My 12 year old Pekingese got very sick on a Wednesday afternoon. Being Dickerson was her most recent Veterinarian hospital I called them desperately because she was going down quickly. I was RUDELY told by one that surly answers the phone that they could not get her in for weeks! I asked for owner, who use to raise Pekes, and she said rudely, she don’t work except on Monday and Tuesdays and wouldn’t contact here! My old Vets, Vestal Veterinarians, took her in the next day and by then she was slipping in a diabetic coma. They did everything they could to save her to no avail. If they had her when I first begged Dickerson to see her!
This is a great vet practice-- Ive used them for everything from routine shots to diagnosing and managing chronic health conditions to emergencies. (Primarily dogs but also one cat.) Dr. B is thoughtful, does a thorough physical exam, and knows her patients very well. They do a nice job of staying on top of current developments but also knowing the tried and true options for care. The staff are kind and compassionate, which always makes for a good experience. I will go to this practice as long as I live here!
It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. We began with Dickin when our dog was a puppy ten years ago. It was a small office with just Dr. Beaulieu and we received outstanding service - she was kind, compassionate and professional. The office was small enough to do everything right - including handling their own emergencies (a HUGE plus to anyone who’s ever needed a vet after hours). When you called the office, they all knew you and you knew them.A few years ago, Dr. B decided to expand and create a huge pet hospital/hotel in Endicott and that’s when her perfect business model went down hill. It began with massive staff increases - faces you’d never seen before and they changed all the time... phone trees instead of a person answering the phone... appointments made 5 to 6 weeks out (unless you want to pay the emergency fee and they’ll squeeze you in during business hours only)...waiting areas and rooms clearly not cleaned often enough... dog waste left on the edges of the parking lot...phone calls not returned... THIS IS THE NORM NOW. Although we weren’t comfortable with this, we stayed because of one vet there - Dr. Karaline Tripp. An amazing vet who really cared, but has since moved on to Ithaca. We gave Dickin another chance, and boy am I sorry we did.Yesterday, after two office visits and numerous unanswered phone calls and emails concerning an ongoing issue with my dog, I finally emailed her to ask what she advised we do next. I respectfully outlined my frustrations with the lack of communication and simply asked if she could call me at home, since I’ve already taken the dog there twice and had to sit in my car and wait for my two minutes on the phone with her. What I received back was an astounding disrespectful, unprofessional, highly emotional, sarcastic email. No apology for not communicating with me, no rational attempt to help with a medical situation - just over-the-top meanness. She told me to “go sit in someone else’s parking lot” and “find another vet”. Then she emailed me my dog’s records. I guess there is a reason they call her Dr. B. She’s apparently gotten far too important to actually care about her clients - or maybe it’s just the almighty dollar she cares about?
In need of a new veterinarian office or just not happy with your current one? I was in both categories. I was driving almost 2 hours to Cornell for vet care as no one in the area would take an ER case! Now I am closer to care and the staff is beyond amazing! The doctors go above and beyond to make sure you understand the situation, diagnosis, the care plan, and they follow up. They are always available for questions or guidance. The staff made all of my animals immediately at ease and did what they had to without causing additional stress. Clean, newly renovated building. One side is the veterinarian office and the other side is the animal hotel. They offer boarding and grooming services all in the same location. Well worth a visit with your furbabies.
I’ve been bringing my Labrador and fuzzy cat to Dr Tripp for 4 years now. Hands down, the most empathetic, knowledgeable, non-price gouging veterinarian I’ve ever had. My dog has had 2 TPLO repairs and a number of other issues and the service has been nothing shy of stellar. Dr Tripp always takes the time to explain, offer options, and is accessible should anything come up. I see she has left the practice?!? Where to?! She will be sorely missed!
I am really disappointed in this hospital. I have two puppies and they have had their all exams and vaccinations at this hospital. I am a new parents, so I am not familiar with how to keep a puppy. At first, I asked them when did I need to do flea and sticks preventions for my puppies. They told me I needed to wait until they weigh up to 18 pounds. By the third visit, they changed vet and told me I need to do flea and stick preventions, even though my puppy wasn’t 18 pounds at that time. I felt very confuse. Even more disappointing is that I paid 17 dollars to cut puppy’s nail at this hospital. His nail was bleeding after we went home and this hospital told me it was not their goal and they were not on purpose. Their answer is so interesting!! They are so unprofessional!!! I will never go back again!!!
This amazing place is the best Animal hospital ever. If you have not found out nothing about your pet I simply say that this is me lucky place to go. They find out what is wrong with the pets right on the nose.Very warm place to be to get your pet to feel safe and wonderful amazing doctors to see you can feel the love when you go there. My amazing beautiful dream home for my adorable baby. You must check it out and you will see that theres Nothing else better than Dickins Animal hospital. I truly love it there.Thank you for saving my baby girl.
Honestly they are amazing. First of all the place is beautiful and homey. The staff is so amazing. My hedgie was very sick and I called late at night and they were able to answer and talk me through it. Then the next day they were seriously so busy and backed up on appointments bc a doctor was sick but they scheduled an appointment with us right away. Even the assistant vet was so helpful and knowledgeable. They genuinely care about your animals. Price is also great most places are cash hogs but this place cares about people and their pets. So happy I went here instead of another vet. ALSO if you have exotic animals they take all animals here which is hard to find!
Highly recommend! We started go to Dr B with our first dog when I was little when she worked at a small office in Owego and we followed her when she opened her own vet office in Johnson city! Now her office in endicott is beautiful! My entire family uses her as our vet as well as my husband and i take our dog to her too! Everyone who works there truly cares about your pets like their own!
Probably the best Vet Hospital that Ive ever been to, treated my wife and I very well as we dealt with the loss of our cat, and helped us get our other pets established. Cant complain about the price either, especially for the level of care you get. Cannot recommend enough.
One of the worst experiences i’ve had at a vet hospital. my boss had called the day before letting them know if an emergency was to happen with a clients dog that i was to bring her in and was given permission to bring her in. fast forward, i bring her in and the front desk lady was less than helpful. the owners name was on the cats kennel and she couldn’t even come over to look at her kennel as i’m holding the cat, my purse, and personal items trying to balance everything which i found a little rude and inconsiderate. then, she couldn’t even find the name in her computer even though the owner AND boss told me she’s been there. i didn’t know too much information as it wasn’t my dog so it was a little difficult to help. i finally was able to go to a room and the front desk lady didn’t help me at all as i was going to the room. she didn’t hold the door, or help gather anything which was also a little rude. the vet and vet assistant was AMAZING and very helpful. they made sure the cat got the help she needed without making her wait since she was in bad shape. as i was leaving i caught the front desk lady giving me a death glare and didn’t even say bye or anything. for an emergency situation i don’t think it was handled well or properly.
Came in for an emergency vet visit for my 5 month old pitoxer, Sophia. The staff was great and very attentive and answered all of my questions and explained everything down to a T. The staff was very compassionate and kind. I would deffinetely recommend taking your fur babies here for care!
It has taken us months before we were strong enough to write about our experience with Dickin Memorial Hospital and especially with Dr. Tripp. Our Boxers are our children. We love them, we are proud of them, we worry about them, we hope for them and we love them with every ounce of our being. We started having health issues with our 11 year old Boxer Indy. We raised Indy from a baby. We had him since about the time my wife and I began dating. He was our baby. Besides the normal issues with age like hips and back Indy started having issue with Incontinence in our home at about age 10. We left our longtime vet as we were unhappy with the fact that they didn’t listen to our concerns about the new changes we saw and wrote it off as age. We tried a couple of other vets who really didn’t listen to the fact that my wife had identified what we believed was the cause of the incontinence. After reading reviews about Dickin Memorial we decided to give them a try. Dr. Tripp was awesome. She listened to our concerns, she was empathetic, and she explained everything she was going to do to try to help. We felt so supported. She began testing right away to try to isolate the cause of Indy’s symptoms. Little did we know there was a worse health issue that had been hiding inside our baby. Indy began suffering from congenital heart failure. His legs swelled and although we were treating the symptoms Indy’s end on this earth was drawing nearer. When it was time to say goodbye Dr. Tripp was very compassionate and gave us time to say goodbye. We stayed with Indy until his light went out. Losing him was truly like losing our baby and the grief over losing him has crushed us both. If your pet is having an issue and your vet is not listening to you or doesn’t seem to care then don’t wait. Get them to someone who cares and wants to help. We can’t say enough about how great Dr. Tripp and her staff were. They were amazing! The Conway’s
Universally very kind, knowledgeable and caring group. Highly recommend!I am now going to update this review and lower rating from 5 stars to jusr 1. My dog was seriously ill and I continually brought him in and repeatedly received terrible advice. In fact, the last time I was there, I spoke tipp the very about my dogs illness and a vet tech came in and told the doctor she had another appointment in another room and dragged her out mid-sentence. Deplorable behavior. There is far more to report, but there is not enough time. The bottom line is unprofessionalism runs amok here like them very clearly and vivdly laughing and making fun of my sick dog, just outside the door. If they make fun of the pets they treat, are they really providing excellent care? There is still more i can report... Needless to say, Im permanantly done with them and I found a much more caring and skilled veterinary facility in Endwell.
Upon the advice of several friends, we took our 3 month old Golden Retriever puppy to Dickin. Dr. B spent almost an hour with us patiently giving tips on chewing, diet, general care. She recommends products, but doesnt push purchasing them from their office, and offers economical options. During her exam, she discovered a malocclusion of his baby canine teeth. Realizing it was painful and would most likely cause problems in the future, the office scheduled surgery asap on a day that was already full. We highly recommend this office.
They are the best! Had an appointment to have my standard poodle looked at, he appeared to have pulled a muscle in his hind leg. Dr Tripp have him a though exam and decided to wait, not do $200 worth of exrays at that time which would require sedation and prescribed doggie Advil and gabapentin, which I had at home, so no need for that script. Thanks Dr.Tripp , Luca is doing fine, I truly appreciate your common sense!
**Choose DIckin before an Emergency**This review is to let you know the NEED for estslished Veterinary care , i know what its like to be forced to go to the local up-front cash-only Vet in town. Never a good outcome. This is hands-down the best Veterinary practice in town. They are not overly priced and I highly recommend to become established here as soon as you add a fur baby to your house. This will be a god-send if you need off-hour emergency care/advice. Call-backs are immediate, texting ok, send a pic of the problem and 7/10 times avoid an Emergency visit. That kind of care, peace of mind and confidence is only a small virtue to the overall quality service.
1st off the office in JC was horrible in appearance and smell. Took my 8yo shi-poo dog in to have his cyst looked at (which already burst on its own). The vet that took care of us at their JC facility told me it is cancer without even doing a biopsy and she wouldnt put an animal through cancer treatment if I were her. I was so upset and did my own research on the cyst (it was just a cyst no cancer verified by needle biopsy from another vet office). Then I get a quote in the mail to perform a surgery for an estimate of 3K-5K. NO NO NO. Wont ever take my animals there. Started going to another Vet and they explain so much more and give options.
Im so lucky to have these ladies take care of our beloved Steven. Although he didnt make it, I could hear in their voice and see in their eyes the love they had for him and how much they wanted to help him. That you both, Dr B and Dr Tripp for your care and support during ours officials time

2022-03-01This has been our Vet since moving to Binghamton 4 years ago. The Doctors and staff truly love what they do and the many animals for whom they care. On-site they have a professional groomer, a boarding kennel, and a specialty gift store for any animal lover. The agency also makes an effort to promote and support local animal related nonprofits. The agency takes cash, credit, and electronic payments which makes everything so much easier when your hands are full of excited fur-baby.

2022-04-19Although my heart is shattered, today I had to let Taylor, my wonderful, beautiful, smart, loving, friendly, obedient companion of 10+ years cross the Rainbow Bridge to heaven. Words cannot express how I already miss him...the staff was wonderful and so helpful. Take your loving pet to Dickin if he needs anything.

2018-05-11The best veterinarian in Binghamton! Doctors are all trained in Cornell University. Staff is warm, caring and knowledable. I am very impressed with the level of care, knowledge, sensitivity to maintaining reasonable prices without jeopardizing the quality of care.

2018-03-09I have never been to a Veterinarian who was more caring and loving to my puppies. We have two Olde English Pocket Beagles and both have gone there since birth. I dont think my babies could get better care anywhere. Sammi and Cassi say thank you for all you have done for them. Jeff

2021-01-12I can not stress enough how much I love this place! We transferred from endless mt care during the middle of the lockdown mostly because they were recommended and endless couldn’t get us in (even though we had brought our dogs there for years ! Dickin got us in and gave extraordinary care even during such trying times. Since then the care has been prompt and amazing , especially recently we had two unrelated emergencies with our dogs within a couple of weeks apart from each other. They were able to get them both in, after talking on the phone and sending pictures back and forth and handled them so amazing and fixed the problems without further questions or procedures that they did not need as well as AFFORDABLE! We didn’t have to take out a second mortgage ! They care about the animals and not just the money !If you can get in with them, (I don’t know if they accept new patients currently) I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
