I didnt hear a lot about this place on Youtube, maybe since its a chain. But the food and vibe was awesome both times we ate here. We had Szechuan wontons, Shanghai pork dumplings, Fried short ribs, Tiny steam buns (pork & veggies) and Chicken Shu Mai. Everything was very tasty and incredibly satisfying. The prices are very reasonable and theyre open late. Definitely recommend!
Quaint little spot near 42nd and port authority, so relatively easy to access. Table service is decent all though our waiter was running around trying to wait on all the tables outside which left us waiting a little longer than preferred for our food but understandably so. The steamed crab soup dumplings were sooo juicy and flavorful and you can tell it’s real crab. The roasted duck soup is very filling, yet light, especially good for a colder day. The pineapple cheese wontons were an interesting yet refreshing addition to my favorite dim sum dishes list. The soup dumplings were juicy and full of soup, perfect texture and flavor!
A short distance from the hotel was Hells Kitchen. We walked the dirty streets looking for a decent eatery. Not having any idea as to cuisine, we stopped at the Dim Sum Palace on 46th St. We took a chance on this establishment and chose to sit outdoors in their makeshift eating area. This gave us the opportunity to people watch as we had our meal.We ordered the dim sum appetizer which consisted of eight samples, beef with garlic sauce, and rice All the dim sum appetizers were quite delicious. The beef with garlic sauce was prepared well, with no extra oil at the bottom of the dish. We ordered hot green tea to drink. Recommended establishment, I would go again.
This place is hopping on Sunday afternoons! But they fit two of us in easily and got our food out incredibly fast. The shumai and duck dumplings were great! The short rib was delicious and cooked well (watch out for bones!). I love pork buns, so we had to get those and they didnt disappoint. Quality food and prices were fair.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME okay sorry not sorry for this review. We drive there because they tell us it will take 10 min. It takes 30. We receive wrong order but already have driven back (and cant eat wrong order because it is chicken feet). We call and receive CORRECT order and they don’t apologize or give us anything to compensate. Our food is f-being cold even though they said they just made it… maybe microwaved?? There’s a photo of the chicken feet someone else is missing. Besides my wrecked afternoon- Dumplings tasted good but if you are to eat here, dine in because takeout is unreliable.
This place is something I came upon exploring NYC and it was so delicious. The service was excellent. The food is delicious and even though I didn’t have much interaction with the staff at all it didn’t matter because they were so expeditious with getting my food out and clearing the table as soon as a dish was empty. I’m very satisfied with my experience here and would come back.
If stars were for the food only, it would be an easy 5 stars. We sat for nearly 15 minutes before they even brought water and menus then we waited another 20 mins for them to take our order. If the restaurant had been busy Id understand, but there was only two other tables. The servers walked right by us several times and didnt even make eye contact.But...the food! Delicious!
I place and order for to go two times in these place. It is really good. The service not as much. The front lady not sure whats going on with her but she needs to be nicer. Further than that food it is really tasty, you dont go wrong with the classics Kung Pao Chicken ( it had it a lot of nuts) my favorite was Beef pepper, the chicken fried rice had a lot of flavor really good. The Mongolian beef has more mushrooms if you are a big fan of them you like it. The beef was so tender and lot of beef. Good job on that ! I will order again from this place just tell the lady on the front desk to be polite with the guest.
We loved the Dim Sum here. Note that they dont use the steam trays- you order from a menu. The portions are typical for Dim Sum, which is good for sampling a number of dishes. We also ordered fried rice and a vegetable dish off the regular menu and the portions for those dishes were quite large. Everything was served hot and freshly prepared. The restaurant was very clean when we visited as well.
Higher end than the typical dimsum place you might find elsewhere. Top tier, mouthwatering dishes. Really hit the spot. One of my favorites is the sticky rice steamed in lotus leaves, but absolutely everything was scrumptious. Cocktails were also very good.My one complaint is the soup dumplings were served without a plate underneath the steamer, and they broke or were broken when picked up, causing a bit of a mess.
With 50% off weekdays from 3-5 (unless it’s a holiday week), you can’t really go wrong with midtown half off dim sum. Just don’t get the soup dumplings. There’s no soup in them. The roast pork buns are just okay.Don’t get the duck spring rolls. Most everything else was great!!
Cozy place, very clean and profesional. Loved the service and the food was very very good. It is not your traditional Dim sum place but I like the idea behind it, its something totally different. Prices are competitive. Good portions with every order. I will definitely come back again!!
I drove down to midtown, I drove and was able to find plenty of parking at 5pm on 46th and 8th with the meter allowing 3 hours to park. I was in the area for a meeting and the Hong Kong Style Dim Sum was secondary since I parked in front. Small but long restaurant with plenty of tables with a small bar with stools with a fun bartender. The waiter staff were on point. Excellent. I ordered the Taro Pork Dumplings with a Spicy Beef Noodle Soup. The food was prepared well. My palette is not a fan the Hong Kong style Dim Sum that I ordered but then it was 1st time and choose quickly. Ill be back when in in the area and try again.
I absolutely loved this precious gem! The wait time was about 10 minutes for dinner on a Saturday night and its in a great location. Authentic cuisine at an extremely affordable price. The service is also very good as the waiter took the time to recommend his favorites and give feedback. Already planning my next trip there!
Great place with amazing Dumplings. We went there on a Saturday evening and the place was quite packed so we though that we might have to wait for a while but no, they were quick. Their service if quite fast and they were able to get us a table in less than 5 mins! Now when it came to Food we ordered a variety of Dumplings and Springs rolls and all were great. We mostly ordered vegetarian and shrimp dumplings and spring rolls. Shrimp Dumplings, spicy Mushroom Dumplings and Veggie Dumplings with Peanut were really amazing were as Buddhas Dumplings, Shrimp Spring Rolls and Veggie Spring Rolls were ok so I wanted to give 4.5 stars for food but their service makes up for the half star lost. Quick service and friendly staff. Will definitely recommend if you like great Dumplings and will come back again to try other Dumplings which we did not try.
Surprisingly good Chinese food (dimsum) and salted fish fried rice. Garlic fried pork ribs were perfectly crispy, xiaolongbao had good broth, siewmai was well seasoned, XO carrot cake was yummy. Even the sauces (ginger and hongkong chili sauce) were on point. The only drawback was the cost. The dimsum meal cost about 30+ per pax? Was surprised at how much it cost though we didnt order too much. The puer tea was pretty good but cost $4 per pax?Still, the food was good and authentic. Will come back again, though I wished the price was more reasonable.
Expensive but I guess this is the only Cantonese dimsum place in the theater district. It is located in the west side of 8th avenue (restaurant street). They wanted to charge $8 for a pot of tea, so we asked for free hot water instead. Their Pan fried turnip cake was good. Crispy garlic spare ribs was crisp but watched out for the bones. Steamed spare ribs was excellent. Their soup dumplings weren’t as authentic as the 456 Shanghainese cuisine in the Chinatown. When soup dumplings arrived, they all squeezed together and leaked out the juice when you picked up the dumpling (my guess was that they didn’t use the dimsum cart to deliver to your table and the waiter just held the steamer to the table.) They also don’t serve with shredded ginger in the sauce. The chicken feet was good and not too greasy. They have unisex restroom. But there is a guy sat on a chair and napping next to the restroom. It looked odd but I guessed he might be the valet parking attendance taking a break.
Not many other dim sum places in the area to complete with, but if you have the time, definitely go to Chinatown or even Queens, where you can get the same quality or better food for cheaper. We spent around $30 per person on a meal that would normally cost $20 in Chinatown. They dont have trolleys going around since the area is small, so you pick the items you want off the menu.
Dim sum palace is a chain of dimsum restaurants, there is some variation between the locations but not a whole lot. If dining solo I recommend getting ba sampler so that you dont break the bank. The sampler has a great variety of dumplings. The ribs and sticky rice were great and would get again.
For those who cant make it downtown, this place is a pretty good alternative. Dim Sum is legit. All the flavors are there. Dim Sum is made to order, there are no cart ladies. Noticeable difference: Beef rice roll has strips of beef not minced beef. No beef balls, egg tarts or baked roast pork bun available. Other noticable difference, was not pressured to eat and go. My party was able to eat, chat, and sip tea comfortably without a sense of urgency from staff or the establishment to rotate the table for the next guests... very different from downtown.
Oh so good! I grew up in this area and always went to Chinatown for dim sum in the 80s. We come to NYC about once a year and always look for killer XLB. Until now, Joes Shanghai has been our go to. Not anymore. The XLB here are almost as good but the other dim sum are also excellent, unlike Joes. The service was also very gracious. We will return again and again.
If you’re looking for dim sum, you’ve found it. But if you’re looking for CHEAP dim sum, you have to keep looking. This place serves quality dishes — flavorful, springy texture, piping hot — but there are definitely better deals in Chinatown. However, this place does serve some pretty cool cocktails, so if you’re looking to have alcohol alongside your meal, this might be the place for you. If you do come, get the xiu mai — that was our table favorite :)
I found the food average, no better than most other placesDECEITFUL tip suggestions are what really bothered me. I can handle bad food, I can even handle bad service. But what I cant stand is any attempt to rip me off as a guest. Its wrong and deceitful.Large chains like the Cheesecake Factory and others have been caught with this and have been sued (although I dont know if successfully) Theres no reason for a smaller restaurant not to get called out for this.
Worst service i have ever had.The employees are in a bad mood and hate their jobs. The boss asked for a large tip and waited several minutes in front of our table for the tip. I told her that the food was disgusting and the service bad - all she said was „ok“.DON‘T GO TO THIS PLACE! It’s also very dirty.
We had a large group of 7 and made a dinner reservation. Tried some appetizers and each had a meal. Our favorite appetizers were the spicy cucumbers, mushroom dumplings and sausage & cilantro dumplings. The meals were delicious but don’t come with rice- had to order that extra. Service wasn’t the best with keeping drinks filled. Overall good experience and good food!
If ever was I asked what Id like my last meal on earth to ever be, Id ask to eat a bajillion egg custard steamed bun. Heaven on earth! Seriously.3-5p happy hour 50% off selected dim sum menu. Still lots to choose from.Great service.Food was quick and delicious.Again, the egg sweet steamed bun... GO GET IT!
I was disappointed with my order. Maybe they don’t care as much when it’s a take-out order. I specifically asked for BONELESS chicken, like I reiterated it more than enough. Then I asked for an order of shrimp fried rice. I then asked if there was some sort of combination dish & was told no. So my order totaled $28 & some change. Ridiculous. What I received was a very small container of fried garlic chicken with the bones in! They were small pieces & barley a hand full with the bones! Needless to say, the meat on it was way past minuscule. I waited @ least 20 minutes, I ended up sitting at the bar & having a drink. The rice was a lunch size container with about 5 shrimp, no type of veggies, scallions, nothing. I checked the receipt, $17 & change for brown rice. Shocked! Even for midtown, that’s high, specially for the portion. The food they were bringing to the table looked yum so I didn’t stay to examine my take out order & by that time, I needed to get back. I will not be going back & certainly won’t be recommending it!
I went there after finding it on Yelp, after arriving from State College, PA on Megabus. It was a rainy night in Manhattan, but the staff were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered hot and sour soup to start, then pork and chive dumplings, seafood dumplings and pork Xiao lung nap soup dumplings. All the dishes were excellent and the service was very attentive. I will bring my friends to this restaurant soon.
Pretty good dim sum spot in Williamsburg. Can’t say I was superrrrrr impressed but everything was tasty and up to standard. The service was how you expect it to be at a pretty authentic Chinese restaurant. The chicken steamed dumplings were the best. I usually love soul dumplings but didn’t love them here.
Service is great. But they charge $8 for tea which is clearly a rip off. My Korean husband who thought the 8 was 2, and ordered it.As a legitimate Cantonese who eat Dim Sum enough to write a book, it is unacceptable but I can’t do anything because they did price it out right. Beware of one of the obvious yet unnoticeable tourist trap. The real diner would understand this is just a convenient location to have lunch, definitely not the best to have dim sum.
Dim sum palace was a great find. Convenient location and outdoor seating with heat lamp available. Wide selection of dim sum, including a few vegetarian options. The tofu peanut dumplings were delicious. Also had juicy pork buns, steamed shrimp dumplings and scallion pancakes. Yummy in my tummy. Went to the bathroom and it was spotless. Also encouraging to see lots of Asian customers. Good sign of good food.😁Would recommend.
This place doesn’t disclose the all the meats they use in their food. I ordered roast duck wonton soup and no one ever said the wontons have pork and shellfish inside. I am allergic to shellfish. They were rude and didn’t want to fix the issue. I will not be returning and recommend others check out the many other and better spots on restaurant row.
I was so looking forward to trying Chinese food from NYC. The restaurant was one of two, recommended by the front desk of my hotel. Ordered my standard test dish Mongolian Beef. This is what was delivered. I have never had Mongolian Beef that was remotely similar to this. Also, the paper nor on-line menus indicated that the dish was “hot & spicy” or I would have ordered it “not hot”. It contained copious amounts of red pepper flakes (it was like eating lumpy liquid fire)! So disappointed. Clearly I chose the wrong restaurant.
We came to this restaurant for a meeting. my friend recommended this restaurant. Well, it was very nice. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we had a fantastic feeling. The meal was delicious. We enjoyed every moment and we shall absolutely come back again. Warmly recommended.
Tried the mapo tofu and it was very good. Decent amount of spiciness but I could have had a bit more heat. Just a tad too salty but very slightly. I confirmed it was vegan. It would have been nice to see which items on the menu were vegan, there was only a vegetarian section.
A great member of Hell’s Kitchen’s Restaurant Row. Sat outside in the pleasant outdoor dining area- covered, thank goodness, as it rained while I was there. Had veggie spring rolls, which were light & crispy, although a touch oily. Tried the grilled shrimp with walnuts, served with an XO sauce and brown rice- Awesome! Bottled Tsing Tao & Sapporo; wish they also had Asahi & Kirin. Will definitely dine there again.8/26 Repeat Visit: Shrimp Rolls- very good. Home style stir fried fish w/minced pork & green beans- Awesome! This place serves everything hot & fresh, except for the cold beer. Still a favorite.
The best steamed pork bun we have ever had. The sticky rice was excellent as well. The only reason we didn’t give it five stars is because they didn’t offer several of our favorite dim sum offerings. But what they did have was great tasting. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Dim Sum Palace, located on Restaurant Row on 46 St between 8 and 9 Ave, offer all day dim sum as advertised by the name. This review apply strictly to the dishes we ordered and is not meant to be used to judge all dim sum offered by the restaurant:The GoodSeafood Shumai - from the taste to the texture to the size of each shumai, this dish is GREAT! Loved every bite of the mix of shrimp and fish.Shrimp dumpling - Good dish. The shrimp is fresh, which is key. The wrapping, made of rice flour, could come off as bland. Feel free to dip it in soy sauce for taste.Shrimp roll - think spring roll, made half as thick, and substitute shrimp in the middle. More like a stick, this roll is full of flavor thanks ti the well seasoned grounded shrimp. The So-soChou Zhou dumpling - it was fine, it didnt skimp on ingredients, but once tasting it it feels like its missing something. Cant put my finger on it.The... well...The Green Tea sweet dumpling - the sweet part, the black sesame center, is good. But the wrapping, which is made thick on rice flour and then deep fried, came off as tasting too much like oil and undercooked. It was disappointing, but shout out to the waiter, who offered to take the dish off our bill once we brought it up and he saw for himself it was undercooked.I also ordered hot and sour soup and Singaporean rice noodle stir fry:Hot and sour soup - delicious and perfect to whet the appetiteSingaporean rice noodle - Love the shrimp again and nice touch with the ham, loved it. Could have done with the pork, though, which is too dry for my taste but a slight blemish for a strong dish. The serviceOutstanding. Temp check and write down name for contact tracing is done for indoor dining, necessary given the new world were living in. On to the actual service, dishes came on time, waiters are attentive, best of all when you order a pot of tea we never had to ask for refill, which again goes to the attentive service. Great work. For this visit, I would recommend the following:Seafood shumaiShrimp rollsShrimp dumplingsSingaporean rice noodlesAnd if you want to order a pot of tea, chrysanthemum is a great choice.
For dimsum, this place is a little overpriced. I paid 40 dollars for four dim sum, bok choi, and fried rice. To be honest, the fried rice was my favorite part and most hated part. It was simply so oily that it reminded me of cheap restaurants in Shanghai, but at the same time, it had a flavorful taste of home.Anyway, the dim sum were your standard dishes - there was no extra wow factor, but my stomach was filled at the end of the day. The soup dumplings were typical, their skin wasnt the most delicate and I couldnt really taste the crab meat.Ive come here twice, and I think both twice I walked out with an eh.
Came in for a quick bite around 3pm-- wasnt super busy but service was attentive. We ordered the sticky rice, congee, chicken soup dumplings, and pork and chive dumplings, and everything was delicious! Portions were good and everything was reasonably priced. We were raving about the soup dumplings for the next two days.
Fast service!Came in at 1030pm and wanted a quick bite. Each dish came out in stages and hot. Great quality dim sum. Loved the BBQ pork the most.Lots of choices and good prices. Place was very clean and staff was friendly. Great night stop. More room in the back of the front looks full.
Portions here are great! Their Dim Sum is no joke, had me dreaming about going back and having some more days after. Their food is fresh, real, and authentic. To top it all off their staff is incredibly nice and even help you with choosing your order. I immediately fell in love with this place.

2022-06-10I have seen Dim Sum palace many times on 46th Street. It looked nice I finally went in and was pleasantly surprised. I went through the menu and ordered several different dumplings that I havent had before. The dumplings were cooked appropriately, the taste was good and quite filling. I spoke to some of the staff and the Manager outside the Restaurant. I asked questions that I liked my answers I received which helped me select my food. Dim Sum Palace also has 2 gender neutral Rest Rooms. They have liquor bar for the patrons. The Restaurant has an outside seating with a number of seats undercover. I am sure when I am in the area I will go there again to try other options on the Menu.

2022-04-13This is hands down the best dim sum I’ve ever had. I’ve only had dim sum a handful of times, but my boyfriend who is Chinese also really liked this place. We’re from Chicago and we think NYC has better dim sum. You guys are very lucky to have delicious dim sum!

2022-04-23The best Chinese food I have eaten in the last 6 years in the United States; the traditional pork fried rice is so delicious I could eat it every day; all fresh, hot, delicious; the truth is that you will enjoy everything you ask for; We went at 11:00 PM and it was full of people, however everything was fast, we didnt take long to order and the food arrived at our table in 5 minutes.

2022-05-31It was our second time dining here and I was very happy with our experience. The fried rice in the picture was so good, I believe it was seafood fried rice or something but I’d order it again. Gotta love their quick and efficient services.

2022-01-16We ordered a generous amount of dumplings, buns, and soup dumplings. It being a very cold day (-2 with wind chill!) we also ordered chrysanthemum tea; they brought us the whole teapot and cups to share which I really loved! The food was delicious and so filling, especially the chicken soup dumplings. I would also recommend the Szechuan mushroom dumplings!! Overall, service was quick, attentive, and they had no issue answering any questions we had. I will definitely be coming back to have some delicious tea and food. I think this would be a great place to go to have a great conversation over food- the atmosphere is perfect for grabbing lunch with a friend or co-worker.

2022-05-03Dim Sum Palace is definitely a hole in the wall. Ive tried their egg custard buns, chicken shumai buns, etc. I must say the wrapping is super thin and melts in your mouth. They have other entrees but mostly they specialize in dim sum. I would definitely come here again. Its very quiet in here and not busy at all. They also finished my order in less than ten minutes so if youre starving, its not much of a wait.

2021-12-05This is one of my favorite Chinese dim sum restaurants Ive ever been to! And Ive been all over the world including to Beijing, China! The Peking Duck was phenomenal! The soup dumplings and dim sum were top notch! I highly recommend it 👌 👍

2022-06-29Delightful experience after Theatre. Highly recommend. We got there right after Theatre show (10pm or so). We checked various places on the same street and this seemed like the right one. Great decision. Small or large appetite, this is the place.Service is extremely efficient and not rude. Their greeter was on top of knowing order and number of people waiting. We got our table after a 10 minute wait. He even told us he was assigning a table to someone who came in after us as they were 2 and the table was too small for us. Nice touch. Waiter was very efficient, food was delivered quickly and well prepared.Cucumber salad is really fresh and spicy, a great balance for dumplings. Our favorite dumpling was pork barbecue. Steamed shrimp with the extra spicy sauce was also great. Star of the night was General Tso Chicken, one of the best we have ever had. Chicken was perfectly cooked, had a nice marinade, not greasy at all, well balanced crisp on the outside and nice tender chicken inside. Broccoli was crisp and flavorful. Nicely done. They have cocktails too and I tried the Lichitini, nice Lychee martini with Titos.A great experience and we look forward to coming again!

2022-05-25Been here a few times for dim sum. It’s the closest thing you’ll get to dim sum from Chinatown. The food comes hot and so far it’s been good. Plates range from $5 to $15. Enjoyed trying different things. I’ve had their turnip cake, and veggie congee (if you ask them to make it) in the past. Recently tried their green tea balls which was tasty and scallion pancakes. If you’re not up for dim sum, they have other stuff too. Clean, fast and attentive service. Will keep coming back whenever people are in town to visit.

2022-05-24This is an incredible spot compared to other dim sums that I have eaten in major US cities and Beijing. I was excited to eat here after reading the reviews and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Ordered Sapporo for beer as they were out of Tsing Tao 🤦🏽♂️ Shu mai, pork n chives, Shanghai juicy pork bun (soup dumpling) , cucumber w/spicy Sichuan and the best of all, spicy Sichuan pork dumplings ( don’t remember the exact name). The spicyness of the soup is at a whole diff level and took me straight to nirvana. Smother your dim sums with hot oil and enhance your taste.Incredible meal, great price and great experience. Will def come back here when I am craving dim sum.
