Beautiful and delicious displays of cookies, cakes and bread! Impeccably clean and tastefully decorated bakery. Enjoyed the bread and loved the cookies! Highly recommend stopping by and purchasing a few sweet samples.
The cake was dry and the cream inside was nothing to write home about. Thick cream void of any flavor. The outside is nicely decorated which is deceptive of whats inside. Second time I visisted this bakery never again.
The cake didnt explode but the flavor and the awesome colors sure made up for it!!! It was delicious!!
Contacted for a custom cake. The lady on phone was highly unprofessional and condescending! Told me pretty rudely that she can’t do a cake the size I want. On sending an inquiry on email, she replied ( rudely) or atleast that’s how the email sounded , “The smallest size we can make is a 7 inch and the price is $110.00. If you have any other questions or would to place the order please give us a call”!Definitely not ordering & personally won’t recommend👎🏻 Because for me customer service is everything! And there’s no willingness to cater my request.It may be a big brand with several clients. But theyve lost one ☝🏻

Was there Thanksgiving morning and things went so smoothly. Great service that handled the long holiday line as best and as fast as they could. Even though there were 20 people already of my number, the wait time did not seem too long
Tell me this isn’t the most beautiful cake ever!!! Whipped cream, cannoli filling and candies almonds on the outside. I gladly pay extra to cover the top of the birthday cake...at our age we know who’s birthday it is:) lol I used to drive from Huntington to Levittown to go to Dortoni’s! So glad they’re in Commack but it’s really dangerous! Try their bread sticks with peanut butter on them!! They also did my shower & wedding cakes!!! Chocolate fudge filling, choc cake and their buttercream is to die for. Like the best suzie q EVER! You will NEVER be disappointed! Today I got the coolest cake!!!! Thank you all!
Two stars because the custom cake I ordered was tasty, but the decorating job left much to be desired. I agree with some of the other reviewers (custom cake purchasers) who have also indicated that the decorating level was sub standard and did not come close to what we have grown to expect from Dortonis over the past 20+ years! I must say that we have NEVER been disappointed in the past. . . This time, however, the top of my cake was practically bare, with only a crooked line of piping surrounding the circumference, and the sides were decorated with dots of different sizes which were not at all symmetrically placed. My husband picked up the pre-paid cake and, needless to say, did not take a close look - next time I will know better! We have been loyal 20-year + patrons of the Levitown Dortoni bakery, and truly hope that this was a one-time mishap at the Commack location (much closer to our home), although I have my doubts. Every time I call to place a customer cake order (Commack), some problem always seems to arise (the staff cannot answer questions; when I call to confirm they cannot find my order; they say that they cannot make simple fillings that I request (hazelnut mousse, chocolate whipped cream) which I have ordered many times before at the Levittown location; and now, this last issue with the inferior decorating). I truly hope that the Commack location can live up to the standards that weve come to appreciate and expect of Dortonii Bakery, and thus will indeed give them another try. However, next time I will surely request that the cake decorating be left to the pros!
Ordered ahead and had napoleon cake written on for my dads 95th birthday and it looked like a three year old wrote on it. They were supposed to draw balloons and neglected to do that. Had to wait on line (only two people ahead of me and they were together), for a half an hour. The help there is so slow!!!! Quite annoying!
Dont ever order specialty cakes from them. They wont have it ready on time.

I used to love this bakery and we would come here for all of our family gatherings. I was picking up my sisters’ cake for her bridal shower. Obviously a very important day, we had everything preordered, and the bakery told us to pick it up at 230PM the day of. As I got to the bakery, I gave the baker my copy of the order and receipt as I waited for them to bring the cake out. They told me to hold on and wait a minute and it will be right out. The first ten minutes of me waiting there was fine, but after twenty minutes I was starting to get a little worried. The original baker that I gave my receipt to was taking other people’s orders and I was seeing cake after cake taken out besides ours. After all, the cake should be ready. As I kept trying to get the attention of one of the bakers or staff members, they would ignore me.It now is 3PM and without even an update I am starting to get a little irritated. Not only that the cake hasn’t been given to me yet for a party that is happening that day, but more so the apparent lack of communication with the bakers and staff. Finally, after waiting 45 minutes they told me they forgot or “lost the cake” so they had to bake a new one. I had to have my mom call the store because no one would give me the time of day. First, the staff should have conveyed that to me from the beginning and told me what was going on, instead of making me wait that long. It was not so much the cake as it was more the lack of respect from the staff that saw me waiting there for a long period of time and did not convey any message to me. I would suggest in the future a better system to speak to customers and if there is a problem with someones cake, let them know.
Cookies should not be made out of sawdust. Especially fancy, expensive cookies. The cookies I purchased today were no better than supermarket brand. Dry and tasteless. Very disappointed bc I thought Dortini was a name people could trust and have high expectations for. Would never waste my $ there again.
Nice clean place. Needed a last minute cake for my sons birthday. She assured me it would be exactly like the inspiration picture I sent her and worked with me to customize the cake perfectly.
Even though I go way of of my route to shop at this bakery and would give them 5 stars for freshness and beauty, their slogan if you can dream it we can make it? Thats not true. I wanted two customized cake, one a 15 inch and the other to accompany it as a 4 inches by 4 inches, they said its IMPOSSIBLE and they cannot make it🙁 I did went ahead and ordered the round 15 inches customize cake and went to a small private bakery and had the 4 inches by 4 inches cake made just as I dreamt it to be.
I got the Satin and Silk cake. Its a cheesecake with chocolate mousse and chocolate Ganache. It wasnt too sweet, nor was it too chocolately. This was the perfect combination. I would highly recommend. Its affordable and definitely worth it.

Phenomenal bakery we love the food here. I place an order here every year for the jewish holidays they make an amazing mandle bread. Ive also ordered cakes & pastries it is definitely worth the trip

I ordered cupcakes 2 weeks in advance for my sons graduation party. They called me that morning and asked if I could come later to pick them up because they wouldn’t be on time. When my husband showed up at the later time they wanted, the cupcakes weren’t ready. He had to ask for a refund and drive to another bakery to get cupcakes.

My first visit to this amazing bakery. A very patient and pleasant gal helped me pick out a fabulous pumpkin mousse cake for my friends Thanksgiving table, and my hosts raved about it. While on the expensive side, I wouldnt go to any other bakery after finding Dortoni. Worth every penny!!!

Every time Im there they have something new and delectable looking. Their bakers are true artists and they never fail to please. Everyone behind the counter is as sweet as can be. They all wear their masks appropriately. I havent had anything from there that wasnt delicious. Adore their hazelnut napoleans! Tonight Im trying their rugelach for the first time.

The staff was so friendly. The cakes and pies are fresh and delicious. Sampled marble loaf, was just perfect. Pricey, but all good bakeries are (unless ur in the Bronx). I have been dying to get a reliable bakery in this neighborhood, Im so happy this place opened! Parking is easy, theres a lot. They have traditional Italian bakery fare and also innovative items. Very cool.

Originally from Long Island and the original location in Levittown was always a family favorite. I was on the Island after many years away and noticed Dortoni opened a second location in Commack. I made a detour to get over there before it closed for the night and I wasnt disappointed. The place is well laid out, clean and stocked full of delicious baked goods. I bought a bunch of items and brought them home to family. The desserts brought back fond memories and were fantastic. Highly recommend a stop by, just remember leave your diet at the door and buy everything that catches your eye. You only live once right.

My experience from beginning to end was so pleasant and easy. They made a cake for my sons baptism which looked and tasted incredible. Hands down the best tasting cake Ive ever had!

First cake my husband bought from this place was a fruit tart and the peaches had mold and the tartar cream taste bad. Second cake my husband brought (against my will) was a birthday cake for my 4 year old with the theme of Frozen ( Disney) that was totally disappointed nothing from the picture. It looks like a baby shower boys cake.
Recently I ordered tiramisu cake and it came out so bad. They put vanilla ice cream as a layer and I don’t know how they made that bad bt no taste like tiramisu cake.... I don’t recommend this place...

I ordered a rainbow mousse large cake ready for pick up @4pm on 6/20. After watching the worker scurry around in and out of the back room I asked if there was a problem . She said they were looking for my order . After waiting 25 minutes they never located the cake !I told them I would pick up the cake the next day instead and asked that they have it ready when I arrive on 6/21@ 11am.I arrived on time only to find once again , they had a hard time first locating my order and couldn’t find the cake either as the manager is now going in and out of the back room . Now I hit a half hour waiting when they finally find the cake !! You would think for my total inconvenience they would have offered a discount or even a pound of cookies for my time totaling 45 minutes of waiting in two days and making two trips to pick up the cake . I found them to be disorganized and poor business people and will never give them a recommendation or purchase anything from them again . Very disappointed in the way I was treated ... they may receive some good reviews but as for me , I was treated poorly .

Pastries are decent but the customer service is awful. The young lady that helped me seemed in a rush to get rid of me and the place wasn’t even busy.
The cannoli were halfway decent but Ill never return here. The customer service leaves a lot to be desired. I will just say that I dont appreciate having service workers- who Im about to hand money to- have a derogatory conversation about me in front of me. Very, very unprofessional. This is petty but Im going to say it anyway. I heard you and not all black people are scary.

Cookies are delicious, cakes are fresh and cheap. I couldn’t believe how inexpensive their cakes were and they were beautiful. Finally a bakery close to home and no more Costco cakes!!!!! I hate their counter space to pay though. It’s way too small. People are literally on top of each other opening up their wallets to pay. No personal space with your money in your hand. But they still get 5 stars cause they are great and very friendly.

Been there when they first opened and a couple of times after, and I can tell tell you they were a big disappointment. Like someone else posted the young girls that work there are clueless. I bought muffins, the girl gave me the wrong ones anyway, and they were so so dry. Bought some almond horns, were filled with air and no taste.We picked up chocolate cake , and Mandel bread for Passover yesterday, what a disaster. The cake was so dry, we had to through it away. They put the Mandelbread in a paper bag unsliced. Horrible.I don’t know who’s running that store, but definitely not from the original Dortoni.Done with that place!!!!!

Really disappointed. Went for cookies and pastries. All looked great. The taste is just not up to par for a stand alone bakery. Out of all the variety we got, the rainbow cookie is what got the 2 stars. Otherwise, blah.

Was excited to see Dortoni pop up in Commack! Been visiting the Levittown location forever and this location is just as great. Lovely staff inside, they were extremely pleasant and you can see they all take pride in their work from the moment you walk in. I’ve recommended their bakery for a long time and I’m glad to have it so close by now! Thanks for my coffee, I’ve published some 360 photos, but they still do no justice go inside and take it all in!

Its Dortonis and its finally in Suffolk. The cakes here are not only delicious, but they look extravagant and are still moderately priced.Definitely try one of the cakes here instead of wasting your hard earned money at a super market.
Im so happy that I no longer have to travel all the way to Levittown to buy my full fruit topped Tres Leches cake. Cake is so good its well worth the trip.

Super busy for a reason. Ive been coming for years at the request of my wife and her family, though Im not a fan of the pastries they offer, they are critical enough that had it slipped, theyd have stopped sending me, and the line, though very long, is predictable and polite.

Dortoni Commack is a shameful disappointment. It starts with the staff. The people who work here do not greet customers and are not helpful at all. They seem sullen and judgemental. No interest in helping customers out. The first time I went there, I was not greeted and when I asked questions about cupcakes, I was met with blank stares. That was my first Dortoni Commack experience. The second time I went, I bought a dozen donuts. Again, I was ignored when I walked in. I asked about the donuts and the woman was not even sure what kind all the donuts were. Then she put the 12 donuts in a box that was too small. She jammed them in there on top of each other and then taped the box down really hard with lots of tape. When I opened the box at home, the beautiful donuts were one big mess. The box was a mess. It was really disgraceful. The third time I went (which will be my last) was today--International Womens Day. And what beautiful advertising Dortoni had on Instagram in the days leading up to International Womens Day--A beautiful free cookie for the first 200 women. Got there at 9am Sunday, they open at 7am. After being ignored by staff as usual, I ask about the free cookie. The first girl has no clue what I am talking about and the second girl says they have to be baked. What a disappointment. And you know, I have always associated Dortoni with quality, having grown up in Hicksville and marrying a guy from Levittown. I can now say no matter what or where, I will never enter a Dortoni Bakery again.

I grew up in Levittown and on Dortonis, now live out in Suffolk and was so happy that Dortonis opened up in Commack. My favorite bakery of all time. To the freshness of all the food to the lovely staff!!

Ive been going to the Levittown location for the rainbow cookies for years, so happy to have Commack location which is 15 mins from my home. We stopped in last week and tried the raspberry rugelach and rainbow cannoli cake both were delicious. I tried their coffee and regret not ordering it sooner it was excellent. We also took home a rye bread, also perfect. The man and woman behind the counter were helpful and super friendly, the shop was very clean. Im very particular about rainbow cookies, and Dortonis are the best Ive found by far.

2022-07-04The first time I ordered their cake was in April. It was delicious and fresh. I ordered the Parisian for my mothers birthday and was given rotten fruit. No good. Money down the drain.

2022-05-25For $26 I got this Oreo cake that tasted like it was 3 days old. The cream inside was so dry that it was crumbling. I got it on a Wednesday, it was probably baked over the weekend 😞. Im disappointed because its supposed to be a good bakery. You can see the buttercream cracking in the picture

2022-06-09Ordered a custom made cake for our daughters birthday. It blew us away when we saw it! They put their heart into the cake. Even the mold for the lettering is perfect. We opted for Strawberry jam inside and the cake tasted so fresh! Every bite was worth every penny

2022-04-19Very unhappy. I used to love this place but recently they dont care about the customers anymore. I order a cake they closed before the hours that says on the website and now they wont even give me my refund back. So then I asked if I could have credit and buy something else with the money I had already deposited and they said they couldnt help me. Very unprofessional place.Reply to owner: I am very honest with my reviews as you can check and also dont lie that you called multiple times because I have proof that show otherwise. Just another example of unprofessional behalf on your part. Good day.

2022-02-07I recently ordered a custom cake for paw patrol theme for my son and I’m sad to say that I was extremely disappointed. The cake was poorly made and very messy. It looked like it was an amateur who made it and it was a rushed job. I’ve orders so many cakes with you and I expect nothing but perfect. So seeing this cake was a shock to me, and I had no choice but to display this cake since the party was just an hour away. Very disappointed.See attached pictures.

2022-06-07Huge drop of the ball for the Dortoni’s of Commack. I went there twice for two separate events to order cakes, and both times there has been an issue. The second which occurred on Sunday June 5th. I ordered a cake for my husbands promotion on May 17th to be picked up at 7am this past Sunday (June 5th). It was AWFUL. The writing was sloppy, and the design looked like they had just finished it as I walked in the door. All of that wasn’t great, but the thing that really let me down was the picture they had scanned onto it. I had sent them a picture to be put on the cake, the part that I thought we be easy not to screw up. I was VERY VERY WRONG. They had told me the cake would be final checked and ready at 7am, to account for any issues that they may have had. I arrived at 2pm to pick up the cake; there was a giant bubble in the middle of the photo. I spoke to the shift manager, who agreed that it hadn’t been checked, and that it was definitely messed up. She told me they would correct it now, but it would take 3 hours to fix it. I came to pick up the cake on my way to the event, I don’t have three hours. I was offered a $25 credit for the picture. The credit isn’t the point, it’s that it was done incorrectly and never checked. Mistakes happen, but that’s why quality checks in a business are standard practice. It’s how you retain customers, and don’t develop a bad reputation as unreliable. It was supposed to be ready by 7am and was still wrong at 2pm. That says you don’t respect my time, your time, or the money your customers pay. That’s how it works when you provide a service, you’re selling yourself for people to recommend you in the future. I guess someone needs to teach that business lesson to the staff. I personally won’t be going there again, and I’d honestly suggest you don’t either. There are plenty of other places that will do the work you want. This just isn’t one of them.
