The staff is SO rude, particularly security. They act like you’re there just to waste their time or something. If you ask a question or ask them to help explain the process in any way they act like you’re stupid and get incredibly impatient, even when you come prepared with all the forms filled out and an appointment made online. Ive had to come on multiple occasions now for the same issue and not only has it still not been resolved, but you also have to deal with attitude everytime you’re there. If I could give them less than one star I would. Avoid this place at all costs, save yourself the trouble and just go to the newburgh location.
Went to amend my license with an endorsement. I was in and out, the ladies at the booth were patient and really nice. Only downside was the security guard in the front trying to be a super cop extraordinar, Extremely rude and unprofessional to the customers. Turning customers away, not helpful what so ever.
Although they were short staffed and dealing with long lines of walk-ins and appointments, all DMV folks were pleasant and efficient. The security guards were apologetic for the wait times. The DMV lady who took care of me was exceptionally kind, pleasant, and efficient. I wish I had noted her name...the kindness and efficiency threw me off!I left there thinking I should bring them all coffee or something...trapped in those small spaces for hours dealing with an endless onslaught of customers...someone at DMV should give them a break! Right now, only two Orange County DMV offices allow in person transactions-it overwhelms these folks!
If I didnt have to give a star I wouldnt. My son waited over 2 months for this and was denied the ability to test. Our car windshield had been struck by a rock over the weekend, we specifically asked the responding trooper if it would be a problem for the test. He stated with the size and location it would be drivable. The testing facilator said the state trooper doesnt know the law. Then the facilator became aggressive and violent with another parent, to the point that he actually pushed the kids father right in front of him. I immediately called Albany and filed a formal complaint. Fortunately Albany was able to assist. The road test is scheduled at a different location for tomorrow, with a note on my sons permit to allow the road test despite the small crack that is well out of line of sight. The man working in Middletown will be suspended without pay for a minimum of 30 days during an investigation. He refused to give his name, but it will be easy to figure out who it is, the only white guy working at the testing site today...
Ive had to go here 4 times in the past month, and after today need to write a review. This is the worst DMV I have ever been to (and Ive been to a lot of DMVs). The staff are a complete joke -- each worker tells you something different about what you need to complete your transaction, so they can keep you coming back week after week. While bureaucracy can already be hellish, especially during a pandemic, the people here (even the managers, Jen and Amy), do their absolute best to make your experience of getting important life admin things done completely and utterly awful. This place is shockingly terrible. If you can go to any other DMV, I would advise it.
There was a little confusion at the door. There were people on line either with no appointment or half an hour to 45 minutes early. No social distancing but people wore a facing covering. When you reach the door, there is a sign that tells the visitors No Cell Phones Allowed Inside. This should be posted on the website. It is difficult to return to your car to leave your cellphone.Once inside, it was convenient and easy. The staff was friendly and polite. You must double check you have all the necessary documents and arrive no more than 10 minutes early.They do take your temperature, wand your pockets and search your pocket. All done very professionally.Good experience and very little wait.
My mom and I stood in line for over 2 hours trying to get inside for a new id card. The officer that was at the door he was extremely rude. The none appointment line was from 9am-3pm he didnt even look in our direction to let any of us in. After standing so long trying to get in we had to leave due to the fact I had to get my daughter from the school bus. They should have appointments only if they are not trying to get us any assistance.
The Middletown DMV is the worst DMV that Ive ever been to. Despite taking appointments, they decide to send nearly all of their employees on lunch at the same time. I waited an hour and a half past my appointment time and had to leave with at least 5 people still ahead of me, because I have other appointments and cant cancel my whole day just to accommodate their ineptitude. From now on, Ill make sure to either ensure the Middletown DMV is my only appointment for the day or just go to the Newburgh location.
I found the staff at the DMV in Middletown not only professional but efficient and very pleasant to work with.My advice to anyone going here is to come prepared by going online first and filling out all necessary documents, make an online appointment and you will be in an and out in no time.
They are pretty well organized, with all thats going on with COVID 19. They check your name at the door and then you go in when there is room for you to enter following the guidelines. They are a little slow but not too bad. My 15 minute appointment took about 35 minutes.
Showed up early for an appointment, still had to wait beyond appointment time. The lady who helped me was rude and didnt know what she was doing- she spelled my name wrong and had to redo my license. Also probably shouldnt give an eye test through a dirty plexiglass. I know whoever is in charge probably doesnt care but this DMV is the epitome of a bad DMV experience.
Made my appointment 3 months prior, because that was the soonest I can get, then they give you an attiduide the second you walk in, navigating the website is horrible. They handed me my paper work that I needed but oh no figure its the the right one. Now I wont be getting my stuff done that I needed to, my wife walked in and told me that employees are screaming at the people in there. Realy good repesientaion for ny state
My first time visiting this DMV location. Normally I use Goshen, but Covid has it shut down. Sure the online appointment scheduling is a hassle, but once I was actually in the office everyone was more than helpful. They told me exactly what forms I needed and went above and beyond to make sure I got done what I needed to and didn’t have to come back at a later date. My only advice to others is to check the website and have your documents ready! I did see a lot of people get turned away because they “didn’t know they needed to bring their ID” and whatnot. Just be prepared and patient and everything will run smoothly.
The office was ran very professionally considering the inconvenient covid 19 rules of letting in a little at a time. The office should provide its customers something to protect them from the harsh weather instead of waiting on line in the snow & rain. I felt sorry for the women waiting in the rain with their babies. DMV could put up a canopy/sunshade or something
I put five star because every person that have attended me have been very excellent and polite now I take a star out because there was this one lady look Spanish with black hair light skin lady with glasses she was very rude and unprofessional she spoke nasty to me and didnt let me even apologize in which I was going to because I took the general knowledge test and I got up for another number she called me back and was nasty about me getting another number. Mean while the lady who attended me was very nice and under stable, but this lady have to go. She needs to look for God so she can feel at peace with herself.
I waited in line for 20 minutes to be told that there was no VIN number on my bill of sale so I would have to come back tomorrow and try again because they were closed. Very rude and sarcastic with no emotion at all. If you hate your job then quit! Then as Im leaving because Im very upset the security guard sneakers at me and almost got handled for trying to act tuff. Horrible service but unfortunately I have to return tomorrow to complete this process but if you can avoid going later in the day do so because they are surly and discussed later on in the day!
Very friendly and informative staff. Ive never had to wait long for any transaction and I have a CDL A which usually requires way more attention to detail than a regular license.. have never seen any disgruntled customer or any of the usual Drama that you would witness at other DMV offices elsewhere...
Took days to finally get to speak to someone over the phone. Called for days and all it was was beeping. THEN finally got my appointment and went on time. Only to be yelled out by the lady because no one told me that I needed to print out the paperwork and have it filled out before coming. Was never told anything like that over the phone. Extremely rude. Trying to call back to make another appointment and now still can’t get through. This place is a JOKE.
Well just like everyone else I’m trying to get in touch with the office but I just keep getting a busy signal. I understand what’s happening in the world, on the other hand, it’s been happening for 4 months now. Your call volume is through the roof and yet you aren’t doing anything to help it. What are people supposed to do? The DMV is not helping with anything at all.
I just needed my name changed on my license/registration. I have the enhanced drivers license and I was concerned I wouldn’t be able to change names that day because I didn’t have my new social security card. I tried to explain this to the woman to get my ticket but she dismissed me and cut me off multiple times. She told me all I needed was a marriage certificate. She proceeded to just shove papers at me and give my ticket. I waited an hour to get called. The women behind the window attempted to update my information and then told me she unable to because my social security information wasn’t updated in the system (even though I had a letter from social security saying everything is good to go). I expressed my frustration to her. She then told me I was lucky I was even allowed to be seen that day because license pictures end at 4. I then told her I had been waiting since 330 and tried to get this addressed before I saw her. Would give 0 stars if I could.
Worst place on earth. I cant even give them one start. This is what Orange county Ny residents have to deal with. Annie Rabbit sitting in her office and dont even bother address all the frustration residents going through with the Middletown office. No professional or ethical sense.
Terrible very inconvenient, as Americans are faced with so much uncertain daily. Phone always has busy signal. Showed up and in my face....just keep dialing!!! Rude. .and said...people are making appointments as if..we have nothing else but to keep dialing all day...still busy signal for Middletown ny. DMV. Shame on you.
This place is very unorganized . Ive traveled enough to have experience with several DMV locations. This place gave me a 2 hour wait for a 4 minute conference at the Window . Everytime a window would clear up a random person would walk up and put an additional 30 minute pause without waiting their turn. Theyre under staffed they could hire a few more people and open up more windows. .
I would say that my visit here has been the worst in my DMV history. Its very small Inside. No kiosk machines and the line to receive a ticket moved pretty quickly. The young lady was very informative. However while waiting almost 1 hour and 20 mins I observed a few people just walking in and going to the Windows being helped while ticket holders were held up because there wasnt any organization. It seems like after every transaction some employees could take up to 5 mins to call the next customer. I will not return to this DMV.
I’ve been trying to call for an appointment since 6/23 and been calling from the time they open to the time they close. They purposely put their phone on the busy signal which is very upsetting and unprofessional. People have important matters to take care of that they’ve been trying to take care of before the virus!!!!! I had an appointment before the virus and was told peoole who have appointments would be first priority when they reopen and clearly they lied!
Had to wait over two hours to get a drivers licens. Once my number was finally called, the staff member behind the counter seemed impatient, was unhelpfull, and rude. On a positive note, they do have a ticket system so you do not have to stand in line, but the order the numbers are called makes no sense. The first staff member I talked to who gave me my ticket and made sure I had all the needed documents was very nice and polite.
If you want an enhanced license it takes hours because they let other services take priority over you. They explained because it takes a long time to process your paperwork. However the whole process took 6 minutes once I was finally served. A gentleman who was renewing his license only waited about 15 minutes. Very unfair system.
There are a lot of complaints on here, but my experience was just fine. Moving from out of state, I had to get a NY license and my registration switched over. Even tho their computers were down at first, it was quick and painless. Go on their website, figure out which forms you need to fill out and what documents you need to bring, fill out the forms before you get there, bring everything with you, and you’re good to go. It’s not rocket science.
THE best DMV that I have ever gone to. Very quick service for a DMV. Took off one star because we had to go back a couple of times in one visit due to some clerical errors. Didnt want to rate the whole DMV based on one persons mistakes, so I give it four stars because the overall experience was great.
Middletown motor vehicle the security guards that work there need to be a little bit more professional with dealing with public when customers come to the motor vehicle the security guard must learn respect we are people not animal dont talk to us as customer the way that security guard spoke to me simple asking question and was insulted by the security guard
So far it’s been an hour and a half since I got my ticket. I’m only here to change my name. It may go faster if the clerks didn’t pull their friends up to the windows and actually followed the tickets. Witnessed the same clerk do this twice with a person who came in much later than I did.
There was a small wait but nothing more than you would expect. Extremely helpful and friendly, even though I had some problems with my paperwork the clerk was kind and helpful. Walked me through the process and saw me very quickly when I got the right paperwork. Best dmv experience Ive ever had.
This office is a huge improvement over the others I have been in over the years. The best part is you get a number and then can sit and read a book or do your texting while sitting down. In the past you had to pick a line and stand in it - often for a very long time. The staff is also very friendly.
Security guard is extremely rude. Was extremely sarcastic and very disrespectful. To the Spanish speaking patrons hed say come here stupid, and get to the back of the boat. Very disturbing. He should be retrained or removed. This is the one with the moustache that goes to the side of the mouth.
The staff is friendly for sure. But NY State is a ridiculous bureaucracy and serves the needs of few people that work. This DMV, like all DMVs is understaffed. You wait far too long for a clerk. At least in this office they speak intelligible English. Go to NY City offices if you really want to see how your tax dollars are being wasted.
It is hit or miss with how long you have to wait. Ive been in and out in under 10 minutes and then Ive had to wait over an hour on other visits. I try to do as mush as I can online to avoid having to go in. At least the location is convienent. Who loves the DMV though, really?
They need to try answering the phone once in awhile and they had me jumping through hoops each time telling me I need this or that after going to the website AND reading the paperwork I got. I went to another office and they didnt even ask me for one of the forms of ID. Ive never had issue with DMV I always felt they got a bad rap but I told the rep point blank I could see why people get mad at the DMV.
This place is horrible. It will take you 3 hours to renew your registration. I wonder how long it will take to register a new car or get a new license.Got my ticket and waiting for my turn went outside for quick smoke and security guy locks the door on me saying we close lol showing him a ticket still the same we CLOSEEEEELOOKS LIKE HE HAD ENOUGH TRYING TO GET HOME I WONDER IF STATE KNOWS ABOUT THEIR EMPLOYEE BEING MISERABLE
Go here!! They are nice as can be, helpful, and quick!! I had a boat that needed the title changed due to a death in the family. There was a ton of paper work - original title had to be located, death certificate, transfer papers, etc. Yonkers DMV acted like it was a burden to help me figure out what was needed. This DMV... nope, they talked me through what I needed. We got everything done. Yes it took two trips, and I live over an hour and a half away. Id rather drive that for their customer service than go to a DMV in NYC, Yonkers or anywhere else. Albany, take note of these great people!
Never had a problem, the officers are very helpful and knowledgeable of the forms, at the most 30 min wait, good staff. Go to DMV IN PUERTO RICO AND YOU WISH YOU NEVER DID, STAFF JOKING TALKING TO EACH OTHER, THEY LEAVE THE WINDOW WHILE YOU ARE WAITING STANDIG FOR ONE TWO HOURS JUST BECAUSE THEY WENT TO LUNCH 🤤😲😦
No different than any other DMV , slow, unhelpful, paper intensive, no support for email, fax only (and even then limited), no sense of urgency. I guess if you are a gov. agency and there is no competition then why make the effort to even think about customer satisfaction.
BEST DMV Ive been so far! I went to the Rockland County DMV thinking it was closerfor me, and it was the bigger mistake ever!! It took me 3 Hours to finally discover I had the wrong documents for my transactions, something I could have avoided by going to Middleton DMV. Middletown DMV knows how to work and theyre really quick!
Ive called several times for 3 days straight no answer and no voicemail system really unorganized if there was a choice to choose no star I would very unprofessional its hard to get them on the phone including the dmv in port jervis as well no answer not even a voicemail system
Every time I go there the employees are so rude to me and this time I walked in two people were there I was supposed to be third about twenty people later I said something they said my number still hasn’t come up so I just left . I will never go there again absolutely terrible

2022-05-03Made an appointment, hoping it wouldnt take all day . There are 2 lines to go through before you even get a ticket. Fortunately, my appointment was early enough that it didnt interfere with my time getting to work, but still a waiting game .

2022-06-18Have gone to Middletown a few times no big issues until today. The lady there.. I wont mention who.. was rude and condescending and also wrong about an issue that I had... so I had to and get fixed at another DMV...I wont be going back here.

2022-01-26Good experience. I was in and out in about 30 mins with an appointment and it would have been quicker if I remembered to fill out a form but they waited patiently for me to fill it out. Ive had a few bad experiences with the DMV but this one was excellent. Definitely recommend this DMV.

2022-01-23Everything went relatively smoothly. Had an appointment, was in and out in about 30 minutes. Only real complaint is the acoustics. Hard to hear though the clerks so close together and everyone overcompensating for masks by speaking louder instead of more clearly

2022-04-09The experience at the DMV in Middletown depends on who you deal with. I had a really unpleasant experience with one employee and a wonderful one with Matt. Anyone can have a bad day, so overall I can say that Matt saved the reputation of the agency.

2021-11-04Made an appointment online to visit today to transfer liscense plates over. We didnt know this until the security person told us, but we were in the walk in lines at first, and we went over the the appointment line. highly suggest one makes an appointment and be prepared, especially if one has to work. like in my instance i can now go to work at 2 as planned. went in there, they highly advise to turn cell phones off, but i bet some still keep theirs on vibrate. Anyways, went up to the first window. person seemed a little rude and sometimes it is hard to hear when one is wearing a mask. (side note too: i wear hearing aids and can use an app that has a mask feature, so if i was by myself, i would need my phone!) Since we were about the 1st ones in, we were served right away. Off to window 8 we go, and this person seemed nicer and more happier. went through the transaction smoothly. Everything went well. Thanks!

2021-04-12After waiting outside in the rain for about 10 minutes it came to my attention from the other patrons waiting as well that at least 4 of us all had the same appointment time. After checking in I was called up to the window were I was kindly greated and immediately realized that I had a very fast and efficient worker for which I am truly grateful! The transactions went smoothly and fast! I wasnt inside for even 15 minutes! It was wonderful!
