Incredible experience during covid. My stylist was very clean and thorough and my hair came out perfect. They do temperature checks when you walk in and I felt very safe getting my hair done! I did a dry style that I scheduled last minute. I highly recommend jen (I think), hate that I forgot her name :(, but overall had an amazing experience and would only come back for her. She was that good!
Terrible job! The woman at the front desk was kind. But my stylist was terrible, didnt do a good job and washing my hair I still felt residue of conditioner after my second wash. After my blowout my hair was still really frizzy and she added a lot of dry shampoo on my already dry hair for no reason which just looked big and bad. I asked if she could fix it and she didnt seem like she knew what to do so I just left to the front desk where I told the woman that my experience was terrible. She offered me about $10 off but I should have gotten a complete refund! Or someone to simply fix the mess my stylist made. As soon as I left I put my hair in a bun because it was so terrible. Dissatisfied and money wasted! I always go to dry bar, first time at this location and Im extremely unhappy!
I have been to this location several times throughout the last 4 years and the only things that are consistent are the bad customer service at the front desk and the rude stylists. The service offered in other Drybars in the city, for example Flatiron location, is far more superior. The stylists at other locations are much better at providing a long blowout. If you can refrain from going to this location, please do so. Its not worth your money or your time.
This was my first experience at any Drybar and I was not happy with the service I received. My stylist just seemed very inexperienced and didnt do anything I couldnt have done myself at home for free. I suppose everyone has to start somewhere, but for the price I would hope they would employ more experienced stylists. I get a better blow out at my local salon after a haircut. They did reach out to me and offer me a free scalp massage with my next purchase, but why they thought I would ever go back there to begin with is beyond me.
It was a traumatizing experience. Do not go to this place if you love your hair...I recently had my hair permed and have been very careful to preserve the curl. I repeatedly told him I would like my hair dried curl. After a very lousy hair wash, he started using a brush to pull my hair to dry it. I realized that was not right and asked him to pause and explained to him. He insisted my hair isn’t curly. I asked for a diffuser to be used - And it just seemed he didn’t know how to use it. He left my hair 80% dry and said it’s done...I had to ask for the dryer again. i came out with frizzy, messy hair, and a $51 charge. A colleague asked me what happened to my curl and my hair after the drybar visit. The whole day I only wanted to go home to fix my hair, which seems to be completely straightened now!Update: the company asked me for my phone number and said it would like to use my number to figure out who the stylist was and provide the stylist focused training. I request for a refund and it asked me to go back to the dry bar and get a free service....it obviously has no clue about basic customer service and how hurtful the experience was that I would try to avoid even walking near the place. Please do not go if you believe in fostering fair and quality service industry for your money to be spent.
Pretty straightforward, I asked for some volume and wave in my blowout. My hair is exceptionally easy to work with (holds curl easily, a little mouse does the job) but the stylist teased, pulled and twisted my hair during the drying process so much, I had knots for days - and it was still flat on top! The stylist also fried my hair (holding the nozzle against my hair way too long). I even had to pull my head away a few times because it was burning my scalp. Also one of their sinks had only boiling hot or cold water (they told me to “choose”). Two stars because the stylist and front desk person were friendly. Need to do a better trainings for the stylists though. Nightmare 45 mins and not much to show for it other than a sore scalp.
I wish I could give less then 1 star for this review. I had my hair done Old Fashioned style with finger waves for an event I was going to that evening. I have very fine hair and told the stylist that my hair did NOT require a lot of heat to get a curl. Needless to say I smelled nair/burnt hair the entire night ( keep in mind this was a work event so I cant even imagine what my clients thought of the smell ). I came home, washed my hair and tons of it had fallen out and even after 3 washes my hair still smells burnt. I will NEVER come back to Drybar. DONT COME HERE! Your hair will be ruined. :(
Dry Bars are really hit and miss. Sometimes you get an amazing stylist and you come out looking & feeling a million dollars. Sometimes... no such luck. My stylist today clearly wasnt very enthusiastic about her job. So only 3 hours after my styling my hair is going frizzy again, because she put in such little effort, forgot to use any product or heat protection etc. She was also quite rough and pulled my hair plenty. Most of the time she looked everywhere else but my hair.If this trend keeps going, I will stop using Dry Bar, Ive had too many disappointing experiences now.
Nice place if only the hairdresser wouldve been as good. The push to buy products was a bit much. Stylist was a bragger and not into my hair. Kept whining about some GREAT STYLIST she used to work for. I see why they are not together anymore. I do a better job on my own. I wouldnt pay $20 for the service.
I feel bad leaving a less than 5 star review. The staff was super friendly, and the appointment started on time. But I expect a bit more for $50, plus tip. I requested straight with a little volume, and its just a poofy mess. I had a blow out to save time, but now I have to go home and straighten it. Ive gotten what feels like a $50 blow out for $25-$30. Like I said the staff was so nice, but the overall quality and experience was underwhelming.
The salon aroma was inviting ...my stylist Nahiya was very professional and friendly. I felt very comfortable and relaxed while enjoying a fresh glass of champagne 🥂. I was overly satisfied with the services I received from Nahiya and all other staff members at this location. Nahiya nailed the hair style I was looking to have.... I will be returning for future appointments. Keep up the great work guys.... Thanks for making me Feel 🥰 beautiful !!!!!!
It was my first time ever at DryBar and I was blown away!!!! I am Dominican and we tend to be skeptical about doing our hair somewhere that isn’t a typical Dominican beauty salon. I walked into this location a few days ago as I was on my lunch break and was curious to get info, the lady at the front desk was very sweet and gave me a pamphlet, showed me the look book and offered me a list of stylist she believed would suit my curly hair type the best. She was not wrong! Today I booked a 4PM Appt with Myra and She was amazing! I am in love with my Manhattan style and will Deff be going back!!
I give Lucie 5-stars. Great flowing blow-out, just what I asked for and shes fast and she didnt fry out my hair like some stylists can do. I give the store itself 3-stars. The music is just too loud, you cant hear or talk to the receptionist. All round good experience with Lucie - Ill def go back to her!
I’m a Drybar fan and this place is close to my office. It’s a bit hit or miss in terms of how well the blowout comes out and how friendly/welcoming the staff is. Some people are great. A couple times it’s seemed a bit like by coming in I’ve ruined their day. (Okay work sucks sometimes but we all have to fake pleasantries now and again). But again, as I said some people are great so it all depends who’s working.
The customer service was great and everyone was so sweet! My only complaint would be that I went in for an event and wanted a blowout with a simple braid and it took 2 hours! I was sprinting out the door to make it to my event. I would definitely give them another try but not if it lasts 2 hours!
Awesome, clean and professionalalthough clients, are rude and impatient. I know that this is a service industry, but ladied get off your high horse!!! You are paying 45.00 for a blowout. In a any other son you would pay minimum 60$. I saw a lady that had so much hair it took the girl an hour or so to do it and the client gave her such a hard time, about how long its taking. And she was late WHAT!!!!?
Had an 8am appointment (was originally a 7:30 appointment at a different location they rescheduled on the fly at 6:45 because of an unavoidable problem) and showed up on time. When I got there, there were so many people waiting that there wasnt room to sit. I stood for 25 minutes, then told the front desk I needed to cancel my appointment so I wouldnt be late to work. In response they told me I would be charged a no show fee of $20, despite the fact that I was on time, had been standing there for almost half an hour, and had to leave for the same reason Id booked them in the first place, which was, you know, MY JOB. I called the national service number on my way to work and got the same response. It is our policy to charge $20 to people who dont get their services, and since you left you are considered a no show. So basically, this is a business whose customer base is professionals and whose business strategy is treating us as if our time has less than no value. Most of the blow-out franchises in NYC are a little shady, but this is undoubtedly the worst.
Came with my bridesmaids on Saturday night for my bachelorette party. They didn’t even bother to find out who the bride was as they booked us under a girls name that wasn’t even part of our group. As the BRIDE, they gave me the most inexperienced stylist that took an HOUR to blow out and over heat my hair. I could smell the burn in my hair afterwards. Luckily, one of my bridesmaids was able to fix the style that night. I had to use a deep conditioner after. Never again.
I had a very poor experience here. The stylist who did my hair told me she didn’t know how to use a curling iron. She proceeded to use a flat iron to attempt to curl my hair, which did not work. The waves turned out awful. My hair was fried to a crisp with the flat iron. I saw smoke coming out of the iron. It was way too hot for my fine hair. No heat protectant was put on my hair. Another stylist then came over to fix the dismal waves in my hair—this time, with a real curling iron—but the damage had already been done. No hairspray was used, and my hair fell flat after an hour. The stylists were also unprofessional and on the phone while doing my hair. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone.
I enter dry bar and I was let in by the attendant, as soon as she open my hair and asked me how to style it, the manager Andrew Coria came in and said we are just going to a curl on your hair and thats it. I was so confused at first and then he went on and on about how busy they are and how he has 5 years of experience as manager, giving me his card and saying complain wherever I want to when I asked him of who his manager was.Service Industry is changing -more bullies out there. Here I am at Starbucks writing this, still very confused. Hope this latte helps.Support local business, the bigger the company gets more useless they become, as success goes into their heads.I will get my hair done at a local Salon, they have been doing a good job for years. Cheers, caramel latte at starbucks is awesome. Phew...
I just left the DryBar extremely happy! Martha is amazing! She did what I asked and in perfect time! I feel great for my performance tonight!Martha es espectacular! Hizo tremendo trabajo y súper rápida! Me encanto! Me siento bella para mi show esta noche! Gracias Martha!P.s.: the only thing is prices are too high for a blow dry! But the service is exceptional and everyone was very helpful.
This is not a clean location. They continue to throw out all of their trash on the sidewalk and street in front of the store. They do not seem to care about their neighbors as is evident by how they treat the sidewalk and street outside the store. The smell of their trash is horrible and they are not being a good neighbor to other businesses or residential buildings in the area. They should try to clean up and wash the sidewalk as you cannot enter the store location without having to walk through all of the trash and the bad smell outside the store. As such, customers are walking in with all of the dirt and filth on their shoes into the location and store. Not a good situation for this type of business.
Not a great experience. The lady at the front desk was extremely slow and seemed to not understand how the checkout system worked. The hairstylists seemed to all hate each other as they were speaking badly about one another the entire blowout. Overall the entire experience felt extremely uncomfortable.
Agree with previous bad reviews. Greeter at the desk was rude when I walked in. Stylist was not skilled at her job and was apparently having a bad personal day. At best she was highly unprofessional, at worst she was very rude. Would not go back, very disappointing as this company used to pride itself on great customer service.
WORST SALON IN THE CITYA few days ago we booked online a place for today. Before going we called to confirm it, but for some reasons they didnt have the reservation - we then made another one by phone. When we arrived at the place, they didnt have the reservation (again!) and they didnt find any solution for us. They didnt even apologise, so rude!ABSOLUTELY TO AVOID.

2022-03-30Another great location in the city if you need your hair done. I was a Same day appointment and it was quick. Dani the receptionist was very polite and Irene did a awesome job on styling. I didnt have to say much and she got it on point. Will definitely return.

2022-05-15I am usually not one to write reviews but I was so blown away by how unpleasant my experience was as my first time at a dry bar. I was very excited for my appointment to only leave very disappointed. My stylist was beyond unprofessional. During my wash the water was cold and she said she couldn’t do anything about it. When I sat down in the chair for her to start my hair she didn’t ask me what type of service I wanted until after already drying my hair. She added curls and rushed the entire process. While doing my hair her and multiple co workers were gossiping and swearing as if customers weren’t present, extremely unprofessional. Once I was shown my hair I was so upset. I felt like my time and money was wasted, to have to go home and try to fix it. I felt like this particular establishment staff did not care about the customers which speaks volumes for a business aim to please clients. Hopefully in the future I will have a better experience at another location.

2022-06-23Worst blowout experience I’ve ever had. Staff argued in front of me about who was going to do my hair because I was the last appointment of the day and they all wanted to go home. It was really uncomfortable. We all want to go home at the end of a long day, but you just don’t argue about it in front of a client, it’s completely inappropriate. Then my hair was super rushed and it was already frizzy when I left. Pretty sure they’re supposed to go over it with a straightener but the stylist was in too much of a rush to do that. I had to fix it when I went home. Definitely won’t be returning to this location and neither should you.

2022-04-11I didn’t have a great experience. Seems overpriced for what it is. My hair felt fried on the ends after and not really smooth. The blow out itself was super rough (a lot of pulling). I went to a different place a few days later and got much better service/results.

2022-05-04Pleasant experience, fast service and beautiful iob done.A little longer wait than my original appointment, im sure if i was late i would have been cancelled what was surprising was there was no acknowledgement or apologies.Did not take away from my experience but also cannot give a perfect 5. Respect is 2 way, respect my time the same way I respect yours.

2022-06-03Waste of money. Stylist was rude and kept hitting my head with the hair dryer. At the end, my hair didn’t feel smooth at all and the curls lasted about two minutes after walking outside. Never again!

2022-05-19Not a great experience to be honest. Asked for a blowout (I have natural, bi-racial hair), and the stylist gave me a half tini which I didnt ask for. The style did not last at all, Im talking was out the door at 4p and by the time I was at my event at 6p my har was frizzy, curling, and just a mess. Unfortunate, but will not be returning.

2021-07-27My stylist (I remember her name but I feel bad putting it on blast in this review since she was a nice lady) HOWEVER, a straightener was used to curl my hair and as she was working she was pulling on my hair. Then when she turned me around to the mirror my hair was barely curled and the front left side of my hair was not curled at all and I asked her to re-do it. She did but it still was barely curled. I asked for loose beach waves. My hair came out super flat and no volume and barely curled. My hair honestly looked better before this appointment. I went to the front desk and told them I was unhappy with the service and they said I didn’t have to pay, however they still charged my friend’s card. Currently, this company is in the middle of refunding this and said they would be in contact in 3-4 days. I would never suggest this location to anyone.

2018-09-03My stylist Kaoti was AMAZING. So sweet, did a great job on my hair. Would definitely go back to her!!The issue I had was the front desk receptionists. One took down the wrong service (put blowout instead of updo) and the other receptionist went back and forth with me about what I asked for when I had a reservation that said uptini. Eventually she checked and switched my stylist. They didn’t acknowledge their error or apologize for going back and forth with me on the spot about it. But once they gave me Kaoti everything was great.
