This past Saturday, my husband and I had our wedding reception at the Doubletree! To say it was outstanding is an understatement!! Maria was our coordinator and she helped us plan every step of the way.....the day of everything was perfect! All of our guests have complimented us on the food as well as the drinks. The hors doeuvres at cocktail hour were delicious as was the food at dinner! We would highly recommend hosting an event at Hotel Utica....it was everything we hoped for!!
Friendly staff - upgraded me prior to my arrival. The room was outstanding - had a hot tub, weights, workout bike. The bed was extremely comfy and the shower was great. The restaurant in the lobby is beautiful and the food was great, dessert was divine (chocolate chip cookie in a mini cast iron skillet topped with ice cream, whipped cream, etc). I wish I could have stayed longer to enjoy the hotel and town.
Everything was amazing! Customer service was excellent as well as the room. Spacious room with excellent views. Strong water pressure and all the little soaps you could ask for. Beds were super comfortable and warm. Everything was super clean and this was the best hotel Ive stayed at in ages. Would definitely be looking for more double tree hotels in the future!
Positive: Very nice hotel and price was good for quality. Room was huge. Staff very helpful. Building as old charm and character but is updated and nice. Negative: Carpet in room was sticky in spots. There had clearly been spills a vacuum could not fix. Told staff carpet needed deep cleaning. Would trust other rooms not to have same problem. Otherwise the hotel was perfect.
We had such a fantastic experience using Hotel Utica for a private event. The facility and grounds are breathtaking and really added such elegance to our day. Every where you turn is a picture perfect photo opp as the decor is so perfectly designed and spotless. Thank you Hotel Utica for being so great!
My wife and I spent two nights here when we attended an event at the Stanley Theater. We had a corner room on the 9th floor that overlooked downtown Utica. The room was large and comfortable. The bathroom was also large enough that both of us could shower, shave, etc. and not get in each others way. Be aware that the elevators are original and quite small. Our only complaint is that there were no local television stations available on their TVs. No ABC, CBS, NBC, or PBS. Overall it was a great place to stay.
This is a very nice, restored building. The lobby of this hotel is sumptuous and belies the fact that this is a select service property and not a luxury hotel. When we arrived there was a raucous wedding reception taking place and it was difficult to check in because of the noise level. Our room was quiet though, and I dont want to begrudge the wedding party for enjoying themselves or the hotel for making money. And, now that I think of it, this is actually a great place to throw a party or hold a conference because its somewhat centrally located in New York state. Our room was modernized, clean and comfortable. My one complaint (and the ding of the last star) is that the property advertises electric vehicle charging but doesnt reserve those parking spots for that purpose. Unfortunately, these are the parking spaces closest to the building and the most likely to be occupied first.
I stayed here in September 2021. My room was immaculately clean, and I was impressed that the remote control was even sanitized. The bed was comfortable, there was a great view, it had everything I wanted except maybe a microwave. The restaurant is currently undersupplied and I think understaffed. Its only open M-F for a 3-hour breakfast window and then for dinner (I think, but I was always at my convention, at another hotel, during that time). I only had breakfast there once; the quiche was good, inexpensive, maybe not quite as much breakfast as I would have wanted. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful.
Normally have a great experience at the Hotel Utica, but this time it did not meet our expectations as Hilton Honors members. Bed size was Full, instead of Queen as advertised. Water leaking from the ceiling due to improper maintenance of a previous issue (as stated by maintenance worker). Room was clean, but with a two night stay, towel exchange should have been offered after the first night.
Old world grace with modern accommodations. A wonderful location to unwind with friends and family members. The staff is exceptional, friendly and very accommodating. Central location to everything with walking distance to many unique locations. Have a late night snack and drink at the bar to end your day before your head hits the pillow on your wonderful comfy bed.
We had a lovely stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton Utica. The building is really beautiful. The rooms were large and clean. The beds and linens were super comfortable. We had dinner in Iconic, which was really outstanding. The restaurant is beautiful. The bar was great too. The staff were really terrific all around! Will stay again.
I have been staying here at least two nights a week since about August 2020 for a construction project up here. This hotel has become my second home. Lee, Nicole and the rest of the staff have always made me feel welcome, and are always attentive to any need that may arise. The rooms are always clean, the lobby is stunning, and the fitness center has been a Godsend during this pandemic. I highly recommend anyone stay here, whether it be for business or pleasure
Spacious and comfortable room, great beds and very impressive lobby with beautiful crystal chandeliers. Breakfast is continental and sparse. Close distance to Marcy Correctional Facility if you are visiting a loved one. Everything, but the breakfast, is very nice. The staff is polite and accommodating. Very clean.
The bathroom was incredible. The lighting was fantastic. The water pressure in the shower was perfect and I loved the rough surface on the floor of the shower as well. It was completely slip-proof. Ill definitely be thinking of my Doubletree bathroom experience the next time I spend the night in Utica, New York.
When i first arrived to my room, it had candy wrappers on the floor, i didnt think anything of it, it happens. After a long day at work i was looking forward to taking a warm shower. i noticed red stains on the inner shower curtains, though it might have just been a stain of sorts until i noticed blood stains on one of my towels (disgusting) which led me to believe the stains on the shower curtain were blood as well. What made the stay unbearable is that every evening after a long day of work i would look forward to relaxing in my room in some peace and quite.. let me tell you i got everything but that. kids screaming, someone smoking cannabis daily, (would not be surprised if i got second hand smoke) every evening and throughout the night all one could smell is cannabis, when i asked the front desk if anything could be done, the gentleman said no, it is what is is. The breakfast is nonexistent, just a cold sandwich that you have to heat up yourself and lastly the parking lot was very slippery, I myself fell twice. I recommend going elsewhere, you will get better service for a fraction of the price.
This historical hotel has been beautifully and tastefully remodeled in a way that maintains a connection to the past. The lobby is welcoming and gorgeous, its high ceilings dripping with soft light from gorgeous chandeliers. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The room we stayed in was quite spacious, with enough floorspace for morning yoga. We also found the room to be exceptionally quiet, with little external noise invading our comfortable space, which is almost not often the case in hotels.
My hobby and I recently stayed at the DoubleTree, Utica and could not be happier. We were very impressed with the service from the front desk, the host in the restaurant, the food was Great...the waiters on duty during our stay were TOP Notch. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in this area.Keep up the good work Guys !!!!
I got a king suite with an in room jacuzzi to treat myself because Im a single mom and it was the first time I was kid free for a few months since the covid-19 outbreak shut everything down. The stay was great, the room was clean and very quiet, no noise from the hallway. I gave it 4 starts because there was an issue with the air conditioning and someone had to come reset it and it stopped working about an hour after that, I really didnt want to have keep calling someone to my room to fix it so I just sucked it up. The lobby is beautiful, its an old building with amazing marble pillars, iron rails and big chandeliers. The architecture is something you dont see with modern buildings.
I loved the service that was provided by the restaurant staff. Everyone was very friendly and professional. The only issue I had was with the cleaning service. My room got clean only twice during my 3 week stay. But overall I loved it. Thanks to Rachel and Ashley I will consider coming back in the near future.
Clean, beautiful old hotel. Gorgeous chandeliers. Loved the mirrors in the bathroom. Yummy breakfast buffet. Only negative was we stayed 2 nights and our key cards mysteriously stopped working on both rooms. However, the front desk clerk brought us new ones up right away. Good customer service!
The beauty of the hotel is met by kindness and professionalism of the staff. They make you feel as if your stay in the most important. The hotel is clean, updated, yet reservation of history. There is a frame of the history of the property that helps transform your stay and views.
The rooms are not that expensive, room amenities nice. We stayed in a king suite which was very spacious. The room and hotel were clean. The elevator is a little dated but its part of the charm of the hotel. Staff was helpful. Also there are Tesla chargers at 32amps in the lot.
No ATM on site, no free breakfast unless your a diamond member but we were not told till we had our plates of food, no way to get room cooler than 70..thermostat wouldnt work no matter what, no guide on remote for TV so no way to know what your watching and no.option to buy a movie like weve done at every other hotel Ive even been at. Raining and nasty out so we really wanted a pizza in the room and a movie. On good side though, room was clean, bed was comfy and staff was nice.
The building and the decor were absolutely gorgeous. They gave us a complementary suite upgrade and the bed was super comfy. I am only giving it 4 stars because the air conditioner kept deciding not to work and we had to call multiple times for them to come and fix it in the middle of the night
Our stay was ok but I was charged over $40 for two roll away beds and never informed by the young clerk at check in. When I called back and spoke to a girl that acted as a manager (provided no name or title) she only offered to correct him to inform guests in the future. Won’t be back.
What an incredible hotel. Lets talk about the check-in chocolate chip cookie with walnuts - two thumbs up!! Thats a great welcome. Moving on to the lobby; stunning. Looks like a scene from a movie in the 1940s; pure class. The rooms were furnished well and everything was tight as a button. Ample parking and the staff was very accommodating. Restaurant is accessible through the lobby but i did not try it. I went to Gerbers 1933 Speakeasy across the street. Highly recommended.
The real test of a hotels customer service is how do they handle problems. This is a beautiful historic hotel and I have visited on business 4 times over the last 3 months. This time I was given a room with no heat so I reported it and went to dinner. It could not be fixed quickly so they moved me to another room. In doing so, they kept coming back to my room to bring things to me or take care of a minor issue. They continually checked back with me when they saw me in the lobby to make sure I was ok. The manager, Lee Arthur, approached me on the last day and knew who I was (without asking), even though I had not seen him this trip, and knew about my room change which I was impressed with. Then a few minutes later I literally see him in the parking lot clearing ice and snow off of a customers car. This manager cares about his customers. Every visit I am impressed with the staff and the management of this hotel. When was the last time you experienced a problem with a hotel and actually wound up writing a good review? This hotel has an exceptional staff.
We are having a wedding 9.4.2021 and we wanted to block a room. We had to call 4 different times to get a straight answer. First we called in December, they told us to come back 6 months. It’s the 6 month mark, and they have no idea what they are doing! If you are a bride, do yourself a favor and go else where. We sure will.
Well first impressions are very important to me. from the time I walked into this beautiful historic hotel I felt very welcome I was not expecting that in New York. The front desk staff were very nice. Marla and Rachel in the bar were both awesome. Even though they were busy keeping the bar they made time to talk with everybody and answer all my questions about the area. If i am ever in this area again I will go out of my way to stay here in the future.
Beautiful, vintage ,elegant hotel. This building speaks of history! The lobby is stunning, be sure to take in the view from the 2nd floor overlooking the lobby. The room we had was spacious, the bathroom was bright and large. The hotel staff was friendly and informative.
Stayed for 4 nights - We booked the whirlpool suite for 3 nights and another room for the 4th night. We were told if the suite came available we could stay in the same room for the last night. Received an email a few days before the trip asking if we would like to upgrade which we responded to immediately. Upon checking in the man at the front desk told us we could stay in the same room but to come down Saturday for a new key. When we came down Saturday we were told we need to change rooms and that we were told this originally by the manager which we were not. Not a huge deal if we were told this upon arrival. We have an infant and tons of stuff to move and pack up. What really upset us was that no one ended up even using the room we were in. The sticker for the room sanitizer was still up when we checked out.
It was pleasant stay during our work trip to Utica. Spacious rooms ,very comfy bed with down pillows, renovated with a great taste! We had to ask the stuff to fix few things for us that we were not happy with and they made sure it was fixed.Rooms were clean but could use some extra dusting in some obvious places( like on the top of bedside lamps and bathroom vanity shelves)Other than that -would stay here again!
Very friendly staff, the place is kept clean and tidy, great breakfast and though it is quite dated in terms of the style of furnishings, wallpapers, carpet & such - it is such a pleasant ambiance. The outside surrounding area has been a bit wanting of a cosmetic uplift since I last went. They could use some a few more bright lights where the cars park, the dark mixed with the quiet at night is something. This is otherwise a great accommodation.
Beautifully restored hotel in downtown Utica. The room had all the modern amenities one needs these days: Flat screen TV, blow-dryer in bathroom, microwave, coffee maker & mini-fridge (although ours did not work well at all). Staff was friendly enough. The bartenders in the hotel lobby bar were fantastic!! Those girls were super friendly and personable and made an otherwise bland stay a little more memorable. If you have the unfortunate need to stay in the ghost town that is now Utica, I would highly recommend staying here.
Great Older Grand HotelComfortable RoomBeds were greatBig Double Queen bed Room.Great Shower and BathroomHot Water was great.Clean and well Maintained FacilityFriendly and Helpful Staff MembersFantastic Fitness CenterThey had Treadmills,Bikes, rowers and dumbells and some other workout items.Clean towel and free wired ear buds
This hotel is fantastic! It is absolutely clean and chic with a grand history. Most of the employees will drop you some old facts about the buildings history through prohibition and how it was the site of the first beer sold after. I arrived a few days after the president had visited for a dinner but they was still buzz about him coming. Its located downtown so you are within walking distance of a few restaurants and an amazing bakery.
Stayed at the recently renovated Hilton Hotel Utica. Older building but the renovations were beautifully done. Rooms were modern and spacious, elevators were very quick. All people we dealt with were genuinely friendly. If you are staying in the area it’s a great choice.
Only negative comment I agree with is the older and small TVs. Very clean, very nice and polite staff. Lobby is beautiful.Restaurant and bar quite reasonable, not too busy this time of year. Very attentive staff. I would book this on my next trip. Also, room rates are fantastic.
What a shame that this beautiful hotel was bought by Double Tree. My husband and I along with our very small dog have stayed at this hotel each time on our way to and from Buffalo for over 15 years. We even stayed last year after it was bought. Last year when we called about the dog we were greeted with a lovely person who said yes come we are rethinking our pet policy. However, this year when hoping to book they stated that they did not in fact change their policy and have no intention to do so. What a shame... you lost loyal guests!
Honestly I wish I could like four and a half stars. Mostly because the hotel itself is really nice. The staff is really good and I had no issues with anything except the breakfast buffet. It’s pretty minimal for the cost, but the waitress there was great. I didn’t eat at the restaurant during lunch or dinner so I can’t speak for that but it looked good.Oh also the rooms have pretty big TVs that are wall mounted and the WiFi actually does work unlike some other places I’ve been.Lastly the lobby has this cool mezzanine and I recommend you talk a walk around it. The building is from around 1912 and you can tell that it’s old, it has an old mail chute and a couple other things leftover from the past, but that doesn’t takeaway from the hotel at all as it has modern conveniences.
Hotel leaves a lot to the imagination from the outside with its older historic look bit the awe as you walk in the front doors makes any feelings of dismay disappear quickly. The architecture and atmosphere of this place is amazing and the rooms are just as nice to match. The bar downstairs provides great service and great selection. Easiest 5 stars Ive given.
So good to see this place come alive! Over 60 rooms booked this evening. I would rate this hotel a 5 star if it were not for the lack of ambiance in the ballroom. The lighting was all wrong and it lacked the festive feel of the holidays. Chesterfields food was delicious but the bar staff was untrained and slow. I had to tell the woman that a chardonnay was a white wine, not red. The prices on the liquor were way too much for the area, also. Im not sure our company will book again next year, based on all the negative comments on the price for beer and wine.On the upside, the rooms were perfect, except for the turbo flush, loud toilets. The staff was friendly and helpful.
The majority of the staff and the venue would get 5 stars but the front desk staff would get 0 stars so i subtracted 2 stars in my rating. I contacted the hotel to see if I could check in early and was told my room isnt ready. That was fine, not a big deal so I had a late lunch then arrived at the hotel at 4:30pm to check in, this is an hour and a half after check in time. I was told my room still isnt ready. I was part of a wedding block of rooms and the wedding started in their hotel at 5:15! I was finally given a room key with less than a half hour before the wedding started and ended up being late to the wedding. The front desk staff wasnt even apologetic for any of it. The venue was gorgeous and the staff at the wedding was great but Ill never stay at this hotel again due to the lack of care from the front desk staff.
The room we had was very nice but the second day the AC was disabled. The complementary breakfast was a terrible experience. An hour before it closed there were no plates out. Only one table was cleaned among many unoccupied. The coffee was empty, only a few portions of food remained and was dried out. The milk dispenser was empty and service was nearly non existant.
For those that love history this is a very cool hotel. Lots of detail and interesting furniture, chandeliers, carpets in the main entry area. The rooms are very large and clean with unusual detailing. Very different from the boring run of the mill chain hotels and a very good price. Very close to Hamilton College which is why we stay there. Nice free breakfast in the morning.
This review is based on my wedding experience at the hotel and venue as a whole.I would recommend this venue to someone based solely on the beauty of the space. My husband and I fell in love with the ornate ceilings, chandeliers and beautiful renovations that were made to the building. However, from the very start, the management team and wedding coordination was definitely below average. There were many miscommunications with the food and beverage manager due to the fact that she is not on site most of the time and shes located out of Rochester. For example, we were told when we toured the ballroom that 225 people were the max capacity. After we had decided to choose the venue, they told us the max capacity was 225 without a dance floor in the room. After choosing the venue, my husband, myself and our parents coordinated a time to do our tasting for our dinner menu and when we arrived at the restaurant the wedding coordinator never showed up and when I texted him he said that he made a mistake and had the wrong weekend! So one of the bartenders Rob was nice enough to work with the kitchen and let us try a few dishes. Once again, this was really poor communication on the management/coordination side of things! We had a decent sized wedding with approximately 180 guests. We decided to do a plated menu as the wedding coordinator had mentioned it would be faster with a wedding our size. When it came to the day of our wedding reception, we planned on having dinner served between 6:30 - 7 PM while toast were being wrapped up. However, dinner did not get served to my husband and I until 7:30-7:45. The final tables did not get served until 8:30 PM. So some of my guests were still finishing their dinner at 9 PM at night! Mind you my reception planned on running until 10 PM. I also dont want to forget to mention that the venue forgot to serve the bride and groom champagne for the toasts! The venue was definitely short staffed as they only had four people serving the food for 180 guests. This huge lag in time for dinner pushed back everything! We still had to do our father/daughter dance, mother/son dance, cake cutting and bouquet/garter. Also, this caused us to have very little time for dancing. The one accommodation they did make was they allowed us to extend the reception an extra hour and a half. Which we really had to fight for! Overall, the venue is a beautiful place to have your reception. However, I had to share my experience with the overall management team, wedding coordinator and service, as there is much room for improvement.
The concierge was extremely nice and accommodating. Not crazy about how the Hotel was redecorated by DoubleTree. It now looks too much like a generic 3 star modern hotel. I wish that more of an attempt to make the hotel look like it did 100 years ago was made like what they did with the Hotel Syracuse. The hotel room was large and modern. The temperature was nearly perfect and it was stench free. Loved the hot tub. However, there were a few mystery stains on the couch which troubled me. Overall, its a pretty nice hotel and the price is right especially if you have AAA.
I really like the hotel itself - two star rating because of the restaurant. Incredibly rude and slow staff. Ive been there multiple times for business and the amount of time it takes them to get to my table to take my order, bring me my order, and come around to give me the check is painful. You pretty much have to flag them down. What makes it worse is that out of the three times Ive been there, there has only been about 1-3 other customers seated. On one occasion my order was wrong, and when I tried to tell the waitress, she straight up ignored me and walked away. I may stay at this hotel again, but definitely will not be visiting the restaurant.
The building is absolutely beautiful... built in 1912... the room was spotless, the bed was very comfy and the shower was got and powerful..because it was built in 1912 it does not have the same modern tech benefits as some other hotels.. if you can lest to relax and enjoy the ambience it is a great stay!
I do enjoy staying here. Recently relocated and pretty nice inside and out. My only gripes are the room service options are a bit lacking considering theres a restaurant in the hotel. Also whoever has cleaned my room this week didnt do a great job. Other than that its a good stay here.
Be careful!! because they overcharged me and then banned me from the hotel because i wrote a review which i have the right to do. I called corporate about it, and they said its the managers discretion. And so now im filing a claim for discrimination because im simply being banned per the managers own words “because of our phone disagreement.” Which is ridiculous to ban someone because you didnt like what they said on the phone. And the customer was right. I made the reservation at 174 rate, if you apply a triple A discount on top of that, no way ever should your rate be 171 for the night. They increased the rate to 183 and i had made a reservation two WEEKS prior. So it doesnt matter if you reserve, your rate can change. And if you complain about it, theyll just ban you instead of doing their jobs and providing correct service. So now i will be filing a discrimination complaint Because the manager and his feelings make decisions for the hotel, and not the actual rules they should go by. I would absolutely recommend staying somewhere else if youre looking for a pleasant stay somewhere.
Incredible redecorating of a Utica Staple! This is a luxurious, high end, old world ornateness w/ new world technology! So very beautiful! You just want to sit and enjoy the views from within the lobby!I went to a fundraiser in the upper banquet room & it was very comfortable but extremely warm! No food was served. But the ambiance & beauty of the Doubletree by Hilton was otherworldly as I grew up around this building throughout my life & its change is radically non invasive but outstandingly beautiful! Thank you to Doubletree for keeping its amazing architecture!!
The Hotel is in the midst of remodeling. Several floors - mine included - were complete. The lobby remodel is imminent as of this review. I would give this a 5 star review but without the lobby facilities, it wouldnt be accurate. However, the rooms are absolutely up-to-date and extremely comfortable. The beds are I dont want to get up quality. They have large flat screens with clean displays (didnt spend much time on content but assume it is whatever the local cable provide has).As for the staff... I left a device charger in my room (doh). I called 2 days later when I realized where it must be. Rene answered the phone and went the distance. She photographed 2 chargers (I am not the only sloppy packer) and texted me the shots. I picked mine and she boxed it, took it to the PO and had it in my hands the next day. That dear reader, is service.I dont know what youre doing in Utica but if you go, I highly recommend this hotel. Well priced and a good value.
I liked the hotel very much and reviewed it highly on one of their emails.I was just going through my bills and noticed I was charged 52 dollars for breakfast. I would just like to say I hate getting ripped off and I was. This is a heads up for future guests. I blame myself
From our brief walk through, this place looks great. Past stays at the historic Hotel Utica were sad and disappointing. Now remodeled and run by Hilton, the results are very exciting and offer positive prospects for a decent hotel again in downtown Utica, at last. We will stay here on our next family visit to the area and will report more from a residents view. Meanwhile, we recommend trying this hotel once again!
Upon check in I realized that the bathroom was covered in facial and body hair everywhere. The very sweet receptionist came up and cleaned it all out for me so I was relieved. A few hours later I run myself a bath and once in the bath I realized that the same body hair was all over the walls of the shower/tub area. I called front desk and they said they would let housekeeping know. In the am before leaving to go mining I reminded the hotel staff about the hairs in the bathroom and they assured me they would take care of it. When my son and I returned to our room 8 hours later covered from head to toe in rock dust I got ready to take a shower only to see that the bathroom had been restocked but the walls hairs remained. I got dressed and asked the front desk if someone could come clean it Before I showered my self and don. The first morning my son and I went down for breakfast at 8 am only to be informed that the cook did not come into work so breakfast was not ready yet. Being gluten free the eggs and breakfast meat was really all we could eat besides fruit. We returned at 8:45 and breakfast was ready however no serving spoons had been put out so we had so do some improvising to get the food on our plates. After breakfast we got packed to go mining and I realized that all the organic fruit I bought the night before for our day trip mining was frozen rock solid. They came and fixed the fridge but sadly we had to throw all the fruit away. Anything we put in it after it was fixed also froze. In our second nights stay I woke at 12:30am to my son being super restless and quickly realized that the room had become warm. I turned the A.C. up but it would not come on. I waited about 45 minutes before calling the front desk and they needed to come up to restart it. I had to get up get dressed and turn a light on in the room for them to come in to restart the A.C. he mentioned on the way out he had to flip a breaker before coming in the room and restating the A.C. I asked if this happens often as it seemed to be no big deal to him and he said when the weather changes outside it does happen. Now here I am wide awake go figure and writing this review. I am very I pleased with our stay here at the double tree hotel in Utica.
Still in process of renovations, very nice modern rooms, with excellent architecture being a historic building. Only issue I had seems to be the HVAC unit needing cleaned, with it on I had bad allergies with it off I was perfectly fine. Definitely would stay here again regardless
The lobby is very nice and looks like something out of Gatsby, but the rooms are filled with old furniture, carpets, and TVs (had a tube TV). Marriott did buy recently and was renovating a lot, so I expect those to be eventually updated. All in all it was fine, but nothing that great
I cannot stress enough that we were not told about the renovation. We had 8 rooms booked back in February for July not knowing that their bar and restaurant were closed. A wedding was being held in their lobby and a posting was put up that we should be quiet when we entered to get to the elevators. Nobody in our group would ever stay there again even when it becomes Double Tree.
I planned a wedding a Hotel Utica to occur on August 8th of this year. Our contract was for a minimum of 120 guest. Due to COVID I was concerned that Hotel Utica would not be able to accommodate. So I contacted Hotel Utica on April 18th in reference to how Hotel Utica was handling their weddings. Rose at Hotel Utica advised that we should consider a back up date as they were unsure of how everything was going to proceed forward with the state. Based on everything other Vendor I had already paid no other dates were going to work for our wedding.Again I had to reach out to Rose on May 4th to get another update on how they were moving forwards since we had 158 guest invited already and were 3 months way from the wedding with NO information from the venue. Rose advised that the state does not share anything information with them but continued to push that we select a back up date. I made it very clear that we were not rescheduling the wedding and I needed to know how they would refer to for re-opening.Rose advised that the following To the best of our knowledge the weddings will be considered Like a restaurant re-opening. The entertainment industry refers to concerts and festivals, etc. As far as we know August 8, 2020, is still a viable date. We are still scheduling events in that same time frame. Based on the news update today we will be opening in June.Fast forward to 32 days before our wedding, July 6th with not other communication from Hotel Utica; Rose advises again that we should reschedule because Should you wish to stick with your original date, we are now able to host larger groups, but not up to 150 yet.At this point I still have 158 guest invited and no information on how many guest can actually come to the wedding. Just that they can not have up to 150 yet. So I spend several days attempting to get a quantity of guest that could attend from the Hotel Utica. Rose responded with These mandates are publicly available on the NY Forward website.I should not have to look up how many guest their establishment can hold, but I do based off what makes sense from prior communications that they would considered a restaurant. So they NY website says that they can run at 50% capacity. So I once again reach out to Rose to find out what their capacity is for the Lobby (Ceremony) and Crystal Ball Room (Reception).Roses responds on July 12th with the following The guest count restriction applies to businesses and private citizens. Neither of us are allowed to exceed the number specified by the mandate on gatherings. Our capacity does not influence the number allowed at a gathering.I never heard from Hotel Utica again. I would never recommend the venue to anyone. Which is a shame because this historic building is gorgeous. But the individual that is running the events is so unprofessional. After July 12th I began looking for a different Venue and was still married on August 8th.
No microwave in room nor in lobby. Was offered to have something heated up in employee microwave though, really? No ice machine on floor, couldnt find it elsewhere. Headache inducing thumping music until early hours of the morning. Trains coming through whistling often. Elevators extremely small. Wifi wasnt working.Stay there again? No, not worth the money
Above and Beyond Service! I was here overnight during a big snowstorm, I woke up to have my car covered in at least 5-6 inches of snow. It was an unexpected storm and I had nothing with me to brush off the car, or even walk safely in the snow. As I made an attempt to get to my car, a gentleman from the SALES OFFICE of the hotel ran up to me, asked which was my car and completely cleaned it off. Incredible service and greatly appreciated!
Went to the new and improved Hotel Utica for a late holiday party. The hotel is currently finishing renovations, and is fairly impressive looking, the chandeliers in the room were quite large and impressive, however. The appetizers were lackluster and featured room temperature chicken, the buffet itself was decent, with a variety including chicken, pasta, salad, meatballs, etc.
Not a good experience. The room, while spacious, was dingy and uncomfortable. The bedding had wholes in it, and the pillows were so old and worn out, I wasnt sure if they were pillows or some kind of sad make-shift pillow... How does that happen? Upon waking up, my wifes marino sweater, which shed left on the floor, had a bunch of wholes eaten through it; likely by carpet beetles. The hotel did not offer a refund. The staff was mostly rude, and unprofessional. Happy Anniversary :/
Not good,Hilton took a charming and historic property and bastardized it with too much modernity. We arrived at 9pm, one elevator was broken as we went to our room. We entered our room and noticed it had not been cleaned. Sheets and furnishings in disarray. We asked for another room and they didnt have one. They also have only one person on staff and could not clean the existing room. They refunded our money and sent us on our way to the Fairfield.I wonder what Conrad Hilton would think.
This is a really cool old hotel from the grand days. I stayed one night and had dinner at the restaurant. As a frequent business traveler I enjoy experiences that are different from the sterile chain hotels and the Hotel Utica fits the bill well. I would recommend it and will definitely return when Im in the area again.
I stay in hotels upwards of 12 times a month and found this one to be one of the worst Ive ever been to. It is considered the top of the line for Choice Hotels, but I thought I was driving up to subsidized housing in the Bronx. The picture online doesnt even match the building youre looking at. My lampshades were cracked and falling in on themselves. The bed had a huge dip in the middle, and the room itself looks like it was last remodeled in the 50s. When they upgraded me to the suite, it was marginally better...ish, but still gross. The privacy door insert had what appeared to be some sort of pervert lube all over it, and was definitely not going to touch it. Nasty nasty nasty. Truly...do NOT waste your money here.
We got to the hotel at 5pm - mind you, check in is at 4pm... so they had an hour extra and our room wasnt clean yet. Then, when we got to our queen bed room, we had a bed that was only a little bigger than a twin bed... when we called them at the front desk, all they said was thats a queen and hung up. We paid $160 for that, and they refused to give us a different room or a discount. We are never staying here again.
Best Hotel room we ever stayed in and we have stayed in over 12 hotels this year alone. This was our second stay in the last month and Fran and the staff was so helpful. Fran should get a raise for her amazing customer friendly service. Gerald was equally as accomodating as well as the restaurant owner and staff there. We came in with our 2 kids and were given the most amazing room a family could ask for in the Julian Suite on the 9th floor. Even though there was a college ball celebration downstairs, we were never bothered at all by any noise in our room. The suite was much like home with a king bed, full sleeper, 2 TVs, fridge, large jacuzzi, shower, seperate bathroom, seperate washroom, and plenty of space for this family of 4. This was our second stay as mentioned and the only place we will ever stay at while passing through Utica. In fact, we pulled over a couple hours early just to stay here again.
If you want a touch of royalty and 19th century elegance, then stay here. The renovations were quality, and, the character and charm of this Historical Landmark were carefully preserved. Stop across the street for a taste of Francis Ps Ocean Blue. Quality and class from A to Z.TECHtutor. Tex Avvie. June 2020.
The Hotel Utica is finally under management capable of delivering amenities one would expect from a hotel instead of expecting its history and architectural flourish to justify its nightly rate. Be sure and walk across the street to find lamp-posts covered in knitted sleeves and a replica of the liberty Bell. Dont stray too far though, Lafayette street has never been welcoming after dark.
Great rework of the old Hotel Utica. Glad that when Hilton bought it out, that they were able to squeeze Hotel Utica back in the name... So Hilton Hotel Utica. They are slowly getting it better and better. Its in a prime location next to the Train station, the Aud, and local area restaurants. I know it will only get better now that Doubletree owns it.
I recently attended a conference at the Hotel Utica, soon to be a Double Tree. It is a beautiful, historic hotel with an open lobby, cast iron staircases, and during my December visit, a Christmas tree that must have been 15 feet tall. There were not enough seats in the meeting room for all of the attendees of my conference, but the hotel staff worked quickly to bring in more seats. Likewise, they were very prompt at refilling the coffee stations throughout the day. While touring the nearby FX Matt Brewing Company,I also learned that the first legal beer served after prohibition was served here. Make some history of your own (with or without beer) at the Hotel Utica.
Family stayed there last night....Loved the history and the main lobby was beautiful.....the hostess was VERY friendly and helpful..The room was a little outdated (but given the history makes since) clean and beds were comfortable.....We ate at jims chowder house (not a big place small but very quant).. which was FABULOUS....had the seafood ciponnio...will definitely stay here again...
I booked the room months before. Unfortunately the receptionist was very unprofessional and even if my request was also for an upgrade I didn’t get it. The lady in front desk was very rude and impolite and she didn’t tried at least to help me to change my room which was facing to an wall... never come back ☹️

2022-06-01Very convenient. Close to many restaurants. The hotel has a nice bar and restaurant in the hotel as well. The staff is friendly and accommodating. My server at the in-house Iconic restaurant made great recommendations on the local beers on tap. I would definitely stay here again.

2022-02-22This was hands down one of the nicest Hilton brand hotels I have been in. The hotel itself is massive, the rooms as massive, and there is a lot of nice details and touches. The staff was incredible during my three night stay too. This has now become the one and only hotel I will stay at in Utica.

2022-01-18Our wedding weekend at the Hotel Utica was beyond our expectations - everything was just perfect!Maria (our event manager) seemed to be everywhere at once and made us feel incredibly special, and made sure our guests were taken care of. Lee (hotel manager) also made sure our guests were taken care of from check in to check out.We loved using the hotel lobby for an informal welcome and goodbye space. We loved the food and our killer after party. We loved the convenience of having a restaurant on site and an amazing bakery Wisk across the street to make our wedding cake and cater our wedding party breakfast. Our vendors were so pleased with the care they received. We had everything we needed to get ready and have the happiest weekend.Dont think twice about booking your wedding or large event here (and when you do, get your cake from Wisk and book Big Guys Photo booth and Silver Arrow Band - they made our perfect wedding complete!)

2022-04-03Positive: Welcoming staff, was greeted at check-in with a warm cookie. Very clean hotel. On site restaurant was very convenient. Negative: Having had an early morning meeting off site, I returned to hotel prior to check-out time to find housekeeping had already stripped the room. I would have used remaining time prior to checkout to rest prior to the 6+ hour drive I had ahead.

2022-01-19We loved the ambiance and history of this place and the location is very convenient to any downtown activities you have planned. I also appreciated the Tesla EV chargers on site which were surprisingly close to the entrance instead of at the back of the lot like most places do.Our room was spacious and clean. Now for why it lost 2 stars from me...The bed was uncomfortable and the climate control in the room was bipolar. It went from hot 🔥 to freezing 🥶 all night long. We also had an issue when checking in as the front desk woman couldnt find our Hilton Honors account and also had someone elses credit card info on our reservation. We checked back the next morning and the gentleman working the desk was able to rectify both issues quickly and easily.

2022-01-08We met a couple for dinner but did not stay in the hotel. The food was excellent. But I was extremely disappointed in the renovations. The historic charm has been stripped away and it now looks like any other hotel. I give the food five stars but the hotel three because its average and its looks like every other hotel.

2022-05-19We had a short stay for genealogy / regional research. The ambience of the hotel (modernized, but the original 1912 structure) is wonderful. The staff is excellent.A couple of suggestions: 1) breakfast should be included with the room rates (it is not, apparently at all); 2) in a room configured to accommodate up to four people, there need to be more chairs and a reasonably-sized table to sit and eat at.The room furnishings were comfortable. The closet was large. The bathroom was very clean with fresh linens. The floor of the bathrub should have a better texture to it. Disabled people arent the only ones who can benefit from a truly non-slip tub.We didnt go to the fitness center; we didnt try the television. It was cold and rainy the night of our stay so we ate in the hotel restaurant. It has a Mediterranean / Italian slant, so selection was limited, but one of us had asiago chicken with pasta, which was quite nice; the other had haddock stuffed with crab - it was delicious.Breakfast (not included with the room rate, which was a minus) had a very limited selection and was good, but not excellent. Our choices were quiche (made with asiago - everything had parmesan, asiago, or both!), and a muffin-egg sandwich,. Also on the menu were bacon (in a couple of options), sausage, eggs, oatmeal, fresh fruit, dry cereal... pretty much standard fare, but not standard prices. The bottomless coffee was a real plus, though.
