Hands-down the best Indian food in the area. Very attentive & friendly staff. Weve been here several times, and each time has been consistently excellent. The lunch buffet is alo a big winner, but the food is so good thatyou actually dont feel like you have to eat a ton of it to feel like youre getting your moneys worth. 6 out of 5 stars
Probably the best Indian food in the Capital Region! Had the lunch buffet; all dishes (reflecting pan Indian cuisines) were great/good. The masala dosa instantly took one home. My wife says were having dinner here tonight, and I agree! Hope this place does really well and consistently maintain its superlative quality.
Went for the lunch buffet,,it was delicious!! I don’t eat meat but found a wide assortment of delicious veggie dishes. The place was immaculate, wait staff were friendly and very attentive, well done all around. All this for $10, don’t know how they do it. I will be back!
Amazing Indian food, such pleasant staff.I have been there a couple of times now and have never been disappointed. They have wide variety of Indian food with perfect taste!! We had masala dosa and onion dosa and both were delicious. We also tried their bhel puri and papri chat which was my top favorite. The ambience is nice and clean. Will definitely go there again whenever i crave good Indian spices. Must try out once if you haven’t already!!!
I had a dine in here with 3 course mealGood: Nice ambiance, place was very clean and budget friendly.Bad: We ordered Masala dosa, Shahi Paneer, Navrathna Korma. None of them had any flavor, taste was very bland. Dosa was the worst. batter was not fermented enough to give that desired taste. On top of it, chutney that they served was not freshly prepared and tasted awful.Overall: food here is nowhere close to authentic Indian food. I would not recommend this place and definitely skip next time.
The flavors that come from the kitchen of Dosa Grill truly bring you to the finest restaurant in India. This was as by far the best India restaurant that I have ever eaten in the USA! This is the best kept secret of Albany no matter what type of food you like. Very clean, well run! BRAVO!
I went to the newly owned indian restaurant dosa grill albany the food was really good.. they have very good lunch buffet for 9.95 dollars ALL YOU CAN EAT .. that is just so amazing. The food tasted very good.. the dosa was very deliciousThey have a big menu ..both north and south indian menu. The interior is so nice .. perfect for a candle light dinner.. fine dining style.. the food and the aroma and the ambience top notchThe food service staff was very good.. very quick service and they also gave us free dessert which was really nice of them.Hope everyone visits the restaurant try their menu and support the new business in the CAPITAL..
The food( at least vegetarian options) is below average - to be very honest. We thought at least ‘Dosa’ at Dosa Grill would be good, but everything on the plate was stale and we could smell and taste it too. Very disappointed. The menu looks like they are serving varieties, but nothing is great. Veg spring rolls and veg bullets have literally no taste we get oddly shaped 4 pieces of each in each dish. Puris should be nice and soft, instead they were oily and super hard and rubbery to chew. Even the water tasted like chemicals. We requested bottled water and they said they don’t sell it.🤔. Never suggesting this place again. My friend ordered a chicken korma to go, which she said was good.. I am a vegetarian so may be not a place for vegetarians. The only thing I appreciate is that when we told them about the dosa, he did not charge us for that. Of course we didn’t want to complain about everything that we had ordered because we did not enjoy anything there and didn’t want to look like a complaint box.
We were traveling and chose this place because it was close to our hotel. The food was delicious-- my dosa was light, crisp, and nicely spiced. My companions kofta curry was also fantastic. The sesame seed naan was light, fluffy, and very tasty. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We will definitely stop again next time we come through Albany.
My only regret is that I didn’t know about Dosa Grill sooner!!! Every single dish was amazing. We went with family (including the kids). We were seated within minutes in spite of the place being packed at dinner rush. We received our appetizers within a few short moments and every dish (vegetarian or non-vegetarian) was excellent. Perfectly seasoned biryani and the dosa was delicious. Every single member of the staff checked on us without hesitation whether it was for a refill or to bring a dish or ask if we needed anything. It felt like being at home! We will be back and this is our new favorite Indian restaurant.
As always when trying a new Indian restaurant, I order the baseline dishes of chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, samosas and a garlic naan. The samosas were your typical Indian restaurant variety - nothing special there. Chicken tikka masala was well prepared, leaning a bit toward the sweet side interestingly enough; I ordered it medium heat, and while it brought some heat, it didnt incorporate into the dish all that well, as if the heat was an afterthought. Saag paneer was decent, but a bit lacking in flavor profile; the spinach was not fresh, but obviously frozen leading to a bit of a runny feel and bland taste. The paneer itself was quite good. I enjoyed the garlic naan as it had good actual garlic content. This would be a borderline 3.5 star review, but theyre a new place, close by and I wish them success. This area of Albany desperately needed an Indian restaurant. This was a take-out order. The dining area looked nice as well.
Owner Ansari incredibly hospitable and professional, and the entire staff was on point. Chicken tikka masala was delicious as was the garlic naan. I also had their lassi and it was amazing as well. Have not tried the lunch buffet yet but I will certainly be returning soon!
My son and I had the buffet lunch on Saturday, and it was terrific. 7 vegetarian dishes/sides, 3 kinds of chicken: tikka masala (our favorite), as well as the curry and chili varieties; and goat (delicious). There were 2 salads and a dozen different sauces. For dessert, rice pudding and jalebi. Nan is brought to the table. Staff were all helpful and attentive. Great value at $9.95. We see many more visits in our future.
Ive lived in albany my entire life and this is one of the best desi places in the area. The dosa and entrees are both amazing and the staff is super welcoming and friendly. We tried the color dosa, chicken makhni, and kheer. I raved about this meal for my entire drive home. cannot wait to come back
Nice interior with tables and booths. Much nicer and a great ambiance. The staff and the servers were very professional, courteous and hospitable. Mr. Raj & Mr. Ansari took care of our needs and the food was excellant and served piping hot. Their entree recommendation were great and took care of of our food requirements. The garlic Nan and Tandoori Roti was out of this world. It was an amazing dining expierence at this restaurant. I would definately recommends this place for Vegeterian or Non-Vegeterian food. EXCELLANT SERVICE.The Buffet is a steal for $9.95 with 6 Vegeterian Entree, 4 Non-Veg Entree, Salad-Bar, Goat Biryani and Nans and Dosa on the Table. What else do you want?
4 Star: I went for Buffet Lunch.Very Nice Taste, The Food served fresh and good varieties, I found they should increase the Bowls for sweet dish, bowls were not available most of time, the Food tasty veg and non veg, we got Dosa complementary which my daughter like most. The Medu vada was great, however we miss the Sambar.Just keep taste and service as it is and we will come again and again. Thanx
Checked the place out after reading all the 5 star reviews. Honestly, it was average at best. We had lunch buffet. The dosa that was served was not well roasted and it was white...the veg manchurian was good. The rest of the buffet was average. Price was on the lower side, so thats a positive. Personally, karavalli restaurant in Latham is way better and worth the higher price compared to this place
Very good food here! Lunch buffet is very modestly priced, and the food is very high quality. Very nice paneer, unusually good for the area. All the classic dishes were here: biryani, chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, chana masala... Having them in rotation is one thing, making them appealing is another, and Dosa Grill doesnt disappoint due to the abundant but refined seasoning in their dishes. Satisfying, light yet somehow rich, its the perfect weekday lunch for cash-strapped SUNY folks and the state workers down the road at the Harriman campus; Dosa Grill could absolutely kill it if they sent a food truck to Harriman during the vendor season. Plan on eating here once a week while at the office.
Awesome job the chiefs and floor crew specially Hansari the amazing guy memorise the whole order great job, food was delicious and perfect keep up the great work hopefully you guys stay consistent with Service and Food stay prosperous everyone in Albany upstate should give a shot and this fine delicious, amazing restaurant ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

2022-03-20This place was busy on a Saturday evening, every table had a customer. Service was attentive and the food portions were generous. The garlic naan was crisp and the chicken tikka masala was very good, with the right amount of heat. My only complaint was the garden salad, which was basically a refrigerated plate of shredded lettuce and sliced carrots with a little bowl of Italian dressing. Dont get the garden salad. Otherwise, a solid place to go for dinner.

2022-02-27My wife and I just had dinner there and with no exaggeration I can say its the best Indian food Ive had. My wife and I both have put this at the top of the list for Indian food. We live about 3 hours away but well come back at least once a month. Food was great and the staff was excellent.

2022-02-27Why wait to tell others?! I’m still having my buffet. Not everything was great. And some things were less enjoyed than others but i was able to eat everything. The only ill feeling is because i stuffed myself to not waste anything. For a first time through, i had a little bit of just about every thing offered. I had the dosa twice (need to ask for it). The masala in the dosa wasn’t as tasty and there wasn’t sambar but it was still worth it. Why not 5 stars? Because i can’t give 4.5. I also got there at just the wrong time and at that moment i got the last table because they were packed. It’s slowed down since. I do appreciate they have the mobile credit card machines so i can pay at my table and not have the card disappear. If the food and price stays like this, i hope to return and bring others with me. Enough words, back to eating.

2022-04-11Good Indian Restaurant! The place offers flavorful and authentic Indian food and the staff is well-behaved and friendly. The portion size is decent. Have tried several south Indian dishes and liked all of them. Looking forward to exploring more north indian food!
