My favorite is the Detroit style pizza, got 3 slices of them. At work I warmed them up and was salivating; I took a few bites and needed a drink because it was so salty. The tomatoe sauce was way to salty. I had a few sodas and water so I enjoyed eating them with plenty of drinks.
Donatina in response to your reply to my husband regarding not doing 1/2 and 1/2 toppings on a Neapolitan pizza and calling out my statement as false- I would like to correct you and show you in fact I got this twice before and enjoyed it but you were absolutely not willing to satisfy a guest and literally fine with guests leaving your restaurant hungry and unsatisfied. I will attach a photo so you can correct yourself and see my statement is in fact 100% accurate and your pizza with 1/2 and 1/2. Very sad situation- you should be customer obsessed and accommodate such a small thing. I would be willing to discuss this further with you by phone or in person if you do in fact care about customers and having a favorably image in the community.
This is my second review and Im editing the original one. It took a year to try Donatinas again after last visit. They had servers this time and presented their appetizers before the main entrees. We ordered the italian chopped salad that was very fresh but overly dressed. Too much vinegar so they got 4 stars for that. But their potato & bacon pizza/sausage & cherry pepper pizzas were the best pizzas Ive eaten since I went to Italy! Scrumptious! ..I highly recommend Donatinas...
Incredible pizza. Ive been to all the brick oven hot spots in the city and can appreciate good pizza. This place is up there with the biggies. The thing I love about this place is along with the brick oven pie they offer a regular slice as well as the Detroit slice- a deep dish work of art. Good beers as well as other tasty menu items make this a great restaurant.
Wow wow wow! It is not often we are excited and then blown away by a local pizza place. This place knows what they are doing and all of those amazing descriptions deliver! I was thrilled that they had vegan options too! Also, the person who answered the phone was extremely nice and helpful when asking about ingredients as someone in my family has a food allergy. This will now be our go-to pizzeria!
Such a hidden gem!My family and I placed an order over the weekend for the first time and we were so pleasantly surprised! We tried a few of their different Neapolitan Pizzas and were amazed by how delicious they were. Im already looking forward to ordering again - it was that good!
Me and the family really enjoyed the Detroit Pizzas! We have tried alot of different Pizza restaurants however this place is really awesome!Think really Crispy!John the owner was a great guy to talk with and everyone was so nice !Great Parking too!Inside is totally Mint and very clean!A PATCHOGUE GEM!Highly recommend!
Its our families new pizza spot. The atmosphere is perfect, the staff fantastic, and the food? Forget about it! High quality toppings on the pizza, genuine Italian ingredients, I cant say enough. My kids love the authentic oven which Ive heard was expensive and from Italy herself. Just try it and youll see.
Brought my family here to show them what i thought was a really great new pizza place. we were not able to sit together and the owner was very rude when we tried to move a couple of chairs around to accommodate our entire family sitting together. we left, and went to one of the other many fine restaurants in the Patchogue area. this place isnt as great as the reviews make it sound. pizza is good, but within 1 mile there are 3 other pizza places that are Just as good, with better service and a much more consistent track record.
The pizza is DELICIOUS, I will say that! But I will absolutely NEVER give this place my money again after the way the owner treats his employees. I watched him smack his employees hand with a spatula looking thing after the employee asked him a question. DISGUSTING.REPLY - The owner, behind the bar (tall Italian man) was the one who smacked the employee (who was a shorter Hispanic gentleman) on the hand/wrist after he asked a question about a ticket. We were standing in the take out section while watching this.
Food is really good. Staff is very nice but perhaps needs training. I came in on my birthday with about a total of 15 family members. We were planning to grab some pizza & walk the town. The restaurant was completely empty however, the young lady wouldnt allow our family to sit in the main dining area. She was told that her boss would be upset about it. I asked her if i could speak with him because we just wanted people to be able to sit down, and was told that she would have to call him? I have a disabled parent who had to be placed on the end of a table with her wheelchair and in everyones way due to not being to sit down together. If the restaurant had been busy, I would have not pushed the subject, but the staff did see how frustrating it was to me and my family and didnt do anything to fix it. I would go back, but I know better to not bring a big crowd with me as they were unable/unwilling to accommodate.
Im a real pizza fanatic. This is the best pizza Ive had on Long Island by far. This place is on the next level.Unbelievably good.Perfect Neapolitan pizza. The crust is light and airy. The sauce is delicious. We also ordered meatballs and they were excellent as well!Just do yourself a favor and go to Donatinas. You will not be disappointed.Highly recommended!A+++
Amazing crust and original/creative pizza choices. We were introduced to a delicious honey pepper infused topping for the Detroit Pizza. It was outrageous! This place takes pizza to a whole new level. Friendly place/service. Nice selection of beers/wine. Going back for the ham & fig pizza next week. Oh, and best Spumoni ever!
We had calamari fritti, nice light coating and very tender and we tried the Detroit pie which was excellent. Usually we dont go for thick slice but I had heard from a lot of people and it didnt weigh you down like most Sicilian belly bombs and the sauce with a little kick was Devine. Our waitress was so sweet, knowledgeable and helpful.I would highly recommend.Cant wait to go back and try some others.
I recommended to my wife trying this pizza place in Patchogue that I read about figuring , hey what the hell how bad could it be. Well the pizza was way above expectations. We had the brussel sprouts and bacon and the ham and figs. WOW! The pizza was delicious and the crust was to die for! Although it may seem a bit pricey, it is well worth it. We have already scoped out a few choices for future visits. P.S. They have their own parking lot which is a plus!
We went for the wood fired pizza, which was totally on point. We chose the L.I. Clam pie, and believe me, it was not an easy choice. The food was delicious, but our server, Joseph made the experience an A+. He was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive, which we appreciated as much, if not more than the wonderful lunch we had.
Owner is rude and could care less about his guests, went today and he refused to make a pizza with different toppings on one side. What pizzeria doesn’t do 1/2 and 1/2?? He actually said right to our faces we don’t split toppings and refused to do it. What a joke- he’s nothing like his brother Scotty that I can tell you. Good luck as my experience will speak volume in the community- this one bad experience can be told to friends, neighbors, relatives, co workers etc, sad that Donatina the owner doesn’t know this for himself. To let a guest walk out of your business over 1/2 toppings on a pizza is quite sad. Went up the road to Satellite pizza in blue point, ordered a small pie with 1/2 meatballs and ricotta and other half with pepperoni and peppers $14 and owner here laughed how they wouldn’t do that here.
I have been gluten free for 10 years. I have celiacs so eating anywhere is pretty difficult. The first time my boyfriend and I went to Donatina, John (the owner) mentioned that they would be making their own gluten free pizza when I asked about their gluten free items. I questioned the fact that they would be making their own crust since everywhere orders the same frozen, hard, tasteless crust and dresses it up.Well, tonight was the night. They started making their own gluten free crust and I was speechless. It was thick, airy, moist and beyond delicious. The dough had bounce to it and if the owner didn’t bring it out directly to me, I would have questioned if it was gluten free because it was THAT good. They are making Detroit styled pizza with it and I couldn’t have been more pleased!John and his staff are completely aware of how serious celiacs is and took every precaution to make sure my meal was safe.I am so thankful Donatina has joined the delicious Patchogue restaurant family and are offering such amazing options for celiacs like me. Thank you, Donatina!
Im so excited to have this place in town and looking forward to see what theyre going to do once theyre fully operational! This is the perfect place that Patchogue needed and theyll be serving up late night pizzas once theyre up & running which will be great. We came in last weekend after recommendations from friends for their soft opening. Honestly, it was fantastic brick oven pizza. Although they had a limited menu and were taking cash only, there were SO many options for pies, focaccia, and an open face calzone. We tried the Brussel sprout/bacon pie, the chicken caprese, and the cabonara pie. All of these came out quickly and HOT and were de-freaking-licious. Im looking forward to trying something new out tonight.
Pizza is not bad but the nickle and dime mentality towards their buisness is rediculous. A 3 inch pepperoni pinwheel cost almost a dollar more than a slice of pepperoni pizza and it doesnt come with a small cup of sauce thats a dollar more.... always have an issue when i go here. This is the last time i stop heree. seccond worse pizza joint in the neighborhood, next to del-fiore. the two most terrible pizza places on long island, and they are a mile apart from one another.
Having to make an unexpected pick up at the Patchogue Railroad Station, I can only hope it happens again because I discovered Donatinas!!! 18 West Avenue, this little gem packs Italian flavor into every bite! I enjoyed my one slice of their Sicilian Pie. (I can not eat more than one by medical choice, otherwise, Id have a pie going home in my car!!! How a foodie like me got lucky to suffer from stomach disease is so unfair. But I make the best of it by limiting the quantity and steering clear of foods that bring flare-ups. This pizza has to be the lightest, most airy crust I have ever tasted. They advertise cooking it in a Marsal Deck Oven. Now there were many decadent choices, but as it is Good Friday, I kept this simple. But the Ham, Taleggio and Figs pizza looked terrific. Nonnas Meatball and Ricotta with spicy garlic tomato sauce and fresh basil, well need I say another word. Patchogue has become a haven for food and cocktails. Parking can be challenging, but there are several lots. The excellent news is Donatinas is at the west end before you get to the main trafficked areas, so park your car in their lot and bring your appetite!!!! Bella, Bella!!!$
Was there once before. It was ok, the server was nice though. I had seen a couple of weeks ago that they have Detroit style so I figured I go back. Went today - a Saturday about 8:40 PM Walked in, pretty empty, about three full small tables, three to four at the counter, two servers, guys making pizza, two other guys behind the register. The guys behind the register were involved in a conversation with about four costumers - not taking orders, not handing them food, just talking. I was standing near the tables waiting for someone one to say hello, sit anywhere, sit here, can I help you etc.. anything. After 4-5 minutes, the servers went to a table, back the the register, to two people at the counter, back to the register, staying at the register, talking between themselves, but never looking up. They never even looked around to see if the people already seated needed anything. The one at the register finally glanced at me but just turned right back around to the register, the other server just kept talking to her and she gave me a glance but also never acknowledged my presence. after a few minutes of this I told myself that I would give them two more minutes. If no one said boo to me I would leave. The guy at the register stayed in his conversation, the guys making pizza understandably kept making food - not their job to help the costumers, and the two servers never gave me another glance. So looked at my match, two more minutes have passed so I went up to the register and told them I was sorry to break up their conversation but I’d been standing there for five minute - it was more - and no one’s even said hello or have a seat or anything. I’ve seen this kind of thing before. It’s big in the old time city deli/lunch counter places where the workers never look up to see if the costumer need any help hoping to do less work. Also some business once they believe they got this, they adopt this behavior. I worked in retail for a long time and have zero tolerance for this kind of thing. Anyway, when I finally broke up the conversation at the register the guy behind the counter started to come out but I told him forget it. I thought to myself that every business I’ve been to that acts like this doesn’t stay in business long so I told the guy that I would make sure to visit after they’re out of business. Not going back.

2022-02-11Got a pizza. Great. Also got an eggplant dinner. See photos. Instead of eggplant we ended up with a baked clam dinner which my wife has had before and was gritty then and gritty now. Beyond disappointed.

2022-05-27I am new to LI in the last year and I have been searching for the best pizza. Having tried at least 30 NY style joints that all tasted similarly, I finally found a creative and outstanding place. I lived in the Detroit area previously and I was blown away by the Detroit style pizza here. The crust is perfectly crunchy without being heavy or doughy. My family enjoyed both the Brick oven style and also the NY pies. We met the owner who was very friendly and shared his story about how he learned to make these different styles of pizza. I loved the flavor of the sauce and will definitely be going back!!

2022-06-11Great place! Stopped in last night on the fly with my wife and sat at the counter near the pizza oven. Watched our food get made and it was delicious. But this was the best part...an order comes in and the pizza chef starts working his magic and for fun I timed him. 5 pies of various types prepped in 3min 59sec, into the oven and while cooking he was getting the boxes ready and adding wood to the fire, 5 pies out of the oven in 3min 29sec. The guy is a machine...the back of his shirt says it all!

2021-10-04Very good pizza. Different, tasty. Detroit style, wood oven style, traditional style, you name it, they make it. Good beer on tap, nice little bar. Stop in for a quick bite, you will enjoy it. Its part of Patchogue Village but off to the side. Worth the visit

2022-06-29Its OK, thought it was pricey for the small pieces of pizza .Just received a response from the owner which said Thank you , although I appreciate the quick response they didnt address one of my concerns. 2 small pieces of Sicilian style pizza each slice was like half the size of a regular Sicilian slice available at any pizzeria and a regular slice with broccoli 15.00 dollars I think thats way overpriced however to receive a response of Thank you left me to believe review wasnt even read !! If youre going to respond clearly you should read the review or dont bother. Thanks .Edit I responded to response from owner on my original review.

2022-06-20Family and I really enjoyed this place during a visit to the area. The place we clean, service was fast AND friendly and the food was really good. We have a few different pizzas and they were all good. The cheese stuffed knots were all good. I would definitely recommend it!

2022-02-06The pizza has so much potential. Presentation and texture is great, but it’s so bland. The garlic knots had more taste than the pizza. Which the knots were just as bland and didn’t even taste like garlic knots. Such an unfortunate order.

2022-03-17They make their own Gluten Free Pizza Crusts!!! The only GF crust style choices are Sicilian or Detroit (basically very similar to Sicilian). I almost always get the pesto chicken as a topping. As with any restaurant that isnt wholly GF, Id still recommend taking a Gluten pill (Ive gotten slight cross contamination).
