Went there for the 1st time. My car hasnt seen any mechanic other than the dealer since bought new. They diagnosed a problem the dealer faulted on fixed it quickly and at a very fair price. Fred was a gentleman and communicated what was wrong and corrected it. I found a new mechanic now. His son was a gentleman as well.
Trustworthy, family owned shop, Fred and his son and crew do excellent work, no worries when you bring your vehicle for service. Friendly and fair prices too.
Dorgler Auto Repair is the most reputable, top quality auto repair on the east coast!!! They are always honest and price you fairly. And owners Fred and Fred Jr. are amazing! Trust me, no other auto repair can top them!
Fred was able to diagnose and fix a noise underneath the car and took the time to talk to me about my concerns. There are many mechanics that can do work cheaply and effectively but not many who take the time to communicate with their customers - this shop is an exception.

I used to be a auto mechanic and I worked for an unscrupulous shop owner who pulled all kinds of dishonest shenanigans to charge for work that wasnt needed or just plain overcharged for work that was done. So when I stopped doing that for a living years later I was suspicious of all shop owners. I found Dorgler and am glad I did. I highly recommend Fred Dorglers shop as the place to go for an honest and fair deal for highly professional work.
Frank Junior was incredible and so generous with his time. He was able to diagnose my car and didn’t even charge but rather told me that my issue was covered under the warranty. If you’re looking for a reliable and trustworthy mechanic I recommend Dorgler.

My family has had our cars taken care of by Fred for over 30 years. Its hard to find a mechanic thats honest and provides a level of service that reflects the importance of lives at stake. Fred always calls to inform us of any problems found before beginning work. He takes the times to explain the work done and does his best to accommodate his customers and be courteous to their schedule. I dont let anyone work on my car and had my car towed from the Bronx to Queens once just for that piece of mind.
Fred Senior runs this garage, Ive always thought garages in queens were sketchy but what a great experience here. Only the work needed is done and prices are better than fair. Diagnosis to you with a phone call comes quickly. I rate this a 5 star.. They have been here for many many years.

Fred Dorgler is a rare breed - an honest mechanic, who you can leave the car with in the morning and hell have it fixed in the afternoon without gouging you. I highly recommend taking your car to him if you need any repairs. I had metallic noises coming out of my rear tire so I took it to Dorgler and left the car in the morning. He called me in the afternoon and said that rusted piece of metal got into the drum brakes, causing the noise, which he removed. He said that both rear drum brakes were good and the charge was $30!! Some garages charge you $60 just for opening up the hood, and then find things wrong, especially if youre not present. Highly recommended.
Ive been going to Fred Dorgler since 1996. Hes been open since 1933. Located on 116 and Atlantic. Hes honest , reliable and he ll get it done. Your not going to find someone better than Fred Dorgler.
Ive been taking my car to Dorglers for about 30 yrs. He and all of his mechanics work hard and stand by there work. I recently had a over heating problem which they took care of it ,ty. Thank you to Vern think he spent the most time working on my truck . Overheating pro bbn le taken care of and the air conditioning once and cold.
The greatest, most knowledgable, fair, educational, hilarious, speedy and HONEST mechanic I have ever known or heard of! Every experience is better than the last. I am also on the road a lot and Dorgler has accurately diagnosed every long distance problem for me via a phone call. He is 10 for 10! He even talked me through a DIY muffler job while in (the middle of nowhere) Del Norte, CO last year and its still holding!!! Incredible! Never overcharges and cuts me breaks on his prices whenever he can...including the occasional free small job. Fred, his son Fred Jr. and everyone who works there is an amazingly helpful and caring human being. He is not only my mechanic but a true friend. If you are looking for an above and beyond personal mechanic...look no further! Been dealing with the Dorgler family for three generations of “Freds” & have always found them to be honest & thorough. You only get charged for what your vehicle requires; never trumped up charges.

Its been 4 consecutive years I am doing my state inspection from this place. The people working here knows what they are doing. I dont know any other places for this purpose.

2021-07-11Reading all of the good reviews. I must’ve been unlucky. I brought my car and explained what was wrong to a mechanic (the son of the owner), left the car at the shop at 8am and was told that it would be done by around 11am. At 12pm, I called to check up, then I was told to check back after lunch. They (the owner- father) called me back around 4pm to tell me to come pick up my car. And what they “fixed” was not what I suspected was wrong with the car, and I was surprised that they went ahead and made the fixes without calling me for to confirm what they found and if they should fix it. They just “fixed” and called me to tell me to pick up my car. So on the phone I asked him if he was also able to check the issues I had suspected, but the dad did not know what I was talking about, telling me that the mechanic (who I believe is his son) did not relay any of the information I had told him.Needless to say, I come to pay (I was not given a receipt) and pick up my car. Car still has the same exact issues and getting worst, as if it was never taken to a shop.Disappointed and will not recommend.
