Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in other cities:
I got a seat at the bar and a quarter pork ribs. The ribs were just on the end, so each one was fairly small. The barbecue sauce was fine, but not particularly distinct. The Mac & cheese had really good flavor. Overall its a fine place for barbecue but maybe not the best in Brooklyn
In this day of disgruntled workers, Dino BBQ is a gem! Super friendly staff who acted like they truly cared that you are happy with what you ordered. Outdoor seating that is pup and family friendly. They have a new hush puppy appetizer that the waitress suggested and it is a must try. The truffle oil is the crowning glory of the dish. I’m from the South so it’s hard to measure up to Southern bbq. Thus, the ribs were just ok. However the hush puppies, fixings, and beer selection made it a “return again” dining stop.
Visiting Brroklyn on business and found this little gem next to my hotel. Got seated right away. Place was clean, atmosphere is good and staff was friendly. The food came out quick and it was terrific! I have to say I was impressed with the BBQ! If you are in the area, this place will not disappoint.
Great outdoor dining space, great service, great food. We are from Texas and can be a little judgy when it comes to BBQ. This place did not disappoint! The BBQ chicken was tender and juicy, the fries were great homestyle fries, and the Cajun corn was something yummy and different! The BBQ fried rice was also an unexpected but delicious surprise!
This tasty BBQ cant be beat in NYC. We went Friday at 6-7pm. The meat and sides were terrific. 👌🏼 Our server probably had too many tables because after our food got delivered, he didnt come around again to follow up. After finishing our food and waiting over ten minutes just for the check, we had to flag him down. We immediately signed but still had to wait, so I just got up to have the cashier run the credit card.So overall, go here for the food, but you may need to be proactive to get attention.
The service was fast and efficient. Johanna P was a friendly waitress. The food was as always excellent. The one advantage this location has over the Dinosaur Barbecue on West 125th street is that there are 4 microbreweries within 4 blocks. This location serves at least 1 beer from each of the 4 microbreweries.
As an upstate college student (dinosaur bbq started in Syracuse, NY), visiting dinosaur bar b que was always a treat, a day trip from Binghamton to nearby Syracuse for some barbecue. The Brooklyn spot doesn’t disappoint on service or decor. It’s beautiful and quite large. The food here was kind of … lukewarm as if it had been reheated and not reheated well… I might have to try this place again on a busier time slot.
Been to all locating in the New York State!Would seriously recommend anything on the menu if you like BBQ. Pulled pork and ribs never disappoint. This location didnt have salt potatoes and even looked at me funny when I asked for it as a side (i didnt realize it wasnt on the menu and that disappointed me).Great selection of local beers from around the block (literally 4 breweries with 1/4 mile radius), around the city and state.
I have to say that the most amazing thing about Dinosaur BBQ are the people that work there. I was there last night with my five-year-old niece and things ran late with busy Saturday night and I have to say right from the young woman at the reception desk that knew we needed to sit and eat to our server that was on top of crayons before we even got our code off even the person that bussed our table that was fun and quick to get us organized! They all knew that things were a little sketchy at our table with a toddler and they took excellent care of us. They are really on top of everything in the room, aware of every situation and did everything humanly possible to negate a toddler meltdown! Thank you to your excellent beautiful intelligent aware team.Oh...and the food was good too! 😉
Their brisket nachos and their beef nachos were excellent. They were a bit reserved on the nacho chips were overall I would order them again. Their Sangria was weaker than a hard lemonade. Their Spicy cucumber salad was soggy. How do you make soggy cucumber salad? Ugh. The ribs were soft and tasty but the skin was burnt. Not worth the money. I wouldnt dine-in again. I will definitely order Their nachos as a take out.
I thought everyone loves this place but...if that impression is true i dont think we went to the same joint. The food was so bad i left almost all of it on the table. (I was raised never to leave food on my plate and am one to dutifully eat until its gone. Ive never just left food like this before.) Love me some coleslaw and was very excited to see it come out, but it was literally just cabbage lathered in mayo. With exception of being greeted, only time i could get service was if I initiated contact. Wrong thing was brought out twice. Its a barbecue place...that leaves you to fend for yourself with only the napkin that comes in a plastic silverware set? I have no idea what they were thinking. Tea was really good though. Please consider that the reason there are stars at all.
They tried to squeeze a party of 10 at a table for 8 and we had to split our party and insist on a second table. Our non alcoholic drinks with ice were hot, the alcoholic drinks tasted non alcoholic, and we received our food cold. Ribs were great, brisket and chili were great, potato salad and greens were not that great, and the fried catfish was hard. Nachos and wings were very tasty. Our server Zee was great and serviced both of our tables well. I’ve been to the Harlem location years ago and was excited to try the Brooklyn location. The best part was interacting with our server, Zee.
Overall great experience; food is good too.I sat with some friends on the outside tables, right next to the street. From my experience that day though, the tables could be cleaner and less stickier: there was clearly some barely noticable dried food debris stuck to our table. Ive asked to have our table wiped down, and it was just quickly gone over with what looked like a wet rag, so its no wonder.Id still go back for the food though.
As far as BBQ goes, this is my go to place. The food here is top notch quality and as good as traditional Texas BBQ. The ribs are always extremely juicy and big, full of traditional flavor and culture. The seating is very cozy and proper, it makes you feel like youre in Texas. 10/10!
On my list of places I wanted to try so I finally got the opportunity to go there for my sons birthday. We went there with a group of 5 people and Im not sure what happen but the service turned out to be pretty bad. We started with appetizers that never arrived. One main dish finally arrived and the next main dishes didnt come out until 10 minutes later. The food came out cold because it was probably was just sitting there. Really disappointed!!
Its probably best to make a reservation. My family of 4 and I were walk-in around 5/6pm, but the group after us were told a long wait time because they had to save tables. They have limited indoor seating and tables out doors under an awning. When you go inside they have a temperature check station and hand sanitizer. The staff wear theirmasks properly and request you do the same unless you are seated at your table. The food was really good. I enjoyed the brisket the best. I took a star off because I got the chimichurri steak, I asked for it medium, it came out well. It wasnt the best steak. My father got the brisket. It was delicious. I loved it on the nachos. I loved it by itself. Just get the brisket and greens
My first time at Dinosaur I had the plater which comes with half chicken, ribs and pork belly.I have to say it was done well, seasoned very nice especially the chicken it was very different for me I loved it... my only let down was the BBQ sauce I was not excited about it nor was I disappointed, it was just there...Just my opinion
Such fantastic food--and my family knows bbq. Can recommend both the brisket and pulled pork plates. Impeccable mac and cheese and moist cornbread. The best fried green tomatoes I have had in decades. Friendly and efficient staff. Fun outdoor sidewalk seating with a good playlist running. And just steps from our hotel. Will eat again before leaving Brooklyn. Thank you!
Got the family meal to share among 4 people. We were ambitious and hungry, and thought we could finish the whole thing. Ended up packing 4 boxes of leftovers- thats just how good the portion sizes were! Nice waiters and waitresses, food came out fast, and outdoor seating was heated.Good service :) favs were the Mac & cheese, ribs, and brisket!
I know the last meal I want as a Texan is bbq, but I do enjoy bbq from other states. And if the spot is highly recommended, I get really interested.Let me say I enjoyed every dish here. The deviled eggs are a great starter. Theyre fluffy and the spice is just right. I also had the prime brisket sliders and theyre fulfilling. Pair it with the Summer Sangria and its happy hour.Thy hubs and I also had the brisket cheesesteak, baked beans and simmered greens. The cheesesteak has jalapeños, so its spicy. I love spicy. The beans are great and the greens were okay.I definitely say visit when youre in Brooklyn.
Who doesnt like great BBQ?! Dinosaur Bar-B-Que definitely serves up some good eats at a reasonable price. With four people, we were able to get a variety of items from the menu. We were able to kill some time at the bar while waiting for our table. The reason for four stars as opposed to five is that the hostess told us it was going to take 30-40 minutes for a table..there was half a section open. I didnt get that at all.
Delicious BBQ place with big portion sizes. Came here this past weekend and ate outdoors with some friends, the service was great. Was a little disappointed they didnt have the brooklyn summer ale yet, but nice variety of local beers on tap. The BBQ bahn mhi was delicious, definitely recommend.
This place was amazing.. all the flavors and atmosphere.. everyone was so great but our server Teddy was awesome!! Very attentive, great attitude and his professionalism was on point.. thank you so much and cant wait to come back!!! Thank you again for accommodating a large table!!
The only issue that I have with this restaurant is the struggle for parking. I had to circle the block twice before I found parking , but after about five minutes space opened up. Asides from that the decor of the restaurant is beautiful. The architect designed the restaurant to have down home country feel to it . There are artifacts everywhere and you are sure to be mesmerized by the various trinkets on the walls. The aroma that comes from the kitchen is absolutely mouth watering. My date and I ordered the swag sampler for two which had deviled eggs , ribs , wings and fried green tomatoes which you must try. After finishing the sampler I ordered ribs , Mac and cheese , and the side salad. My date ordered the pull pork , ribs , Mac and cheese and a cucumber salad. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection , and my date said the food got his seal of approval . All in all I absolutely love this restaurant and I definitely plan on coming back.
Came here on a Wednesday night in a group of 13 for some team bonding. We had a reservation at 8 but arrived at 7:30, so we hung out at the bar (there’s some open seating tables as well as counter seating). It was a quick walk from Kick Axe team excursion that we had, so you may consider pairing the two up. We split a lot of food, but there were a ton of leftovers at the end. My thoughts on the food:-Nachos were really good - I liked the cheese that was on it.-Cornbread was dry.-Mac and cheese was good and had a strong, peppery taste.-Ribs were tasty -very well seasoned and-Poutine: the gravy wasn’t the best but it’s thick but fries were on the thicker side -Tequila was strong but don’t take them before dinner.-Brisket was nicely seasoned and tender.-Salad is just your typical side salad and a good alternative for vegetarians/vegans.Service was on point and nice. They were quick to get us our drinks when we asked for them. Bathrooms are available and there’s one that’s ADA. They do take credit card and there’s no WiFi. Overall it’s a fun BBQ place that’s good for big groups and would be a good place to chow down on some BBQ.
Amazing BBQ with a great pick-3 plate options where you can chose 3 different BBQ meats. Comes with two sides and corn bread. (Their cornbread is a must have, one of the best I have tried). Prices are very affordable and staff is very friendly. Great place for lunch, dinner or for some beers and bites.
It was my first time here and surely Ill become a frequent client. I just ordered the sample platter to try a little bit of everything and definitely they surpass my expectations. The beef brisket, pork ribs and wings were amazing with a wide variety of sides to choose from. Awesome food, service, location, music and drinks!!
This is my second time visiting this location. I unfortunately didn’t write a review the first time.I gave them a second chance, to see if they’d listen to their patrons who voice their concerns and opinions in person but I guess they don’t.Both visits the meats were at best luke warm.I had the trio of meats: Pork Belly, Brisket, and Pulled Pork. My Best Friend had the same except he got Ribs on the side, and my fiancée had the same as I did but the smaller version (trio sampler?)Pork belly - typically what comes to mind is moist, tender, juicy, and tasty! Sadly, they fell short. It was more of a thick cut bacon that was burnt, and hard.. yes, I said hard. I don’t know how they managed to do that - and it wasn’t even warm.Pulled Pork... more like mushy pork. It was cold, and smothered with a sour tasting bbq sauce. No more needs to be saidThe ribs... once again nothing what you want ribs to be was this. It was burnt, and a hard to chew/rubbery.The brisket was their saving grace. It wasn’t warm but it was fall apart tender, and juicy. The sauce they dump on top doesn’t help. I wish they would ask if you’d like it drenched in it.The Sides were ok. Harlem potato salad was the winner that night. The corn bread was cold and hard. The AK chili is literally just beans in sauce. The mashed potatoes were meh. The Mac and cheese was good according to my little god daughter. She enjoyed her cheeseburger slider from the kids menu and the older one enjoyed her chicken fingers (I’m sad that was the highlight)The server was polite, and accommodating.Their entire staff is wearing mask and gloves. Thoroughly cleaning tables after patrons leave. Distance between tables. This will be my last visit here. Two strikes and you’re out in my book.Whoops! Almost forgot the deviled eggs were good.
Really nice barbecue place in Brooklyn. Prices are fairly reasonable and portions are large. We went around 4pm on a Saturday afternoon and seats were easy to find for a party of 6. We ordered the 6 person meal, the mixed appetizers and a large plate of pulled pork. The 6 person meal has 3 sides and corn bread and includes 1 roasted chicken, full rack of ribs, 1 pound of brisket or pulled pork. Mixed appetizers include deviled eggs, wings, ribs and fried green tomatoes. The restaurant is fully wheelchair accessible and service is ok.
This is my first time here and the food was very good one of my favorites is the lamb sliders. If your looking for an amazing BBQ spot you must come here. All the food we ate was really good even the manger goes by to every table to make sure everything is ok. I would recommend any one to come and try some BBQ. They give you a good amount of food on your plate I was half way done and completely full so it is definitely worth the money!!!
Although theres a wait usually, it is well worth waiting for. Service is fast, and the meat is delicious. The meat on the ribs falls right off the bone! The only thing I can say is that I wish the macaroni and cheese was more cheerier, and had less pepper. The burger was also good! I definitely will return again another day! There is outdoor seating and a bar you can sit at to watch sports while having a drink.
Omg, the food was absolutely amazing! The service was great. All of the hosts were so helpful. And my waitress was just the best. I love the fact that they sell their wing sauces too... its great that they also have vegan options so i can go with any of my friends. I will definitely be a regular.
If you haven’t tried them out yet, then you’re missing out big time. The food is absolutely delicious. The meat is tender, juicy, well seasoned, everything is full of flavor. We tried the pork nachos for the appetizers. It’s to die for! It’s a MUST!!! I can’t wait to go back. We ordered the full rack with 4 sides and couldn’t get enough of it. Nom nom 🤤
I want to start off by saying their nachos are to die for. The wings are so good, sauced or unsauced they are great and pair it with fries. Now I gave it the rating that I did because some friends and I went there for the first time to celebrate a birthday and the service was terrible. The waiter walk over to us with an attitude as if he was upset about working at work. He did not introduce himself. We asked for things that were never brought out like ketchup for the fries. My friend asked for a kids menu and in a judgemental way he asked for you? My drink (water) was done and I wasnt offered a refill. For someone who dines out pretty often this was a bad experience. The mac and cheese which I heard great things about was not good. It is not homemade and there was some cheese left not melted. Kind of like it was popped in the microwave and pepper was sprinkled on top. Voila, cajun mac and cheese. If you decide to dine there asked for Devon, we watched him service other tables and were so jealous and when he realized we were unhappy he came over and asked how he could turn things around. I ordered food for my children and the chicken was not all the way cooked.
MMMMMM... Those ribs were TASTY!I always have wanted to come to this place due to the fanfare ive heard from friends and acquaintances; and they didnt disappoint! I had a combo of pork belly, brisket and ribs. All 3 were great but the ribs just were the clear knockout of the bunch. I went with my girlfriend, her sister and brother in law, and they all were delighted leaving with a full stomach plus a smile on their faces as well. They also have a pretty decent beer and liquor list if your looking to get a nice cocktail. Definitely will recommend this place to friends and family if they want some good bbq in Brooklyn.
Great place to go. Prices not bad and good is good. We got an appetizer sampler plate so we tasted multiple things before we started. But everything was good. It doesnt take long for us to get seated. The waiter was nice. They have lots of TVs to watch a myriad of games. They have a bar. And it just smells like the most amazing bbq pit ever.
Ribs x 12 to share - good value for money. Tasty, good size, cones with 4 sides of choice.Good atmosphere.Good service.Only negative- the person that greets you and chooses where to seat you - never asked if you have preference or if you are happy with the table. Not nice.Anyway, i dont want to ruin the review because of that one unprofessional staff member.
Came back within a week. The ribs are so so yummy. Falls off the bone and 2nd time I ordered the BBQ chicken which was like woohoo...tender and juicy inside. U get two sides and my favorites were baked beans, black beans on rice and the Cajun corn. Lots of beers to choose from and huge area to hang - al fresco, a huge hall like dining area with bar and screens showing sports and another huge dining hall that is much quieter without the screens but the artworks make up for it.
GOOD BAR. MEDIOCRE RESTAURANT. SLOW SERVICE.This place is pretty busy and if you arrive there at night you’ll find that it takes about 20 minutes to get a table and then some 15 minutes to get food, so be prepared to order some drinks while you wait or spend time at the bar. They serve the same food at the bar and that’s where I sat, since I didn’t want to wait 20 minutes for a table for 1. The only caveat of seating at the bar is that next to you there could be a loud drunk person with his pink-dyed hair girlfriend (who also happens to be drunk) and they make out between drinks and wings and they bang the bar every time they order another drink from the bartender. Top this off with Aerosmith loud in the back and you’ll get a whole “I’m in a bar, not in a restaurant” experience. That didn’t make my dinner more enjoyable. The menu seems good enough for a BBQ place and the smell attracts everyone, but I tried to be good and ordered a “White and Black” Salad which is NOT A SALAD but black beans and white rice with a tiny bit of lettuce on the side and a piece of BBQ meat on top, sitting on top of a piece of cornbread. You can choose the BBQ that goes on top of the cornbread (Pork, chicken, brisket). The black beans and the pulled pork are delicious (Although not awesome) and the cornbread is Ok, but since it’s cornbread and for $0.75 you can order a side order of cornbread, well... Might as well endulce yourself.
You can’t go wrong with their dry rub rack. I’m not a huge fan of their sides (my friend loves them), but their cornbread is just heavenly. Ok, not as mind blowing as Sylvia’s (but I mean, who does it better than them?). But I digress....Super safe outdoor seating....probably not great on gusty or rainy days. There’s are roofed seating areas. Have a great selection of local beer, including ones from Threes Brewing located in Gowanus.!Management! Please get a plumber now. Your restroom faucet didn’t spew any hot water (as of May2) when I was trying to wash my hand. Luke warm at best. I need to wash hands with warm/hot water (and naturally, soap) during CoVid.
Food is good but none of the people making your food are wearing masks in the middle of a pandemic but they are having full conversations and joking around over your food while they put it together. They also forget to put literally everything in your to go order. At first it was utensils and sauces now it’s whole food items. Hopefully it gets better!
BBQ here is legit (brisket, ribs, pork belly). I didn’t like the potato salad and I really didn’t like the chili. The chili tasted like it had a lot of red wine in it- really weird. But if you are in the area this is some good BBQ to have. Is it the best BBQ in Brooklyn? Probably not but it’s really close and it’s good enough if you want BBQ and you don’t want to wait on a huge like for other BBQ spots.
Excellent food! We went for an assortment, but the ribs were where it was at! Those alone are worth returning for. The mac and cheese was a solid choice for a side. While we were seated quickly, service was a little slow. Our server disappeared and we ended up having to snag a random one walking by to get out check.
Wanted to have some ribs/brisket today and thus headed down to this joint. Previously I had visited Mighty Quinns and left unimpressed. Luckily todays meal was a level higher. My missus opted for the pulled pork/brisket sandwich and I the rib/brisket/pork belly combo. Food was good but could have been a bit more succulent. Service was good and the bill came to a touch above $40.
This place is where you want to go for a great southern BBQ spot in Brooklyn. There menu does differ a bit from their Harlem location but still great nonetheless. The pictures attached was the family style BBQ which can feed four then some. The live blues music along with the rustic art work added small touches to make this place feel absolutely authentic. Would recommend for friends and family ⭐⭐⭐🌟
Shanelle was our server and the mi ure we walked in and checked in with the hostess, who btw was also so quite friendly. Shanelle just showed up with a big smile and was so happy go lucky. With that, my guest and I ordered some appetizers, the one with rib, chicken, deviled eggs and green tomatoes. We were hungry and it was quite good hitting the spot. Because I of Shanelle and her friendly attitude, we went for the full rack of ribs and the sides. We gorged on the food. All the while Shanelle was cleaning up and keeping our table clean and was so friendly in conversation. We almost wanted her to sit with us. My guest had to leave and I stayed behind to settle the bill. Shanelle kept me company as well as take care the other tables. She apparently had worked a double shift the day before but she put her best face forward and took of us! Nothing better because when it comes to customer service, she was certainly customer centric! Hope she is still around when I return.
This place... THIS PLACE, Does BBQ right. They are a southern type BBQ place and its just a great place to be here especially if you are with friends, I think it improves the atmosphere. They have great options if you are here with a +1 but for groups they have great options as well. We ordered a plate that serves 5-6 which was about $70. We split it between 7 and the food was more than enough. And we even took some home. If you order any meat by the pound it will deffinetly start getting pricey. A side of 1lb of pulled pork was $16. Stick to the menu and enjoy the food. This place also makes some pretty decent drinks, and has a good selection on Tap
BBQ Is a very subjective food item depending on where youre from. Being from Southeast, this isnt exactly what Im accustomed to. That being said, its pretty good. The pork St Louis style were the best thing I tried. They were very tender and had a pretty good smoke flavor. The sauce was also good. The pulled pork was more like what youd find in the Carolinas with the exception of the sauce. The sauce was more of a tomato based, unlike the mustard vinegar type sauce you find in the carolinas. It was good. The sausage wasnt something I cared for. The quality was fine, just wasnt my thing. The mashed potatoes were certainly real not instant of course and of good quality. They were not creamy at all. Pretty much just very basic mashed potatoes. The sweet tea was as authentic as it gets for southern sweet tea. it was far too sweet for my liking but when mixed with half unsweet it was exceptional. The service was also pretty good. bottom line, its a great place for a group because of the large selection of items, though I didnt take note of any vegan or vegetarian choices; what vegan are vegetarian would go to a barbecue restaurant anyway :-). Also, the Harlem location is very difficult to get into on the weekends I am not sure about the Brooklyn location.
Really pleasant, laid-back ambiance and flavorful, well-portioned food. I thoroughly enjoyed my $22.50 3-meat platter. I was especially satisfied with the pork belly. My girlfriend got the veggie burger and found it bland and crumbly, but was nevertheless pleased to see a vegetarian section at a BBQ place. She really enjoyed her sides though, especially the Harlem potato salad. We sat outside and the service was prompt, despite the restaurant being busy. Overall, pleased with the experience and looking forward to going back. Reasonably-priced, decently-portioned, and tasty BBQ can be hard to find in Brooklyn, but this place succeeds!
Recommend getting in early and placing a booking cause this place is banging! Food quality was excellent and the prices are awesome! Managed to get squeezed in with a big group so thanks for the amazing host. Also shout out to Pete for being an awesome waiter, is absolute fire at his job. Will definitely be back when Im in town again!
Unfortunately this isn’t my favorite bbq joint. The ribs were a bit salty, too charred and sticky. The sides were also lack luster and not seasoned well—was it to balance out the salty ribs? Not sure but I was greatly disappointed with the food overall. However, my mom loved this place. She’s never went out her way to compliment how good the food was to a waiter!*The only side I liked was the cabbage cucumber salad because it had a nice tangy kick to it.
Hate it. Definitely not for me. My family loved it. We got the sample of 3 different meats with fries and rice and Mac & cheese sides. The rice and fries were ok/good but the Mac and cheese nasty. The waitress was really nice and the place is nice too. Very casual. Everything tasted smoki to me the soda, the cheese lol. Not for me I want it similar to BBQ but its not the same at all. Oh but my sisters Burger was realllllllyy delicious. Have fun !😁
Good flavors at reasonable price. Compared to Texas bbq, the meat is on the tougher side, and the sauces are more spicy than sweet. Strongly recommend the corn as a side. Interesting bonus: the Brooklyn location has a nice dog parking box outside for your four-legged child 😊
Great place for BBQ food. Brisket sandwich is excellent. Burgers are on point. Atmosphere is very BBQ like (wood everywhere, with a kinda old style to it), with music in the background (general music nothing offensive). If you want take out you can get it but be aware that it will take minute (about 30mins) to get it. Its waaaaaaay better to catch them on a off day in the afternoon. One final thing: you wanna know a place cares about you? Check out there bathroom 😂 its rustic, and I liked it.
First time at Dinosaur Bar-B-Que and I must say Ill definitely be coming again. I absolutely loved everything from the service, the atmosphere, the food and the smiling staff. They have real southern food here unlike other BBQ places Ive tried before and the meat is well marinated and cooked to perfection. If I couldve given 10 stars I would.
Dinosaur rest never fail.. it’s really good!! We always pick the whole baby ribs rack in bbq sauce!! I don’t remember the name but is really good.. Flavors are amazing.. This time service was good, complete, they attended us fast and with courtesy.. Our first time ordering desserts and I don’t have something wrong to say! Of course I’ll be back!!
Summary: Despite the distance from the original restaurant in Syracuse, the Brooklyn branch delivers the same high quality and consistency in its food. The various BBQed meats are always tender and flavorful while never being dry. The reviewer recommends patrons to go as a group and order the Family Stylin BBQ to sample multiple different meats and sides at the same time. The service is excellent and the restaurant is always lively.Must Try: Brisket, Ribs, Fried green tomatoes, and Mac and Cheese. Also recommended: Pulled pork, Chicken, Poutine, and Fresh cut fries.Avoid: N/A⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Outstanding, worth a special excursion
In a word: DELICIOUS.After thrifting at the nearby L-Train, we decided to explore the neighborhood. A coin toss led us to the right, where the awesome facade of this restaurant caught our eyes (and the heart of my dino-loving travel buddy). As vegetarians, we figured there wouldnt be any good options for us, but decried to get closer to take a few pics. I went in to ask about veggie options and was blown away to find out they had a separate 100% VEGETARIAN MENU!!!The ambiance was so good, the staff were outright amazing, and the food... The food was indescribable. Smoky, rich, DELICIOUS! We couldnt decide which bite to take next. The sauces were all beyond comparison. The next time were in NYC, were eating here first day! Non negotiable! Keep up the great work! 😁
Big place to have fun and you can havegood time especially when you get friends like big team the service for making food its take so long its the only thing I dont like it I hope you reach my Message to The manager you have to devote a person For delivery So you can make better service.
This restaurant had a nice rustic vibe. I loved the chandelier made up of hangers and old bottles. The food was delicious. We had the nachos and wings, and barely had room for our entrees when they arrived. For those who drink assign a designated driver, have a donkey and enjoy for night. Shoot out to Teddy our server. You were awesome !
Great spot to come for a family style meal. Brisket and pork were great, chicken a little boring. Loved the baked beans and cucumber salad (that isnt that spicy) wish the corn was made with fresh corn and the corn bread was a little dry. Devon or Devin was a server and he was wonderful.
So this is an updated post. I recently ordered some because I was in the mood to treat myself in midst of quarantine.I ordered the combo 1/4 ribs & brisket with Mac n cheese and collard greens for 20 dollars. I also ordered some deviled eggs as well.Everything was just okay. I think it’s a great bang for your buck as it’s a lot of food for 20 bucks. Would I order again? Probably not.
That lamb hiding under my ribs was the stuff dreams are made of. Tons of food for a reasonable price. The sides were nothing spectacular but the ribs and brisket were delicious. Not my preferred pulled pork (but perfectly tasty). Service was standard and attentive for a slow afternoon. All in all I will probably be back! Great for groups since they have ample indoor and outdoor seating.
Seating was fairly quick for a Saturday (5pm). Service was friendly and efficient. Spicy cucumber salad is unique with hits of ginger throughout. Cornbread (not dry) and baked beans (not too sweet) were also good. The combo plate is a great deal (2 proteins and 2 sides). Ordered the Brisket & Pork belly. Pork belly is not something I find in many BBQ spots and it was great. Portions are generous and that habanero bbq sauce is something to appreciate.
The food is good, honestly nothing to really call home about, but I would recommend the brisket. The nachos are a good choice too, although they could ease up on the saltiness of the chips. The beer selection is also good, with various options including from some local breweries. The cocktails are decent too, the rum punch will creep up on you...All in all its a nice and chill place for dinner and drinks after work. Family friendly too.
The taste is ok. The problem IS the temperature in these meat was never hot , the ribs good taSte but dry, IS like is the Same seasoning for all the meat. Chicken was dry 😒 the brisket was good and nice temperatureCorn bread was cold ,hard bland taste, Sweet ice tea WAS great , cajun corn 🌽 love it , Same thee French fries good taste, our waitress he make us feel very good he deserves the 5 star 🌟 he smile all about him make us feel welcome was 3 of us we spent $107plus, $22 tip
My fiance and I were craving BBQ. This satisfied our craving for sure! Server was very nice and patient with us. And the food came fast.We ordered the 1/2 family sizeCorn bread was a bit on the dry side for me. But everything else was good.Heres a picture of the updated Menu!
Great place service was good food good depending on time place is busy. Family day time night not sure about that. Great to catch up with friends and chill if everybody got a family come during day.Asked the staff what was good and they were more than happy to share really a decent nice place little high on the price I think but good luck finding better food and service in a place where they dont know you.Take out is nice too not slobed all in one plate. Will recommend and will return.
I have been to the Harlem locale, loved it. I am an events coordinator and often get catering to our office from the NY location. The food was not so great, okay- It was bad.We ordered deliver eggs ( too much mustard, vinegar flavor), The fried green tomatoes were so oily. The ribs were hard and full of fat; the shrimp appetizer was overly salted, the food arrived at room temperature at best, the mashed potatoe with gravy were cold, the gravy was a film!!!!Beyond disappointed with the food.We ordered cocktails, they were good. The server didnt check to see if the food was okay. Actually mentioned, thats how the deviled eggs are supposed to be and disappeared.Wont be returning. Wont be ordering catering anymore for corporate events.
Really loud! Its great for groups, or a least double date. The only reason Im give it 3 stars, its because Dino BBQ has to differentiate from a guest or employees. Thats weird waiting over 23 mins (had my timer on). when I finally saw the waiter I was confuse. BBQ was good, not the best i ever had though.
My overall experience was excellent. The service was prompt and my server was very polite and attentive..he kept checking to see if I was satisfied. I had the ribs with choice of two sides..food was tasty and worth the money. This will always be my go to barbecue spot. Loved it.
Maybe my expectations were too high since I’d heard good things about this place, but I thought the food was just OK.The bad: The meat wasn’t so flavorful or tender. The collard greens had too much vinegar and no spice (I’m not so experienced here, but I thought they were supposed to have a kick). The fried green tomatoes were a split review: I thought they lacked flavor and I prefer a cornmeal breading instead of batter, but my significant other enjoyed them. The good: The cornbread was legit, the server was very friendly, and the price was reasonable for the amount of food. It’s very difficult to find good bbq in NYC, especially if you’re not a native and have had good bbq before. I would perhaps try Dinosaur BBQ again if I happened to be in the area, but I definitely would not make a special trip.
If you love good, Rib coating, comfort food, BBQ , this place is for you. me and a group of 4 were staying nearby for work and eat here 4 nights in a row. Everything from there burgers, to there traditional BBQ was outstanding. My co-worker also said it was some of the best cat-fish hed ever had. Compliments to the staff on consistently good service, and the kitchen for the amazing food.
I havent been here in years and missed it during the pandemic. Very good barbecue. I had the brisket sandwich which was very tasty with jalapeno, pickle and not too heavy on the bbq sauce. The mashed potatoes were great. Im very picky about coleslaw, and it had a little too mayonnaise for my taste, but good overall. If you have kids, they have a great kid menu and with generous portions for only $7.00. In fact I was a little jealous. Ill be coming back.

2022-02-19Went to this place a Tuesday in the afternoon, the attendant was great, with such a positive attitude, the atmosphere is fantastic, the people is friendly and they suggest what they think is better to eat, drink… and the food is really great, the bbq flavor is delicious, I went with my wife and ordered a whole ribs rack with 4 sides and some beers. It was so good that we ate almost all of it including the sides. The ribs where delicious and we couldn’t decide which side was better because all of them were great. There is a great variety of beers, my favorite was the Lexington, my wife also loved it even though is like 8% alcohol. In resume, I will be back and I recommend this place 100%.

2022-05-19Was in town and heard this place was good. Triny (sorry for spelling) from the bar was our server. She was absolutely outstanding. She made great drinks and gave us great food service too. We we’re there during happy hour, 4-7. They had great specials on food and drink. The bbq was really good, actually better than I expected in NYC. The pickles were the best I’ve ever had…seriously! Of course Triny brought me more when I remarked on that. The place had it all, great service, solid food, tasty drinks and good “feel.” I wouldn’t hesitate to go back and highly recommend them.

2022-06-12The food here is consistently good. The meat is always smokey and good. The combo platter is the best deal for food, either 2 or 3 meats and 2 sides with a cornbread you cant go wrong. The sides were delicious and just as good as the meat. Definitely worth the visit, unlike other BBQ spots this place isnt obnoxiously overpriced.

2022-06-02Wow wow wow. Ive eaten BBQ all over the US. You can follow my reviews through about 34 states. It was the 3rd best brisket that Ive had in NYC. And it was really delicious. Juicy, Flavorful, and the texture was melt in your mouth. I also enjoyed the pulled pork and the ribs are pretty good here also. But I just had to be clear that the Brisket was stand out amazing this visit. The service was also totally on point and the atmosphere was comfortable. Reservations can be made by phone and they are advisable in my opinion. They get busy. Im also leaning towards advising getting there during the early hours for the tastiest portions.

2022-03-26We tried this place today for the first time. By far, the best BBQ joint in NYC. Everything was delicious and smoked & cooked to perfection. The servers are awesome and very friendly. We can’t wait to go back!

2022-06-21Came to Dino- bbq on Father’s Day at noon a+1 minutes for 2 reasons. 1) The brewery around the block doesn’t have food options, and we didn’t want to have any beers in an empty stomach. And 2) Because our daughter loves dinosaurs and Mac-n-cheese. Unfortunately the Mac n cheese we got for her was too hot. Even when it was cold. She said “yucky” but her palate isn’t quite refined yet, so what does she know..it was terrific. As was the other food that we really didn’t need.

2022-01-27We’ve dined at Dinosaur BBQ a few times now during summer and early winter. They have great outdoor heated booths. Usually get the 1/2 Family Stylin Barbecue with brisket to share which is served really quick - enough leftovers for another full meal at home. This visit we got:1/4 Rib platter - with dirty rice and mashed potatoes which I think are the best sides. Great value! Be sure to ask for a middle piece of the rib so it’s not dry. Ribs have the perfect amount of sauce & tang. The cornbread is a tad dry if you wait too long to eat it but still good with the right amount of sweetness.BBQ Brisket sandwich - good amount of tender brisket. A bit too tangy for me but my husband enjoyed it & ordered at our next visit. Very generous side of fries cooked perfectly crisp. Hits the spotTook home an order of K-Pow Korean BBQ wings which were excellent. Comes with a barbq Gochujang sauce which is great for any meat.Service is excellent with waiters coming to check if everything is ok 1-2x after serving your food. Highly recommend checking this place out.Update: went for another visit & got the Catfish platter with 2 sides. Great crunch & not too thickly breaded. Awesome combo!
