I had the red velvet latte and it was quite disappointing. It really wasnt good for me. I felt unwell for hours after having because of the flavour. The decor was really nice. I think if I ordered something more traditional, it would have been a really lovely visit. In addition, the good organic store should promote reusable cups more, I brought mine in but the staff didnt know what I wanted even though I explained.
I was quite surprised with a quality of food at this place. A lot of healthy options, there is no doubt. And, lets be honest, its very hard to find a clean and afordable place to eat organic food nowadays. They have vegan options as well, so keep that in mind! I have tried cashew milk for the first time.I have to come back asap and grab something else from Dr Smoods cuisine.P.S. Very neat place. Good customer service, thumbs up for that!
I have been frequenting the Broadway and LES locations before they closed since Ive returned to work last Summer 2020. Since the end of last year I have returned to the Lexington Ave cafe, which was my mainstay when I worked on the East Side. I come for my breakfast and lunch needs. Food is always wholesome, fresh and never disappoints. Andriana here at the Lexington cafe is always so friendly, helpful and engaging with her customers. Ill continue to support the business at its Soho location on weekends when I am in the city. Ill miss coming to the cafe now that Ill be working closer to home. Good luck and hope the location continues to thrive.
Used to love this place and look forward to getting the avo toast .. unfortunately it has been falling apart. the staff is dismissive and is texting half the time or huffing and puffing. i ordered the avo toast to go and this is what i got.it’s sad because healthy food is worth the price but places like this are a waste of money and giving healthy places a bad name.
I eat lunch here literally everyday and love it for their natural food and amazing ambience. The staff is very friendly too. It is a little pricey but you pay for really high quality food that tastes great too. I took one star out cause they always only have one out of six soups!! Butternut squash every damn day for lunch what is up with that.
This place is a great find in Midtown. They offer ample seating if you’re looking to get some work done, catch up with a friend or enjoy some reading. I’ve had a number of their items and have always been happy with my selections. The best coconut water I’ve ever had is sold here. However, I’m not a big fan of their matcha latte. Staff is always friendly and helpful.
The best and worst part of my day start here. I work right next door and get breakfast here every day, the food is AMAZING.The big downside is literally waiting over 5 min to pay for a juice and a yogurt Ive taken out of the cooler. Staff is always busy making someones food or drink to ring others up. Need a dedicated person on the register or a self checkout option to speed this process up.
My wife and I are here in New York City celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. As we walked the Lexington Street we noticed this organic café and decided to give it a try. Amazing food and a friendly atmosphere. I really enjoyed speaking with manager G Moore. Such a knowledgeable young man. I highly recommend Dr Smood not only if you’re health conscious but just overall good food!
I hope this place goes out of business tomorrow. Pricing even more outrageous than normal third wave coffee places, they dont have regular milk, and they dont even have SUGAR!! My eyes just popped out of my head. Nice staff but come on. Clearly this place is not interested in the patronage of the 95 percent of people who like either milk or sugar (or, God forbid, both) in their coffee. Good luck.
OK.... So the whole point apparently is food to put u in a good mood or something.... Hmmmm. Service was terrible, not even a smile. We were ignored completely, then finally served with little more than a grunt. What a cheek to expect 18% service charge at the till when we had no service! Then they forgot to bring half our order and after finally asking about it, there wasnt even an apology or explanation. Eventually 2 teeny bits of avocado toast arrived. I would Not recommend this awful place, worst service, super expensive prices and average food.
Delicious, beautiful food (they ask to take photos and submit on yelp) and beautiful space, efficient staff. Uncrowded even at morning rush. You’ll pay for it though - $3.50 for a small plain coffee, $6.50 for small thing of perfect oatmeal.Worth it if you have expense account.
This place is a late night parody of what would happen if the crunchy extreme political left ran the world. A menu consisting only of organic quinoa and avocado toast. I got an ice coffee and an oatmeal. price tag: $13.77. And they have no milk because they are dairy free -- so I had to get almond milk. Then they asked for a tip. I may be getting punked. Maybe this place isnt real and Im on Candid Camera.
Its worth the price tag. Yes everything is expensive here but the quality is very high. Youre also paying for a sit-down experience unlike any other in New York- you feel like youre in a fancy hotel lobby yet quieter and serene. I come here once a week to get work done. My only complaint is that they close early 8p on weekdays, 7p weekends
I was super excited about a fresh option close to work. I ordered my salad and patiently waited, but when it got here and I opened it up I noticed there was a soggy bit in the center before I even got to put the dressing and cashews on top of it. I inspected it and it looked like some bits had gone bad and it was just not edible after finally trying it. The Tamari cashews were yummy, but that’s about all the fresh I got with this meal because I had to toss it out. FYI Postmates refunded my delivery fee which was $5 but it cost me $15 total so for about $11 I would pass on Dr. Smood for now. Perhaps in the future it will be better.
I was initially turned off I think because of the name. I thought it was going to a typical chain. However, going I was pleasantly surprised. There are tons of smoothies, juices, and sandwiches that are tasty. Each item is labeled with the health benefit (I.e detox, beauty, etc) Nothing there will blow you away but it’s good. I did work at this location. There are only a few chairs with backs - so you have to be patient to not sit on a stool but it’s not too loud and the WiFi works.
I love the concept + food and drink offerings, but please have extra salad dressing cups on hand. I shouldnt pay $11 for a small salad and have to eat 2/3 of it without dressing because the dressing cup is so small and theres no side dressing available. Just a bad experience that would be extremely easy to solve. Also, empower your employees to make customers happy!
I tried calling several times over the course of at least 15 minutes and was never able to get anyone on the phone. Ive seen this happen quite a bit with their locations in Miami as well. For some reason they are severely lacking in regards to phone service and it seems like a systematic issues with most of their locations. Tried several other locations that are listed as open on Google Maps, and couldnt reach a single one of them.
Walked in 2 minutes before 9 am on a Saturday to check out the menu only to be quite rudely told they weren’t open and was stared down until I left. A real friendly bunch, but maybe that’s their style and I didn’t get it. Maybe they should change their name to Dr. Snooty? Either way, won’t bother with that place again.
Seems like good food, but very pricey, almost equivalent to a restaurant. Customer service is disappointing, one very nice man, other was slightly rude, spent 90 dollars and they told us after we ordered that they were closing in 30 min and we had to leave, that is wrong.
A really nicely decorated shop that invites you to linger. Great and healthy products in good selection and quality, which are sometimes very overpriced. Friendliness was not on the agenda that day either. Another negative point: It is generally not possible to pay in cash, only by credit card. The reasons are simplicity and environmental protection. But then everything is sold in one-way cups (to-go), even if you stay in the shop. Funny.
Im sorry but I felt robbed after being here. Incredibly expensive and we were just as hungry after eating over $ 70 (5 people). So we had to eat with the neighbor after the visit here ... If you are concerned about little food, little calorie intake and that it should be expensive - then this is the place for you. If not - steer away !!

2022-04-19I had a kale salad with spinach and cherry tomatoes in it. I had a cashew salad dressing but it was salty. The salad was good. I also had walnut meatballs, I didnt like it and didnt eat it. I had a once in a great while coffee, Annericano, it was good.

2022-06-18Dr Smood is back open on Saturdays! Best coffee with fresh housemade almond mylk. Calvin & Biggs are the best — if only there was a 6th star. I’ve visited many times, but the coffee and vegan sandwich on Saturdays are just different! Thanks guys!!

2022-07-27You’re paying for the ambiance. Beautiful space and interior. However I paid $29 for the kale caesar salad with vegan meatballs and a matcha latte. Came with 3 meatballs, which I’m not sure if they were cooked maybe they were raw. The rest was mostly a container full of plain shredded kale and spinach just like what you can buy in the grocery for $3. Also a very tiny but tasty dressing and croutons on the side. The “confit tomatoes “ was just 2-3 normal raw cherry tomatoes sliced in half, and a couple of capers. Matcha was good. But overall very overpriced for the quality you get.

2021-12-21Save your money and tastebuds. I got the tumeric chicken salad sandwich and it cost $14.70 with tax. The sandwich was barely a sandwich but stiff bread with a bit of chicken in the middle. The whole thing was bland and barely had flavor. Not to mention staff wasnt nice at all. It was a waste of money and you’ll still be hungry after. Try somewhere else nearby to get your money’s worth.

2022-07-19Paid $23 dollars for a tiny little piece of Avocado on toast smaller than the palm of my hand and a Superfood Oatmeal that was just 10 millimetres deep (less than half an inch deep) in the already small bow,l with four slices of banana.A made a complaint to the manager who just shrugged her shoulders and said there was nothing she could do about it. So I asked for the return of my $3 tip and was just laughed at. I came in this place to get some breakfast as I was hungry but ended up leaving hungry and having to go to a deli nearby where I got another bowl of oatmeal 4 times the size and covered with berries for just $5.99.Never Again !!

2019-12-18Organic dairy free & clean. Spacious, could be a bit friendlier. But nice concept. Will come back to try different menu items. Butternut squash soup is excellent!

2020-03-05I love to go to Dr Smood in Soho since i love their food and ambience but this one in Midtown is very different. They don’t have the same menu, also the tuna sandwich i usually get tasted different, avocado was runny.

2018-04-07Great options for healthy snack food and the coffee is solid. Other reviews have said its expensive but I’d argue it’s fairly priced for a location in central midtown. My complaints are small: for the price I’d expect a proper cup when drinking in (it’s paper takeaway cups only), and theres no serve yourself water. So if you dont ask for a cup of water when ordering you have to requeue to get one which is slightly annoying if its busy.
