You can smell the wood fired oven as soon as you open your car door and the enticing smell doesnt dissapoint. The atmosphere is urban trendy and clean. We were greeted immediately and sat near a window. The staff was pleasant and the service was efficient. The selection of wood fired pizzas, sandwiches, gyros and appetizers had flavorful and interesting ingredient combinations and were very attractively arranged. They have a small but above average wine list that is reasonably priced and a wide selection of local and domestic craft beers on draught and in the can. The beer menu is cleverly displayed on tvs in between the sports channels. I had the chicken spinach wood fired bendover sandwich and my wife had the sausage and pepper gyro. My sandwich was a little bland and I didnt care for the mayonnaise based Cole slaw, but my wifes gyro and German potato salad were phenomenal. The sausage was well seasoned and terrifically blackened on the grill creating a savory aroma, taste and texture. Considering the reasonable prices of the food and beverage on this pub menu and the nice atmosphere and friendly staff this would be a great regular place to go when you dont feel like cooking.
We had a lovely date night! Megan the manager/waitress took excellent care of us. The food was delicious, drinks were good, and the dessert was yummy too! (Burgers, Long Island Iced Tea, Moscow Mule, and Mud Pie Milkshake. Would definitely go back!! Thanks Megan for taking such great care of us! 😊👏🏻
The server we had was the best weve had in years. She was awesome, very professional and on point so much so we didnt have to ask for a single thing. The food was incredible! We ate so much we could barely walk! The pizza dough was by far the best Ive ever had from anywhere outside the NYC area. Better even then a famous brick oven spot in Staten. Just wow.
We arrived around 6pm on a Friday night and they had a table available for our party of 2 adults and 3 kids. We ordered 2 pizzas a salad and an appetizer. Everything came out quickly, was the correct temperature, and was tasty. Drink refills were quick. Great experience!
They have a large variety in the menu and know a number of items are delicious. For me, they have the Best brick oven pizza!! Bonus you can get it with fresh mozzarella, add ricotta and a large variety of specialty pizzas. Add a great local beer makes for a great date night or dinner with friends. They dont take reservations, so you may have to time your arrival or wait a few minutes for a table or booth but worth the wait if you want to sit for dinner... or consider take out.Ok, not always available but their mojitos are the best! Depending on their mint availability, but if they have very generous with mint and very refreshing summer cocktail!
This place is great! Service was excellent and friendly. Very accommodating to custom order and price is moderate. Resturant was clean and music was awesome. I ordered their loaded fries which were smothered in a home made cheese sauce, scallions and bacon. Was a perfect portion and filled me up nicely. Wife ordered their wood fired buffalo mac and cheese and was very satisfied. The pasta was tender and cheese sauce was amazing. Will definitely be coming back!
This is an excellent local gastropub with a lot of local craft beer choices, a full bar, and a well curated menu. It has a friendly atmosphere with on site parking. The prices are resonable given the high quality of the food and beverages. I would highly recommend this place to locals and travellers alike.
One of my favorite places in Downtown Glens Falls. I usually get a burger (typically the Bacon Bleu- yum), but I tried the Sweet Pea Hush Puppies. Soooo good. I usually try a new beer from their extensive & ever changing line-up. I go alone a lot & they are totally great about that whether I grab a table or sit at the bar.
Elevated pub fare. This place does a great job. The burgers are done well, appropriately charred with fresh toppings and artisan buns. The fries are delicious. Obviously fresh cut with a great seasoning. Probably the best fries available anywhere. The boozy milkshakes are a nice touch, something you dont see many other places. The salads are well constructed. I had a beet salad that had feta instead of the goat cheese youd typically see on such a dish. Much better with feta. I truly hate goat cheese. But what I really have to tell you about is the star of the show; the French Onion Fukkin Soup. Wow is really the only word for it. The stock is perfection. Velvety, smooth, deep, complex, beefy. And maybe I detected a small amount of bacon flavor that made it truly next level. The onions were a perfect al dente texture, the buttered croutons still somewhat crispy with good heft even after a few minutes in the broth. The guyere cheese on top was broiled to a golden brown. Id go back again and again just for that soup. I really dont think theres a better French onion soup in the Capitol District. Anyway, this place will never get a Michelin star because its really just bar food, but if youre in the mood for this kind of thing, youd be hard pressed to do better than this place. The price isnt cheap, but for what you get its not bad either. A good value overall and I highly recommend it.
Decent food but very expensive for what you get. Greek salad was just ok and $16.00 with a little bit of diced chicken. Would definitely not go back. Wings were below average. My local pizza shop has way better wings. I dont mind paying more for quality food, this was not.
I will no longer order take out. Every single time I have order pick up everything has been ice cold. I’m honestly sick of it. The food is absolutely fantastic ONLY if your eating in and it’s served fresh from the kitchen. The servers are always great an fully accommodating. There are two specific women at the front, possibly managers that always have a trash attitude and when there not being nasty, there beyond fake and it’s uncomfortable. I can only assume the kitchen has absolutely NO COMMUNICATION and it seems to overflow to the front of the house. Ordering to go is like standing in the smoke of a bon fire and not moving, expecting to have a great experience and not. I had a pick up time of 7:17, arrived at 7:20 knowing how busy they typically are. I was approached after letting them know I was there and was told it wasn’t ready yet (as expected). What I didn’t expect tho, was to wait an additional 54 minutes and having to call 9 times until they answered for them to tell me they’ll check, being put on hold for 3 minutes. While STILL WAITING ON HOLD, I was approached with my order. I hung up, drove the 5 minutes it takes me to get home to find every single thing I ordered ice cold. You could tell they made the pizza first and it sat the whole entire time. I want to correct my self, the Mac and cheese was “warm” and being fluent in The BOH setting, this was merely because they bake the Mac and cheese in that aluminum container and possibly the last item made of the order. Fries tasted like they had sat longer than just being in a basket, the “hot” cheese fondue had already started to solidify and was also at room temp…. Need I saw more. Tired of being disappointed over food that is at its prime when served fresh. It’s miserable to dine in because it’s always so packed with locals who fill the bar and over flow to the table to continue to drink and snack on the same 2 appetizers they order for the sake of taking up a whole table. They need new staff and a bigger location to accommodate their customers. You would think you would at least get hot food when you walk away paying $73 on a pizza, fries, chicken tenders, Mac & cheese and chicken wings.
Food is very good, choices are plenty, staff is excellent, burgers especially are nicely done!Update:DTCT still makes excellent burgers, however their gyro (schwarma) meat is sadly heated up frozen bits of supposed beef, not sliced from a rotating spit, and the pieces are all uniform bits and have that sponge texture.
We are out of towners, first time here. Our friends, from the area, picked it, for the main reason that it had outdoor seating. I would say, overall, all the food was excellent. Would definitely go there again. However, our waitress was one that takes the whole tables order without writing anything down, which always makes me nervous. I dont remember a time a waitress like that got it all right. Needless to say, I think my husbands order was the only thing she didnt get wrong. My friend asked for no onions but got them. Her husband ordered a salad with his chicken fingers and got french fries instead. They gave him the wrong dipping sauce and I order pulled pork and got chicken. I really wish waitresses would not not do that. And as always, then I have to wait for my correct food while everyone else is eating. Other than that, we had a great time, and like I said, the food was great!
Amazing food, wonderful staff. The best wings around. Seriously some of the best pub food you will ever have, and they are always consistently great. They are always friendly and welcoming, but bonus points to them for their incredible service during COVID. Weve driven from NYC for fresh air, a hike, and a box of wings on more than one occasion now. We are happy to support a great small business that shows they care about their staff and customers saftey, and takes this seriously, while still delivering us delicious food.
My cousin and I visited this establishment on our first trip upstate and we left with our bellies full and palates satisfied. The wings were my fav dipped in their garlic Parmesan sauce *salivates* Our waiter Chet or Chad? was attentive and helped us narrow down what to eat.
Ordered takeout while in town for the weekend. The pretzel appetizer was not pretzels, it was basically just balls of dough, no pretzel taste at all. The fries with the burger had no garlic taste and simply tasted as if they were marinated in spoiled oil. The Mac and cheese was inedible. Overall the food was awful and left my husband and I feeling sick.
The starter plates werent clean. There was bits of food on them. When the wait staff went to find new ones over heard them asking why they couldnt find any clean ones. They brought out completely different plates from the back room. The menus had food all over them and were sticky. The food was very bland. There was little to no seasoning on them. They did not prepare our food to our specifications. The only good part was the air smelt better then how our food tasted. The wait staff was very nice and attentive.
Great service, and delicious food. Went to lunch and got an appetizer of the Buffalo dip and it came out pretty quick. It was the best Buffalo dip weve ever had. The food came out perfect timing. It was also delicious. The service was quick and friendly. Highly recommend.
Downtown City Tavern is a great place for lunch and dinner with friends, family, or for work related meals. I have been here many times for lunch, and you really can’t pick a bad meal here. They have great mac & cheese, pizza, and loaded fries, to name a few. I wish I had thought to take some photos the last time I was there!
We stumbled on this place about 5 or 6 years ago when another tavern nearby was closed. We are so glad we found it! DTCT has amazing food, friendly service and a great variety of local beers and ciders. Try the slipper bread. Even if you only came for a drink, try the slipper bread. Seriously.
Most food we have ordered was really good. Our server, we have had a few times is very good and accommodating. He was Host last time I went in for pickup and was again very accommodating when our pickup order took 3x the amount if time the app said. Thank you! Wish I knew your name
Nothing special over priced and basic service like you bring somebody burgers and fries and dont ask if you want ketchup or anything and just walk away there was no reason I would want to go back I do appreciate the Owen writing back also understand price increase I also work at a restaurant but due to certain little key points in service and Jack and Coke was served in a flute glass that held about 8 oz compared to a 12 oz and charge 9 bucks and a $2 San agria was just a glass of wine with a cherry and a fourth of a slice of Orange which was also 9 bucks . the waitress that started to serve us was really good and then she was doing other stuff and somebody else took over before she left and it was poor from that point on we did the survey that you left in the book so you probably can figure out the time frame like Im not saying nothing bad just nothing for me to want to like be like this place is great
The beer selection is commendable however my Artisan Pizza was not. The pie came out in reasonable time, well done on the bottom but the dough under the topping was barely cooked. Needless to say the crust was not crispy. The staff was attentive and friendly and the TVs are well positioned for viewing sports. Overall a decent place to catch the game and get a bite to eat.
Went for the first time on a Saturday night recently to meet up with old friends and I was so pleasantly surprised!!! Lovely interior, a bit small, but they seemed to do good business and keep things moving. I had the wood fired chicken wings and OH MY GOODNESS. Life changing. They were the best wings Ive had in the longest time. HIGHLY recommend!! Ive been telling all my friends. The rest of the menu also looks amazing, I cant wait to come back and try more. Great service and drinks as well!
This place is awesome. They want to meet your eccentric tastes, and are happy to see people raise their culinary freak flags. The quality is phenomenal, and their pizza crust comes out perfect.Me and my wife will definitely make this our go to place to celebrate and have a good time.
One of my favorite places here in town. Friendly service, awesome food, nice selection of local brews! Couldnt really ask for more. Its just a good atmosphere to have a couple drinks and something good to eat for a reasonable price.Ive had good experiences with their takeout as well, but I recommend stopping in or having your meal right out on their patio!
Yelled at and repeatedly bumped down the list waiting for a table all because I accidently had my mask below my nose. Once I was aware I of course fixed. She didnt care much though, letting people who just walked in sit down while my family had to wait for 45 minutes outside in 5 degree weather because there were 15 Doordash guys waiting for pick ups inside.Ironically enough, then seated next to a group of guys who were there exclusively drinking and not eating, which as of writing this is against our Governors rules. From the looks of their condition they had been there atleast an hour and showed no signs of leaving when we were done.If I was the waitress I wouldnt be too happy either, these two guys were taking up a table of four, which is all of 3-4 tables the poor girl had.But hey the pizza is good, and the service was great
We ordered the French Onion Soup and caprese salad to start and the soup was fine, but had very little cheese. The salad was tiny for the price. For mains we had the burger and the Medusa Pizza. burger was good and the fries were really tasty but the pizza was very wet. It comes with aubergine on it and if thats not pre-cooked properly it can make the pizza wet. Pizza taste was not great and my wife who loves veggies was not a fan. For dessert we ordered the fried dough and they came with powdered sugar and nothing else. They were really bland and did not taste like much. We asked for whipped cream to dip them in. We also ordered a mud slide as a dessert drink and it was also bland. The atmosphere is really nice and overall its a good little spot, but at the end of the evening for the 2 of us plus tip cost me $100. I paid cash and admittedly did not say anything because my wife hates doing that. I was really looking forward to it and really disappointed with our experience and food quality. Our Server was pleasant but busy and forgot a few small things here and there, but overall was fine. We still tipped 20%. I would give it 2.5 if I could.
I visited when traveling through the region. The pizza and milkshakes were delicious and the service was good. My colleagues had chicken tenders and found them on the dry side but flavorful. I dislike the new trend of putting all of the beer choices on an electronic menu and not on a paper list. It definitely swayed me from having a beer. Overall, worth stopping here if you are in town and want pizza.
Great menu selection, friendly and accommodating staff. The staff was balancing take out orders and the flux of people coming in to dine as the covid restrictions let up. Meal wasnt fast but due to the circumstances we were very patient and staff checked on us all the time and kept our drinks refilled. Thank you all for your services.
Nice cozy place, tucked away from the hustle and bustle. Food is awesome and creative. I like this place best on a Sunday afternoon in the winter, when its a low key crowd. Game nights can be full and rowdy, and it can be difficult to get in on a Friday or Saturday. On more than one busy occasion, weve found the bartenders to ignore all but their regulars. One star off for that. Can be a bit off-putting and frustrating in those conditions. When fewer people are there, theyre great. One bartender suggested a Bloody Mary with bourbon instead of vodka. Amazing!! The same folks run the nearby Downtown Social, which is a much bigger space, with similarly good food.
One of a kind wings, and incredible wood fired pizzas. Delicious burgers and sandwiches. Beautiful and friendly waitstaff. Outdoor seating in warm weather. One caution, great food apparently takes time to prepare. Service can be slow at times, be sure to give yourself time before the show or game.
Tried something new...artichoke dip with fried pita chips. Yummy but definitely not for those on a restricted sodium diet. One of the few places that will cook an eight ounce burger to order and that actually gives you what you ask for! Seasoned French fries are wonderfully edible, an item I usually abstain from! Crispy chicken wings come with creative dips. Beer choices are extensive and good. The only negative thing I can say is that the music is a little loud for conversation. Five stars for the food and a 6+ for the service.
The service at this establishment was excellent. Our server was incredibly pleasant and helpful with answering questions about the menu.I ordered a standard margherita pizza which was delicious. The wings we got to share were also awesome. They come plain (some seasoning) and you get sauce on the side to dip it in.I loved the Asian chili, which isnt spicy at all. The Carolina BBQ was a little too much on the mustard side for me personally. The wasabi aoili was and the Caribbean jerk were a hit with the spicy lovers. Habanero lime was more sour than spicy according to them.Overall, good food and great service!
Amazing service! Liz was fantastic. We had two big dogs and she brought them water. Even though we were the only ones outside she never forgot about us. Great food (highly recommend the spinach and artichoke dip) I hope to go back at least one more time before we head home. They use Untappd for the revolving beer and they keep it updated! Great place for food and drinks.
We have been to Downtown City Tavern 5 or 6 times now and we have it on our must go to list whenever we visit the area. We have found their food to be very fresh, their waitstaff to be very friendly, quick and helpful even when they have a full house which seems to be often. The chicken tenders and wings along with the pizza are some of our favorites.
Always enjoyed this place but last 2 trips were awful. First one got our order wrong twice. This most recent trip the pretzels were black with 0 salt on them. The buffalo chicken dip we got to was put in aluminium foil. Who puts dip to go in aluminium foil? Dont think Ill be back again. Sorry to say
What a wait for food! The waitress assured she was waiting on the bartender to get the beer we were waiting on. .. not sure of the hold up, a can from the bartender. We had our full order to the waitress before 6 PM trying to make it to the civic center by 7 .6:41 our food is delivered to 2 of the 3 of us. Nothing fancy: flat bread, Mac and cheese and a gyro. One plate food is with fries instead of Germaine potato salad. 3rd plate comes out with no fries. Unbelievable, after the wait. The waitress apologized and explains the kitchen was behind. We ended up taking all our food in boxes so not to miss our show. $74 bill. Our first & last time.
First time eating here. Take out. Super fast. I usually dont review until Ive had a few more experiences but...Loaded fries/ ungodly amount of fries for the price and toppings.... Perfect fries. Not soggy. Just right.Tavern burger, asked for medium...got medium. It was like a sweet Worcester sauce. Excellent. Carmelized onions a tad undercooked but cant argue with the burger. Excellent. Side of german salad. Excellent.Advice? A lightly toasted bun wouldve set off the burger.... Otherwise. Excellent experience. 23$ well spent. looking forward to trying pizza next time.
Service was slow. good selection on menu but my slipper bread was burnt . and my chicken figures taste of old oil. there were cooked so long that it couldnt event but into a few pieces. and the fries where under cook which is funny they had both extreme. I gave the waitress back my food who seem to thank it was normal that someone dosent Eat any of there food and dosent want to take it home... but my other half cleared his buger just fine.
I thought the atmosphere was very inviting and fun, the decor was customized, which I love because it shows the owners care. I met the owner and he is very nice and takes pride in his business. Although I did not get the pizza, the #woodfired pizza oven I know makes great Pizza. Will be stopping there to eat again for sure.
Very nice bar and restaurant. I was only there for drinks with friends so I cant speak to the food. The atmosphere was a bit quiet and we could talk with each other pretty easily. The bar tender was nice, quick, and helpful. Opening and closing our tabs was easy.Highly recommended.
I would give this place more stars but the waitress wasnt as attentive as she should have been. On many occasions she breezed by our table without so much as a word. Im not much into Waitresses or anyone guessing my orders but I figured she would be good if she did not need a pen and paper. The waitress who will remain nameless got our orders wrong and eventhough we repeated everything several times, she didnt care to write it down. If the place would have been bursting at the seams maybe I would have understood the confusion but it was about 60% capacity, if not less when we arived. Even when another waitress came to help, the sauces and drinks were wrong. The wings were ok but two sauces were good. One was the Buffalo which was about average but the blue cheese balsamic was great. The other sauces which the names escape me were not my cup of tea but Im sure someone out there may like them. All in all it was a decent experience and I appreciated that my bud took me there. Not a bad place. If the service was better and the wings had a little better or more seasoning, I might have given this place 4.5 stars.
Good menu options for people looking for all types of fare. Moderately priced and a good cocktail and beer list. The staff could be a little more attentive, but I am blaming that on the restaurant being busy the last time I went. The dining room is also pretty crowded. Overall a positive experience though.
I was a bit disappointed. It seems DTCT seems to want to be more than it is. The wait staff is dressed well and seems to care. The food was satisfactory but the choices dont seem to match a tavern. No real pub food, but we did find good craft beers on tap. We had the pizza which was fine. But during our meal the host decided it was too busy so he put up a sign on the front door that said please use side entrance which was fine but he then locked the door. Since this was the only other exit it was against fire code and made us feel a bit unsafe. On our exit we walked right by our waitress and she never said goodbye, in fact no one including the host said goodbye thank you for stopping by. Not sure if I would return here anytime soon. There are better places near by that are better choices.
Food was ok, server was nice she highly recommended the wings so I was expecting something fantastic, they were okay but nothing special. The only reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is because we received our food but they forgot our kids pizza. So, we had to wait for their food to come out and by that point our food was cold. They did comp the kids pizzas but it did put a real damper on the evening. Will we go back? Probably not, but thats only because we are only here for a week whenever we come up. I will say this. The food is better here than most other places we e been to in lake george area.
Went there with my boyfriend and his parents. We were all excited about the lobster mac and cheese so we each got one and a couple pizzas. Needless to say, the mac and cheese was more mac than cheese. I barely tasted any cheese and the pasta was so dry. I cant believe they charge $20 for that, so disappointing! The buffalo pizza was ok, but it was super spicy for my liking.
Delicious and unique food, plenty of tasty drink options, a comfortable atmosphere, and great staff - all conspire to be certain that you enjoy yourself thoroughly. Whether having a quick solo lunch or a grand repast with many friends for an evening - you will leave happy and debating what you might try on your next visit....
Ordered a burger with no bun, I am on the paleo diet so I do not eat breads. When I got my food, the burger was on a bun , the cheese was melted off the burger and the burger itself was very dry. I usually order the grilled chicken tenders but the last few times they have been extremely dry so I decided to try a cheese burger. Very unsatisfied.

2021-11-02Too much competition in the area to give this place a higher rating. The food was ok but the location is in the back of a parking lot and seating is cramped. The menu was filled with a nice variety of apps, pizzas and burgers. Not a fan of the way they do their wings they were overcooked. They have cauliflower crust pizza as well as red and white pizzas. One of the pizzas we ordered came with this massive bubble that made 2 slices just a bubble with no topping Which they tried to make up for by cutting it in the oddest way. Pricing is commensurate with the area.Experience is important. Heres why they got knocked down to 3 stars. We were 4 big people and they sat us at a small table for 4 even though they had a bigger table and availability. When I asked to be sat at a bigger table, I was refused. When our food came we didnt have enough room to fit it. This wasnt helped by having our apps and entrees served at the same time. Wait staff was overwhelmed. The obviously did not have enough staff to support a busy game day. Waitress kept joking about the wait which didnt help matters. The person who served us our food very unceremoniously just plopped everything on the tiny table. The host was not busy and rarely helped the staff. No one came to check on us or offer us a free drink to compensate for the exceedingly long wait. Apparently they do a healthy take out and delivery service, which theyre too small to support.

2022-02-21A gem in disguise. Great food. Beef Schwarma was excellent, fresh, flavorful. The wings were the best I have had in a long time. Hand crafted burger was fresh and cooked correctly. Wait staff was friendly and on point. For an early lunch, the place was packed. Highly recommended. Bring an appetite!!!

2020-09-12Overall good food with some opportunities to go from good to excellent. The wood fire soft pretzels were very good and well baked with 2 options odd sauces. The woods fire margarita needed more cheese and a bit better seasoned tomato sauce. Finally the tandoory chicken could use a bit of balance in the gyro to give it a heartier taste.

2022-03-21My server, Sarah, was an absolute angel! They were very busy when we went but she was super quick with drink orders and everything. Her personality is lovely and the food, as always, was amazing. I even saw her grab bar ice between serving her tables. Absolute rockstar!

2020-11-29The food was hot, richly flavored, and well timed. My boozy milkshake was yummy, French onion soup was delightful, my burger was tasty, and the fries were hot crispy and delicious! The server was friendly, fast, and hospitable. I will be back.

2022-04-14Most meals from Downtown City Tavern have been excellent. However, the last meal I had was a complete salt bomb. The mushrooms on my burger were so salty it almost made it inedible. Sorry guys, but hold the salt.

2020-09-05Very healthy choices for whatever youre getting! The pizza was better than anything Ive had before and the fries were so original with spices and olive oil! Very very pet friendly with a few vegan options and a couple things that could be made vegan. They have indoor and outdoor seating with a great street view. I would highly recommend checking it out while in Queensbury.

2022-04-01I was told it was too busy for take out orders. Some of us don’t have the ability to dine in. I’ll wait an hour or two to pick up if you’re that busy! Why turn down my business all together! My wife and I order take out here every Friday. The food is good, but I’m sure I’ll find somewhere else for Friday nights.
