasoned and cooked perfectly.. Must have medium rare!!! Mashed potatoes had a hint of garlic and went great with the steat. Highly recommend to anyone for a casual night out or a romantic date night or a dinner with friends. Its great for all!!!
I have been here twice. The service is incredible. It has a neighborhood / family vibe to it.Everyone is warm and friendly. It is not a stuffy place, but it is a little expensive. What stood out to me was the freshness of the meats. The meat is cooked to perfection. Also - all meat can be cut (and they insist) with a butter knife.Very impressive Brooklyn steakhouse
The location was cozy. There is no parking so you might have to park a few blocks away. The service is fast, fun and friendly. The food comes out fast and hot. Now for the break down.Appetizers was good. The bacon was hickory sweet and thick. The crab cakes was lumped to perfection. The Cesar salad was on point. The porterhouse for 2 was good as hell. Seasoned well. I recommend medium. The rib eye was juicy and nicely seasoned to the bone. The sides. Mash is buttery and garlic heaven. Corn was so so. Spinach dip.... not enough portion.Drinks was good. Wine selection was good and beer could use more.Overall solid 4/5*
We really enjoyed this old-fashioned (though not especially old) Williamsburg steakhouse. The service was very friendly, and the steak (we ordered the porterhouse for two) was quite good. What really stood out, however, were the pistachio-crusted lamb chops, a surprise winner in the what was your favorite dish? competition, and the now-ubiquitous, but here-definitely-worth-ordering short rib spring rolls. More than worth a visit.
We came for dinner after an Islander game. It was a 10 minute cab ride over. They were very nice and sat us late at 10:30pm.( we called in advance). The staff was very friendly and helpful with ordering. They initially told us they were just as good as Peter Lugars and they do not hand out steak knives as the steak is so tender. That was a bold statement to some serious meat eaters. I have to say they nailed it on all fronts. We had a porterhouse for two medium rare and it was fantastic. No steak knife needed. Wine choices were great and it was a great meal all around. We are so happy we tried this place. It’s now on the list for pre or post game meals.
Dee best steakhouse in NYC. I love this place! Ive been there many many times, never disappointed. I can honestly say that Ive eaten everything the menu has to offer and never disappointed. John and his staff are truly friendly people. I rarely write a review on anything, but there is always a first time. I guarantee that your first time wont be your last time.
There is literally no other place we will eat steak. DeStefanos is not only full of delicious food, but also amazingly friendly service. Our waiter David always remembers us when we go (and thats only once a year usually). Its the little things that count. The food is perfectly cooked and seasoned and never needs anything else. The side dishes are perfect compliments to the cuts of meats you order. I HIGHLY recommend going!
An excellent place! Great and cozy environment, friendly and welcoming staff, and the food... Ohhh the food is delicious! The steaks are so greatly prepared, that you dont need a steak knife... Its like cutting butter! An excellent place, that would definitely visit again
What an amazing experience we had at this Steakhouse, we are all so glad to have chosen DeStefanos during our stay in New York! The staff, The Food & The Restaurant made us feel like we were apart of the family. Thank You again. See you on the next trip to the Big Apple!
I took my husband here for his birthday dinner as hes a big steak fan and he couldnt have been more satisfied. The New York strip cannot be beat, honestly the best Ive ever had. Beautiful flavorful crust and perfectly cooked on the inside. My husband had the rib eye which he loved as well. For dessert, I highly recommend the cheesecake its so light and fluffy you wont even feel guilty :)The only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars was the ambiance. Sure it was Wednesday, but the energy was low, pretty empty and quiet, lighting wasnt spectacular and our waitress wasnt the friendliest. But at the end of the night, the manager gave us a Birthday dessert on the house which was nice.Overall, delicious food and I would come here again for special occasions (its pricey)
Couldnt of had a better dinner. First off the people at Dees know how to welcome you. You get the feeling that you have walked into a large family of friends. This atmosphere stays throughout the entire meal. Then the food. It was excellent. I had the veal chop, out of this world, lots of great flavor. The menu says its becoming the most popular and I see why. My son had the lamb chops which of course I had to try and everyone else did too at the table. Again outstanding. My wife and my sons girlfriend had the filet. Perfect. We mentioned that it was our 29th wedding anniversary the other day, so what did they do, brought over a cheese cake with a candle. Definitely coming back when we visit our son again in Brooklyn.
Over from England for my sons 21st. Wanted to get out of the commercial bits of NYC, so saw good reviews and went here. Wow! Excellent place. Easily the best meal we had all week. Best service and staff in NYC! Highly recommended! I mentioned it was my sons 21st and they gave us a free dessert! If youre in ny, go to Williamsburg (its also great) and have a meal here. Dont believe any bad reviews. Well done. Keep up the good work! 😊😊👍🏽👍🏽
Ever crave a juicy & perfectly cooked steak with sides so darn good it literally makes you close your eyes and say Mmmmm? If so, then you definitely need to visit this steakhouse to satisfy that craving!! You wont be disappointed! Family owned business and wonderful service. Must visit if youre in Brooklyn, New York.
Beautiful decor, fantastic food, delicious drinks, polite and friendly service, a must eat place..no need to go to the City for this type of restaurant. A pure gem. A little note of advice: be on time or at least call if you are going to be late, seating is limited with a high demand.
Will sum this up by saying grace & joy were the highlights of our experience. Actually with a capital G & J. Our two fantastic servers filled the room with their namesakes. We celebrated the last single night for our bestie who got married the next day and every request was delivered with aplomb and their attention to detail was second to none. We had the section to ourselves and were able to literally LOL without disturbing the revelers in the main dining room. All of the meal choices were flavorful, perfectly prepared and #deeeelish!!! Absolutely one of the best lamb chops Ive ever had. Pistachio encrusted lamb chops were fan-friggen-tastic!!! My friends had NY Strip steaks and cleaned their plates. We shared shrimp cocktail, the short rib appetizer in a pastry shell & crab cakes. The small sides feed two, the medium 3 to 4 and the large will serve a village. 🤭Highly recommend DeStefanos. I had to take an Uber to the LIRR, then catch the 7 & G trains and walked in the rain for a couple of blocks to get there. It was worth it!#LocalGem #GreatEats #LambTastic #Steakhouse #RecoveringKnowItAll
Had the great pleasure of eating at Destefanos with my wife and 2 friends. It is a small steakhouse, and I love it like that. From the moment we stepped in, it was a great experience. The bartender at the small bar by the front door was very friendly and funny. She made great drinks and would join us in conversation when she wasnt otherwise occupied. The food was absolutely delicious. I ordered the 24oz rib eye medium rare, it was cooked perfectly. My wife got the filet, the seasoning was amazing and it was also cooked to a perfect med rare. They were both even better the next morning with eggs. Mmmm, Im drooling just thinking about it. The server was funny as well and took a selfie with us after our group picture. We will definitely be returning very soon.
Went here for me and my boyfriends anniversary and they didnt disappoint! We had a fairly early dinner (around 6/7) so there werent that many people there yet. We had the pulled pork egg rolls, the crab cakes, the brussel sprouts with bacon and a 28 day steak seasoned with fennel (I cant for the life of me remember what cut it was). The whole evening was very nice. They even gave us a complimentary shot of limoncello at the end. We had also gone there with a coupon, which made a surprisingly affordable anniversary dinner for two.
I love this place! Great steak, and unlike Peter Lugers, the sides are amazing and the servers are really nice. I recommend the porterhouse for two, the steak fries (I dont usually like steak fries, but these are SO GOOD!) and the maple carrots. It may not be cheap, but its definitely worth the money. The staff will remember you if you come in often, and when I was there for my anniversary, they upgraded our bottle of wine to a better bottle of wine for free. When was the last time that happened at Peter Lugers? Id venture to say probably never.
Came here before about 1 year ago with my wife and I recalled it being good and on par with other top steakhouses. I Came here today and I was very disappointed. We got a ribey and a porter house for two . The steak did not look aged at all , hard to cut , no flavor and filled with oil.Hopefully this was just a bad day and they get whoever chef or manager they had before.
I know its a steakhouse, but I had the chicken...and I certainly wasnt disappointed! One if the best meals Ive eaten! The steaks were huge and juicy when I tasted them. You MUST try the steakfries! Service was good. Place is a bit pricey, but this place is everything a steakhouse should be, from ambience to wine selection. Ill be returning for sure!
I went here with my family for Thanksgiving dinner. We had a 7:30 reservation and we got it an hour early. We were seated at 6:45. The ambiance was beautiful and the staff were very friendly. The owner, John, gave us extra food on the house and was accommodating when my 12 year old sister was being picky about her food. The food was absolutely to die for. I had the filet mignon, and I sampled the various thanksgiving food that my family was having. The steak was superb, cooked at a perfect medium rare, tender, and well seasoned. For dessert, I had the homemade tiramisu. It was moist and absolutely beautiful. The physical restaurant was clean and well kept. The bathrooms and floors were clean. All in all, DeStefanos steakhouse was a fantastic, homey, and tasty place to enjoy our thanksgiving. Five stars well deserved.
Hands down this is the BEST STEAK HOUSE. I have NEVER had a steak so tender and juicy. The environment was relaxing. I dont travel to brooklyn often, but I WILL travel from another borough just for there food. It was worth the drive. The customer service was great. As I was exiting the steak house, the owner Johnny Dee overheard me speaking about coming from another borough to eat there and gave me a gift certificate to come back. (Did I mention it was my birthday)? Omg how I felt like a big kid at a candy store. I will definitely be going back soon. As well as telling all my co workers @Bronx County Department of Public Safety about this place. Thanks again Johnny for opening a steak heaven in bk. Ill be back soon and with my colleges in uniform.
Couldnt remember if the best steak weve had was tonights or the one we had last time, but either way, the combination of great food, attentive/knowledgable service, a warm/inviting room, and an owner who is active on the floor doing everything he can to make the dining experience exceptional, will keep us coming back to DeStefanos. None better.
I came to Destefanos for my mothers birthday. Reservations were made day off without any issues online. Later on we found out that my little cousin (10 yo) was coming so we called an hour before to modify the reservations without any issues. We arrived on time and were taken to the dinning room. The service was wonderful and though the prices seemed high, we had a ribeye per 2 people without any issues. Along with the ribeye we shared a 4 family sides and at the end we were all full. As it was my mothers birthday they provided a free desert of our choosing and even sang happy birthday. I must say the overall experience was wonderful. The service was very quick and accommodating to all of our needs (last minute 10 yo included ).The food was delicious... must try the potato croquettes and the atmosphere was very relaxed which is not often found in a steakhouse. I would definitely come back .
The food here is fantastic. Its hard to tell if the steak if better than peter lugers unless it is side by side, but Ive had both and I feel they are equal in quality. The service is fantastic and very accommodating. I have no complaints and highly recommend it to all meat lovers
Im not sure if I would have found this little spot had my sister not been singing its praise for such a long time. Shed told me she thought that it was better than Peter Luger. The dining room is smaller than Lugers, and lacks the testosterone attitude that Luger oozes. Our server was very attentive, though we ended up being there up until the dining room closed and it seemed like she might be ready for us to go. We shared the porterhouse for two, which was a nice-sized portion but doable for two people. It was so tender you did not even need a steak knife and seasoned so well I forgot there was no additional sauce on it. We had the sauteed spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as sides - individual portion size, not the one for 2 people, which ended up to be more than enough. I dare say I agree with my sisters assessment - and guess what? They even take credit cards!
Not only does this place serve the best steak in NYC but the experience is top-notch, too.I dined here for a birthday dinner with two others on a Saturday evening right at 5pm and from start to finish, it was an amazing experience. Every single employee we interacted with was super friendly, especially our main server, Michelle. The wine, cocktail and beer list is simple and very reasonably-priced (bottles from $35-$95). Our steaks were cooked perfectly which is so rare (no pun intended). I cant wait to return!I highly recommend the following:Appetizers: portobello napolitano and bacon-wrapped asparagusMains: Filet mignon, 40 ounce rib eyeSides: Creamed spinach, home fries, potato croquettesDesserts: Red velvet in a cream cloud (and another that was a special)
DeStefanos is my husband and my go-to place for every special occasion. The entire staff is courteous and kind, and Michelles service on our last visit on my birthday was the absolute best. Then, theres the food. I ordered the burrata appetizer and the NY Strip, and my husband stuck with his filet mignon. Everything was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious. A perfect dining experience. Thanks, DeStefanos for another memorable evening!
VERY disappointed. My girlfriend and I were the first patrons at this restaurant on a Saturday morning. When we sat down a few more couples came in and sat down as well. We ordered the special for the day which was a burrata with heirloom tomatoes and it was good. For the entree we decided to split the 40 oz porterhouse since that is what most people try here (based on reviews). We ordered it Medium rare as per recommendation from the server. When we got the steak it was so raw and chewy I was shocked. How can a $95 steak be cooked so poorly? It was COLD in the middle and it was so chewy I thought I would get TMJ from the amount of chewing I did. I asked the server to please have the chef cook it some more. When they brought it back IT WAS STILL RARE!!!!!! And then the server started giving me dirty looks and laughing with her coworker. I came to a steakhouse that servers over priced steaks. I EXPECT them to be flawless!!!!!Im really a non confrontational person so I just wanted to get the hell out of there. I asked for the steak to be doggy bagged and we left. And get this.... Right before we leave a couple that came in AFTER us, LEFT before us after they complained that their steaks were chewy and dry. We were not the only ones disappointed that day. The service could have been better as well, if you are a server and you can see your patrons are clearly dissatisfied with the meal.. SAY SOMETHING! Correct the problem and dont bring back the SAME problem!!Folks, if you want a real quality dry-aged steak with REAL NYC service. I strongly suggest Wolfgangs!!!! They will come to you and FINISH the steak off right on the ceramic plate it comes in so its nice and hot.I will NEVER come back here!!!!
Late 2013 Update: After our original experience, we took a couple of friends for another birthday dinner celebration and had another good experience. In fact, our friends favorably compared it to one of their all time favorite places. There might be some more famous, with bigger name recognition or a more high end feel than this one, but I can guarantee you that the food and the service can run with the big names.-----Late 2012We picked it out from reviews sight unseen based on the location because we were going to be in the neighborhood and didnt really know anything about the areas restaurants. It turned out to be a pretty good choice. You expect good food when you go out to eat but what makes the difference and makes you want to go out of your way to go back is the service and attention to detail. Atmosphere was comfortable. Not so high end as to feel like you have to whisper and wipe the edges of your mouth only but not an Applebees by any means. Classy, comfortable and homey. When we entered the cozy restaurant (probably seats no more than 20 at a time unless there were more rooms I didnt see) a bit earlier than our reservation (recommended), we were seated right away. We didnt notice a coat rack and the person seating us offered to hang our coats instead of pointing us to the rack. When ordering a rare, the follow up question was asked, do you want center warm or cold? A good sign. Finally, we looked at the desert menu but the Tira misu was gone so we opted for a cordial and Irish Coffee instead. What we did not know is that our server (Danielle) overheard my other half wishing me a happy birthday (part of her gift to me) and took it upon herself to bring out a plate with some New York Cheesecake with raspberry words spelling out Happy Birthday with two candles for us to share.First time diners, didnt order the most expensive thing on the menu and we dont know anyone on the staff. They just know how to create a dining experience with good food and great service. Wish more places were like this one.
DeStefanosSteakhouse is the best steak house in NYC. Excellent service. Waiters are excellent. John, the owner is always friendly and pleasant. The food is always excellent and the ambiance is excellent. Better than Peter Lugers. Best Porterhouse Steak along with a great wine selection. Excellent Appetizers and side dishes. Excellent homemade desserts.
Porterhouse so tender it can be cut with a butter knife. I didnt believe it when they bought out this large 28 day aged porterhouse and only gave us standard table knives, but its that tender (though a tad pricey). The portions are large, so if youre getting sides with a steak/entree the individual portion is large enough to share between 2 people. The place feels relaxed - the walls are covered in photos of patrons and the staff which make you feel like youre on the set of Cheers or in someones den.
Awesome Steakhouse! I had the 24oz Ribeye with sauteed fennel and my girlfriend got the 20oz veal chop. Both were delicious, the ribeye was think and juicy. I definitely recommend the fennel, which when sauteed tastes more like a mild onion. We got the spinach for two as a side, though next time Id probably do something else (or at least not a double helping - it was a bit much).Enjoy!
Low-lighting small family owned restaurant is a great place for a fancy dinner date. The steaks are cooked to perfection and the service is friendly. Depending on the other tables it can get a little loud. Check deal sites as they frequently have discounts running to make it more affordable.
Let me start with the good part:- Service was great, really, great job of all the 4 we talked to- Family pictures on the wall, I really like- the family vibe as well- and I really enjoy to escape the Williamsburg vibe a friday night...But now lets be honest wiith the bad part:- Meat is really not impressive, temperature not ok.- not a beautiful piece was our Porter house. Lot lot of fat and tissue, it really seems to me this is not grass fed or lets say real, and had a lot of hormones... we miss the right taste. Far from competitors from the hood like Luger or Saint Anselm- price went wild honestly, I paid more than what I often pay in quite high quality gastronomic restaurants such as Blue Hill...- and yes really, finally, a detail, but please the olive oil you pour me with by bread while waiting. This needs to be good olive oil. Not excellent, but good.but we still had a good night, thanks to the crew :-)

2022-04-22Old steakhouse in Brooklyn, atmosphere is great and cozy. Our porterhouse steak was amazing with mashed potatoes so was the ribeye and cream corn. Pear salad was also delicious. We had such a kind server with great suggestions for food and wine. It was truly a great experience. We will be back.

2022-01-24This is one of the best steakhouses in Brooklyn. They have the whole nine yards. Great steak, great apps, great sides and great dessert. For steak, the rib eye is phenomenal. Get the French onion soup, you wont be disappointed. Mashed potatoes are unreal. And the cheesecake is a classic. This place is a must have for steakhouse lovers.

2022-05-22This place is amazing. Not very big, but they have terrific food. The quality of the meats were top notch and the service was superior. We had a reservation, we were running very late, I called the restaurant and explained our situation, they were so helpful and accommodating. I am so glad we didnt miss out on an amazing meal like we got there. The steaks and the lamb chops were so good, and the creme brulee cheesecake is definitely worth the calories.

2021-11-01We enjoyed our food. It was delicious, but overpriced. The entrees dont come w/sides. You have to buy them separately. The menu is limited, not many selections.
