A little hard to review this pool because it’s so hard to get in. They seem to be very stringent with their rules and on a hot day you may be waiting outside on the line for long periods of time. You have to come to the pool dressed to get in the pool so no shoes or regular clothes. Even if you bring your changing clothes with you. It’s not meant for you to change when you are at the pool. I’ll update this review if I ever get in the pool but the way this pool is set up I may not even come back.
The staff OMG the staff are so friendly and courteous. The facilities are well maintained and the bathrooms are clean. I went today for the first time and I was unaware I had to bring my own lock. Well the facilities manager held my bag in the office until we left the pool which in NYC parks you rarely see workers do this. Definitely recommend!!! Will be coming again
Clean, nice flowers and chairs, fun games... however! Rules are rediculous and staff is rude. No cell phones (staff explained so peepers dont take pics?! Which of course can happen anywhere), no newspapers (books ok), must get wet before going in pool, only white t-shirts. I was carrying my 3m old in in a fabric carry cot that I didnt want to put on the wet shower floor, so I wet my legs before leaving the locker room and staff told me I must get fully wet. So I asked her nicely how am I supposed to do that with the baby and she said well I didnt tell you to bring your baby here, you did that so you figure it out
A nice pool. Often without huge crowds. However, be prepared to be treated as a convict. From the moment you approach the front gate you are met by a woman who will treat you like a prison guard, talking down to you like you are a peon. Rules! Rules! Lots of rules! Feeling into your shorts for a mesh liner...prisoner-fashion. And if you pass that test you must also wear a white, completely white t-shirt if you plan on just supervising and not swimming. My friends sitter was barred from entering for her blue shirt AND blue shorts! The website specifies that only T-shirts must be white! Once you pass those tests you are required to rinse off communally in a freezing cold shower before entering the pool. Nice! Once you pass that test you are admitted to the pool which is very nice. Hungry, thirsty? No food, no drink, no cell phone. What, you didnt bring your own padlock? Sorry, we cant help you... Get the picture? The place is great except that its antiquated and awful. Come prepared and you can make it work, make a mistake and you will be summarily denied entrance. Desperate need to update these conditions. Come on NYC, this is 2016!
They do a great job at ensuring the facilities remain clean and that everyone follows the policies and procedures set forth. My children truly enjoy this public pool and the upgrades with the bright painting make this place even more pleasurable thank you New York City Parks
Double D Pool! A proud WPA achievement. Its definitely not upscale (to put it gently), but its a great, safe, pool with a kiddie pool as well. Free lunches for all kids in the summer (but grownups, bring your own snacks, there are water fountains but no concession stand). And yep, there are rules, but once you do it once or twice you know the system and its easy. T-shirts do have to be plain white, but fyi you can wear swim shirts of any color.
The Douglass and Degraw pool is located in a slightly isolated part of brooklyn. It could even be described as sketchy. Though rough looking on the outside, this little pool is a haven for locals during the sweltering New York summer. The people who work at the D and D take their jobs very seriously as well.

2021-07-25I hesitate to review this pool because it’s actually a semi little secret. But it really is so great, I want to rave. The pool is very clean and well kept. There’s two lanes reserved at all times it seems for laps. The baby pool area is so nice, my baby got to play there without being splashed a ton by bigger kids. The regular pool though is very nice too. Life guards on duty AND additional guards walking around often to make sure people are following the rules and are safe. Everyone who works there is SOOO nice! They all worked to make sure pool goers were having a good time. They all seem to enjoy working there and working together. They were all super helpful, going above and beyond for us - really. I will definitely be coming back.

2017-07-03This seems like a pool that would suck, but it doesnt. Dont expect much from the locker rooms, but everything is clean, the staff is nice and attentive, and they give free lunches to the kids. A great public summer spot in Brooklyn.

2021-07-18Pretty good local pool for those that fancy a quick dip and some sun rays, and dont want to trek it out to the beach. They dont let you have your cell phones in the pool area, which means you need to use their lockers which means you have to bring your own combination lock. I plan to go back.

2021-06-30Just got back from a short outing there today and was impressed with the staffs inclusivity towards special needs children. Everybody was open and giving, and it made me want to come back as soon as possible! The pool is kept up nicely - just a heads-up, however, it seems the entire pool is appx. 3 feet deep, so dont go expecting diving or anything - perfect for us, though! Lifeguard stations are well-staffed, with lifeguards frequently also in satellite positions, so safety is obviously a priority. Its a great public pool, and the staff really cares.

2021-08-17The staff was very polite to us. It was not crowded, they test the water levels often. I enjoyed myself. The pool itself needs some updating. However nice place to bring your kid.

2021-08-02Absolutely loved my experience here beforehand I went to Commodore Barry Pool and not even 10 minutes in I left. You can see my review over at Commodore Barry Pool if you’re interested. I’ll continue to come to this pool. Loved everyone’s attitude, the help I received and the fun I had with my little family. Thank you to the workers for making it a good time.

2021-08-10We LOVE this pool! It is clean and not crowded. The staff is super nice and parking is easy (so is public transportation!). It feels like a little paradise in the city.

2021-02-11I am a day care provider and have been taking the children and my own child to Douglas and Degraw Pool, for the past 18 years. Their rules are very strict, but I can relate. Some of the staff are nice, but there was a staff member there yesterday who was very unprofessional and disorderly.I was unable to access my locker because there were some senior citizens getting dressed directly in front of them. I had to wait until they finished. I was getting dressed and dressing the kids and the staff member who is very dark in complexion came in the locker room and repeatedly said, Its my lunch break and I need to go to lunch. You are taking too long. You are ruining my lunch break. I told her that we heard her and we were moving as fast as we could. I said, we couldnt take the kids outside naked. She went on complaining. At this point my daughter said, alright. The worker made another comment and I ignored her. While leaving, I went out first. When my daughter came out, I heard her call my daughter ugly and they began arguing. She insisted that my daughter said something to her, when my daughter exited. I went back in and she asked the other staff if my daughter had said something to her and they never responded.I asked for her name, so I could report her. No one wanted to volunteer the information. The very dark skinned employee with the kelly green shirt, went on to say that my daughter and I were playing with her because she had on a green shirt. This took place while she walked with a supervisor and a security guard to their suburban.A visit to this pool is comparable to a visit to a correctional facility. Some of the staff, mostly the women, are obessesed with power. They are rude and lack professionalism. The small upgrade to the pool area is nice, however, they are in dire need of new lockers; most are broken.Last year, I refused to use the childrens pool, it reeked of urine. Before the shower water was extremely cold; now it can get extremely hot. You have to shower fast.
