I was going to write a really nasty review about the pharmacist here. But I would like to come from a different angle. Mr. Max I would like to remind you that you have a great job, you work in a place that is air conditioned in the summer, you have staff to help you.. I don’t know your life. But I do know there is always something to be thankful for in this life. Just walking the streets near 125th (your work location) you can see the trials and tribulations of others, living on the streets with out jobs, with out housing. You must have something positive to hold on to maybe even just memories from school. As many do not even have the opportunity for higher education. I ask that you take a moment and reflect on these positive things from your life before you elect to be so rude to someone who simply had a question. I hope this message finds you well and that you can find something to smile about.
Ive never had any bad experience with a staff member or customer at this location. The only down fault is that it is always over runned by people who are just loitering in front. Sadly, a great deal of the people who are loitering are the opposite of hard working, law abiding, sober people. Its disturbing if I need to use the atm located in the vestibule, that they are there. I feel very unsafe and Im sometimes harassed for money. The security guard only watches the inside of the store not the area where the atm is located. Its also unnerving when you first enter because they crowd right at the front of the store. Thats why I usually avoid coming to this location. Its literally 2 blocks away from me but Id rather walk 5 blocks and an avenue away to go to the rite aid.
This review is only with regard to their Pharmacy. If you are new and being trained, the least you can do to compensate for your (temporary?) incompetence is to have really, really, REALLY good customer service. Just being nice goes a long way. They are inept, dismissive, rude and ghetto. Even the pharmacy manager is aloof and dismissive. I feel sorry for the folks who live in this neighborhodd who have to patronize this pharmacy.
The store states that it is open at 7am. For the past week or so they would not open at the time they’re opening at 7:30 7:45 just because they don’t have a security or because the security is late . Like are you kidding me ? Then they have an attitude one with the red hair and another lady.
AND the Pharmacy is closed (unannounced) on a Thursday!
The security looking at his phone, the cashiers without a mask and asked him if the photo machine and nobody knows .. super bad
I like this Duane Reade, but some of the cashiers here are rude and unprofessional, then you have some that are nice and professional.
Not a safe location. I miss the location on 115 and 3rd Avenue. I cannot risk my safety and walk past people who are high and strung out on drugs to pick up medication anymore.
I recently bought a tattoo pen from another store on Broadway and was told by an employee save the package and all papers work for a return, go to this location to do a return and the manager clearly is incompetent , first he said they didnt carry the product only for me to look and see the same product on the shelf, he totally lied and said they didnt carry it, I wanted a refund and he refused to give it to me, he basically told me to go back to the store were I purchased the product witch is another Duane reade that is not in my areas I find it very disappointing that I have to be inconvenienced when they have my money its not fair, I will take this to the next level because its not the money its more about the principle how they treat people 😡😡😡😡😡
Overall great location, products & service except for pharmacy. Tech are not helpful and dont go all of their way to assist.
Slow service from 2 cashiers and understaffed. Should at least include one more cashier for the large group of people that they handle on a daily basis.

Never answers their phone. Someone would pick up the phone and then put you on an endless loop of waiting. Don’t bother calling.

2022-02-22Your basic Duane Reade, but I have to compliment the staff for doing their jobs well at this location. The corner the store is on, while conveniently located, is unfortunately unsafe. They deal with the environment well to serve a community in need. The missing star is more reflective of the location, rather than the store itself.

Variety of snacks, frozen foods, basic refrigerated foodstuffs, beer, gift cards, over-the-counter medications, and essentials for babycare. Pharmacy on-site fills prescriptions. There is a section specializing in items for travel, such as luggage locks and outlet converters.

2021-01-15On January 11 2021 three of my FedEx packages were delivered to this location unfortunately for me all three of my packages got stolen by employees. I’ve been a paying and loyal customer to this location for more than a decade so it was to my dismay that employees stole all three of my birthday packages. Not only was the cashiers Isabel and Omar very rude to me but after inquiring about my packages the manager Deidra told the police to escort me out the store. I wasn’t stealing, cursing anyone out or causing a fight I was inquiring about my packages that they stole. Buyer beware the employees at this location are unprofessional, have sticky fingers and are down right ghetto.

2021-04-20I dont understand how this place is still open.Every one has a very bad attitude and they dont care at all for their costumes.The African-American dude that work in the pharmacy is not friendly at all. I went to take my COVID shot and I felt like I was imploring then to do their job.But I get Duane Read doesnt care about its costumers they only care about the money they are making with the vaccine.

2020-09-27I Dont Think They Care What We Think! - Its been like this before and during the COVID pandemic. And Im convinced the pandemic is being used as excuse for an even poorer (as if it were possible) customer experience. Shelves are poorly stocked. Windows and floors are a mess. Sales items rarely in stock and they couldnt give me a rain check. Operating hours on the website, operating hours that you are told when you call and the posted COVID hours dont match. Theyve been closed before the posted COVID closing time on at least 3 separate occasions with no signs or explanation. Some of the pharmacy techs have horrible attitudes and act as if you are disturbing their social calendar when you approach them for help. Its sad that we accept this poor level of service from companies in our neighborhoods. Theyre not going to do better until we do better and require it.

2020-08-14On thursday august 13th i got in the store for groceries and suddenly i was followed by the security guard and a nypd officer . So scared and unconfortable i was worried to make any mistake in the store. While waiting on the line for payment i took out my debit card to be clear for payment . As a black man i will never jump in that store again . So scary

2018-12-18Today I went to buy tampons and pads. All the signs clearly said buy one get 50% off all feminine products. They were each labelled. The cashiers were sooo uniformed. They sent me back 4 times to grab different things and check signs. So the super size were on sale but not the regular, the jumbo but not the small? They were all on sale, you just had to buy two of each product. In the end I just ended up leaving everything out of pure frustration and annoyance with the cashiers.
