Came in with a friend to try a couple craft pints last weekend.Venue itself is nice - it’s warming and inviting when you walk inside, with a bar that you want to sit at.Barmaid we spoke with (Irish lady) was super friendly and informative and provided some recommendations of places to visit in Brooklyn.Beers we had were all pretty decent, only negative was that there were 4 beers (all first choice) that were off and didn’t have replacements due to the manager not being around so meant we only stayed for 2 instead of longer. Would defo come back and food looked very good from what we saw.
Really loved how the menu came with suggested beer pairings. Was admittedly a little underwhelmed by this Chicken Pot Pie, which was really just a few strings of chicken and a little puff pastry over mashed potatoes. But the burger/fries my friend got tasted delicious!
It was an alright experience for me & my friend. We ordered this cocktail. I feel like the bartender was a newbie & didnt know how to make the cocktail well. I dont blame her because while she was making us the drink Ive noticed two of the other employees were observing her if she made it correctly or not but they didnt say anything to the bartender. I felt something went wrong with the drink while noticing them. My gut feeling was right & the drink was mediocre. Paid $14 each for that drink. I feel like those two employees shouldve said something to the bartender because newbies make mistake & Im the type of person who support new people at work but if you are observing & know they messed up just show them so next time they make it right.
1st time here, catching up with an old co-worker whose a midtown east resident. First off erase all your assumptions about midtown east bars, american gastropubs, and Irish restaurants from your mind. Not only does this place serve an imoressive beer selection but every menu item ordered was in point and delectable. Staff attentive, prices exceptionally reasonable and good crowd. Average decor and def pub but as I endorse their scotch eggs on behalf of Britain - which is saying something for any restaurant in America
Spacious bar. Perfect for date night(meeting for the 1st time from a dating app),corporate happy hour and if you work nearby a close place to hang out and a grab beer before heading to the train station to go home. Can’t say its a total local spot but the beers, cocktails and food are great. Bartenders and staff are friendly. Because there are so many random homies can’t find the cohesion of what this bar really means to the area. Can’t say, “its that local spot I go to”. It’s bar that attracts local office people who are trying to find that convenient bar to go to in the area.
Great food and experience. However, I felt rushed out the door. We were visiting and enjoying the small bar. The check was brought over and we decided to order another drink. Instead of a new tab being opened they added to the bill and took the drink menu. However 4 stars because place looked amazing.
Didnt love this place. We got there and it was semi empty. I ordered something off their cocktail menu and the bartender seemed confused 😕. I know this is more of a beer spot but come on they have specialty cocktails - those should be good.. theyre not. We wanted to go the the back and the bartender said it was closed. Which was probably a lie cause we heard ppl in the back. I wouldnt go back here theres too many options in NYC to settle lol
Great food, and way more than I could ever eat. My server Kelsey was attentive and helpful.Beer selection was solid. Was there during happy hour on a Thursday and it was SUPER loud. I was happy that I was there alone because conversation would have been impossible, but thats what happy hours are for. Everyone was enjoying themselves.Would definitely visit again.
One of the best beer menus in New York. Really great bar food as well. Service is wonderful and attentive even when the place is packed. The chicken pot pie wasnt great, more of a soup based on that dish, but the chicken sliders were amazing as were the nachos. Star of the night was the cheese plate.
Great atmosphere. Good beer selection. Service was just ok. Food questionable, other reviews rated the food good it must have been what we ordered which was the meatloaf which was mostly just bread filler with very little meat. The other item was there German sausage sandwich with about half of a sausage. Think their burgers would be a better choice.
Really nice bar and grill in a great location. My parents and I always go with the nachos. They really are fantastic. I also usually get a burger cooked medium. They use really good meat. The drinks are also fantastic and at a reasonable price. I always go here when I visit the city.
Great list of draft beers. Lots of amazing choices. The food here was pretty good as well though the service was definitely lacking. If I ever want back I would probably just sit at the bar. Our waitress was more interesting in folding napkins then just about anything else going on in the place.
Its.... OK.Overall, the staff is pretty pleasant. The hostesses were especially welcoming and delightful. The bartenders in the way back are kinda stuck up/nerdy/snobby. The food is decent. To me... this is the restaurant/bar equivalent to ... waiting for a movie to come out on demand rather then going to the theater. Just that same feeling.
Great venue for happy hour, an entire back room w/ bar for work functions and dope music. The crowd is definitely young professional and super divers. I love that they had the basketball game on even though it was not a sports bar. Service was outstanding and makes you feel right at home.
The most elegant version of a tavern I have yet to be in. This place has a great energy for a pretty laid back scene. They also have an excitingly diverse and unique beer selection that would excite nearly any beer enthusiast. A great place to plot down and chill all night.
Very vibrant and hip bar. They have a back area which some people dont know about so it appears pretty small and cramped from the outside. Food is decent though I would stay away from the mozzarella sticks. They have a weird after taste. If you are looking for a decent drink, I would recommend the Winter Harpoon, a relatively smooth beer thats available on tap.
Great place to find interesting beer. There is an amazing selection of draghts and bottled beers. I love that I can get a cold bottle of Chimay blue and other Belgian strong ales.My only complaint is that the table staff ruins the bar side of things. I often go right after work, and have to fight for space at the bar while the table service side of the place is completely empty. Sometimes I dont want to deal with getting a table, getting menus, starting a tab, etc. We just want a place to sit and drink our beer from the bar.
Nice place, even when its busy. Looks clean, which is big. Went on a Friday night. Nachos are great. Pastrami spring rolls are delicious but a very small portion. It was loud because it was busy at the bar but my company and I got a table to eat and it wasnt so bad there. Id go back!
My wife and I went to this great establishment to meet a couple of friends of mine. We entered and met Paul G. security at the door who was a great guy and we had great cocktails from Scott at the bar .I watched Auburn beat Oregon and that was a great win as well. This place was perfect and we really enjoyed it .
The staff here is really outstanding. Too many bars and restaurants in this city have a pretentious staff even if its a bad restaurant. The burgers here are delicious. They have a great beer selection. Also it should be known if you like bourbon or scotch, they also have a good selection and probably the lowest prices Ive seen in mid town if not Manhattan.
Service wasnt the best, waitress was hard to find and she refused to split the bill. I got the guineas burger. It was pretty good, but undercooked and nothing special. Speakers were way too loud though, so I missed about 50% of what everyone said. The spirits menu said to ask your server if you dont see a brand on the list; I asked and told what if its not on the list, they dont have it.
I booked Draught 55 for a corporate happy hour and the staff went above and beyond to make sure that were having fun and well taken care of. I cannot express how grateful I am to Mary for helping me out of a jam. The Cellar Bar and the Atrium are hidden little gems that can fit a good amount of people, but even when packed the service is still fast. The food menu actually comes with suggestions on what beer to pair with your food, which for people like me is a big help. Dont forget to try the whiskey flights too!
From the perspective of a non-bar person, I actually really liked this place. Now granted, I attended a party in which the entire back room was reserved for only us (and I am not sure how much it cost/what the conditions were). Likewise, I did not eat any of the food, so I cannot speak to it. Nonetheless, the back room was gigantic, came with two bartenders and finger foods (typical bar fare, wings, cheese sticks, onion rings, etc.). So, if youre looking for good drinks, good service, and a private spot, I would definitely recommend Draught 55!
Went there on a Friday with a couple of friends. It wasnt as packed as I expected for 6 oclock. The staff were friendly and the service was good.Try the sampler they have for beer ($10 for 4 different 5 oz beers). We tried the wings and also the fries and liked everything. Well be back!
As a food writer who once had to eat at dozens of restaurants in several countries, I cant find a reason why this place seems to be avoiding vegetarian fare. I dined twice and liked the first mid-week happy hour wings and hard cider. The $12 is reasonably priced considering the addition of a craft, but the options are uninspired and unforgettably sub-par. Cold fries, under developed flavors in a waxy flour tortilla topped with watery condiments arent exactly great pub fare. Service is efficient and friendly enough, but management sorely lacks the skills to take on customer feedback. Being unfriendly and borderline unkind = bad management. Ive been to Ireland and lived in London and never had such behavior. Eliminating meat from an already plain sandwich is not vegetarian fare per se. Its just a cheese with lettuce and tomato sandwich; a vegetarian option would at least offer a cheap inclusion. Eggplant, mushrooms, sweet potato or an easy roasted veggie medley is easy to include. Either way, a visit to #Draught55 will prove either satisfactory or regrettably forgettable.
Pros:Great selection of craft beers on tap.Nice food.Lots of space and a nice laid back atmosphere. A great spot to chill with some friends.$10 for 4 tasting flights. Great way to try new beers!Happy hour on Saturday from 6-8 PM.Cons:Food is expensive, and beers are just average-priced.Weekday happy hour is underwhelming, only 5 beers are special-priced.
Some friends of mine and my boyfriends rented the backroom of this place out for NYE and it was an absolute blast! The room was gorgeous, the staff was attentive, and it was an all around good time. The drinks werent too expensive, either. Highly, highly recommend this place.
I echo the reviews that cite this establishment as a solid pub. It absolutely is. Big, long bar and decent, if not a little cramped, table space. Excellent service. Great happy hour special which includes $5 beers. Food is OK, but the charcuterie board had no cheese which is strange.
Really not sure why anyone likes this place. Food was really mediocre. Cold fries. Cold burgers. No way theyre using fresh beef. Everything was sweet. Sweet mayo, sweet nachos, sweet fake scotch eggs. Beer I had was disappointing. The place is super loud. Really a lot of better options out there
We found Draught 55 on Yelp and absolutely loved it. We had a table for 6, the hostess told us they had a table reserved for a group in two hours and we could be seated immediately as long as we knew to be out by then. We had no problem with that and appreciated being sat quickly (2 hours was more than enough to eat and drink for us).The whole atmosphere was great, I absolutely loved the lighting and furniture throughout the restaurant. Im not an interior decorator so Im unable to provide much more information here!If youre looking for a great bar in New York with a solid burger, I highly recommend Draught 55. I had a bacon cheddar burger and a flight of belgian wheat beers. Four out of the six of us ordered flights and everyone enjoyed the beer we were served. The food came out quick and every single person in our group had nothing but great things to say (my buddy actually used the place for a date night 1 week later). If Im visiting NY again Ill make sure to stop here for a second try!
Around 50 draft beers with interesting food menu, and nice lighting and decor. It would be 5 stars based on that. Unfortunately, the place is extremely noisy, like entering a sea of loud voices. I guess that effect may be due to the very low ceiling. If they could use some material to reduce noise the experience would be much more pleasant.
I came here with a friend of mine around 7:30 on a Thursday. It was surprisingly packed with way too well dressed people. We both ordered a flight of beers, the selection of craft beers was solid. We split a tasty pretzel and enjoyed our beers, though I would have definitely preferred if it was not quite so loud.Id happily go again if I was in the neighborhood.
I visited as a solo traveller whilst in New York on business, and as a beer lover, always make a point of trying as many of the local beers as possible. The bar has over 40 predominantly East Coast American beers on draft, and many more in bottle. Several of the beers are $5 each during the happy hour between 4 and 8pm, which is truly exceptional value, especially considering its location. Unfortunately as I was alone sitting at the bar, the place was very noisy and people were constantly pushing through trying to get served, which was somewhat annoying whilst I was trying to eat my dinner but I wouldnt hold that against the place. On the subject of food, I had a very tasty chicken club sandwich which, together with two pints of beer, came to just over $20 - a bargain!
Excellent selection of beers at reasonable prices. The crowd is a little bro-tastic for my taste but there is a back area that would be superb for a private party. The staff is friendly and there are tvs at the bar if you want to catch the game or if you want more of a dining experience there are tables in a slightly elevated section parallel from the bar. The only reason I dont give it 5 stars is because the crowds I have seen there have been a bit overwhelming.
My go to spot.. Food is delicious.. Many many many different beers and drinks to choose from. Very nice staff. My secret little spot for good food, and great drinks. Great happy hour options and prices.. You should def check this place out.. They also have TVs for watching all the games.
Really cool spot, close enough to Times Square, yet kinda tucked away on a side street. Almost like if you werent specifically going there you may not even notice it. The food was unbelievably good, service was excellent. And we were there at primetime 7:30-8 on Saturday night. Very good vibe, excellent choice of draft beers. Only complaint was it was a little noisy. Its not a big place with low ceilings and lots of people. Prepare to talk loud. Lol. But other than that, I would highly reccomend checking out Draught 55.
As someone who likes fried things, eggs, mustard and beer, their Scotch egg (with Sixpoint IPA mustard sauce) is a freaking religious experience.Place also has a good selection of beers on tap as well as canned and bottles. Nice atmosphere, kind staff and live acoustic guitar (at least during my visit).
We reserved an area in the back room for a party and from start to finish it was a great experience. The management team were super helpful, could not do enough for us and the staff were friendly and really professional. The bar itself which has just undergone refurbishment is awesome - relaxed, fun and with a really good vibe. Would highly recommend.
Draught 55 is a really charming, deceptively large, trendy but subtle bar near Turtle bay and the UES. Definitely one of the best bars in the neighborhood. Draught 55 has a wonderful food menu (beyond any typical bar food fare), and a really exceptional menu of seasonal craft brews. Its honestly a must-visit for beer lovers with some of the seasonal varieties they rotate in. They also have really nice service and a particularly generous lunch menu (a meal and a beer for $10).Theres a hard-to-spot outdoor back area thats ideal for parties and large groups. The music is never too loud, its easy(ish) to sit down, and the playlist is very indie-rock oriented and pleasant. The lack of bro-crowd is also endlessly appreciated.
Terrific bar with a great beer list and reasonable prices in a neighborhood where that’s hard to find. We were there on a Saturday evening, and the atmosphere was surprisingly chill, even when a party of 20 people showed up after us— credit to the bartender, Shaun, who was super-efficient and kept up with everyone like a CHAMP!
This place is awesome! Came today for a chill Valentines Day and it was perfect. Delicious food and extremely pleasant staff. The wings were ridiculously crispy, and definitely get the steak boulangere appetizer! They even had a guy playing live acoustic music--nice mix of genres and he took requests! They had a huge beer selection and since it wasnt busy, the waitress was really nice in taking her time explaining the different types to us. I loooved the decor--kind of rustic and relaxing, with nice lighting. The atrium out back (glass ceiling, greenhouse type area with a separate bar) was open, but everything was off (ceiling lights and fireplace). Im assuming this was because it wasnt busy enough to open. I hope theyre open next time and that they put the comfy looking chairs I saw in pictures back in front of the fireplace! This would be an excellent place for a small or medium size party...The manager was extremely nice and when I asked to check out the downstairs--she said it wasnt ready now because they use it for private parties, but she offered to tidy it up so I could look at it. I declined, but it was really sweet that she offered! Also, apparently they do a rotating craft beer $5 happy hour from 4 to 8 on weeknights. I will definitely be coming back here!
2 stars only for the food. Everytime I go the food comes out wrong, every single time. The service is always horrible. Id understand if it was busy, but it was so slow. The hostess greets you with a look of misery too!If the food wasnt so good, I would never return. But for now Ill hope for proper staff training Im hospitality.
Ive been coming to Draught 55 for the past 2 years and the food is consistently tasty and fresh! I am always delighted because you dont expect food to be on this high level when you think of bar food but at 55 they definitely take pride in their menu. Also if youre a fan of beer theyve certainly got you covered with so many names on tap. Highly recommend you give it a try.
The one thing fact that no one can take away from Draught 55 is that they have an amazing beer selection on draught. There happy hour deal is quite good as well with $5 draught beer, well drinks and house wine. The decor is comfortable and they have a nice little backroom if you have a bigger party.Food has been outstanding and consistently so.Come early after work or be prepared for a huge crowd, especially on Fridays.
Pretty unimpressed with this place.I read the pumpkin ravioli description and it sounded great, but did not have a (V) indicating that it was vegetarian, although the items listed in the description all were. I asked our server and she said it had milk... Shouldnt a server in NYC know the difference between vegan & vegetarian? She insisted it was vegetarian, but I figured maybe something was cooked in chicken broth or something and she just didnt know.Got the veggie burger instead and it was weird. Certainly not filling. Fries with good and it came with this side of asian-y peanuts which were great.Didnt realize it was a 7 days a week happy hour like Heather S. mentioned because our server did not mention that, and we paid $10-14 on our wines! And even the house wine was $8.My friends werent a fan of their items either- meat board & french onion soup. Sweet pot fries were amazing though.Overpriced, and underwhelming.
A co worker and I went there for lunch today and we both ordered the soft shell crab sandwich. It was not what we expected as the shell was like plastic. At 18 Dollars with a side of French fries it was a big let down. The proprietor Mary asked me if everything else was ok after I brought it to her attention. Yes I said the French fries were fine. Take it off the menu or get it right. I should have asked her to take a bite.
A beautiful space with friendly service and some simple, delicious food. They were very accommodating and flexible when it became clear that the large group I had made a reservation for would rather do appetizers at the bar rather than be seated at the table. Thanks again!
Fantastic beer selection and a cool atmosphere. Good food, with one caveat - not sure if this place was the cause or not, but a friend and I got fairly sick the morning after eating here. Have a feeling it was unrelated, but was curious if anyone else had that happen. Happened the night of the Super Bowl.
My Go To local craft beer bar when Im in NYC. Draught 55 has a wide selection of all different types of local and rare craft beers from all over the USA and world. 42 local and international craft beers on tap that will never disappoint the craft beer enthusiast. Great, friendly, knowledgeable staff that will never steer you wrong.
The beer selection was good and it was cold. The food was poorly executed though, very poorly. They had the right idea and tried, but it was as if a home cook was trying to put the dishes together as they made basic mistakes. My crispy duck with cherry gastrique had a thick layer of unrendered fat, it was not even scored. If it was crispy when they removed it from the heat I would not know...they smothered it in a cherry sauce instead or maybe lining the plate or at the least placing the duck crispy side up on top of the sauce. Maybe that level of execution is okay for some people. Personally I would be embarassed to serve that to visitors in my home. The beer selection was good. If you stick to the beer and avoid the food you will not be disappointed. Eat somewhere else and go by for after dinner drinks.
Awful place. Came for afterwork drinks and everything was bad: we were charged normal prices for happy hour drinks, but worst of all was the bearded British barman awful at his job. Got the drinks wrong then blamed us for it. Another midtown hellhole for entitled types

2022-04-16Great place for drinks and food! We had a large group and the seating inside was very accommodating. Highly recommend the cheddar biscuit sliders. The sauce was so savory and the biscuit buns were nice and fluffy. The mozzarella sticks were also delicious. Perfect stretchy cheese pull and crispy outside. All the apps we had here are great so can’t go wrong!

2022-03-01A few months ago when my husband and I began brainstorming about our wedding - we determined that our priorities for the day were: good live music, a space large enough to fit our extended friends and family, and most importantly -- good food and good drinks. Draught55 was recommended to us by a friend who had recently attended a birthday party in the Atrium. We connected with Eva, Pierce, and Kevin who were incredibly kind, generous, and flexible with every detail. They ordered wine from specific regions which we were excited about offering our guests, they helped guide us through our food order to ensure we had the right portions, and they were always available for impromptu phone calls to ensure everything was moving in the right direction. The existing structure and general décor of Draught55 is already striking, so the additional arrangements from the florist only enhanced the existing romance. Draught55 also allowed us to rent the entire bar for the event, which made a world of a difference -- especially in a COVID world. Each member of the staff that night made us -- and all of our guests -- feel like VIPs. My husband and I have received messages from our friends such as: that was the BEST food. Im still dreaming about the mini nachos. ... the bar backs were incredible. I saw one of the guests spill his beer and someone was basically mopping it up as the drink hit the floor ... as a guest, my husband and I can honestly say that that was the best wedding weve ever attended. We truly feel like we hit the jackpot with Draught55 as our wedding venue, but we also cant wait to come back for regular cocktails, food, and see our new friends again. Thank you again to everyone at Draught55! Well see you again soon. :-)

2022-01-23What an amazing location - truly one of the best pubs I’ve been to in the world! The food is excellent (would opt for sweet potato fries over garlic fries though), and the portion sizes generous. I visited here twice during my week long trip to NYC, all because the first time was so amazing. Their burgers are reasonably priced and cooked to perfection, and I also tried their chicken sandwich (also delicious, and a very large serving). In addition to the delicious food, the bar staff were kind and welcoming, and made our experience even more enjoyable! The house lager is also delicious. Without a doubt, this is a hidden gem in NYC!

2022-01-19Once you get inside the place really opens up. You would never guess how large it is from just walking in. There’s an indoor bar in the back which is greenhouse style with an outdoor feel. Really nice. They had all specialty beers, I’m a simple bud guy which they didn’t have.

2022-04-13Very popular place and I can understand why. Nice atmosphere decent beer. I wouldnt say theres anything special about it but there it is for you. I almost took one star off because it did get very very busy but some people like that kind of atmosphere.

2022-02-25Draught 55 was decent for my 1st experience there. Cool place for small groups to get together after work or for a coworkers farewell gathering (which is why I was there). Chicken fingers were crunchy, yet tender, hot right out of the kitchen and tasty... especially with dip. All the appetizers were fresh and displayed nicely. Hostess card you at the front door to make sure you are vaccinated- which is a good thing these days. Would I return? So far, for another occasion...yes! 🙂👍🏽✌🏽

2020-01-26It has all the components a good bar is expected to have: friendly staffs, a spacious hall with eclectic seating options that customers can choose on, great food menus and, of course, proper beers from tab.

2017-11-06Awesome choices of beers on tap and really strong food offerings. The bacon and blue burger is highly recommended. There’s plenty of seating both at the front and back and a separate bar area for standing. There’s also some solid options on the kids menu.

2022-01-22Decent spot, good atmosphere. Staff seemed instantly uninterested when our party of three only ordered drinks. We had plans to stay for several round and likely get food for two of us as the third had to leave, but decided to just pay and go.
