Unexpectedly good Italian ristorante. You know is legit, when the chefs and waiters speak Italian and you see in the menu Pesto di Pistachio which you know is native Sicilian and is only done in small paesini in the magical island. Star with Mascarpone + Pistachio Pesto over warm crostini. Amazing spaghetti alle vongole, perfectly al dente full of flavor and cavatelli with house-ragú. Great wine selection, favoring local vineyards and brands. Definitely a most in the Williamsburg streets around Bedford Avenue. Perfect for a date night.Follow @destination_food33 for more reviews
D.O.C. Wine Bar is a very delicious, authentic Italian restaurant. There are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. They do take reservations and are very busy on the weekends. However, we were able to put our names in on Saturday night and got seated within 20 minutes. They have more outdoor seating then they do indoor. I definitely recommend eating at D.O.C. Wine Bar.
Great place!! Very authentic Italian/Sardinian food. Great Italian staff and an excellent selection of wine and food. Their wine list is extensive and inclusive of all budgets. They also can accommodate many requests if you call ahead of time (such as a prefixed aperitivo). Reservations recommended and definitely a dont miss spot in BK.
Always great food and experience! If you had no idea what orange wine is-try it! If you want to try reeeeeally good deserts -try it! Panna cotta is to die for!I don’t eat meat, but my friends sweared that’s the best meatballs they ever tried. They also have vegetarian version of them , which would be a good choice as well.I cannot stressed enough how important to get their pistachio pasta !!))) I promise that’s be the best pasta you’ve ever had and , possibly, would ever have )))We, actually, came back last time only because of that pasta)Actually, everything that we’ve ever ordered there was insanely goodPlus, the service is terrific.Add an amazing atmosphere and a lot of Italian talks around , and you’ll understand why I gave it five stars)Enjoy!!
Authentic Italian food and amazing service. I felt like I was transported to Italy during our dinner here. We were so happy to find a dog friendly restaurant to bring our puppy. Our server brought out a water bowl and made us very comfortable.Highlights:- beautiful, rustic decor. It really adds to the ambiance!- delicious food: the Sicilian bread is crispy and savory, more of a crispy/cracker texture which was unexpected but incredible flavor. I also ordered the vegan meatballs (amazing, especially with their marinara sauce)I can’t wait to come back and try out more of the menu!
Ordered bread and a thin cracker came out. We asked for bread and it was brought out to us in a bag? Although every table around us was given bread in a basket. We were charged for the cracker even tho we didn’t eat any of it.The wine and food was excellent. Easily would be 5 if the bread situation didn’t happen.
Excellent Italian food, with a Sardinian bent (and a Bolognese chef - and yes, they have mortadella!). The wine list is *excellent*, which isnt surprising as the owner also has a wine store nearby :-)It is particularly italian in that everything tastes *good* (nothing will blow you away, but, OTOH, it is always *good*, and will make you come back)And oh, yes, they have excellent coffee (espresso that is. and it isnt sour!)
Always amazing. Love the fregola, ordered bread with oo and what came out was thin crispy cracker like bread? Was not too fond of that for dipping- kinda defeated the whole purpose of bread and oo. The wait staff are nice and energetic. I would like to see cocktails on the menu. Also please bring back the octopus!:)
We had a spectacular dinner and are about to bring family for a second meal of our NY visit. Delicious Sardinian pasta, superbly tender and flavorful lamb and a wonderful flatbread with sardines and spicy pepper made for an awesome meal, and we enjoyed an excellent Tiramusu for dessert. My wife doesnt normally drink red wine, but my Sardinian red was so tasty that she had to order one. Superb wait staff-- friendly, attentive and knowledgable (and Sardinian).
Absolutely delicious, 100% authentic Sardinian restaurant! The owner, Claudio is welcoming and friendly, very committed to give his customers the best dining experience. The menu is carefully selected and the food is top notch. Dont forget to order one of their yummy desserts - best Italian cheesecake in town! And ask them for some Mirto to finish up your meal in true Italian style.
YAHOO !!!!!!DOC Wine Bar is a great restaurant and now they offer take out and delivery service!I tried it this evening and it was absolutely great!I ordered the chicken with mushrooms in white wine sauce and the roasted brussels sprouts on the side. After you pick out your items you choose a delivery time. I picked 6:30 PM. and arrived on time ,The food was delicious. The chicken and mushrooms had a side of mashed potatoes that were yummy. The brussels sprouts were done to perfection.I have always loved DOC and I’m so glad they are doing their best to stay in Business. What was really nice was that the food was so good we felt like we went out to eat!You can also order wine with dinner which makes it doubly special !HIGHLY RECOMMEND —- DOC!
We came here because the place we tried to go was a 45 minute wait. Well I’m glad that happened because this place was amazing! I had the ravioli which was super delicious. The other people in my party enjoyed their pastas as well, and we shared some great Sardinian wine. Cozy and inviting place with an enormous wine selection and great food. We will be back!
Fairly intimate, old world rustic atmosphere. Excellent wine. Had the tonno/veal app...very interesting smokey delicious but a one timer. Had the pistachio pesto with goat cheese secondi on some type of granular home made pasta that was incredible...like mac n cheese for angels. The ribeye and lamb chops were cooked perfectly and were delicious. Service was incredibly attentive and polite without being in your face. Wonderful spot with delicious rustic fare. 4.5 stars.
Been here 3 times. First time was awesome and brought friends back the other 2 times, but it never lived up to the expectation after the first visit. Not sure if the chef changed in the 2 year time period, or management, or they just got lazy but the quality of food and service really declined.Had chances of being a local standby, but not worth visiting unless other options in the area are not available.Youll have a fine experience, with food thats at least a 7/10 but you wont be wowed.
Definitely my favorite restaurant in Williamsburg. Delicious bresaola and very tasty pasta (really al dente, The same I got in Sardinia)... authentic Italian cuisine! Good vibes in this place only ;) Very friendly staff, especially Ezequiele, I’m so glad you are back! Also I would like to thank the manager Andrea for keeping this place very genuine. I felt like home, I felt like I was in Italy!I deeply suggest this restaurant. If you are in Brooklyn you must stop by and enjoy the food and the atmosphere.Bravissimi ragazzi!
This is one of the great restaurants of Williamsburg. The food is authentic Italian (Sardinian) that you wish you could get everywhere. The atmosphere is rustic and charming yet lively. The service is attentive and unpretentious. Great for date night or a group of friends/family.Favorite things on the menu include: flatbread, vegan meatballs (just trust me), malloredus, trofie, fregola, cavolfiore. Tiramisu is crazy good.
AMAZING!!! This place is a dream come true!!! I went with some friends the other night and I was sooo happy to have vegan cheese and wine options....... it gets even better...... the cheese is from the Uncreamery, my favorite local vegan cheese. It was nice to unwind after work and enjoy good food and good company! Next time I am trying the vegan grilled cheese sandwich with my fave, ghost pepper jack!
Williamsburg has a lot of Italian restaurants. After our favorite spot Aurora was closed for a private event we decided to try out something new and ended up at DOC. Like many of the spots in Williamsburg, the less decorated the better it is. However, it all sort of works. Some of the hangings on the wall and the lower ceilings and the employees make it all cozy. The staff is very nice and attentive. The wine we tried was really good, especially for the price. The octopus was very tender, but it needed a little bit more flavor. The pasta with goat cheese was amazing! For desert we had tiramisu and this was very good as well.My only complaint would be when you serve bread to the table, at least bring it out warm or soft....For a first time eating here it has impressed me enough to want to come back...
Terrible! Food has no taste, shockingly overpriced for what you get, nonexistent service. We got the pulpo (bland! no seasoning, no flavor), spaghetti w/clams (salty af!), pistachio (ok, that was interesting). 2 glasses of wine. $115.Vastly overpriced. Other than the pistachio, could have made this at home for $5... and it would have been edible. Staff only came by to collect their 💰.Oh, and speaking of which: cash only. I can only assume so you cant call Chase afterwards and tell them that someone stole your dinner.#avoidliketheplague
Food delicious. But service is poor. Not busy at 11pm. But askung waiter twice to check and still waiting 20 mins to get check after table clean and another more than 5 mins to get change. Kind of crazy. Waiter just keep talking doesnt taking good care of service at all. Sadly.
The food is actually divine. We had fresh anchovies on crostini which were just sublime. We all enjoyed out pastas and the red wines we chose. The waiting staff - one chap was really lovely and friendly. But sadly there was another chap there who didn’t smile once at our table throughout our meal, which to be honest didn’t impede on our experience one bit up until the end. He was the one who brought our bill. I put my card down and it wasn’t until that point that it was brought to my attention that they only take Amex or cash. It is apparently written on the menu - I just never noticed it. I asked this surly waiter why that was - for me it’s like - make me understand. Amex is plastic, why Amex and nothing else? If he had not taken huge offence and just said - I know it’s nuts, it’s just our company policy or something like that, I would have been fine. Instead he’s rude and clearly has had this chat too many times before. He finally says let me see what I can do - I stress, not in a pleasant fashion, he then asks about the tip, I don’t like him but our experience up until now had been really lovely. I told him we were going to leave $50, off he goes and comes back with my card and a slip for me to sign. He throws this on the table by me and walks off without a word. I am a restaurant manager in London, I have my share of difficult customers. If you can call my question being difficult - and surprise surprise they can process other cards - they just choose not to. Again that’s fine, that’s their choice - but there is no need to be rude about it. Throwing my slip to sign at me - red flag to a bull with me I’m afraid and I left no tip. So to the lovely waiter - I am so sorry, you were great. The three stars are for you. But your people hating colleague should be looking for a career change. I love what I do for a living and I find it offensive when I come across an angry waiter. Do something else - no ones making you do this for a living. I would have been angry at myself if I had let someone behave like that towards me and I paid them for the privilege on top for it!
Food was good, but service slower and more chaotic than in Europe (I am from there). The big ripoff came with the bill. They just added a hefty gratuity automaticly to the bill. We were just a groupe of 3 - so thats absolutely not common in the US, and theyalso never mentioned before (like restaurants do for huge groups). However, bad for them, so we didnt even tip at all. And we recommand to everybody to do the same. Maybe they learn the lesson the hard way then. Baci
A wine bar, indeed but more importantly, a rustic Sardinian restaurant. D.O.C. Wine Bar is the most romantic scene in all of Williamsburg. Unassuming, this restaurant bares no gaudy signs out front. The space is dimly lit by a tall candle on each table. The menu is on brown parchment paper and seems handwritten. The wine list is extensive and features varieties from regions (and price ranges $33-$330) throughout Italy (I ordered a red from Abruzzo, my great grandfathers hometown). The food is great. Each pistoku has some crunch, some savory, some salt while being unique from one another. Service slowed down considerably as the place drew a crowd.Much of the menu is in Italian. Heres a cheat sheet:Taglieri = breadboardPistoku = flatbread pizzaCarpaccios = uncooked, thinly sliced meatBring your lover-to-be to DOC Wine Bar.
Really cold, inattentive staff. Had to flag them down for everything. Pasta was a salt bomb. And the flatbread was inedible - piled with bland cheese and ham. No seasoning. Like italian nachos, if anyone thought that was a good idea. Didnt bat an eye when they cleared the table and there were just a bites gone.
The panini was a perfect size for me, although I will admit that someone famished looking for a hearty meal might have wanted something additional to supplement. The prosciutto was not too chewy or stringy. Just right. The saltiness was just ever so slight, and shined through after taking a sip of the Cab Franc. The fontina was served just at that perfect warm consistency where it wasn’t runny, but just seemed to meld into the bread itself. For a small simplistic panini, I couldn’t have been more impressed.

2022-05-14The pasta here is so dang tasty. I added all that parm in my photos because I’m a sicko. Also the reason my pictures have a blue tint - they turn on the clubbing lights at like 8 in the back. Fun vibe!

2022-04-28D.O.C. is by far my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC! 100% authentic deliciousness from Sardinia, the most amazing island in the Mediterranean Sea. I have been to this place a billion times and tried every dish on the menu, and I have to say, there is absolutely nothing there that is not perfectly executed, everything is simply mind blowing. The malloreddus are obviously their specialty, theyre rich, hearty, sumptuous, una meraviglia! I also recommend trying their pappardelle alla bolognese, the fregola (another specialty from Sardinia), the octopus and the branzino.Besides the incredible food, D.O.C. has also the best service in town, extremely kind, friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The restaurant is beautiful, perfect for a romantic date or a nice, informal dinner with friends. Go to the backroom to admire paintings and decor inspired by the gorgeous, typical architectural style of the island.Veramente un posto incredibile. Siete bravissimi!!!

2022-06-18Terrible neighbors!! They have a 30 shed in the street for dining but use it for storage instead and fill the public sidewalk space with furniture/umbrellas making it difficult for public to access sidewalk. Just last night I was walking past and while trying to avoid crashing into people walking opposite I tripped over a chair and the person seated was jolted forward. I previously told workers theyre furniture needs to be out of sidewalk space. The response was The owner makes us, were not allowed to use the shed. Filing another report to DOT and the mayors office! This place is a neighborhood nuisance and danger!

2022-02-15Food and wine tasted good, albeit the portions were a bit small. The service left us scratching our heads a bit. No water was offered to us upon sitting - we had to ask for it. Our first 2 courses were dropped on the table before our bottle of wine was brought out - strange for a wine bar. We sat and waited to eat until the wine was finally brought over after having to remind our waiter. Decor is charming but the flashing colorful lights detract from the overall ambiance.

2022-02-12We had a fantastic dinner - excellent wine list and service. And the food is absolutely delicious - and the menu features dishes from Sardinia. Appetizers such as risotto cakes with sautéed mushrooms and the spicey “stew” of calamari with peas are different and delicious. The pastas are wonderful and the entrees are equally good. A most enjoyable evening.

2022-05-11Absolutely love this place. Amazing pastas, and the best branzino I have managed to find. Their pistachio pesto, whether on a pasta or crostini is incredible and a must try if visiting for the first time. The staff are always highly attentive and friendly, and incredibly helpful in picking out a good wine. During the warmer months, they also have a nice little outdoor dining setup as well.

2022-03-08A hidden gem in Williamsburg! It’s so cozy, warm, inviting. The wine list is fantastic and there are natural options by the glass! I tried the special bread and Sardinian pasta and both were so amazing and different from anything I’ve tried before. The service was attentive and friendly! Will be back for a girls night soon

2022-05-08Food was really nice - especially the appetizers: Burrata was so creamy and tasty, Risotto cakes with mushrooms were excellent. But the rest? We had a cocktail to start with, mine a Gin fizz which was more of a soda with a shot of bottom shelf booze - and would cost 17 Dollar. But most disappointing was how the 3 kids (3,3,5) were treated (to note: restaurant was only half full and it was only early evening). The kind and self-made offer by the waiter to make them a „special drink“ as well and share it in 3 glasses turned out to result in 21 Dollar on the bill for merely a sip of soda for each. We then ordered a main for the kids to share and a side of butter pasta for the picky eater, and were charged 25 bucks for the main (ok of course) plus 25 for the side of plain pasta! As a party of 6, we then were charged 24% (!) gratuity and got a complaint because we did not tip on top of that. Families are obviously not welcome. Left a stale taste, unfortunately.

2021-03-16This place was decent. Pasta was well prepared and very delightful. The servers were able to give us informative suggestions on what to eat. The bread was the best thing Ive had in a long time. It was so light and tasteful (we ordered 2 and an order to go)!!! The olives were over-rated and would pass on next time.
